Yeah, trying to get to your level. Yeah, mine's out of control. I get my cut up a little. Couldn't get to your level, Nate,
how you doing? Just trying to find a he was a type of foot the Dallas Cowboys. Still you found one yet in that book? What you got? What you looking at him? Looking at us? Stars? Uh? Michael did a great job. He did do a great job. Any y'all watch Masters yesterday. You know what, I did not see much of it, saw the highlights, but you Nate. Yeah, I walked in the house. My wife told me Tagger had one, and everybody was crying and slobing. I I
don't one thing. If I don't like the sport name, and if I don't watch the sport, I don't try to you know, I mean, great, great photiger. But yeah, I didn't watch any of it either. I hate that I missed it. I used to play a lot, did you? Yeah, you know when I quit when whenever I used to play during the summers, and then whenever I moved here, I played a lot the first couple of years I was here, and then my buddy had a boat. So on the weekends it was either go to the lake.
Oh I out there in the cove, yep, go to the lake drink a lot of beer, or go to the golf course and drink a lot of beer. And I chose the lake for more more pretty obvious reasons. Yes, yes, so, and then the other thing that happened last night, or either one of y'all watch a Game of Thrones. No, my wife watched No Spoiling Please, Douglas, do you watch it? I watch it, but I missed it last night. My wife was sick and I have to watch it with her.
There's a new king all I'm gonna say, yeah, it's good. It's good, Douglas. It's it's pretty uneventful. But they have set in motion about eight different storylines and you don't know which direction. And you know the best thing about that show, what Dragons, is when it come on and they build each city. Oh yeah, and they got a new show opening for this season. Yeah, when they build each city, that's what I like. I'll be like, wow, this is nice building the cities. After that, who cares?
I just want to I just wanted to dragons to slay everybody. I mean not not often a show with like open incest is as wildly popular as this thing is. I'm that description of the show. But I'm gonna tell you what's so funny, Doug? I'm sorry. Uh, I'm just gonna let one of the queens try to get funny with the dragon lady like, got it? What dude? Dragons z? She looked no bad to say anything? You know what? I almost said it out loud before she did. Yeah, anything,
they won't. Yeah, better, you better watch it while we do the show broken. Let me give it up. He may you need to get Yeah, if you need to binge, watch it, Kurt, I think you'd like it. You gotta give it like five or six episodes. You know what many shows I watched this? How this has been on? How many none? How'd you know that comment? Because I watch Pieces of I make my wife think I don't like it. I don't want to watch it, So I watch Pieces of Right, and I don't watch just enough
to stay until you know what's going on. It's pretty good, Doug, you're gonna like it. I didn't watch some Masters or a Game of Thrones. I'm just I feel totally out of you should societies loopate watches all the brothel scenes. No, man, I tell you what they here's some there's some stuff going on in that show. Brom. I'm gonna tell you
something that's and I'm saying this. Don't don't call in here telling me how athletes should act, because if I actually do you watch the Game of Thrones, because I know if you watch it, your kids watch it. So don't tell me how athletes should act. Because the Game of Thrones is not for kids at all, not a family show. No it's not. It's not. Hear little kids, your Game of Thrones is good. Last night. You ain't
nothing but ten years old. And I promise you your mom and dadd I tell you how athletes should act. After you don't see eight women with one man come on and some women with women bro that with men. That one young lady told the priest like I ain't ain't like older, and the priests like, you'll die of your dive pots before you get old. Watching the show, you seem to know he knows all about it. He knows all that he This is Nate being like, no, I don't watch that stuff, but he I guarantee you
he knows, he knows. But is this a show about the No? No, no, you getting down the game? So which one of the dragons? You didn't neither one of you watch The Masters or Game of Thrones, But Kurt, you did watch something over the last few days. It was actually listened to. It was a podcast. And this goes back to the Marcus Lawrence. Yeah, what you haven't really had time. You weren't here to come in on Dragon's He's probably Dracarious, which is the he's the the
the Red and Black one. Yeah, he looked he looked at your boy last night. Yeah he saw that. Yeah. Oh yeah, Doug, you're gonna get Nate's gonna tell you the whole show. A bit of catch up there, Doug. Yeah, Well, tonight's tonight, all right, order you a pizza from Papa John's, and you and the lady just hunker down and waste that hour there you go there? All right? All right? So Kurt, what happens. Oh, I like it, like it. Yeah, I'm glad they got it done. I mean, you pay
the man. Now, you got two legitimate threats on both ends, which is gonna make your secondary better, your locker room. You tighten that up. You know, they did what d Law said. De Law said, they told him, you know, we're gonna get this thing done just and that. You know, sometimes negotiations aren't pretty, yes, and this one wasn't actually, especially when you're talking about millions and millions and millions
of dollars. So yeah, his h Lawrence's agent, David Kent, went on a podcast last Monday, the Business of Sports Podcast with Andrew Brand, and he was really revealing. And you don't a lot of times just kind of held close to the vest, you don't hear what goes on
behind the scenes. But David really kind of let loose on what was happening and almost makes you kind of surprise the deal got done the way it did, and maybe this is common way these negotiations work, but from the get go it was just kind of a I guess got off to a rocky started. Douglas, We've got some cuts here. We can play the first one talks about here their very first meeting. This was kind of
a social engagement at the scouting combine in March. So when we got to the combine in Mark and I had a very contentious face to face with Stephen Jones out socially one night where we've known each other so long that I think we can we can mss each other and still be Franks. And we were both out socially. You know, I had a glass of wine in my hand. I think he had a glass of Johnny Walker Blue and his and it got real, real nasty, real quick in what way nasty just over the value of the player.
You know, hey, hey, we're not going to pay him twenty million a year. He's not worth it. He's not Von Miller, he's not Khalil Macke's not Aaron Donald. He's not getting twenty million a year. And my answer was, you're right, he's getting twenty point five seven one million a year because he's going to get a second franchise tech And so then it was like, well, then let him come in and sign it and he'll just play under the tag. And I was like, well, no, no, no,
we're not doing what we did last year. This year, and I think the Cowboys probably would have been happy with that. They would have been ecstatic that if he had just agreed to come in the building, signed the tag and play, they could have you know, eaten the twenty twenty five millions, but they would have obviously had you know, no liability going further. That was the opening, the beginning of the negotiations. Drink started a couple of drinks of the thing, and it sounds like he kind
of goes on that. Originally Cowboys, I mean they were offering like seventeen eighteen million. I mean, it was pretty low and some At one point he said they didn't they didn't negotiate at all last year, last March, in March in twenty eighteen, before the first franchise tag started. They didn't negotiate again until this marching. The combine. And I guess that's kind of part for the course, I can say, isn't that the way it works? Yeah, you just let it sit in the first one that blinks
usually wins. Yeah, And it was strange to kind of hear him talk. I recommend if you've got the time to check it out, But I don't know. It was there's another cut, and we've got several cuts. We don't need to play them all because they're kind of long. But this last one Douglas made play cut four. This talks about what they did. Was on Thursday, they finally got on the phone, and David Canter said that Stephen Jones basically told DeMarcus Lawrence, here's what it's going to be.
You know, we can tell you this much. We can't do this. We can do this, and if you like it, we completely understand. We can go our separate ways, and if you're willing to do it, let's make a deal. And so that happened Thursday. By Thursday night, he kind of thought they had a deal. They were close. He said, they're gonna be dealing done. But well, Friday came along and it was like, as he said, radio silence. Nothing happened.
They traded some stuff, nothing came along, and then about oh late in the afternoon, at five o'clock, it sounded like the deal was going to fall through, and you want to play cut for there. I called the Marcus and I said, man, I don't know, bro. I said, I'm sorry, I know I got you excited. I thought we were going to get this thing done. You know this, this trigger here right now, this is this is bad, dude,
this is really bad, and he got pissed. Man, then don't be calling me and telling me that we're close when we're not closing. Go backwards and he I hung up the phone, and my instinct was, We're done. Screw the cowboys. I'm done. I'm not calling them back, I'm not texting them. This is a bunch of nonsense. They should never have done this. And thank god I didn't listen to myself. I instantaneously text message Stephen Jones with and this is what I wrote. I said, are we
really gonna let this happen? We've got so much momentum, We're so close. Please call me, let's talk this out. And then he didn't respond to my test, and about seven minutes later I walked into the garage. I was at my mother in law's house celebrating her birthday in or about fifteen little kids running around, screaming, going crazy, and I called Stephen on his personal cell phone and
he didn't answer. Four minutes later he called me back, and as soon as he called me back, I said, I'm not going to acknowledge your most recent proposal, Hey, you wanted fifty, you wanted sixty six, We gave it to you. You got him, you just gotta earn him. I said, Stephen, I'm not gonna do that. We're not gonna play that game. Get me to fifty, get me to sixty six, and then Stephen to Stephen's full credit. He goes, I won't get you to either number, but I'll get you as close as I can. How about
forty eighteen sixty five? And I go, I think that I'll get it done. How was it? And then from then on by Friday night, they finally ended deal. None so crazy negotiations, But that's just kind of found that interesting. I just kind of wanted to give a little glimpse and went into that deal. And that may happen all the time, that maybe normal procedure, but it seemed pretty right. So all those people that were reporting that Thursday and Friday that they were a deal was done, you almost wasn't.
They didn't they didn't know what they were talking. Well, they knew, probably got some information. But and Thursday night sound he sounded like they thought it was going to get done. But what happened was it? And it was he kind of mentioned at the beginning was that they had asked for more guaranteed. Well when they did, the Cowboys offered less contract overall contract, and so that's what
he said in there. We took a step backwards, and they're like that got DeMarcus all pissed off, and they were like, screwed the Cowboys and all this So just part of the negotiations, I get, But I just thought it was kind of a fascinating look at the into what would happen. Yeah, used to negotiate your own stuff, right, No, I had an age, you had a guy. I told him what I wanted, you know. And but the thing is, you're talking about a whole different style of money, you know,
And you know, people say it's relevant. No, no, no, you can't get three or four million dollars mixed up with fifteen That ain't gonna never be relevant. Okay, you know what I'm saying. So his whole, his pocket change was my contract. So but I'm happy it's done. You know, I'll let you guys go through that. I'm happy it's done because, like you said earlier with with with Quentin reading me, we're not talking about the draft with with this new kid we signed and with him now I
feel so much better because we got guy. Two guys that can go fifty snaps and that's gonna command respect. And now now we those guys that we plugged in the Christian Covington, all of those guys. Man, But if MALIEK. Collins stays healthy and come to play along with the human Law, let me ask you this from a scheme standpoint. Now that you signed Quinn and I think we all agree,
he's he's he's he's solid, he's gonna help legit. How does that with d Law being on the opposite end as far as assignments and stuff, does that help him or does it help the guys in the middle more it helps everybody because single blocks have to be done now, especially in past and pass for a situation. Man, Now Crawford becomes a beast because he don't have to go fifty snaps. He can go thirty five to forty snaps and are him and my man can split those snaps.
Imagine how fresh they're being. He already got an open motor like it is. And if something do happen to Malak Collins, now we put him down there on that three, we are rolling because this one guy gives you snaps. What people don't understand is some guys are good, are good for twenty five thirty snaps. They can give you what they got for twenty five thirty snaps. Some guys are talented and has enough stamina to give you them forty or fifty snaps like d Laque with a high
level of consistency. That's where guys fall off at. That's where these two guys don't fall off at. Now that strengthens everybody at every position because you can rotate Crawford down in there a little bit, and plus he can still play where our boy play at. So brother, this with I believe in quality, and then when you can get some quantity with that quality, it just strengthens you. Man, you think this is Kurt, You think this is one
of the better defensive lines in the league. Now, I would think so if there, if he's healthy and better defenses in the league. I mean they're already the top seven. I think they make seven last year in defense, about fifth or six in points, and they just have gotten better. So I mean, yeah, this is the first offseason, you know in a while where you say, wow, they they they they did the thing, you know, and they did it without uh getting spending ten million dollars on a guy, right,
they did it kind of under the radar. Yeah, but how many guys have they signed offense and defense? Like close to twenty is not that many, I don't think. But they'vey if you count all the moves they've made, they've been busy, I mean, quietly under the radar. They've you know, they didn't make that big splash the first week of free agency, which is a credit to them. I think, yep, you know, everybody keeping you know, now that we have this kid, now you you you can
you can go to the offense. I feel confident that we can go on it. If they wanted to, they can go spend this whole draft on offense, you know, I think. So yeah, man, you feel that good? Because if this guy stays healthy, it's a big elf. I mean, but tell me this right here, you don't think this dude is that good? Who? Well, no, Quinn, you know what the queenn Quinn? Excuse me, Quinn? You don't think it? No, yeah, I do. But you only got him for one year,
so okay, you got him for one year. Okay, if we spend our second and third on the offensive guy and get a defensive gun with the fourth of the fifth pick, we still only got this guy for one year. Right, So unless you get a second round pick, our third round pick defensively, you know that means you're looking forward to the future. But if you get a fourth for the lord, I would still prefer him this one year then that guy, because I've seen what he did with Darns.
I'm strong ain't giving him no run. No, I definitely want him. I'm just saying, I'm just saying, you're saying we gotta we gotta get depth. It is what you're saying in the draft for makes for the future future. Yeah, yeah, but give Darance. I'm strongly chance. Yeah, yeah, that's true. They've got you know, yeah, you got get get Let's see what they can do. Uh, Daniel Ross, Christen Covington.
Let let these guys ball, Let let them play. You already got the human law, you already got the league college. He's in a contract year coming up. Let's seeking he stay healthy and ball. Is it is he had a offseason surgery her recent league. Yeah, he has every other year. I don't remember if he hit. Yeah, somebody was trying to tell me had I said. Now, I think that was last year. I think he had it last I don't think he's last year. But you know, I'm serious.
If this guy come in and plays up to his level for this one year, you know, you go out and you you solidified that, you solidify him on the field. No, I ain't into his money or what he gonna make. I don't care, but you solidify him being comfortable with the right type of weapons. I don't care if his offensive linement. I don't care if it's a tight end. I don't care if it's a running back. I don't care what position, But the first two picks should go
for that. I don't care, And I mean coming in playing. This is the same guy that just wanted a fat guy in the middle of the first the first pick, maybe two of the first time. I'm still looking. I'm still looking. But my issue is now when you when you get as still like I think we got and all we got to is give up the next year's six pick. You know you get it from around six seven mile extra mile pendel hype playing sacks you you you gotta chance this kid, I mean, he's gonna be hungry,
He's gonna be wanting to prove who he is. He's already a good player. It ain't like he ain't a good player. We got to develop him and now we saw what Ross did last year. Uh what was the other big kid? I can't think his name besides Malie Collins and Anteloe where we had another guy can't call his name with Devin's attack, Yeah, we got guys, but
they are not fifty snap plus guys. They are the guys that can get you between that thirty five and that twenty five and thirty five snap and we can keep come on and in the wild card is Crawford the wild because if something happened to either one of the Devin's events, he can be put out that temporarily, but if not, we cut down on his reps and let him get after it. Yeah. You know something else I like about the way they've built this year. You got a lot of guys that are either on one
year deals or the last year their contract. Yeah, and I think there's a lot to be said for that because I mean, guys play historically. It looks like guys play over their potential whenever they're trying to get paid. Okay, that that brings a question to mind, do you think? Question? Or question? Sorry? So they they obviously seemed there and
win now mode. Yeah, they are going for it right now. Yes. Um, given that all these guys are contracts are up next year, you're gonna you're you're either gonna lose them or your salary caps gonna go way up the roof. Um, you brought in it, you know, Cob, you brought in uh quinn some one year guys. So going back to the draft, you're you're winning right, you're ready to go. Would you try to trade up if you see a guy in
that low first round? Would you give up picks next year? No? No, no, no, no no. And that's why I'm saying, Okay, I wouldn't either, But I'm just saying, you're you're ready to win right now. Yeah, and next year, you know, if you've got a guy there sitting there and that you that can help you this year, you go for it. Not only about you go up. As you go up on three or four spaces, you know, if a guy like, wow, this guy knocked you, Wow, I got man Kurt cut his hat, he's looking good.
If you give up this year's second next year's second for to get up higher, but not for Shannon, that hurts. I would hate to give up draft picks too, But it just it crossed my mind. It's like they're built to win, right, But but is there a guy that helps you win now to the draft. Yes, I don't know the draft well enough to answer that, but I'm just saying, if there's a guy sitting there in the low twenties or what late in the first round that you think you can go get, would you give up
no picks next year? No, no, you don't get you first round is off limits, even down to the last pick. If they just trying to say, man, we'll take anything for this first round pick, anything is gonna be the next year's first round for you. No, even though it she would be low, they're gonna win to him. Plus game, let's let's don't do what got us in the situation that we were in before the last couple of years.
They've done it the right way. It's not exciting, it's kind of boring to watch in the off season in the draft, but they've done it. They've built this team with draft picks the last two or three years. I mean a lot of the most of these guys have been on the field and contributed. Like, let's not let's not take a step back and go back to And I could be wrong. We don't have a first round pick, but I don't never remember her selling the way we're
selling these books. Yeah, they're doing good. You know. Not having that first round pick is juice to everybody up to think, Like he's thinking, what if me? What if this guy? You know what I'm saying, what if this guy falls? What if this guy falls? You know to the second round. Now, when you're talking about moving three or four spaces, I would get at some thought. But I can't move, Yeah, because like you know, you you
you you, you shake up the world. Now you paying for that for another couple you're saying, those not a deep draft of safeties, and they'll probably all be gone by the time. Yeah, good ones, right, the good tight ends to be gone, The good safeties to be gone. Yea. You know, the only thing would be abundance of is devasive tackles And guess what we could probably use one's truly tell you what, Let's take a break and when we come back, we'll talk. We'll take some phone calls.

I am okay, is anyone on the phone. Yes, you have David and North Carolina? Hey David, what's up?
Hey guys A long time talbot since today's a rider Starbuck and it's time for us to get an into Lombardi trope. Let's go. Many also want to say it. I'm really jealous oft. I went through that whole Kem therapy thing, and my hair is not nearly as good as Kurts. Right, not many people's is as good as Kurt. I gotta luck. Here's my question. Last year, Antoine Woods made his presence known in training camp, and I know Nate's gonna hate me for this, but he was going
against a less than hundred percent Travis Frederick. Now, from Alignment's point of view, do you think Frederick is going to re establish his alpha role. We're gonna see some epic battles in camp between them. Interesting. Yeah, they're gonna They're gonna battle. They're gonna battle. I mean, you know, nobody doubts Frederick's ability. You know, well he a little does he have a little something to prove? Get back? That's all on him. Uh yeah, he you know, he
hard to rattle. See what you got, supreme confidence? You you're kind of hard to rattle because him and Old Woods gonna get into a fight. And I went up and say, hey, man, just keep you cool there like man's football. He's supremely confidence. The worry is not you know, you know, he ain't. He ain't really focused on what's outside of what he's doing. That's why when he said that, I'm like, wow, I kind of kind of was taken back, but I thought about says that's supreme confidence. Yeah, so
he's not worried. So I'm not worried. Are you worried, David? I don't know. I don't. I think Travis is the best center in the league. I did so. I think he's gonna The confidence is, the supreme confidence is not there for him right now. Yeah, he's kind of gotta work his way back a little bit. But if his strength is there, yeah, he already got in the mental capability. If his strength is there, he's gonna be all right.
Today's the first day of official team workouts. Yeah yeah, yeah, the sweat sweat, and he's I think he's right in there with him. Yeah, well, thank thanks for the call, David, thanks for listening. Man, I thank you guys. Just get a trophy this year, sir. You know, you know, like I tell people, I say, you know what he had, and I'm not making light of it. But what he had is a severe case of the flu. That's how to look at it. When you get the flu, everything hurts,
you can't move, you know what I'm saying. You can't move, you can't get out of bed. But once you get through the flu, you know, you feel a little bit of you feel a little bit weak for a couple of days, but you do the right thing. You know, you know me, and you do the right thing. We eat the right thing. Shannon go out drinking again and it reoccurs on him. But that's how I look at that. If they say he's on his way back, he's gonna
be a little weak. But by the time you get the training camp, get through OTAs and all of these different steps, and he continued to prosper and get stronger. If his strength returned, he's gonna be okay. I mean, now he can just get him a few reps. Okay, this is what I need to work on. This is what because he's one of those guys that can think. Now only has the physical capabilities, but he can think the game. Me ask you this, Looney started last year.
I think we all agree, couldn't have asked for a much better job from a backup center. Yeah, he did good. Travis comes back obviously if he's at one hundred percent, it's his job. Hits his job, and Looney's back up again as a player. I mean, Looney's a great guy and he's gonna take it in stride and he's gonna do everything he can to be a good teammate. How does that does that mess with you a little bit? Whenever you go from hey I started, it just makes
you want to play. And what it should make Looney do is just still compete, compete even harder because that left guard spot is still open. Yeah. I don't think nobody just a nail down that left guards And if I'm Luney, I'm going at it. You know, you know, Connor, will you you got to come to play home boy? You know your Alimamut of the Eyes of Texas own Yeah, mine too. You know what I'm saying. If they'll give
Luney a good shot at left guard. Yeah, you know what, but you know up, but my hat's in the ring and until you tell me, I'm not playing it, I need me some reps right now? Do you does he go ask or does he just left the coaches? Nah? Nah? Oh no, you know started sixteen games for these cats. Hey, coach, I want to shot at that. Okay, yeah, I'm man. I'll just wait for them to say so. Why come on, I don't get a hotel. Luned too, Lunar. Yeah, you

You need to be sitting there in his office looking at sitting in his seat, coach, would you know what I'm saying? I got something he's talking about. Have a seat over there. Let's go back to the phones. Brian and Maryland. Hey, man, Hey, how are you doing? Gentlemen? Great? How are you? I'm doing well.
I had a question for you. I've been looking at all the moves they've been doing throughout the off season, and honestly, the position I see that we need the most is backup running back because if heath or what's go out, then you have a loca, but if Ze goes out, it's over. Yeah, the run first, uh, play action is gone. So where would you see? Where's the highest you would see us go in the draft for a running back? And fifth un who would it be? Who?
Who'd be worse going that high to get a running back? Great question? Thanks for the call, man, four or fifth round, because we just until until Rod Smith is officially gone, that's the guy. And and and well we'll see if Frederick is Frederick is back and as strong as I think he gonna be that middle running in what Rod I'd like to do, he'll be better. And let's see what Kelly Moore can do. Because a good coach supposed to be able to see what his talent can do
and cannot do. Let's see what Keller Moore can do. The more you know, if coach, uh, if Jason led him, if red Ball led him, let him, you know, have some say, so let's see. Yeah, let's see, because you know, I think back up in the draft though I'm I'm not against them taking up. I wouldn't go high, but I'm not against them taking a running back. I wouldn't mind them getting some new talent. In here and seeing what's We talked about this a little bit last week.
We're for the best player on their board in the second rounds of running back. I wouldn't do it it. What depends on how much you've got, how best he was. You have Zeke on the roster right now, and you've got Darius Jackson, who for whatever reason is still not well. I'm gonna put right here. You got Jordan Chun. You got those three guys. You have one really one running back,
like the caller said, and after that, it's a crapshoot. Okay, let me let me put it like this, and Zeke's you know, how much long are you gonna Atlanta had? Atlanta got their kid that got hurt this fast year, and so they had their backup guy, which is a great guy, and so having you can't have enough great players, explosive players, expressive. If you're if you're if your first priority is to run the ball. So if your first
priorty to run the ball, Zeke go down. But the first thing you say is, well, if the best players is in the second round is a running back, you say nah, But what if Zeke do go now? Then you're gonna be kicking yourself. So you get that guy. Anything that helps Dad be better, anything that helps Dak get that ball in the end zone. I don't care if obins and line to tackle uh running back wide receiver,
but play him now, don't. We don't need no dude standing over the looking around like you know what's going on. To find a way to get him on the field, you know, so we can be explosive. You're not opposed to if running back to oh man, if he there. I mean, we have done some things on defense that I'm shocked, you know that that one mood that we made on defense. Yeah that changed, That changed your attle bit.
Huh yeah, because us there's so many role players in this league now you know that can't play those forty plus snaps you know, and I'm talking around fifty snaps you know, and get a high quality return. We got two of them now and so now and we got great backups. I think with Tyrone Crawford, you know, can play both sides, and he can play the three technique. Now can the other you know, kim Elite Collins, that is the that's the wild card in this whole thing.
Can he come in healthy from day one and give us fifteen games. You know, Antoine Woods, we know who he is, you know, and and we know who Daniel Ross is. We know who read is, Christine Christine Covington. Can he come in and impact? This impact packed the squad and threatened him for a lot of reps. I think he may be the the kind of hidden gem of offseason moves. Yeah, he was solid with Houston. I mean, yeah,
you know, good depth player. What do you have three and a half sacks something like that and it's as a backup. So yeah, who was the guy we got from the Texans about four years ago who was pretty decent interior defensive lineman. Man, I don't remember he went to Washington after us. I know Nate liked him. No, it was it was a big guy. I know you're talking about. We had a chance to get him back and he went to Washington. We had as I'm as, I'm right, we had a chance to get him back.
Any three years ago, we've got a history of poaching decent Texan lineman. It was. It wasn't Stephen Bowing, No, man, it was this dude did a nice job. Man, You're right, wasn't him wasn't him. Let's go back to the phone, Andy and Tampa. Hey, man, Hey, guys, how are you doing great? How you doing? Hey great? Usual? Hey, listen
a couple of just quick questions. Um. I noticed as the ol Boys assigned an AAA football player or pass rusher, I think his name was Shaker Soto something like that, and I haven't heard anybody say much about him, and I just wondered, maybe possibly Nate, you could come at I'm what you think his skill level isn't if he chanced to make the team. And the second question is if Randy Gregory does indeed come back, say the first game of the year, and it's going to play all season,
what is that? What kind of impact is that going to have on the line? And I'll just hang up and listen, guys. Thanks, Thanks Andrew. Straight out competition, Baby, that new dude, I read about him a little bit. You got to check with Brodness on that cat. I don't watch an old film. He big, and I won't know what he is unt I see him in training camp six three, two ninety. He had a good senior he went to pitt had a good senior season four and a half sacks, yeah, but I hadn't been able
to hook him with the NFL team. Yeah, so you know he could be camp father, you know he could. He shouldn't be more than that. I'll tell you what, if Gregory comes back, Man, that Durrance step forward, and if maybe Taco steps forward, you know, I might never something going on here. And you know what, Man, give Darrance an opportunity, give him a chance. You know, you know Gregory, I'm about to just say what I said before. When I see him back, that's when I talk about
him again, wouldn't it. Charles told us that he thought Durrance had the best moves out there, and he would know. Charles Hayley, Man, I'm gonna tell you something. That's why I keep saying, get a kid a chance. I mean, but if we are not coaches, we don't see what go on on every workout, every situation. But the kids seem to be a good kid that'll do what you ask in to do. Let's give him a chance. Well, you know who we're gonna give a chance in this
next segment, taylors Stern. All right, give her a chance to see what's up with Tay? What when we come back on. Hang it with the boys. You have a thing than cutting the chord is scary. Well, Nate there, I don't know Nate you coming to the draft party. He's probably got stuff to do. But uh yeah, good
to see you. Mistaken. Yeah, welcome to the show. Welcome back, Shannon, Thank you for letting me fill in last week. Yes, you guys behaved themselves, did a great job. You do better than I do. No, not true? Yes, all right, my first day. What of the day for this? Absolutely, I know I told you some different ones pre show, blah blah while I was researching and wanted to set the record straight on a few things that popped up
late in the week. There was an article about Sean Payton talking about how the Cowboys have had interest in him for so long, of him eventually coming here and being Oh, he talked about it, coach, Yes, he talked about it. And his one phrase that he used when I say it, you laugh, he said, I've got flurtily tattoos. Well, Shannon, you know that I have a flurtily tattoo right on my ankle, and if these cameras could see and you're in Texas, means nothing. I'm working for the Cowboys. Sai
doesn't mean I'm a Saints fan. It doesn't mean I couldn't eventually go work for another team. You know, it's it means nothing. Sean So him saying that he was trying to get everyone off his back, and I'm telling you they've accepted mine, so all right. And we did find out last week that I'm the only one on here with a tattoo. I know. I heard that I don't even have a tattoo. M A lot of people don't know that. Yeah they do now say wild Tay
is recruiting Sean Payton. I'll stick with Jason Garrett, Thank you very much. Jason Garrett, you too. No, there's no chance, really no chance. The only reason I would think he might is if there's something with Princeton, maybe he did with a couple of teammates, Duke or something with his family or Duke or something like random. Ask him in the room today. No, I will never think he's Scotland bones. Yeah, that's getting nervous. Yeah, I'm just listening to you. Go
ahead on. Well, all the saying is that I wasn't necessarily recruiting Sean Payton. I was just saying that. When he says that. Okay, it doesn't necessarily close the door. Kurt. Let me ask you this, less than ten wins this year? You're sticking with Garrett or bring on Sean Payton. See, and you just told us the Vegas stats. I can't believe that we were in break. What did you say? I think right now that a lot of people are picking the Cowboys to only have eight and a half.
I think eight and a half wins schedule. I think they have the Browns like nine ten. Caboy's got a tough schedule this year, I think. So when you win first in the East, it's hard schedule, all right, Nate losing you So, Nate? Are you a big golfer? Have you ever golfed? Have you ever called? Have you ever swung a golf? You have? Yeah, A long time ago when a good feeling in, I ain't careful even while
I was doing it. I was like, I tried. I faked it because I was doing something for mister Jones them, so I faked it. You just acted like you, Yeah, there, you know a boy to just tell them about about nine holding the looking at fellas I'm done? You know I would sit over here and drank me some light beers. Y'all can do whatever you want to do. From miss point. Did you have a good group that you're with you? Yeah? I think they was cheating, so that was a good thing. Yeah,
that's good. Well, yesterday Emmett Smith posted this insane photo. Do you see it? No? Man, he was golfing with not only Barack Obama forty four, but also Tony Romo. I don't know where they wore. I'm sure something with like ProAm towards or different things like that. Wow. But Shannon and I were talking and I put together my three. So if you were playing in a foursome with could be anyone in the Cowboys organization still live. Let's just keep it alive, and maybe a random celebrity. Who would
it be? So my first one is Roger Staubach, Okay, thank you'd be interesting. I think he'd have some good stories to tell you from the past to the present. I think he's understand like, very relatable different things. My second one would be Jerry Jones. I think that would be the best time on a course. You don't have yourself golf, but he could be driving the cart. You ever heard his golf story? No, he went out, He
went to met a guide golf to negotiate a deal. Basically, they finished the deal on the first hole and he walked off and never played golf. Played golf a genius classic, Jerry, he can be driving the cart for that one, okay. And my last one is Oprah. I love Oprah. I just want to be around her. Feel like she could kind of like handle the different you know, personalities present. She's great, Kurt, what's yours? I don't know, James Hetfield, is that the Maybe Michael Jordan too? Yeah, Michael would
I think I would go definitely Jerry. Hanging out with Jerry for four hours I was killing. I would bring Nate because I don't feel like I get to spend enough time with Nate, and I think I think Nate would would bring out the fun in the group, and then I would probably go, you know what, I'd probably I kind of would want to bring Dion just because him and Dion have a good relationship and it'd be fun to just hear them talk talking about each other,
which would be fun. But I would think I might go with probably Troy, just because there would be some good stories there. What about a celebrity though, someone outside Cowboys celebrity. I don't really know Church. You like him Church? Yeah, I like the show. I went to both. Friday was so good that I went back. I found tickets and went back Saturday. Yeah, did you I didn't one of the best concerts I've ever been through. Yeah, it was thirty He played thirty three songs and didn't take a
break and didn't have an opener the first night. The second night he took a twenty minute intermission. But it was this man, Eric Church. I didn't know who was that country music guy. He was at AC two nights in a row. Yeah, sold out both nights. So I don't know who my celebrity would be. Who would you Who would you pick? Cowboys organization? Oh, Achman would be a good one. To have one of the older guys along too, like to talk about the old days, like
a Bob Lily story, Cliff Harris. You know. Plus they're your age, so you closer to him. Yeah, it'd't be true. Maybe like a Joe Looney, just out there and be silly. It's abody fun. Yeah, that's why I'd bring Nate comedy relief. It okay, Nate, any of them? Oh, that's exciting. Yeah, I take any of the old Cowboy, this man, any of them for real. And then but my celebrity would be uh myself, yourself. I think gonna finished talking about
everybody that's there. Yeah, okay, I will talk about everybody just there because I don't like golf, so I'm gonna be talking about everybody. The power move by Nate himself, Yeah, because I will tell you and don them go fishing. I don't like fishing. And they thought I count out how many times they throw the real that's been thirty five times. You haven't got a hit yet, can you
these I'll be wiping them out. Yeah, you know, I think my celebrity would be I think i'd take wh just because with those guys, he's got a great personality and just if he would just tell some stories about things that no one else knows. If we could like have take Snoop Dogg, would you? Yeah? Yeah, keep him on the green this past weekend? I think I think so, Eric Churchill, they do they are friends. Yeah, yeah, Eric church what Jimmy, Jerry and Nate? Yeah, that'd be good.
Who would your celebrity be? Doug He's saying Jimmy. I think Jess Cowboy. It could be Jimmy. No, that's three cowboys. Who's your celebrity? Celebrity? Um, how about Owen Wilson. He's funny, random. Could I like it? Yeah? From Dallas. Eric Church, by the way, Samuel Jackson, Yeah, he's a he's an Atlanta fan. That's all right. He's a big falcon than I get him right, I got uh either the guy know who I would bring? Who? The guy that uh be with Peyton on that bus? Would they be singing? Oh yeah,
just Avery night? You have him strum this so he can play. He can play. So Eric Church during he played two different shows, but both shows he has a song called Smoke a Little Smoke and he put it up on the big screen and marijuana leaves everywhere. So I think he's for legalizing marijuana. And yeah, that's why having to snoop so close were he's showing you what to avoid there were not? I don't think so. Why
you think that dude never takes the sunglasses off? He says it's because the lights dehydrate his eyes because he's so stoned he can't keep them open. Problem. Yeah, good seats there they were lower level, they weren't up super close. You got him free or you paid for I paid for the first night, I got them free the second night. Well, I knew you figured out a way is a swindler.
I started. I started. The show was so good. I started working on the you know, you know my celebrities would be got just got my celebrities, your mom and miss pass. God, she's gonna save this show. Yeah. I was just singing any as up going low because I would not want to be there. Believe that. Yeah you got take well my last thing. You guys have probably already discussed offseason workout starting today a little bit, a little bit and watch a little bit. No, I've never
cheated like that, right Shannon, Hey there it's out. I mean, if you're taking a tour of the Star, you see those guys. So I didn't post public thing about it. Yeah, I didn't know or taking any photos. But Zeke did. He posted a video of him arriving looked to me really really early and said first day of summer school. Okay, but bigger storyline. Everyone's been talking about a holdout with Zeke. He's here, He's here. Yeah, that's what I was more so saying come get in shape so you'd be ready
a whole lot of training. Can the bar mindset? Baby, I'm getting I'm gonna show you. I'm I'm here for Is you for me? Yeah? Deal with us here around a little bit. When before his big deal was done, delaw what you think about da, Well, we talked about it last week. Share what they do, Share what they do. Yeah, I'm a big fan of it. But now we think that there's going to be more pressure on the back, like the defensive backs because if anything passes them, which
it shouldn't because they're such bosses. And once they get that middle guy with Nate, Wait a minute, Nate is totally changed his mind. What reason he wants offense? Now we we got queen and that makes everybody strong. I believe that. But show your nails? She was trying to show the nails. Yeah, she showed us at Okay, you like them? Cost I like them? Will you will that help you with you know when you grab jersey and rip on the cloth and go get a sack? Is
it your game of Throne too? No? I don't watch it. Oh my god. Finally somebody that don't millennial, that doesn't watch Game of Thrones, doesn't watch Everything happened everything. He's already ruined it for Douglas tonight. Douglas didn't watch it. No, I don't, but I'm sure it's good. I just don't have the attention span. You brought up a question, what was what move gave you the most trouble when whenever you played? Was it a bullrush type guy? Was it
a swim? Was it was a player? It just players, certain certain players that gave me problems. I mean, I can handle the moves, but if the player was elite athletic. Back in my day, we had a bunch of those. And it's coming back round now with all these three techniques, it's coming the background again. Man, Jerome Brown, John Roundall? Is it John Roundell? Yeah, John Roundall Man. I did just look up some of them guys I played. They were nice. Reggie you played against opposite Reggie Oh I played?
When I played tackle, Yeah, sometime he would come down in the middle and play with step I used to be like, well, I'm gonna punish the rubbish super Bowl the Bills. Ye uh wow. I can't think of the guy's name. But sometimeing to reduce. Look, you know, the big dog Bruce Smith will come down on me. You know that. But you're talking about something scary, like, Bruce Man,
don't you play devis a man? What you're doing down here? Though? No, I tried to buy them all the beer as I could when we was in the club together during the week, we was going the same guys. Maybe Bruce, you want to beer, just run a tab on me. Man, Just just remember this on Sunday. Yeah, so that's that's my guy, right, there's our guy state. Yeah, well it's time to go. Oh. I mean, I wish we could do two hours today, but I'm hungry. You know what's amazing is I felt
so energized last week for some reason. It was different. Didn't you better? It was better? Yeah? Now we needed the crew together. It was better last week. I listen, I forget I listened even though her boss. Maybe maybe we could just do a full hour next week. Tell you were better, Okay, don't don't be humble around this guy. Better is next Monday? You were better than him? Say, don't be homeble, you were better. Take do you believe that you were better? You have? She was better? I
believe in my mind, I am the greatest. That is next Monday, the Monday before the draft. Yes, it is. Danny mccraie is joining us next week. Former Cowboy What was this? Did he play safety and special teams? Hint, hint, hint? What bringing back put him on the field? Safety says, But you know what, I don't think we need to go out and do nothing defensively. Chill into the full round. I don't even know this guy. All he said for the last four months D tackle, D tackle, D tackle,
D line, D line. Now it's idea. Last weekend it actually became a roundtable discussion and said, what's a position that they could logically draft this year that would actually play the snaps? That's right, that's right? And where what position? And on defense? Who we gotta we were fully linebacker, strong linebacker, strong side linebacker. That's the only position. And uh, yeah, you're right. But I wouldn't go out and get a sam backer. I'm not being honest, not with the second pick.
I may do it with the third maybe, yeah, but I would not do that with a second round pick on a strong side of sam backer. I wouldn't shouldn't let the one we got left leave Yeah, well we gotta leave too. Get out of her, Kurt. Thanks for showing up, good man, Taylor. Thanks for hanging out with us again. Thanks for picking up the slack last week. Welcome we were better Taylor Monday, hanging with the youta Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club
