Before listening, ask a doctor if your heart is healthy enough for Dallas Cowboys football. He's hanging with the Boys, broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at The Star in Frisco. Now your host Nate Newton, Kurt Daniels, and Shannon Gross Wednesday from the Star And in the words of Nate Newton, I said, what y'all want to talk about today? And Nate said, who cares, Let's just do the show. So we're gonna do the show Man showtime. Yeah.
I've been uh, I've been very vocal Shannon and I like it. I don't call him everything except Kurt today, would you got I'm glad. Once I got on the show, I called him Kurt, thank you. I walked by his office and I had an extra cook. I said, you want to cookie, Dirk, and the young lady behind him started laughing. I said, I call you everything but Kurt. She said, yeah, because I thought you called him jerk. Wow. No, ma'am, I did not call him that. I would not insult
him like that. I have gotten next to him. I may call that not Hey, just make sure you don't switch that r out with another continant. We'd be in bad shape there, Kurt, what's up? What's up? Dirt? What's up? Dirk? Dirk, Kurt whatever, he's Kurt, Kurt Daniels. Oh Man, not Kurt. Now. One thing about Kurt. Uh. He made me feel like I was in a claim at the insurance company a banking company because I called him and uh, he should have put on this phone. I would call you within
twenty four hours because he five seven hours later. Sorry, what's up? Name? I say? Who is this is? Oh? You know what? I just remember you called me on Monday and I never called you back. We's not called you back? Yeah, you did no talking back. So he got he got some equity. You have to. I was in him. I was in a meeting and I plat forgot to call you back until it he'll just talk. Yeah. Wow. But it's just fun, man. Just I'm ready to do
this show. I see I see some daylight. It's not a great amount of light, you know, but I see some daylight. You all right, do me? Do me a favor for everybody that's doom and gloom and thinks there's no chance in hell we make the playoffs. There's no chance we can beat the Eagles at eight and one coming in to our stadium. What what's the daylight that you see that gives you hope that I need some of this because more I look at the Eagle stats, the warst I feel, you know what. I listen to
guys that have talked to people in Philly. Right, I'm gonna tell you how bad it is and how hated we are in Philly. It's from the point where we don't matter. So even if we beat the Cowboys, it's it's still the greatest thing in the world. Can you believe that some fans like, hey man, that's shoe in and then some fans like, uh, if we beat them, we're gonna definitely be on top of the world. We're gonna definitely be the Broad Street Bullets, you know. And
it's just amazing how with our fans we lose. It's the end of the world. We got the dumbest coaching staff, our players can't play, we can't function. Uh, we listened to we stopped listening to every show. What's uping that would accept hanging with the cowboy? You know, Sir Douglas don't even sound good anymore with his hits and cuts. I mean, did him hear from him yesterday until like the last ten minutes here today, did you hear it? Certain here? But when we win, oh my god, didn't
the coaches contract? You know? The bo Yeah, man, witness the best ever. And you know, even even Chad. I say, if we was to beat philadeph and Chad screen was to get in the game and do some nice, some nice things, I'm in chaces back. Man. Oh about you know everybody that was hating on him this way? Yeah, I knew he just had a bad day. Yeah, he just had a bad day. Man. So but me, I'm
not gonna I can't allow myself to fall prey. And I've said it in the last two days and I said this day and I hope to say it again. I called into the show. Y'all. Just set the time, and I give you five minutes of funk men, and let me get out of the hood. I give you five minutes of cheering up. You know what I'm saying. Uh, listen to this right here, Listen this right here. Let me let me say it right. These kids I've grown man, whoever I'm old enough to call them kids. And I'm
talking about the Eagles. They have twenty five sacks. Yep, we have like round what twenty five sacks? Twenty eight sacks? We got three more sacks in them. Guess what what they missed? They lost their middle linebacker. We lost our will. They lost their left tackle. We lost our left tackle. They didn't have a so called super running back. They was doing it by committed. We decided to do it by committed. This week they got a Jie. Now that's
a different guy. He's a different maker. Uh. For for a long time, Uh, that wide receivers Agrila was doing nice. What was the other kids name? Jeff No ashean Jeffers couldn't get no trash. What I'm trying to say is they found a way to win, Whether the coaches schemed them up to help them win, whether the players did a little extra work to put them self in the position to win. What we don't have and what we gotta get here, and it's gonna may still take another year,
it's maturity mentally and physical maturity and some depth. Yeah, that's the difference in Yeah, we cannot, we cannot think and nobody toots Sean lee Horn like Nate knew, I call him to terminator. He processes everything. He's thinking ahead of time. You know, y'all remember the movie when when the young lady thought she was talking to a mom' you see terminator and the young yeah, mom went overhead this hotel. Okay, dear, you be safe and make sure
you lock the dough. And then when they cut away and they showed the terminator talking like it like a mom. You get what I'm saying. Because he he processes everything. He thinking what the quarterback think, he's thinking what the running backs think. He's anticipating. Well, when Sean Lee leaves, I don't need for David Irvin, DeMarcus Lawrence. I'm talking about the front for I don't need for you to get out of character. Just make sure you had the
right play, play your gap. Make it easier for Hitchings to come downhill. Make it easier for Durant to come downhill. Make it easier for the guy with the names we can't even pronounce. We got in the trade the other day. Oh, march Lillard, march Lillard. Make it easy for these guys, these three or four guys that are named are good enough, more than good enough to do their job. Now, Yes, we're gonna ask that you strain a few more plays, but that's what you have to do it. You don't
question a mother's love for her kid. She's gonna do what's necessary. Area. You don't question your love for your teammates. You do what's necessary. You're supposed to be able to look Shaun Lee and is I hey, Sean boom boom, you get dat. I'll keep it warm for your dog,
But I don't feel to make some plays. Do you think there's something too when he's in there that he's so good, Like you said, he processes everything so fast and he's so smart that there's a comfort level from the guys around him that they know, okay, if if if I do my job or if I'm a little bit out of place, he's gonna let me know before the play goes in. When he's gone, they start overthinking like, yeah, where am I supposed to be? What am I doing?
What's this guy doing what? And when he's in there, it's kind of like they can do a little less. You can fix their mistakes. Yeah, what it is they don't have to be more than what they are. Sean Lee is uh is rare. I heard somebody said that on the radio or other. He's rare. He's unique. You don't You don't see many guys that can look at film. I know a lot of guys that look at a lot of film, but they ain't processing what he's processing.
They ain't putting the They mind, they mind, intil their bodies. You know, they can see, but they can't react to what they see. He believes what he see. He believes a little technique. He'll probably look at the film and he'll probably when you called Sean Lee in there looking at film out the six o'clock, it's probably something something that he saw in the guard or tackle in a certain formation. They did something and he wanted to just make sure that what he's was seeing was for real
when he made this movement. When this guy does it, I'm gonna tell you he used to be good at that. Byron Evans for Philadelphia. I don't care how I used to fake like I was gonna pull on certain plays. So he can look at look at me and say they're gonna pull it, they gonna pull. I can fake hit, but when I got rid of to pull next. It's something about certain guys that that that special. But when
you had that special guy. As a coach you have you you have to try to find transfer some of that to some of the other guys because, and I've been speaking frankly, when you ain't gonna have a guy with maybe twelve games or less, you gotta understand that somebody's got to take his place, and it can't be the same. Well, he's just a unique guy. No, No, we still got four games we got to play without him.
We maybe got five games. Now he missed only one game up with the last hamstrain too, So now we may be missed in the midst three because we got three three games in less than fifteen days. So you that can't be your rallying cry. Wait till Sean gets back, because we've heard that. I think what two and a half years ago, Hey, when Tony get back, that can't
be your rallying cry. I told Phillips, Rob Phillips, and I told Mickey at about the third week and I and I think, Robs, yeah, they're just waiting on Tony to get back. I said, well, let's stop doing the show. Let's just counsel all the sponsors. And oh we can't do that, man, We even show must go on. Okay, the football game is ain't gonna stop. Bro And guess what, Philadelphia, what they have bar and contracts is gonna be the same in the last week of the season, off season
and going into the next season, it ain't changing. You get a few different players, but they core players are staying. What you call it, Wentz. I don't know how, but he may get a little bit better. Yeah, I don't know how, but he may get a little bit better. I was talking to Moose Johnson this morning, him and him and Rick Gossin, and I'm gonna tell you something, Beard, I'm gonna tell you something. Kurt got his name right.
They said, well, you know they don't have a running game, and you know you don't have Tyron Smith, and you know you don't. I say, Fellas, I said, nah, no, no, no no, no, no, no, don't do that. Don't do that. I say we either as players gotta be better. Our coaches gotta scheme us into us a little bit of success, and we gotta go from that point. Because Jimmy Johnson told us one time we was grinding, we was crying. I think I said this Monday, we was, man, we
need to run the ball. You know, we lost the game, right, we need to run the ball. We only ran the ball, you know, fifteen twenty time and Jimmy just stopped us cold. Look listen our eyes to a man. And you want to get physical, right, yeah, sir, we want to get physical. He's where coach Turner called forty five passing plays. You better get as physical as you need to be because that is what we run it and that is what you better execute. Because now if you got a problem
with it, just come see me. We kind of looked at each other like then we have guaranteed contracts. I'm like, hey, they want to pass, I'm not home with See, it comes a point where you got a scheme a few of you guys to success. Not me helpful to me. Some guys gotta be take it personal. I mean that's maybe the key, because I mean, okay, we're we're without league. Who's gonna fill that void? Justin Durrant, you know we got it. He's not he's older, he's not gonna be great.
You know what you seem to having. Jalen Smith, he's they both they both thirty fifteen play guy. Yeah, I mean they package guys right now. I mean justin marsh Litard. We don't know what we got from him. He's young. I mean all these guys, we're nine games in. We know what they are. How can they will may have a little bit more to give. Well, let's hope, I mean, but we want them to play better. But yeah, can I mean, do they have it? Does it? Now? Come?
It's about the scheme they have to It's not it's about the coaching. It's about both we know, but we know we have in the players. That's my word. Yeah, I'm with you on which you. I mean, what how can they I mean, they're not gonna go from Dnnian Wilson to Sean Lee. It's just not there. So I mean, how do we how do they fix it? They just can't go play better. It's got to be a scheme
thing to me, and how does that happen? I guess you know, you have to ask yourself what I what I prefer Damien at, Mike h Hitchens at, Saint at Will and and other other guys at the you know, at the strong side, because you can't put guys out there that don't know what they're doing. Yeah, that's first of all. If you don't know and confident in what you're doing. You don't need to be out there because
more quarterbacks and running backs. And why Resly was been hurt by blown assignments than anything our lack of effort because you would think too much, so you slow down. If you watch Philadelphia's defense, are you watch the Rams defense? They are fast, But these are the same guys that played a year ago. You watched the Atlanta defense. They weren't playing that fast two weeks ago, but they were fast against That's because the coaches schemed it up. They're
real comfortable in what they're doing and they believe. This is the funny thing about it. And I hate to go back, but but I give a comparison last year this time. But we well, we well we worried about guys in their angles on in our secondary not as much, I mean not at all, not because they knew what to do, they knew where to be, and they were supreme.
When you played with supreme confidence, you get there. YEA A guy gotta rep his that you can get there a lot of times to all Nate as he thought, okay, we're here to have been a first round of second round. No, because shouldn't Anthony Brown be a better after a year of playing in this league, shouldn't he be better? Well, he had an edge. He wanted to show everybody in the world. Hey, I'm Anthony Brown. This is my world over here, this left cornerback. Well, now his technique slipping why,
I don't know, I don't know, but guess what. You gotta get that edge back, right, that's the difference. Last year he played with great speed, great hustle. This shit like he like looking in the backfield like like he a second slow. You gotta you gotta find that hunger that takes you over the top. I think part of that's not having that veteran help around him. I didn't
want to say it together in this situation. I know it's part ideal, but could you take a guy like Cavon Frazier who can hit, he's a tackler, he can you know, he's got more speed than a lot of those linebackers and move him up to cover some of what Sean Lee did only in nickel situations, probably, but just your base defense. It's hog gonna hog. They're killing yeah, you know, with hag gonna hog and everybody feeding the hurt him, don't hurt him, don't kill him till after tomorrow.
He's coming, He's coming on the show to morrow. Let me let me say this right here. And Cavlon Fraser is a perfect example. They gave him a few packages earlier in the year. He kind of didn't line up right, he kind of didn't make the tackle. But did he did? He did he boys head? Oh my god, did he tuck his tail? You know? He went, came back and
out caused two special teams turnovers. Yeah. That that that is what I'm That is what I'm hoping that these guys that kept me and kept me Kevin Golden, John Geezick, and I can't think who else was another guard. We were all kind of close together as far as how coaches want to start us, and we all had our strength and weaknesses. But I wasn't gonna let Kevin Gordan beat me out. I wasn't gonna let And it's called competition within here. Ain't got nothing to do with you,
and it ain't got nothing to do with you. He got some to do with me and you you have to have that in testing the fort two where you can't be beat you know, it could be Jerome Brown lining up in front of us, and that's one of the greatest Devons linement I ever played against. He can line up against Geezing, he can line up against Kevin, he can line up against me. And I knew I had a health of a mind of respect for him. But for my job, I'm gonna win today. I'm gonna
win today. I gotta win because I can't give it to my job. And they ain't had nothing to do it, no coaches. And I'm gonna tell you why. I know it didn't have nothing to do it, no coaches. We got time. I'm gonna tell you, tell you why. I was in the seventh I was in eighth, ninth grade at my junior high school. Kevin Lewis, forgive me. I'm not because I'm not Michael Jordan. I don't want to say I made it off Kevin. We was up under this, we had this, this, this, these bars where it went
across this way. He had come in up under them. It's about this tall and if you and it had and it was a square, and if you went up high, if you went up high, you got pushed back into that bar, and it hurt you. Back. Coach was a brutal back then. He was teaching you how to get up high. So I only played with it, you know, the direct leagues up there to that point. And so I watched a few guys go before me, and I guess because I was just as big as Kevin, and
Kevin played in the eighth grade. The coach said, hey, Newton, get in him. Yeah, you we'll see what you got. You know, because I didn't play that year before, they wanted me to play. And Kevin's gonna bring your back. You know, if you get up high, Kevin and that register Okay, if I stayed lower and I get off this rock, I'm gonna get Kevin. And the worst I was thinking, he ain't gonna be in my back. Well, I can get up high. Well, I got off on the snap count and I bent his back, and the
coach and Kevin got mad. One fight you and I looked at him like and the coach said, you can't do that again. Well the second time I did it almost took him over that ball. And when I got through, I checked myself and what I felt, what I found out about me was you can't just challenge me straight up as a man, and I don't react. You can't do that to me. And I've always had that. It happened to me a couple of times the college, which you have time for the stories happened to me a
couple of times in pros. You can't challenge me like that because it's something within me that comes up in me saying, Nah, you can't do me like that. That's something you can't teach. Yeah, so that's why I one drafted, that's one one drafted. They but but but I think yea, yeah, no to self, don't challenge name. But I don't know if you know these guys now, can can Anthony Brown find that that dog that doesn't get beat? You know? He can find it. It's I don't can't find it. Yes,
he can. It's each player how to check himself at a point in his career, whether it's young, whether you're young, whether you're in the middle of your career, whether you're at the end of your career, you gotta check yourself. I remember, man, towards the latter part of my year, had went to five straight Pro Bowls. Then I missed one. I was getting older, and I hurt my knee and mister Jones challenged me, hey man, you can't go out
of town. You know you're gonna stay here and work with Brown, and Brown didn't play like, Man, we can get you back to the Pro Bowl. That's that's going. He just set the gold himself and I work every day, every day, every day, every day. Man. Next thing you know, I'm landing there six months and I'm laying they're just chilling in the training room or with Valala Ranch. You know, just had had a nice eight piece whatever and enriched that room for Cap and said big nude. I said, yeah,
it was all rich. You made the Pro Bowl. Brother. It's all about challenging. It's all about who you are and what you're about. But now I would repeat this because I feel so bad for this kid. I'm Chaz Green and I never came close to that mini sacks being put on me. I don't know what that kid is thinking. I know his body language said I don't want no more. Yeah. Yeah, that was one thing we talked to Garrett. And this kind of goes to what
it's the confidence thing. Now, what does a guy like him do or what does a guy like Anthony Brown or Jalen Smith do he's kind of be in the same position where he's Jayalen don't have to worry. But he struggled, you know at times. And is that confidence? Do you set him down and kind of build him back up or you just we talked a little bit about it yesterday. Do you throw him back out there and right and what kind of He didn't really address him, but he's kind of like you have to put him
in the best situation and that kind of stuff. So I wish he'd been a little bit somebody know. He did what he had to do because he can't say no, we're not gonna put him back out there. It's gonna get to that kid, yeah, And he can't say yeah because not Byron Bell are like, wow, really, I don't get an opportunity, so you gotta keep it within the house. But I promise you. His offensive line coach had to say something to him like, hay Son, don't give up.
We believe in you and your chance to come again. Who knows this week maybe your opportunity, but you you you can't let me say this right here. Y'all have heard me say this since the first day I even put them on November nineteenth or whatever day, Philly. Remember when I say that, this is when it starts, because I hadn't seen nobody like Flesher Cox. The only guy that's like Fresher Cox. He plays for Miami, and I
don't think he cared right now, that's Sue. I mean, he still plays well, but he know week by week it is getting the lights, getting dem and demo. You know, you know, you know. Graham has five sacks, French Cox has four and a half. Vinny Cura has three, three sacks. Uh Derek Barnett from Tennessee has two sacks. Chris Long has three sacks. I mean, and he and see Fletcher calls him saying how good he is. I watched the last game this morning. He calls, he calls the interception.
He didn't get the sack, but just as dude was throwing the ball, he made him short on it and it was a bomb and he just floated up there. One of the dbs came right in there and took it away. Man, I want to say with either Patrick Robinson now it was it was it was the safety running running uh Nlord or something like that. Rotten and mclod Yeah, I hope it's his name, right, Uh yeah, that's you know, he's a force man. He's and I'm gonna tell you why he's a Force members Chaunt Thornton.
He was never the same guy when he got to us, Ben in Logan and sitting up there and with Kans City saying, wow, ain't the same guy because you didn't take your other half, which now people say your wife is your better half. You left your better half and baby, that's why this dude's still balling without you. Two guys. Yeah, yeah, so how do you? I mean, that's what I was
looking at this Philly stats earlier. I mean they're first and run defense first, first against Let me tell you, let me get you a little short one last year. This is how good we was last year. We're getting ready to play green Bay. Last year green Bay sixty six yards. They're giving up rushing. We didn't. We all laughed as fans. Okay, well after the game, one hundred and thirty five yards. You know, even Philadelphia, we got on them a little bit, not for a whole lot,
but we got on them. And that's what I try to tell people. Now, they eight and one, they nine games in. I think they sixty six yards is for real? They're giving up? Yeah? Yeah, So I mean you got that on the one hand, and then the other you got the twenty five sacks, and I think that they're giving up an eleven interception. Yeah, they're tight for ninth and passer rating against. I mean so nineteen point nine points a game, yeah, I mean fifteen yards a game. Yeah,
let's just not go to the stadium Sunday. I'll tell you what, man, Just how do you I'm gonna tell you what I would do. Man. Back then I weighed like three to sixty were now three twenty three thirty five. What I do, man, is I go out there, you know, tell the chair, the training, I tell the equipment mass it man this week here, give me a large job. Is the nature a triple at them? Give me a
large I gotta tighten up. I got tightened up, like you're like a yeah, tighten tighten it up, baby, get them up and get them high and starts stepping like a like a like a Clyssdale baby. Stop praying. Let them know. You know what I'm saying. Even though you don't feel that way, that job so tight to you, rubber, little hot sauce, come out just balling and way the one. Yeah, I gotta do something. Something falls alcohol alcoh. I love that one. Let's get this thing back on the rails

He looked like he's kind of Moorish, don't he. What do you mean Moorish? Kellen Moore? That guy can grow facial hair. Yeah, I don't think Kelly could grow a beard. Okay, all right, Well, all right, so since Nate's gonna pick us up, he gonna keep our spirits high. Hurt's worried about this game. Kurt throw some stats out here that
that speak doom and gloom on Sunday. Well, we already talked about the defense somehow dominating they can be, and then you look at the offense side of the ball. I mean, thirty one point four points a game. That's ranks some second. Yeah, how many points are they giving up a game? Nineteen and a half there, that's a
little bit of a different. Three hundred and seventy seven yards per game, five point seven yards per play, forty six point something, third down percentage, Thomas possession thirty three twelve. I mean it's offensively, they ranked damn near number one yea in every category. I mean, wins has just been off the charge. He's an MVP candidate. This year they added a ja who's you know he was dangerous yard. Yeah, I mean the Nate mentioned at the top of the show. There,
they're wide receivers are coming along. They got a pretty good core there with with Jeffreys and Jeffrey and um Jason zach Ertz is zach Artzer tight ends best. I mean, wow, they they nice. Man. There's a reason there, what nearly seven points favorites in our building Nelson Aglar boy and he to the aim had to use Torre Smith. I didn't even know he's on the team. Nah, Nate's don't find out, Okay, don't put him on the map. Yeah. Please.
What's the biggest game you remember playing in where nobody gave y'all a shot and you wound up winning the game? Because at first Buffalo Super Bowl game, really the first NFC Championship game against the forty nine ers, so that whole playoff people wrote you off shot ninety I guess ninety one game at the Bears playoff game. You guys weren't expected them. Nah, but see that was that was the deal, and that one so much because people didn't
believe it was good. Is that they were anti cowboy because all the all the big wigs, even after we won the Super Bowl, even in the next year, it just won the way it was the forty nine ers year. It was this person year. Oh my god, look for these guys to step up to the plate. Kansas City was supposed to do something big. Everybody was supposed to do something except us. That's what made Jimmy, uh go, how about them cowboys? Because nobody was believing in us.
And that's when he told people in three inch Capital because everybody like, what do you think I mean? I remember, Uh, one game was getting ready to play Green Bay and Milwaukee. That's when both teams had been on the same sideline and uh, Randy Gross, I think men Randy Cross, Uh cross a lineman for that's cross, Randy Cross him and this guy was there was interviewing to me, say what, Jimmy, see, y'all want a few games and we see you're starting
to get better. But the Screen Bay team is this, and this Screen Bay team is dad and wow, man, uh he's gonna be a struggle. Jimmy said, yeah, we'll barely win this, but wins at home, we'll blow him out and so hey, we you know, so here we go to the next day, get rid of for the game, and Jimmy tells us, hey, we're gonna beat these guys. He say, plays, I'm not asking nobody to do nothing extraordinary, play smart and play hard, and we would just get
out of here with a victory. He said. It may not be by a lot of points, but if you play hard and you play smart, we're better than them. And I promise you we'll get out here with the victory. I guess that's the key to any Cowboys success now is play hard, play smart. Yeah, talent wise, there probably not going to stack up as well. We'll see. Talent is only as good as your confidence and its success you've had and doing it before the Cowboys has had success.
Now this is the this you said, the key word. Now you gotta match up with somebody that's equal or better than you, whether it's through confidence or whether it's just through being physically better. And and and you know, and I always said my wife, we're watching games, you know, and and people say why I say, you know, I said, that looks good. You know. That's why That's why I kind of got away from college football because UH into recently. I like how it's formatted now because you do see
Studds play Studds during the year. But I want to see how you stack up when it's equal. I hate blowouts. I want to see George and Auburn play every week and see if Georgia for real. I want to see USC and and UH and Stafford played every week, see if they for real. I want to see this. I want to see Bama and and Clemson played every week that style. I want to see who's for real and nine time by the team you find out real quick and see. Now the Cowboys and they supposed you did
what you supposed to do. You supposed to beat the for the night is you're supposed to beat the red Skins. You did what you supposed to. You came and played the team that you were equal to and and in Kansas City, and you beat them because you played hard and you played smart. They only had three stars. I don't care what nobody say. Had three stars on the offense, one star defense, and he wasn't full speed. I was Houston.
That was your stars. Now, Peterson was a corner, but the way he played, the softness is where he played with. You know, he was only effective if you come to his side. This last team we played had star us up and down the table. Unfortunate for us, a non star guide us. But they had stars up, you name it. They got up and coming guys and guys that are elite already there. Well, if the other team had three,
they had six. Well, now you'vein to play another team that is equal to most of those spots are better. How do you play? This is where the coaches have to scheming up right. This is where the players have to execute to perfection. They ask y'all a question. We talked about this at lunch. I think it was me and Lindsay and Derek and Dave. Why do you think it's been so hard? This is kind of a big
picture of question. Why do it been so hard for this team since the nineties to put together consistently good seasons back to back. It's like they have a good year, then they fall off, and then they have a good year and then they fall off or their or their average back to back to back. Why why do you think we have an established depth? We have an established depth? Does that go back? Does that go back to the draft?
Yea drafting drafting Sary Cap. Yeah, we we have always been over to Sarah Cap because when it first started, Missus Jones is going to get the best player that can fit into our as systems. Well, you got so much into the I guess the red They called it a dead money. So you got to be a little bit smarter. And so you invested a lot of money into Tony early, and we didn't invest into our offensive line. We kept investing in the Stars wide receiver. This guy
wasn't look good running back. This guy was average. Now we got a running back. He's not here. So we got better than average guys. We got better than average guys. Well, we're invested in our offensive line. Well we shop and see this is where I'm different than most people. We got three studs, only got two. Now that's our center and right guard, our right tacklers coming l to me is coming Okay? Now you got three way a better better than average player. That should be enough on your
offensive line. You should be able to scheme it up, get it going so things can be a little bit more successful. You have a quarterback. I feel that it's better than adequate. I still think he got a lot of growing to do. But he's better. He's better than adequate. Now give him a chance to help you win. Give him a chance. Our receiver, Dad's Bryant has to play big. It's no, it's no if, no nds, no butts. You have to play big. You have to become Dad's again
by any means necessary. Because Cole and Rick Godson says something so right, if we're gonna have to start getting the ball out much quicker, Cole has to be a bigger factor. Yeah, Cole has to be a bigger factor. It's got half as many catches as you did this time last year. I'm along with Witt, but Cole has to be a bigger factor. What better way to get him going is we hit is Dad's just open up? See. I don't know if it's the system that where Dad's
ain't doing this thing. I don't know if his dad's but I know the situation that we need is dire right now. So we need him to be play big. That's just what I believe. I thought he was headed for a big game last week. YEA, two pretty quick catches. They got him going early, had four catches in the first half, and then nothing the rest of the game. And so I don't and I don't know if that's
him or the play call or or what. But when when you when you had a quiet year so far, you always hear a coach talk about snatching momentum and then snatch momentum. They did not give it back. Everybody's that's what confidence do. We took a team that was four and four, giving up twenty two point five points a game, couldn't stop the run, uh average on pass defense. We took and gave them life, and all of a sudden, we're looking at a different defense. You know what they
gave up last week? Three hundred twenty two hundred and thirty three yards. Yeah, total total that that that ain't that ain't the average. They give up one hundred more yards than that, so that ain't the average. But they wouldn't. But once you get confidence, man, you think you can tat down a brick wall. Do you think a good
game plan going into this week is? You know, you got issues on the on the left side of the offensive line, getting Coal involved more, getting Whitten out and getting them in routes and getting the ball out quick. Because last year it seemed like the Giants had problems early in the season, and then when Eli figured out how to get the ball out of his hands really quick, that's when their offense started clicking three step drop bam, as soon as you hit your back foot the balls
coming out. Do you think that's what they need to do? And and you know whether it's there or not, three steps get the ball out and not not. Yeah, you gotta, yeah, you gotta. You gotta pick your spots because if it's if it's second and seven, second and eight and it ain't no quick, Yeah, they ain't no quick. If it's third and ten, third and fifteen and ain't no quick, you gotta you gotta know when you walk up. You gotta know the snap count more than anything, and you
gotta know who to block more than anything. And not a fight starts from there. Because what's been happening to us is penalties. We don't have a lot of them. We had like five for like fifty eight yards somewhere around that, but two of them was holding. Can't have that. Man here talked a little bit about getting it out quick, and they said that, oh yeah, that's what she said. Yeah, Tommy Johnson, get it out a lot quicker quick, But
they say he said they tried. That was part of their They tried to help Chazz a little bit by getting the ball out quick. But you know, in some cases it was there weren't enough time even with that Clayborns getting around the corner. Other times that act just didn't get it out quick. And other times, guy like Beasley, his first look was, you know, they covered him, so that he said that was part of their plan and what they wanted to do, and I just didn't work either.
What else did he What else did he said? He also said that they he implied that they asked the backs to chip that Clayborne sometime and they just didn't do it. You know, just whatever happened, it just that's that's what it sounded to me. Maybe I heard that wrong, but um that just some of the things they were trying to do. Just part of it was it wasn't just chadz execution. Yeah, it wasn't just chads execution, but his execution and other areas of the line, the backs,
the quarterback, everybody. So I don't know, it was interesting too. So they say they tried to get the backs she's chipping and so they just missing too. Huh, So I don't I didn't quite get all that understand that either, but he made it sound like it wasn't all chats messing up his execution. It was a group Kurt Nick. What we need you to do going forward is when you don't fully understand something show, you got to ask a follow up question. You gotta get in the scrum
and go, okay, coach, let me get this right. Am I hearing you right? Because we don't need you come on the show going well, I might have misunderstood it, That's what I heard, because he go in because you now you making me now you're thinking made me think Clayborne is uh some math on bewitch. He just winkled his nose in the back looked like what it looked like, Oh you know what? A Chatz couldn't touch him right man? That mojo going, I'm about to go with my man
on this is Kurt you got me on that. I'm like, why what do you say to get in there? Man? What he talked? What yesterday at three? And then had he talked today? Yeah? It was today? That was today? Was that the walk off? Or was that during Okay, now we're trying to Gal now, real cur who're getting putting curdl on the spot? Tomorrow is gonna be so fun without you, Nate, I don't know how the hell we're gonna fill an hour. Y'all gonna get it done. A lot of Douglas, A lot of Douglas and Tommy,
John Douglas and Cavan. I got confirmation and forward to that confirmation that Cavan's gonna come on. He's been doing some cool stuff in the community. Yeah, we needn't hit that hard. Yeah, you might stay longer. Are we talking about that? I are you snickering back there? Who is that? That's Chris Gross, don't say anything. Let's see the thing about it is which you see. It was funny. You got to hit that hard. Every guy on this team has to hit it hard. Whoa over again? Please pull that? Yeah?
Please pull that? Wow. Oh, let's take our last break. When we come back, Kurt's gonna hit it hard. They said, you know, Wednesdays normally. He hasn't been practicing covers back, so they're not ruling him out. They're just he didn't practice Cheeto adobie a cheetobi a woozier. He did practice. That don't mean nothing, Yeah, but I think they held him out. That that what we talked
about holding him out one week. They held him out last week because he had a good week of practice, so they said, Okay, let's hold him out one extra week. You know what I'm saying that that that that thing healed tight now yea, because he made he made the trip. Uh yeah, this past week. I thought he was gonna suit up, but then he came out and he wasn't. Even he was in sweats. So I think they warmed him up and then you know, he just give him that same time slide and let him warm up. Now
you come back and come on. Dez did not practice today. He's nursing the sore nie still, all though he looked finding the other day. M Heath is in the concussion protocol, just like Beasley was last week. Basley did not practice on Wednesday, but worked his way back. And then they're not saying it sounds terribly serious with heath, but he did not practice today. Bailey is obviously still out back in the lineup working out. In addition to Woozier was
Jeff Swain. He did not play Sunday because of his knee, but he was back today. Yeah. I talked to him in a talked to him in the locker room yesterday, and it sounds like he's gonna be good to go. Yeah. They made it sound like, Man, did you see that hit they put on Jeff? You gotta hit Jeff no bad he put He put every bit of his shoulder and elbow rat in his face, masks every bit of it. Man. Special teams are I don't know because I because I said,
what's wrong with Jeff? I caught the end of the highlight. It's like you turning around and getting punched? Oh? Is that when he came out to field with it looked like his shoulder was hurt. Yeah, everything was hurting. Yeah, I mean what Rege White did? Kevin Golden once? What's wrong? Kevin? Where you heard that? Everywhere? What's yours? Since since it's Eagles week? What's your favorite or fondest? It? Can it can be good or bad? Memory of Cowboys Eagles. I
know you can probably rephrase that. Yeah, just something that stands out because I know, what's your fondest, good or bad member, what's your fund? I have no fund is bad bad Louisiana vocabulary and Nate saw a lot. Yeah the Bounty Bowl game, weren't you. Yeah that was here when when they had bounties and no, that's where here when we when they hit some days, you know they cheap shot of the k Yeah, staggered off the field. Why would he was a trash target? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
trash target. There's a game where cunning him knee and then threw a bomb. Yeah, it's just we You know, there's a old left game up there where it was cold. It's where I can't think of the young man's name. He was a safety. Muddy Waters try to take out Ahimit knees and m it about to fight and we all about to fight, and oh man, just love and sack game. I mean it ain't number. Nightmare after nightmare after nightmare. The only great time we had against them
is we had our first playoff run. We went through them. Take got us for a love of sacks. We hit him with an eighty nine yard punt return by Kevin Martin. That's right, y'all got well evan and a half sacks against you and still wanted no. Two weeks later, three weeks they looked that up, my friend, I think it was ninety one. Two weeks later through later week on them. That was regular season reckless. K Mart had punt returned for a touch to get us to the player. And
then you got to the playoffs. You had to play him again and you beat him worse. I think, no, no, no, we played uh. I think that year that we played uh Detroit. He ain't got small super Bowl. I got those reversed. I thought, yeah, look it up. I think, well, we'll see ninety and ninety one. I think ninety two was Kate Mart's punt return. No, no, okay, bears in Detroit one um, and we played we haven't played Detroit and barrass Sanders. He put on the displayed never to
be seen again. When you had the they got eleven sacks. That's right, and so in Kate Martin. The next game we played them, and then when we played them again, we played them again, right, having games them week sixteen, Yes, sir, and you beat him. That was the game where Jimmy Johnson told the quarterback Steve burlin Son in the first half, I don't care if you complete a pass if you don't see if the receiver is not wide open when you are when you dropped back and hit your third,
fifth or seventh step, throw it away. Offensive line, if you got the gals kicks, scratch clip, do not let him touch the quarterback. And he said, we'll get him in the end. We'll get him in the end. He did, what do you think, Uh, what do you think Barry Sanders's career would have looked like if he'd run behind y'all's offensive line. We had a fullback. He wasn't a fullback type guy. He was the original fread offensive running back. He uh, just think if he wanted to retire this dude, man,
this this this, this dude, God don't make him like him. Man, That's what I tell people. When you look at Michael Jordan, you know, God said, hey man, they go Mike. You know. Then God said, hey man, they go Lebron They God said hey, they go Larry Bird. Because it ain't no more of them. Now you can get people that say, hey, oh it goes Zeke at it. But Zeke ain't him, Larry Bird ain't magic. They just all unique specimens. Did
you ever play the Raiders when Bo Jackson was playing. Yeah, I think I caught the beginning of that Bow was something special. Man. He was the original Nike man. He was the original Nike Bo knows he started so bad. He just came up with two words, Bow. Now, you don't start her. Now he worked on it. Yeah, man could become better back then he plays good time. Boh nos. I remember that poster him in the shoulder pads. Yeah,
it was a score football card too. I think every kid had that poster and the Michael Jordan with the tongue out yeah coming from the poster. He didn't old guys like us had had to Jay. Yeah you know, I I was uh. And Bow was known as a as a good guy when he played for the Royals, but was playing here versus the Rangers at Arlington Stadium. I'd heard that he stayed after a game and signed until every fan in that stadium who wanted his autograph had gotten it. I was growing up in Kansas City
when he was there. He really he was a big Yeah, funny story. I think when he first went to the Royals. He got in the clubhouse and he went around with all the guys, introduced himself and handed out like trade baseball cards with his heisman trophy. Al McCray was like the old crusty vetter and he walked right behind him and grabbed him all up. Said you don't do that here, rookie. Yeah, I'm a craig with shoot to Kevin. I had that poster and I had Doomsday defense poster with imamstones. Yeah,
with the stones and Randy White and his dust out way. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we got time. I'm gonna tell you, man, my boy Tony Hayes, he pleased the Dallas Police Office. Is his thirtieth year when I played it fam Tallahassean, Florida. You know he was. He was the only freshman starting and say I always set my goals big, and as a freshman, I'm like, man, I'm gonna start. So I ain't hanging with it. You ain't start, man, forget you. I'm gonna find out how to start. I ain't know. I had
to just work hard. But anyway, I went to this house, right, we went this. I walked to his house because he was a homegrown kid from Salahassea. So we went over the own Polk Street. I said, five fifteen Polk Street. So were walking to his house. You know, like yo, Tony Man, you know, we get to know he's just like, man, what's your favorite teammates? Man, I'm a cowboy? I said, Wow, Man, I'm a cowboy, and we can wait to talking about
you know, Tony Jord said, and Bob Liland. You know, we're just trying to see who all knew who if you're really a cowboy fan, you know what I'm saying, not like you talking about mister Witness stop it, but anyway, you know what I mean. Anyway, Uh notice I called him mister Whitten. We get to his house. Right in his room, you go around the corner and he got this big old king size bed. You can barely get around this room because you know, mama got in his
big old king size bed. And so I'm just looking at this big old bed. He we just kind of hey, man, I just lay back on the bed and watch TV. So when I turned around, the lay back on the bed. We're gonna lay back on his big king side bed on the wall was I think the seventy seven or was it the seventy seven or seventy one poster of them went in the Super Bowl and had a big team picture. Yeah. I looked at my partner tone of Hays I say T. I said, man, I say one
of us gonna play for the Dallas Cowboys. And I looked at him and me being me said most likely it's gonna be me. I said, I'm telling you, this is how I said, Man, we'll ever do it. Get tickets for the other one. I came out here. Man. Two years later, guess who showed up? My boy T Hayes. As long as I was a cowboy and playing, he had season ticket. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, my boy, man, that's my boy. Yeah, that's speaking up. Are you up part
of anything on Sunday? Yeah? Yeah, we gotta be that five third, I'm gonna go upstairs and get my package from Miss Emily, my wife. Don't call me eight times. So if you're doing, if you're going to the game, pre game, and if even if you're not, we're gonna stream it on Facebook Live. They are honoring what ninety
two Cowboys for the eighteen thousand times. Yeah, on the field pre game, they're bringing all the guys back, and I think everybody's and Missus Jones is getting his jacket, his ring at halftime he's getting then Randy White is getting heels too because they went made biggers. They say, don't rings. It ain't bigger than some girls wedding band. You have your pole girl and get away. I love you baby, to get a bubble gum rings. Who haven't
you seen recently that you're looking forward to seeing? Uh? When Troy did the thing back, I saw just about everybody, man, And then I called everybody. You don't remember Derek Gana who played with his own he was Yeah, I called him the other day. What year was Ricky Blake? That guy was good. Yeah, I forgot, I forget. I remember. I don't remember what year Ricky Blake played, But uh, guess who I saw was? Uh, what's the guy, big, big running back? I can't think of his name? Cleveland
Gary Nah? Nah nah? Man? Are they doing a dinner or anything? I don't know what they're doing. Man. If I got to be that five thirty man, I'm gonna beat that. I gave up my spot at my radio show, my Free Games. Oh wow, yeah, man, I can't do uh the halftime show here that me and brought us. Dude, so figured you guys to be getting together Saturday night, hitting the town all that we're living Old Stone. Nah Man, you know no, no, no, Nate, you'd be proud of me. Man.
Even after all the strip club talking Atlanta, I didn't go to one, even after even after I was tempted. I would like to say, y'all the story one time. If I knew some kids and women's want to listening. I saw my past about that strip pole share strip Pole Olympics. Baby, I can we have that conversation off there? Yeah, we would do. While we're walking up Wow, we'll tune into Facebook Live pregame you. We're gonna stream that live
from the field and then halftime. They're giving the NFL's giving us a special exemption because it's uh mister Jones is uh ring ceremonies. We'rena they're gonna take his team from him, right, we asked for them. Gonna take your team, Jerry, you make us the most money, you make us the most profitable, but we're gonna take your team right necessarily, And you know what, he would probably just be like, fine, I'll go start my own league. You'll definitely get all
