Speaker 1

The following. He's a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. Flow way out of the backfields, flooding down the sidelines. He's hanging with the Boys, broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star in Frisco. Now your host, Nate Newton, Kurt Daniels, and Shannon Gross. We are back most of us, at least Shannon Gross, our illustrious leader, is lounging and frolicking on the beaches of Mexico this week. This is Kurt Daniels

filling in for him. I got our man, Nate dun Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's be right to last episode. You did watch it. Let's get right to our special guest here, the man. Yes here, we are lucky to have Will McClay. Thank you, Will for cool coming on, guys, the leader of our very much impressive, much talked about scoutary department. You guys have been on a great run of luck here. I guess not luck, but a great run of us. It's luck involved in it too. You know what's amazing is

I gotta get this out of the way. Uh, And it's more about him and before we saw about anything. Tell us how important zekiels to this team? The running back Ezekiel? Are you just gonna go right there? I mean, he's extremely important because of our identity on offense is physical, our identity on defense is physical, and you got to have people that are physical if that's gonna be what you're all about, right, not only be physical, but be a different player in all three downs. Um, he's extremely

important to what we do. Going back to you know, the Emmets and how the Cowboys were built. Yeah, and nobody's denying that. Okay, Okay, now let's move all. We really brought mister mcclear here to talk about this this last draft, who these players are, who he think they could be. And then we'll move from that to many camps to this because we already had a rookie camp. So you start anywhere you want on any of these players and just give us a little tit bit of

what you feel good about them. I think if you just go down, you know, the first one without the first round pick is of Maria Cooper. They're not a first round pick. And now continue to say that because when you look at the draft, you have to consider that we had to consider it when making the move. You know, that's an asset, and you know you talk start talking about cap and all those other things. But a difference making player. I think we got that in

the first round pick. And then when you go with Tristan, it's adding depth and quality, depth and competition to the defensive line. He is a three technique over three hundred pounds, with quickness, with length and the play temperament to fit our style, you know, Conor mc govern keep our strength strong, Yes, sir, he was there. He was available for us, and when you're looking at it, you never know what tomorrow brings.

We learned that from what we went through with Travis and trying to keep that offensive line strong so that Zeke can be Zeke and Dak can be Dak and a Maria can be a mar I think we have to our approaches to get the front line right. So we did that, and then we went with Tony Pollard in the fourth round. A back that can do a lot of things. You're doing something wrong, duh, I don't go. But a guy that can do a lot of things.

He can run the ball inside. We feel like he came in and he was you know, he's two hundred and nine two hundred and twelve pounds. Um can run inside, outside, play on special teams, and do all those things and has the energy. And when he came in and rookie Minicamp, he's one of those guys that it just felt like

belonged in his presence when he came in there. And then you had the Jackson two we didn't get, you know, Tito, and we got Joe and Michael, both players that played in the ACC that have something to contribute to us. I think Mike has the length and the ability that coach Richard has had, you know, he's had great success with. And then Joe. When Rod went to go work out Joe, he came back saying, that guy has the right type of mentality. So when you bring that in, and then

let's see who else we had. We had Joe, Mike to run down him, Draft Befause, Big Doll, Donovan Wilson in there, weber Len jils with with Donovan, we went into the deal. People were talking about we needed a safety where we took care of things in free agency to shore us up there. We feel good about our safeties. I know we won eleven twelve games with the guys that we had last year, but we always want to improve that. So we signed George I. Local. We got

guys coming back from last year. And then we saw Donovan Wilson and part of the defenses. You got to have a temperament. When you watch tape on him, he's got a temperament to play the right way. That's number thirty seven. Uh. He was for for a and m he remember him in a little slot. Were the rookies well with the rookies because we didn't have numbers. It's the ability to cover. He's gonna you know, he's played some in the slot, he's played some corner, he's played safety.

We're expecting him to be competing for a safety spot. But the more you can do in this NFL gives you more more variables. Uh. And then Mike Webber was another back. What we wanted to go into the draft was strengthening the running back room. Uh. He has some Zeke type traits. He runs well in our system. He thinks if we think he fits that way. And then Jalen Jelks is a guy that um again just to me, he was a guy on tape from the Senior Bowl

and everything else. He played all over the place. There were some ear markings of when we watched uh DeMarcus Lawrence when we drafted him. He was in that defense. He was playing a four eye, he had to create pressure, lined up against the guard, all those things, and he played extremely hard and was produced. And I think he's got the temperament that if you got to have the right temperament to get right around Rode because he's gonna get it out of you. And I think that Jalen

has that. I'm actually more impressive what you guys did in the undrafted guys. And how does that work? Is it just everybody starts hitting the phones with the connections they've made. I mean, how how are you able to We went out microphone check one too on. Maybe his headphones are malfunctioning. We went out and it's all of us, So we went out. He'd tell us, when we can hear you? We back? Are we back? You never left?

We could still hear you in here, So there must be something going on with the heavy bag screen back. What are you doing to its Douglas? We could take a break and figure this out. Well, how do you have time? Well? Yeah, I got a few minutes. Okay, we'll take a quick breaking, yeah, very quick, and we'll be back on hanging with the ball. We're sorry about that. We couldn't hear ourselves. Apparently we never went off the air. But back to the question, Will, Like I said, I'm just impressed with how you were able to work that undrafted scene afterwards and is it just guys getting on the phones with people they know contexts? How are you able to bring in this talent? Yeah, well, I'll tell you what. We had a different process this year.

We looked at the inefficiencies of last year and we had a number of guys on our board that were there.

So when we started the process, the area guys now we call them the GM of their Errors or six guys, and they know all the players and the contacts there and so they established the relationships with those players We started calling probably Friday Saturday, just kind of touching base, checking in with guys, and then it was the work that the scouts had put into kind of you know, we we had exposure to a lot of these guys

and we just continued to recruit them. Then we got the coaches on the phone, We figured out the money part of it and how we were going to attack it, and then we hit the ground running early on Saturday to make sure that we kind of stayed on top of it and stayed on top of guys, and then it was coaches and scouts selling the opportunity with the Cowboys and our success record with free agents is it become a situation where you know, already you got a

pretty good end with like a Daniel Wise, but maybe not so much with a Jalen Jokes. So that's a guy, you know, if we're gonna get and we gotta draft him, Yes, well there's a possibility. We felt like he was a good enough player and looking at our numbers as what we had to fill within the roster and who was the best player up there and who could we get.

There's a lot of things that go into that, but it was the relationship that started with Kat talking to Jalen, Jim Abrams who's now gone, those guys establishing that relationship with him early on, and we knew the guys that we felt like we wanted to get. Yeah, it just amazes me that you can talk Mitch Hyad, who was an All American clips in the National Champs, to come to here when you've already got such a loaded offensive line.

But you know the advantage to that is if he comes in compete well other teams seriously, especally, if he can hold on to the to the last cut other teams was hum We know by him not being drafted, something was missing physically that people probably like, you know, but he came to the Cowboys who have a good off his line and when sometime when you get released from that situation, if he don't make the team, you know because something was missing, but maybe we can get

it out of him and he makes our team, you never know, makes our practice squad and somebody will getting this kid, because I believe when you go to a good team, a solid team, team that spending a strength is offensive line play that can't even be nothing but

a plus, no question. I mean That's what we do is we look at the roster after the draft, after free agency, all that stuff, and as we go into training camp, looking at the strength of the teams and saying, okay, shoot, they got six players already, right, there may be these guys, so you start studying them a little bit more. And I think for a player coming into this situation, you want to learn from the best. You want to be

a part of the best. And if you're a competitor, And that's the thing that really drove me about Mitch's with all those things that we're out there, he wanted to come here in this situation. So it gives us a little insight into his personal character that he wants to compete with the best. Now, mister McClay katie did rookie mining camp last week? How did this? How as a scout and you've been the leader of these guys, that directed these guys. What give us the insight of

what you do? Like now OTAs just starting soon to be a regular mini camp. What do you do? What do you do well? We're always evaluating our roster. I think the thing for us is to have a handle on what we have in the building. Look, at what is going on, Where are the strengths and weaknesses everywhere? You want to follow injuries, and it's just evaluating our

roster every day. Now we get an opportunity to have the guys in our building kind of bounce around to different meeting rooms and see how the players are taking things in see if they're able to retain, do they take notes or they're serious about it. Get a good opportunity to look at some kind of off the field characteristics of the players. How well he learns, how hungry he is, is he willing to do the extra stuff. I like to watch the guys in the lunch room.

You know, there's just different opportunities to observe these guys now that they're in our building. What we do is and scouting is, especially the college side. We talk to people about people and then we formulate our opinion on people. We still don't know him, so when we get him in our building, it's trying to learn these guys. What the bad If there's a bad side of having such a great draft class like twenty sixteen is now you got to pay all these guys. How much is your

department involved with that aspect of it? Deciding you know, who stays, who goes, who gets paid wood, that kind of thing. I think we evaluate the players on an even plane to know where we're strong and where we're weak, where the good players are, and kind of have a barometer as to, you know, where our guys are compared to the league and looking at numbers. I'll have a little bit more conversation in that that's more done up top with those guys as far as setting the market.

But we look at and we're aware of it. And the biggest key to me is if you continue to draft well, if we do good things, then the next person's going to come along and then you can make those business decisions that are right for the club as opposed to reach in or you know, doing some things that maybe put you in cat purgatory down the line. You've had some changes now in the scouting department. A couple of long times guys been in your West Coast

guy Jeff Jim Abrams, he lived has that. I guess now it's a good time to make changes, I guess. But yeah, I think the thing that the Dallas Cowboys always have had is a group of people, like people know when you're with the Cowboys, you're a life or most scouts stay for a long time, and in other places it's kind of a consistent movie. Gonna mcdonne's yeah yeah, lost over one hundred years of experience to guys that know and respect very highly. Um and what they brought

into the organization. Now, it's our job as a scouting department they've moved on, is to find the young guys and build them up our way and continue to grow our scouting staff. Wow, let me say this, You've got this a busy year, this time of the year. I know it's always be, but this time, YE know greatly. How's how's the family? How's everybody good? Good? Twelve or

my son's twelve thirteen? Getting ready to play seventh grade football? Right, all that stuff, So everybody's good and blessed to you know, be where we are and continue to do what we do. Catch your breath a little now, A little bit, a little bit, y'all were talking about Game of Thrones in the um during the draft meetings. Everybody was giving me a hard time because I called it dungeons and dragons, Right, I wouldn't watch that stuff. Well. After the draft, I

needed to do something to get away. So I started watching Game of Thrones. Yeah, yeah, I got sucked in. I got I got sucked in so much last night. No, I got sucked in so much. I'm on season eight, number four. Okay, I'm not gonna say that from the draft. So, yeah, you've watched the seasons since. I might have skipped a season because with all the names and the people, I get lost. Yeah, but the WhiteWalls it sub Yeah, he doesn't watch it, but he knows everything that goes on.

You don't watch it. He claims he doesn't watch it. I'm not gonna say. Okay, but wife watches and he's on the couch. Yeah exactly. But became thank you. Did you have anything else for No, Well, I talked to you all day. Yeah, I know you got a lot of stuff. We thank you very much for coming in. Appreciate you guys. Yeah, Yeah, I love it every time him and Chris. Yeah, but I think they do a tremendous job for this for the Cowboys.

The work work very well with the with management. They're upper management is the Jones is, because that's the Jones is the Yeah I'm saying, Yeah, he's about he's the right hand man. Yeah, so man, what I love him? Man? What to get him on here sometime and just talk like he's got an interesting background, you know, yeah, yeah, arena league. You know, I wanted to find out sometimes like if he was looked down upon or something because he wasn't an NFL guy, you know, if he was

coming from the arena side and everything. See, and that's the thing that you have to respect about the Jones is, mister Jones and his family is if they think you got something to offer to the Dallas Cowboys and impact in a positive way, they're gonna they're gonna step out and give you that opportunity. Man. Yeah, I mean they gonna give it. It ain't gonna be a year. They're gonna give you two or three years to show what

you can do. Yeah, And he had a lot of success with the Dallas Desperado to Coach of the Year one year, had to be playoffs three or four times. So one of these days we gotta get him on and learn a bit, a little bit more. Yeah, just the life of Will because he got a big, long title. I hated asking with you. He got a big it's like director, a player personnel or something. I'm not even scouting directed this down. I'm like, man, he's the head man though. Yeah. So you ota start tomorrow, open to

the media on Wednesday. You're gonna check Wednesday. Man, what I'll do? Man, I want to get men you can get together, you know, and kind of just throw some things around because you know, I won't be going to training camp this year so far, I don't think I'm going either. So they're talking about we may do the show here, That's what I'm saying. And so we bring in Shannon and then they, uh, Derek is working dealing. Thank you boy. Anyway, Uh that word that he used

and get me some taking him. I like you like that dog? You like that? I did? Yeah, lead lead, Yeah it's gonna be we'll see. We're still trying to work out the plans for training camp. Man. I'm telling you what what they have done this year, and I knew this was gonna happen, is they have trimmed off the fat not and what I like large that I'm gonna hunkle fat me so so I like. Uh but and I told a lot of people They're like, man, you look discippline and said, nah, man, it's been a great,

fabulous six or seven years. You know, I've been blessed. But we're gonna try to work out something because mister Eagleton I boss, he loves podcast. Yeah, and I think we did a number one rated even we ain't a number one rate. Now we're saying, yeah we award with it. Baby. We ain't got no trophies yet, but uh we're number one, right, you keep up with that scheck. Yeah we're shot here. I'll just have to be the authority on that. Thank you. Yeah, we'll trust you. But but man, I tell you, man, uh,

what are you looking forward this year? Man? What what are something just the things did you like about at this point? This was interesting and I wanted to get your take on this. One of the NFL writers at the Shine, he recently did an article column came out over the weekend about the NFL's most complete teams. He did his top nine Shines nine most complete teams. He has the Cowboys ranked sixth as the most complete team.

So he's putting them up there with the Super Bowl contenders and rightfully sold because at every position we have a guy and this except maybe safety and tight end, and now that we have whip back collectively with the others, we may I like to look at the team because you don't know what your depth are your depth is until you get into the season because you lose what thirty percent of your team every year, so you don't

know what your depth is like. But every player, we got a player at air position that can possibly or that will start on another team if you go through our roster. We got a cornerback. I think that all start on most teams. We got to de man, we got a thing to start on most teams. And I'm and we gotta do a three technique, which I think the league he's healthy. Yeah, I think he can start on a lot of teams, and so that's how I use Yeah, and so we got we got offensive linement.

I know, we all know we're starting on eighty percent of these teams, you know. So that's how I look at that. I'm serious, That's how I look at it. Now, maybe safety and we don't know what the exhibit was gonna do. Yeah, so we don't you know at this point. But what if he grow another another year? So you gotta hope he does. You think he would? Yeah, yeah, because next year would be his second full year of really playing ball, you know. So Jeff Heath said, bring

him on. You know he's Oh I read a little bit of that, man, Jeff he said, I'm gonna tell you something. Man, he knows no fear. He's been to the bottom of the pile for sure, under afting free agent and a little school. It was a central something directional you Yeah, you know, I tell people when you when you jump into water, you deep, and you deep and you deep, you go deep as you can and you bought the round of bro and you finally hit that bottom and start pressing up. It's an exhilarating feeling

you be like you, I'm not gonna make it. I'm not gonna make it. Then you break that top, but you know what, don't still too often. Now, yeah, but you're still out there in the middle of that water, you know what I'm saying. So, yeah, gotta fight, That's right. So he broke back to the top and now you're looking over him and here hundred miles eye. So Jeff, don't even kill you, know what I'm saying. Well, here's this here's this guy, and this is one man's opinion,

his most uh complete team. He's got list of the Chargers, followed by the Ram squad man the Rams across town. He said that big factor with the random girl and how he's gonna be. He's got the Cleveland Browns. Three yes, sir, this surprised me. I can't. I guess I haven't been

keeping up. Brother, pull up their roster. Yeah, they either got first a second round picks, a good veteran starters, they wide sieves, or they'll Beckham the kid that they got from Miami last year, their quarterback and spending the rock. They got a good running back. The Divin's line is just nothing but young studs. That mature last year, got nice corners, money, got the corner, but they got a team full of guys Award that just need to be

led the right way. Yeah, it seems weird that Cleveland talk about complete teams, teams that and that's how you gotta look at that. Can my guys possibly start somewhere else? Yeah? Who was his thirteen fourteen? The Coats they're coming man. Yeah, we saw a liveing of that. Look good last year. The Cowboys that one game twenty three nothing. Chiefs are fifth, which I guess that's even even even losing a couple of players, even without Terry Kill. See their quarterback take

on for a lot of that. Yeah, well quarterback best tight end the game, and they picked up Frank Clark and Darn Matthew on the right. It is. It's pretty nice. Cowboys six, he he likes. He said they're gonna be led by the run game in the defense, which I guess that's pretty standard. Everybody knows that. Saints or seventh, he says, despite Breeze being forty. Now, I don't care, I don't care. Man. He's got Chicago Bears eight, largely due to their defense and the Patriots ninth and he's

playing that of course on Billichick and Brady. He said that wherever you wanted the players still what count. Yeah, you can let and that you know, I tell people, man, you you can you can ride into people stop fearing you. And that whole afcast I think I got it right. The whole AC's everybody fears them, It fears you know. So if it's a close game, you gotta get out of your head. I'm just playing them sixty minutes and

let the chips fall with him. Man. Yeah, you know she never felt you probably felt though that your coach gave you an advantage of Jimmy. Yeah, yes, sir, but it comes a point where you can't fear you. Coach Landrus had that same mystique. But as the players got older, you know, and as Belichick is different, he'll get he'll wash you out of that, you know, which is the right thing to do. But nobody gives their scouting department no credit. That's true, to keep replacing them with more

than adequate players. And then when they see that, oh okay, okay, you help us want a Super Bowl? I left tackle. I'll swing tackle. That's here. You know, he's nothing more than a swing tackle. But they found a way by having a quarterback that we wasn't gonna stand back that new way that ball had to go and had to get and get it out, you know, make you look a little bit better than what you are. So yeah, I get coach Belichick and Tom Brady a whole lot

of credit. But I think their scouting department is it's fabulous. Yeah, they must be, because they keep turning guys over and keep staying on top. He said, if you would have had a tenth there would have been the Eagles. But his bid is only nine guys, but nine teams. But he goes, there'll be a tough matchup again this year. Oh man, I give them the edge because of their coach. Really, yeah, he's won a super Bowl, that's true. I think that.

I think when you've been at the top at your at your position, at your title, and you've seen it, you've experienced it, that that's a big game hunter, And if you use it right and continue and continue to remember that the players that you get, the players that fit what you do, and that you continue to have exceptional players, you can be all right as a head coach and see that that's he had exceptional year with those guys. That year he won. Now he didn't win

with what most see this amazing thing about it. And this is what made me laugh about that Nick Foles was no better than that. This think he had that one member Nicko had that one super year, went the next year, got a big old contract, didn't do anything, got with the right coach, understood who he was, what he could do, surrounding him with talent. Yep, there you go and there you go. And so that's how I just laugh, like Nick Foles is so close. You know, Da is so close. But I think he's a better

athlete than Nick Foles, but he stays so close. Man. So do you think that talking about coaches, that having Kellen Moore now will give the Cowboys a bigger edge in that regard? I think that if coach more implement what he does, what he said, he's gonna do variety, a live bit of variety with him with with motions and personnel, and continue to do what the Cowboys do, they'll be all right. I mean, I don't until you see a guy in the fire, you just don't know,

you know. And and my thing to him is and he knows this, and uh, and I'm liking what he's saying, but he knows that when he put his game playing together, it's gonna be his game playing. Yeah. You know, and maybe one or two guys over the year may have a lib bit of input, and I'm talking about players, may have a lib bit of input. And what he does put him in the quarterback and the head coach in the quarterback coach. I'm gonna put that game playing together and at the end of the week, he gonna

put this snamp on it. Yeah. Here's a stat up pound kind of surprising that, according to Pro Football Focus, the Chiefs led the NFL last year in the run pass off a run pass option how often they used to They used to twenty five percent of the time. Cowboys used at six point eight percent of the time, which one of the worst, and the fans complained they did they did more that. You gotta think that that's one reason why Moore is here. He's gonna have to trick it up a little bit. Yeah, you do what

you do, man, It's still come down to execution. And you know, like I say, the formations, Man, I read something where and I heard it also on radio that you know, but I'm more important. I read it where the head coach for the Rams said I overthought the Super Bowl. Really, he's overthought, he's out. I looked at every Super Bowl game that the Patriots played, I looked at every playoff game I had all this time, and I just overanalyzed. I should have stayed closer to my

players and what we did best. Yeah, you know, well that's what Dak was quoted the other day, and Zeke's been quoted in the past two about how Moore is seeking input from I mean, they said he's been showing command in the room, that kind of thing, which he looks like a you know, seventeen year old kid or yeah.

But you know the thing about it is, you know you can listening to guys and now it's the time to get a little input during all season because when the seasons start, you ain't got time about a knocking and man, hey, coach, this is okay. I'm gonna hand you the ball and just go running. You know, I'm gonna hand you the ball, go through it. You know

what I'm saying. But it makes it makes perfect sense that he would listen to players because he's still their age, and if he if he thinks that, I mean, if you think that a guy his age can be a good coach, then you might think that players in that age group might have something to offer to Yeah, the days of just telling the guy, hey man, we run this right here, what coach? Can we explain why? I mean, share,

share your love? You know, but that's even that's got to be on a limited basis because you got to control the room or maybe twenty five thirty guys putting an offensive games. You know what I'm setting? Yeah, you got, you got because you know why this coach? Why that? Let me Let me get this out and get these plays in places, and then we will come back and be a little sport more specific. You know, they don't see. This is what people understand, even though their jobs is

football and their lives is football. It's only so many hours in the day that you can actually sit down with ten or fifteen guys and explain every why you know what I'm saying or does he just need to explain it to doc and leave it to doctor explain to those guys. No, No, he like I said, you can you can always. It's always a quick way to

explain things. But guys that really and this is what I learned, you don't have to ask as many questions if you really trying to learn the offense and really trying to learn offense, I'm gonna know what the whole offensive line gotta do. And then and then on this protection him, I'm gonna know whether it's a three step drop, five step drop, our seven step drop. I'm gonna know

because of the formation. Well, first of all, causes the play where we had on the field and in the in the protection, it's gonna tell me what's going on, you know. So if this is a longer route, the number is gonna tell him it's a longer route, you know what I'm saying. In the situation gonna say, this is a longer route. So where where's where? Where can we be? Where can we hurt this defense? But more important, where can this defense hurt us? Yeah? You see what

I'm saying. So the guys that kept out, That's why Frenderick is who he is. He's not on a phenomenal, phenomenal center and athlete. He understands the whole offense. So if you understand the whole offense, the coach have to sit down there and say, Okay, this is why we do this because Senner got snapped the ball and then all of a sudden the quarterback got to drop back, but he got a step with his left foot first. Is it gonna turn out to its right? You know?

You know what I'm saying. The most guys try to learn the whole No. No, because it took me eight eight hundred years on offense. I just did my job and have fun. I want to have fun more than I want to understand why we hand zeke doesn't make a difference for a guy like a guard, but it does. It does mean you want to be the ultimate player, you know. Not some people have to learn how in the session because they don't have no athletic skills, you know what I'm saying. So they gotta have They gotta

know every ankle, you know what I'm saying. But the but the nice like Troy knew the whole offense, which of course quarterback, but Michael Irvin him. Guys like that they wanted to know, you know, especially him because like man, okay, this dude of him being blocked, well, you know you can't run back there? Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah. So it's all about It's all about what you want as a player, as a teammate, you know. And uh, you know,

I had a lot of fun. But as as our team got better and guys got more serious and didn't want to, you know, mess around, I got more serious and I got better. Because you don't want to be that your career, my career. You don't want to be that guy that everybody be like, oh my god, can we cut this guy? You know what I'm saying, because you don't want to hold I'm serious. You don't want to whole teams saying, man, can't we cut this guy? You know, I'm serious. Yes, that happened. Oh yeah, you

see guys that are not taking it seriously. Yeah, I want to go smoke dope man. Yeah. Yeah, you know. And nine time out of ten, that guy has the most ability. Everybody love him, you know, Everybody pray for him and hope for him more than he hoped for himself. The Cowboys count in that situation, now, aren't they? With Gregory? No, that's the difference. He's sick, Okay, I ain't talking about guys that that's that's he's sick. The other guy wasn't sick.

The other guy's like, no, I just rather have fun and do this right here, you know. Yeah, Yeah, it's some guys. We had guys that didn't have him to do with drugs. They just wanted they off the feel like to be as big as they own the field, like, but they want to perform on the field. They didn't deserve the Yeah what came with it? Yes, he's like, we're talking a little defensive line. They were with Irving

and all that, Gregor. You like what they got going now and you think they're they're deeper now and they've been in a long time. Yeah. Man, you know what if everybody stays healthy on I D line, brother, if you can't pull that up, If everybody stays healthy on our D D line, somebody gonna unexpected me may get cut.

Yeah yeah, I can see that. Yeah yeah. If everybody stays healthy, man, let's say our office and deepens the line, stay healthy through training camp, it's gonna be a lot of cut up knuckles and elbows and and broken fanger nails out there on that field. Bro. Well is the time. I mean usually they say you're gonna give a guy three years to prove himself. Yeah, you're gonna MALIEK Collins this this, this is their time to shine. Yeah, Malik's had his this is to be his fourth. Yeah like him. Yeah,

but he stay healthy. Yes, that's what I'm saying. This is time him to shine. He's in the contract year or two. Yeah, Taco Bell do that. He's the first round pick. It's this time to shine. So they're gonna give him, you think, no matter what, they're gonna give him another another year to prove himself. Yeah. I think that's what I'm saying. Training camp, everything, and this is for all players, but not so much for guys that

are proving themselves. OTAs is when he go out there for OTAs, whatever Taco Chargering is doing, he got he got to be given his all and all he's gotten to try to be the best person he can be. He got to show these cowboys that what they drafted wasn't flute, right. You know. Well, I hope he's healthy. He's had two surgeries now this offseason, one on his shoulder and just had one of his ankle. Well, let's hope that's now. Let's hope that he rehab. I mean,

I can't judge people by the injuries. I can't judge people how how how hurt they are. But we just paid a guy one hundred and some million dollars about sixty five guarantee that played with a bad shoulder the whole year. It's true, okay, so and I don't know. It could be a different shoulder injury for for for Taco that that did not let him perform, or an ankle that did not let him perform. But if it's injury, let it be injury. That's why Malie Collins get a

second and third chance. But it don't let it be because they're questioning your your drive. Right. The one that worries me about possibly making the squad is because I think he's a great guy and it's Tyron Crawford. M No, Tyrone coming man. They I mean he's gonna be he's gonna turn thirty during the season. Yeah, he's got I mean it's pretty high paid. Yeah yeah, But you know what they ain't even talked about how every year you've heard me say they need to reconstruct, but they've never

reconstructed Tyrone's contract. That's true. Why because he gives them everything. He's the Army Swiss, nice he can play across the board in a position and give you a high level of plan. Now he's not a pro bowler all star, but he gave you a high level and he's gonna be in the right place, give me everything he's got. He's big time in the room too, and yeah yeah, yeah, he good man. I mean, and he's going through a lot off field of trouble, and I really, uh, I really,

I really pray for him on the best. When the guy gives you what he got, what he gives you, I pray for the best one. It just worries me because you look at the young guys they brought in. I mean they brought They brought us one last two years. Yeah, they brought him one of the Jackson five leftovers, Yeah, Daniel Wise. They got the Kansas. They picked up Jalen Jokes, who was free agent signing from Texas. Yeah yeah, yeah. Covington, Yeah yeah, fighter from the Detroit Yea. They brought in brother.

This You know, this is gonna be a training camp that they all for all of y'all that can get out there, man, all of y'all that can watch man get something, to get out there and see these cowboys because like I said, it's gonna be some scraped up knuckles and you know, and some beat up elbows and some hurt shoulders on some offense. Give his lines this

year because guys will be trying to make the squad. Bro, you think you think Antoine woods from the lay down and let you take what he just did, what he just learned last year. Yeah, it's not a shot. A story on him one of the local papers about what was that? That's Antoine wood Wood jamming them up in the middle, baby, and he consumed space. Yeah, night, starticle on him in the local paper about his You know, he's in a contract here. He's got to come through.

He's surprising people last year, but he may not. He may not be a surprise this year. You're where I slipped in on Wheel and he kind of agreed. Was he's that guy that can give you thirty five phenomenal plays when he starts in forty forty five. Nah No, but you give him the right up at forty better still around thirty thirty five. He gonna hurt some folks, bro over a long season. Man. They got a lot of people inside now to get through what I'm saying.

The draft pick um Tristan Hills, Yeah, human three Malite college and and Tristan's gonna be fighting yeah for that, for that, for that starting three technique. But fortunate for Malite that he can play the one. Yeah, as as a rusher and a run defender. You see what I'm saying, he may have to huh. Yeah, this thing's gonna be a dog fight. Man. You're gonna see a lot of guys out there lifting the legs and kicking and scratching grass out there, baby, lifting their legs and kicking the

scratching grass. Yeah, Baby, that's all there. You want to go into that further. But you know when you walk a mill dog, what they do? You know they gonna smell a spot. Take a spot, Hichael, spotting scratch grass going off? Hey, speaking of slipping things into will you try to get me in trouble with him right off the bat? Yeah? Something that talking about Zeke I like that. I'm gonna I don't know, man, I just want to

see the importance of Zeke. I mean, maybe if I just give you them a little subtle hits here and now, maybe you maybe you'll move up. Maybe you'll move up from that eight million year. Maybe you'll move up from the eight million years you want to get. I'd love to get Will'state probably never tell us something that he has import of this position. For that position has a lot to say about who get paid who don't they come to him for a grade? Are they trying to

figure out? Like I went to him when I said, man, is they're gonna sign the marker murder back? What is your impact? He said, maybe we wouldn't looked at the film all his runs. We looked at some line. We had to make a decision that as a whole offense, the line made him better. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. So I knew when he told me that. I said, when he's sending back, you know what I'm saying. Hard look at that fumble in the Packer game. Yeah, you

would never forget, will you Douglas fumbled all season? Yeah, well you can tell that the under Will. They've really stressed the lines. I forgot to ask about Dak. I forgot to ask about d Yeah. Yeah, they're Taylor outside the door there, Taylor, I don't think we're taking a break, So come on in. We already had two breaks. We had to take two quick ones a will So I was, well, it was always good. Yeah, man, I got some breaking news for y'all. Okay, breaking tay, what Taylor Stern joining us?

Hey what it's like echoey. We've had issues in hearing and so just keep playing, all right. So mister Ezekiel Elliott, after we've been touting his maturity all off season, has a new video out from TMZ of him apparently getting handcuffed and getting an argument with an event staffer at EEDC Las Vegas. So limited just to the events staff. Um, yeah, it was like him getting an argument with a woman.

He didn't put his hands on her, do anything at all, but when they were trying to break up this argument, the event staffer kind of got knocked to the ground by him. It happened on Saturday, and he had his camp yesterday. I guess, Well, it's hard to know when it's events staff, so it's not There was no official it's a TMZ report, So that's why it's very loose facts here. Event staff can overreact. I'm not saying that's

what happened, but no, no doubt. And it's three AM and Las Vegas like True and West sad and I moved right keep singing. But you know, beside Zeke, take, what's some good news is Jalen Smith graduating right back and made his fulfilled his promise with his mother that he told her three years ago when he left for the NFL Draft that he would come back and get his college degree. And it's a full circle moment because you know, when he left he had suffered that tragic

knee injury. Most people thought he'd never you know, fulfill his NFL dreams. Now he's done that. And then yesterday when he was walking across the stage, he's not only walking, but he was dancing. So he's come a long way. Come a long way, baby, come a long way. And you guys have been around here. He's done a lot of rehab. Oh man, a few worked harder than him. He's he had a long way to come back and he's done it. It's amazing he did. And I guess that amazed me. Take. You see how he'd get excited

about it daily gets about a day. But miss he misses Zeke and he probably he's probably seen h yeah, yeah it was Zeke. No No event this weekend in Vegas were you were you out there. They Stafford did look good, familiar. I was motioning with him in the dance floor there and we got a little rough. Although I don't know if you've talked about it on this podcast yet. Was that? Another breaking news is that Kurt Daniels flag football team is the hottest thing at the

start in Frisco. Oh, I did hear? He scored two touchdowns. He scored two touchdowns one and an extra point. But let's tell me how many teams is it and what team you are part of? A miss take. I'm part of the Orange team. Shanning Grosses our captain, and we're pretty good. We're I know, I know he's not going to be there tomorrow, so that's rough, but um, we're doing pretty good. We had a kind of off first week to watch the film. Actually came back and did

well there breaking down. I can send you the link you want to see up there, breaking down flag Football. I got one target, one catch in the first week. It's pretty intense out there. It is get competitive, that's for sure. Yeah. So Kurt's team, you can correct me if I'm wrong. But the first week they had two delakes. They were working in an event, so then they played a double header on Tuesday, which is not easy to just come out there and play people like me. But

you were doing good. Yeah, we want them both. So we got no one day. He had his Harold jazzed up today and the winner Daty mccraie's on our team. And we got you know, Scott Erdman's good. It's good. We got a couple of guys that either had a chance to play in college or did and so you know, we're pretty I just have to show up. They pay attention to all those guys. I just kind of float underneath and every once in a while, is that how you got the touchdown? Soame is Doug dogs on the

tam slinging it around. He helped this week because the first week he was out, and then this week Douglas and Zack Zilinger, who works in the video department, took like, did a quarterback by committee type play and it really worked. Well. That's how we scored our points. Douglas South, Yeah, he was being good. Wow off that arm. Wow man, this is all about also bad. I think you should come out tomorrow if you can. Yeah, yeah, have fun, yeall have fun hanging with the boys. I'll be so, this

is my son last year of football. If it ain't professional NFL, I am not watching it. Where's your son playing? A ut sentence? An't you? I'm that son? Hurry up? I heard it? Is he? So Daniel Wise, who's a guy who they picked up undrafted free agent. He's pretty good. His older brothers Dietrich Wise who plays for the Detroit Lions, and cool. And then I heard that he has a

younger brother that plays at UTSA. Wow. Cool. And his dad was a coach for the um What was Will McClay the coach of des He just said, this is fifteen minutes ago, desper it's playing flag football. Quit wow, man, Miss Bronson? Up and down? Up and down here? Yeah wow. I mean we'll see what happens. Was he that's very loose news, loose facts on Twitter? Right now? We'll see Twitter is known for that. You know that that right there? Man?

I just I'm not brushing it off. But like you said, Miss t in two something grows, not grow from it. That's the thing with what we're going to see in two years when whatever happens with the CBA, is that nowadays these players have no chance to defend themselves or just say anything or to prove their point. They want to think that social media is that way. But when you have people with cell phone cameras every single place around this country, national international, they have no way to

defend themselves before it's broadcasted on the internet. Well yeah, and see Mistat. That's why I tell my sons being careful. Just you being taped. Yeah, don't your hotel room, you being taped. You being taped everywhere you know, and it'll come back on you later that yeah. Yeah, So you know, Russia here we are. You know, that's how Russia used to be. I'm serious, I'm serious. Before Russia broke into the many parts that it is now, it was one dictatorship.

Our dictatorship is this right here, Samsung At and t verising horizon, whoever this is us. If I want to hurt Tay, I can put cameras right across the street in front of the house and find it trying to find out everything she does outside of the house, right before she's going on house and you have the freedom and posted online. Yeah, so that's kind of what it seems like happened here. Is that Russia its Russia well ever, an assault asks her. She's no, yeah, they never watched

that movie, Salt. I started Game of Thrones last night and started I started at you got any spoilers you want to throw? Will McClay did. He's on season eight where you at? I'm season one episode middle of episode three. He just gonna watch stopped, let me go. Tell Goes you ain't gonna watch. You're not gonna sustain it? She will? You're linking it if you're on episode three, you binge watched all the way? Yeah, Douglas, do you watch it?

I remember? Absolutely? You know what they should do? It is like the first three They should have put out the first three seasons. Did everybody learned the characters? Who, who's playing who? And then just highlight from that from the seasons. Just have highlights, you know. It sounds like a man who loves social media right there. I'm just saying, you know, hey, if you're gonna be on now as we're getting all these people gonna do now there's no Game of Thrones, I'll tell you what. It may fall

back old sports. So the books, book reading is gonna just excel through the roof. Now, how you right? What you know what's so sad is the NBA playoffs are Sorry we had the first competitive game. I'm serious. When I'm your Celtics got you talk about you talk about this close to Quentin, they would act close to Quinn. Who Who's Who's their guy again? Is Hayward? Haywards? But he came back from Andrew You talking about Kyrie ky to get out of the tower. Yeah, let him know,

let him Yeah, that's what I like teams. I like my team to be competitive. And if you competitive, you have a chance to win. But when you're not competitive, well I don't what type of salent you got, You're not winning. That's why watching our flag football games is so entertaining, because we are competitive. We believe that we can win every game. But it is very competitive. You know.

I don't want to name names or throw anyone under the bus on him, but there's a quarterback on a team that we've faced, and Douglas knows what I'm talking about. But it was very intense and the intensity didn't really lie in competition with the other team. It lied within his own team, which was unique for me to see because for me to see that kind of competition and the excellency expected from his flag football teammates was very unique, very unique. So and now you yeah, you are you

going to um be out watching some of OTAs. Yeah, but it's nice now because it's gonna all be indoors. Yeah, I think so with all the construction out there. I'm pretty pumped about that. Cool. Yeah, I am. And I'm excited to see Tony Pollard. As we were talking about running backs, can't get that savage. I know he's up there, he's up there with the Packers, but we got Randall cop getting a cop on the back of your jersey. Has there ever been a famous Stern in the NFL,

like on any team? No, I don't think so. Maybe one in the NBA. There's been a Stern Burger that now plays. He played for a and m let me see I look up Stern. No, I mean there's Jordan's Sterns. There's been Newton's. There's definitely been Daniels. I don't know. You have the Chase Daniels jerseys such stern sternament and played in the twenties. No, no, I don't have any Daniel's jerseys. Sorry. I would totally do that if I had an easy last name. If I was a Smith,

I'd own every Smith Jersey there was known. A man Jones is another good one about Barra clothes. There's been a Barra clone, not yet yet. It's been a beer name that. Yeah, didn't you make up beer? Where you're fell in the toilet always comes back to that. That's a miss with Doug about that. I don't miss with about two bitty thieves. But I'd never forget that because Doug is one of my perfect guys. When I think of Doug, I like perfect. So he fell in the

toilets boom perfect. I'm totally gone the toilet. Who else is one of your perfect guys? Kurt? No, not him? Around here, we were doing the list He's going to Heaven and Kurt was on that rock. Phillips was on that no man, that acid rock and heaven medal. I don't know they'd make bang him out of up. No no, no, no, Like you ever get in trouble in school, Kurt, like ever get suspended or detention suspended. But you know I got sent to the office a couple of times here

for what reason? He was talking mainly this guy. It happened. Actually, there was a guy I was talking too. He was doing most of the talk. Was his name Zeke. Yeah, you see, we'll see what happened. I got in trouble one time of middle school. Yeah. It was like I was in seventh grade and the eighth graders we're doing a ditch day, and I was friends with some of them, and they're like, just come with us. No one will

notice day in middle school. In middle school, and I did grow up in New Mexico, so that might tell you a few things. And we go, we get away, We ditch for the rest of the day. I'd come back in perfect time to get picked up by my parents in the afternoon. I felt so guilty. I walked up to my dad's car in tears, telling them like, I'm so sorry, Dad. Nobody knew I had to turn myself in and do detention like summer school. No Elba

do nothing wrong with tall will be the snitch. No. The eighth graders, it was like set up for them to do that, like they had a half day. And for the seventh graders, it wasn't sound terrible terrible. We literally went to a girls house and watched like movies, very lame. Dame Thrones so then I remember when it started, Well,

tell you gotta take us out. Yeah, after we close it up here, anything else cleared up nothing, I'm gonna do a little bit of that, all right, you got Thanks you guys, Thanks Kurt Daniels, Thank you, Nate Newton, Douglas, Barriklow, Kent Garrison, Presley Arians, and Shannon Gross for being Shannon. Will, forget about Will and Will McClay go orange team and go yellow team in flag football tomorrow. Who do You

Have a Team? Has been a production. How about Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club
