I mean, so what's the deal Kurt? There was ern he might leave. What happened? They basically restructured his salary cut in half. I think, are you all right? Now? Look like seven million now it's down to like three and a him. Here's my

question for you. Yeah, we have this youth movement that we started yes through two three years ago, and now we don't mess the curve up brow old man with gold jacket whip back. Yeah, now we're bringing Shawn Lee's back. So now are we are these good moves in your opinion? I like the Sean Lee MoU for sure, because I think he understands his role. He said in the un last season he knew he'd be a reserve and he's here to help those guys, and he has helped those guys.

I think he's a big mentor for Jalen Smith and Vandrees. I think they've already said that he's a huge help. So I don't especially now that they're at seven million, he probably wouldn't have been worth it, but that he's willing to restructure. He knows his role. I like that move. Yeah, and he's good with man. I'll tell you what when every We'll get to that in a second. For everybody that gets mad at these players for wanting their money, think about how quick this game turns on you. Shaun

Lee was starting, was one of the best. Yeah, could have been one of the best to ever do it if you could have stayed healthy. But a year ago he was starting, it was like nobody's gonna take his spot. And now a year later he's coming back as a reserve role for these two young guys that have been bought. So I think he's essentially a player coach now. I mean he's that's kind of his role, and I think he understands that once that. I'm good with that. Yeah,

I'm good. What do you think, Nate? You know, uh, just like with Witten, you know, Witnes is different. I mean it's a win it's a win now thing with me and Sean Lee and his role, I think it is great. But I'm hoping that this is it. I'm hoping that because you can't have five or six guys thirty plus years old on your roster and all on the hey, it is the leader of the team and the leaders of what's out there on the field, playing

and contributing and making a difference. So yes, you're making help with the film, but that don't have to speed or the game, you know. So, uh, Sean Lee, I'm glad he's back with I'm glad he's back because now, okay, if you didn't like the tight ends play with, don't don't bring him. You know, me and Kurt talked about it. Don't bring him in for on twenty five snaps. If he's our best tight end, let's go two tight ends the off set, you know, get showed some work, get

some get some work for borrowing. I don't know who's gonna be, what's gonna happen with Jeff or whatever, but it's time to win. Do you think it's almost all or nothing with him? You know he's gonna be full time all the time, or you don't need him. The reason I think he stays health is because he plays in bangs in his body is used to it and he you know, he don't stand on the sideline and

just long periods of time to get cold. Yeah, you know, he took a year off his legs as fresh he's gonna you know, he's good's good at stretching, keeping his body right. You know, when they first brought him, I was like, oh my god, what are we doing here? But if you, as a coaching staff says that this guy is the best on the market, better than what we got, or improves our team greatly by bringing him back,

bring him back and play him. Don't bring him back for him to just for what this is just sent over there. Okay, Yeah, I mean to me, I'm trying to make sense of not playing him, but I can't. I keep coming back to if he was not good enough. While Jeff Swain, we don't put his his his life on nimbo, Like, hey man, if you get a decent offer by so we don't put his life in nimbo. Schultz gotta you know it's supposed to be his show this year. Okay, what we do there, Blake? We know

he can catch the ball. We know he can catch the ball, we know he can play, he can get DVD. So what do we do there. So if you think witness the man, let's play Whitten one guy. Guys that care about playing. You know the other guys. If I don't mention their name, you can call it him and say all you want. I want guys that care about playing. And that last name you mentioned, I don't know how much you really care about playing. We need ten plus wins. We don't need to We don't need to go into

this year. And if I get a look seem like I'm angry, I look said, look out of joint, it's because I am. Because these we need guys. I'm tired of losing and I'm tired of being inconsistent. The goal this year should be ten plus wins. And if I look at a player, you know, I hope it don't

get me fired. But if I look at a player and say this dude can't help us win, because I'm gonna sit and think, you know, when I talk to you this weekend, and either I'm thinking that God man, Okay, all right, no Swain, you know what we're gonna do with Blake, what we're gonna do with shots, Okay, Jason Whitten.

It's the best thing on the market because we couldn't have got another guy and have for two meals two point five meal not not a quality tight end that can flee in line outside the tackle, tight end that can give you some some form of blocking or has the knowledge to know how to block in certain situations and give us that that security. That uh that But man, Blake Jardon gave us at the end of the year.

Those only three guys, there's only well he's the only guy at that price because you weren't gonna bring another tight end in here for less than five million dollars. Yeah that price, Yeah, Yeah, that's that's interesting. Here he's here let him go. Yeah you got I mean, give me honest opinions, but I'm I'm serious. I mean, you

know people say progress stop. Okay, Now, if we do this now, if we really go to the tight ends, if Shultz grow, you know, get a little stronger, a little more physical, that we're back to the two tight ends now, even when it's third and one, where before we had another choice a third and three where we had another choice but to try to run Zeke up in there on nine to ten min Now we can leak one of these dudes out of here and make

some things happen. To the waggle the boots, they're moving him around them, talking about the quarterback a little Now that really becomes a viable option where it's last that wasn't a vibe, especially when Swain got hurt, you know, and Shultz were still slow to catch the speed of the game. You know. So here we go, man, I mean, we know with the lead that we know Van Dress and Jaylen are better than at this point in the careers. We don't know that yet with the tight ends the

best one still. Yeah, like you said, give him the ball again. I mean, hey, was I excited when when they first. Uh, I was like, oh my god, I'm like really, yeah, I'm serious. Now I'm gonna be honest, you know. But you know, but I can say, calm down and get the thinking you want ten plus wins, you know, does I can see Whitton stabilizing his position shows that other tight end because remember the other dude have Oklahoma that just had head bone on ball. James Hannah. Yeah, never talked about Hannah, but Hannah, I promise you if if he could still play, he would still be here because he was the other guy that could set the edge and we can run to either side. Now you didn't know where that ball was or he was good enough to catch that one ball a game that boom, oh keep it. You know. We go from on the average of maybe sixty plays, because when we first started it was getting forty eight fifty plays. Now

we're back if teams go according to play. Now we're back to this that average of sixty five plays a game. When we played sixty five players a game, we played the slow sixty five we're running, we're waggling, were getting three yards, begetting four yards. We don't play the sixty five ways, just seventy yards seventy yards touchdown. You get what I'm saying. We played that slow grind, so not

our defense set them with arresting. Yeah, you know, I mean if he's if he's the best option, because if we don't, if we don't, then we then then it's like we did last year. We had eight wide receivers, eight wide receivers, and we couldn't get between eight guys. We couldn't get We couldn't get twenty completions at the beginning of the year. Remember, we could not get twenty completions. The worst case scenarios if Witten's not the better guy and he doesn't want to take on that backup role.

But yeah, it's hard to say. You won't know that's on training camp. So we'll see. Okay, okay, worst case scenario. And now now you say, well, ain't causing us about two million. That's the worst That is the worst case scenario. Now they're gonna say, and they cut this, dude, I want even mentioned that, Oh they cut such and such, and what's the difference both of them standing up on the sideline? Daniel Ross showed to be very, very solid last year. I still think we need to drive a big, big horse, you know. Alan Hearns evidently he's getting healthy in things so that you can't tell me. Alan Hearns moving down in the slot with the two guys outside and bas

don't show back up. We got with we gotta force, and we got barring, we gotta we got a chance. We got a chance. So those I think with some good sign that Darian Thompson got I don't know much about Justin marsh Lively. Glad to have him back. You know, I told a lot of guys the little radio show I do. I said, hey, fellas, don't be surprised if we sign a lot of small contracts first, and maybe one mid range contract before we get to d Law. You know, don't don't panic, you know, don't panic. H

d Laws a little upset. You know, I've been kind of getting outside. You know, people have been you know, Yeah, we're gonna touch your feelings, d Law, but I pray to give your money. Well that talk about that signing a bunch of these little guys, letting them not test the market any expensive guys who come them a little guy. None of them are professional. So wow, look at a little production valut see how it comes into all's commercial breaks.

Everybody's talked about him for the last year and linked him to hear and he's come out and said he's not taking a hometown discount. I tried to sell everybody. Do you do you think they're still I think he might wind up here. I think I don't know. Cowboys are giving up. I think they're gonna make him an offer. They'll go after him a little bit, but I don't know if they give him the best,

most money, that might be the deciding factor. This is what's so funny. And I notice is just a starting mark with him and his agent. I've heard fifteen Meal, I've heard thirteen Meal, and I've heard twelve Meal. That might be too high, you know for this team and U T and I'm thinking the Cowboys thinking seven, eight, nine and ten at the most. Now, I have not talked to nobody, but you can't. Yeah they can. I mean they can work magic, but you can't get d

Law or Thomas dad Z and all these guys. Yeah, and the next two and then this year and next year. These guys we just talked about. Glad to have maybe the only guys we have true you know what I'm saying. Do you think it's safety or position? You shouldn't spend that big kind of big money on on this team. They don't value it as much as maybe another team would that because the Ravens. The Ravens value safeties, Uh,

Uh, some guys ain't gonna pay offensive linement as much. Some guys will. We do we do? Maybe that's changing for sure, though they could. Maybe I don't know, you know what, I don't know. I don't A lot of things is in flux this year with coach Garrett not having being locked down. Uh, we got a lot of one year guys that we've

signed to won your options. So Cowboys kind of to me keeping it, you know, keeping their options open. Uh. Did they resign coach with shot to any extended period of time? And that's what I'm saying. So there's a lot of things in flux, And you know what, I don't think all that's necessarily a bad thing. Like maybe some people need to be uncomfortable. Maybe maybe you need to go into a year going you know what I need to I need to ball out, you know. Maybe

that's I don't know. I'm not but I'm we've tried it the other way. Let's maybe maybe this is a good thing. I don't know. I would like it if I was in their shoes, But I mean, you know, you've done it the other way. Why not let's say, Okay, here we go, let's roll. That's true. I think they're going to be forced into that position. Some of those guys are gonna have to They're gonna be on a

hot scene a little bit. It's just it's just amazing how we look at things as fans, you know, how we get pumped up for things, and it's a lot. You know, it's a lot going to building a team that you have to think about. And you got enough young players now as you can kind of project if they barring injury, barring a bad injury, you can kind of project who they are and who need to be paid. But I think in some ways like they had these young guys, but they couldn't do a whole lot extra

because they had so much dead money. Yees, salary cap was blown away. Well now they have the salary cap space, but now they got to pay all these young guys, and so they're almost right back in the same position where they don't have nobility. So nah, I think, I mean, how can they bring in anybody else when they've got Now that ain't that ain't that ain't the ticket? Now that ain't what they've been preaching the last three years

round here. It ain't it ain't a been about. They have literally told us, if we can get through free agents without signing one person, we will do it. Right Okay, you say you, I mean we let three or four guys go last year, go to other teams because because of that dead money. Okay, now you don't have to do that. You you can get everybody kind of halfway fitted under the cap, you know if you Now it comes down to the in house scouting and really knowing, Okay,

this is the guy we need to sign. We don't need to sign Nate. We need to sign Shannon. We got to you know what I'm saying, and being confident in knowing that Shannon gonna give you everything he got. Well, I guess the concern is, like, you know they're gonna sign the Marcus for twenty twenty five million or whatever. They're gonna the better Signmari Cooper again because they just traded a number one pick for him. That's gonna be another sixteen million or whatever. You've got Dak. You know

they're gonna sign him. That's the twenty five thirty. Are you all this money you'd be spending on free agents? You got to spend it on your own guys now, right, So how can you bring in an Earl Thomas or something like that, spend that big kind of money on a big free age. It almost seems like they're hand strunk, hand strunk a little game. No, they know, they not, they not. This is this is the thing is see, and he just how I felt. I felt this way

last year. You know, I was telling you it ain't signing or I mean you know, I mean I'm not in their meetings. And then but what's the advantage to sign an or what advantage is? He's a playmaker and he can make it everybody on your back in better you know, but everybody needs a better back in. Yeah. Yeah, but the thirteen million, Alice, No, you know, yeah, I'm with him made as much as out like Earl, But I think they're interested. But I think both of you

are right. I think what he wants and what they're willing to give, I think it's too far apart. You know, give me give ten million. I'm probably in on that. I can figure out who doesn't need to be here to get that guy in here because he, I mean, you see what he can do. He can change a game single handedly. But I mean, if it's gonna put me in cap hell like they were you know, two, three, four or five six years ago. M I don't say that's That's the tricky thing now is you're if you're

in win now mode. If you got these young guys that you're ready, you know you you made it to the divisional round, you're ready to take that next step? Can you do it without bringing somebody in? You know, it's it's a it's a tough situation. I mean, it's it's hard to manage that cap. I think Stephen Jones and Jerry Jones are doing a better job at it. But how do you if you're in win now, how do you bring in at key piece? It's been that

kind of money without wrecking everything else. What you gotta do is you gotta guarantee a lot of money on short periods of time. And that way, if you got a bad see this is just a deal. When you saw talking about five years and a guy don't turn out to be what you think he is, you you get trust. But if you do a three year deal, you may overpay him a little bit. You know, you you you gotta walk your way out of that, but you can't walk your way out of five years. It hurts.

that's fine. But I just I can't wait to see who we draft with with with with with the fifty eighth pick, is I'm correct a fifty to four or fifty six. I want to be sitting there looking at TV with the fifty to sixth picker the draft. The Dallas Cowboys take the left side of all New York. You can say the same thing about Taco, right, I mean, they drafted him in the first round, and do they need to give

Out of all the guys they've picked, he's only one. Everybody else kind of contributed in some some positive way of fashion. You know. I mean, there are a lot more guys out there than I expected. Yeah, did y'all have that when you played Nate, you'll have captain's workout. It was Legimi said, this is when you started working out, captain. That's why they put all them limits on it, because coaches like, hey, this is when we start and and

you know, you know, March first, be out there. So you guys were going March first two, Yeah, you're getting going. I couldn't remember how how soon you guys got going back in the day. Yeah, but March first, you guys were like full blown workouts. Oh man, we was going at it, man, same same strength coach though, yeah, so but it was more he had more control and you know, we had less injuries back then too. Was it that way with Landry? Also? Where you'd start teams are really

good going. Yeah. Yeah. But when it first started with coach name, when it first of us saw with coach nine, them the guys working there doing offseason. Yeah yeah, you know, it didn't change into seventies they that they didn't have to work. It was later than that. Yeah, back in the day training camp. You that's when you came to getting shaped. Six weeks, six real weeks. Yeah, And a lot of people don't realize these guys they really only

have like two months of downtime. So you're basically grinding ten months out of the year because they're are, and then the guys as in the NFC Championship, in the FC and Super Bowl, they grinding longer. Yeah. Yeah, they're also probably celebrating a lot harder too. It's true. It's true. There is ear Old Thomas walking into the Cowboys locker room on the NFL network. Yeah, you better better specified on the NFL network, not in our locker room. We

have not seen ear Old Thomas at the Star. So what do you think about We hadn't been on the show since David Irving went did his Instagram live thing. What did you think about that? Now were we forced to re arrange maybe, and I don't know what it was gonna draft, but now you gotta.

You have no other choice but to re arrange your draft, all your all, your free agency because you know, you know, lost two guys and people I plan for. You can't playing for that lack. You didn't come playing for Jason Witten leaving last year. Jack, You can't playing for a major injury, you know. But you have to go with what you see and what you know. You cannot you hurt your team. So now this year when we draft, we have no room. The second round pick is where

we normally pick pickny type guys. Well, guess what, we don't have that second round pick because this is our first We gotta go out and get a guy that can help us. Yep. You know, if you have a major injury, that's one thing, but just just to say, oh man, well he he got something wrong with him mentally, and this is another now saying we don't have him cause of that. Yeah, kind of sad because I mean I listened to it, man, I mean sped out of David.

Everyone did what he did, you know, and then he's saying all what he's saying it out and then people, well he's right, you know, no, he's wrong the rules and through the Players Association says hey, man, we got

two months before we check everybody for we quit smoking weed. Yeah, I mean these guys know when it's coming, and it's I mean it's to me, it's it's sad because here's a guy that had from all accounts that you hear of guys on the team and behind the scenes, this guy had all the talent and potential in the world. Could have been one of the best to ever play that position if he would have just put his head down, work, grinded, do it for three or four years. Set your family

up to be in a good spot. His daughter would never have never have to worry about school, never have to worry about anything. You got a very limited amount of time in the NFL. Would make your money. He had a chance to make a whole lot of money.

I'm talking thirty forty million dollars over three years. And obviously that was not more important than you know, And I don't know what's going on behind the scenes and what all he's dealing with personally, and you know, I don't know what's going on with that, but just to know, hey, you can grind it out for three years and you never have to worry about anything. It's a different deal. He's a different deal. You knew what you was signing up for. You knew what you was signing up for.

You knew when you drafted him as high as you drafted, and what was the drawbacks to kick backs and whatever? Anderson destroyed the Cowboys. And if you had that big blocker right there, no one's getting

past you. And maybe that's just a small sample size of one game because you'd seen the D line not have that I guess deficiency before. Yeah, but you're right. I mean now that you do not have David Irving no time soon. Probably know, Randy Gregory, you still don't really know what's gonna happen with DeMarcus Lawrence and how that's gonna shake out and how that's gonna affect other deals in free agency. It just seems like defensive line is your spot, and I felt you guys, tell me
