The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club Flowing out of the backfield, exploding down the sideline. He's hanging with the Boys, presented by Windstuff where Flavor gets its wings. Now your hosts Nate Newton, Kurt Daniels, Jesse Holly, and Shannon Gross. Monday eleven thirty, You're Lucky live at Tostito Championship Plaza outside four Center at the Star in Frisco, where it is

ninety one degrees it feels like ninety six. The high today is just a cool hell, one hundred degrees, just hell. And the lowest night is seventy seven. Think about that. At night when they're supposed to cool down, it's still eighty degrees six pm, seven pm. It's supposed to be ninety six degrees. It doesn't get believed. It doesn't get below ninety until ten o'clock. Man, Well, we hope you tuned in today because right before we went on the air we found out this is the last show ever.

Oh no, I hope not. We're all going to go back to our day jobs. Just kidding. It's the last show until we get back from training. Camp with this crew. Don't know, don't know if we'll have a version of this show at training camp or not, so stay tuned when we roll out the programming. But for all tents and purposes, this will be the last time we're together until what August or September? Late August? Yeah, yeah, come back for that third preseason game. I would assume we'd

be back in business late August. And if you've never seen this before, I don't know if we talked about this on the show or not. We're going out. So we're going out, baby cracked, two coldies. This is canned water. If you've never seen canned water before, I've never seen it until I worked here. But I don't like I don't like it that I don't either. Apparently it's just weirdly chain shortage plastic. It's weird. But Kurt, good scene. Did you have a good weekend? I did. Yeah, relaxing,

fun weekend with some friends. It was a great time. Did you drink some Miller lights? I did? I d probably too many. Mond you good for you, Good for you. Jesse. Do you have a good weekend? I did? Yeah, lay Low, I didn't. I didn't. I went to church yesterday. I didn't leave out after that. Yeah, those are sometimes the best weekends. He just just ain't got nothing to do it. I know, it's so hot about you. Good weekend. I got some sun, went out of the pool, action to

the pool yesterday. So uh yeah, I got a little too much sun on my back and my forehead, but I got a little color. We had a little color. Not as pasty as I was, but yeah, it was good, good relaxing. Not too much going on this weekend. So and then Nate will be here a little bit later. He let us know that he got stopped at the border on the way back to another trip. So again, as we talk about on the show all the time last week, what day was that Tuesday? Tuesday? Tuesday at

ten thirty pm? Was it Tennessee? What was that two weeks ago? He went to Memphis. This past week he was back in He's back in Mexico. Yeah, around Alison, Texas Oldfield. Wow, that was at ten thirty pm on Tuesday night. So I said the border patrol people were getting annoy him. Yeah, so there you go. So he that's a good thing, right yeah. Yeah. So anyway, well let's get into it. Where do you want to take this, Kurt.

You know, we'll wait for Nate on that part. But many camp starts this week, right, it does How do Jesse? How do things? How are things or are they different between many camps and OTAs? Obviously one's voluntary and then

one's mandatory. Is it is it a different intensity, is it a different feeling or is it just like it's just to carry over from ots because they've been doing OTAs for several weeks now and it's kind of you know, our routine is the same with the media and the internal media, where you know you go cover them on this day. The locker rooms open on this day every day for for this week, all three days. Yeah, Tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday we have access. So that's really the only

difference for us. This is the last kind of ramp up before you go on your little break and report for training camp. So you know, your veteran guys will try to get that last little bit of you know in before you dip out. But I mean, for the most part, it's all about learning the system. Nothing really

changes in the sense of temple or technique. It's it's all This is about learning, like all This is about how can we you know, for those that know it get refreshed, for those who are learning it, getting as many reps as they possibly can, and for those that are evaluating it, being able to see those guys that you drafted, uh, that you signed on early contracts, that are returning guys, injured guys. And now you can sit and set your set the table for what are we

going to look at going into training camp right? What is our what is our first team, second team, third team gonna look like? Uh? In that time period? Are there are other free agents that we thought about before the draft and we saw OTAs we saw mini camp, and now we probably need to bring that veteran guy in questions I had, is this a time where they need to make some decisions now as far as depth and thankful, Yes they do. And and this is the

time that you can do it right. You can because you want to get those guys into training camp UH and try to get them acquilinity your system as soon as possible. And I think we talked about this before. For me, in certain positions, adding veteran leadership or adding a veteran player that's not going to be demanding of a bulk of minutes and not be a serious distraction. These are the moments in time that you do. So I think this team could just from a receiver perspective,

I think this team could use a veteran receiver. What kind of receiver, A route runner like you take the spotlight down, just just a distraction, a role player that's like, this is what we're bringing you in for, this is what we need you to do. Just a good solid Like to me, I thought the perfect guy. They should have bought in, and they didn't. He ended up going back home. But like I would have loved a Jarvis

Landry to be in that room. I just think that that's the kind of guy who is about the hard work, about practicing, about getting better. And now you can take guys because even though CDs is considered a veteran around here, he's still young at the position. He's still really at the position to number one, and he's now being new to number one. And now you have uh, you got tober coming in. And I thought Jarvis Landy was a guy who could play for you and still give you

extremely effective numbers. But also he's the kind of guy that's going to who relishes and taking a young guy underneath his wing and saying, let me show you what it's like to be a number one CD LAMB, but also tober, let me show you what it's like to be a professional receiver. And as well as you know, still coaching up guys like James Washington, is still coaching up guys like Michael Gallup. Because the guy like des

was the star when you were here? Who was that that veteran guy that was kind of the show backbone or the leader. So for me, I had Patrick Crayton. Okay, so I had a guy like Patrick Crayton who who was the guy who didn't require a top but got a ton of minutes right but knew everything and took

me underneath the wing. There were a guy like Miles Austin who went through the went through the ranks of being an undrafted guy, special teams guy, hurt guy, getting back finding it his way and then being a prominent number one. So he like he was one that went through all of the stages. Then it was you know Roy Williams, who can only tell you really about going from being the man to being a man. You know

what I'm saying. So you watch certain things. But I had guys like he might be more of a distraction. Who Roy Williams. He became a distraction. It became an issue between he and Romo and Garrett and all that kind of situation. But for me, it was it was guys like Sam Hurd, Patrick Crayton, Miles Austin, who were this there to just give you all of the nuances of what the position required on and off the field, in the classroom, on the practice field. So bringing in

the guy like Jervis Landis and me would have been perfect. Yeah. I want to talk about fights, all right, it's not our on run sheet, No, but we had a fight last week. Did you see it? I did not. I just read about it. Yeah. I don't know if it happened on the day media was here on Twitter. I think it was media because there were some pictures of him walking off the field, and I guess the report was at Ridgeway and Josh Ball got into it. There's a couple of big fellas there, big guys, And there's

two different things I want to talk about. One. I want to pull the curtain back a little bit and tell you about a very awkward moment that I didn't know which way it was, what was going to happen, and Jesse can jump in here. And for people that don't know, like, fights happen all the time at practice, right, guys get it was hot as hell last week. I think this was on Thursday that this happened. Hot as hell and practicing and the heat and things got chippy

and things happened. Well. We had our internal media days Thursday and Friday where we get a lot of our in house content for different things. And we had a room set up where we were getting our content, and then we had like a holding room where the guys would walk into there and wait and then go into the next room. And we had John Ridgeway, which is what I want to get into after this part. He

was in there talking to us. He was waiting his turn to go into the other room, and we were just you know, gives us time to get in front of the guys, get some face time with them, ask them what they like. Hey, do you play video games? What games are you into yet? Any pets? Would you drive?

Just things like that, why they're waiting, just and just being around the guys helps us out a lot during the season because we get that relationship with him, and he's sitting there and then around the corner comes Josh Ball. Let's go into the same little holding area And I'm like, oh, and I tell you what, man, Well, let's go as a big freaking guy six to eight. Yeah, I mean,

Ball's a big dude, goes bigger than him. So they're in there and they don't say a whole lot, and I'm like, man, I don't know how this is gonna go. And then Ridgeway goes in and does his deal and is he's coming out, I tie him this really badly. But as he's coming out, I'm coming in with Josh Ball and they like in the in the doorway and Josh like sticks his hand out like this and goes, what's up, big dog? And they like wapped it up and like you know, shoulder bumped or whatever and walked on.

So like that kind of stuff like happens all the time done, especially like at training camp and stuff where you fight. But then do you is it always get squashed like that or does it ever carry over? And like guys really have beef with other guys in the locker room. Beef No, no, not beef, but training camp ota mini camp fights are stupid. Coach coaches hate them. Coaches get so mad because you get a chance, you got a chance to get right. Not only that, but

maybe they like little fights. I used to think that that's only when like practices down and you're trying to ramp it back up. But fights are dumb, Like they are really really really really dumb. And only a select field guys that I've ever been around, because they usually stayed on the field, the real tough dudes, the real tough dudes, they're waiting for you in the locker room

like this, Like yeah, the real tough ones. Like that's when you know he's not to be bleep with because you will have a little you know, a little craw fluffle you know, on the field and it's broken up, you know, and some guys will fight because they know, in an instance someone's coming to break it up. It's when you gotta deal with that real dude who don't know how to turn it off and wait for you

in the locker room. Now I've seen that before. That's like all right, this dude, But training kit those are the dumb. Think It makes it even more dumb when you try to punch guys in the face with helmets. That's even more dumb. But it's it's it's it's hot. You're already tired. Fighting takes so much energy up out of you. And if you don't get thrown out of practice, you gotta go back and practice anyway after you didn' huffed and puff with this big old other fat dude

for a little bit. You know, it's so dumb. And ninety five percent of the training camp fights that happened on the field never materialize into anything else off the field, or beefs or you know, dislikes or any of that other nonsense. It's the heat of the moment. It's alpha males. It's hot, we're tired. You might get a little extra, might be going too hard, whatever it may be. A lot of it doesn't roll, you know, roll over. But when it does, when it does, that's some good stuff.

That some good stuff. To see you right to the show day man. Good to see you guys, Border Patrol. Let you finally let you I would floor this week. Wait a minute, you went both? Then? Right? Yeah, I went, you know, I went to Mexico. Last we're gonna went to Florida. Oh, So the picture you sent us at ten thirty, was you heading to Florida thirty night? Yeah, leaving Mexico, headed the Florida. I was leaving here. So you weren't in Mexico last week. That was Mexica. So

you were going to Florida this week? Yeah, I went to Florida. Went to a little Monday reunion for the Newton family. How was that? It was great? Man, just trying to open up some doors. You know, we got a lot of relatives that have passed and we the kids, but it what's up? Because I like, well, how so we got together and sided, you know, because we had one of the day to walk in La telling about she our cousin. You know, I knew hus is elementary like you won then. I don't think now she's taking

pictures of a whole lot of personal stuff. I'm I'm gonna do a background check on. Yeah, we were talking about when you walked in, about fights. Oh I understood right away. Yeah, And we were talking about you know the one. Yeah, Nah, No, I never because I was one of those guys that what one. I'm gonna turn it off because I would get tired quick and I would just tell all my guys that I had guys, but we will blocking and there shoved me and I almost knocked me down, and I'll stop and saying, hey,

you won, and they're like, they're looking me crazy. And I just told them one day in the locker room, I said, follow them to tell y'all something. Talking to the defensive line. Yeah, anybody, it didn't matter, I said, brother, we out here trying to get through this training camp. And back then we had training camp. So it's hot, y'all know him out of shape. I say, now, if y'all, if y'all, if we start fighting, I'm asking you don't take your gear off when you get in that locker

room because that's where the fight gonna start. It ain't gonna be out there. I'm gonna let you, you know. So if you want to shove me, that's fine, I'll walk away. But if you hit me again when we go into the locker room, now, don't take your gear off because I'm coming straight out. He's gonna do. You're just talking about see you know, so you know a couple of pushment like hey you are and I walk away and he's a bus around him. Don't don't do that, Yeah,

you want. But going going back to that, we talked about this around draft time where they got they got pushed around the last few times they were in the playoffs, right, and they wanted a certain kind of guy years six years. Yeah, they wanted a certain kind of guy in here. They wanted a nasty guy. And I mean doesn't I mean you may not like it from a you know, coach and a player perspective, but you kind of like it

from green baby. I would think if it's at and ball going out of the coaches are like, yeah, okay, let's see what they got. If if it's ritually trying to muscle up on Martin, well then you got another story one. He's probably not that stupid, but too too. The coaches do not want to see their you know started in practice is practice. Let's say I'll show it's a split sucker. Uh, you know, going at it, it's

what two three suckers at the most. You you're trying to move somebody, and if I'm dominating you, that's just making me make the team. You see what I'm saying. Once it's over the whistle blow, Okay, if Martin don't feel like practicing he'll veteran. No, hey man, not to day. This dude's too rough, not to day. You know what I'm saying. But if you stay in there, it is

what it is. You know. Coaches ain't quick to break up fights unless it gets stupid, because nine times out of ten, it's gonna be one or two blows and you got a lot of staring and cussing and talking about each other, you know. Like I said, sometimes you get two guys that won't stop. But after they break them up and they go over there get their water to be like, yoh man, you're good. I'm good, you know,

and it passes away. You know. I can't wait to see what happens with these supposed to be tough guys. We'll know these two joint practices that you're gonna have in there. Ain't we going to Denver La la diverse? Two days? Right? What don't it's two day practice? I think I heard that the thing that I'm gonna email we said that we shouldn't share with the public. The rams are the rams my heart. Rams love that the rams love. Man, Let's talk man on the rams. Love

the fact that they that they love away practices. You know, they love, they love those type practices. The Rams. Yeah, they do that every year, you know. They they they don't mind going coming a day or two early practicing against the team. It's better to practice against other people. You can get a higher tempo if your players understand what you're doing, because they know they're not playing in preseason games. So the coach already saying, hey, man, give

me what you got against these guys. And once once guys see that your temple is a little different. Most time, they raised their level of deal when they came to us last year and uh, we had that one day of practice that that thing was popping, because that's what the Rams do. You know. Uh, your old team, the Patriots used to love to do that. Oh well, we'll come in a day earlier. I can come out here because it gives you a true chance if the players understand.

It's like, I don't know this dude. This dude don't know me. It's talent on talent. It ain't about no scheme, and ain't nobody trying to scheme. It's trying to see can you beat me? And I can beat you? So yeah, man, all right, let's take our first break when we come back. Y'all nervous and quiet and skinned till we come back. Check email right now. We will talk about a lot more and a lot less. Yeah, we can go out

You had a Nate By the way, we just found out right before we went on the air that this is our last show ever as a group. Derek is just spanning

the group. Oh, we'll find out about that at two o'clock. And I'm saying that Jess here we can try to wild us in trying to get it broken up. Mash over you though, Yeah, what have you done to make this man wanted this time? Yeah? I don't know. I know I think of a contract though, So I'm good, okay, so good. No, it's our last show until we come back from training camp. So as as this group, not sure what we'll do at camp. If me and you will be doing anything, I'm gonna find a way in there, man,

because I'm that dude. But like oh I did, I did get asked if you wanted to run the stage again with me this year. Let's do it, man, You'll do it. Okay. Oh, so I'm in So I don't need to talk to Derek. Derek, I don't need Jack and Shannon no choking? All right, Kurt, where do you want to take this a lot? Let's talk about to do. Who's gonna be critiquing us? Oh? Jerry Madeline, he's listening to the show that he's in the building. Yeah, he is listening. Probably I know what he's gonna tell me.

Tell me to have a good Nate, listen more to Jesse. He go tell Jesse to quit talking so much. Talk like Jesse talk like stamp back. And I'm like, nah my boy, nah my boy, something else. Almost tell Jerry, nah my boy, my boy, something else. You know what that is? Yeah, he gonna tell Kurt to talk more, Jesse to talk with us. Yeah, Nate, that's not the dun episode show. It's not these guys talk. It's not what are you laughing at? Nah my boy? My brother said, date?

Uh you sixty years old? Can you quit using that word? So a bunch around me, I'm like, ain't you black man? Like? Yeah, but come over, you better quit tell me you gonna slip up and say it? Yeah, will you stop? I hope if he directed that, Kurt, you really have to go to go seek. Yeah, they like like letting the commander's former names slip, Like you let this one slip. That's I thought it was. I thought there was something else. You let that one slip. You thought they were the

app Yeah, we're gonna be for real, man. All right, let's move on before Nate gets in it gets gets slip up. Kurt, where are we going with it? Two hours? Yeah? Left, I left. I leve Saturday night at two o'clock. He got back here yesterday nine o'clock. You left Saturday night too. In the morning, Yeah, from Florida, going telling the morning, going in Florida, and yeah, coming from Jeez, I don't any sleep. Yeah, man, I got some sleeping. I woke up this morning, had people just call them in great

things happening. I'm like, wow, man, I'm a blessed dude. Man, I'm a blessed dude. I I saw another example of Nate just being in a different world than we are, as that my dad actually was doing a New York Times cross crossword puzzle. Yeah, and the question was Newton of the Cowboys New York Times, New York Times crossword puzzle. I've never been in the New York Times crossrood puzzle, you know, you know, haven't have you Jesse another word

for noon? What it was? The Elephant cross? You know what I never think of Like we've been what a show for four years now, four and like we've all

gotten to know Nate is like he's just Nate. Yeah, And it never hits me until like when I go over to Cowboys Club next door and you go, when you go to the restroom down that hall, they have every cover that the Cowboys have ever had sports illustrated and you're on You're He's on one of them, standing there like this sixty one standing there like that, says

Nate by himself on the cover. And I'm like, man, I forget how big of a deal NATed because we just know him crazy uncle Nate when they did them Matten Special, Like h think about all of the other people ever since, for all of the people that could have been featured for a moment in time, through all of the John Matten years, Brett farre this dude, and Nate Newton's in there in the mix, in the mix, like I knew my picking Arnor Brett far Lawrence, Taylor, Nate.

What I'm saying. What I'm saying, that's a crazy classic being like Brett far Lawrence Taylor, Nate Newton so crazy. I'm telling you, man, I'm the both the best time I ever had. When I like, I was going off, I was like, I want to make like five all Man's. You know, that's the only goals, you know, all these other things I make, I like, but I wanted to make five and I didn't make it that that fifth year. And Johnson, what's wrong? She just ain't pumped up like

he used to be. I say, coach man, how how far away was it from making you all man team? Miss? Just how far away was that? He say, well, nay, this guy was this? I said, yes, sir, wow, I was just baring him. He said, yeah, next week, Oh man, Yes, sir, next to man. You told him, you told him how much it hurts you. Oh yeah. Yeah. I'm like, I

don't care about the all bro. I don't care about these bro because I'm gonna tell you jas those things, those things in life, Uh that man can give us, you know, the wards you know and all that, but not a relationship. You know that me and big cold man is the man he probably haven't talking to God like God. Now you need to line up like this and get the folks. You know what I'm saying, Kurt.

Where we're going? Well, Michael Parsons had an interesting quote, and I wanted to run up by you guys, especially with the break coming up. This is the I think you've said it before, This is the danger time and the coaches get stressed out. But Mike had a quote that said, it's truly great to be a cowboy and really living my dream the things I've got to do, and this is my first time doing this. He's now a superstar and going into his second year now and

getting these chances to do these different things. Is how big of adjustment is that for him? Or is he the type of guy that can handle this? You think I'm gonna say this right here, when you when you have that type of talent, When you have that type of talent, now, the only thing I'm gonna ask for him is do ten percent more studying and just work out ten percent more than he did last year, just

to keep moving forward. Yeah, just to keep moving for because when you have that type of ability, it's something about your mind. If you're a great study er and you do ten percent more, you're one hundred sent ahead to everybody else. And if you have that type of athletic ability and you work out timbercent more than you did last year, he was already ahead of everybody. How far more did that put you ahead of everybody? Jesse, give me joy to Jerry Mandel What his name Jerry Madelon?

Jerry Madelon? Should we tell everybody what Jerry? Who Jerry Madelon is? Just because they do it out there. He's gonna tell, like Jerry what Jerry Madelon would tell you now that you brought his name upright, he need to tell? Yeah, he was saying, so it was so Jerry. We've gotten to know Jerry over the years, probably the last what three years or so, Kirt, Yeah, he is. He works with a lot of talent and NFL Network, ESPN, a lot of on air talent, a lot of former players,

and he helps coach them in the broadcast profession. So whether you're on podcasts, whether you're you're on air talent or whatever. And Jerry usually comes in pre COVID. He would come in and spend a day a couple of days with us, Uh, give us feedback. Everybody except me and Kurt because they're so bad. We're not savable. But he's a great guy. He's got great information and little gives you little tidbits about things you never thought about, like your posture and doing things. And so he's in

today and he's listening to the show. I don't know why. I'm sorry, Jerry that you're wasting the hour of your day. And so that's what Nate's referring to. Because you want critique, I'll take thee I'll take it. But to um, Jesse's the one person on the show that actually has a chance of doing something beyond with their life. Yeah, he won't give me a shot. Though. I thought you were in on that USFL deal when you had when you

had you know, when you had Moose on on. I mean, hell he got he got jg a full time gig by getting him on that show. I need I need Moose's email. We'll talk about that. But on the Michael Parsons thing, that's the one thing that I'm fearful of is Stardom is a hell of a drug. It really is. And during this time, we've seen Michael Parsons. He dropped pucks, he swung back so much. I mean, I mean, he's, he's you name it so much. There hasn't been a sporting event. I feel like he has not attended at

this point in time. And now all that comes with the celebrity, the star, and even more comes with it when you're dealing with the star on your helmet. My concern isn't trouble for Michael Parsons, Like he doesn't. He doesn't strike me to be a guy who's going to find his way in a dui, a domestic dispute, a gun charge, or anything like that. He doesn't. He doesn't

strike me to be that kind of a person. What I fear is that the stardom can get so infectious, it can get so the dopamines can get so so high, is that he loses focus on the thing that got him there. And what I don't want is to rely on Well, I was off of football the year and I came in and I did this because it is not going to be that easy next year. Because there is film on you now. On Mondays, when teams come together offensively, they're going to say as an offensive unit,

as coaches, Okay, how do we stop number eleven? Like that is now the focus? It's not well, how do we stop paying go Gregory or someone eleven? How how do we stop eleven? Do we double them? Do we do we? Do we slide protection to him? Do we run away from him? Do we use a tight end and running? That is? He is now the star of the team's offensive, team's game plan. So I just don't want him to drift so far away into stardom that he forgets that football is the reason all of this.

It's possible, that is my it's and for a young for a young player, it can sometimes be overwhelming because he hadn't I don't. I don't know him personally, but don't like he said no to anything just yet. It seems to be enjoying them. And that's fine, and I'm totally fine with you enjoying the fruits of your labor. But there's a point in time where you have to kind of sever the tides of that and say, all right, now, I'm locked in. I gotta I gotta get back in

to the lab. I got to really focus in on what I have to do and not just allow yourself to say yes to everything, every single you know, commercial, every single ad, every single you know signing, every single charity event, every single everything, you know, every single vacation or whatever it may be, just be able to say, all right, I'm done now now this is football time. Two questions for follow up, sorry, Nate. One is does is there any does it ever bother your teammates that

you're doing all that stuff? And two is there anybody that's in that locker room telling them, Hey, this is great, but once we got into training camp, you need to cut this stuff off. This this is this is the deal. I saw Emma Dorwot, I saw Michael Juggler, and I saw Troy Juggler, and all of them had one thing in common. And as long as he's as long as he's doing it in this order, I take care of football first and all else. Because Mike them early they careers,

was doing the same thing. But how are they juggling all this? But then I started kind of watching them. You know, Emmett would come in sometimes as early as four o'clock in the morning and get his work out there. Troy would be very doing the day, depending on what he had to do. Same with Mike Michael work out late at night, ten eleven, twelve at night. As long as you did did everything football first then and it was like college, you did football related things first and

then you went to class. And that's how you got to treat this. Do all football related things first. And the only way a player that I would look at a player of funny, who's this guy's stardom? Is your game fall off? A loly? Is your game non't fall off? Do you a thing? You know? Kind of a follow up or did you can get all your questions answered there? Yeah? Yeah, all right? Kind of a follow up to that was McCarthy.

They asked him kind of about it, and he said, there's more to a second year jump than just stats. Obviously want to see what he does on the field, but it's also what kind of teammate are you becoming? Are you making others around you better? I mean that is that a key thing for Parsons. Does he have to kind of take more of that leadership role even though he's a second year player. Does he have to do more all the field? First, teammates Troy Imman and

Mike made me better on and off the field. On the field because I had to perform, and they demanded that I'd bet my best off the field because all the crimes feeling. When Mike said, I'm not doing that for three thousand, No, I'm not doing two hours for tree thousand dollars. I will. I would be like, h nah, nah, five grand, Mike, you won't and I'll do it for thirty five hundred. So they made me better hold it

off the field. All right, Let's take out a last on what, yeah, as a teammate, does he have to do more to improve as a teammate just being a dominant factor, for that's gonna help other guys be better. If he's not dominant, then other guys will struggle. Right, if he's not getting to the quarterback, Now, jay Ron Kurse got to cover guys a little bit longer if he's not tackling or doing certain things. Now, the defense had to stay on the field another series, Right, you

don't get up the field on third downs? Are so when he's his play itself and that's that goes back to him doing what he has to do individually, because his play alone is gonna make everybody else better. If he's able to do what he does, then now my dvs are playing better, my secondary is playing better. My guys up front and playing better. We're getting off the field on third down, you know, we're turning the ball over.

So now everything is working in our favor. If he's not doing those things, if he's not getting those ten plus sacks, if he's not creating that interior pressure on the quarterback, or you know, the running back is not being tackled at the line of scrimmage or behind it, or you know, if he's getting to the running backs getting to the second level and it's six seven eight yards to carry instead of being two three four yards

a carry. Now that's when you start saying as far as being a good teammate and off the field, I mean, guys don't really care about that, Like unless it's truly impacting what we do one the field. Listen, you can hang by your hang by your testies if you want to. I don't care, like as long as it's not as long as it's not testing, as long as it's not impacting what we do on the field. And that means if you off the field getting in trouble and you can't be a part of us on the field, that's impacting.

If you off the field and you ain't doing your football stuff first, that's impacting. If you if you're doing stuff to potentially endanger yourself or hurt yourself, that will not put you on the field, that's impacting our you

know what I'm saying. So no matter what you do off the field, as long as that off the field stuff isn't impacting what we as a whole need to do or need for you to do for us to be as best if we possibly can't on the field, have at a homeboy, I'm gonna say this, and I know you didn't didn't put this question to the tip, but you know why he's so important. You know what makes this kid is so important, more important than any

guy we've had in the last five years. While Parson is actually about the talk up no but what yeah, that that too, that that, But you know what he can do that we haven't had around here in a consistent basis. He can make a play when everybody knows that he needs to make a play. That's that's the difference. Man. He sacks the quarterback, harasses the quarterback when we need it the most. He gets a fumble, our interception, our tackle for loss when we need it the most. That

that's that's that's, that's why I'm you know, superstar. Y'all always hit me like he leads super scopper like nah nah, but you never heard me said that about him, because he makes plays when they need it the most. That's big. That's tough break. Now, Kurt got some good stuff out of that. You know. I'm letn't paying attention. Sorry, that's my fault. All right. We will take our last break when we come back. We lost another couple of good

ones this week. Step shut us, not them, but we can talk about that too and more when we come back on the last segment until August or September. Man, I hang up with the boys. Be right back. Back Hanging with the Boys. Welcome back to the show, the most searched podcast on YouTube on the Dallas Cowboys Podcast Network. Shanni Gross, Jesse Holly, Nate Newton, and Kurt Daniels. And we have a special calling guest that just was blowing the phone up and him and Jesse have been talking on Twitter lately, and our good buddy Mohammed from wherever Mohammed's from is on the phone. Kuwait, it's one hundred and thirty and kuweek. Oh my goodness, Jesse, take

it away. Oh next week one hundred thirty. Yeah, those guys in the super a good weather man, ladies, how do you Mohammed? What's up? Brother? How are you man? Yeah? Fine? I got a trivia question. What's the one thing that Shannon does as a host to his co host to qualify this show for the Guinness World Book up Record? Oh? Great question? Um what does he do? M You got me? Brother? Think about it. I'll tell you that later, Nate. I was checking your age on on to see because you

were you were? You and I have used the same terminologies and we have the same limitations on technology. And then Jesse Holley. Something popped up about Jesse Holley that said that his net worth was sixteen million? Did you know that? Sixteen Wow? When did you send him that extra money? You better keep that on the load before people started. Well, just the case he wants to bum off something for a writer or sometimes as long as you at poor, people will treat you like your poor.

And I could save my money. Well, I want to beat this made out of house. No not like that, No, no, not physically. I don't like that. But the reason I'm calling is because I wrote a book about the cowboys and I would like it's not published yet and I would like to donate the proceeds to Jesse Holliday's Helping Hand. If itself, I think that it's not published because of the title is controversial, and what I'm gonna do is

I'm gonna send a copy to Kurt Daniels. So I need the consent of Jerry Jones and DeMarco Murray because the book is about the two thousand and fifteen season when we waited four years for Jason Garrett and Jason Jerry Jones to put together a team behind Tony Romo, and were in two thousand and fourteen. We beat everybody and we got a twelve and fourteen season, and we lost on a fluke call at the end of the

Green Bay game. So they the summer that season, US fans were walking around thinking that, okay, next year is gonna be it. Then the marcomerrys for a raise. Jerry says, well, you've fired your price on the market because anybody can run behind my offensive line. And the crazy guy in Philadelphia pays the Marcomerry forty two million with the twenty

one million signing bonus. So he goes from winning a rushing title in two twelve to fourteen to being benched the last three games on Chip Kelly's team and we go four and twelve for that season and sou But also the book talks about how I became a fan since nineteen seventy seven to eighty six when I was in the US studying and working. And so with that, I'll just see if you guys have any questions, who is who is? Who is your all time favorite Cowboy player? MO?

I think Randy White was my all time favorite. And there was a chapter about Randy White in the book. Um, and uh he was just uh he took the game to a different level. And UM, I also liked Tony Dorset I was at the time. I love the fact that he skipped Seattle and came to Dallas. Um I liked you know, Harry Martin, Tootle Jones, that's the old

team and in the and this team. I really liked Dak Prescott because, um, off the field, he's done dealt with so much controversy and um waiting for Mike McCarthy to pay back all the times that he beat US Cowboys in Green Bay and a lot of that long

haired quarterback. You know he can beat us with one leg and of course, you just see Ali with that catch in San Francisco, which I showed my boys the feature that you have and tell him, look, this is how you should get motivated for life, for life, for life. And you know I when I came in seventy six, the college in that Thanksgiving told us that we couldn't stay. They were closing down the dorm, so we had to

find a place to stay. So a friend of mine invited us to his house another student, and we went to Hope, Arkansas. We stayed that Thanksgiving with the Junkie family. Elia Junkie was his name, and his father was a Raising Backs, avid Hogs fan. So we watched full ball that throughout that whole weekend and got a lesson on American football. And in the middle of the Hogs game, he took us out on the porch and he started

teaching us how to hog call. The Hogs. Sue two boys from two camel boys from the deserts of Kuwait, wondering if it was religiously acceptable to call hogs. We didn't. We didn't, All right, go ahead, Yeah, seventy seventh season comes on and it's uh. They win the Super Bowl and the love and love from that day on. That's awesome. That's a great story. All right, get that book to Kurt, Kurt law your edits, yeah, for free and he'll get

approval from DeMarco. John. I won't guarantee that we're working on a better title to get that thing. Get that thing published matter. We appreciate your support, man, all the way from kuwait all year long. You are one of our you're one of our favorites, man, and we thank you for your support. We thank you for always tuning in. We thank you for uh broadcasting us all the way out there, man, and even though today's our last show, man, you're gonna be with us throughout this offseason and when

we get back in August. Yeah, appreciate your listening, Appreciate your most sir. Thank you, guys. And it's the what's the answer. What's the words stop? What's the answer to the trivia question? He uses the words stop more than any other host onhearth any other So stop. I didn't realize I say stopped him? Well, thanks, go back and count how many times he just is the word stop when he wants to stop. You guys say, you know I'm gonna get oh yeah, okay, yeah, when Jesse starts

talking about my mom, yes, I say Steven. He even said that once to his mom. His mom got on him one on one call and he started saying telling her to stop. Stop. You're right most you never got over the little baby problem. Stop. All right, I got it. Hey, appreciate you calling him, O. Thank you? All right, before we get out of here, man, it's been a it's been a tough twenty twenty two around here. Um. You know we we we lost miss Maryland, yes, a couple

of months ago. Uh, Dan Devons that. I don't even know if we talked about Dan on the show, but it was with the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders for years and years. Was really active with the military branches and helped with the USO tours and things. We lost him earlier this year. We lost what Marian Barber was that last week a week before last UM, and then we lost a couple of a couple of people close to the organization. One was Don Perkins, we'll talk about him in a second.

The other was miss Jeanette and she was our receptionist at Valley Ranch. We lost her over the weekend. M was our receptionist at Ali Ranch moved over to the Star when we opened up here. Always had a bright smile on her face. Was always just the nicest person, beautiful lady, just the friendliest person ever. Um, she was a she was, she was by her if you ever called and called the front desk, she was the one. When you would ask to speak to Jerry Jones after

a loss, she would send you to Jerry's voicemail. And I don't know if that voicemail ever got checked, but there was. There was a voicemail where you could call and she would direct you to Jerry's. H to Jerry's voicemail, and bless her heart, after we would lose, she would get hundreds and hundreds of phone calls the next morning about people wanting to tell her how to run the team, and people want to talk to Jerry and and all

that stuff. So she was great. And Kurt, you did you have much to do with don do you interview him? Over the years. I never interviewed him personally. We did do a documentary that he was involved with in some stories, and uh, just a gentleman, you know, just made he had an amazing life story, you know, grew up in Iowa and just kind of what he overcame to to reach The Cowboys played ball at New Mexico University. I think there was New Mexico University or New Mexico State Apologiez.

I'm not totally sure. But just a great nice guy and really the first Cowboys star running back you know, back in the day, still fourth all time I think, and the really the franchise history for rushing yards and um, really cool story with him, and he's he's been battling some illness for a while, so um, rest in peace to him and he is really really great. Guys. We've lost Rayfield, right um. I think there's been a couple more name slipped my mind, but yeah, it's it's been

a rough tent twenty two so far. Cowboys Nation. Well, rest in peace, miss Jeanette and Don Perk. Yeah, some piece that's a project for you right there? Man? What's that? You want something for your social media? God, go go go Earth unearthed? Those uh those voicemails, Oh yeah, go on Earth, those voicemails talking about yeah, one on Earth. Those voicemails. We might have to transcribe those instead of

playing them. Yeah, wow, you're here you're here, This is right here the most if I had your money, a lot of them would start tell you, man, I have to hear that up wherever you go. You hear a couple of times to know what I'm saying by fans saying they can help us win if they had money. Yeah, it's screwed up. Well, Kurt, are you going on any vacations or anything? What are you doing before the season kicks off? Yeah, hoping to get away. That's kind of

a family vacation. Maybe Chicago or something like that. Family up there, so get out of this heat. Yeah for a little bit. It's somewhere a little cooler for a while. Yeah, Jesse, you doing anything up until the season broke? Yeah, sixteen sixteen mile. I think the question for Nate is are you are You're not going? Are you're not going? Not going out? I got three weeks in a row we were talking about. I was talking about you other day at the barbershop because I was like, I was like,

I said, Nate's pitching gotta be great. I said, it has to be great. I said, I looked at my prince and I said, Nates said, mine's gonna be pretty decent. When I get to that age, I said, Nates has to be fantastic, because this is the only dude I know that it's we're in. We're in the major. I've never seen gas to payoff stuff is the key. I've never seen gas this high before in my lifetime. And

Nate's driving everywhere everywhere. He's not like, yo, like it's a it's a to go from South Dallas to come up here to do a show like that's like almost a quart to take gas. Nate's not going from like McKinney so worth. I saw Nate's going to Florida next called Memphis, Mississippi, Louisiana. I saw a meme today. Y'all probably saw it. It's a gas pump. It's just laying on the ground and says for six dollars gallon, you can hang it up yourself. I'm gonna tell you, man, Yeah,

I gotta what you got. The next three weeks, I got the Hall of Fame Atlanta, but I'm flying there. They paying for that. And then I got to come back and go to uh Delaware Biggie's UM golf tournament and yeah, and then after that, I'm driving over to Delaware then I gotta go to in a couple of weeks. Then I go to Florida from my fourth of June for my mom's family, and then California, and then I'm gonna go to California. No, I'm still we can go

up to South Carolina because I got another deal. I gotta go to some mistake in Florida that week, and then I just got to find out the dates that we gotta be the camp to do. All right, I'm driving, and just you ain't going with me so about asolutely. I don't even don't sit on the part you grow with me. I'm not twenty one hours to Delaware, Delaware twenty one hours? Wow, man as an animal? Dollars to

Delaware twenty one hours or forty minutes. Well, I leave on a Friday night, you know, and that's probably stop somewhere on the gas don't bother me, and the gass don't bother me. But the hotel rooms do. Because over the years, when you gotta when you just get the same hotel room for fifty five dollars, and now that costs one hundred and fifty five dollars, you didn't give one of them. Say if you're not. If you're not, if you're not a I'm gonna turn into a truck

on some of them. What I mean is, I'm have my clothes running and get me a shower, and I gotta you know, I gotta sweep in my van. If you're not like a member of like hotels dot com or Hilting somebody like that on the way, because if you remember hotels dot com, you get a free room like every ten stays, and or you should have a credit card one of the hotels. You just hear me, he gonna go to the truck stop showering, sleeping. You

know I got it's better than you think. Bro. No, No, I saw your nice yeah yeah, pretty big good, nice spreader he got there. Man, are you going anywhere? I'm gonna go somewhere. I just don't know where I'm going on. I gotta get out. I gotta get out of here for a little bit. No, probably not Mexico. With this monkey pox, I don't think you can get You gotta get tested to get back in. And no, they lifted they lifted getting tested every time he comes back in.

They lifted good points. They lifted the the the restrictions to come back into the United States, they have to have all the COVID tests and all the consoles. Maybe I will just lifted that all right, Yeah, just don't eat any What is it eating wild dead animals and that how you get monkey pops? Yeah, I'm pretty sure, like if you're eating wild you know what you are from. So you ain't you you ain't you ain't the first

getting a little rack cool. I notice when I went through losing Anam, Mississippi and uh Alabama used to be not a lot of road killed. There's a lot of role kills. I guess everybody like no backing off of it. They're not taking it home, all right, Kurt, good seeing Jesse, Thanks for bringing day, Thanks Jazz, thanks for keeping us on the air, Thanks for keeping the live streams up. We will be back with all of you. I'm gonna go talk to Jerry and either not missus Jones, but
