The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. Flowing out of the Backfield's flooding down the sidelines. He's hanging with the Boys, broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters at the Star in Frisco. Now your host, Nate Newton, Kurt Daniels, and Shannon Gross Wet and Wild, Wednesday at the Star in Frisco. Yes, sir, of course you would say. It's hump day, Kurt. How's your energy today? It's good? Yeah, how's your energy? It's

hanging in there, doing all right. Kurt may say some crazy stuff on the show today. He said he's feeling a little loopy. I don't know what loopy means. Maybe we can get him to cuss on the show. I love it. Maybe we should get some of Douglas's whiskey. Make it fun for everybody, Make you feel better? How did that become a topic? What my whiskey? Did you not listen to the intro? I guess I didn't. All right, go back to sleep, Douglas call us eight eight eight

eight five five two two nine seven. We want to know how you guys and girls feel about this trade. Did the Cowboys give up too much? Are you excited? Are you throwing the season away? Are you pissed off? We want to know. Do you like Christmas? In April and in December? That's your draft? Yeah, number one pick. You just threw away your Christmas right now? Well, you hope you didn't just get a buy a pair of

wool socks. You just got that wool sock, that that top for the eighteenth time, you kid find a trade eighteen alsa, this is the last time. Get hope. Guys are kind of down here. No, I'm not down, Kurt. I just the people that I've been conversing with are not happy. They're not exciting, believe it or not. At one at one point in time, Amari Cooper was a draft pick and he was a number one draft pick. He was like a fourth player. Yeah, so at one

time he was a number one y'all. So I mean they gave up a one four one, okay, And I think I think the thing I think probably what gets you the most, what kind of gets me thinking about this is they've been unsuccessful with this in the past, especially at the wide receiver position with Joey Galloway and then with Roy Williams, and it looks like you finally broke the chain of throwing picks at a problem and

then getting a player that somebody else didn't want. And look like, you know, you're starting to build this team with youth, and you got Vandresh. It looks like you hit on him. It looks like you find only hit on Jaalen. Now that he's healthy, you know you've hit on you know, Gregory is back, the offensive lineman. You got all these guys. It looks like, Hey, you're starting to build something, and all of a sudden, we got

a problem. We gotta fix it. We go get a receiver and we don't even know if the receiver positions the problem because there's other things that are going your offensive line, you don't know your quarterback. And it's just like, ah, but you know what if they sat there and didn't do anything, everybody be pissed off because they're like, oh, they just threw the season away. Let's go. Let's just

fast forward to the draft. So where are you added this? Well, you know, I'm just I'm still they got a young, twenty four year old receiver. I mean when they got Roy Williams, he was twenty eight when they got Joy Galloway's twenty nine. I mean, they gotta there's no I have to trust the draft gurus because I'm not a draft guy. But there's no receiver next year's draft, it's gonna be this kind of talent. So did you think Missus Jones and mister Steven Jones, and you think Will

McClay say, hey, we're gonna wret brought us draft? Were you think that? You know? Probably not. I just think they knew that number one, number one white out was gonna be a huge need going into next year's draft. Hey, well, you dude dollars. Oh welcome, we have missed this guy so much. We're just gonna get straight to it. Welcome back to the show. Finally, Jay and Rhode Island. Hey guys, all right, we're good man. Now, Jay, does this does

this rank higher on your list than your blind date? Oh? Man, you guys are never gonna let me live that. Oh hell no, no chance, Hell no, you guys. Yes, yes, yes, this is a ten point old compared to a point zill Zille, tell us how you what are your thoughts on this trade? How do you feel about it? I think it's fantastic. I mean, first of all, I mean, the kid's only twenty four years old. He's a two time Pro Bowler his first years in the league. Last year he was banged up a little bit. They changed

those sees this year. You know, now he's going to new code, this, that, and the other. I mean, I think it's just what the doctor were orders. I mean, I really do. I think it's gonna make a big difference. I mean, all the draft number one receivers, like like O. B. J. Was was like a great rookie receiver. This kid was a great rookie receiver. Tell me another one after that. I mean, within the past six years. I mean, all the receivers that have been taken in the past three

four years in the first round, they always suck. I mean, none of them made the Pro Bowl. But at least at least you know what you're getting. Yeah, but are you okay with giving up a number one? Next year's number one? Absolutely? Loop, because I know what I'm getting. Yeah, you've used your number one, this is your number one.

But I mean, but Jay, does it bother you that this guy has virtually kind of first two years he came out swinging, and then last year and this year he's kind of kind of a middle of the road guy. You're okay with giving up a number one? Well, as I said, I mean last year he was a little banged up and they changed offensive coordinators on them, you know what I mean. And this year you've got a new coach. It's kind of like when someone, you know,

when they buy a business, what do they do. They fire all the old employees and they bring in their own people, you know, and you know, and that's what they did. And I really think we got to steal. I mean, we'll probably would have been drafting at the same spot anyway. Okay, we need a tight end, you know, maybe it's all offensive line. Get those guys in the second, third, fourth round, and if there's somebody that you really really want the first round, you can always go back up

and get them. And let me at Jay, let me ask you this right here. Yeah, And along with this, with Cooper sitting, they try to throw the ball to Gallop a little bit more too within him and ball because they're gonna throw the bees and so this should open things. I'd be more for bees than Gallup. If if this guy connects right, Well, absolutely, I mean Beasley is gonna go back to his natural position in the slot.

I noticed that they don't send Gallop across the middle because you know, you get killed and he needs a little more meat on his bones. Now you're gonna worry about the crossing patterns with this guy, and you've got Gallop flying up the sideline. You got Beasley doing this thing you know you can do. You know, the hot shots. You know, if let's just coming boom, he's gonna turn around, flaps his hands. He's four or five yards on the field. You know how he does he runs back one yards,

which around, goes and gets another five or six. I mean, plus it'll open up the running game as well, you know, and you know, let them blotch us a lot because not even in the box, they can't do them anymore because they have to count from mars. Jay, Jay, you're heaping Shannon. We we've he's sent broadest Is told him, Curtis told him numberous tigns. He still don't believe in what you're saying. So just you're preaching, brother, that's great. Sh Shannon's not He's not all in. Shannon is not

all in yet. I gotta see it. Man, you know, hey, are you from Missouri? No? No, here's the deal. I don't know. I like the move. I'm glad they did it. I don't know if I like the move for a number one number. I was thinking number three when I first heard the rumors. Then it was a number one. I was like, WHOA, you wouldn't make this deal for Earl Thomas, you know, which arguably is different positions, but

arguably one of the best at his position. This guy to me and well, true, but this guy, you gotta under contract for what two years, and then you got to make a decision there. I just need to see it. I hope. What I hope this does is opens everything up because now you got a guy that can burn you and I don't know, so, yeah, you didn't have that guy before except Zeke and then when they're putting eight or nine in the box, he's not burning anybody. So I just need to see it. I like to move.

I don't disagree with it. I just I hope, of one, if we're in the playoffs and we went a playoff game, it's totally worth it. But I mean, we got to see it. The only things that a death and tax. So we you know, we don't know, you know, what's gonna happen. But you know, I think for you know, because he came out really young, change of scenery might do him really well. I mean, they did their due diligence. This isn't something they did capriciously, you know, right off

the hook. This is you know, you know, I was thinking we were missing a piece, like I don't know, before the Washington and I'm like, you know, it's like making a sore swede a minute, I'm missing something. So I need more. I need more basil people, you know, I just hope, I hope you just need one piece and not several. Though. That's well this team and will continue to grow. Thank you James for the call. Jane,

you did all you could. I don't think you convinced him, but you did all you good hearing from what do you think it's a good call? Oh man? You know what, Man, the people that I've been yesterday, I was so excited and I'm still excited. But the people that I've talked to, uh, we keep comparing ourselves to other teams, and we're the Eagles have a better personnel than us. The other team, everybody that wanted this guy that was offering a second

how better personnel than we do. And the reason I said we had to give more is because they may think that we're not going to have a good record and that we may be drafting and that uh and our personnel is not what the Eagles personnel is. So hey, here we go. He favors the bold, That's what I say, you know, and I used to watch that. I used to watch so far was bold and be beautiful. Yeah, mine was young? All right, Jay? Thanks, all right, good

hearing from you. Call us five five two two nine seven. Who's Doug Douglas? I don't know that guy, okay, thanks to Sir Douglas. Paraclow, Oh that guy? Okay? All right, Kurt? What are you looking at over there? Well? I thought it was interesting, um, and I want to ask Nate about this and how does Cooper now fit in? What what's the how do they integrate him into all this? And DeMarcus Lawrence had a quote earlier today. They asked him what he thought and he said, I don't like thinking.

I like proving to people. Just like he has to prove to y'all. He has to prove to us that he's in here to come to work each and every day just like the rest of us and get this thing rolling. So it sounds like even de Marcus is like, prove it to me. Yeah, man, let's go. I ain't got a problem with that, right there. Man, I don't. And my deal is I want him to just to play and how does he fit he's the man and to prove another Let him prove he's not the man.

Don't come in and make him not the man because you don't want to throw to him. Oh that's not throw to him. Everybody's expecting us to. So let's go the opposite with everybody expect prove he ain't the man and one and if he proves not to be the man, then throw it over that at the number thirteen, which we remember we started, remember we started doing train. I said, let this kids start. Let throw this kid the ball. Now we have gotten another receiver in him. And do

do we know who? Do we know who Gallup is? We still don't know who Gallup is? So so how difficult will it be to integrate, to get Cooper into this What shouldn't be hard. It should not be hard even if you have to hand seeing to him a few things. Even if you have to basically telling him coming out of the huddle what to do, he's smart enough to do it. You know who's your number two? Is it? Is it Herns or is it Gallup? Believe you asked that? Well, I mean on the other side,

number two? But no, no, no, I'm not attacked. No, we know who's the number two Beasley. Yeah, but you asked me, who's the guy on the other side? Yeah, come on, who's the guy on the other side? It needs to be Gallop, thank you, needs to be who's going to be the guy? Who's that guy on the other side? Well, Gallup? Thank you. So you really think they're gonna start Gallop over Herns? Yeah, they need to. I would take bets on that right now, when y'all

call in, tell us will start. I will take even money on that because you know why, why Because this offensive coaching staff's stubborn as hell, and Gallup hasn't proven himself. He's starting to, but Hearns is a veteran, and I just don't think that they're gonna be like the guy that has the most potential go play. I don't I don't I bet when they release the starting lineup in the week and a half on Monday Night football, Alan Hernes is going to be opposite of he's so disappointed.

Wouldn't surprise me that don't like it? But it wouldn't surprise me. Ain't taking no, Yeah, put you on bet sham eye brows. I've got Gallup, I got Gallup man. All right, we'll see the thing. I understand where Shannon's coming from. I don't approve of that. Okay, let's go to the phone. Jerry Conway, what's up? Man? What's up? Guys? Who starts opposite the Cooper? Gallup? Alan Gallup? And a heartbeat? Who not? Not? Who should? Who are they going to start?

They're going to start, hearns, but they should be Okay, Shannon has affected the wo All right, sir, cocktails with Shannon. I gotta take his side on what'd you think about this trade? Man? All right? So I love the trade. I love Cooper. I don't like the price. But you know what kind of is what it is when you want something you overpaid for it, So you know, get

past that part of it. I mean, Cooper had I think over seventeen hundred yards is last year in school, he had two good campaigns coming out as a pro. My problem, or as Nate would say, my big butt in all of this is and I don't know if the coaching staff keeping the reins on him or it's his personal decision. Scared to turn over the ball. We have a quarterback that won't let it fly and he

very rarely makes anticipatory trolls. So in the NFL, these wide receivers are opened for a second maybe if that a split second, and that usually happens when they're coming out of their breaks, if they run a good pattern. If Dak isn't going to let the ball fly and trust these wide receivers, it's a waste of a trade. Well, like like Nate said yesterday, this is about Dak. This is all about him. You haven't get a weapon, so it's gonna be on The pressure is maybe on Dak.

Now one two three, release it one two three, full fire, release it one through seven, Release the balls. Yeah, I mean he's he's got to let the ball go when these guys backs are still to them and trust that they're going to make the right break. And I think the coaching staff has to kind of take the reins off in a little bit and say, hey, if you turn the ball over, you turn the ball over. It's no big deal. We'll get through it. But the big plays that could happen. Hey, hello, man, you said that

too easy. We can't let it be that easy. And on the point you guys were making last week, I had to tell you, Nate Um reiterating what you said about Philadelphia Eagles fans. I grew up in Philadelphia Cowboys fan there for forty five years. Huh, Eagles fans are the worst people on the face of the earth itself, just the worst people. Pretty thanks for calling us, Jerry, appreciate the appreciate the feedback. Man call us eight five, two, two, nine and seven. So what is it like as a player?

You know, he's coming into a wide receiver room now where all these guys are sitting around saying, well, he's here because they don't like what I'm doing, or you know, my friend Bryce brother. You you hope and pray that you're in the first set of the mix. You ain't looking at him worrying about him. You better be looking at them dudes in the room. Who you said, man out, I am at least better than him, you know you, because that dude over there gonna get every opportunity, So

you don't worry about Amari. What I'll be looking at if I'm Hearns, I'm looking at Dantay like, Yeah, I can do a little bit more than you. I don't have to outrun the bear. I just gotta outrun you. Yeah. Let me let me ask you this, Nate, Well, I ask you this when we come back from break. Let's take let's take one more call and then we'll go to break real Anthony and Miami. What's up, man? What's

going on? Fellas? My dude had not much man, just hoping Kurt doesn't pass out in the the middle of the show, entertaining don't hit you, don't just don't hit your teeth on the microphone and knock him out. Y'all leave my dude man back. Even though you kind of win against my boys against Javiel, but I would have got on you about that. But anyway, we got that old number nineteen up there. I'm hometown kid, No, not not that nineteen, the two Times football nineteen. Amari there and I can

voux for him. He's at He's from rober school. It's from Robert School. But I followed his career on the Guy's great intelligent, card working, humble young man. You know what I'm saying. You can see the talent there, so you know you see what he did that damn shoot he did since it't been in the league. So when people say is he worth the number one, Yeah, he's worth the number one, Soweth the number one. He's twenty

four years old and I already made two Pro Bowls. Okay, he had some draw Jerry Rights has some drops his first two years. His first year, they want to throw him in the garbage can and saying, friend, what he turned out. So let's just go on with the little positive. Let's just know that tune and six, maybe even nine to seven will win this division. We let one slip away Sunday. Let me tell you something that Scott Litterhand

just keeps consistent with play calling. What I mean, let dak be da let him throw the ball as if you're in the two minutes. Seems like they won't better when you're in a two minute offense. Let's just do that and get he's got the weapons. Let's let him throw that thing and slean that thing and let's see what happens before we start really evaluating saying if we need to pay him or not. And I guarantee you we have some positive results. So like that's me, man,

Thanks for the call. Appreciate you. Appreciate the calling. Eight D eight five two two nine seven. Let's take a quick break and we will come right back and get more calls. I got a birthday shout out. Okay, who is it? Man Valdez Underscore Sports Underscore Photography sent me a message on Instagram and said birthday shouts that the guy that uh the Tories das here part of that family that used to raid our Carston Mexton Mexican boarder. I don't know,

maybe you can ask him. Yeah, Colin in Brock, I want to know you see about to come hunt you down. Phil. I read something uh in the Lewis the More books a long time. Hey, guys, what's up? I got Well, I'm glad you got to be right away because my cell phone battery is about to die. Talk fast, talk fast, Okay, okay, talk fast, okay. First thing, I'm all in on the trade and what I wanted to say Nate and Tim

Shannon Kurt was this the guys. Well, I've said the guys, the people out there that are down on the down on the trade because of what we gave up in a first round draft choice. I would be willing to wager that there's a large fact faction of them that said back in two thousand and sixteen that there wasn't a franchise quarterback in the draft. And they're talking about car some wins and Jared Goff and look what happened.

You know, I mean these experts that say that Mari Cooper is not worth the trade that I mean, what do they know? I mean, they couldn't tell a franchise quarterback when they saw one, So how do they know? Uh, you know what's coming up in the draft if it's you know, the receivers out there or even better as close to Maury. That's that's my thoughts. Appreciate the call, man, Thanks Phil, And let's just Phil from where Lafayette, Louisiana.

And so Phil, whoever do that? Man? Were you calling your homeboy Shannon and have your battery local Shanno may blast with the thousand questions. You got to be ready, Okay, I know, man, I'll be better next time. Thank you, not today, not today, by you know what? That to me, that's what makes sports so great, and that I think that's why people like sports is because we can all three have different opinions about one particular topic and all

three of us could be right. Yeah, and you have I mean, you can you know, and if you're not right this week, you might be right the next week. Same okay, okay. And these so called experts. Yeah, they're they're experts air quotes, but they're not perfect. Nobody's perfect that anything they do, they're gonna miss not in sports. And when you got three hundred dudes, you're evaluating, you're

gonna miss on some of them. People don't ever remember the ones you're write on, but they hold it against you when you're the only person I ever know to be perfect. The only person in sports that I ever known to be perfect brought us. No, it was Don King Thomas. He was gonna walk out with whoever wants. Oh yeah, he had played both side. Yeah, you're gonna walk out with whoever. Yea, I brought you, Mike, but I'm going to He might walk in with you, but

he's walking out with somebody else. I think that's I think that's a great thing about sports is you can have an opinion and you can be kind of right, kind of wrong. Yeah. Yeah, that's why it's middle role. Yeah. Sports, it's why so much fun to talk sports in the bar with your buddies because they may not know a whole lot about what you're talking about, but they can be right. I'm gonna tell you somethingcause I'm gonna kill

you win. This kid can come in and catch seven hundred yards the rest of the season, seven eight hundred yards rest of the season, seven eight touchdowns equal what Daz does. We still don't make the playoffs, and people be like, man, we got this dude, but you know, yeah, you know, I couldn't even get into the playoffs. So what Okay? I was looking at the first round receivers

that have been picked since since Cooper has been picked. Okay, okay, you would you rather have any of these guys last year? DJ Moore or Calvin Ridley? Maybe Ridley reason, I won't really now it's Ridley is only six months behind him, and it's Ridley is gonna be twenty four years old, and two has a seventeen First round receivers taking were

Corey Davis, Mike Williams, and John Ross. Who yeah, you know if they've been, like said, any of those guys on so many Mike Williams have played wide receiver and been Dre Douglas. We ain't talking about that. We talked about something else. Here's first friends, I love you. First round wide receivers in two thousand and sixteen, Corey Coleman, Will Fuller, Josh Doson and Lakwan Treadwill. Now those guys are really Treadwill is treading real light. Not so well?

He Hey, Douglas, I love you, man, I love you Douglas. I mean, do you ask that question again, Douglas? How many Mike Williams have been have played wide receiver and been drafted in the first fricking round? I think at least. Okay, Douglas, thank you man, just when you came with a great and important question. Yeah. I actually did some research, and Doug just, oh, I wonder how many might see us there are in the league. I don't know. That was a tangent. Hey, Kurt, Yeah, look this up. Look up

das uh touchdown to interception ratio in college. I want to see if he took more chances in college than he did in approach. Let's go back to the phone. Mike and Detroit. What's up, Mike? I was Mick and Cincinnati? Okaynla, what's up Mick and Cincinnati? Hey, what's up? Guys? How are you doing? Hey man, how are you? I'm great Spagnola, Mick Spagnola. I wish okay, okay, okay, No, I mean I think it's a great addition, but for a high price. Uh,

hold on, hold on, I don't understand it. You can't have it on both sides, But do you want it on both sides? Explain? Yeah, I mean I think we definitely needed that, and I think a first round tick is a lot to give. But I think that's I think we made the right decision because I mean, you were here, things all about, Oh we could have gotten we could have given that pick for Earl Thomas or you know, the Patriots got Josh Gordon with a fifth round pick. But I'm not If you look at the Cowboys,

we're a young team. We I think our secondary is doing fine. I think our defense is doing fine. But where where's our you know, where's the fault in our in our team? I think it's our passing game. And if we can open up our other receivers, I think that's exactly what Cooper will do, because we can't let Alan Hearns take the weight of being a number one wide receiver because he's not. I think even I think he's a good asset, but I don't think he's a

number one receiver. If you put a Cooper in there, he's going to take that. Think that number one responsibility, that lets Alan Hearns be a number two. That let's pull Beasley be in the slot. I think that opens up our offense. Oh you met Michael Gallant. I mean what I want to happen is what's different than what's gonna happen. I think that was just the conversation. I'd love to see Gallup on the other side. Okay, thank you. But do you think do you think we're going to

see Gallup on the other side? I do, I really honest to do. I think we're gonna see it. Nate does. I don't. What do you think, Kurt? I'm with you. I think they need to play, but they won't start him. I mean, he's gonna get plenty of action, but they won't. What do you think you think the same? Let me say this here, Mickey Fellas. It's some positions that you

might as well be on the bench. It fifty nine snaps for a wide receiver and you only get targeted too, you might as well be on the bench for fifty nine snaps. The only way you can prove your worth and your value of snaps is if you have fifty nine snaps in thirteen targets. Now you're affecting the game. Now people are adjusting to you, especially if you catch

nine or more. Now people are adjusting you. If you're just standing out of a fifty nine apps, the corner is gonna just stand out there with you, and they're gonna brack it beasday planning it now officeive line of weird different for fifty nine snaps. I gotta block somebody, I gotta hit somebody. But why receivers gets down? Well, that's thirty five, that's thirty six. Ain't those to me? Yeah?

It don't mean nothing, It really don't. Hearns has played sixty seven percent of this Thanks for the call, Mick, Mick, Mick. We didn't get to hear by What did he change his mind? What? I didn't change my mind? You're still going with Herns. I mean, I think Herns will be out there, but I think Gallops should. Okay, all right, thanks Mick played sixty seven percent of the snaps. Gallop has played fifty eight percent of the snaps. I bet that I think I'm gonna go ahead and say it.

They will. It will be Gallop, it will be Herns. Okay. So Herns is the mistake two to one and forced you to give away a first round pick for for Monnie Cooper. But you know what, Douglas, that may makes sense. And guess what, this team doesn't have any freaking sense when it comes to offensive side of the ball. Herns has been targeted twenty eight times, Gallup twenty two times so far. How about the last two games, because I think Gallup is getting more involved. Well, this last game,

it's definitely more productive than last. I know Herns had his best game this last one. Yeah, but it was still a Ferns was targeted six times, cut five balls. Gallup was targeted five times, cut three balls and a touchdown against the Redskins. Yeah, I'm telling you. I'm telling you, fellas. Why tell me from your knowledge and your knowledge? Why would you not the coaches knowledge? Don't try to think about the coaches? Why would you start Herns over? Get

Michael Gallup? Just tell me why? I want to get from both of you guys from I would not, That's what I'm telling you. I wouldn't, but I think this coaching staff will, and I think the reason they would I don't. I agree. I wouldn't start him too, But the reason they would is just because he's a veteran and he's he's got more experience. That's but I agree they named Gallant needs to be out there getting that experience. I agree, But they've showed us time and time again

that experience means more than giving guys a chance. You know what. I maker even saw a hint of that six weeks ago, but not now, not now. Hey, I don't disagree with him, got this, man, I'm just telling you what I think is gonna happen. You know what, we might be wrong. Nate's eating victory cookies. Gall Up started the last game. Yeah it is with Herns? No, yes, yeah, hers still Yeah, I'm still I'm still thinking that. I'm still thinking Herns is starting, not gall with a eight

five twenty two ninety seven. Was uh, twenty two seventeen, that's his number? Who he No, he's nineteen to Bryce Butler's twenty two seventeen. Call in no, no, no, twenty two ninety seven, Taco. I'm just saying you won't make it if you do. That's what I'm trying to tell you. Going with him, It's just like calling Joe's quiet. Hey, what's going on y'all listen. Um. First of all, I appreciate, um,

appreciate being able to be on the radio with you guys. UM. I do say that for my team, it takes It's taken a lot for Jerry Jones to eat some of the criticisms that he's had over the years. But this particular, this particular move, I mean, it has the ability and that and I believe that's where he's at with these some of these moves. It has the ability to actually affect the team defensively in the future, offensively right now,

offensively and as a whole for the organization. It helps you solidify some of I guess some of Deck's questionable issues holding the ball, decision making people, the thought of people not being open, or the vision of people not being open. Of whether he has that vision or not, this team was duilt to be. It was built to be a pounding team, a running team, with compliments of

other people around him that haven't had that. So to give him the benefit of the doubt with a real with a real number one, like we've been saying, can you in the beginning of the year, can you do it without a number one wide receiver in the beginning of this year. That was the question. You found out you can't not in this offense anyways, or at least not with this quarterback. You can't do that. Jerry Jones went out and he I applaud him in this move.

He went out and he did what you what you would, in actuality next year have to suffer through three years of trying to make a wide receiver be the wide receiver you want him to be. He picked one up with a with a resume, He picked one up that had something behind him, and he made the move. Do you think, do you think of a first round or

next year is too much? I think it looked with the with the I guess in the thought that you would probably have picked a wide receiver because of the need, or do you pick to the board you you would have to have picked the wide receiver. And seeing what we see this year, regardless of what the board says to you, we we we we are in need. We're in need of a wide receiver. That would have been your need. So you would have been stuck in that position.

He did. He took away that thought. Right, Yeah you know, yeah, thanks for the call man, good point. I mean, that's the way you're looking at it is, Hey, there's not say, gonna start a month later on the draft because he didn't have to invest in the first round. Yeah, but I mean, if that's the way you're looking at it, and you're not impressed with from what I hear, there's only maybe two maybe three guys that are first round worthy at the receiver position, and you think this guy's

that's how they did look at it. It It has to be because they felt that was the biggest need. They weren't gonna be able to dress it high next year's draft. All right, let's go back to the phones before we go to break. Erica and Jacksonville. What's up? Hi? Hi? You Hey, somebody listen to Mama Gross's challenge and called the show. Thank you Erica? How are you? I am awesome? How about you? We are great? What's on your mind? What do you think about this trade? Oh? I love

the trade. I think the guy is a very great guy. He's from Miami, but we're cal I just want to say I listened to your guyshaw every day and I want to say cop less you all, but it's very hurtful when I hear the things all I say about my son. Missus urns. This is missus hearns. Yeah, hey, missus hens, I am awesome. Good tell us what you're thinking. I'm loving the trade. I mean, I'm loving all the things that eyes are saying. I'm loving Amri Cooper's addition.

I think he's a great will be a great addition. He's definitely another one wide receiver. No one never questioned that. But I just don't like the putting down of my son. Yes, man, we understand that. And my mom has been in that same position, but she she can't call into the show. But I'm glad you called into the show. Man. Yes, but I love your show. I just want to let you know that I'm not asking anybody. I love the show. I listened to you all daily and I love the

things that you all I saying. I love the things to all I doing. So don't take this as being negative, please, I just want to let you all know that you like you say your mom dealt with it. Yes it is, man, I'm not I'm not saying being diff respect for anything. But again, I love what you are doing. Keeps doing it. Put you put your best foot for I love it.

Keep feet of your fans. You are being hurt nationwide. Well, thank you, no, man, and we'd love for you to be a caller every week, absolutely, and just let you know kind of where we're coming from, is we. I think none of us on this show really ever try to. We never attack anybody. We just kind of give opinions and thoughts. And you know, we say it about the coaching staff, we say it about positions, we talk about the team, your your son from you and what the

problem is. Man, it's two things that's getting criticized a lot any specially about me, that staffensive line and the wide receivers. Oh no, no, no, and so no, no, we gotta we gotta address you man, because you are your son does play for us, so you will get special attention. And whether you want it or not, you called it. You know you have to receive it. Oh no, I'm definitely received for anything you saying. Everything that you

are doing. I mean I love it, you know I love it, and you are giving your kids and what you're saying out there. You know, I'm not saying anything more it or dude, like I said, I can't express it a job, so y, I'm looking for whatever you guys. For ever a kill of you guys have I'm open for it. Come in for the games, every game, I travel and everything. Wow, are you ever here on a Friday? You could come join the show? Yes, definitely. I even sawed the organization there. I'm a single mother of Alan

and his brother, and I sawed the organization there. I still living on Jacksonville, Florida, or I sawed the organization here and I branched it to the Dallas area because one of the things we do believe in is giving back. We gotass of what it is we have to give back. Hey, John Douglas, get her, put her on hold, whatever we get done, and get her contact. I'll have you. Yeah,

I think that would be awesome. We really appreciate you. One, we appreciate you listening, and two we really appreciate you coming on the show and voicing your opinion because you know that means a lot. That's what this is about. As everybody's given their opinion, and I'm sure that is

hard when you're a mother, you know. I mean, my mom called me and asked me if I didn't want her to be on the show anymore because somebody tweeted something back to the show that said, you know, we were wasting time, and I was like, look, no, So I totally get it. And I think we sometimes get ourselves lost too, and that we are critical. But man, we want these guys to succeed. We all, like Allen, we want them to do well that you know, you

you don't expect. And that's the thing. That's that's the thing is like I think you know, in a way we're all fans too. Yeah, but part of what this this gig is like, this isn't my real job. So I never claimed to be the no all end all football mind like brought us and Mickey and you know, I you know, and I have to go in the locker room and I have to get these guys to try to do stuff for us that's fun and things like that. So I never try to be like this

guy's bad and this guy's trash, you know. But if you know, we talk about, hey, the old line's not doing so great, the wide receivers aren't doing that, this guy had a bad and I'm and I'm not allowed to this. I'm gonna be a little more critical as Broads may be more critical than me, as Scott I'm gonna be a little more, a little bit more critical than you than you two guys, and so uh, you know, like she said, she ain't calling the bash, and I

understand it. But now since you've calling, I gotta give you special attention, right you know. Well, let's go ahead and take a break so I can. I want to be able to get her information without missing anything. Okay, cool, take a quick break and we'll take some more calls eight five, five, two, two nine seven on hanging with the ball like me and you Love. I mean, if you have a heart thing, then cutting the court's scary.

Thing what I find kind of interesting and thankful, I guess, is that just imagine if this trade had happened, we'd be talking about a horrible season. This is how this

team sucks because they can't beat the Redskins. I can't win on the road. Now we're like, it's exciting. Look what we're gonna do. You know, we gonna here's what here's instead of what happened, Here's what's gonna happened. I don't know what I mean. You think you never know with mister Jones and just think it was this a panic move to go get Amari. Okay, we lost, we're still in the we're still in the hunt. I don't think it's I don't consider a panic move because I

don't see it a move just for this year. I think it's you know, this is a move that's gonna help us in the next you know, a couple of years at least, so we'll see. Hopefully the end result is good. I can't wait to see. I'm excited because what I hope is that this opens everyone else up for more balls. But did you look that stat up? Dak's yeah, Dack in college? Ah, yes, I had that, and then then you okay. I didn't know if he'd be able to find that. His touchdown percentage in college

was six percent of the passes. His interception percentage was two percent his final year six point one percent and one percent. What's his total touchdowns versus interceptions? Seventy touchdowns in college to twenty three interceptions, so he didn't turn the ball over much. What was it again? Now in college? Seventy touchdown passes to twenty three interception. What's what is it in the pros? Do you have that pulled up? I can pull it up call us eight eight eight

eight five five two two nine seven. Still plenty of time to get in in the prosaic. We may only have eight listeners, but we have a lot of quality in that eight. That's right. And then the pros. His touchdown percentage is four point six. His interception percentage is one point eight. I mean total touchdown total touchdowns fifty three to interceptions twenty. He's actually more careful with the ball. It looks like or yeah, I mean a little bit of that is skewed because his first year he had

twenty three touchdowns and four interceptions. Since then he's had thirty and seventeen. You can't you just this is this. This is sad because we don't know who this kid is. After we've seen all the success in the first year and part of last year, and we we don't know who our wide receivers is. We don't know who our quarterback is. We don't lost track of our offensive line. The only thing that we know that's been consistent is our defense. I mean, Zeke is a direct of the

offensive line. If we don't if we don't block, he can't run. That's just the bottom line. Don't cow greet you are you can back. It's adventure just to get back to the offensive line. Last week it was adventure. He got a firsthand dose of what this kid in New York and going through for the last six or seven games. Yeah, I know that, Barkley co Yeah yeah, sorry, I got lost not that. So here you are seven games in and your offense in a major part. It's a big question mark. You know. Can you tell me

who Dak is? M Nope, no, no yet. N see part of that mood to bring this kid in is that giving him the weapons here? Yeah? Same? You know what man, Okay, you didn't have commonis here's your confidence. Yeah. And now they're telling them Mar the same thing. We're gonna get you the ball because you ain't spent a first round pick. You ain't with it. You ain't. That's Christmas in April, bro as that Christmas depth bigger and some people a twenty fifth December Christmas. So you you

you think about it now. Some people live and die on the first round pick of their team. Yeah, the draft, no matter where it's at, especially when it was here last year, we had more people trying to bombard them doors for the for the listen to everybody's first pick, you know, and and and we don't have one this year coming up, not in April, so they're trying to answer a lot of questions. Sorry, brought us in, Dave. No first round pick for you, guys. What are you

looking at? First round picks coming next Monday week from Monday. What's that that first round picks coming a week from Monday, Monday Night football? John and South Carolina? What's up? Man? Hey guys, how y'all doing great? How are you great? Great? Long time? First time? So I just want to say I love the trade. I think that we talk about the pressure that it puts on Dak and everything, but I really think that it's in a dictment and pressure on Jason Garrett, Lana Hands and Sanjay Law. I think

that it's going to be on those guys. Make sure that Amar's in the best position to get up to speed with the terminologies and the route tree and everything, and get him on page with Dak, because I think that's gonna be here for a while because Jerry likes Dak. So, John, are you thinking this is? This is ownership and management going. Okay, you're missing a piece to the puzzle. I'm giving this

to you now. It's on you to make this work. Absolutely, when we think back to the Houston game when he didn't go for it at fourth and one because you say, you know, you may not have the proper weapon there to trust those weapons to make a play for you at that time, and we all heard Jerry's pretty vocal about it. He wanted to go for And then also the situation that happened this past weekend in Washington. I think that now it's like, Okay, now you have all

the pieces together. You got a quarterback, you got to run a game, you got a number one wide receiver. Scott Lenahan, can you design plays for Mari Cooper like how you did when you were in Detroit with Megatron? Not saying that a Mars Megatron, but I'm just saying, I mean, can can you design place where I'm like that and get him in the mix and canna, you know, coach him up and maybe boost up his confidence and you know, because I'm sure that Oakland was a tough

situation one oh, because it's not. It's not like Oakland has been like the most you know, stable appreciate the appreciate the college. John, That's actually a good point. What do you got? What do you think Kurt is this? I think just like the pressure is on Dak, there's more pressure on Garrett and lenahand too, because I mean, like they have another weapon. Now they've got. What are they gonna do with it? They gotta Who's there more pressure on now? Dak or coaching staff? H Well, oh,

he's staring him. He's looking at you like you know. I don't think you could be wrong either. One you say it steps it up for everybody. I think you can be wrong. I think I mean DA's The more immediate pressure might be the coaching staff because they're gone this. You know, they're they're under the gun this year if they don't produce where Dak's got at least another couple of years, you know? Did Oh? They just showed that play where Dad got hit in the face on the sideline.

I thought he was dead. I thought he was gone. Oh that hurt me. That hurt me. All right, any final words guys before we get out of here. Yeah, let's take one quick call Tariq and Philly. Okay, Jeff Douglas, when did you start hosting this show? I just told this guy that I could squeez him out. Okay, what's up? Tarik? How are you? Hey? Hey guys, how are you glad to be on the call? How are you all doing? Thanks for taking for your calling your show ends all

right man, Thank you. No, I just wanted to say I've been a huge fan of the team since I was about seven, living out here in Philadelphia. As tough as that, maybe, I'm sure you can imagine. I think, uh, the trade is a really good trade. I think him being twenty four and already it's two Pro Bowls, I think it's amazing. I think I think we won. We won the trade, especially that the fact that we beat the Philly to the to the trade, I think I think we got a chance to share with this kid.

If you can really focus behind him and you know, give him the training he needs, I think we'll do great. I mean, I think it's a really good trade. To be honest, do you think it number one is too much to give up for him? I thought it was too much, yes, But once I found out Philly offered a number two, I'm like, yes, we offered number one. We took him from Philly. Okay, fair enough, man, Thanks for the call. No, of course he was short too. Hey, take take note Jay and Rhode Island and Anthony and

North Carolina. No, no, no, that's how you do a call. No give you give your point, and you get out. No. Channeling Nate. Nate doesn't have to cut you off for our lawyer fans were the last time I cut somebody off. Man, had you had that one bad day a few weeks ago and then he's been pretty good behavior since then. Anny Jay and Real Anthony call up and give you hell. They will. That's why I'm kind of poking them with a stick. I'm kind of challenging them to call the psychology. Well,

miss Erica, thanks for calling us. And just know, when we talk about players on this show, we're talking about the player, not the person. We love all these guys as people on this show, but you know, we got to talk about what we see on the field. We're not always right, but we got to give an opinion. So but we appreciate you listening to us. We appreciate you giving your feedback as well. Kurt, thanks for showing up. Thank you, Nate, thanks for bringing it as always. Go

take care of those cookies. Douglas, you're way too big of a part of today's show. Two days and we will. I guess we're all Friday, So no show Friday. We're back tomorrow. We'll be back tomorrow. So what do we have tomorrow's look forward to MoMA. Gross, we'll call you tomorrow. What do you want to do tomorrow? Interview? Maybe Blake john Let's see where the show goes. And if we let's just take some more calls. Let's just talk about anything.

Anything that's Tommy Johns commercial. They got ladies in man, Yeah they have ladies. Look at that. Wowfl network, Kurt knows shot. Why are you end the show? Thanks for doing what you do, Presley, thanks for your help with the show. Everybody else that makes this thing possible. We will be back tomorrow, same time. I want hanging with the boys. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
