Before listening, ask good doctor, if your heart is healthy enough for Dallas Cowboys football. He's hanging with the Boys, broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star in Frisco. Now your host Nate Newton, Kurt Daniels, and Shannon Gross. Hump day, hump I'm saying that, don't you. I do like saying that. What's up? Kurt? Doing good? Sir? How are you? Are you one hundred percent? Yet getting closer every day? Do that mean no? I'm pretty close? Ye?
Are you? I shouldn't complain? Are you ever one hundred percent? That's the point? Yeah, Nate, what's happening? Hey, Ma'm I'm ready. I'm crunk man, I'm ready to go. Ready, Douglas, what's up? Yo? Oh? He's paying attention today. I am always good when your producer pays attention to what's going on. I don't know if it's interesting. I do pay attention, which is not often. And when Nati is speaking or kurtis speaking. Thanks you guys get a chance go check out the break This morning.
We had a little fun with It was gonna be fun with ambar And and Dave Hellman, but it turned into just being fun with Dave Hellman. Yeah, Ambar stone Cold there was. Yeah, we played a practical joke on them, and I hid underneath the cabin in this table right here. The crappy part is their show's supposed to start it um nine thirty and they amber ran into traffic and they were running five minutes late. So I wound up laying down in the middle of this desk for about
twenty minutes this morning. Did you go to the trainer for some back massage? And I needed to, so then I put a mask on and I popped up right here in between Derek and Nick and Dave almost fell out of his chair and dropped it almost dropped an If you get a chance, go watch that show this morning. It's actually pretty funny. It looked like that was the mask that Michael J. Fox War and teen Wolf. Yes,
it did go to the Cowboys break Twitter page. I've got a nice yeah, and Kurt, You've got something pulled up. Is it a coincidence that we had Tyrone Crawford on the show last week? Obviously not? And what happened to him this Not only did he get to ride bikes with me yesterday, which, by the way, my lower parts are really really hurting today from riding on that seat, Warrior Tommy, I don't think that would have helped. That had nothing to do with support. It's from me not
having much meat on my bottom side. What you got over there? What happened to Tyrone today? Tyrone? Was? I think actually yesterday he was named the Special Teams Player of the Week, his first career Player of the Week award and the first defensive lineman in Cowboys Treat to win the Special Teams Player of the Week awards. That's pretty impressive. That is, he had the block in that game. I guess that was turned the tide and was enough
to get him the honors. Pretty pretty cool deal. Congratulations Tyrone. It needs to be your selling point when talking to guys to get him on the air. Here. You say, hey, we're yep, we're good luck. We are the good luck charm. By the way, we'll have Jeff Swain will be on with us tomorrow, Jeff Swain, the friend of the show. Yeah, got him a catch this week, so I was like, well, let's go talk about your catch, since that doesn't happen very often. Get him on here? Was that the way
you sold it not exactly. We'll keep that between just us guys. Nate, were you ever named Special Teams Player of the Week in your career? Nah? I man, I have another name special nothing. You know, I got a Snickers endorsement. I bet h well, I eat a lot of those. But anyway, I need to know the Snickers story that Douglas brought up. It's it involves Sean Madden, like leave Green team. Man. They gotta changing the subject, all right, one day, we're gonna put that on the
back burner. Yeah, where do we want to get started today? Nate? You'll talk about a little Cowboys offense? Yeah, look, Cowboys offense? Man. You know as we know. And this is the question I have. You know what of y'all want to take some calls on this? This is what I can't understand
because logic won't won't push it ahead. And for me, you have a guy that seven weeks inactive and McFadden and I said, well, they're keeping him because they want insurance, you know, just in case I'm having to Zeke to come in and be the backup to whoever was second to Zeke right now. But I just can't believe that McFadden just comes in and start a lot of people think he's coming in and starting, and he has had no reps, live reps this year, and he's just gonna
automatically go ahead of Smith and Maris. I mean, so, now before we get started versus Kansas City Defense, how do y'all think about it? Give me y'all thoughts on that. I'm with you, man. Everything that we saw in training camp points one way, and then everything after the season started points a completely opposite way. And I don't I don't you know it. We saw it took Ze two or three weeks to get in a get in a rhythm,
and he you know, hell, he's number one guy. And then now you got this guy that's been sitting on the bench. Um, I'd be interested to see what happened in practice today who was taking reps with the number ones? And see if you can find that on one of our writers twitters there. I know Smith got some reps at number one? Did he today? Yeah? So, but a Kurt, I would like to hear your theory. Well, best guess.
I mean, I think they're I don't know if he'll be the starter, but I think they're going to use him a lot, And Garrett said in his press car today, they're gonna they're gonna you basically said, they're gonna have a running back by committee. They're gonna all get carries and they're all gonna share the load. Now, I think once somebody maybe gets hot and they figure out who's
doing well though, they'll kind of ride that guy. But I don't think fans gonna play How can you give him equal reps when he has it taken He hasn't even been active, but he's he's been in the league a long time. He knows what's what's what to do. But why not have him in there instead of Rod Smith? If that's the case, if you trust him enough to come in and special teams, special teams. I think Rod does special teams. And I think um Morris has been a good change up back. I don't know, can can
he carry the load? Ken Morris carry the ball twenty I think McFadden has been kept as insurance against injury. Well, no doubt, no doubt, But I mean I think, yeah, I think Morris is going to be the guy. There's no doubt there. But but how can you if you expect him to come right in and be get split carries. Now, I don't think that'll happen if you're split and carry as you you go from zero to reps to fifteen twenty carries a game maybe seven, eight, ten, That's what
I'm thinking. It's a minimal role. At least get Mars get fifteen yeah, ten, Smith gets another because I believe, yeah, until if one of these guys break off something earlier, makes somethinghow early? Uh, that warrants that. Okay, man, we better, we better feed this guy and see where it's going. It's just things Dak, These things about Dak right about now? Yeah? You know, do you think? Yeah? You tell me that Morris and mcfaddener have different styles of running. Is the
blocking different? Is it set up different? No? No, isn't Morris pretty comfortable with the blocking scheme. I thought that was one of the reasons they liked him when they brought him in originally, like last year, he was a better fit for how they do things. I just said, we like here, I got a block, h block. I mean it ain't know, it ain't. I can't get fancy with blocking. You get fansy with blocking. Now you got people getting hit in the backfield, get people getting through
on the back its quarterback. I have to block high blocking, we have to block all in concert, you know, all everybody got to be in the same wave. So yeah, I didn't know if because if Morris maybe a little shift here, they may call a little different plays, may call different plays that fits a certain running back a certain way. But just trying to change up how you do things. You can't do that, you know, no matter who's in there. Year. Yeah, yeah, well, I mean McFadden was.
He was an older back when he played, you know, two seasons ago, and say that now he's two years older. He was getting caught from behind too. I know he got a thousand yards, but to me, it was one of the least impressive thousand and yards I've ever seen he you know, I think Morris just has he's younger, he's got more of his original stuff, and McFadden's just insurance. I mean, he'll get rotated in. And I think I said the other day he led the NFC and yards.
I think he was like fourth or something. I'm misspoke two years ago. McFadden, Yeah, he was fourth in the NFL. I think, Yeah, it was Statistically it seemed good. But I mean, you know we can we can ride all day on two years ago. Just thanks for happen Sunday Sunday. Yeah, it's gonna happened sun and so you can ride off into the sunset. You know, you know what you're talking about right about now? Man is uh you know old Western movie we see it got ride off into the sunset.
It's been never to be seen again. What's kind of got to play Sunday. McFadden got to play Sunday, So we'll find out what he got. Yeah, it's gonna be if anything, it's gonna be in interesting I think to see how this plays out the next for three to four weeks. You know. Grett was real adamant in his press conference today about it's you don't change anything. It's just like if a guy was injured. With Zeke being out, it's just the next man up. You control what He's
repeated it over and over again. You control what you can control, and you just he said, they didn't really even address it with the team about Zeke being out and how they're gonna do difference. They just he said, everybody knows, do your job. Do your job. He said that several times too. Everybody knows they got a job to do, they gotta do it. And Nate, you talked about this when we were in camp, when we didn't know if Zeke was gonna play at the beginning of
the season. You seem to think there's gonna be You're gonna it will be a noticeable difference. Well, the difference is, like we all talked about going to the house, you know, taking the thing six to seventy eighty yards like he did a seventy two yards pass play. That's that's that's what you that's what you know, that's what you feel. Yeah, you know he's a better inside runner than than uh, than both these guys, all three these guys, you know,
third and one we don't fear it. You know, fourth and one or fourth and a half, we don't fear it. You know. We know Zeke, if he getting the ball, it's better, you know, better than Setner cent chance that it's gonna be a first down. So head Yeah, so Zeke, Zeke just different. You know. Now, who's to say all three guys don't give us an equal to Zeke because they all bring something three different to the table. But uh, because you know, we ain't seen it. We ain't seen it.
Can Rod Smith get out and opening field and see what he can do? See he is, he got some burst to it, you know, so Zeke and Zeke though, that's when you took him in the fourth the fourth pick, you know, in the first round, because you felt that he had that ability. Tune in Sunday three thirty on CBS, speaking of guess who comes back to AT and T Stadium for the first time. Tony Romo. We'll be back calling the game on Sunday. We think about that, Nate.
That's a nice thing, man, That's a great thing to have. And if one of your own come back in and and if you're at the at the game, you'll be able to see. I think they've got a something special plan for mister Romo. I think we'll probably put some of that out on social media in case you're not at the game. So he was looking forward to you know, they do pregame meetings and all that kind of stuff. He'll be in here what Friday, Yeah, yeah, so he was.
Jarrett said he was looking forward to it. That'll be interesting him him actually on the other side of the table interviewing players and coaches and things like that, and then it's also our what military appreciation game this week? Kurt, Yes, it is. I think they got some cool stuff around that for end game as well, so that should be fun. So what do you think the offensive chances are moving this ball? From what you've seen the last few weeks.
From easily you can sit. He gives up hundred and uh one hundred and thirty one yards on the ground on the ground and passing, they give up two hundred and six two. Where they beat beat you the baddest the words ask for the cuss. But where they beat you at its turnovers and sacks. They have eighteen sacks as a team total. You gotta be weary of Justin Houston. He's got seven point five. I thought he had more than that going to get it because I think he
had six in the game. So I don't know if the game two sacks and not in the game against against Denver and they got eight turnovers for uh interceptions. I don't know how many fumbles they recover, but it's five. Yeah, So they they get turnovers, they get sacks and that and that because they give up thirty nine point six on downs. So it's like they'll give up yardist, but they keep you out of the end zone. There's twenty two point five. They ranked them the nineteenth in the league.
They ain't letting you in that end zone. But so many times, you know, with six points. So here we go, I mean we can can can we keep up? Can we score with we will? We let it come down to us with the ball or then with the ball last drive of the field goal. I hope not. I hope we can outscore. Yeah. He mentioned that the defenses got a lot of speed to it. You see that. Oh yeah, oh yeah, they can run now. They broke out a couple of times and winning got Denver guys.
I mean, they'll get to the ball, but it's just that an issue point of attack. It seemed like they'll give it up, you know, but they got the speed to go get your running, get you they got. They got a good cover corner and Peterson Marcus Peterson, he uh, you're good good cover corner. He plays on our right side. He wants shadow Daz. He'll stick to his son. He'll stick this side. Yeah, they say they can scheme their defense better by just letting him stay at one side.
Here's one thing that for those of you playing along at home, when we break these matchups down, listen to the names that Nate says out loud, because Nate's not gonna get into a lot of the x's and o's and stuff, but he's gonna drop these names. And I have noticed every game this year, when we talk about a guy on the show, Yeah, whether it's offense or defense on the other team, that guy is right in the middle of everything or makes a key playing the game.
So when Nate drops the names, put them in your little notes in your phone or make a little mental note to write them down or whatever, and watch. It's almost like Nate is telling you, Yeah, this dude is gonna make something happen in the game. Yeah if we if we're only losing it, and definitely these guys will make sense. But a lot of stuff, you know. One thing about me is I'm the type of guy and you've guys heard me say this a lot. I believe
that information. As long as you over aliable source. I can go to Kirk call him a certain thing. I go to you for certain things. I go to Broadest for certain things. And Darren Johnson is another one of my sources. We do a show every Wednesday morning, you know, prep for a shot and tape a show every Wednesday morning. And he see things and he talked to people, you know, and you can't a lot of things I give him. I can't go in depth, but he said, man, watch
this guy. Yeah, and so I'll be like, okay, cool and so reliable sources. Man, I you know, I don't like to just hollow out something and don't don't get the people what they need. But Chris Jones is another guy. Loved people. In the end, he got three sacks. These guys that can make a different The reason I say, Marcus Peter, excuse it, not market people, but Houston is he plays over the right tackle. I right tackles. Yeah, our right tackle struggle last week. So here we go.
We cannot where where where this team is good is last week we would have been in trouble because the penalties they would have took advantage of us early in the game. But the penalties they would took advantage of that they would they would have been Houston and all of these guys would have been pressing us. So we can't go out and have that type of game this week.
We can't go out and have the holdings. We can't go out and have the false starts, and definitely we can't turn the ball over because that's where they feast when you turn the ball over. That you gotta face one of the fastest offenses in the game. And then we'll talk about their offense. Mar But they got one of the fastest offenses in the game, So you don't want them put our young secondary in our D line. Our D line in that position. Our D line is
a bunch of pass rushers. They ain't stopping to run the way they need to stop and run. They've been able to do it against these last two opponents because they just couldn't run the ball. So they've got to getting their into their offense tomorrow. But they've got a fast offense. They can score quick. The best way to keep their offense off the field. Do what we did against our offense to control the ball, run the ball, make the game ugly seven and score seven instead of
kickfield goal. Yeah you can't you come up with three or four field goals this week? Yeah? Yeah. These guys average twenty nine points a game, you know, So you look at see what we averaging, Kurt, I know they average a twenty nine point five of a game. Yeah, well, to give me a second and find that. So can we do that offensively with our starting running back, our
stud out of the game? I guess is going to wind up being the question is if three guys can the three headed monster can can be just as as good as Zeke was by himself. We're scoring twenty eight a game, yeah, twenty eight a game, yeah, twenty eight point three to be exact, So that that may make us, well, that makes them third in the game. I may make us four for fifty game. Yeah yeah, I mean, well, am I gotta compute. I'm downloading like you wouldn't believe it,
ain't you. I lost half my brain sales right here, man, trying to figure all this stuff out. Man. Yeah, but uh, one thing we can't do this game, Kurt and I want to is we cannot turn the ball over. We can't give them a sudden change play. Team takeaways this year, which is type of sixth in the league. Wow, there how many fumbles? That is five five fumbers, eight eight I and T s along with eighteen sacks and they're plus ten and differential yeah, given the ball up three times.
So yeah, and absolutely against Denver. One in the first very first game by the running back hunt and then two this pass game where you know the quarterback gave up one and uh, something else happened. Brother. The two teams we just played, we won, and we should have won. Now, whether it was about one hundred points to five points at one point, we should have won these nasts two games. This here, this is where Mike Nusia may come into play. It's where he's got to be good. Because these guys
I think can score. But now Bard, if we get, if they get the league, I know we can come back on them. Because you saw Denver was down twenty twenty three to three all of a sudden it was nineteen to twenty something. So they'll let you, they're shoot you out of the game and they'll let you come right back in the game. And you know the Cowboys, so we we we won't be out of this thing into into the to the to the fat Lady side, tuning up, tuning up. Huh Yeah, here's here's an interesting
stat for the Cowboys. Uh. They're tied for the league lead with nine touchdowns and ranked second in the NFL with an average of one hundred and fifty point six yards per game and fifty seven rushing first downs. So can they keep that going? Is that offensive line or is that all zeke? I guess we're gonna find out. They still gotta be the offensive line. I think that's what they're gonna rely on. Everything is built around that.
Every everything is predicated and built around that. You know, to the point where everybody forgets that you still really have to play defense and you still have to play special teams. Now that's where we we can. We can we can cancel out their defense. They may and counsel at our offense. We can slow down their offense. But where we where we should be able to take this game is we should be able to take it even though they got Treik Hill as their part returner. We
should be win win the special teams. That's because I think we just got more and more minim at that point right now where we believe that we can make a block or we can tackle somebody hard enough to get in to the jar the ball loose. So our special teams should become something real, real special, Yeah, Kurt, Yes, sir,
Or we go to break the Zeke stuff. He filed an appeal last night, right yeah, right, yeah there there filed today, yeah today, So well they filed it with that same judge yesterday and she of course shot it back down. Then it went to the second and went to the second, but he suspended until Yes he's out in that case, right, he's out. So he is out, all right? I mean they yeah, they could. I mean they've asked asked them to expedite it and make it do it quick, and I mean he could sit somenday
and then come back. I mean, it's crazy, but it looks like it's you know, he's out, just like when he was here and we knew he was here. I rolled with it until he's gone. Now that's that's you know the fans. Can you know I played roller coast and win his roller coasts. I don't play roller coast and win. It ain't now, bro, Well, let's take a let's take a break. We didn't get to a whole lot of calls yesterday because we had so much going on, so we'll we'll take a few today. Let us know
what you think about the Zeke situation. Let us know what you think about this game. I had somebody aim us as a faithful listener, and he compared this game to the Seattle game. What was that three years ago when we went up there and no one gave us a chance. I don't feel that way this week. I feel like this is a game that you've got a you should win this game at home. To me, it's you know you're at home. I think you should win.
I don't think it's doom and gloom. And then the exciting thing for me about this is, I think you want two in a row. You beat two teams you should have beat. You're at home, you're playing a really good team. And then after this game, you're gonna know what this team's about. I think you're gonna this is gonna be a measuring stick. Whoa Nate, what's that? Look? Yeah? When y'all call and I we ain't wasting a lot of time, So Nate's gonna cut y'all get your statement.
Have you a question? I want you to call, and I Nate love you to call, but this information day I'm giving I take calls two one eight seven, two twenty one oh two. It should be on the screen as well. Yeah, before and after the event. Oh man, I had something that I was gonna bring up, and I forgot completely forgot what it was.
So since I can't remember, maybe i'll remember in a minute, We're gonna go to the phone. Chris and san Antonio. What's up, Chris? What's going on for us? Hew? Y'all doing great? Man? Thank you for asking. Hey, I wonder if they have a pub crawled half marathon that I can sign up for when I'm up there for the traft. How awesome would that be? Run a mile the next day, but run a mile Duckian have one run another mile. I'd be pretty cool. I'm gonna work on that place.
You hit up Christie's for that one, Yes, sir, Yes, sir, let's do it. Hey, So, I got a question on this scheme that we're running with banking on Zeke being suspended. I know that Alfred Morris ran it pretty well two years ago, a couple of years ago, but I know he's more of an inside his zone runner and the scheme kind of fits more to what Alfred Morris can do. But what do y'all see with Rod Smith? Is he a guy that's gonna get a little bit more carries
than a guy like macfadden. They're gonna be the kind of guy that he's gonna they're gonna go to as a bell cow or what do y'all think on that, and I'll take elf comments off there and Shannon, I'll see you when I'm up there for the draft. Yes, sir, let's do it. Uh brother brother, I'm hoping. You know. I like Mars, that's my homeboy in Florida, but I
want to see what Rod Smith can do. You know, you know I was talking to one uh compadres h Miss Taylor, Yeah, stop her, Taylor, Miss Taylor Stern, and she was like, what do you think rod Smell? I want to see him. I really want to see him. And I know that the way the Chiefs stripped the ball at thirteen takeaways, you may not feel as comfortable with him starting out, so you go with Mars to him going in, softening him up a little bit. He's that kid on in there, man, give it to him.
I'm excited to see him. Man. Because there was one play against Arizona that they handed off. He was late in the game, but they handed it off and he acted like he was going outside and then he cut in and he's a big guy. Yeah, there was not much room and he dipped one shoulder, slid in a crack, got through it, popped around and then took off and I was like, Okay, he's a little shiftier than I thought he was. And him being that big, I'm excited to see what he can do. I'd love to see
him get ten twelve fifteen carries this weekend. Will he be limited because he's a special team's guy. I mean, that's that's the issue, is what what what are they willing to Are they comfortable and trust them enough? And if so, how many reps? Because if he if he becomes the the hot hand is everybody want a holiday these days? That's a new you know, good word around her hot hand. Really, he speak somebody in this run
and run this rock. You know what I'm saying. But uh hey, I would like to see more of them. This just bottom line for me. Yeah, and I have a feeling we will on Sunday. Yeah call us two one four eight seven two twenty one h two. I remember,
I remember what I was gonna say. So a lot of times I'll go back and listen to the show on my way home because I don't like listening to the radio, and I don't want to other sports people because I know they don't know a lot of them don't know what the hell they're talking about because they're not out here. Um. So I was listened to the show and I had to stop and get gas. Last night.
I was up here kind of late because went to the gym, left late and getting gas and I had my door open, and you know, turn to have the podcast going on my speakers, and I hear I hear this voice, goes Shannon, what you're listening to? I turn around. It's brought us and I'm like, my show. It's like, man, I got He's like, I thought I heard your voice, and it's like, you know what, I do that all the time. Was embarrassed. He's like, I do that all the time. I go back and listen to he said,
especially at the Draft show. He'll go back and listen. So hey, every week I I burn three CDs of the play by play broadcast for Brad because he self critiques. Every week he re listens to the broadcast to hear how he did. I asked him what that cherry was and he told me to go look it up. I'm like, I'm not looking it up. I'm coming to the source.
Tell me what it is. You could have looked it up with it that you went to him to ask because you didn't want to write look it up and he told me it was indeed a those candy cherries that are on top of the whatever, not the natural ones, but the real red ones with the syrup on him that you find in the middle of chocolates. Yeah, yeah, those are good. What up? How is how is that gonna handle this defense? Because I got some speedy guys in the secondary. What's his what's his game playing going in?
Just what he normally is because he protects the ball real well, he's not gonna try to force nothing in now, he's gonna try to what what I think can hurt this team if you can get some some early quick passes, you know, let and let guys run from that point. You know, this is a game where our lion Dez on that left side and get him that ball quick. And I think accres Is is uh one of the corners,
young guy. I would see what he obviously, what he meant, obviously, what he made of you know, really really would it? Just you gotta you gotta play hard against his team. You gotta make the most out of every run. And I could be wrong, he could be actress could be on another team for Denver and that I'm holling about. But uh, these guys can these guys can found out play man kind of guy has seen him a lot
of years when he was at the Eagles. But Benny Logans now with the Chiefs, it's much to worry about anyside. He looks good, but he's a part of that giving up one hundred and thirty one yards a game. He's still you know, I tell people it's a different play next to flesh of Cox. Yeah, maybe his favorite player. Yeah, when you play next Cox and you you you can get away with a lot. You know what, Kurt, Yes, sir, what do you what matchups are you looking for this week?
What are you looking at? Well? I mean Davis one is the running game. But I think that I do want to see I've said all the time, but can Bryant bring a little bit more? Is he gonna have trouble with Peters? Are they gonna put him on the on the other side the left? You said he plays on the right, they set him up on the left and try to work him on that on the younger guy. Sure would like to see a little more out of him, you know, And I don't know if that's necessarily his fault.
He played well this last game. Obviously the weather kind of limited things. But do you we talked about Dez a little bit and I think he's good in the role that he's in. But do you think they should make more of an emphasis on getting him the ball more or more plays? I don't know. I mean they doing what they're doing, and it's good enough to win, and so they keep doing it or that. Yeah, I don't want him to force it, right, I don't either. Well, but he's a weapon. Well, you gotta keep using him,
you know, you gotta keep using them. How you using him? I mean, yeah, what four or five cases this past game? Or I think you just gotta keep using them? How you using him? And so that's Uh. I tell people, if you have stood and you and you still got it, it'll break. You got ten more games? Uh, you know you got nine more games, right, your nine more games? If you stood, it'll break. Yeah, what's there? I think Witton can do much with the their Their safeties were
worth worrying about. Stewart is one of the guys. I think Parker was Rob Parker, Yeah, Daniel Sore and Daniel Sarsu, not Steward. Stewards with Denver. When you're watching all these games, man, you know you think of the Cowboys playing Denver, it all runs together. But they got the good safeties. Man. Uh, where they're good at it's takeaways where they're good at his interceptions. But you can also beat them. That's the
tricky thing about. And we was talking off hour, I said, uh, the year the Marcael Murray was here and we had that twelve and four year I think it was, and our defense uh just was a turnover machine, right. You know, you knew that soon that it was gonna break because they weren't gonna hold up. This is this team. They can they can sack you, they can take they can strip the ball out, but they're gonna give up some yardage.
They give up three hundred and ninety two yards a game that's ranked thirty I the third downs, the thirty nine point six the center the time giving it up. So it's an interesting matchup for but they only give up twenty two point five, just like them Cowboys did back in that year. I think they gave about twenty one twenty two. Once a game is a little bit like this year's Cowboys too. Maybe no, no, this your
Cowboys ain't that good yet. If this is just if this year cowboys they got the sacks, but they don't and they just not started to create the turnovers. You know. Uh, they've been doing this all year. They've been who they are all year. So far our cowboys are just starting to get there. And we don't know if our cowboys can hold down a run. But now what we're only giving up what twenty three points a game? Yeah, twenty three point five points a game, and that's still key.
I think what's interesting about this game, even from the Chiefs perspective, is they started out of the gate really hot, lost two in a row, and then fault a hard one night with night with Denver that just now made a quarterback change. So they're not that great. Cowboys started off really sluggish and slow. Looks like they started putting
it together. Fought a real tough game with a great Packers you know Packers team one two in a row now at that time, right before the quarterback went down, one two in a row now, So this is kind of a game to me that that kind of lets you know, you know, what's what you know you don't really know what the chiefs are. They started out one way, they kind of faltered. Looks like they might be getting it back together. Cow Boys faltered out of the gate.
Looks like they're starting to get it together. So I think it's from a fan perspective, it's going to be a really, really good game. What do we say they they scored twenty eight a game, and we scored twenty seven, and they're giving up twenty two and a half a game. We're giving up twenty three, So and so pretty evenly at man be interesting? Yep, give us a call two one four eight seven two twenty one. Yeah, we will talk about whatever you guys want to talk about. Accept
the World Series because you Darvis pitching. Oh hey, did y'all watch that game last night? I do, Nah, but I'd say they say you the open ones, you won't get get get full ends in real shame. Man. I got high hope for you tonight. What I think y'all be the one of y'all watching the game tonight? What game is that? World Series? Definitely does that mean knows that because it's not football. You know what's been fun for me this year watching football? Playing this first place schedule.
Almost every team we play, they've either played on Thursday night or Monday night. So I actually get to watch our opponent. Yeah yeah, either they play Sunday night, you know, and you get to see you see us played, and you get to see, right because I never, especially traveling away games, I never get to see around the league play. And this year almost every thirday. Have you ever seen the Cowboys play? Since you check Jeremiah's job, No, And I didn't do a very good job this weekend in
that rain either, man, that rains. You got the camera equipment out there and everything. Oh yeah, I didn't get you know what. I did get a really good picture of the field goal block. But that's about all I did. James kicked my butt. James our other team photography. He destroyed me this week. You shouldn't compare yourself to him. Well, hey, if you want to get better, man, you got to compare it to be the champ. You gotta beat the champ, so you gotta aim high. But yeah, but we're talking
about somebody and a baby buggy looking at Usain Bolt. Wow, I just I just spit on Nate, I laughed. I don't worry about. I'm just saying, wow wow, he called you a baby buggy man. I mean it as a compliment to James M wow yeah. And then and a knock on out boy, man, Hey, you shut his mic off. Let's go through. Uh have a call. Okay, we'n go through these power rankings real quick. And then no, man, let's go through. Okay, get your power rankings, have not my power rankings. Who we got Doug is Eric in
North Carolina. Eric with a sea in North Carolina. What's for lunch? Doesn't have an eight to day? Y'all have eight? Yes to eat? Man, I'll get me a smooth or something in a minute. Man, you gotta get some food. Yeah, man, my mistakes. We have a birthday dinner for my cousin tonight and uh so we're gonna we're gonna go out to eat tonight. I got your play Smokey Bones on the same appetite. Hey, I'm gonna help you out today.
Don't let Nate cut you off. So make this short and sweet and don't make it real on you again, y'all. To make a quick comment, man, I actually watched the game Monday night, and there's holes in that defense man. So I honestly don't think we'll have a problem running the ball. I don't think we'll have a problem moving the ball at all. Also, although and do scaring a little uh you know, fat stopping them offensively, but I don't think we'll have an issue. Eric, let me ask
you a question while we got you on the phone. Yeah, how do you feel about Zeke not playing? Are you worried about this three headed monsters they're about to throw out there on Sunday. I think it'll work for us because one one key factor is that I don't think teams will be scared about easy one that our running back to them, So they're not gonna load the box of they're not. I don't see them putting eight nine people in the box that they're gonna try to play
a square up. That's gonna create some opportunities. Man, we all see what after Mors can do. You give them a good clean hole. We've seen what Ron Smiths can do down feel so I don't think we'll miss a beat man. I think we should slowly work like that in the end. But let those two guys get the carriage right now, and I think we'll be fine. Man, I really do. For some reason, I think you do well. I'm gonna cut you off now, be so Nate doesn't
get you. Thanks Eric, we'll talk to you Friday, all right, Nate. Yeah, they don't put nobody in the box. I mean, I was gonna say if that's the case, but to see, I understand what he's saying is early in the game. If then I'm putting abody in the box, we gotta break, we gotta make, we gotta take advantage of it. If you don't take advantage of it, and then all of a sudden they got the extra safety back. Then, Now,
who who you gonna pass to? As bad as their run defense seems to be, though, wouldn't they wouldn't they load up the box a little bit there, Nah, because they're banking you can't get it in the red zone. They're banking that they can get three. They're banking that you may get a cup of touchdowns up that you feel going in the rest of the way. They're banking
on that. I'd like to give a shout out to a special listener today that just sent me a text and let me know that Douglas roasted me while ago. Oh Derek Eagleton's listening to the show. Oh, everybody's shape up. Thanks for the thanks for the encouraging. I helped you out this morning too. Who has played your game? Who is Derek Eason? Some guy likes to push people around, you know, because some listeners, Man, we don't need to be listening to some guys man with in house punchlines
and stuff like that. Like you got Bubba who ain't showed up this week. Who's supposed to be doing this. Derek knows how much grief Shannon gives me. What was that, Bubba? Bubba tips working on it. He came to me with a couple of ideas and I said, hey, you shot him back to I shot him down. I said, go back to the drawing board. Developed u out a little more. He's still working on it though, I think come through for us. But yeah, man, Derek's out balls, y'all. That's
who he is. Everybody, if listen, if you listen to this show, you were the most hardcore of hardcore fans, and you listened to the break and talking cout, there's no way that you missed those two shows and only listen to this show. If you do, if you do you a good person? God love you yea and bless your heart. And Derek helped you out this morning and played your game, sat under this table for twenty five minutes, bawled up like a little child in a womb. I'm
just making sure you don't screw up again. Screw what I do. Sure there was something. Sure at some point you've screwed something up. All right, call us two one, eight seven, two, twenty one or two. We were gonna take our last break. I'm gonna run upstairs and deal with Derek inower rank in this minute. In the half and rack we will go over some power ranking. We hit fired power rank. join us in studio talking long horns. We could do that talk whatever, because it's not gonna take us long to talk about his one catch in the game on I love the man. It's great. He's one of the best guests we've ever had on this show. I'm gonna run through the power rank he's real quick because I know we have an injury update we're going to get to and when we do, I know Nate's gonna go off about who's hurt and clapping and all that. So let's run through these power rankies real quick. Oh. NFL
dot Com has the Cowboys at twelve. They had him at twelve the week before. Say all eyes are on Ezekiel Elliott. Right now it appears to six games. Suspension is back on, though there's still a chance another appeal could get him back on the field. With everything up in the air, we'll leave the Cowboys right where they were last week, at least for now, Elliott. Elliott just carry the Boys to a road win and a difficult element Sunday with one hundred fifty yards to touchdowns on
the ground. While you never want to discount a division win, Dallas received much help from a sloppy Washington squad that seemed all too willing to give the Cowboys opportunities. A real encouraging sign for Dallas the pass rush, which has picked up the pace in recent weeks. With so many young players in the secondary, the importance of Rod Marion Ellis rushers can't be underestimated. Let's see here. Guess who they have at first? Who at Eagles? ESPN has Cowboys
at seventh down five. I don't know why they had them ranked at two last week. Ezekiel Elliott has rushed eighty eight times for a four hundred and thirteen yards and four touchdowns the past three games, a scary big workload. The Cowboys are riding Elliott, but the prospect of him missing time has to be worrisome. Guess who they have at number one O the Eagles and CBS dot Com
has the Cowboys at eleven up one. They've won two straight, both on the road to get back on track, but now comes word that star runner Ezekiel Elliott is likely gone for the next six games, pinning an appeal of his suspension. Guess who they have at number one O the Eagles unanimous Eagles, yuck. Let's go to the phones real quick before we go to this injury report. Nate in Washington, did you you got bragging rights all week? A little bit? Yes? All right? Man? Take advantage of that.
What's going on? Yeah, well Seahawks put up a good game too, didn't he They did? Yeah, he's in Washington State. Oh okay. My one worry is Anthony Brown on the outside the tyree killing those receivers Kansas City. That's a scary matchup. He hasn't been playing his best ball. But if he pee in the backfield on this and he'll never look back again, it'd be squatched it. Even in that Washington game to look like he was giving up a lot of space, but our pass rush was just
too much for him. Yeah, I agree with your problem. That's a good point. Thanks for calling, Nate, Thanks Nate, What do you think about that? He just gotta learn, man, You got to learn and he gotta you know, he got to play the man. He's good enough and fast enough, ain't big enough to do it. So now it's about will the will want to repeatedly, regardless of whether you board or whatever. Distractions. What can you do, Nate? A young guy in a secondary that's having some some problems.
You got the talent, you got the speed, but you're you're you know, you're turning your head too quick. What are some do you stay late after practice, Do you watch more film? Do you talk to guy like what do you do? You just gotta be your main focus, man. I mean each guy is different, and some guys just film work get some better. Some guys, uh the reps out on the field, you know, of doing it over and over and over to it becomes natural. You know,
some guys just game players are getting the game. They just played lights out. You'd be like, man, this ain't saying guy to practice. Dak was like that last year. So you know you're getting the you know, you get in the game and it's just it's just the lights come. So I guess it's kind of the equivalent of any other job. Like I'm a very I'm not a real visual learner. I have to do I have to do it. Let me do it, and then I learn it. If you're telling me and I'm just watching, I don't learn
as fast. So I guess it kind of translates like that in football as well. Right, Yeah, yeah, Kurt, you got some injury news over there or updates. Yeah, well it's not the official report isn't out yet, but we know from the Chiefs that starting outside linebacker d Ford did not practice today, just thought, how do we find this information? This was on the Twitter and they're one of their reporters, one of the Chiefs reporters on Twitter. Ford is having test on on his back, so he
may be questionable for this Sunday's game. And then Albert Wilson, who's one of their wide receivers, he's got a hamstring strain, so it's looking maybe doubtful he'll be back around. And then for us, obviously, Dan Bailey, where you getting this info from? This is from our own David Hellman. David Hellman, Yeah, Dan Bailey obviously going to be out for a while. Zeke Elliott obviously he's not around. I guess he wouldn't be on the report. He's not here. Tyrn Smith he
was out. I'm assuming he was just managing his back. It's probably going to be a frequent thing throughout the rest of the season. Cole Beasley is still in the concussion protocol. He did not work out today. He's been going, he's been in meetings, he's been kind of going through everything else. Garrett said today he's not showing any symptoms, so he's on the right track. But as part of that protocol, he could not practice today, so pulling out
a signature sauce and then pouring it on his hands. Okay, and then chadobe ooozier looks closer. But he was out there today. But Garrett said of him he was going to be limited. So limited, there we are, and let him, let him him and Zeke hang out, let him get full healthy. Yeah, fully healthy. Yeah, that getting man, We don't need any more that. I got a stat here for you. That surprised me a little bit. We love stats, that guy. Yeah. Yeah. Strength of schedule that we've had
so far. According to Pro Football Focus, the Cowboys have had the thirtieth ranked strength of schedule. That's not good when you're only four and three. Yeah, that's kind of kind of kept what came to mind to me as well as they've had a According to them, they've had a pretty easy time of it so far and maybe haven't taken advantage like they should. The remaining schedule is ranked thirteenth, so when to get tougher, for sure, that's
not it should go better than the power rankings. The Eagles, though, their strength of schedules thirty first so far, but they're and their twenty first. The rest of the way are what are the chiefs? Chiefs? They've had the fourteenth strength of schedule so far and the remaining strength is twenty sixth. Who's got the toughest in the league? The toughest. I gotta scroll through here, Douglas. And if you want to vamp a minute, the Carolina Plant Panthers have the top
one for the rest of the way. Um let me seeking fun. Chicago Bears have actually had the toughest one to date. Wow, three and five? Three and five, man, Nate, did you know anyone did you or any of your co workers ever have back problems on that offensive line? How bad does that mess with you? That message? You bad? Chass Hainly had it? Man? Yes it man? You just is that one of those injuries that like it, you'd affects your whole body? And does it ever get better
on its own? Or do you have to have surgery on it? Spends on what what? What is it? A sprain, a strain, or something is nerves or something is structurally wrong. It's just so many different ways you're back and go out of whack, and all of them can cripple you either short term along I mean a strain back can do the same thing as a something. If you break something back there, or if you damage a nerve, or if you are having mustard spouse, it always just throws
your body out of whack. Yeah, I mean it messes you up. How did they treat it? For Charles just get letting rest when they could, and letting rest when he could, and shot them things in them needles in his back. And everybody a little bit different, you know, depending on what it is. You know. But all of those strain, the sprain, the structural damage, all of that would knock you on your off your feet, all of it. It's not like you can rehabit a lot. Kenny, just
gotta just gotta rest that. You gotta rest that because a back, I mean, just picking up soap can be you know, trying to bend down or bend down. The worst one is when you get down, you're back. I'll let you get down, but ain't know where you And they say picking up soap is risky in many situations. I wouldn't know up. Douglas just went into the gutter again. Good God swerved off. Wow, let's go back to the phone.
Maybe Max and Indy can save the day. You're gonna end us on a good note or you're gonna keep us in the gutter like like uh, Douglas, Hey, I'm a pastor. I'm gonna pull you out here. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, pastor. Max. What's going on, man, Hey, not much. I have not listened since Sunday. So a quick observation and question about Shawn Lee. It seemed like every time we got gassed on the run Seawan was not in and some of those were first downs and
so he was not on the injury port. You guys just spoke about what's what's he looking like moving forward? Because it is noticeable, noticeable when he's not on the field. Great question. Thanks for calling Max, Nate. He's he's the man. He gets everybody lined up. You know, he may he's a difference maker, especially if if i'd even a line is playing just a if i'd even the line is just playing adequate, he makes good plays if they're playing great,
he's outstanding. Yeah, and Kurt, you mentioned these last two wins first time that him Hitchens, Hitchens and Herving at the same time. It makes a big I need to go back and look it up. Since the pass games, but the difference in yards per carry giving up was big between him being in there and him not. I mean, it's it's kind of remarkable. He's banging up like every guy.
He's got some bang ups. He was fighting. He got hitting the quad I think against forty nine ers, which kind of slowed him up a little bit for that. But he he was out there today practicing. It's going to take a lot to get him off the field. He'll be out there. Yeah, Well, fellas, our time on Wednesday has come to an end. Hey, Nate's got a good shirt on today. By the way, I just put the camera on him. Ye, NYPD shirt. Good day for that shirt. That is a good day for that shirt. Kurt,
Thanks for showing up, sir. Fromorrow. Tune Jeff Swain. UT's on Jeff Swain. You're gonna come with some Texas questions tomorrow, Nate, Yeah, man, can you do that for us? Yeah, you're gonna ask about his lady friend. You're tuned in. Hey, his lady friend and his mom and dad are fans of the show. We made a training camp. Yeah, thanks for bringing it dad, Doug. While you was back here doing whatever you did, we was out trying to build up a following. Okay, I
know you did, Douglas. Thanks for interjecting so much intoday's show and contributing. I appreciate that really, Derek, thanks for listening to the show. Kent, thanks for pushing all the buttons and kissing up to Derek. We will be back tomorrow, same time, same BAT channel. Hanging with the Boys.
