Before listening, ask good doctor, if your heart is healthy enough for Dallas Cowboys football. He's hanging with the Boys, broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star in Frisco. Now your host Nate Newton, Kurt Daniels, and Shannon Bross. It is all next Monday, Boys counting down the days? Huh? One week? One week? Can't wait? Nice? You guys are gonna be solo next week? Are you gonna be able to make it? Are we even here Monday?

I think you'd go next Wednesday. You know what, I don't even care when you go. I will be South of the Boys one for everyone in Halleby. You'll call it. No, no, I'm done calling it after that, after that tooth thing, I am done calling in went back and listened to that disaster. It's good quality radio there. I was like, Oh, what's going on? How you boys doing? Man? It feels like it's been forever. I forgot where the studios at, or forgot how to do everything. I feel just so

out of place. What First off, let's go around the table with no Cowboys football for the first time in six seven months. What did you guys do? What did you do this weekend, Kurt just various kid things and stuff around the house. I didn't I didn't see a whole lot of football. Actually that is the most generic it is. It wasn't anything exciting. Trust me, Nate, I hope you did something more exciting than Oh. Yeah, man,

see some of us, I don't want to see anything negative. Yeah, but we we mean hurt our purest to the game of football. Oh my god, you know we we when Kurt didn't watch, we're salivating. We're salivating for the season to start, and we're preparing. I mean, you know, I go to great lens to make sure everything is secure going into like spreading July. Tell people this is what I'm doing. I'm day by day, breath by breath, you know, and I'm and I'm marching towards that. Huh. And now

I work with you, guys. Kurt has been honor and and I'm going down the stretch right and I'm thinking about this whole season just the only to understand that while I'm making all these arrangements just to get the training camp and to get through that and to go and all this got doing is trying to wait and see who's the next big hit in Mexico. So no, no, I watched yesterday. I watched some good almost good, barely good. Man.

I just needed I just needed to step back. I'll probably watch next weekend like Buffalo and Jacksonville did, they stepped back? I just I started to go watch Tennessee and Kansas City did. I can't believe Tennessee they stepped back? How was that game? Nate? Once the big tight end Kelsey got hurt. It's like I was gonna so that again. So we're not the only team that when you lose the key player, the rest of the team for the tit to play around you. Okay. I was shocked how

much they dropped off after Kelsey left. Oh man, like somebody just hit us, hit us, stand up running back. This is a tight end, you know, you know good one. I gonna tell you how Kelsey remind me just is how Zeke is. You're in a hot air balloon, right, you got this fire going to the hot and you're going up, but you reach your peak, right, and that's the cowboys for Zeke got ahead and this can't sit before whether they and you go to throwing the bags off.

You see what I'm saying there, but then all of a sudden, loom pops. You get up so high and the flames goes up. You start up and nobody knows when you hit the ground because everybody got the assess how to catch. Let me ask you something talking about that. Are there key players on certain teams that you game plan so hard around them that when they're out that the game plan just falls upon What makes that happen? I was shocked to answer your question. Evidently that is

Kansas City that happened to them. I think they could adjusted better than have lost the running back. I don't know about the wide receiver, but the running back they could have probably lost him because they got a suitable backup. But what's what's amazing to me is Andy Reid has always been able to build a team. You know, with the Eagles, you know Donovan McNally, but he always had pieces around Donovan. So as long as you had Donovan, you could you could, you could survive. And uh, it

just didn't happen. Man. It was just it was ugly. I mean it was ugly, but it's like there was a two different halves and it's like Tennessee. Once they hit him, and knocked him out. It's like Tennessee turning to a different animal. You know, Smith had like thirty three passes, yeah, second half yeah wow, And uh, I feel bad for Smith because I don't know if he's uh, I know he's not elite quarterback, but it's been quarterbacks that won Super Bowls that ain't no where near what

this kid is. This young man is. He just ain't gonna never get that opportunity because he always setting up for the next guys. Hard top ten guys this year. But you're right, he's just never yeah, like it never. And Andy Reid normally can put a guy like him in place to do some things. I mean, as much as I love Donovan McNabb what he did for the Eagles, uh, and the Reid brought him along right and got him in.

You know, it took him to a super Bowl. So as to read, they're ready for him to Yeah, they're ready for if and the Reid don't hurt him, put the backup in. They're gonna want him out of there. The fans go and see this is I remember Ken City just four or five years ago. They was clamoring just to get them. They got and to read they was doing flips. Oh yeah, It's funny how quick everything

can change in the NFL. Here we are trying to get in the playoffs with consistency, and they're trying to get him because he came you know, right, what game? What game yesterday? Surprised you or did he? Oh? Man, I'm gonna tell you what, Atlanta. Atlanta came out and played some hard nose, grind it out, make the plays when they're there. Take and then for Lage justice, Hey man, girl is one of the best backs in the league.

Let's just take him and put him over to the side and let's let the young quarterback win the game. Bad idea. I think he ran the ball sixty touch a ball sixteen times? Yeah, how do you do that? How do you do that? As a coach? Uh? You? You? You know what? Great job all year coach the playoffs, though, baby, People know who you are different animal, right, Yeah, people know who you are and they know who your best player is. In another year, we may not be saying

that about brother Golf though. That cat can throw, man, that cat can flat out throw you hit me. I'm see. I tell people, it's a difference to me. When you can flat out throw like Drew Brees can. You can learn to be a better throw like Cam has learned to be a better throw like I got here, gonna learn to be a better throw through proper technique. Some guys just got that Nat Bro and uh, I think and maybe I'm maybe I'm wrong, but that dude can throw.

We're talking about golf. Yeah he can throw, Yeah he can he can throw. Bro. It's funny going back when we played the Falcons, you were talking about we hope they don't find it. Then yeah, I got him. They were four and four before they played the Cowboys. They went six and two since then lost to the vic and at the Saints, two of the best teams in the league. And they should have first. They should have figured out a week Could they not have figured out

a week later? They've been rolling everything they played us. And the funny thing that so is a lot of us was getting on us and I'm talking about me and other analysts, so called experts. We're getting on Matt Ryan and riding them. But this is the style they played. Now, it ain't arod out make the greatest plays in the world. They've taken DeVante Freeman and Coleman and they saying, you know, we're gonna smash you too. We're gonna hit you in

the midf We're gonna slow this game down. They did learn something from what they what happened to them last year, you know, don't have your defense strung out in a bad way. Played. Until we played them and I saw them in person, I didn't realize how good their running backs are. Those cats will just they could outrun you, and if they get cornered, they'll put their head down and just roll, I mean with with some thunder, yes, like Mini Marshawn Lynch. I'm gonna tell you was an

embarrassing game, though. You know, I thought Kansas City put laid the goose ad which I saw the Buffalo Jacksonville. Was it or their defenses, that their offenses that bad? Man? Wow, you would like that, you would like to think, You would like to think, man, that Blake Bortles. I used to take up for this cat, but they just give him time, give give him some players, give him. Man he had and the wind was blown, I understand, but he had. I mean, guys so so wide open, and uh,

it was just bad. It was just terrible. I mean, but but things was going his way because he dropped the snap, you know, picked it up. Ran for Keith first. I mean Jackson, they got a defense too, bro, Yeah they're good. Yeah, Tyrod Taylor. Man, he wasn't no better. And then they put that young kid in your young kid in there. He had a out of four plays, he had a fumble, you had the interception, and something else bad happened to him. I say, lord, he can't

nothing break for this kid. You know, best game, man, the best game. The best game was and you didn't think it was gonna be a game in the first half was New Orleans and uh in Carolina. But what oh? Cam really really surprised me. But Drew Brees, they told me, well, they stopped, they stopped to run your alternatives, Drew Brees. You shouldn't let him run because you you they stacked the box and Drew Brees lit them up. I mean, you gotta pick your poison with that team. Yeah, that

breeze can kill you. And those two running backs are deadly. I'm gonna say it. I said every year. I said it the very first year Zeke got here. I said it when DeMarco Murray was here. And I'll continue to say this. Give me a team that's built through the offensive line, in defense, total defense, and I can get you in the playoffs every year. Give me a quarterback, and I can get you to the super Bowl. Do you think any of these guys can win next week on the road, any of these teams? The Saints. So

here we go, here's the here's the schedule. Falcons at the Eagles, Sat. Oh, and the Falcon's got the best pick of the day, factors, got it. I mean, if Nick Foles don't do the more what he did in the last two or three weeks, even this off week, he was sorry. So Battle of the Birds, Yeah, Saints at the Vikings. That place is gonna be rocking, Titans at the Patriots, Saints some of their own medicine with the noise, and Jaguars at Steelers. What do you think?

I don't think, I mean Patriots should roll. I think the Falcons, like they've been playing so well, man, it's just it's just amazing. They win in ugly games with all that talent, they win in ugly games. And Matt Ryan just made those when he had to make those, I mean, he looked like a a professional quarterback. He making it. I just it just amazes me when I look at these teams, they they subscribe to what I think is winning football. Your defense travels. Don't ever forget

that defense travels, run game travels. What do you mean by travels. Whether it's cold outside, you can play defense, whether you're in a dome, you can play defense. You know, you you know if you got to shake a quarterback. But if you got a defense, you getting turnovers, you're getting stopped. You can give him multiple opportunities, even extra opportunities if it's allowed you. Oh, you can play defense. But how far away though the Cowboys? And that's and

that's that leads me to this question. We can get calls on this if you want. We're gonna take calls all the second third segments. We hadn't talked. We hadn't talked to the people. Several weeks. I was I was telling somebody, I said, look at here, I say, you

were twelve and four. Listen to mccurt please write this down for you were twelve and four, and all you needed when you were twelve and four was or what we worried about was who was going to sign back on the defense and what warhorse we was gonna have war Daddy. Those was two pressing things. Now you go nine and seven and tell me what we don't need? How bad is that? How drastic is that we didn't think enough of the guy that went to Denver that

he was that key. We didn't think that much of Church and all other guys they were key, and Terrell mccleane was sorely missed. But all of these things had to happen for this team to get where they needed to get. But I got type. It's amazing when you twelve and four and maybe need a few things, and now you go nine to seven, and boy, you he showed we should have lost the last game, so you

can at least have the fifteenth to sixteen. Yeah, so you just think now, so and and we media, we all sit down and by the end of in a couple of months, we can tell the world what the Cowboys need the most. And I tell you later right here what you need your most as guys would have winning attitude, guys that are for the team first, and a player that can come in and play and have

an impact. That's what we need and what we need. Third, and most of all it is for every guy that's been drafted in the last three years to take a step next year, a positive and forceful step, and we don't do that. Yeah, you're in the same spot. Brown has to We have to see something special out of Brown, Anthony Brown, something special out of him next year. All those young dbs, Yeah, our wire receivers, you know, whether the coach gotta help them or whether they do it

on their own. You have to be much better. And if z if Dak excuse me, if Zeke is the guy that makes you better, we may be in trouble. If Zeke the only guy that makes you better, that's sad. That's sad. Yeah, doesn't Zeke make Dak better? Also? But I understand the overall where you're going with that, Sir Douglas. But what if you don't play a game, and what if it's a what if it's against Green Bay or was it what what if it's against another Los Angeles

Rams type? What was if it's against another San Diego Charges type? Where we need this game so we so at the end of the year, we don't have to be pushed up against the wall and win a game. A guy go out, Oh, man, I'm hurt today. Okay, now you ain't no good and you ain't no good come on from you got a call us out like that, Nate. We're all friends here, were all friends. But I agree

with you. I think sometimes not every team, not the Patriots, not the Steelers, not teams like that, but I think sometimes teams, especially the Cowboys team, where you had all those guys leave on defense, you got to take a step back to put those guys on the field see what you got. If you don't put them out there and see what you have, you don't know what you need to get next year. Yeah, you got him out there, didn't look bad towards the end of the year, So

I'm not you know. I've had a couple of people ask me, what do you think should Garrett come back? And I'm like, give the man one more year. Give him one more year. These are his guys, these young guys. They made the decision to go to the direction they did. There were some things off the field that happened that

he couldn't deal with, which that happens with everybody. But I say, give the man one more year, and if you don't make the playoffs next year, Hey, so, now what all the coaches we've lost, We've lost I know, the special team coach. Yeah, Mischa is supposed to be joining Gredden with the Raiders. About that, Yeah, I'm you know what, Wilson's gone. They're talking Kellen Moore as a possible replacement quarterbacks coach for him. That's why they kept

him around. Derek Dooley, wide receivers coach, is now the offensive coordinator at Missouri. Oh yeah, Baker, the secondary coach, was let go. Steve Loaney, the tight ends coach, is retired. Matt Eberfliss. I guess his the linebackers coach. His contract is up and he's looking for to move up in the world. He wants to be a defensive coordinator somewhere. So he's likely gone. So we we we didn't get rid of under the coordinators. But guess what all your

assists gone. Yeah, there's a big turn over the sister Yeah. So now you bring in a different Deeven's back coach, you bring in a different wide receiver coach. What they're gonna command, what they're gonna need? What? What? That's what you were talking about. And the bride receivers have to step up next year. They're bad this year. Can a new well, new coach helped that, bringing fresh a fresh voice or Pubert he's hell? Or you uh? Did you?

Are you losing something without that consistent? I just think what the wide receivers is, what what what are you going to do to make yourself better? Matter? It ain't it ain't like we did and we only have two young guys. Everybody else veterans in this league. You should know, you know, after about four years, what all our receivers

when I played, was the coach. They didn't need a coach, you know, because they were they were they they held itself accountable, kind of like our offensive line do they have. They got a certain standard they want to play too, you know. So it's just amazing. It's just amazing. And I'll give you an example, and I'll go back to the New Orleans game where they committed eight guys up on the line to stop Kamara and Ingram. And I'm not saying that this kid is no Drew Brees, He's not,

but receivers made plays that he caught the ball. Now we had a much better quarterback throwing it to him, but he receives tell me the start the starting full for for for for this, for this Saints team, tell me start, tell me the starting four receivers for the Saints team. Still looking at him, named Dad, still still

still there? Now he ain't Kenny ain't playing now now Thomas Thomas has one right yeah, see but you but you get what I'm saying, right see, come on now, that's it comes a point where you as a player, you can say coach, coach, coach all you want, but it comes a point as a player that you you you can execute two. So the coaches shouldn't this turnover, shouldn't any certain positions. No, if you got veteran guys,

the system ain't change. You got veteran guys, get better within the system, and then if the system don't work, they're okay. And that still don't having to do it a wide receiver coach that has still more to do it off to coordinate. He don't want calling the plays. Well, he's about to build a coaching staff in his image, you know, so I got a lot of I mean, if Kellen Moore's the QB coach, there's no more of a Lenahan guy than Kellen and Laurn True let's take

a quick break, fellas. When we come back, we'll take some phone calls hang out with the boys. It can be hard to find the right resource for learning about important financial matters. back to hanging with the boys, Kurt. I know it's been a minute since you got to talk about some drawls. I missed it. Put that Tommy John in your mouth, got mine on today. Actually, Tommy John gives you the feeling of freedom where it counts. With the contour patch pouch that nestles the boys with over three million pairs sold, we put the hustle to make sure nestled shoppy swift of cowboys underwear Tommy John, Tommy jod God floor for sash.

Just stop stop God, it's Monday. I went to I went to to buy some uh underwear like Tommy john just to kind of a cheaper brand. So I kind of loaded up because I could. Tommy Johns are not real inexpensive, and I wanted to change my whole wardrobe over from boxer briefs to these Tommy john types. Not even close to the same. I wear Tommy John's and I can wear these the next day, and I'm like, I mean, there's still better than the old cotton boxer briefs, Dude,

There's a world of difference. Don't go don't go cheap. I'm gonna convert my whole, my whole drawer drawer. You ventured a new world. What world's at Douglas? Well, I mean, if you're converting your underwear scene I am at this point in your life, that's a new world. Okay, all right, let's go to the phones. By the way, we're taking calls today. I don't even know if anybody is listening. They are on Monday at eleven at least eighteen two one eight seven two twenty one O two. Let's go

to the phones. Let's go all the way up to New Jersey, Niffin. Hey, hey, guys, how you guys been happy in your yar? You two? Man? How's the weather up there? It's cold? How cold is cold? Five? Oh? Good god, it's like it got up in the fifties here today so far. So yeah. It was down in the twenties last week and week before. So man, yeah, what's your question? Man? So yeah, I get Did you guys get my shout outs on Twitter? I always give

you guys shout outs on Twitter? Did you guys get them? Yes, sir, we did. Thank you for that. What's your what's your what's your Twitter handle? By the way, so everyone knows I got three of them. Champagne Yankee real Way, Nisan and Swagnis And why why do you have three? I don't know, just just uh, I guess uh for for one, I think for I have three because for the gym business and like work, you know, uh, one that his family doesn't know about and one that is co working. Yep,

everybody's got kurts Aget like that too. So so my questions. Uh. So I'm a big Dallas Cowboy fan all the way from New Jersey. So um. Unfortunately, it was a disappointed season for us, but um, I think we have good things looking forward for us in the future. In the future, especially uh with the running like Zeke and Dak. But I'm I'm hoping that Zeke does not get in trouble with this aw season. Hopefully he learned his lesson, so maybe he can U focus on working hard and uh

playing with the full seasons for us. So that's what I'm looking forward to. And I think there's a I think we need to start looking at more ride receiver depth because I'm concerned about the ride receiver core. I like Bryce Butler, so I think we can I think hopefully we can resign him because he he has a lot more potential with the cas He's able to catch the ball from the from the deep, he's like a deep threat. So I think if we can get Bryce

Butler back, that's a big plus. Um. But we have the nineteen pick in the draft, so I was I want to get I was wondering, do you think the guy from Georgia do you think he's gonna be there? Rock On Jones or Smith whatever is naming. Thanks for the call, Nathan First, let's that's a that's a great point. Yeah, we'll be down at the Senior Bowl from the twenty second to the twenty fifth, and we're hoping he's Obama. He's a he's a Georgia guy. I don't see a lot of them come into the Senior Bowl, but a

lot of the BAMA guys do. So, yeah, we'll be down there, man, and brought us. You know, they come on raight before us on Mondays, you know, so Draft show, make sure you call in and get him some love, man, and and he would be the guy that's gonna be on that early. He started like week level the twelve. He's already he's already got I think thirty or forty guys that he's that he's already broken down. We're gonna have him on the show from time to time too

to answer all of our draft questions. So he hit them. Brought up a good point. What are you looking forward to on this team? Forward to? Yeah, I honestly, I'm looking forward to seeing Rod Smith develop a little bit more. See where that kind of goes. I like what we got to see of him, and you know, kind of somewhat limited action and then when he when he got opportunities, he took advantage of it. I'm looking forward to, you know,

seeing the young guys in the secondary. Um Cheeto didn't get a lot of play in time, but when he did, he you know, he took advantage of it. And and this is kind of this is kind of out there, Cavan. Of course, I want to see if he can develop a little more, but I'm kind of starting to wonder what Jeff He's got Towards the end of the year. Everybody on this team, and we heard, you know, Chris Hall say it. You know, the guys on this team think he's a great player. You know, he saved game

in Oakland. The guys really like him. Is what's he in your four four or five at least that yeah, is it, Nate? Is it too late in a career? Have you ever seen a guy that yeah, got it? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, And he got better as the year went on. You know, It's just what I secondary missing, is that guy that's back there that can get everybody lined up as well as to do his job on top of that. Do you think Church was that guy in the secondary? I think because you know, you know Sean Leeves that guy

in the middle. And I used to be kind of on Church. You know, I always felt said, yeah, he got a line to everybody else. He got in social you know, maybe it makes him. But the last year he was here, he's like, wow, you know, Church getting everybody lined up, and but he had so many good role role better guys that you know, they get twenty five players here. Jeff, he was one of those guys JJ willcost so uh. Now they got a mixture of guys back there. But who is gonna be that leader?

Is it gonna is Jones gonna stop up and get everybody lined up and make sure he's doing it right. And when you say later, you mean the one that was taking all the responsibility to make sure everybody's doing their job. Yeah, as well as doing your jobs. It ain't no good if you get everybody lined up and the yeah was it he there towards the end of the year because you saw Jones and yeah, it just he can't start to be that guy. And so that's why you know you asked, h Kurt, what is he looking?

Don't let other players dictate your play, you know, Uh, I don't care how sorry to guard the tackle who was was next to me. That ain't gonna dictate high play unless we got a combination block or we got a game to switch. But you even a dictate if I got to try to block Kurt, I'm going to get Kurt now if you if he can't get it, I gotta go get Kurt. So if you can't get this guy, that's your problem. See and that these guys. Uh, that's why I say mentally, are you mentally gonna take

a step forward? If you mentally take a step forward and you physically gonna take a step forward, you know, uh, if you you can be in the gretty shaving the world, but you run around there like a you know, your head cut off like a chicken. It ain't doing me no good or chickens. They get such a bad rap. He mentioned Bryce Butler. Do you think in retrospect it would have been because we have no speed over the top guy would have been better to have signed him

to multi year dear instead of Williams. I don't know it. Just as an ex player, I just said, up, I'm marveled, like wow, man, okay, it's like we dropped off the map and we still wind up nine and seven, but it's like he dropped off the just the face of the earth, you know, Like I said, the one area I just knew we weren't gonna be lacking in that. That was receiver. I said, Man, okay, they can help this quarterback day. Back to the phones, Eric with a seed,

North Carolina. Man, it's been too long. What's up? Yeah, man, working man burning the midnight or guys already? You know? Strip egg rolls today? That's all. I had two trip egg rolls. That's all I wanted. Yeah, to take Chinese takeout spot. It was very delicious with some ducts off. That's all I wanted today for much. Yeah, man, happy New Year to you guys. Have to talk to you all year. So yeah, what's on your mind today. I just want to get you guys to spect you as

far as the draft goals as you could. I would give you three positions, as far as if your personal parts, what you took from this season, as far as what we would need the most. I want you, guys, if you could quickly kind of rank these three positions. The first position, it will be in junior lineman. Second position will be a linebacker somewhere. It could be any any linebacker, Mike Well whatever. Uh. And then also uh, wide receiver.

So I'm gonna hang up, be real breathing, And I talked to you guys later Cowboys for like, So, Eric, are you talking about first round one three A very at the nineteenth pick, at the very first selection that we made. What if you got you got easy? One of these guys you like on the board at those three positions, which one would you take first? How would you rank them as far as priority and and what you feel like will feel the most need and make

the most RiPP or effect on the team. Shouldn't saying so I'm gonna hang up, I personally I would say, will receive it. We can if Christian Kirk will be there or Kevin Ridley would be there sitting in nineteen or you know, I would say that I would go there. That would be number one for me. Number two will probably So we're a lineback kind of chop out sean league, and then we need time some kind of like uh in cherial liner man to back up that. I don't know,

the baby boost it up. Somebody can run swing. There's a lot of tackles coming out the draft. They can be a lot of guards. They could be converted as tackles and vice versa coming out the draft, you know, out of couses, ship stuff. I soon'll get you guys, take on it. That's all all right, Thanks Eric, Kurt.

I'll ask you first, sure the pick rolls around. You got three guys that you like just as equal they're they're all three of them are tired on your board as far as talent, and they're all they're all there at nineteen. What do what position do you draft? I'm starting to kind of lean towards what Nate's talking about it as a defensive tackle. Was he one of the three options one of the No, you can make your own options. Those those were just Eric's options. Yeah, who's

who's your three in order. I mean, I know we needed a big fiver. You're thinking a big space eater guy like against Will Forker. I know we even need a receiver that. I just we give so many resources to our offense. Last year we went pretty heavy defense. But I don't know, I just I want to see this defense take the next step. I think the offense can be there. If Zike plays a full season of tyrons in there, a full season Dak has some help, I think will be okay. I think I really want

to see that defense take the next TOEP. So you're going D line, TA line a linebacker, That's what I'd like to I'd like to see the best available defensive player, so D line linebacker and then probably receiver. Yeah, I'm I'm going defense too, but I'm going just a badass linebacker because I think if you have a good defense, or a a good to great defense, you can win

games without an offense. We've got an offense. Now. Did they sputter at times, Yeah, But I think if you have a great defense that picks them up and keeps them, you know, keeps them on the field, it's a totally different ball games. So I would I'm thinking I'm leaning a linebacker, wide receiver. I would just wait, man, I think I think you can pick up a wide receiver and free agency that you can get in here, and and you know that's gonna change obviously how you how

the draft plays out. But I would go linebacker, maybe a secondary guy, and then you lineman are like cornerbacks, you can never have too many of them. But I would definitely go defensive side of the ball. Nate, what you're doing. I'm serious, brother, I said it before, I'm sticking to it. Whoever's there that can get on the field and make some impact for this team, I don't I don't care, you know. But if you ain't ranking nothing, whatever it is, even if it's a kicker, we need

him here. We need to start building a team that can sustain a long term winning It don't matter. I'm serious if you I ain't evenished. If we go to the Senior Bowl next week and then somebody said, hey man, that obvious lineman now he can play, I want him. If they say, hey man, that's why I received by boy he can play, I want him. If he's a divasive back safety, I won't him. But about quarterback. Yes, sir, I won't nothing if they decide that that Dak is

not the guy I want him. What hurts me the most is we cannot do the up and down thing because the up and down thing, we went twelve and four. What did we need? We didn't have these calls last you remember offense? Yeah, now we went nine and seven. Guess what we got called? Hey, how do you rank this? And how do you rank that? Ranked me a player that can play, because I don't need another Charleston coming in here and can't play for eight nine games. You can't get on the field. I don't need that. I

need guys that can get on the field. So you want a guy that you draft and immediately your plug, Yes, sir, Like we did. Frank him. He got here, and they he's our center. Martin Red got here, Fred Frederick, he got here. He was our guard. Smith he got here. He was our guy. Jones. They played him all over the place. I'm like, wow, man, put this guy play. Put these guys at a position where they can perform.

But even when Jones was here and they were moving him around, he was still on the field most naps. It wasn't like he didn't see the field. Yeah, but you put him at safety. That's what that's what he was, that's who he is, and that's what he always gonna be if he's gonna be anything. And we go get Charleston and really, nah, that man. Get a guy, bring him in here, plug him in and let him play. Let's find out can he play? I don't. I don't have an issue with a scout or coach unless it's

a number one pick. That's not that's not a quarterback and he can't get on the field. Yeah, they got it their first first for sure, Second and third really too, should make be an immediate impact. Well, see second round. I don't even know where we I don't know what we do when we go to second round. So there's a project guy. Yeah, guys are supposed to be helped building your team. I don't know what that is. So let's go back to the phones. Tom in Pennsylvania, what's

up Tom? Hi, guys, they just wanted to add my two cents. When we pick in the draft and through free agency, we're not New England and we're not Pittsburgh. We gotta get guys that can come in and play right away and contribute. We can't afford. We're not that type of team that we're so elite that we can fool around with guys like well like Taco and Jamiel Sharers and the different ones befool you know. And I have nothing against them, you know, they're trying to make

a career for themselves. But at this point in time, I think we need to get players that's gonna come in and hit the field right away and contribute. And uh, that's my two cents, and I agree with you percent, you know, you know, like I believe that I write Diva's even should be starting we go to train when we go to first whatever they have out here on these fields, tas right, Dieva's Avin should be one guy and behind him should be other guy out of Oklahoma, Tapper.

It shouldn't be everybody else. Get out the way and let's let them to go at it. And if they both healthy at the end of training camp, one of those two guys should be to start and other guys should be the Roads guy if we if we got anybody else, unless we draft the guy again in the first round of deepn svend, then he gets to start first, and the other two get to be backups and rotation guys. But don't draft the guy even though we don't. We know you don't have first round grades on these guys.

We don't draft him. If you're not gonna play him, don't draft him because, if anything, we should know better about the first round pick, better than we know about the fourth round pick, our feel frown pick. We shouldn't know a little bit better unless we got an inside guy, a gal at the school. I have done something special with this kid. Other than that, we should know more about our first two picks than anything. Thanks for the call, Tom, appreciate it. We are gonna take a quick break, last

hang it with the Boys. Back the are in Fresco, Texas. My last time on the air before I go to Mexico. I hope it's not. You're not your last time ever. There's no telling what I happened down there. Oh, there's no telling what I did that once too, not on this trip, but another trip. Oh, it was so terrible that I'd have to tell y'all that story. I was one day day I was stuck in a little one room house with a friend of mine with the tape with one I ate something bad or there was water

in the food or something. But my last night there we went. It was just one room, like beds, two different beds, one bathroom, and the door didn't even fit really on the bathroom, so there was about a three inch gap under the bathroom. Let's just say it was. It was a very noisy too. Oh my god, it was a girl. Of course I went down there to visit, just a free but still we didn't hang out much after that. All right, let's go back to the phones

costas in New York. What's up, hey, guys, Listen, I just got to say how much I love the show and the analysis. Nate. I know you already said no to this, but I really think that you should consider. I think you should write a book, maybe leave out all the names of the people involved, but I would

love to read it. I would too. Yeah. So I basically just wanted to say, and not to be all negative, but I think we could use a little bit different offensive coordinator, because I don't know how you go from up and down like that, and you have an all pro receiver and they bracket cover them, but then you can't get them open. I mean I switched guys, but I meant Beasley. And then there's Dez whose production had

gone down. Like I remember at the beginning of the season, des carried the entire an entire defense into the end zone. So I don't think he's lost anything. I just think it's, you know, maybe we could be more creative. I don't know if that's my thoughts. Guys definitely gonna about that, you know, and whoever they bring in as why I receive a coach or the quarterback coach. You know, we

are in the league that is not dumb. And that's what I try to explain to people is you know, last year, I said, boy, okay, now, if I'm thinking this and I'm just looking at like, okay, h Kobe Lane gonna be special next year if I'm risking that's what I'm saying. I'm the Giants on Washington, Kobe Ling not against us, yeah, you know, uh not Cole Beasley. You know, no, no, no, I'm talking about Switzer one

here yet. I'm talking about the offseason. When I'm breaking down the NFC's champs I'm like, okay, what oh yeah, yeah, okay, We'll see how they react when we stack this line and we feel these gaps when we don't let zeke out of there. Let's seeing this kid through medium to long routes with consistency. Let's see can he throw that back? Should of fade? Let's put this guy on top of on top of deads. Let's see what. Let's see what's happening.

Can they answer the bell? Kurt, That's what I'm telling you. The NFL ain't dune. Kurt, looks something up real quick. I don't know where to go find this. One hundred yard games this season by any receiver on the Cowboys. I think there's just one. Wouldn't it Williams one game? It wouldn't never get one. Look, let me look, nah, take me a minute. Yeah, just look it up so that it's it's very minimal, right, one or two? Yeah, something something. And it's the same the same guys you

had the year before. So that tells me you still got the talent. These guys just did. They didn't all just they just all didn't saying so something else, somebody. If you're a coach, you get schemed up Okay, you're missing your back. Okay, Okay, how many times gonna say that? What if you just broke a leg? Okay, so you're missing your back. So if they if they don't, you have to do something different. You can't just run the same routes in the same situation, same because if you

do this is the NFL ain't done. So you have to do something as an offensive coordinator, head coach. While I receive a coach, somebody, quarterback, coach, somebody got up say hey, if they do this, we do that. If they do this, we do that. You know, because you you don't. You don't, uh, you don't be that. You can't be that simple. And the Cowboys or not that simple. But Jason Garrett is smarter than that. Coach Shanahan is smarter than that, you know, So now it's time to

put it into effect. And that that blows me away that they've only had that many, that few hundred yard receiving games in an entire season, and you had Zeke most of the season. Whether they're putting eight guys in the box and you still have one guy that can't get loose to get free for one hundred yards day, Yeah, something. What is that is? That is that on the quarterback is it's either got to be one of the quarterbacking route running from the top to the bottom. But the

key is That's why I'm saying. You know, you asked curting me at the beginning of the show, what are you sold for looking to? I want to see what all these young guys, dude coming into the second year? Uh what will you get better? Or will you fall off the map? Let me ask you this. I didn't ask you guys. What did y'all think of Switzer? Got a lot of play in time that last game, made some catches, made some first downs. What do you think of him? Yea, you know, it's just you know, I

would like to see him. I like seeing him in the game. He made some nice lot out out routes, you know, get out of bounds. I would like to see some four receiver sets. See it ain't y'all, You ain't always got to run different routes. But you can put pressure just through formations too, you know, give us

some different looks, some different formations something like that. Oh wow, okay, now let's let's have some some double some double option routes in our slot receivers, you know something, some crossing routes, working down low, you know, seeing what these other guys can do. Man, uh, you know it ain't always got to be a new a new route, but let's running a route, you know. Go back to the phone, Shane and Oregon. What's up? Man? Hey, how you guys doing great?

How are you good? Thanks? So along the lines to everybody here. I think it's probably going to be a necessity if if you don't sign Anthony Hitchins back, you better get a linebacker. I think it's very important that we get a linebacker if we don't sign Hitchings back. For sure. Obviously you need to get one regardless for depths. But I think that's a priority. And a speed receiver would be great. Like you're saying, but if we're not going to use him, I mean kind of, we got

to use him. I truly believe, along with Nate said before receiver sets, if you're going to get a switcher on the field, get him on the field a beasily make him cover both those quick guys. The other thing I think might be a possibility. I'm up and down on an offensive coordinator because I like the consistency. You know that it comes from year to year. But on the other hand of it, you've got to figure out some ways to get your guys open. You got to

figure out some ways to get your playmakers the ball. Um. I Todd Haley's a free agent, didn't sign a contract. I like what he does with Levion Bell. I think he could be a serious weapon if Lenahan can change his ways and maybe do the same thing with a Zeke. Anyway, guys, I'll hang up, get your thoughts on all that. I kind of just ran over and appreciate your time. Thanks, Shane. All all good points. Well let's start with Hitch. I totally agree you're in I think you're in bad trouble.

If Hitch walks out the door and you you don't get it, go get a stud guy. I don't know if you can afford to keep him, but if you don't get him, you gotta get somebody man, because you know, Sean Lee, just from history, isn't gonna be on the field sixteen games an entire season. Um, can you imagine this defense without Hitchens and without Lee? Yeah, we did see that, We did see what was the result, Kurt was not pretty no, Nate, Nate, you can look. It's okay,

it's face palm over there. I'm just so tired. We developed Hitches. Okay, we don't sign him. We don't sign him, but you know, now you force yourself until against a wall with another young guy linebacker. This game made easy for linebackers to learn hitches can play three spots. Uh you know, I you know I don't, but I'm not the you know, like say, Mickey is the the guru when it comes to this tape. But if you don't sign Hitch, I don't think you can plug that gap

with the with the somebody in the draft. I think you gotta go get somebody because I don't think the guy that fills that role one is on this team. And two, I don't think you can afford to have a young guy to develop him and see what he's got in that role. But see the key to all our callers when you call in, we ain't doing those big time agencies. So y'all forget that it's too much dead money on the cap. I do know that there's too many players you gotta still continue to pay Tyrone Crawford, Uh,

Sean Lee still out there. We gotta get uh uh Martin signed. We gotta get this guy signed. We gotta get Dak guy signed. So it may need a younger version of Durant. That's the guy that they have been signed. We have a guy with a funny name in Wickery. No linebackers Lillard. Yeah, I mean sometimes you gotta go what's in here? You know? Uh? But so we and every every two or three years we go out and

get another, uh, another linebacker. But in about two years, if we do this cap right, we'll be from under a lot of stuff. Yeah, but then you're gonna have Dak and well that Zeke coming up. Well, you know, Zeke he got to play with his fifth year. Yeah, Zeke gotta you gotta play Zeke with his fifth year. Like like Martin, Martin got all if it's me, he got to play. And I'll be like, I know you're mad, but you got to play the fifth year. You gotta give me a fifth year. You know? What about it?

What about Shane's point about a wide receiver, even if you go get a stud wide receiver bringing a free agent, he can see that. That's that's my thing. That's my that's my thing is if you're not gonna use the guy, they said, Oh, only when we threw a nine route. We need a we need a route, cold blooded runner, a guy that can can run from the ex position. That's that's Dad's position. That can run all the routes. It's nine routes. I think like you can Fitch Gerald

type guy. Yeah, that can run it, that can run it and get open. And more important than our problem this year was the catches. We'd have caught a few balls. Did we looking at a different team? Yeah, you know we'd have caught a few balls. We're looking at a whole different situation. That is that part? Is that on coaching? Is that that's just on player players? Man? Focus? Or Yeah, so what you need to coach on you know, you

ever watched Fred Flintstone? You see the gazoo on this, So you need to coach on the show the ball? Catch the ball? Come on, man, I'm the great Gazoo. Come on, was gazoo Flintstone? Whatever? J Well, it was a little thing on barning them showal of was it the Jets? Exactly what he's talking about? Zoo? Was he was that on Flintstone? It might have been the Jetsons. Maybe the Jetsons of it. I think they were kind

of the same show, but with different people. One was modern and one was for his story, right, you know the Cowboys they obviously they should get a lot of criticism for the drops and DEAs was one of the worst the league. But as a team they were like tied for sixth fewest. Really and there's different people that rate how he drops. But is that percentage of attempts though? You know that's just brother, I'm talking about losing games forgetting them numbers? Look at your what's your eye? Tell

what did your I tell you? Look what did your eye? You know, I told you that it would have caught a few of these balls. They wouldn't have been interceptions, at least bat them down. Yeah, Dess tied for fifth in the league. It was the flint Stones, the Great Gazoo. Yeah, voiced by Harvey Corman. There we go, man, he sounds a lot like little Zeke whatever. I ain't got one little punk voice, you know what. I'm all right, Fellas, let's get out of here so I can get one

one minute closer to Mexico. When do you leave? I leave Monday, I fly out Monday morning at six am MLK day, I will be celebrating. Why are you gonna fly on her brother day? That whole beverage just happened. Happened to be the way it fail, Nate. When you get back, you're gonna fly on her brother's day to go see the Hispanics. Man, Hey, people celebrate things different ways. Man, I'll be I'll be back to go see a white guy saying next yeah, yeah, country guy at that crazy Um.

I'll be back to following Monday. So I will enjoy yourself and be safe. Man, I won't be on the show for two weeks. Man, And you're sure we can't call you, I might call in, Okay, I might do that. Yeah, I can do that. I'd have to have a night of drinking. I might not be out of bed that Wednesday. Potential next Wednesday at eleven, I might not be out at eleven to somebody else will be at eleven. Yeah, we'll be at two. I can do that. I'll be I'll be hammered. I'd be just as good as me

being doped up on coming trying to counteract a hangover. Yeah, the only one way to counteract that. That's where we're that's where weekend in. What's that Glad I stopped drinking? Man, We'll be good for your hangover. Okay, all right, Well I'll call in the next Wednesday. Make sure you guys tune in because there's no telling what will happen. Maybe I'll have a couple of senior ritas on my arm. Put them on the phone. We'll see a new tattoo. Maybe I don't have any tattoos. Would that would be

a new one. It would be a new one. Well, Kurt, thanks for showing up. All right, Nate, thanks for bringing it. You guys have a good show next week without me. Douglas, thanks for doing what you do can't Thanks for pushing all the buttons. We will They will be back next What are you go to go on Wednesday?
