The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club, Flowing out of the backfield, flooding down the sidelines. He's hanging with the Boys, broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters at the Star in Frisco. Now your host, Nate Newton, Kurt Daniels, and Shannon Gross today the Star in Frisco. How are we feeling? Are we still we're still trying to get over this win? Or have we moved on and focused on the Bucks
and Mann taking care of business this weekend? How you feel, Nate, never mind how you feel, Kurt. Nate's busy, He's got a mouth, He's loving those cookies today. Yeah. I don't got pastors him. You haven't asked it. I'm still got a little bit of a hangover from it. Yeah. Oh Douglas by the way, Um, yes, mister Smith, Jalen and Rod's dad. Yeah, Um, wanted me to tell you that he appreciates what you do, whatever that might be. That's awesome.
He sent me a text today and thank you for the shout out on the show and wanted you to know that he really appreciates you, but doesn't know what the hell you do, but thank you for doing whatever that is. Tell everybody what you exactly do and don't just right now or for the organization. No, well no, I don't. We don't nef that long. Yeah, we just what do you do on the show? What does producing mean? What does that? Well? I do all the sound production. I do all the opens for all of the podcasts.
So the break talking Cowboys this show. But during the show there's an audio board in here and Nate's already board. But yeah, no, I mean I gathered drops. Um, of course I've been gathering drops for years before I was producing this show. So a lot of the like the Miles Austin, Uh is something I put in years ago? Um? Yeah, yeah, so not much is what you say? Push buttons it? Yeah, yeah, it's I look busy while I'm doing it, though. Okay, if you were to put a camera on me, it
would look like, oh yeah, stuff's happened. We have a camera that we can actually put on you, don't we we do if we had where it is? Wow, man, this is the guy that wouldn't cut his half for the rest of us. Yeah, that's what he looks. He didn't love you, Kurt, like everybody else, like he's pushing the wrong button, screwed everything else. You know how everybody call and said we love you, Kurt, We're praying for you, Kurt. Yeah,
but Doug Douglas did show it. You know, he didn't talk about bush on the bush and talking loud, ain't saying nothing public enemy. I knew he was covering with up talking about pushing buttons. You two push pritenty buttons. You know, I'm trying to get people rilled up to chew them out, really poking the bear. That's what you tell you know what. We got to Concrete Cowboy, and you supposed to be that a night. Yes, Yeah, we're gonna have a hell of a show tonight. We got
a bunch of people showing up. Cool, so if you're in the area, come see us. They'll be we're having a one of our former employees and a former boss of mine and Kurtz. Matt O'Neill is in town and we haven't seen him in several months, so he organized a happy hour around Cowboys happy hour, So there will be a lot of people over there. We're gonna try to have pretty much everybody that's on any one of our shows over there, I think. So we're gonna rotate them out every segment, have a new have a new
group every segment. So it should be fun tonight check the show. We'll run the whole show man. They can't get rid of us, me and Nate if if they ask us to do it, We're doing it just because we like the attention. It's sounded a big ball, but there you go. All right, let's take calls all day to say we'll hit some points. But calls eight five, five, two, two nine seven what you're laughing at? I'm trying to hit this guy that I've been talking to get in
on our show. A yeah, hanging, I mean hanging with the boys. Mom told me last night She's like, I know Nate tries to egg me into calling the show, she said, but she can't ever get in. So do we have two lines work? Do we have two lines working, Douglas or just one? Two? Blow through them? Quicker? I guess so we do. So let's do that call us first thing out of the gate, Yes, sir, great question by Kurt Layton. Vander Esch hasn't seemed as effective of the last two games. Is there such thing as a
rookie wall. Nate, did you hit a rookie wall? It is such thing as a rookie wall. And what does that mean? Just fifty that the physical grind is finally getting to you. Your season is normally over with, maybe like now just noring more college football, you know, ten twelve games. Yeah, but you playing get grown men. Now, This ain't seven man, eight man or twelve man football. Just let them grown men. So it takes sometimes takes you a year to acclimate the grind. Yeah, can you
just keep working. He's a great athlete. He'll he'll be back bouncing in a week or two. But I he he played decent the week before and this week here the Nune out of linebackers were able to play decent because dative was getting on him because you because because because you called it, you called it the human log didn't do what he normally do and jam things up. Yeah, yeah, so that's one. Was I bet you mad? Jam I bet she mad about that? Man, an't one of him
like that? You can tell, man, he tried out to try to fight that. Come on, man, we tried to fight. Yeah, he talk to somebody scrappy scrappy. Let's go the phones. Felting in North Carolina? How are you doing well? Man? Glad to get through to you, guys. It's been a long time, but this is my second time getting through glad to dude absolutely absolutely? Who is this man? Felton? Who serious? Who is this Felton? Felton Felton? How you spelling that? As E? L T O? N All right?
Thank you serving calling. Then we'll get big with you later. This go ahead on, sir, no doubt name. You know that I get a lot of flats about my name, That's all. And I don't mind. I don't mind. All right, So I got I got one big question and primarily, Nate, this is gonna probably be something that's that's in your wheelhouse. Um, this is the primary question. Uh, and I want to I want to also say it correctly. So look, just give me a second. So how many wins as a
head coach responsible for? And I mean it in this way? Three? So my guests has always been three to five, mate, three to five? So three? That sounds good. So with that being said, setting dak up for success seems to be an issue, and it seems like he's not running when he should. That's coached. I think I'm throwing the ball away at this point. Coached. I think I'm a Dak supporter. I go back and forth with my buddies all the time about that. But I need to see
some growth and I need to see it yesterday. You know what I mean. I'm with you, Yeah, I'm with you, man. Okay, Okay, these guys, I'm telling you, I've been telling you. What I can't understand is, you know, sometimes they be on you so quick there ain't nothing you can do, and I and I go for that. But when you're standing back there and it's something you can do and you don't that, that's that's not winning football for your team. And the quarterback should always have one thought on his mind,
how can I best serve this team? And and real quick man, because I totally agree, and that in the assence, you know, I'm looking at Andrew. Look he's not the most scrambling quarterback, but he kept the line of scrimmage in front of him and he kept moving it forward. Um, you know when he had the opportunity he took off, that was that was just like, hey, nothing is there.
Let me do something. Let me get a couple of yards and I'm not seeing the same thing on our side when we have a guy who can actually get properly way more than than look good now one other thing, man, And I just want to just the whole situation. I think it was the last game, not this one against the coach, but when when a Cooper comes back to the hudder wind and kind of you know, says hey, man,
you know we're gonna run that same route again. I accept that from players on the field being something okay, they seeing the end game? Well, why why does it seem like the coaches don't see what our strengths are? That's what's this blowing my mind? Man, I mean I want to know, yeah, like what's going on? But anyway, man, I ain't gonna hold you guys. Man, always a pleasure. I will be listening as I always doing. Man, y'all
keep doing the work. I felt. I appreciate it. Man, you know, I think that's a question most of the fan base has is why are they seeing things that the coaching staff isn't or are they and they're just not? Sometimes I think they and we talked about on the show, sometimes I think they seem to get stubborn. It's almost like they try to this is what we're going into the game with and we're sticking with this no matter what, and it just I don't I don't get it sometimes.
I think the end game adjustments has been an ongoing problem for a long time, not just this season. It seems like even years past. It's just being able to adjust to what the defense is doing. You know, It's just it seems like an issue. And I don't know if that's the players, or that's Dag or it's coaches, you know, the offensive coordinator, the head coach, but being able to kind of change on the flight doesn't seem like a strength of this Sunday group. Yeah, and to
that point, you gave me a great stat. Zeke has had seventy three percent of the overall carries this season, but inside the twenty and the ten he's getting sixty two percent and only fifty percent inside the five. Gurley Todd Gurley, the running back for the Rams. He gets sixty eight percent of their overall of the Rams overall rushes, but they amp it up to seventy four percent inside the twenty, eighty six percent inside the ten and ninety
percent inside the five. So they're doing the opposite of what we're doing. What they similar caliber running back is the guy that we have, you know, and I keep telling people, you know, I was selling a gentleman earlier. You know, when you have a great talent at running back like that right there, you know, because the guy said, well, they know that they've been to run it, and I looked at him. I just ship me, hey, what do
you mean? As they said, they got full game films, and everybody had a game full game films, they about know what you're gonna do as you can put a rink in here and rinking that. But basically everybody know what everybody's doing. So you know, it's just good enough to stop it. I mean, we don't even know except for this last game when they had that big miss block. We don't know on a repeated basis, can they stop zeke because we don't see it enough to know, right,
can they be successful? You only down in a limited amount of times. I think Jerry's radio he did his weekly interview with the Flagship and this morning, right yeah, he hinting around kind of implied to yeah, we need to run the ball more when we're down inside that five yard line. So whether it's Decort, Deck Dak or Zeke to me to me, you get inside the five, it's four downs and Zeke's getting the ball four times.
I think you giving him the ball four times in a row, he can get you five yards even if they know what's coming. Yeah, as long as you don't get a negative play in there, that's the key, you know, that is key. If you can get stalemate. Man here, he'd have been there like a hammlet and get you one year. Yeah, or if you don't get a penalty, which you know, another thing that leads us right into this kirt. Another good stat You're just full of stats. Far many. Yeah, Cowboys have been one of the least
penalized teams in the league. But in the last three games they've they've had eight, eleven and nine penalties. And that's what's Also, they've been flagged nineteen more times than their opponents this year, the fourth large differential in the NFL. This season, their opponents have been flagged the least. Yeah, whoever they play always seem to come up with two or three least penalties. Then we have, Yeah, we have two or three more penalties than I I guess that's
just dumb luck, but I don't know. There's a trend now these last three games that they're getting penalized a bunch. And it's not just the number of penalties, but it's the yard as well. I mean, they're I think that same difference minus two hundred and forty two penalty yards. It's like the second most differential, it seems like. And not just us, but it seems like across the league
they're throwing more flags than they used to. I don't know that for a fact, but it just seems like watching games that and they're making I'll tell you what, this might be the worst officiating season that I've seen. They have thrown. Man, they've thrown some bad flags. They've not called some plays that you're like, what are they looking at? Like it's you know, and I'm watching all
this stuff on the sideline. And for the most part, the stadiums are getting really good about showing replays of every play because it's so easy to sit at home and watch these games at home when they show all these different angles. So they're trying to give you the same experience in a stadium, whether it's a good call or a bad call. And man, some of this stuff they show, I'm just like, what what game were they watching? Like, I know it's a bang bang, Yeah it's hard, but
it's just like it moves so fair. I mean, I think they can call penalty every play. I mean, there's always something going on the offensive line. It just happened so fast. Offensive line. They've been struggling with penalties. Is that is that coach or is that just? Is that? All? Believe me, man the guy, I believe me he is coaching. He but just come down. Are you capable enough not to not to have it? What? What? What causes that?
Is it? Sometimes the guys are better than you that you're trying to block and you just in Tyrone case, that ain't the case. So them guys are not better than Tyrone. Conversation, he's not over conversating for some reason. In his head, his clock is not working because Tyronne lose a block of dude and let him loose at the right time or before the time, and now he's holding on and he's in perfect position. So I don't know what's going on there, uh much because just gotta
work on his technique. Williams got to work on his technique. Got a couple of penalties, didn't he Yeah, but yeah, and so looney, you know, he got in bad position a couple of times and uh in the in the left guard. He just he just got to have confidence he can do it. He just gotta have a confidence to do it over and over. And can it be like almost contagious where you have one, you're like, you start thinking, oh man, I can't have another, and you
know the rest don't look at the film. You get one and they always got a little eye on you, and didn take like two or three games for you not to have one before. They don't be peeking at you all the time, do they really, Especially the penalties and stuff like that. And the other coaches be telling, hey, watch every shot he's gonna hold. Yeah, yeah, I see that. On the sidelines a lot coaches will call the ref over there. You'd be like, I'm telling you, man, watch it.
Two or three plays later. A lot of times they'll throw a flag on again. Did they ever talk to the players and just say, you know, hey, I you're you're oh yeah, man, hey man, Yeah that was almost a late one. Oh. They I'll tell you, you know, try to get you one, hey, man, keep your hands inside, you know, try to tell you. You know, not all the time, but sometime they will try to alert you. Now, did you have ways of holding that nobody he can see? Yeah, okay,
I had ways of holding nobody can see. There you go, you know, I I wanted to hear I rather holding way everybody can see it. When you played, did you get a lot of holding penalties? Noah, about two or three season two? Now about it. One. I'm saying two or three holders is all I ever got in your whole career. Whole career? Really? Yeah? Man? What about false starts? Oh my god, more than made up for the holding. I believe that. Let's go back to follows Chris and Connecticut.
What's up man, Hey, I'm just enjoying listen to you guys. That's great, great show. Thanks man, appreciate you listening. Yeah. Hey, um, it's Groundhog Day, right? Is itting sleepover? How they don't get the ball, they can't score ten yard? Like every week it seems like, man, um, you know, here's the thing. You know, we're sixteen weeks into this and I'm hearing people use the excuse. Oh, well, you know he dropped
the ball. Blah blah blah, Beasley dropped the ball. Okay, well they catch those two balls, you're still probably only ranked twenty eighth. I mean, come on, it's you know, something is something's got to change. Can I ask you this too? On fourth down? Was hold on? Man hold on? Okay, the other day I was doing a radio show and a guy said, virtually, hey, with they wouldn't have dropped this, they wouldn't drop that. I said, yeah, that just moves
them up from twenty eight to twenty seven. You know, I'm thinking the same thing now you come out and say this man old ground all day. Hey, so I was looking at that play on fourth down, you know where Zeke got blown up from behind? Am I wrong? Or was that the exact same play they ran against Philly and overtime to get the fourth down? Hmm? I don't mean I seem I think I'm not even I'm not I'm not a pro football player. I'm like, Okay, here it is. They're gonna They're gonna run it, run,
run to the left tier. They stack it, stack it right, and sure enough. The other thing is, why are we seem to be the only team in the NFL that never sneaks somebody out on a playlist or you know what I mean, they're over stacked to the right. You saw how over aggressive the defense was. Why in the world do we not ever sneak anyone out the backside there? Well did they do that with Ola Wally? And you just dropped it. I don't mean yeah, I'm fourth down, yeah,
and then and then I guess, just I guess. My last comment is just repeating what you guys are saying, is that you have probably one of the you know, I mean, you have definitely one of the top three running backs in the NFL. And you're right there at third and third down and one at the three yard line. I mean, boom, boom, give it to Zeke. Give it to Zeke. I don't know what to tell you. I'm
not rocket science. I'm with you, man, right, not right, see the same thing that you guys are seeing and have a lot of Maybe you have him eight yards deeper every time he's yards behind the line of scrimmin Chris, we gotta let you go. You make it too much sense, make it way too much sense. Man. Thank you for calling in though eight eight eight five five two two nine seven. Don't don't you hate it when you love it, but you hate it when someone calls in and you
just can't even respond. No, no, let me tell you, Let me tell you what? What? Why? I am really laughing when somebody calls in and just makes it so simple. Yes, that's what, That's why I laugh like, Wow, this dude was just if it was that easy, right, Well, we will be thirteen whatever, and it seems like it should be that easy. Yeah, it's great being an armchair quarterback coaching. Wow, he said, man, And then he closed out with the old killer. It ain't rocket side right, got got all
the answers and none of the press. He came in with the groundhog days, just with the killing, you know, fishkill. He bought some candidate kill. I got a picture for you he gave me. Well, he's showed me at pitch. I've seen it. Yeah, him out there in his waiters. Yeah, oh I haven't seen this picture. Just kill it. Let's take a quick break, call it eight eight eight eight five five two two nine seven. We got plenty of stuff to talk about, and we'll be right back on

that last call of bad Chris in Connecticut? Chris Man, don't you ever call here and make my game of the NFL's so simple? Okay, trying to put everybody out of a job. Yeah, man, we didn't have these guys with the super great minds. What would we beat today in the NFL? Kurt? What you got underwear? Picking number one in the draft? You know what? Wait before you start? Why were you so embarrassed with those other men in
here yesterday? You didn't not want to read about underwear and the boys, and you swam every day nothing against Tommy John and he was just you know, he had a special guest in here something, you know what, Whitney over there? Yeah, everybody looking Miss Whitney over there, looking so delicate like she would be if you say something wrong like that, he just break her up. Miss Whitney. Whitney be in the locker room all the time. I'm sure I wouldn't have hit her at all. But I
think the president's dad is a Tommy John's customer. Is he clearly has taken good care of his boys. Yeah, yesterday, that's why she hadn't said. What's that he's queuing me up? He wrote that, he wrote that down. Yeah, just waiting for the moment. All right, Kurt, we don't want to steal your goal. Oh that's great, Tommy John's wonderful. I've got him one today and no, edg you guarantee, I can guarantee. Okay, that's good. John dot Com Forward Slash Cowboys,
take care of your boys, like uh, mister Martins. Apparently Tommy John dot Com. I hated that Darius Lena was holly. I hated that when he took our boy holled and he was holly. That hurt me. Man. I'm like, wow, man, we gotta make a play for laden. You know what I'm saying, because that was that was a showcase of two defensive rookie of the years, and our defensive line didn't give that great effort that they normally give, and
it hurt Laton. Let's talk about that. May ask you that I have a feeling I want to know your answer. Steve will get to you in just one second. One of the male bad questions was today, So I'm ask Kurt because I know Nate's answering. Then you can chime in, Nate. One of the male bad questions was is there such
a thing as a good loss? And Zeke said in the locker room, we needed a reality check, which let which I don't know if that's just lip service, and he's say them something, you know, because all the reporters are in there, or if he really thinks, hey, we needed to be punched in the mouth to make us realize, hey, we got to go out and put it all out there. So yeah, I don't think there's ever a good loss.
You never want to lose. You always want to win, right, But you hope that this does motivate them to you know, maybe it is good. I think you run the table, you know, get refocused. Yeah, like DeMarcus Lawrence had a quote, I'm mad we got hit in the mouth today. I can't wait to hit our next opponents in the mouth. So they come back with that kind of resiliency. They got hit in the mouth, they come back and say, yeah, this is the reality check. We're gonna take care of
business now. Then maybe it wasn't good enough. You know. That's what I love about talk radio in this type of deal in pod. I love this because no matter what do guys say, it's gonna be taking out of content. You know, if you know those guys in the locker room, do you think they wanted to lose? Not like that? Especially, come on, we all know these guys, especially Zeke and and and the Law, we know them and our hot and burning they are for victories. What they said is,
we can't do nothing about this. We have already loss. Now we see what it takes week in and week out to be a winner. That I think that's what they're saying, you know. And that's the advantage I think we have us being here is we know these guys because believe me, if they were a bunch of no good losers and guys that didn't really care, they wouldn't
went on this five game winning street. These guys, you know, felt good about themselves, may may may got a little unfocused, you know, and thought that they could just turn that
intensity own. They were into a team that has the same aspirations they have, and it's just maybe a little bit more backed up than they are and and needing a little bit more, and they thought that, hey, we can handle these guys, you know, and ran into a bus saw and before they realized it, because remember now we're second half team too, and we're thinking we're gonna come out and handle them. But their matchups were better on our greater the guys we needed to play, was
I interior guys on our defensive line. They have been able to come into games in the second half and dominate. I'm talking about, uh the human law. H mccollins. All these guys been able to take over a game. They weren't able to take over this game. And by time they realized that, oh we got to reach this intensity, it was over. Yeah. So, uh, you know, I listened to the guys yesterday, you know the little thing I do. Man.
I looked at him and said, we got beat physically, you know, and before we realized that this game was over. And so I've been on some teams here at the Dallas Cowboy, Uh not at this Predict Predict particular, Um, great buildings and stuff, but at Vali Ranch, where it's like, fellas, are we're gonna even show up today? Are we gonna be a part of something? You know? And because coaches were getting threatened to be fired, coaches was getting rid
of the players. Guys wasn't really caring. And so I've been around that, and I've never heard you come out of that locker room saying, wow, man, I don't know about this guy. You know, the guys that we don't feel comfortable about. We don't even talk about them. You know, the guys that we know and feel comes about, we talk about them, and that's who we hang our hats on. D law Sean Lee, uh uh zeke Dad Tyrone, Oh man, you don't think Tyrone ain't burning. I'll tell you this.
We had just kind of put it in perspective what I hope this does. There's some teams that have so much talent they can go out and not have the intensity level that they need to win a game, and just from sheer talent they can they can squeak by and win some games. The offense, Yeah, I think this team, this team can play with any team in the league and beat any team in the league. But I think they have to be on full Yeah, they have to be mentally prepared, physically, they got to bring the fight
to whoever they're playing. I don't think this is one of those teams that can get complacent and just win games on sheer talent. But if they go in with the right attitude, they don't they execute, they don't make mental mistakes, they don't get the penalties. They can hang with anybody in the league. And that's why offense has to play better man what you know, and and I'll believe that a team should be hyping geek you know.
And I know that fatigue can set in, but if I'm gonna give any about it the benefit of the doubt, our defense has been on a high for like ten games. They've been since the first two or three games. They've been on a high like you haven't seen trying to play to their talents in a live bit of ball because our offense has been so inconsistent and they and they have never they have never held it against our offense.
They have not because they I guess they say, well, it's been years where our offenses has helped us and this our job as teammates to do everything in our power. But we've all questioned in our inner minds what happens when the defense don't play well. We saw it Sunday, Yeah,
and we have. We had this really cool plan for a piece of content this week that we were gonna film and then we were gonna release it for Christmas and after the game on Sunday, Like, I know that the guys, there's two or three guys that I need to go in there, and I asked them last week if they would do it, and they said yes, And we were playing on filming at Wednesday and Thursday this week, knowing that we lost and how we lost. I'm not even gonna ask them because I know they're pissed off.
I know they're mad, and I don't want to have to go in there and and they look at you like that, you know, and if they do it, if they do it, they're so they're so focused and mad about what happened last week. They're so focused on this week. It's not gonna be good because they're pissed off, and I don't want to I don't even want to go ask them. So we're putting. I'm gonna push it back. I hope we win this Sunday. Let's see push it back the next week. That's why I was so adamant,
you know, That's why I wound up. That's how I was so adamant last week. You know, are you sure that the red Skins and the Eagles gonna Are you sure? I said, because I don't see them losing like y'all. You know, the Cowboys need to come out like warriors and take this. And well, what was it? I was just looking at the standings from nineteen ninety two when you guys went on your Super Bowl run, You guys are pretty much had the division wrapped up. But you
went into Washington in week fifteen and lost. Yeah, so you had to. I mean, was that sort of a reality check for you guys or when you came back out and won the last two and then obviously swept you know, went on to win the Super Bowl? But was it when you and see, that's what that's the scary thing. See what you just said is that's why I went off last week when we was talking about this.
That's why I went off because he said, oh, all they got left fields and then the Giants pop up who beat us in the fifteen week you're at Washington, they beat you. We need to win this game because you're going to New York. Yeah, And you can't tell that Barkley kid. Hey man, it's time to quit. You can't tell Barkley it's time to quit. Now. That kid can be looking to gash you. And I tell you this.
They they may be playing really bad and they may have no hope for anything on this season, but I guarantee you if we go play them at noon and have not one this Tampa Bay game, have not won this Tampa there that will be a sellout crowd in that stadium because there's nothing those Giants fans will love more than to ruin our season and keep us out of the playoffs. So even if yes, who when when something who the Eagles got? Let me look at up
because see this is what I feared. This is what I feel is that we would Eagles are hosting Houston and then they finish up at Washington. See Houston coming to them, man and and and these guys and see this is what I try to tell people. They snatched Folly is pronounce his name. They snatched Folly out too soon at the beginning of the year. This guy led you to a super Bowl. You didn't come out winning, so you you you snatched Folds and put this kid
in when he wasn't ready. And it's and it's proven all year he ain't been ready because he's a he's a mobile quarterback. That part of his game is to move. Well, he spent six seven games trying to be a pocket quarterback. Now he finally moved against us and get his back twisted up right. Now he's out. Now you want to play games. Let this dude Folds do what he's gonna do. I hope they lose, but let Folds do what he gonna do. And if they win against Houston, your thing.
I'm talking about the Giants, Jiant, You're like, man, we can get the thing up one more time, Bears. The Bears lost at the Giants. I'm telling you now, the Giants, the Giants. The Giants is this far away, brother. They are this far because they got a decent offensive coordinated to head coach. I don't know how he is as a head coach, but as offensive coordinated he this far away. Brother. I do not want to go up there and have that. That's why I thought the Coats game was so pivotal.
I thought this. I'm like, and you know what, we talk about it all the time, especially Nate. Every single game in a season is important because, yeah, I think back the last since this winning streak started. Every game you talk about it's important, it's important, and then when you go out and you play it and you win it or you lose it, then you can look back and say, that's why the Colts game was important because now you got Tampa. Well, hell yeah, this one's important.
You got the last one that if you don't beat Tampa. I mean, every single game is important. But just think now every game that we talked about and it started with it with it started with it with the Eagles, we say if they if they don't win that one, then we had who next? Was it the Redskins Atlanta? And oh man, Atlanta, Oh we gotta win now? Then we who was next? At Washington? I was like, oh man,
this we found a reason for every game. The only games, the only two games that we didn't get hyped up about win and they were was they got hyped about the Saints. I think I was the only guy hyped up about the Coats. We gotta win. Every game gets bigger and bigger and bigger. If if we would have won against the Coats, now we're talking about having nine or ten wins. We ain't talking eight and whatever. We talk about nine or ten solid wins with with with
with two games left, what's our record right now? Kurt? Eight, eight and six. If we would have won last week, would have been nine. Then would have had two games to get that tenth game. If you lose the next two, what's your record? Don't start. That's that doubt. That's don't start doubt mean music. I just asked the trip again. I just asked the question, what what would the record be if you lose the next game? The doubt is
starting to set in on you. It's not I'm still in Look, there's a little black I'm still in Steve and Barter's bill. Where is Bardasville, Oklahoma? At Steve, It's in Tulsa and about twelve miles south of Kansas. All right, so about what six hours from Dallas? Yeah? Okay, where is this phrase located? It's north of Tulsa, Oklahoma, straight up seventy five and we're about twelve miles off the Kansas border. They get snow and tornadoes, snow, tornadoes and ice. Man, wow,
mother nature does not. So is it flat land? Out there? Is hilly? Give us up in our part of the country. It's it's kind of hilly. Yeah, yeah, so it's nice. The further west you go, the flattery gets. How far are you from Fayetteville? Fayetteville, we can be over to that Rogers, Arkansas, all that and probably about an hour. Yeah, oh man, So you right then? And so did you grow up there? I was Yeah, born in Tulsa. Then I went to school at Oklahoma State and still Water
and then lived up in Denver for eighteen years. And I've talked to you guys a couple times from up there. But then we back to Oklahoma so we could enjoy the warm waters for water skiing. Oh nice, here man, tell us what's on your mind today, Steve, Well, you've almost taken my thunder. I was calling to ask you when you were going to take the blame for us losing last week, Shannon, because two years ago, when we were on a roll going into the playoffs, somebody started
that thing about the hashtag finish it. Okay, and then we had all these neat videos, which I thought were cool, but we had our players all in their blinking all the time. Now, when you get two boxes out in the boxing rank and they're face off, what is the meaning of the one that blinks first? Is that when they get to the one that blinked first, when to get thomped? Yeah? Okay, And then so first we our
guys are blinking. And then we did hashtag finish it for the first week of the playoffs, so subliminally you were telling the players finish our playoffs this week and what they do they lost maybe exactly what you guys asked them to. Now last Thursday Friday, shan And says, I got to go talk to some of these defensive line players about something we're going to do special, and so now we're off focusing on social media theory. This guy's after my heart. Man continue sir, continue on, Douglas,
hang up on this nice. So what I'm begging you to do is just hold off on the social media until after the playoffs. So you're asking me not to do my job. Yeah, I need I need you to get Derek in here and tell him to lay off until we finish the season. I will go. I will leave straight from here and go to Derek's office and tell him that you just want us to lay down.
You know, I turned sixty this year. I've been watching the Cowboys since I'm ten years old, and I want to see us win another Super Bowl before hey, my days are done. May Steve, There's no one in this room or this organization that wants a ring more than I do. I promise you. I've been waiting for fift teen years thinking that I think you want to go to Mexico more than you want to see us win. Kurt, Kurt, I'm gonna kick you in the back of the head so hard you're gonna be You're gonna land up in
Bartlesville with Steve. I can just hang out together. How the water come on? Tell him to come on up and I'll pull them behind the boat. We'll do some perfect Oh man, well, anything else you want to kick me in? I already kicked me right in to Tommy Johns an hang out you want while you got us on the line, Well, maybe they can get you another pair of Tommy john since he's might be a little dirty today. Steve just going around the horn, Steve so
so so. Basically, how many times during the summon spring that you get out on the water, since that is one of the reasons you move back closer to home. I went out just a couple well about a month ago when the water was in the low sixties and the air temperature was about seventy and did some surfing
because my daughter came down to visit. Okay, so when we were up in Denver, our coldest was the water temperature was in the forties and the air temperature was in the thirties, but that was with a dry suits there. I think Nates can volunteer to drive your boat. No, I'm not getting on I'm not doing that, just because you got to be dedicated to what you're doing and you got to really enjoy what you're doing for him for them to be want of the reasons he moved
back to water. You guys wear a wet suit and you put like warm water in the suit, right, well you can or just getting the water and then your body warms it up, or just peeing it when that's another option of the day. That's the louisianaway. Well, Steve, thanks for calling in man. He wanted to take a shout at you see because you called him out on being mister doubtful. Thank you want I want us to
finish the season, Straw. I totally agree with you. We'll hold off on doing our job this players get into playoffs, all right. Thank you, Stee. Appreciate the call. Man. That was fun. Call us eight a eight eight five five two two nine seven. We're gonna take a quick break and we'll be right back. I want to hang out with the book. carry lofton Eagles fan work for now. He an Eagle fan. No mo man wad y'all got him drenched and covered the work. He can't be none but a Cowboys do it. Don't come up for rough maybe once or twice a day. He'd been working hard. So Suefila had a bad eye injury. Yes, I thought he had a I thought he hit somebody's head and got a concussion when he was down on the ground because he was grabbing his face mask. But Carry saw it after the game. I don't. I don't
know what. Yeah, Lyle Collins got poked in the eye. What did you just say, Kurt Collins? Finger got him? Okay? Um? But Carry said after the game his eye, He said it looked like something out of a movie. He had never seen anything like that before. I was like swollen shut and it was like abnormal looking at the hospital, didn't they looked really gross? Two questions. It's like an inverted bullfrog. Uh m hmmm, inverted bullfrog. Google that. Let
me see what that come out of his mouth? Oh yeah, when they when they the guts out of the fish killer? Where are you? Did you ever get poked in the eye when you played? Yeah? How does that not happen more often? Uh? There's a lot of hands because because the rules, I mean the rules. Yeah. Yeah, and guys got better hand I coordination that you practice all you know all your life aming, you know, and it's kind of you know it ain't you you You have to
be an accident or somebody really trying to get you. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. It's some guy like Ery. Where are you back in the day? Boy? He used to get you. You know. So if you can't see out of one eye, can you can you still play? Ain't that good? He ain't he? Ain't that good? Who affiliate? Ain't you don't? You don't want to venture down that road play one eye? You don't want to venture down in that role, baby, and then you probably now you
don't want to venture down it runs. Don't even play with it. Man, I can't get down in that piles punch. So he went to the hospital after the game. During the game the game, I think, really because we don't have an eye specialist, and they brought the eye specialists over from the other side, the other the opponents, and he's like, oh, we can get him out of the game. So they signed him on into the hospital. Yeah, he
needs to go your third stringer in there. No, he didn't do that, man, But now he said, man, I can't make a true read on his eye. So y'all need to get him on. Mmm. I didn't even know that. Yeah, yeah, we had a picture of it. I don't know where it went. Oh, let me see it. Well if you got it, Phil and laugh yet Bill, what's happening? Man? Oh guys, how many seconds do I have? Oh? No, brother, we got you. Come on, let's go. You got man? Okay, real quick. A couple of things, And Nate, I think
players can answer this question better. But two things. I got two players in front of me, Man, no players with about players with the R players. First thing is on the offensive side. Nate, are you of the mind that that with two games left in the season there is or is not time for them to correct any issues that Dak Scott with that that you've been you've talked about, like the you know, the hole in the ball thing and getting sacked and all that. And are
you hoping that they addressed a quarterback coach situation? Because I looked over there when Kellen Moore went over there during the game and Dak looked I've never seen him have that look on his face like before. I'm not saying deer in the headlines, just that he was just like, yeah, he was like, yeah, I saw that look too man, and uh, I would think that, you know, and maybe the camera is don't show where Callamore may talk to him more. But the one thing, you know, the holding
the ball. I think we can get past that and that's something has to work through. But but that that fumbling the ball, that that's when I can't take. Yeah, so they can fix that right away. You know, he got to be more cognizant of it's a thin line between having your team and hurting your team and holding that ball? Is that thin line? You know, we don't never know how it's gonna turn out when you hold that ball. Well, I hope that that's something that's something
like switch goes on. The other thing I wanted to ask you, Nate, And I don't know if this is a difficult question to answer, but it has to do with that that old saying on any given Sunday, And I know this wasn't the game to use that terminology because the coach matched up too well against us, But on the game, on the days when the team beats a team that's more they obviously got more talent and and it's one of those games that's won by the
team that shouldn't have wonted. What's in the mindset of of the of the team because I got that one a lost time, the team that one team that the team that lost because I as brought us, I thought there was like a collective mindset on Sunday. Yeah, when you when you started hearing stuff from players like well, we needed we needed to wake up call. That's telling me as as a fan that these guys might have been a tinge over confidence and they didn't have their
head scooter on the right before the game started. I just wonder what's in the mind when a team loses to a team that shouldn't have lost too. I ain't saying that they should have lost to the Colt. I'm not talking about the Colts. I'm just saying what I just just seemed like they they just let themselves get beat like the lost to Tennessee. Yeah, I mean they It's like I never saw would it looked like to see uh vanderschon and uh jail and get tossed around
so much. And I'm thinking, where did that come from? You know, the carrier of the defensive line. Maybe I don't know, you know, I was one of what you saw. Man. Each team is a little bit different. And I just don't think these guys are mature enough to understand what they was into until it was over. And when it was over, then they're like, oh my god, you know, and they and they looked up and they checked themselves
and hey, man, we didn't give our best. So I didn't give up my best, you know, you don't They realized that at the time, but now they realize it. You shouldn't see nothing like this with these with these uh, with these group of players ever. Again. Far as effort, uh, intensity, whatever you want to use, I don't want to use the word lack of effort, but I'm too an intensity, you know. And they're young. They're young, and now it happened. Yeah, and then I'll keep saying. I think once they realized
it happened, they knew they couldn't change it. It was a bad, ugly, ridiculous loss. And they're like, man, you know, and in their mind they're saying, Okay, we know got beat and maybe this is what it takes to get beat like this and to show you that win as good as we think we are. And uh, that's how I got to look at it as as an ex player. You that's on the way you can look at it, because these guys have never shown that type of m and the lack of intensity since Jason's been here, and
for what happened one time. I believe that's just out of character. I don't believe that. I'm not saying they'll beat Tample, but I'm not. But but we won't see that that performance again. I thought, you know, at halftime, they yeah, they were down to nothing, but they on the stat sheet they were I mean, they were ahead. You know, they had those long drives. They were just doing I don't know if they were donning, but they were moving the ball and down the field. Well ma'am.
So I thought they had a chance. But when Indie came out and scored on their first possession of third, it was like they just they're not. They haven't match intensity. They couldn't ramp it up during halftime. It's done. So they never Yeah, I think not getting those honestly, not getting that that field goal, not getting points on the board, and then that fourth down in the end zone or that touchdown the head with old Wally. I mean, think
about it. You make those two players you're up what ten? Nothing? I mean, that's a totally different thing, different mentality when we beat when we beat the Saints, you know, you know they couldn't believe it either, because his game went on. They we'll get them, right, you know. And that's what the Cowboys I'm saying. It was a second half seem like we'll get them, you know, we we we we can wrap this up. The same thing the Saints thought. But the day just went in your day, mixed with
the bad mishaps. Things ain't happening. He ain't throwing the interception, well it's interception or near interception. He ain't been sacked, well he getting sacked. You know, Oh, we've been able to run the ball. Oh the day we ain't running the ball, so and it just creeps up on it and it keeps coming next thing. You know, it's one
little thing, one little thing, next thing. You know. Hell, it's halfway through the third quarter and you're like, all right, yeah, even the defense was playing pretty well in the first half that I just thought, well, yeah, man, they ran it right down their throats coming out of the break. It was just like down they they don't have it. Well, fellas let's get out of here. So this uh back to the basics podcast, keep going, Yes, well, well we
didn't stop early for the ladies. Man, Well, I tried, and you just you wanted to talk more football because that's what you do. Now you want to blame it on well, you're right. It's Steve's fault because he went all in on me and took up all the time about how I need to quit doing my job so these players can concentrate. Okay, you're feeling how I feel a little bit kicked in the jump. I wanted to Mama gross listening. Blow them up. Thanks, thanks jaw up,
Thanks for Douglas now everyone draw him up. So thanks for we still don't really know, but thanks for cutting one drop every six weeks. Back something, Kat, Thanks for doing what you do. Pressley, thanks for keeping us on the air. We will be back tomorrow. We'll talk Bucks, Cowboys. I'll hanging with the boys. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
