and devision lines to join Dak. And what I mean by that assignment alignment. If you see something and you know it for one hundred percent, you go forward. But if it's not there, you do your assignment and you stay in your alignment. It worries me. I guess maybe some that like we just talked about Purdy, Purdie doesn't have to win the game he's got, but Dak maybe does have to win the game. And I think he can from this from this point of view. And like I told people, I say, man, that was a great

throw where he hits shokes. He went out to his left and he hits shokes for that for that touchdown, And people like, well he forced that in there. No, he didn't watch the whole play. His movement to the underneath guy and the over the top guy to decide that he was moving and a man felt him and he made eye contact and boomed, Dak hit him. That was not no uh, fly by night. I'm hoping you there. This was contact. This was what we This is what they tagged shots because this is what they had. I

believe that Dak is locked in, he's focused. Zeke know his role, Tony know his role. All I need for is for Cedee Lamb to pick it up, just a live it. If Ceedee Lamb picks it up, just to live it. Because the bigger the games, and this is what I tell people, the bigger the game, this is what I know that they are capable of taking away to run from us, are slowing us down to a trickle. Sure, your quarterback has to step up now if you got a sporadic quarterback like like part of that year was

yeah uh. And not to knock Minnesota guy, but Kirk Cousin is the same way. You can't. You can't win in the playoffs like that. But he has to stay within the system because if you stay within himself, that Dak can move around enough in the pocket like he did last week, and he can run, uh to set up a fourth

down play or to accomplish a third down play. He can do all of these things, and he plays better when he moves around. Yes, you know, under under control, not running for us. That's why I said I need far offensive line to be sound. I need for Deva's blind to be sound. Yes. Uh, let I guess. We'll get him in the seventh of eighth. We don't went through the rotation a couple of times where they look at it like they don't they don't ran all the best players,

you know, they don't try it. What they're gonna try Now, we'ven gonna lock them down and they physically have that ability to lock us down. So we have to be on top of our game. Yeah, Yeah, it seems like when we've talked about Dak and having to carry this game, but it seems like if they can't establish any kind of running game just enough, like you said, to keep it a little more balanced, keep them on their heels a little big. And if they can't stop or at least minimize the forty nine ers running game both sides, the running game could be key too. All this thing. And you know I always say dak first

and then the second thing you hear me says offensive line. Yeah, in defensive line. That the further you go in the playoffs, the more key these things become. Last year was a uh two years ago was an outlier? Was it last year when Cincinnati won with a rag raggedy ye? Yeah, that that was an outlier That ain't normally how it goes. Uh. And and as an offensive line guy, coaches are always

tell you, fellas, it's gonna be some sacks. But as long as these sacks don't shore up and uh, when we're in the red zone, are we over there on on their forty five? As long as these sacks don't show up there and knock us out of field goal range, we can live with the sacks. But what we can't live with is not having a clean pocket. These guys are long enough. I'm talking about armstead Ken law bowls. Uh uh. These guys are long enough, they're athletic enough.

All of these guys are six four six five and got long bodies, long torsos, and they can get up. If they six six, they can get you almost a seven seven two guys, Wayne Span, So we're gonna have to we're blocking the guy. This is where the young guy Smith can be dominant because he loves to take people and throw him around or grab him and try to smawl him. Well, when you got a loan guy on you like that, once you stop him and slow him down and you can get your hands really on him,

he can start dealing with this guy. So he can't you know. So they can't back down balls or close windows. Quarterbacks have windows. That's why they'll drop a five step drop. The shorter to drop, the more aggressive you have to be as a pass blocker. And it's for a three step drop, I'm punching at you and going for your knees. I'm punching at you and running through your stomach. Make your hands come down. If it's a five step drop, I'm sitting a little bit shorter, but I'm trying to

engage you. You know. And when I hit you, get you slowed down. If I can do it quickly, I'm gonna try to move you. I'm not gonna let you stand still, and so you can see the quarterback. And if and if it's a seven step drop, I have to give more and I have to and I have to be ready to dance a little longer, so I can't be as aggressive as i'm will as in them three and five step drops. So but even once I get you going a certain place, I gotta stop you.

I gotta stop you because the quarterback is needing room, needing time to set. That is why it will all you pay tackles the money. And I understand because especially the left tackle us the quarterback can't see back there. Unless you got a left hand the quarterback. Then your right tackle becomes that guy. But any offensive line coach that's worth his salt need a good center, fairly a

great center, and two average guards. You know. And I hate to say that because I played guard, But if you give me a great center, two average guards, and two nice tackles, does that sound like Philadelphia? Does that sound like does that sound like the forty nine? You get what I'm saying, two young guys in the middle, good center. That's what that's what hurt Tampa this year, that all pro center could not get it together. And so I tell people, if we can do this, we

got a great chance. But if you have a average center, we do have an average but he's a worker. Yeah, he see. I tell people I was not drafted Mark Tool and they was not drafted. Kevin Golden was a sixth round pick. Mark Stepnoski was a fourth round pick. Eric William was a fourth round pick. Larry Album was the second round pick. That was the highest guy. Yeah. But one thing we had is Tony Wise and we

had what was coach Hudson Hawk. Ye. These guys believed in work and if you got if you got office ND, it's really in the work. And and and I was. I was. I was the lacking this guy. And what I mean by that is I wanted to always be that guy. To watch extra film, I wan't gonna be the always that guy. You know. I relied on other people to do my work, to coach me, be like, oh can Nate look at this and out, you know,

because they knew who I was. But when playoff came, oh no, oh no. When it was time to make the run out the playoffs, when he got around about the tenth of Lovers game, you know, you know, I tell him. I tell him, friend, Hey man, I'll be the club a couple of hours late tonight. Like what I just a little bit late, man, hold them ladies stuff, man, So I get there. You know you're you're Lyne had You're Lyne had some meanness to a third Eric Williams. Yeah,

let me tell you. Let me let me tell you something, even william let me tell you. Let me see a quick story. We got time to tell you. I remember when Eric first came. Y'all heard me tell the story a million times. His first year, he was so quiet. The only thing that made you laugh about him was he will pull up in his gold Mercedes being and he if I if I'm on the front tag Premier and he just laughed. Yeah, that's me, Premier. That's what they called me in college. I'm like, okayre. You know,

he wouldn't talk. But then his second year came and Jimmy just gave him my job. It right. He turned into a different guy. He was still quiet with his around his teammates. I mean he was literally we had to drag it out of him for him to talk. But he would study that film. He would take his notes and he would look at things. And then I said he would you know, once I got the numb and said, well, what you see this week? He said, by the by this quarter. He was like Muhammadi, he

will call the quarter by the quarter. I'm gonna have this get frustrated. I'm gonna be either I'm gonna be beating him down. He ain't saying as nice as I'm saying. And literally, you watched the game and whenever that quarter said man, he would unleash with a head butt and you would just hear like two rams hitting up in a mill, two male rams. Yeah. I said, oh, it'stuff started and I'm serious, this is in the game. And he turned well I thought was a decent offensive line

into a great offensive line. And then with Larry Alan Kay and he got Larry, him and Larry on the same side. Yeah, he thought God was coming down the mountain as it was rumbling and thunder all the time. I'm telling you, I'm surprised you said earlier or something about a few sacks are okay? That doesn't sound like I doesn't sound like Jimmy Johnson dog custom. You guys,

do not let him touch that quarterback. You know what? Uh, the real the reality of the thing like when when we talked to about the young Smith, well, you know we gotta give up sacks. No, we don't start like that. We don't start like that. But when you get to the playoff were talking about another level. When we get to the playoffs, a blown assignment which you hope never happened, are just a guys, he's good, he's he's an all pro. He's on his next level with you, a mistake can happen.

But what you can't do is you you can't give up. Yeah, and you gotta be perfect the majority of the time, and you gotta keep the pocket clean and you gotta be on your man. The quarterback got to have enough confidence going into this game and even during the game that he can step up. If you look at Purty on the film against the Seahawks, it took him a minute before he started stepping into the pocket. He will fluster out, run to the left front, fluster out, and

it wasn't nothing there. He was feeling pressure that wasn't there because the guys were blocked. Yeah, okay, Dak is a veteran. He knows better now. He's been in there. He's been in the fire, so he knows that if he moves a little bit to his right, you know, keep them eyes down field, keep everything tight. See like they did from Seattle. He didn't keep it tight. He dropped back and had the ball way down here. Yeah,

you gotta keep it tight. You gotta be ready, you know, like he delt, popping his hips and all of that. That's what that's all about. Yeah, you get what I'm saying.
