Hangin' with the Boys: Is Everything Better?

We're gonna pick against him every week going forward. I think we inspired this team before we get into the show, though, I just want to know, Nate, are you okay? Because both of your pet cats yesterday crap the bed. But your Cox Carson Wentz, are you okay? I'm great. I mean, I love those guys, and I love the athletic ability, but never more than the Dallas Cowboys. Never. Yeah. Yeah, you know what, My man, Jordan Lewis has been playing at that level ever since I've known him. So let

the man play. Get the man on the field, you know, giving him a few more snaps. But hey, man, I'm all right. I just want to make sure you were good. We got good. But I did send a little email the flesh. I don't know if he got the name. He was all right, Oh man, how we feeling today? Good? Yeah, I don't care. I don't feel like we just beat

like Eagles. But man, let's go the first players, you know, because for what we went through for the last three weeks, it's just you know, you're saying in your mind, Okay, is these dudes, I gonna do this to us? You know? The good you know, the good thing was that we heat losing this weekends this week, so we're in good shape for at least two weeks. So we head to New York. We get to ride this now. I'm not gonna bring up the fact that they still haven't beat

a team with a winning record. I'm not gonna bring that up. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not gonna bring that up. I'm not gonna bring on what. Okay, you're not gonna bring up what? All right, this team, I think the team we saw last night as the team we thought they were at the beginning of the season.

That was the most that was the most complete game they played, and not just this season, dating back to last season, like that was a game where you looked up and you said offense check, defense, chet, special teams check, and then, as Nate always liked to put in there,

the fourth phase of the game, coaching check. There wasn't there wasn't a area in that football game last night that the Cowboys didn't didn't come through in and almost dominate in, I mean every level they that That was the most complete game this team has played, probably dating back to last year, sometime like even this year, with the first two games of the season, there was like, oh, offense is really dominated, but the defense gave up too much, or you missed some field goals. It was just it

was always something. But that was the most complete start to finish game that we've seen. Was it maybe since that forty to seven win against Jacksonville last year? Yeah, that might have been what I was thinking. That might have been it. Somebody's talking forty seven Jets a voice from beyond Yeah. Ay, but uh no, no, no, I just want to ask one question. It's when I asked one question, just one the whole show or just for now. I want to talk to Kurt Okay. I know what

I like at Zeke, no question. But now do you see what it looks like when the offense play in the first half? Yeah, okay, so I don't want to ask. We see what guys were executing when the schemes right and all that. Yeah, did they do that? Oh? You blaming it on the coaches? Oh, Jason Garrett had a masterful plan. Just said what what you just said? Yeah? This I never said it was. He said, when the scheme is right, so and they mix it up a little bit. But you know what, though, what he said

was so true. It's all based off what our defense do short fields. I mean, yeah, I just had to throw that at and get the defense. Yesterday twice it was the first time all year long, Yes, all year long, the Cowboys got the ball on the opponents side of the field. That's hard to believe. All year of hard to believe. That is even Miami head then done in a couple of times, Like think about that all year long. That was the first time they started a possession on

the opposing team's side of the field. Wow. And and you saw the results of that. Yeah, what a difference that makes too. I mean we saw it. We go down fourteen nothing against Green Bay had just changed your whole plan. And you saw it last night. Fake that his socks he had. He didn't have a great night. Yeah, scatuer, did you want some when you want? Wasn't fries with

that shape? I will tell you this though he did save He did save about a forty yard quarterback sneak for a touchdown because if he wouldn't have just held on for dear life and pulled back to the ground with him, Dak was gonna right into the end. Zo man h. You think it's more impressive in this game that they scored thirty seven points and that the offense looked like the offense we thought they were gonna have, or that the defense showed up and held him to

ten points and Tank had a great game. To me, it's a defense. I think defense was more impressive. Absolutely, yeah, absolutely came they the front flour was amazing. They had energy. I don't think we've seen all year the turnovers. I mean that's a huge difference. Not the blitz all the time, but time and the blitz. Did they blitz more of this game than they have? I don't know. For the old mother letting your boy get in now, Jayleen, I'll

say this. This is what I've been trying to say in an indirect way, because this is what I believe how you win. If you got any type defense and a quarterback that is weaponized and what I mean by using everything at his disposal, including his own legs, you

can affect games. If you look at the better teams, the ones that the eight teams at ahead of us in this playoff race, all of their quarterbacks are playing well and they have one part of the game, whether it's a great, great defense, a great, great offensive line that they can connect to and allow them to be who they are. And these teams are winning. Man. You just name any one of them and they're gonna have a great component besides that quarterback. They just spurged them

on to victories. Man, yesterday Dak did everything, and that's what I've been begging for. Let him do run, pass, have options. That is what I believe. And when the defense come like they come that that you can win games like that. It's called great situational football. He looked like the type of guy you've been calling for, specifically like one kill, kill kill, I think you tweeted right after that I mean he looked more in charge out there,

and yeah for whatever, and that's what you want. Didn't listen to the show, Is that what he's doing. I'm sure. I'm sure someone's dolled in. I wish they if they would have come out in a hurry up two minute offense, I'm waiting for it. They didn't need you. But you know who tried it and it was almost happened. There was the Eagles. They tried because they were trying to find a spark. They were trying to find something to get there, get themselves uh going. But the thing that

was was super impressive. And we don't talk about it much. We talk about on the reverse side of it, but we don't talk about it much on this side of it. Um and and I kind of tweeted something out that was taking the wrong weight. But those guys who we thought wasn't going to play at all played and played well. Tyrant had about three and foot holding calls. But but tyring lyell uh Amari Cooper, this guy didn't. He couldn't

play more than three snaps last week. And then if you watch his sluggle route this slant and go for guy who got a bad bad qualit or whatever. I was gonna ask you about that, like me not being a receiver and just watching that that looked like a work of arney. That looked like a work of art. Football Horny was that just beautiful everything from the from the time he took off the ball to his pace. Then he sold it. He sold it three steps slant rod with head and shoulders. He didn't eed to go

one or three and get out of there. It was one to three, head and shoulders, and then he bit and he got wide enough to he couldn't recover. It was It was a thing of beauty. Man, it was. out and shine. So the big guys stepping up and doing what they needed to do, and you know, everybody follows up lead. So yeah, Nate, what's your big jump off the page thing from the game is it's all about d law for me, man, and it's always gonna be about him. Because if he's bawling, and then way Quinn is playing now, and if I can't just getting any consistency from Elite College and Antoine Woods, Uh, the defense along with Dak gonna take us further than any

any two things. And that that's what I've been riding on, and that's what I'm gonna keep riding on. It's what Dak do offensively, and it's what d Law inspires these guys to do defensive and Dak offensive. Excuse me, that's it's just d law Man law, d law Bro. He hits in that Adam hit for a loss. You got a sack strip, just man, several tackles, just active active.

I'm loving it about you, jesse Um. The Pride players played with pride last night, like they played with the sense of a sense of pride, and that was what I was looking for. I thought this game would be won by just simply who wanted it. More. Teams are very similar. I mean you look at you look at the way that these teams are very similar in a lot of areas, even the way they've played this year, the injury situation. It's a very similar football team. And I knew it was going to come down to who

wanted it more? Who who? Who was going to have the group of guys that came out with a little bit more pride, a little bit more want to and for the Cowboys to have played like crap the last three weeks, to see the way they came out. They came out with a personal sense of pride about we're at home the Vision game, we're ailing, we need to win. We don't want to go into the bye week in afour game losing streak. And you saw it. You saw them come out with a different sense of pride. And

that's what I was looking for. I was looking for that, and and and talk to one of the coaches. They challenged their leaders this week. They challenged the leaders of this football team to go out and do what you do, go out and be leaders of this football team. And they responded. Tank responded, Zeke had some pep in this step, responded Amari Cooper. Every guy that we talked about who needed to step up, those guys were challenged and they stepped up. Yeah, I think mine is. You mentioned pep

in your step. I don't think y'all correct me if I'm wrong, But I don't think they did a whole lot different as far as play call, and they still ran it a lot on first down. They were just successful. I think the energy, the enthusiasm. This was a team that looked like they needed to win this game and they came. I mean the run from Dak, I mean he had a couple of runs where like it was resembling of that Seattle game where it's like I need to get there. Screw that, I'm gonna get another two

yards and get past it. Zeke had some crazy runs where it looks like, hey, I'm not gonna stop when they hit me. I'm gonna run through guys. And to me, they just you know, the energy on the sideline too. Now, obviously that helps when you go out and you get an early lead, but they just seem like a like they had energy the fans had been talking about. They looked dead on the sidelines and it just looked like they had a purpose, Like they were playing with purpose

last night. I thought it was that was just a different look. Now. The question Jesson curtain and the beard, the big question is are you mature enough to handle it? See that That's what got That's what got our room right now, one of one of the most excitable rooms here. Our room is the most excitable room. That's what in the back of our mind saying, oh okay, you know, and they asked that, Hey man, do y'all have to

have y'all backs against the wall? Right? Yeah? That means you got to lose another two or three games all backs against the wall. You know, the Emperor. You know what happens when you play like that. You either missed the playoffs I badly get you gotta understand within the scheme of what you're trying to do, is you gotta have an urgency all the time. That was kind of the frustrating thing. It's like, why why haven't we seen this? Why don't we see this against the Jets? You know, right?

Did it? Does it? Does it? I mean? Is this a team that it takes them to be doubted and people to start talking trash for them to be able to get up for a game. Yeah? If it is that, that is as they're not gonna make it. That's a terrible role to tow right there. That's that's that that will get you beat more often than not. That will get you whooped up on and that will get you home early. In January, because what happens when you're back against the wall and you lose. What do you feed

off of? Then? Feed off of what he said, feed off of that man pride, that will to want to be the best. Like I tell people, I'm never the most in shape guy. To Charles hayleo, guy that will never the most in shape guy. But you're coming out whooping me to just never cross my mind, you know

what I'm saying. And and man, Jesse kind of crossed over, like he was like I would go you know, I said I would do individual and you said, but see that's how I've always been, you know, even though I was a team sports guy football, you know, live b of basketball when I you know, when I was went too fat. And but I always believe it's right here, you're not gonna whoop me, you know, And I understand what's going on around us. You know, you know this dude got to catch the ball to do it, but

you personally was not gonna whoop me. And and that that right there, I ought to be enough. That that ought to be enough. You know, I'm better than you, whether it's in the phone game, that ought to be up. Now, Yeah, you know. That's just how I believe. There's a distinct difference between especially like in a football battle, you're gonna lose a battle every now. In the game play seventy snaps, sixty five snaps, you ain't winning sixty five straight, but

you ain't gonna whoop me. Yeah, there's a difference between oh he got me on third day, okay, but when we turn on the film, it ain't gonna be a constant you whooping up on me from the time of the game starts to the time of the game in. You may win, you may win a player two here and there. That's all good and well, but when the thing is done, you just that's the pride fact that I'm just You're just not gonna You ain't whoop me. I'll get ejected from trying to take your head off

before I let you whoop up on me. Like what happened to the kid in Atlanta? He got a hole of Aaron Donald, a running back DeVante Freeman. Let me tell y'all something. See this is where you ain't smart. Let me let me break this. It's been a long time since I saw this, and Aaron Donald knew what he was doing. Before it even jumped off. Something happened, and a play happened, and Aaron Donald got in in in Devontae Freeman's face and they got face to face.

And man, before you knew it, Aaron Donald and I know how felt Aaron Donald picked him up. Two hundred twenty pound man now picked him up off it and was looking at him shaking. I did not see that. Yeah, and and and and Freeman realized that he couldn't do nothing, and he was just looking at my got you, but you are in the game and I'm still in there. He picked him up off his feet, literally like like this, Another two hundred and twenty pound man was lifted off

of his feet. I looked at say, boy, and even the guy who was announcing, even the guy who was announcing the game. Oh, he's everybody, Yeah yeah, yeah, his feet. He's trying, he's trying to find some trash. The dude who was or not? Who was? Who was? Then alas of the game, say, I can't blame Freeman when you're helpless. Oh it was ugly man them ten seconds and see how that that's on the air. See see I would not want that. You don't want that tape. No, you

ain't even do that to men. Go away, that's whatever, that's the whole world. Twitter. You trying to handle me you didn't do that, or you want to get to me that you ain't do that to him. And we're grabbing guys, and Dak was getting his Sunday Night Football and being interviewed by Michelle Tafoy You and we wave him down and he runs over and the first thing he does he looks in the camera and he says, don't guarantee nothing, baby. Yeah. And I'm like, if that doesn't sum it up and let you know that was a little motivation, Like, yeah, they brought that into that game with him. Absolutely. I mean for a coach to come out publicly, another coach

come out publicly and say we're going to get to win. Now, I get why Peterson said it, and I don't fault for saying that he needed something to try to spark his guys. Problem was that didn't do it for them. It sparked the other guys. Yea. And so when you go out on these when you go out on the limb and trying to publicly motivate your team, understand the

day and time that we live in. That was playing on every station, on every network, and was in every clippings and nationwide, and it resonated through the locker room and Taint spoke about it. And trust me, when when Tank spoke publicly about it to us, he had already spoke properly with this guy's and said, and in very colorful words, I'm sure Tank use saying about this. Mu said boo about who man we better blue blue blue blue Bloop day blue blue blue boop blue Saturday night.

And sometimes those little things. You you poked the bear and you you wake up sleeping bear. And and it seems like at even hybrid Na so nails ain't stopped rowing. Yeah, it seems like it worked. Yeah, if if Lawrence's words were the more motivating for the team than Peterson, because almost like he had he spoke out and he's like, now I got to back this up. Yes, like Jesse said,

sometimes guys be speaking to themselves more than running their team. Yeah, I just you know, you know, because my wife, because she had seen me. I'll be driving sometimes I'd just be sharing. She's like, what do you think I see? Babe? Now they got you scared to cheer for him, cowboys. I man, I keep going back to that. Man. It's like we got fifteen days and stead of being decide and a lot of shows to say, these cats for real,

can they run out six to seven? Because I'm not joking, go back and look at all the teams that won, even the team that lost in Seattle, and it ain't too many cheeks in their armor. So we we're trying to run down these teams with win out to win because it can't be back and forth. Can't be no more three game losing street, can't be even a two game losing street. You're trying to run folks down the first one to ten. San Francisco ain't got four more games to get the ten? What's it? Kind of got five?

And uh, what are the Green Bay? They six and one? Yeah, it's a lot of teams got three and four games. We got a ways to get to ten. And I tell you what the Eagles, we looked at their schedule earlier in the year. They ain't going nowhere. This is gonna be a dog fight. Yeah, And I don't think I think you got to win this division to get in the playoffs, right, because I don't think you're gonna get in the SEC. Is the NFC, I mean, pull up the NFC you're talking about today, Yes, sir, put up.

And that's if you know you're talking about Seattle, you're talking about the nineer, you're talking about Green Bay you're talking about the Vikings, you're talking about Zins, talking about pull up the conference and then if you pull up the conference, you get ya all the teams that the head of us. Yeah, San Francisco six and hold it out. Man, car let's talk about it. What do you think about him? Is they for real? I didn't think I didn't think they were. But they keep doing it, man doing get

despite Jimmy Garoppolo ain't playing good. He get his numbers, he ain't playing good. But they got a defense. John Lynch has put together defense almost very eerily similar to the one that he played on when they won the Super Bowl in Tampa Bay. Yeah, John lysch No's defensive. He got the Jokers running. Yeah, next scene, Saints or six and one without without y'all and without and without Kamara last night they're doing it with defense. Imagine when

they get Breeze back, what that's gonna look like? Bro. No, they're doing the offensively too. But it ain't exciting, right, see that forty nine. It ain't exciting. It's like Nate says, it's not fantasy football. Yeah, they scored how much? Yesterday? They scored thirty points? Yesterday? They scored twenty seven unanswered. Yeah, so they can we say this. We put Bill Belichick

in his own category by itself. It's like we're talking about the great, like you put Michael Jordan's and everything else comes after that, right, So like who's the best, You go Michael, and then there's everybody else. Sean Payton is a bad man, like like Bills in his own class. Right, It's like who who else? It's like Bill and then everyone else? Yes, sir, yes, sir, Sean Payton man for what he can do as far as putting a game, playing together, executing it. The end game changes the out

getting that man that's a bad man. Let him do it for another five to two years. And I think it was he still got six rings though that helps first and third it was first and thirty or first and twenty five. Did you see the play he run? M He he pulled a quarterback out of this this way, tossed the ball, handed the ball going this way, and ran an option to the next guy off first. Oh with Taysom Hill. Yeah. First that it's those five or six plays that he would set you up for and

he would tend his team. We can't miss this is a deal breaker. If you miss this is a deal breaker. But if you do hit it, it's gonna take us place. And we've been before. Now what's the next team, my friend, Packers. That's six and one and that's what our weapons. Thank you this this guy told management because they told him a year earlier before they signed. I like what he did a year ago when he told management, when they told him a year before he signed his contract. He walked into a meeting with coach McCAT McCarthy and and and the gym and tried to sit down and say, hey, this is what I like. They looked at him and say, we do the coaching and scouting and you do the plan. From that day on, he walked out and said, well we will see in the end. And last year he sat on the bench

just looking around. Okay, you will not get my magic and we'll see in the end how this works out. They got rid of the coach, pulled in somebody to understand what he wanted, and got a defense. If you're green, baby, you try to make a move before the trade deadline, go get a receiver. I wouldn't. No Vante Adam's gonna get it. Well, I wouldn't, just would you? Would you? Big though? If if you're speaking about Antonio Brown, no new no, no, no, I would because that's great things.

That's the only thing out that's going to give everybody else would be just what he got on this team, and they would have to be, you know, integrated into that culch where I have got guys who are already here and understand what I want. The next team is one that we may be on a collision course with again Seahawks five and two. Wilson's MVP that right now, is that the next best thing to Aaron Rodgers? Or what is that the next best thing to Aaron Rodgers?

Or what they won? They won a World championship where he was the secondary player. The next one they win will be with him being the primary player. He's done with Flackle and a few others could not do. They got rid of the defense. Basically, they broke down and running back. Basically, they got so so wide receivers. But the one constant is this dude right here. Vikings are five and two loving with Zim doing to I'm loving with Zim doing gotta play straight. And then the Panthers

are four and two. They won four straight? What I'm loving? What with the coaches? What do they do? They've already announced that starting this this week, already Theredy announced that Kyle Allen is a starter this week. So ian it wins again, you can't you can't let me tell you what you do if you want to play that dumb game and put him Cam don't get but two interceptions.

Two interceptions, but he's gonna have to throw three or four touchdowns because anything less, you ain't the quarterback, bro, Because this dude ain't making the mistakes that you're making. Your athletic ability is waning. Now it's here. This is what This is what I fear for running quarterbacks. This is what we will be saying in a year or two, we'll either be saying, uh, Lamar Jackson is growing and

becoming a great quarterback. We're gonna be like, huh so, here's my here's my here's my I guess my devil's advocate to that situation. Because there's there's really not much tape out. There's a couple of games worth four or five gallons of Kyle Allen, right, and we saw that here with our own quarterback. After that first season and then the next year, people were like, oh no, we know he can't do X, Y and Z and it

cost us. But also with what that is, that's kim put enough in the like this was your he was the MVP of the league, took it to a super Bowl Bowl. Has he not put enough in the bank for you? For what he's healthy to come back and say that's my job, like you know, like I look at that as a player, I don't know about that, and that's what But then take him to a super Bowl like this dude took you to a super Bowl

and was the league's MVP. And I did all that on the on the strength of my body being beaten, battered and bruised and at the first sign of a little bit of hope. You you's been two years. I've been playing. I played hurt for you. I played with the shoulder, I played with the foot, I done all this for you. I'm listen, I'm just playing. I'm just saying like, at some point in time, do you walk in in your horns then you go dunk. I don't get this, give me a shot to get my job back.

I'll tell you what, It'd be really interesting because he is the face of that team. Like, he has a big personality. I can't see him sitting on the bench. He won't be like Eli. Eli's accepted his faith, right, you know. But Eli is the same way. As long as I always thought, as long as he was in a uniform for the Giants, he will always be the starter, right and all. And I thought that for Cam and into a into a very little extent, I thought that for Tony. But guys that are one Super Bowl have

sweat equity. That's why I say, even if they played dumb and say, okay, this is your job, Cam, he got to know that. I gotta read defenses better. I ain't been doing this, but I got to do this now because they're gonna ask me to throw this ball. The man, it's the little running back that's yeah. Yeah, They're gonna beat him up in two years and find him another man. But right now, that's the man. And what Alan does is the receivers are loving him. See that.

That's what I keep trying to tell people. If you mess round and let the receivers start loving you. That's how, that's how, that's how Dak slipped in that now because the receivers start loving Dad and you know at the end of the day, you're going to throw the rock to them. And when Jason Winn say, man, this this young boy, man, he got something that kind of sealed his own boy faith. I'm being honest now, man, I mean, I like, I'm gonna be listening, but I'll be listening.

Who got the next Kurt? The Cowboys and Rams at four and three? Now, you talk about this team, tell us about this team, these Rams, they're Jacquelin High two. They're Jacqueline High two and three lost three, they're super. Now, the one thing that you try to say is they're gonna have one of the best defenses in the league. But if you're a single hot safety, you're going to be anywhere between fifteen to eighteen yards.
