Next flowing down the sideline, he is hanging with the boys, presented by wing Stuff where flavor gets its wings. Now, your hosts, Jesse Holly, Kurt Daniels, and Nate Newton, what's going on Cowboy Nation? We are here for another show Tuesday. What's today's date? December twenty seventh.
That's a live look at the Tostitos Championship Plaza outside in front of the Ford Center where it is still cold, high fifty currently forty four degrees. The good news is, weatherwise, this thing going up a little bit for us in the DFW. We're getting back to our normal self tomorrow. Yeah,
we're getting back to our normal selves. Kurtain, We're getting back. No, no, listen tomorrow sixty seven, Thursday, my favorite number, sixty nine, Friday sixty five, Saturday sixty nine, Sunday seventy three, and we ain't got no game on Sunday, so we can actually go to church and get some brunch stuff like that.
Seventy three sixty eight on Monday. So we're getting back to what we you know, we gotta have this little this little breeze come through here like everybody else, but we're about to get back to what we normally are in the temperature wise. This segment brought to you by Wingstop where a Flavor gets its wings. The Dallas Cowboys are taking on the tent to see Titans this Thursday night in Tennessee. One of the things that I want
to talk about today. While Jerry came on the flagship station this morning and said that this team is relatively healthy and there was no injuries to report, one Tony Polar popped up on the injury rereport yesterday, what a thigh injury, And Mike McCarthy said, we're not gonna do much today. Just walked by them guys out there practicing, and he said, but Tony will be a part of that. So I don't know on what capacity that he'll be
a part of that today. But that's a note to look at when you talk about Tony Pollard being what point, because you're unless the Eagles fall apart, you're probably the fifth seed. At what point do you balance out reshton guys? And like Tennessee's getting ready to arrest a bunch of guys. Sounds like did the Cowboys do any of that? The hard part is you have the first game up, Like if it was a situation where you were playing later in the day on Sunday, Yeah, then maybe you can
make a decision. But you gotta still play as if the division is still near because Philly don't play until Sunday. So you have the game Thursday, so it will be more so of a resh for Washington, the Washington game if Philadelphia your wins on Sunday and you went on Thursday. I think that that's the part. How you gotta look at it because you have this this short week. Are you guys believers and rest as overall or do you think they need to play the ramp up for the playoffs.
I used to be that guy that just played, just play, But if it ain't like like for these guys, we are playing Tennessee Titan, and I hate to say this involves me, but what are they playing for against the Cowboys were in Regardless of whether you want to lose or whether Jacksonville wouldn't lose, it's still gonna be about that game next week. Yeah, And so if you ain't making yourself better for that game next week, healthy and strong and righteous for that game next week, that ain't smart.
So in this case for them, but for us, I'm with Jess. You got to you gotta go in this game trying to get it done just in case that thing fall apart. For Philly, you gotta go in this game, you know, with your guns loaded, you know. And for Mike McCarthy, he came out and he said, you know, one of the things that we talked about, when you're looking at the injury portion of this thing, it's more
so the defense. The offense is relatively fine. Tyrann still, Tyrn Smith still working through some things, Tyler Smith has his struggles, but but injury wise, the offense seems to be the healthiest. It's the defense side of the ball. And most importantly, you look at a guy like Michael Parsons who's laboring and bothered by something. Layton van Durst seems like he's gonna miss another week of football, and the more that you have to go out there and
play game, things can happen. But the thing that suffered the most due to these injuries, I think for the Cowboys has been the past rush and Mike McCarthy came out and asked about are you concerned there worried about the pass rush and he said he's not worried about the rush, but said that the defense can improve their rush lanes. What does he mean by that? And I think that goes back to the last quarters of the
last game. And watch our young alien just you know, laser himself inside of the guys and see how I tea that up for you right there? Ya, But you're you're welcome. You're just talking yesterday about he kept he kept going to the inside, but that that's his own decision. They're not running stunts. He's not take off on the inside and make it self tired. That's all he did. But that's not I mean, he's just freelance. Freelance, freelance. Yeah, And this is what Mike McCarthy means by taking proper
rush lands. And Michael isn't the only one we talked about Michael because it was the at that time, it was the most glaring one when you see him have to bang a time out for the last player of the game because he was tired. But that is boys him and his fall. But that has been that has been an issue for the Cowboys all year long. And we heard guys come out earlier in the year and say that, you know, hey, do your job. There's a
there's you know then, Mike Mike McCarthy. But Dan Quinn said that there's a it's a privileged to pass for Russ And all that comes down to is guys not doing the thing that they're supposed to do. Assignment wise, persons was run of the biggest outspoken after player. What's he doing now? Doing the thing? You can't worry about the linebackers. Yeah, I ain't that linebacker he got But you know what the biggest problem the Dallas Cowboys have and still have and have had it for the last
seven years. They have not stopped the run. They have been very fortunate and and that is what wears you down. That is what beats you down. Because teams can just play football freelance style and they can throw when they want, run when they want, throw when they want. You You're not dictating nothing by making them become one dimensional one way or the other. And so why said, why is that still the problem? Why would they stop stop? I did it again? Guys two days in a row. Off
my game. Good, it's gracious. Sorry, I'm off my game. I gotta get back on my game. He is Nate Newton, that is Kurt Daniels. I am Jesse Holly. Together we are hanging with the boys, the sports talk equivalent of Breil. People feel us when we speak. I gotta get back on my game. I gotta get back. This is a vacation. Before we was it just hit me. Sorry before we roll it roll the show back for ten minutes. Sorry,
but nah man, but I'm serious. The biggest issue this team has and and and In today's NFL, one hundred and fifteen hundred and twenty yards shouldn't hurt you. If you keep the average around three seven three three nine, it shouldn't hurt you. But we ain't doing that. You know, we're giving up one hundred and forty, one hundred and fifty, you know, almost five yards and can't harry. So it
ain't You think it's technique and fundamentals not talent. I don't know now, I do not know, because you can't. We can't sit here at the fifteen games and say they got the talent they got to want to because it's happening in every game. It's happening in every game.
The game on the line, Philadelphia's going on that last drive, they need a touchdown, and they're not keeping your assignments at that point, you know, some Here's the thing about fatigue, the famous quote goals fatigue will make cowards of us, all right, But when you're tired, you sometimes mentally like Michael.
I'm not speaking for Mica, but I know at times when you're the guy, Mike is thinking, if I can just lay this haymaker, if I could get this sack, if I could just get this strip, sack, fumble, we can go home. We could just go So sometimes the great ones they kind of go off script and they're trying to just throw for that bolo a maker. If I connect with this, just I connect with this he out,
and we can go home. I think sometimes Michael gets away from technique and gets to full out athlete, and then that you lose containment, you know, you lose responsibilities, you lose what you're supposed to do as a player. And the fortunate thing is that didn't hurt them. The unfortunate thing is is that when you go to that well, one too many times against a significant better player than Gardner. Minshew, that's when it hurts you because you can't think in
your mind and I'm gonna go do this. And if you go, like and Jalen Hurts is offering in the corner, you know you should see guys like Troy Polamalo and and Ed Reid do certain things in the game and elders, but like, yeah, I'm going and it's off script you when you decide to do that, and there are certain players in this league who have the outright privilege to do so. I've been a part of teams like that.
I know you've been a part of teams like that where guys though completely off script, you gotta be right, like, you can't go off script and be wrong, and it costs your football team. So for Micah, it's going off script and taking three inside Russian when you're supposed to have the outside rush you got, you got. You're fortunate this time around, But what happens the next time you think I'm Michael Parsons, I'm the better athlete, I'm gonna I'm gonna gonna make a play, coach, and you aren't.
You aren't successful and you are beating. That's the type of stuff at this important time of the year, as you get into those playoffs, you have to be precise in those areas because every single every single play matters, Yeah, because it could be the deciding factor of a game one way or another for you or against you. So and so the deal is, you don't want Michael Parson beating Michael Parson. And what I mean by that is
you did you haul off inside like that? And I would say, you realize that Ja Jaylor Herst is you on that offense? Yeah, you know what I'm saying. So Michael Parton just got beat by equal Michael Parson. I just you know, the little things like that, you know. And I saw him after that second time he took off inside. I'm like, boll he get he he's making this self work extra hard. All he gotta do is rush outside and he and this dude and if he fall, if the quarterback go up in that gap, he falls
right back in on him. When you rush in ten yards and he got a rush out twenty yards, you wide open trying to make that play, because that's what he was trying to do, make that haymaker. And it takes extra effort to make that Haymaker. He did that two times. When he's doing that to create more work for the other guys. But the other guys are kind of out of it because they don't have a speed like him. His superpower is his speed and they don't
have that super body. They're looking over there. They already know they limited six succeeded not to get him this time around. They all see what I would, you know. But the fact guy like me, I was seeing Mike could shoot down in in that quarterback take off, I'm automatically going off from my angle. I'm automatic starting to run down field. I ain't running over the way. Yeah, that's the waste of time. Chris Simms came out and he said that the Cowboys are too small on defense. Nick,
would you think that's a true statement. Yes, he gave follow up to that quote. He gave two reasons. One, they have to put more guys in the box. Stop the run, which opens up many man. You know, secondary is more exposed than two. They just got one out more. Yeah, because you're two big guys are not doing the job. Your two big guys cannot two gap like Hankins could take the guard be head up on the guard, jam him back two yards and make a play in both gaps A and B. These guys ain't doing that, Osa
Bohannan and I got him, or they're not. They're not jamming guys up reading and making that play out to the tackle. If you had two guys that could make them plays like that, now your deeva's Vince. Just you sit outside and just turn loose. But you don't. Is that size issue or that's a that's a one two issue both handlingway three hundred about thirty five pounds. That's a won two issue, bro, it's a good point. Yeah, size matters. Yeah, she said, Yeah, I ain't going there.
You don't want to go there. You thought about it though, You thought about it. Thank you, you you thought about it though. Whatever? Man whatever, All right, man, let's go to our first commercial comp of the show. On the other side of the break, we talked to our boy computer. We see what he got for Christmas and his thoughts on the Cowboys taking on the Tennessee Titans. That's his hood, his his his his his people down there in Tennessee. This
is hanging with the boys. We'll be right back. Bobby Q. King. I'm dak Press quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. Blockchain dot com is one of the most trusted ways to buy, sell, and trade crypto. Welcome back to Hanging with the Boys. This Tuesday, December twenty seventh, as we get prepared for the Cowboys to take on the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night football, we go to the phone lines and we talked to our boy computer, mayor Christmas computer. What's going on? Mans, gentlemen, done, we're doing well to Santa bring you anything special this year?
Oh yeah, I gotta do, White girl. I'm just we just got no all right, man, you know, briefly, tell us your thoughts on Cowboys defeating the Philadelphia Eagles this past Saturday. It was great. It was great. I mean to me, the best thing about that game with Dak Prescott. You know, Dak is seven to one against winning teams year. Uh, the Eagles. Only playoff team the Eagles beat out year has been the Cowboys in Minnesota. Every other game one
that scares all those teams. They've beating the ships on the five hundred, uh most of them. John, I'm not even gonna make the playoffs. They had to play the Bengals. They didn't had to play the Charges like we did. They didn't had to play none of those teams that
had those quarterbacks. So if you look at the quarterback, then we had to face in the playoffs, Dak had to go against Jayala Hurts, which this is his first jis play well, and y'all say he don't have turners, but he had two picks against the last time he played the Cowboys, Trayvon picked him off twice. And he is not yet and Nick Treana is one and three against Dak Prescott. Uh, now he ain't be here. Now he ain't beat that kid. Nick Terry ain't beat that.
He beat the Cowboys, but that was Cooper Rush. He hadn't he hadn't beat that game. And you know we are small. And then a lot of people want to criticize this team, which I got around. This has been only the second year with his co just there that first year that Kovie and that really didn't count because they're really committ with the players that can't hand nobody out there. So d this is only the second year.
We're probably gonna end him having thirteen twelve wins with a second year coachings down, and see the reason why we small old defensive because of all that crap Rod Ma Brod Marionery did with all them small on linements. So you know it's gonna take a little while so Hankers will be back. The other guy that we picked up in Philadelphia head, we're gonna stick him in there. So when the playoffs started, all of them, the small guys not gonna be in the rotation. You ain't gonna be.
They ain't gonna be switching deal all out and Hankers out doing all that road take the first hand they needed the guy needed because if you lose, they know, ain't on another game. So Hanker's gonna need to play the first two or three snaps on every snap the whole first half of that first playoff game. And then if we get past you know, Tappa, whoell, we gotta play on Carolina. We come around and do the same
thing the second one. We're gonna be all right. And if we mess around and win the super Bow, it's gonna hurt a lot of people feel us. And just you were saying that we couldn't get two people going, but if you think about Dank was running the ball, so we did have two people in offense actually making play because Da had for to some yards and the scrambles. Tony had sex one yards and receivers, so he did
had two people going beside CD. And then now with t Y, now we could put nor Brown on the bench and just use him for blocking schemes stuff like that, and and put him back, like Michael Irvin said, Man, you know the problem to kell him Moore was having. I think Mike McCarthy just called him more the players is he wanted to make it by him and how smart he is to go to the third or fifth receiver and when a game on the line, go to CD,
go to your best square. I stay on the field, don't make a play for where he could get the ball right, you know, you know if he made mistake, cool, that's all on us. But you know, all we go to your best player, like when y'all when y'all wanted, like Michael Irvian switched over and then Alvin end up hitting that long because Michael plopped though because he thought it was coming to him. And then then Alva Harper
got opened and he hit that long pass. You know, he just you gotta go to your main I know we're small on defense and everybody wants us to win now, but you gotta realize this only the second year of this coacher staff put us in some bad predicaments. With those players that they picked, you know, they had a
heart and they want gritting. Okay, So looking forward, what what do you what do you see for this Cowboys team as they head down to Tennessee, your neck of the wards to take on the Titans with the type people don't know. I got so many people I'm not going to the game because they're getting a little clod. I don't want to go up to sit out in the air and get even more sick because I gotta
work it. We can't. But Memphis is full. Mempers had more Cowboy fans than Dallas does, even though women and Memphis a Cowboys fan, so that they're gonna be almost sixty to seven percent full of Cowboys fans. It's gonna be like a home rounded folks. They're gonna be crump, it's gonna be We're gonna we're probably gonna put a whopon on tense this weekend because they're gonna be resting players too. We're probably gonna put a whopon on end.
And we come back and we get that little minute back since we play on a Thursday, and then they'll probably end up flexing that game. Washington Sunday night game or something that gives a little bit more time to risk, and then we'll be ready gonna lock them out the box and we'd be gone ready that going that first we can play golf, at least make it to the NC Championship game, and then we're gonna have to play good ball. Weren't even making no punches with the pad.
Three or four weeks, nobody has said nothing about the pumps. True, you know, nobody's even saying nothing about that. And nobody's mentioned the player that we you know, we we was down l V. Hankins, uh uh, the under Deepert, then Armstrong he wasn't he even played, you know, he didn't play.
But you know that that corner that we got that we picked up all waivers he gonna play with, right, So that's kind of gonna fick that spot over that what Eddon Wright was, Andre brown wasn't because they taller and they'll be the matchup against to receive like a J. Browning handle good games. Son travel pretty much put the class from himself of that. A little double movie got him with Eagles. The Eagles got the Eagles. They taught all that crap them guys home or fun. But like,
wait a minute, but all this time, everybody they billy looks. Yeah, they got a few players over there, which I can't respect. They gotta they got a great offensive lad over there. You know what I'm saying. They got some big boys defense. But you know we're gonna we're gonna get in the group. We don't give it our best shot. We ain't going out on the when we ain't going out like no Park. We're gonna we put our plans on just like they do if they happened. When you get to the playoffs,
get to play a complete game where everybody played. We had one of them all year. At some point they're gonna have two or three them in a row. They're gonna mess around having the playoffs. The last time. Mike McCarthy want a super Bowl, he went in at the fifth seed. You want one? It all all right, We'll give us a score, give us your score, probably thirty five is the team or something like that. Then weekend go, we're probably gonna get up on them and then start
resting some players. All right, all right, brother, we appreciate you man, Thank you. Ye sounded strong, Shannon, say hello, Tell him, I said, what's up? All right? Computer made some good points right there. He made some good conspiracy theory. Not this just white man white. But but to Computer's point, you know, when the Cowboys play good football, their penalty
free football team. Yeah, I was just looking. They've had the last four games more than four penalties, no more than four penalties and only one on offense in each of the last four games. That's what they look at. Tight like you, thank you, brother, appreciate you. Yeah. No, I mean, I don't know what's the cause. I don't. I don't know what causes it. I don't know what changes it, you know, for them to be undisciplined certain areas of the football games. I don't know what causes that.
I don't. You don't like you can't go into a game. Sometimes there's certain penalties that you're just like, oh man, that's just a dumb penalty, that's a that's a super penalty. Whatever. But sometimes the Cowboys you look up and it seems like when the penalties come for them, they come in. Wait, when they come they come in, it's like they're gonna, they're gonna they're gonna bring the house down there. Keep
it on the old seven. I had a couple of fans that they have written in and asked this that probably not every play, but now you're you. I've been hearing and they've been hearing, you know, Dachill go here we go right before the snap, like he'll call out his plays whatever the he goes, here we go, you know, hit it and I the question they've been asking is that because they've had so many pre snap penalties and then they had to flat simplify it and say, okay,
we're ready, now we're going. Now. Quarterbacks that all the time. Okay, yeah, no quarterback sometime again they'll come a line of scrimmage or they'll hit you with the easy, easy, easy, kind of get a good look now, and that's kind of like all right, here we go, all right now, now we're going you know, so like now getting ready? Yeah yeah, so so no, that's not that's not nothing to do. But you looked at I've heard it all my life, all my life. Rather, let's go out. I used to
look at like it's your fault. Jump. I couldn't say that. You look at because when the quarterback comes to the line of scrimmage and you always see him, you know, fifty five fifty four. That's idea him Mike, right, he's letting guys. Let everyone know, hey, guys, yeah, four down linemen. The guys that I point to, Yeah, y'all, y'all, y'all sort that out. That's the fifth guy, right, So we'll do three four five offensive linemen, four down linemen. I
did him, Mike, fifty five fifty four. The quarterback letting the offensive lineman, the running back. No, that is the fifth guy, right, This is the fifth guy that we're gonna add into this count. So you the lineman everywhere, So the lineman then they start the count all right, hey, hey we we son are gonna come and say over on right, depending on the DF. Okay, so you're walking up to the line and you're standing up you as lineman.
You can see you walk up to the line. And the first they do when we first get down, the center looks real quick and if it's a strength, if it's three guys on this side, he'll say over and I'm not I'm giving you a full man front. If it's three guys on this side, that say over. And then the quarterback comes say fifty five and he give me standing back over me. But that's where we're gonna start. I count from that center may not even go play side. Now he may come back here and help me. So
we blocked down. You know what, if you're then in your crouch and all you can really see is that guy in front of you, and they shift in the back and you can't see her. If they shift in the back, a lot of times we still keep the same guy. We're gonna we're gonna know where that guy because he can't get us so far away, and they keep the same guy, and your back is the one who cleans it up. Yeah, OK so it's like, hey,
this was greater. Yeah, so like so like sometimes when they when they have those late chiefs, it loves late movements. That's why good back in the backfield here. You know, he'll kind of say he'll scan. You'll see the back called scan. He'll come up and he'll boom and he's like, I'm looking here all the way back or I'm here all the way back this way. So your back is the one who cleans the garbage. Help at the end of it. That Zeke was so good at the beginning,
and yeah, because he can scan real well. The thing the thing that the thing that messages you up is that very thing we just went across. Just think, now I got seventy one instead of seventy seven out here, and so now me and him, me and seventy seven are worked all week. Hey, if this guy shifted over just slightly over here, I'm gonna need a hand. You know, well you forgot that. I ain't seventy seven number, that's
seventy one. So now you're kind of sitting back because you know you're gonna get this hand or even get a chance to turn back this dude, even give your hand this dude running past. Yeah, that's why I don't like musical linement, because it will hurt you in critical situation.
And today's point. A lot of people don't understand that sometimes, but just getting that hand and that like you know, yeah, you know you don't understand when that joke about a hand dude, Yeah he starts when that when that dave it's a lineman, start bearing down on you. I need that hand to kind of just make him turn this right, give me a chance to get set and getting back on him. And if I don't get that, and I took a because once he once he gets an upfield
shoulder on me, all I can do now was grab him. Yeah, that's all I can do now. I can only grab him because I can't block him. That's three hundred some pound two on eighty something pounds coming this way. Yeah, and I'm off balance. I remember, I'm backing up. He coming forward. So once he gets even with me, and I ain't got that hand inside, he leaving. So all I can do now was say, either grab him, take the holding penalty, but like throw it. Yeah, ain't. I
ain't never been. I ain't never had you know, I ain't never had enough to tell the quarterback, you know, because they act to me. If you highlight the quarterback and he look over, you're gonna get hit, get hit right in the face, gonna get hit from the side. You turn it right into you started running back there like he gonnae he gonna gonna fumble this one. Let me let me get back up. Wow, all right, we're gonna head into him. Oh. travel dot com. Back hanging with the Boys, Come on, welcome back to hanging with the boys. I didn't hear myself. I didn't you know. I was enthusiastic and everything I had good, the good inflection going on in the voice. Welcome back with the boys today. Yes, everything is just not flowings Tuesday. We're back from the break. You know, we hungover from the Christmas break. Cowboys taking on the Tennessee Titans. Let's let's break this down a little bit.
We'll get way more into this tomorrow, as tomorrow will be our last day before the game got Wednesday and the games on Thursday. We'll be back again on Friday. And as I said before we went into the break, if there's one player that I'm looking at on this team as a whole, yes, it's you know, it's always gonna be Derrick Henry. But if Derrick Henry does not play, the one guy who can wreck Christmas and Easter and Thanksgiving and your birthday is Jeffrey Simmons. This is from
dak neckl. The Woods went to Mississippi State. Jeffrey Simmons is one of those dudes where if Aaron Donald wasn't in the National Football League, you would probably regard him as the best defensive lineman, interior defensive lineman in the National Football League. I'm serious that he's that good. Seven and a half sacks this year, I think twenty something, twenty five, twenty six tackles, seven tackles for losses. I mean, this is the dude who, when you watch it on film,
they line him up fifty three tackles. They line him up up and down the defensive line. He'll line up at defensive end, nose tackle, he'll shade, he'll head up. I mean, he's all up and down that and he
could eight issues. He's one of those guys where if you ain't set right, if you ain't doing what you're supposed to do, if you're a little light in the pans, if you're a little slow on your step, Jeffrey Simmons is one of those dudes who is what I like to call a football playing dude, and he can get after it. So that interior offensive life you're talking about, your your your um, your McGovern's of the world, your um, be honest, is of the world. You gotta hunker in, Nate.
We're talking about it before we went to the break. Those calls, those and listen to dog like I'm listening. They were talking to mc I think it was brought up the same mcgoverned struggling last week against Fletcher Cox and those guys. So how do they help him this week? Two things they can do. Two things that they can do. You can a lot of times misdirection get guys going one way. You can go the opp away. It's at times it becomes a little bit difficult depending on what
you're calling. And then I should let you be talking about this more than than me. But you'll see when we have a lot of success, we have sense when we start pulling our guards, pulling our tackles. Thank you, am I right, thank you? And only time you want to get up, and only time you want to get up any time any type of Pro Bowl, Super Bowl champion offensive linement tells you, thank you. It's something that you're talking about, and I shouldn't have me talking about this.
I jumped the gun. The thing you can't let Connor do is one on one repeatedly try to run block him, not repeated, not one on one repeatedly. You want to give that missdirection and if you can, if you can't, have a couple of guys blocked down on him, you know, uh and get outside, like you said, get outside, make the rest of the defense um strain. I mean, I ain't seen enough film on this team. I'll be breaking it down to to night and tomorrow a lot. But
I'm gonna tell you something, Fellas. It's amazing and and I'm just saying this for us. Man, where did this dude come from? I mean, because I've been just wanting this type of guys. I want this type. We had this type of guy. And I'm not saying that our guys can't grow it into this, but man, we that's the only thing that scared me about us going forward into the playoffs. Will we slow down and run? You don't stop the running the playoff, but we have to
slow it down. We have to you know, make it a drip so we can, you know, let digs get out from on that back end a little bit. But if you could only have one, would you rather have the stud defensive tack or its defensive end? O. That's that's because Aaron Donald want a super Bowl being who he is, you know. Yeah, see Aaron Donald's one from from being that guy like mister Simmons moving all over the place. Oh that's a good so is that stud
Aaron Donald? Donald plays all the positions. But that's what I say. But he is a mainly a left side three technique. That is his main thing that he does. And he got cut loose into Super Bowl. They spread it everybody out put five you know what, Scuman. They put a guy over the center, guy over the other guard, and the two outside linebackers and put him at that three technique. That's when he goes to work. He goes from a three technique the outside eye of either guard.
That's when he really goes to work. And you put somebody over the center and somebody over the other guard. Who helps does a great defensive tackle help out an average defensive Yes he does. Flescher Cox have done it for Philly for how many years? Flesher Cox has sought up there for I don't know how many years. And uh, you know, people like Fresher clocks and they're having a great year. But Brandon Graham is the other kid. A Barnett was coming on strong. I'm like, yeah, but yeah,
but I ain't never seen it work the other way. Yeah, I ain't never seen it worked out of the way. And the reason being is because and you hear about it all the time, all the time, all the time. Where do most quarterbacks not most Where do all quarterbacks hate to have pressure in the middle of the field. In the middle if they kiss, If they can't take their three, five or seven step drops and take that step up into the pocket, they're not They're not effective
most quarterbacks. You know, you know, if you go through the course of a game, most quarterbacks are aren't their best when they have to throw on the run. They'll make some throws on the run. They can make throws on the run, and they'll make spectaclar throws on the run. But for the most part, they're really good. Ones want to stand in that pocket, have a clear vision down the field, nothing obstructing their vision, being able to step up in the pocket and drive the ball to whatever
the ball is supposed to be down the football field. Well, that's what like Aaron Donald, life Fletcher Cox, like Jeremy Simmons, excuse me, Jeffrey Simmons. That's where they thrive at is making that pocket collapse in the middle. Because the pockets collapsing in the middle, that means those corners are getting shorter. And it may not be a lot, it may be
a foot, it may be a half a foot. But when you look at how close you see sometimes they'll come around the edge and that defensive end is coming around and that hand is coming the ball just gets away. Well, imagine if he had a half a foot of an edge where he didn't have to bowl so tight, and his the shortest the short of distance between two points
of a straight line. So if I don't have to bowl that much and I can come straight down the line because that pocket is now condensed, then now I have more success at getting towards that quarterback because again the quarterback gets away from the pressure that's coming around around the loop by doing what stepping up in the pocket. So if he has nowhere to step up, that that means he's standing back there at seven seven and a
half yards for his throw, or he's now flushed. And most quarterbacks again can make plays when they're flushed, but primarily don't want to be flushed to have to make throws down the football field. So if I can get me a solid defensive end, which the Cowboys shoot hadn't had since defensive tackle defense, Sorry, defensive tackle? Um, who's my guy? I played with them? Scary dude? Oh um, yes, Joe blank guy that came from. What the guy came from? Now?
Yeah he was nice after him, yeah, it was after him, after the Royal God. Why I cannot think of his name. Yeah, he was scary. Chris. You know, this is where you comes in right here, Chris. Who was the defensive tackle that the Cowboys had? It was it was DeMarcus Ware, it was Marcus Spears. It was like, I can't think of she's but yeah, since like Jay Ratliffe, they didn't
they haven't had one. And you wonder why guys like DeMarcus Ware, Anthony Spencer and those type of guys were successful because you had those big hogs in the middle like a Spears, like a Jay right left. I was able to defeat their guys one on one up the middle and then let DeMarcus where the other guys just come around on the edge and recap it. Yeah. Wow, it's amazing. It's seems like this team for a long time, it's not for they're finally doing it. At safety at first,
fortifying the middle of the defense. It ain't sexy. Fat boys ain't sexy. Even before Jesse got here, I sit over here, ticket stop. Boys just sit over here, just saying why we won't get the middle of our defense? Why? Why remember just before you still still the same question. We got the safety, we got safe this own board. Why we just wow, why are bigger guys in the middles don't sexy when you when you when you're evaluating and you're trying, like especially with the Cowboys, like, all right,
what are our needs? I don't think defensive tackle has ever been that high of a priority. So it's always been like, all right, we'll get there when we get there right later. Picks maybe some you know, some some later free agent signings and stuff like that. But what's more sexier? Yeah, the number nineties ninety six nose tackle or double sticks number eleven right one one is not what's the more sexier the running back, the quarterback, the receiver,
the cornerback, the safety. It's not a sexy pick. And and to be to be fair to will, to be fair to the front office, there are a ton of teams in the National Football League who don't have that that hog. Yeah, there's not a lot of mouth, but all these teams that's winning seen had at all, you know what I'm saying. I mean, I mean, even even even the Kansas City Chiefs that don't have Chris Jones stout defense, they got that one un dude in the middle that can make a joke. Yeah, they do. That's
that's that's that's true. And maybe after this year the Cowboys will look up and they'll go, Okay, guys, it may not be sexy, but our problem that we've had, especially especially because I don't care what you say, if you have to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, their first
and foremost move they want to do. They want to run the football and off that time, Brady wants to use the play action pass, short passes, short passes, short pass in the middle of the field and then hit you in the head for the deepest Speaking of the Bucks, is that big Samin kid is healthy? Yeah? Is he still healthy? Everybody keep somebody running into that. You don't want to run into that. There's another big guy. You
don't want to run into that. That's what I'm saying, you know, because everybody's gonna come out out of left garden center. Yep, that's true, praying that we run directly at them. They don't want no misstiraction. They don't want you getting out on those quick screens. They don't want you getting out there pulling. They don't want that. They want you to run straight at them so they big guy can dominate. I don't. I don't know what god
or gods that be Oddish and McGovern pray to. I don't, but whatever gods they're praying to, they're praying that this is the week that they decide in Tennessee not to play some of their starters. And they're like, man, if you don't want to play Jeffrey Simmonds, he was on the injury report yesterday, we won't be upset. They won't. They won't be upset, and the Cowboys won't be upset. Um, we'll break this thing down a lot more tomorrow. I don't want you guys to think today that we're like, oh,
look there's Jesse and them always doubting. No, I don't think. I don't don't think there's any doubt in this football game. I think the Cowboys will win this football game. But I don't. I'll tell you what I won't do. I won't I won't stand on that pedaltal again and like this will be a blow off. I won't do that because the Cowboys have shown us time and time again they play down today competition. They'll get up in Philly, Yeah,
they'll get up. They'll get up in Minnesota, but then they'll go down there to Tennessee and be like, oh whoa, Ana, we'll fumble twice we do that. They ain't gonna do that, not this week, not this week. Okay, they're getting ready for the playoffs. Okay, I hope so well. We're getting ready for the playoffs as well. Beat the breaks. No,
don't start that. I'm not doing that. When we leave that, man, when we when we when we get on that when we get on that plane about one in the morning, because that's a late game, right, yeah, that's a late game. So when we get on that plane round about twelve o'clock, you don't see that Dallas stuff. I ain't doing it. I ain't doing it. Ain't doing I ain't doing that.
I ain't doing it. Chris, you ride with your boy, Chris, you ride with me, Chris b But ain't love my home boy, my homeboy, I gotta said, Richard Holland Sha, because he got on that time, my homeboy, he liked you, he had died hard. He'll be trying to convince yourself sometimes out of there. So Richard, Oh yeah, I ain't gonna know. This is different between this you and Nate. Rich this you and with me. I can hear. I'm
not talking about man. They had like a bad accidents out of nobody got injured physically, but it's just like the breaks just went loose and everybody was sliding all over the highway because of cowboy beat the breaks off a gas breaks.
