Sherman host. The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club Blowing out of the backfield, exploding down the sidelines. This He's Hanging with the Boys, presented by Wing Stuff where Flavor gets its wings. Now your hosts Nate Newton, Kurt Daniels, Jesse Holly, and Shannon Gross. One more day till Friday, one more day to week take fan calls, but for today, you're stuck with us. Thirsty Thursday, Thirsty Thursday. We got some
bonus material today owns. We're gonna do the normal show and then in some segment, probably the second or the third, they save it for last may do it the second. Last night we had the you know, Cowboys Happy Hour of the Cowboys Club and had a very special future Hall of Famer guest, DeMarcus Ware on the show. And DeMarcus keeps up with football, He watches the Cowboys, he does things with the Broncos. He had some really interesting insight into a few things we talked about Dak. We
talked about this defense. He kind of reiterated some things we've said on this show that you guys have said. So I got a few clips from that that will play a little bit later on in the show. Nate's point and go ahead, highlight yourself, brother, who hosted that show last night? I never brought that up. I'm just saying this is about Marcus Ware. This is not about the host of that show. I'm just say when we play those clips, I will be sure to let you
know who hosted that. But until then, and listen, there's nothing wrong with a little bit of self promotion. Now, that's not what it's about. He had some great things to say. All right, I'll tell you what when we play the clips, Kurt, you're unbiased. Okay, you tell me if it's actually good content or if it's about that what I was talking about? What this? It's okay to something I hosted the show, Okay, all right, Hurt his unbiased. Sure,
he's the middleman. He doesn't take sides just because y'all want to start the show without me sometimes and he won't let you. He take Kurt biased for you. He is he thinks, Oh yes, he never asked you tough questions asked because he knows I don't know the room. Yeah. See, it's your fault. You got a big mouths. I like purple. Look, purple socks, shirt, purple pocket. This is actually one of the ones Jesse bought me, probably four or five years ago. By but LSU also just one in there first, their
ranked number one overall. Thank you for cock. There we go. There's the socks. Hey, purple and orange? How about that? Not purple and yellow and eight purple and orange? The socks are yet in pink. Those are your two papers. Those are your power colors, Power colors day yet really yelling red. They don't go together. But hey, I like it. I like it too, you like it? I love it? What do you want to talk about football? Why not? I just want to talk about how bias courting is
whatever bias. Let's don't talk about bias over there, mister sixteen and old net seven and old coming up seven and old coming up. All right, you gotta start with one game. You gotta start with this Sunday at the lines. Dominant performance. You think you got Driskill coming both sides of the ball dominant or just the offense? Down it again. We're gonna dominated on defense. If Driskell play, we're gonna rack his nerves as what nerves? Okay, all right, what
are we doing today? Cowboys defense? Yes, yeah, Lions offense, it was we should just not even bring that up. Run, We'll just talk. Cowboys defense. Shouldn't blow them out. You think on paper they shouldn't been on paper. They should have blown the Jets out. That's true on Stanford. If he don't play, Driskell will get Come on, on paper, they got the number one offense. But as we looked yesterday, those are hollow yards. You said, whatever you want, we're
gonna beat it. You feel that confident? Yeah, why what has this team done to show you that they can just beat the break? Is a losing racking? Am I correct? This team don't losing losing teams. That's not about we'll crushed the dudes. We don't beat winning to teams either. So what do we fall? We're gonna again this year. Brother, I'm gonna take care of Date, I'm gonna take care of I'm taking care of Sunday. Y'all. Y'all are not gonna today. Y'all will get me off of this win.
You know, you come in this morning, this afternoon, you have like a renewed spirit about you. You got your fresh cut going on you look good. He's cheerful. You look you look good? Say that you do look good? You look good fit today? Yeah you know yeah, thanks you look good, brother bro. Thank you, Jesse, thank you, thank you Shannon, and thank you mister Nunn. Bias. But I promise, But what but what what? What have you seen heard? Listen something that's made you because I haven't
heard you this It is confident. This team game the Dolphins. This this team is if Stafford, if I'm kids, it's at home boy if Park. If he does not play, Jeff Drisko does not have enough experience to hold up. Their offensive line is not good enough to hold up. They have no running game. They cannot hold up. They have two outstanding wide receivers. There's no way they should be able to get that ball to these wide receives. But if that dude right there play now we're gonna
have a dog fight. I'm serious. Now, I'm telling you that. Come on now, sometimes you gotta believe. So my question is this to you, to Nate, because I think you and I have both said this, and you your number has been a little bit higher than mine. When it comes down to what a coach can give you as far as a victory, I thought a coach should give you at least one one and a half win season two or two and a half three. That's so my question to you now, one, where do you put in
Patricia Patricians Jason bed Patricia. So I'm I'm asking you, where do you put Patricia as a coach? And does he have enough coaching experience? Can he call up the guru and ask some questions from Bill Beltech? Does he have enough to coach this team? No, sir, you know, I look at a guy like Mike Tomlin who people might have counted out, but he got his scene five and four. Yes, right, that's coach. Coach, Yes, that's coach, that's coach. Yes, yes, Sarah agree? Does Matt Patricia? No,
he don't. Okay, no game that we're gonna beat that we're gonna beat. Man, come on, I'm just asking the question. Man, I'm gonna beat that cal walking. As my grandma was saying, but what Kyle walking? Cal walking walking? Why do you gotta bring me? Don't you don't stop? You don't stop. He'll walk when he relieves himself. Yeah, walking, dump it, cal walking walking fertilized ru yeah, man, man, y'are crazy man. Three five and one Cowboys fro then get back into
playoffs starting with these dudes. Man, that should have been Where is this worry? Where did this guy come from? Three games? Jesse? You notice to be true? Jesse, you know it's three games we should be laughing about. We laugh about one of we leat Miami, we should have been laughing about the Jets. We didn't get a chance to laugh. But come on Detroit. Two weeks ago. I was nervous to death because Detroit was playing a different brand. They lost their running back. They defense is okay, and
yes they scoring in the first quarter. Seven points. We can get seven points on them. We can get seven point brother, This is the worry at all that they are one of I think it's three teams who have held the lead in every game. No, no, no, no no,
they ain't gonna bother me. That I'm telling you is that if there's anything to this Dallas Cowboys team, it's gonna come out this game, and if it doesn't, you don't have to worry about it because it's gonna be a long, long shown even don't even think that way. Come on, man, hey, give me some of that, brother, don't know what I gotta do. You know how many people are getting on draft kings right now, our sponsor DraftKings and probably mortgage in their house because Nate Newton
is so convict. Do what you do? What you do because let me tell you something, the defense only has nineteen sacks. Patricia is a defensive minded coach, so he's gonna try to devise up away that what mental Soolda did. He gonna say, boy, this is what Mentalesolda did. Can't do I have the talent to do that? And it's no. But do I have pieces that can emulate that? Yes he does. He has a decent defensive, decent corner and slay. He has a guy Flowers or pass Russia. But they
can they generate enough? Derek big baby Canard kid, he got a linebacker? Can they generate enough? So we'll see, man, But we should, we should, We should come off the plane. Man saying one thing we will do, whether we get the ball first or get it second, we gonna come out and score, whether it's three or whether it's seven. In the game over after that, it's nowhere in the world they we play this team close. If if we can't score thirty five points, Jesse, more than what you like.
If we can't score thirty five points, something ain't right, Jesse. You agree or disagree, You're not that confident. I'm not that confident. Are you confident at all? Um? I do think the Cowboys shouldn't win this game. I'm not as confident as naive. I'm do not know if anybody's I am. I'm not willing to best some things it is, yeah,
but I look at it this way. This team has had a week right this week, Yes, sir, Yes, sir, there has been some things that's been happening in that locker room that's that may not seem like it's okay, okay, but I tell you what now, let me finish, Yes, sir, go ahead on. But I'm sorry, guys ain't practicing right now because it's a lot of banged up individual some a lot of banged up individuals, and a lot of
the bang up individuals are on the offensive line. So now you're going to a game you're already down one offensive lineman. Xavier is just as good as he's just as good as Connor Waves. I'm not saying that he isn't but you, you, of all people, know you just can't be going and sticking people in an offensive line and it just all of a sudden, magically cohesiveness, magically delicious. That's what it is. Listen, I think the Cowboys should win for us of reason. I am not as confident
as Nate. I think there are some things to be concerned about this fanatic, but I I do think concerns you the most. I guess he just the offensive line. The offensive line situation is um is it if you want? I do think I do think Matt Patricia is going to scheme up something defensively for his team. Yes, he is attack the Cowboys, and I do think he's going to have a package in for and for Jeff Jorge School to kind of suit his needs or to suit
his strengths. And they have two good receivers and Kenny Golladay and Mom Jones junior. Kenny Olligate leads the league right now in touchdown exceptions, right yeah, he think he's two about two or three a Bubba MARII. So they're going to try to get an end zone with these big play guys. And one of the things that we've struggled with all year long. Is being able. We're there, we just turn around for the ball. Sack sack, sack, pressure, pressure, pressure.
Here we go, here we go, but we don't go. We got the same thing when we played the jet and he a guy who had money for two months come in and it didn't want happen. This time, it won't happen this time. I have to believe. I believe. It's called buds. It's called buds, and in a little old town called Wiley. Jesse, I agree that I'm saying to the reason I I'm saying, But you just what the reason I am saying what I am saying? Why are you saying what you're saying? Who called you we
had a tough week in here this week. Who rang your phone last night and told you better, you better turn things to other? No, no, no, no no, no no, no, Jesse, Jesse. This is Let the cameras follow me, keep the cameras on me. Okay, this is the problem we have. I can't wait to see this. Where is he going? Where's Nate going? He's walking up to the wall. Where else can you go? You gotta Every time every time this team has been pushing the corner, they fight. That's the
only thing. That's the only way you can see it. Tell you against the wall, whereas can you go every loss is a Every loss takes you to the theory of hey man, we need this team to win, this team to lose this team. From this point on, the only way you can see yourself winning the NFC East is to win this game. The Minnesota game took you out of any conference zone that you thought you could be in because you have shown a history of I will beat the teams with losing records and the teams
with winning records. I cannot win against you. You have already, so your backs against the wall. Everything a coach tells you right now, you gotta take for face value and try to do what the best you can. That's the only way you can look at it as a player. That's the only way. Mark's a great point. You're you're swaying me. You're swaying, swaying me on to your side. I'm coming out a fanatic. I gotta come out of fanatic.
It's no other way. It's no other way. Do you think you think this could be a defensive battle with them not having much offense? And then Patricia scheming something up that's gonna take advantage of a banged up defensive line, I mean offensive line banged up a maori. Do you think this could be a low scoring game. Nah, we lose a little scoring game. It was a little scoring game. You gotta score what twenty were either gonna blow these
guys out or get blowed out. Were either gonna blow these guys out of Get don't they are one dimensional? They are. They are wonderments. They don't have a running game. They are wondering mentioned them. I'm not saying that they're not gonna mix in enough run to keep us honest, but they are one to mention them, they got two
stars out there. If them, if them stars cut loose on us, game over get if Marvin and Kenny, if they if they if they blast us up early in the game, decent tight end Jesse James over, it's over. I don't think we have a middle I don't think we're working with a middle ground. Or the middle ground went out of us with Jets in Minnesota. That was the middle ground. The middle ground gone. You got to come to play you if we're sitting him money saying wow, the slow we got slow and they got up fourteen
and they got up twenty one. Come on, fellas, that don't work. That every game that we've been dead like that, we've lost for the sake of the show. Please do not do that for us. I'm talking about straight fast. When we've been down fourteen, nothing, twenty one, nothing, have we came back and one of these games? No, you got back in it, but you haven't won anything. That's
what I'm saying. So whether we gotta whether we get a defensive turnover like we did against Philadelphia, or whether we just come out and beat you because we're better than you like we did with all the ones that we did win. We can't win the other game. We can't win the other way. It's haven't been proven that we can win any other way. You haven't been proven. And if it has, it's a year ago. It ain't
this year. Let's take a break right there, just saying since we're talking about Cowboys defense today, who better else to talk about it than DeMarcus Ware. We'll get some of his comments, and I want feedback from you guys,
because I think he said some really interesting stuff. By me being so cowboy in the heart, you know, speaking of another cowboy at heart? Where really on a show last really? Now he actually helps out the Broncos, but he was on the show last night. We have Happy Hour on Dallas Cowboys dot Com hosted by me. You happy, Jesse? Yeah,
I want you to chop yourself out. We had uh Kevin Haglin from one oh five three to fan David Hellman also Dallas Cowboys dot Com and DeMarcus ware So we talked, you know, all things football, and DeMarcus you know, watches the NFL. He watches the Cowboys really close obviously watches the Broncos really close because he helps out with the coaching staff and things there, so he had some interesting things. I had forgotten that he had played for
marion Elli for three years when he was here. I totally forgot that marion Elli has been around that long. So he had some interesting things to say about about the scheme. So each one of these clips is about two minutes, so we'll listen to it and then get your thoughts. Who does that fall on? Responsibility wise that your decordinator is calling out this is what they're doing, this is what they're doing. You have a decent idea of what they're going to go to again and again.
I know Dalvin Cook is ridiculously talented, But does that fall on not adjusting from the coaching staff? Is that on the players too? You got to wrap up and do a better job of tackling, which we were all lamenting during the game. Where does the responsibility for that fall? I think they've falled back onto the players. I feel like they had a good enough skam to win the football game. It was a lack of responsibility in certain areas where it was okay the guys there, But he
needs to make the tackler miss tackles. Yeah, that's always a big key in the game. Hundred and forty four yards after contact on Sunday night, and the most they had given up before that was seventy Yeah, so double that's crazy you brought up you think this is one of the most talented linebacker corps. The knock on them this year is they've been underperforming. What are you seeing that's causing them to underperform? The thing is and Rod's defense,
You got it's a responsibility defensive. Two of the defensive linemen are going underneath. That means that I'm gonna make sure everything bounces outside to the linebackers. One guy needs to sit sit. That set the point right, so everything funnels underneath for the big guys and make the players.
And we didn't see that a lot of times. But then in the passing game it was the same thing to where if the guys are going underneath creating pressure, now we're gonna roll Cousins out and gets who's responsibility for the boot is actually one of the defensive ends. But you can't bury yourself down in the inside. You gotta now get you know. I would say we have the inside stunt technique. Then you get up the field, cutback, boot reverse. You're not worried about a reverse. They never
did a reverse, but everything was the bootleg. Everything was that cutback with cook. So it was a responsibility game, and some guys weren't on their game. So a lot of fans are only coach staff for game playing schemes and things like that. This is a guy that played in this scheme and he's saying the scheme was good enough to win the game. It's was on the players not executing the scheme. What do you what do you get? What do you guys think? I tried to say, I
say this is what I keep saying. Is this right here? He just said on the bootleg when a guy knife is down, let's say the market's law knife down in there. That tackle guys to get outside and maintain. So if it's a bootleg, he got to be wider than the quarterback. Well maybe he ain't fast enough. So if you know you ain't fast enough, you don't even call that possible stunt in that situation. And if you're not, you don't even mess around. You get out there and play for that.
But what got me is it's one thing that hurt the Dallas Cowboys, and it's one thing only. It's their linebackers an open space, did not tackle, not one time on the screens. That's a player. That's a player, because two or three times if you can breathe and I keep it every time, Kyle shut I see looking at y'all. Well, de Marcus Nors had to go down to the lot once but twice and going down there and make tackles.
That is not how you do this. The reason defensive linements should be able to run all day in this defense is because you're linebackers is killing folks. And that didn't happen in this game. It's poor tackling that killed them in this game over and over again. Because you see them there, you know, and if Kyle could pull that up and I'll point right to see that, y'all see that again and again and again. Why has that changed so much? Because last year Vanderish and Smith was
tackling like beasts. They're supposed to be the second coming of it. And De Marcus said, he's still this is the best linebacker corps he's ever seen. And he said, this is a great front four, and he often and every about his running around willy nilly doing their own thing. What are you seeing, Jess, No, it comes down to the fundamentals of things. You know, we saw Sean Lee, who has been a tactician his whole career right, done
everything right, but everyone supposed to be overrun tackles. And to me, a lot of it is it's guys playing outside themselves for whatever reason. I'm trying to make a play. I'm trying to do too much. And so when guy's beginning to play outside of who they are, outside of what their capabilities are, that's when you start seeing the mistakes happen. It's some of that like, for lack of a better term, ego, like I'm going to be the star, I'm not going to be. I don't think it's about
being the star. I think it's about man, we need to play and I want to be the guy to help us make a play. So it's one of those things where I don't think it's selfish. It's good intent. The intent behind it is good, the execution of it is poor. And so when you have good intent with poor execution, you would then in lie have the mistakes. I think those guys on defense are having good intentions. I want to be there. I want to get to the tackle. I want to make the play for my team.
I want to get us off the field. But instead of Sean Lee breaking down on a quick little out route that that Dalvin Cook runs, he overruns it and now he gains twelve yards and they're still in the field. You know, instead of u um Jalen Smith, you know, breaking down and making the tackle, he's going for the kill shot so he could swipe. You know what I'm saying, to spake the tackle, all right, smake the tackle. You don't have to have the ESPN Sports on the play
the tackle. And I think sometimes when you when you're in these lulls and you're just always trying to play catch up, you tend to overextend yourself because you're saying, man, if I can just go ahead and make this booming hit, maybe we would get a fumble, or if I can get out there, and then now you play outside of yourself, that's when the mistakes happen. Yeah, So for the fans, this plays into that. I wanted to know, hey, can you fix this? Is it too late? Is it something
you can fix? And if you can, how do you fix it? This is what the Marcus had to say as as a player, DeMarcus whenever, you know, you think the schemes right and it's on the players to execute. Do you think halfway through the season, a little bit over halfway through the season, this is something they can correct or is it kind of like this is what they're gonna be the rest of the year. Can you
get it back on track? Like this is something that if mistakes are made, they can always be corrected then next week, you know, I mean, but it's all about it's not correcting one person, it's like correcting all eleven and all eleven guys have to be on the same page because if one person don't do their job, the whole team's gonna suffer. And it takes only that one guy. And it's you, we and we've all seen that. You know,
there are some mistakes that are made. But the thing is like it can be corrected this week that's coming up. And to me, I always say, all excuses they stink. It depends on if you want to smell them or not. Right, yeah, but so they aren't any excuses everybody's hurt or everybody's beat up some type of way. If you put that jersey on, and if you're representing the Dallas Cowboys, you're gonna go out there and give it one hundred percent. And that's how I predicate my career. That's how all
the champions are on the team now. They shoot at and be that way. And so if you're out there, you're a gladiator, your warrior, and it's time to go to war. Its time to win the battle, no matter thoughts. You know what. That's why at the beginning of the year, in the middle of the year, at the end of the year, I've all what You've always never heard me talking about the injuries when I played, And I hate to use that when I played because it don't matter now.
But the way people thought where I injuries like that is, oh, we're not using that excuse, but we want to put that out front so you can think about it. It used to not be a part of the discussion. But you know, even when I'm talking to my wife, well text along Halder the one, but they don't don't start the injury re front. I don't need the re injury report, you know. If that's how I'm a predicate on who win and lose every week. I'll just go read the
injury report. Okay, they should, they should lose this week. You know, if that's how you're gonna do it, do you have a chance to win? I asked the question if you lose this guy all of a sudden, are you changing how you think? Well, you better get ready eight times out of the year to change how you think. And that I can't buy. I'm sorry, I'm not buying into it. I'm I never have and I never will. You know, how did this team make it without these guys?
How do we don't make it without these guys? Left tackles? In every industry that plays football, if they lose their left tackle, it is a big, humongous loss. But why do they win? Because the other ten guys are the other twenty guys that's on offense find a way, along with the coaches to overcome. So from the scouting down to the coach to the player, you have to find a way to win. Now, if you lose your quarterback, it is it. I think exceptions, but this year here
even the quarterbacks Pittsburgh don't have else. They didn't playoff contention. Saints lost stairs they didn't lose a game Panthers. They are a better team without their quarterback. So we this thing of injuries, it only applies to certain teams, and that's the teams that can't win. Jesse, where are your thoughts on you can't correct one guy, you gotta correct eleven guys? No, I think I think correcting individual is where it starts, because what football is it's eleven guys
having individual battles. So it is it's eleven guys having one on one individual battles and in a team scheme, if I win my one on one battle, I've done my part of the eleven man program. So if one man is out of sync, then it helped it destroys the other ten right. Because if I'm going left and I'm supposed to be going right, there's ten other guys that's expected me to go right and I go left.
I created a gap. So correcting individual is important because that one guy can be the breakdown of Like Nate just said, if you know that they're doing bootleg, bootleg, boot leg bootleg, or cut back, cut back, cup back, cup back, then get your butt outside set the edge. But if you constantly keep going down, you know what you've done in your back end. Now you've given Kirk Cousins a lot more time, and now it's harder to cover those guys. You just think, well, it's just one guy.
Well yeah, one guy not doing his job didn't allow me to do my job to my best ability. That's the greatness about football. It's literally eleven individual battles happening at the same time, running the same scheme. So I do think you have to correct those guys individually, and whether that be technique, breakdown, everything does not have to be a kill shot or listen, you're in the A gap. Be in the A gap, don't be in the B gap.
I got somebody for the B gap. If both of y'all are said it in the B gap, guess what we're gonna cut back at to the A gaps? What running backs have vision? Oh, he got's closed, find the next hole. And so you just have to be as an individual. You have to be coached up properly to do your job. Where did that fall in the grand
scheme of things? Now? Once I get you to figure out and know your job, now it makes coaching the group way easier because now I have eleven guys doing what I need him to do in the grand scheme of things. Sure surely that goes on during the game, doesn't well see, And that's where I was gonna say something to you about what you said earlier about the
correcting right. That has to be a constant thing because whatever you practice on the on the practice field, those things are likely to change at times in a game. How good are you of being able to change your stripes during the game. Can I change what we thought was going to work during the game that's offensively and defensively. Don't get so locked in to that everything that we learned Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and then we get the Sunday and it doesn't work. You have to be able
to adjust. This game is all about adjustments. The good ones adjust. You have to adjust. They're gonna be some things that are constant. Yup, so what they're gonna do. That's so they're gonna do that. But there are some things that you can have black and we said the time and time a game before. Hey, fellas, I know we practice all we can practice. It ain't working. Here's what we're gonna do now. And you have to have smart enough players to be able to learn and adjust
on the run. And it all goes back to it. The good teams have enough of those guys on their roster that when we have to make a wholesale change in the middle of a game, I can. I got guy that could be at And that comes back to football comprehension, because you're not gonna do anything in the game that they've never heard before. Okay, we're going to a quickly. They ain't making up coverages. We ain't all of a sudden going to cover ninety nine. No, it
may have been, hey, we're gonna go cover two. All we can practice and then come into the game that ain't working. They're killing us. We're gonna go to cover three or cover one. The football comprehension is what do I have in my mind mentally that I've done enough work to know that I can be able to adjust on any given moment throughout the game. Bowl for us, just one play change, one play. That is the chess match. Within the chess match is you go here, I go here.
It's a constant battle man and the team that has a lot of those guys when when the competition is kind of equal, because sometimes by Timmis and Joseph just better period. But when it comes down to that, I got some pretty good athletes over there, got some pretty good athletes over here. It's those small little adjustments that the coaches make that the players are able to take that information and then go out there and execute it.
We've heard that word a million times and the last it's hard to ask a guy like Robert Quinn that you know, Okay, you go get the quarterback, sack the quarterback. There's your man, and say, okay, now you've got to set the edge, even if it means taking a step back. That's too simple. That's simple. That's too simple. That's just a run versus a pass. That's too simple. It really is. Now, if you say, hey, I like drop back on the rug,
you're talking about the rollouts and stuff like that. Because when we talk about setting the edge, you got the defensive end or the outside linebacker on a tight end or tap and they running towards you. You gotta set down and hold that edge. Don't let them get outside of you, so you can force everything back inside. And so if I run a game and Jesse's tackling on the end and I shoot down here, Jesse gotta come around,
and he got to set a new edge. So if it's a bootleg, you can be putting pressure on that quarterback so he won't have a two way go or he won't have a chance to really read. Okay, hey, the tight end, he's covered by the linebacker. Let me go to my second level. You get what I'm saying. It's just about the edge is easy to set, but when you're running games sometimes that's a moving part. If you got the right quarterback that can get out there and get itself right, your guy he may not. He
may he may not even be able to think. Like a lot of times Jesse running to his man and engage him and let me come pick him. Well, if we got the right quarterback, I'm just gonna come right away. He gotta get out there. Either we say off, kill kill, and I just stay and say the edge myself. So that we've talked before, Like the end game adjustments seemed to be a problem with this team have been for a while. So is that the coach is not communicating. Is that the players just not being able to make
that change. You know, I've been doing this all game. Now I gotta do this. It's a combination of both. It's a combination of the coach's unwillingness to change, but also setting the mindset of your players right to know. And that goes all the way back to the practice to the eating rooms is and I hate to do this,
but we'll talk about all the time. When you look at teams like the Patriots, it's bringing in the right players that you know we're gonna have to adjust, but don't be so don't be so robotic in the way that you teach that that's the way that they learn. Because if you teach them in the robotic method, and you teach in that in that form, then that's when
they'll that's when they'll they'll be stuck to that. But if you teach variations and you forced your players to use their brain not just their physical gifts, that that's a that's a learning process. And I think that's one of the things that we don't do well is we don't train them to think in multiple ways. It's this is the way it is. That's the way we're gonna run it. And we've seen that time and time again
offensively and defensively. What we will keep banging our heads again into the wall because we just won't adjust, and or we just say, you know what, We're not gonna bliss this Sam Darnold kit and we're just gonna say back in coverage and he keeps eating you up across the board. Change now, like you have to be able to change now. The tackle got beat seven times in the row, the left tackle in Atlanta got beat seven times in a row, and you march them back out
there for an eighth. Don't make no sense to can't change after the game. But this game here, this game here, And like I said, I don't know if Kyle can show it, but just showed clippings from the last game, and it came down to one thing, and one thing only, the willingness to tackle. Kyle, don't show that game. I've seen enough of that game. But I'm serious. If you got something to show, show the fan, show the willingness
to tackle a hundred. You heard him say, you heard me saying yes the day you heard Jesse said, heard him said, the willingness to tackle would have stopped all of that. Go back to what you said earlier. You said, y'all change one play in the second Super Bowl explain that what what what did that mean? Uh? It was it was that line of the second Super Bowl because Buffalo was it Buffalo? Yeah, it was Buffalo the second Super Bowl you played. Yeah, man, I gonna hit They
was own us. There was whooping us. And we came up at halftime and coach came in, Coach you know, Coach Johnson settle. Now we good. We're gonna get something going here. Coach Turner came out and said, Nate, you ready to pull? You ready to run? Like yeah, Coach him like, hey, we we've been to run the power. It's just a simple play where I'll pull around, go up on side the backside linebacker, the mic to the backside linebacker, depending on how they adjust. And I saw
all we did. We just changed one place. He said, we've been a cut it. Then we're gonna we can't get out side. We just can't hit him straight. We're gonna cut the defense. We cut the defense, left that half out, then took care of his half, and we just hit up in them. So you just you added the play and just ran it multiple times. Yeah, and uh, look at that, Look at that. Look at that big sexy man right there on the screen trying to find somebody and man, look at that, Yes, sir, baby changed
a bit, Yeah, I do look a little slim. Look at him? Who right? Now? Go ahead take it out that dbut put him on it back. Baby. Oh, I'll be talking noise too, and I don't. I don't gonna sit down doing the game, babe, No, I'll be standing up watching really Yeah, how co whoa throwing around? Yeah? Why would you sit down? I couldn't get up all the sexy ways see all that sexy wat what d Ware talked about Dak too and what he seemed from Dak. We've talked about his progression on this show. Before we'll
get to that. We'll take a quick break and we'll get to that clip when we come back on Hey with the Boys. Geek Big Game Saturday Night dot com Our Oklahoma. Yeah, what do y'all think about that game? You think Baylor is the real deal this year? Yes? Did you go to bail today? They so real today? Dropped in the ranks one spot this week and they won last week that's how real Jameson proved themselves this week. Yeah, they will at that game. Pull the bailor and who playing Oklahoma? Where's the wind blow strong? It's at game. Yeah, it's down in Waco College game Days there. That'll be big place.
It's this the only game we got this week. We're going to Waco, all right. So DeMarcus talked about We talked about it on this show. Jesse's Jesse's change camps since the beginning of the year or since last year going to this year. Ask DeMarcus what he's seeing out of Dak if he's seeing a difference, and this is what he had to say. And one thing that I see about Dak is not only is he progressing as a quarter back, meaning that when he first came in, he was a guy who wanted to create plays, a
lot of bootlegs, a lot of little trick plays. What is he But now it's like, Okay, I'm demanding that I am a pocket quarterback, but I have athleticism to also move the chains. And I see maturity when he demands everybody's eyes in them. And at first, you know, when you usually have a quarterback coming in, they'll look at the plays and they're just talk and then the guys are just break and league And now you see the guys like, what do we got engage? What's up?
And when they leave the huddle, he leaves the huddle first. Now there's little things that I see as the guys are really taking on and saying, that's our guy. So he's becoming a leader. Yeah, he's becoming a leader not only off the field doing things, but also in the locker room when guys take ownership for what he has to say. Do you think Dackson up? Is he in an MVP conversation this year? Has he done enough? Numbers wise? Yeah, numbers for sure. I think they had a better record. Yeah,
they were winning games. They were if they were if they were seven and two, eight and one. You hear him, You hear his name up there with the Wilsons and the Jackson's. Absolutely, so he's having that kind of year. Yeah, sopatistically, Yeah, Pro Bowl for sure, right, Oh, absolutely, you're voting for him for Pro Bowl, Kirk, Sure, definitely. Pro Bowl voting
is open. By the way, Now, if this team doesn't make the playoffs, excuse me, then you're talking about you know, I mean because this you still got Russell Wilson in the NFC. I mean, just Aaron Rodgers is still in the NFC. Drew Brees is still in the NFC. I mean, you got a couple of quarterbacks that are still in the NFC. Even the quarterback for the forty nine is
because they win. In Jimmy the Roppolo, he gonna as the season go on, they like they winning his spided his kid, but his name would come up just because they are winning the winning matters and it's situation when it comes out of the quarterbacks. Now he make it in because one of the quarterbacks might be playing in a in the Super Bowl playing you know what I'm saying, So they might he might be an alternate, but the numbers are there, one hundred percent, the numbers are there,
and the wins were there. He you'd hear his name in a much greater light and a much bigger category as like MVP and not let me say it say something, Nate. If they just had one more win, that's just cause of cowboy name alone. If he would have won last week with the numbers that he put up, that that would have done wonders for him I'm telling you just cause of who the cowboys globally are telling you these kids, he would have been a NFC Offensive Player of the
Week instead of Dalvin Cook. They would for real, I keep trying to tell people, just think of all the glory cowboys getting at five and four. Just think of there was eight and two. Mm hmm. Come on, fellas, which they should be probably fell at least. I'm on Fellas. I'm trying to help you him. They backed against the wall. They finished slaughter the sting lines. You should have asked you did mars well that we've finish slaughter them. So if they don't slaughter them, then he's gonna come to
the show. It's bad, brother. We nah see you got to pull you have to pull a six three brain No they w I hope. So man, it's for the sake of the show. I don't want to come down here riding on eight and eighth the rest of the year. I'm not even gonna talk about it. It's gonna make me depress the rest of that. Didn't I tell you when you first joined the show, how this cat was gonna just you see full? You know what? Full? We got the voice of reason we got Cowboy Joe over here.
That's right, that's right. We got the numbers guy. And then I'm the voice of the fan. I am the conscious of the fan because I guarantee you every fan here one minute, and that's what they do. This team does this to you. You know it, Nate, You've been a fan of this team your whole life outside. Once you got with the twenty straight playoffs, once you got through the nineties, once you got through the nineties, there is a whole sixties and seventy twenty straight player. There's
a whole generation that his experiences. There's a whole what eight years that have We've been eight and eight every year except the one year we went twelve and what was it, thirteen and three and the year and twelve and four, you've been I mean, you've been a lot of things, but you are a Cowboys first and foremost. Yes, but you still live and die with this team any and we're gonna be living it up out of this slow. I hope you're right. I hope you're right. One thing
is for sure. You can take it to the bank. It's gonna come down to the last game of the season. The last two games. So it's coming down to those two. Yeah, I'm telling you, telling us what we get if we're oh man, if we get down to the last two games of the seas spread in the Red Skin game, it's happening. If we're gonna be like eight and eight, nine to seven, we're gonna be light and day and Dave last night on the show said that the Redskins game is the one game that I'm confident that they
can win. And I said, me and DeMarcus both said, do not say that about the Redskins because the Redskins and the Cardinals, crazy stuff happens every single time we play those teams. Okay, I do not feel good about the Redskins. So you need to quit saying it's gonna come down to that game, because it's gonna come down that game this season. About it over, then come on, bro, man, I'm just telling you that. All right. You just watch Kyle Kyle Mark Mark. This got you the end? Wow,
you either end. I'm all in Cowboys, no matter what happened. Man, you've done a complete one eight. It's all I'm not. It's a good thing that you're doing this. Check my thing. I said sixteen and I was worried he was gonna say something else. Check my pace, check my Tommy John. Yeah, I'm sixteen and oh you were ten and six. You were eleven and five. I was like more than now, like thirteen three or something ridiculous. Yeah, I think I was eleven and five. And come on, man, do not
get off this train. The only way I get off this train, the only way if we get to the Rams and not have one two of these games. We get to the Rams and the Rams game over and we're not two in one, then I may think about getting off all right, because we got hold on I mean the bills, the bill, Yeah, because if we are one and two and then then I'm in trouble. But if we were two and one, come on, man, so you gotta win to the next time. We gotta beat
Detroit and Buffalo easily. We were beating New England, all right. And that's the show, fellas, because he's starting to talk crazy. Well, Kurt, thanks for showing up. Man. You gotta quiet. You gotta quip me in the for the reason and come on, no, no, I want to be there with you this. You talk about extremes. I want to be there with you and you you you're you're pulling me in. I want to be there with you. You're just like way up here and nothing that this team has shown me, the enthusiasm
has afforded me way up here. They lose six games, you should be up there with me. Until they lose six games. They have not. They are five and four. There's two games away from losing six six, so you should be still in that boat. Nah, they what I saw last week, what is transpired during this week doesn't give me the confidence that you have. I think they should win Sunday. I may even pick them to win tomorrow. But I just I'm not. I'm not as for like
you're for sure. Yes, yeah, I'm not. I'm not there. I'm I'm not for sure like you like no doubt. What can you go? Okay, what does Detroit have that makes you even when that's the thing, you think it's about Detroit, I'm thinking it's about Dallas. It is about Dallas exactly. And that's the part that I'm not confident in. You think it has something to do with Detroit. I'm thinking that we've been our own Achilles Hill, We've shot our own self in the foot. We've we've we've put
our own self behind the paper. But you can fix that. We need is thirty points. Yeah, all we need is thirty points. The numbers guy right, Every game that we wanted a week ago, all you need is thirty points. Every game that we want this we scored what thirty plus? Okay, thirty points will be scored because coach Patricia's defense ain't gonna hold us back from that. He can't hold us back from that. They only got two nineteen sacks. They have forty pressures, they only have We are the cowboys.
Y'all realize I tried to end the show about four minutes. I'm gall money that is that is the point. We are the cowboys, and teams get up for the cowboys, and I'm not signing mighty cowboys, scow boys. Between your enthusiasm and what reasoning in my reality is closer to your reasoning better than your reasoning. No, it's not, it's not. It's nut. I will bet you a bottle of water. We don't pay for water around here. We don't pay
for pay for my water. You you ain't pay for They take five dollars out of my chicken every month for this all right to be determined. We're gonna figure out the bet for tomorrow cookies or something something mighty mighty cow Boys, Kyle, thanks for keeping us on the cow tomorrow phone. Come on home. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club
