The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club, flowing out of the backfields, flooding down the sideline. He is hanging with the boys, presented by Wingstuff where Flavor gets its wings. Now, your hosts, Nate Newton, Kurt Daniels, Jesse Holly, and Shannon Gross, Welcome to the show. It's Monday. It is not Victory Monday.
And we've been trying to figure out how to get Jesse Holly off this show for about a year and a half now, So I just want to extend a thank you to the Jones family for resigning Kelly Moore and get Jesse to check and completely out of this show and not even want to be a part of this show. So thank you Jones family for for Oh, there he is he did show up, he is here. Oh can't get rid of me. Kellen Moore coming back was going to do it for us, Jesse Man, oh Man. Well,
as you can see, I am officially on vacation. My shirt, my hat. I don't know if I'm good co but I am going somewhere. So I am I'm officially done. I am done, except not for this show. I want to see you guys two more times this week, So today and then Thursday we'll be on at eleven thirty, and then we'll go to once a week every Thursday eleven thirty with the boys. Fellas. I may not look like it, but I am very sad today. The Cowboys could not take care of business. So weird feeling, isn't it.
It is so weird because it's like they it's not like they really deserve to be in the playoffs, and we nobody thought they really would be, but yet they had a chance. And so now, I mean the Giants put it on about twelve different silver platters and serve them up opportunity after opportunity after opportunity to just please take this game. We don't want to be in the playoffs. We don't want to watch the night game with anything vested in this Cowboys, please just take this, win this
game so we don't have to have anything vested. And they just could not get it done. Fellas, Jesse, were you in morning? Is that why you were late? Or did you just forget we had a show? Are you just done? I was doing my best to get here on time. It's okay, it's all right, it's okay, very vague. We've probably better leave it at yea, yeah, got caught cut caught at the train crossing, coming from the other side of the tracks of the trailer park. We understand,
we've all been trailer park. There a lot of a lot of mud, and so I was trying to get out. I was trying to burn rubber get out of them. The wheel just kept spinning, so they had to had to help me get up about in the trailer park. But I'm here, Burt, burning rubber, all right, at the trailer park. Nate, Nate, you are quiet today? What what? What? What you know? Beloved lifelong cowboy Homer on this show? Why are you so quiet? Or your heartbroken? No? No, no,
I'm good. I talked to Barry Church before the game, and I was just talking to Kurt and I said, Kurt, the biggest game, at the biggest moment, went to have an opportunity to be in the playoffs. I was talking to Buried Church, and Buried Church was sitting us sweating bullets. I'm like, Church, what's wrong? He's say, Nate, the biggest games, the biggest moments, with the opportunity all I can remember is we did at three years in a row, at
eight and eight, and we failed every time. And I looked at it and I almost just walked out of the studio because at the biggest moments, at the biggest times, to give yourself an opportunity. Guess what the cowboys did. And you know what typical cowboy fashion, they got all of us to buy into. They got us to buy in, kept us hanging on, went on that that went in street, kept us hanging on to the very last second, and then we got let down again. Kurt, what are your thoughts? Well,
I said, it's disappointing. I mean, like you put it perfectly, they got and they sucked us back in. You know, we had some hope, we had some excitement about what was going on, and then at the very end, they pulled the rug out from understand again they did it two eleven, twenty twelve to thirteen. I think, you know it just over and over again. It comes out of the final game and they can't come through. So yeah, I don't know why. I was more disappointed than I
thought it would be. Actually, I didn't think it would kind of hit this hard. But you know, it's a bummer. They didn't make the playoffs even if Jesse, Jesse, what do you think about this? Tell me as a football player, if a team on third down, it's old for a seven in a whole game, shouldn't they lose if you don't control the clock. You control the clock for thirty plus minutes and they only control of the clock twenty
seven minutes. Oh no, But we got some defensive players that want to hit, but folks want to push folks over piles and keep drafts going, and it costs us bout seventeen points. I'd tell you, I just don't understand this. Just yea ahead, man, Well, I just was gonna come. You had that tweet during the game about the defense was trying to play two over the top or two emotional or whatever, and I wanted to ask you about that. You know, we we had been asking them to be
more physical and kind of show some emotion. But you said this wasn't really the team that wasn't there, m I guess yeah. You know you saw the team come out and and and and everybody's trying to be you know, super tough and super physical and super you know everything. Everything was so over the top and yes, you you you. You don't change your game in a ninth inning, right, you like you you when I when I mean be physical, there's a level of being physical at the point of attack, right.
I can be physical at the point of attack. I can be physical at shedding a block. I could be physical at making a tackle. But when you try to get over physical we all laughed, and John Macholda got over a million views on the Jalen Smith whatever that whatever, that wwe thing that he did when he got into the little pushing shoving back with the off Yeah, then you know, then then you've got you know, you got Jordan Lewis doing things, and then you got you know, uh,
Randy Greg. I mean, so you have all these things where they're just playing way too emotional, way too over physical, and that's not their style. And when you begin to do things out of your character, it shows. And then I know there's this show. It blatantly shows, and it cost you when you start doing things and at this point in the season that you have not done all year long, and all of a sudden, now you want to be this super tough, you want to be this
super aggressive football team. Guys, certain guys can't play that way. I knew guys that can get to level one thousand and were able to play it under you know, under that type of u that type of zone. I knew guys who got to eleven one thousand, and they were all over the place, and it just wasn't good for the football team. And you saw a lot of guys, especially earlier in that game, that was all over the place, out of position, extending drives, giving up opportunities. You just
can't do that. And and to me, when I watched them, especially on defense, I was just like, who are these guys all of a sudden, Now you guys want to be fighters, You guys want to be tough guys. This isn't who you've been all year So don't don't try to do this now in the final game of the season. And this has not been who you've been all year long. It just was. It was It was out a character, It looked weird, and it cost it cost him in
a lot of those instances. Was this was it, you know, a concerted effort that, oh we gotta go try to intimidate them, or was it nerves? Were they desperate? I mean, why you think this was a hey, let's playing on the body. Somebody spoke up and then deliver the right speech. That's all that was. I'm saying, Jesse, you've been in the locker room where you got certain guys that just go off, fly off the handler. You look at them like, yo, y'all, Hey, that ain't the way we're gonna do this well in
their locker room. It's obvious. It's obvious that they don't have an alpha mail to say, hey, nah, we don't do it like that. Let's play within our means. Like you say, Jesse, you you're good at six hundred, You're not good at a thousand. I was good at seven fifty, but I was not good at eight hundred. I was one of them guys. I could not fly off the handle because if I flew off to handle, bad things happened.
You got to realize that as a player, and all of these guys are played long enough to know that cycle level, that hype level, and if you get beyond that hype level, you have to pull yourself back down. And nobody until at the half I guess Coach McCarthy l coach Nolan Win and said, look, tell us what are we doing. I just got a call from Jesse saying, man, don't recognize y'all. I mean, y'all got to do better. So do you think that was a big factor then?
And then falling down twenty to nine in the first yes, first half? Yeah? You o for seventh, you ope for seven or third down? You getting them out of there? You take it and you but a guy. You you got them out of there, You push you out over a pole. You got them out of there. You it's a full count and your fastball is ready to be pitched, and all of a sudden you want to throw a slider and you miss. Is that the guy? Is that on the players with how they approached the game, or
is that on the coaching that didn't have them? Maybe that's on the that's on the players. I mean at some point in time, like you coach, and you coach and you coach, and then you have to let go and the guys have to go out there and perform, right Like it's like this these these aren't We're not talking about the middle school kids. It's like this ain't
Pop Warner. This is professional football. So you can coach and coach and coach but at some point in time, you gotta let a player go and let him go do what he's supposed what he's paid highly paid to do. And so in a coach is always supposed to be making adjustments, but there's only like like, at some point in time, he's got to say, all right, kid, go play and and and hope for the best when they go out there, and hope that you give them enough
knowledge for the game. Now, you can't coach someone's Uh, you can't coach someone's attitude or amp level, or hype level, or smart level or stupidity level. You can't coach those things, right. Uh, some of it is just in certain people. Some of it some some people just go out there and do what they do all the time because that's just who they are. And you try to you try your best ability to coach in a proper manner that gives them
the best opportunity to be successful. But at the end of the day, a player has to go out there and do what he does. Like you're you're a grown damn man. I can't I can't coach every aspect of your game. I can't coach you in the film room. I can't coach you in the training room. I can't coach you in the practice field. I can't coach you
how you get hyped. I can't as a coach. I don't have enough time in the day to make sure that each one of my guys are coached to the perfector to the you know, to perfection as far as mind, body, and soul. At some point in time, there has to be a level of onus on the player. Jordan Lewis, you can't head but a guy. I shouldn't have to coach that. I shouldn't have to coach that. Randy Gregory, you load that you can't come after the players called dead and come push your guy off the pile. I
shouldn't have to coach that. That's not coaching, that's not that's nothing I'm doing coaching. I shouldn't have to put that in my notes. Hey let me let let me make sure I tell Randy Gregory today, Hey, don't push after the part. Let me put my notes today to tell Jordan Lewis, Hey, dude, don't in open space where it's just you and him standing and the ref. God leave the ref standing right there. Don't head but the dude like let's not do those things. So it's like you,
that's on a player. I can only coach so much before a player has to take owners on what he does on the football field, down in and down out. Yeah, you know, coaches are say things before a game like play hard, play smart, Hey, fellas, that's gonna get into no extracurriculum, things that they're sailor things like that during the week, you know, praying that it touches the right. This is what's and I'm when you have no defensive leadership and people can say, yeah you can, you can
name all the guys you want it as leaders. That's fine. But to yesterday, it did not show up. It did not. After my man did what he did. Ahead, but at the guy, everybody buried Church Isaiah stand back, Chris mean, everybody just turned and we kind of looked at each other like, what did he just do? With the rep standing right there looking? I mean, how do you answer that? How do you go back in the huddle? You was getting ready to run off the field third down? How
do you go back, Fellas? My bad? My bad? I understand. And then the next play, the next few plays, the guy that you're supposed to be on. We heard that from Sharp from What's Kid eighty seven? We haven't heard that from him all year long. He came in here and now he's now here. He's um the first alternate for the Pro Bowl, where he got as players, were you surprised that Jordan wasn't benched at least for a
little bit for who? For who? I mean, you don't get better for who, just as not not because there was somebody better there, but just as a disciplinarian thing, you can't do this. No, you wear your option on. All right, he made a dumb mistake, and you try to give him some grace for that, especially if he's
not you know, repeat or repeater of fan. But also you're saying, hey, I still have a football game to go win, right, Think Think, think about what what the headlines would have been if Jordan Lewis headbuts a guy then gets bench and they really they blow us out and saying, oh what do you guys do? Which we're trying to win the game. Handle that later and in some instances you do, right. We all we've all heard.
I don't know if Nate told her, know, Michael Ervin has told us several times before, when who's Eric Williams when he was missing? Yeah, during the Super Bowl and it was like, hey, if anybody goes missing, it're not on time of the night, you're not gonna play. And then like you know, one of your players goes missing and not on time, He's like, well, we're gonna deal with that after the super Bowl, but who don't have
to go win this football game first? So you know, you know, you always say, you know, everyone's treated fairly, but everybody ain't treated the same, and the same thing goes for this situation right here. Yeah, what what do you do? You miss Jorge Lewis for a quarter? Four half? All right? Now, the guy the back of guy you put in, he's he's he's not as good as George Lewis, doesn't have the experience and gives up bookoo about the
plays and how you really in the deficit. That that's just that's one of the coach thing you say, all right, we discipline them, we yell at him on the sideline, we correct it. It's one of our veteran guys, so we hope that he doesn't do it again. But you can't you can't bitch a guy in this game at that moment for that penalty. And you know, we we're huge fans of Jordan Lewis on this show, and we all know why why is he not getting more playing time?
Maybe this is why. Maybe there's things that they've seen that they can't you can't trust, and that's maybe that's preventing them from getting playing time. I don't know who knows. Man, sad day, cowboy Land. We're gonna take a break, we come back. I mean, should we even talk about should we even talk about the Giants game? Does it even matter? Should we just talk about we gotta we gotta put a bowl on it. Man, we gotta put a bowl on it. Let's put a bowl on it. You know what,
Hamm and the nail and you gotta slam this thing. Shit, I was being nice. Ham with spikes, Brody Nate wants to go dart on them. Jessea dig the hole. When we come back on hanging with the Boys? com Forward Slash Cowboys. All right, fellas, before we get back into it, just some stats that kind of jump off at me. Your punter nice wander average forty eight point five yards a punt, he's good. Your kicker four for four along of fifty seven yards, he's pretty good. Your tight end was your leading receiver with ten targets, seven reception for seventy yards. He's pretty good. Andy Dalton is your leading rusher, which is pretty sad. Seven rushes
for forty eight yards. But I will tell you this. You know, we we we bag on on Zeke when he's not doing good. He he showed a lot of heart yesterday after after the game, he talked about he's been battling a hamstring injury and a quad injury. He ran hard, like he ran with heart. You know, I know we give him a hard time on this show sometimes, but you know, he only averaged three yards to carry. But I thought he went out there and you could tell he was struggling, and I thought, you know, you
run with heart. Didn't translate to a lot of yards, a lot of not averaging a lot of yards, But hats off to Zeke. So one of some things. Are they any positives? Go ahead, go ahead, Kurt Well, I kind of wish I cut in some ways. They gave up on the running game too early. I kind of wish they had stuck with Zeke a little longer, and maybe he was too banged up to really do a lot. But I mean, fourteen carries, that's they don't win football
games where they're given to seek that few. You know, that not that much work, I guess, and I realize, okay, good response, thank you, But uh yeah, I realized that the offensive line was probably struggling. But uh, I mean if you look at the game, this was a game Kurt that and Shannon and jest that I emphasized all week. This is where you would see, uh that our offensive line when't as efficient as they should be. And it's told in the red zone where blocks have to be
a little bit more precise. Uh, it's told at key times at a game when you needed to hold and Lennard Williams and his crew made some big plays. And that is where you see where this uh, the deficiencies of our offensive line and where they have been successful with other defensive lines that wasn't as good as what Lena William was bringing yesterday. It hurt us, man, I mean, and when your quarterback opens the game kind of off character a little bit. It took a while for him
to get into a groove and they right there. They was down by well almost twenty points at a certain time, and their defense just kept continue to build mo minimum minimum Minnisoma. They held on even because we know, and I'm not trying to be funny, I'm just talking serious. We know, at some point in time in the third quarter, Jason Garrett will get you a chance to get back in the game. He gonna go ultra conservative and gonna give you the opportunity to get back in the game.
He gave us that opportunity to get back in the game. But every time Lena William will raise up and make a big play, either hit on your quarterback or either sat one of the other guys. You know, Martinez was not missing any blocks yesterday, and when he came on blitzes, he was thumping. So they took advantage of their situation
and then their opportunities. Whereas when it came to us, you know, we were one for Ford in the red zone goal to goal, we was only fifty percent, but gold to goal that means what five yards and less? That you got to be one hundred percent, and we wasn't. So like you said, Shannon, we got a great field goal kick them, but it can't win games. You know, we got a great pune, but that means you can't
convert third downs. So everything you said was great, but it didn't shine for the Dallas Cowboys because it didn't go towards your win since two thousand and nine. This is the quick stat. This is from Bobby Belt. This is a quick stat and it makes me laugh because I essentially got fired over this stat. But it makes me laugh. Sif two nineteen the Cowboys record when they scored at least thirty points, We heard that somewhere before. Yeah, they're fourteen and two, tied for the third most wins
in the NFL. Dallars record when they score less than thirty points. They're oh and fifteen, the only NFL team without a record, and now they're owing sixteen. Every other every other team in the NFL has at least two wins when they score a fewer than thirty points. So the Cowboys are oh and sixteen when they score less than thirty points. I mean they're o and yes sixteen
when they score less than thirty points. Since two thousand and nine, this team, this this team has been and probably will be going forward, will always be a team that is built to have to score points to win. Nate and go ahead, go ahead, go ahead. We're not gonna fire you man, go ahead on that. Uh that
that that that's built to win that way. And when you don't and you don't have a defense that's going to be able to step up when it consider and basis and see that's why we and I think Nate was the one who coined it the last a couple of weeks ago, that don't don't don't bite the cheese, and don't fall for the fool's goal. That's what happened the last three games leading up to the Giants. We
we we it was fool's goal. And then we're getting we got into the game and all of a sudden, now we couldn't block anybody, we couldn't run, we couldn't score points. And I know that you don't have your q your QB. I get it, I understand it, but you have to understand what you are as a unit and maybe maybe Mike and Nolan and Kellen don't quite fully understand what they have with this team. I mean,
you had them all year long. Uh, but this this is a team who it's so frustrated because we see the names, and we look at the rosters and we compare names to other rosters, and the difference is ours don't equate to w's not significant enough W. And that's the frustrating part is when you look around the league and you're saying, man, this guy is as good as this guy, but this guy on the other team that may not be as good as a guy that's really good on our team helped them equate to victories. Now,
I don't know what I mean. We don't have enough show to list the number of things. Is it coaching? Is it? Players? It is it? Ownership? Is it we don't trust me? We can go an entire week trying to break this whole thing down. Bottom line is it's it's sad, it's frustrating. It's unfortunate that a team built like this it can't produce victories, especially in the moments
when it mattered. This game was was literally put The Giants really had nothing to play for and I truly believe, I truly believe if we would have given them a reason to quit, they probably would have shut it down. They probably would to shut it down because they're not playing for and you know they're playing for something, but they're not playing for something. We kind of knew how that Washington game was gonna end. We knew that that that was gonna end bad for whoever was playing in
that in the early morning game. But we went out there and they gave us. They literally gave us opportunity after opportunity after opportunity, and we looked we were like it was like winning the game was like you know, like hey, I like like, I don't want to catch
COVID now, I don't want to win this game. It was like no, no, no, no, don't think you don't don't you stay away three states, stay six feet away, don't don't come near me, don't be around me, socially distanced from me because they were, I mean, even down to the last second where the kid makes his own self fumble. They just don't have it, man, This team just does it. This, this franchise, this organization just doesn't happen. And I don't know what has to happen or who
would have to happen with to change it. But it's a frustrating thing, man, I tell you it's right here. Man. I remember one year, man, we needed cornerbacks, and I'm talking with jim and we needed cornerbacks. We needed defensive players, and Jimmy dedicated this whole offseason to get to getting those players. I was telling Kurt before we got on
the air. You know, even even the Green Bay Packers's greatest Aaron Rodgers is they saw like, we're not going anywhere past the second round if our defense can't get us a turnover every nine and then if our defense can't get off the field sometime. And as we played better and better teams, you go back, you look at the Giants. They played ball, they played Baltimore, they played the Cardinals, and they played another team and they lost
those games against higher competition. And you know, yeah, and we sitting him playing this that and this that and this that, and they're not very good, but we're trying to build momentum, you know. And I'm serious, a great, great, great, but yesterday this New York team defensively kind of played at that level of what they've been playing against and it showed up. Versus our offensive line, it showed up. And so I just feel like you're right here at
one day, one time. Sooner or later, that's got to change. When you said fifteen and two thirty or more points, thirty or thirty or less points, and you have not had a defense that has been efficient enough to give you two or three wins over that period of time. And that's and when it hits you the most. It's when you're getting ready to go to the playoffs when
everybody takes up a level. So I'm with y'all. This is a different league, but at some point in time, you have to have a defense that can get you that ball at the proper time. Are you have to have a like Eleve Blake martinezs who just played I'm just who played just soundball, don't miss tackles and be lined up in the right place. That's what the Kansas
City Chiefs defense does. They're they're not super great. They got one or two studs over there, but they line up in the proper place, does the right thing, and they stay in their land. They don't go into the thousand miles an dollarly, they don't go over to Europe and get on that fast freeway over there. They stay at You get what I'm saying, I'm gonna give you. I'm gonna give y'all a little bit of hope, But then I'm gonna give you a little bit of realism too.
I hope it's gonna get some old. Look. I fully believe if you would have had had your your starting quarterback and your starting offensive line this season, you would have dominated this division. All right. So I have hope on the offensive side of the ball because I think, but that's the foot that's football, that's the NFL. You're gonna get injuries, You're gonna get guys hurt. You gotta here's what you gotta do. You gotta take care of your quarterback. In the off season, we saw the ship.
Let me say that we weren't. We weren't the only team in the division that lost players. The Eagles spent most of them, just a lot of their guys. I agree with, I agree, I agree. Everybody can say that if we had, if Carson Wish was playing like he played two years ago, they would probably dominate this division. If Saint chron Barkley and other guys didn't and other guys didn't get hurt for the Giants maybe they played. So I mean, that's a great it's it's a great
conversation to have. I don't want to steal your thunder and still your hope that you're trying to give out the people you already did. I mean, okay, I'm sorry. I don't talk. I don't talk very often on the show. What I do, I just you know, in the whole Jesse Doug like like the like the turd that they laid yesterday and just covered me up. Like he didn't even wait on Nate to cover me. He just he dug it, cover me up. No, I agree with you.
That is the nature of the NFL. Everybody deals with injuries. But I if your your offensive line was serviceable, right you your you got. You gotta take care of your quarterback this offseason. Number one. You can see what this team does without a quarterback. You're gonna beat the teams. You're gonna struggle with the teams that you should easily beat, which is what they did. They struggled. They won the games,
but they didn't dominate anybody like they should have. You get your offensive lineback Okay, you're good on offense, but you have got to address like Nate, echo into what Nate says every single year this off season, you have got to address the defense. You have got to get quality defensive players in here. You can't go take flyers on Taco Charlton's and guys that might work out. You're
Jalen Smith, You're Bruce Carters. You got to get some guys in here that are gonna help you, either through free agency or you have to draft to build this defense. Because what's gonna happen to you is what happened this year. You might get in the playoffs. You might limp in the playoffs at eight and eight or you know, nine and seven or ten and six, But you know what, as soon as you get in the playoffs, you're gonna get out class because you can't slow anybody down on
the defensive side of the ball. Now, the defense started playing better at the end of the year. They're getting turnovers. The young guys are starting to play, they're starting to figure out who they are. But like Nate said, you gotta get some playmakers. You gotta get some solid key pieces on the defense to even have a chance to get out of the first round of the playoffs. I'm
with you, Jesse Man. You can't the formula that you've had in place the last ten, twelve, fifteen years, all these you got big name guys, but you don't have a cohesive unit on both sides of the ball. You've gotta fix that and out. I'm with you. I don't know how you fix it other than going You got your offense where you want on it? Great, we got it. We can score thirty points if all the starting pieces are there every game. You gotta be able to slow
somebody down the other side of the ball. Go fix it. Go fix it now, Go ahead, Jesse people on that. You know what, man, shadow that what I'll tell you what, man, this is what. This is the bad thing about this Dallas Cowboys team, and I want your input on this. Is as good as we can be on offense, is well equally as bad on defense. I'm just over exaggerated. Are we just that? Do we have a one key player that can just turn this around out there in
free agency? In the draft? Is you get what I'm saying? Because a lot of times, like Green Bay, when he got two guys, two outside guys, and he changed their faith. Are we that close? Are that far away in y'all estimate? That's a that's my worries. I'm not sure this is
a quick fix. You know, you're gonna have to start building and you've got some pieces maybe you know, you've got Randy Gregory, Marcus Lawrence, maybe Trevon Diggs got some pieces there, but you know you need to You've got a lot of rebuilding to do in that area too. So I don't know. But but again this but because of the offense, you really just need an average defense. You just you gotta do better than awful, you know.
But Kurt, Kurt, you're putting you know. You know what worries me with that, Kurt is the guys that you that you that you have to keep around or that are probably going to be here next year. A lot of them are guys that you need to start over. What you need to get those guys out of here? That that's my big concerns. There are some guys on this team. I'm not gonna name names because I have to deal with these guys. There are guys on offense and defense that you need to get out of here.
You need to get them out of here, and you need to start over at those positions. And I'm afraid to change. We talk about the culture all the time on the show. I'm afraid that those guys that you need to get out of here and start over and get fresh guys in here and start building this thing with a new coach, a new coaching staff, or guys you're going to keep around for whatever reason, this reason
or that reason. And that's what I'm worried about, is because if you don't, if you don't churn this thing and go, this is the year we gotta make a change. Or guess what the next fifteen years is gonna be like the last fifteen because of the culture and the guys you have leading this team on both sides of the ball. It's not going to change. Because the new young guys that you got on this team that are balling out right now, you're Donovan Wilson's, you're CJ's, your
your digs, guess what you gave them? Fall in line. They're gonna fall in line just like everybody else that's come in here, and it's and it's they're gonna wind up. Head button guys, They're gonna wind up pushing guys off the pile because because you don't have people that stand up after the game when they're when they're on the you know, these ball losses don't bother them. Somebody stand up and tell you, shut the hell up. We just
got kicked out of the playoffs. Shut up and be quiet on the bus ride, in the plane ride home like this is not fun. Change it? No, no, go ahead on. I mean, how you how your piece? Brother? I'm gonna tell you something. Me I was the biggest clown. Me and Kevin GOLDI just compete who gonna be the
biggest clown on the team. But when that whistle blew and you look in Troy am Charles Hayley, Michael Irving, when you looked in their faces, you get all the all the prankster, all the jokes to all that just seeped out of my body. Because it wasn't gonna be nowhere in the world. I'm gonna explain to them during the game, not after a game, doing a game, whyhead buddy,
that guy. It wasn't gonna be no explanation. You know, it's got to be so much pressure on you as a player to perform for yourself and for your teammates that you cannot think of anything else. That's why I think I had a game man early in my career. Why I got hyped. I got actually hyped. I went out there and got a couple of whole independalence, a couple off sides, you know. I mean they were racing to me at halftime, Coach Johnson, Troy Egg but they were racing to getting me to cuss me out, like
what are you doing? Brother? Get control of yourself because they knew I was hyped and they had never seen me like that before. So I came back out, I settled down. Unfortunately won the game. But you got to know who he is as a player. And a lot of these guys are immulating guys that have gotten paid, who think they're gonna get paid, and they have no no responsibility to themselves or to the coaching staff or
to the players. You know. And maybe I'm saying it wrong, and maybe Jesse can be a little more eloquent and how he said, but you gotta have some responsibility in you in your clubhouse? Is that what I'm supposed to come in and say something? I no, no, no, I know we gotta take a break, so I didn't want to go into my soletto. Queen, we gotta take a break and tell let's come back. Yeah, let's take it. Let's take a break. We gotta We'll have a few

But it bothers me when when you know, it just seems like some people don't care. That's it, and you know, and it just came out. So I apologize,
not really, I don't apologize. Go ahead, brother Jesse I want to hear from jesse Man. Jesse Man, I mean, Nate, you you you hit it on the head man, and especially when you talk about first of all, one of the reasons why they got to go and get Dack signed, Like he is the life and the heartbeat of this football team, and it looks different when he's there. Not this is played, but just the lead ship and overall leadership,
but specifically his side of the football. And then you look on the defensive side of you're saying, where do we get where do we get our our beat from? Who? Who is our drum major, who is who is leading this band? What person are we getting our sound from? As far as players, you know, when you look at good teams, they say attitude reflects leadership, and you know the guys on either side of the ball is that when they speak, you listen when they talk, You adhere
to the message. When they say something, it's it's done. And a lot of times I think there's so many different voices. And again it's hard when when did they respect a guy like Sean Lee. Yeah they do, but they don't because they know, like Sean Lee, you know, you're the old man. You don't relate to me, you don't understand us. You you're the thirty five, You're the thirty five year old in the locker room, thirty whatever you are you're the old guy, and so you say, well,
well is it Tank? Well, I don't know if he I don't know if he's a leader in the locker room. We think he is. I know that he comes out and he says great stuff. But how many people are across the board, not just his guys up front, his capadres up front as hot boys up front, But what are the guys in the back end saying? Are they are they beating to a different drum? And so you're you're kind of always looking around and saying, where do we get where do where do we get this from?
Where do we get our our our passion from? I look at teams like you know, when you when you talking about the Ravens, when you had a guy like ray Lewis. Now, I'm I'm not saying that you have to have a guy who's a Hall of famer, But when you had a guy like that, when he spoke, everybody in the room listened and it was I'm not telling something that to tell you what I'm telling something's going to help us all and how to help us all?
You know, I know that there's players who I personally know who would say about the legendary film sessions that Ray Lewis or that ed Ree would put on because they were saying, like, listen, here's what we gotta be fellas this on us. We either got to improve, we got to hold this thing down. And so they would take the time out. And I know this year is different in a way, but I don't see guys on this team doing that. I don't see guys to being
able to speak up on the matter. And it really be it really drive home to every single guy on that side of the ball. And that's that's where we're at. And so now you're trying to you're trying to set a temperature for a side of the ball, and you got all these different gauges and none of them are connecting at the same time that you you you have a lot of guys, and you know, you talk about the brands and all that kind of stuff. This team has to find a way to get football players football players,
like that's legit football players. Because you have a lot of guys who love football and love the game, but you also have a lot of guys who love what the game gives them, who love what football brings them. And when you have too many of those who just love what football brings them and not a love guys
who love the game of football. That's when you start having this off kilter type situation going on, and you have historically bad sides of the ball, or you have a position group that is not performing to the level you needed to perform to. I think this team has a lot of guys who don't love football, but a lot of guys, and not all of them. I'm not saying all of them, but there's a lot of guys, and there's enough key eyes who play a large majority of snaps who love what the game gives them. And
when you have that, you'll never have success. I don't care how hard you try, I don't care how You'll never have success when you have a group of men on your team that are significant contributors to offense or to defense or to special teams, when they love what football brings and gives and they don't love the game. Because those guys are not gonna give it up for you. Those guys are not gonna put the time in for you.
Those guys are not gonna sacrifice for you. They'll do a little bit, they'll do just enough, but that that that just enough will get you to the game, it won't win you the football game. And this is why you've seen what you've seen from this football team this year. Too many guys love what the game gives them, not a guy. Not enough guys love the game of football. Yep.
It's like the guy in the gym that wants to walk around in the in the in the in the tank top that says beast mode, but he wants to go walk on the treadmill for twenty minutes and leave and hit the shower.
