The following He's a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club, Blowing out of the backfield, exploding down the sidelines. He's hanging with the Boys, broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star in Frisco. Now your host Nate Newton, Kurt Daniels, and Shannon Gross Monday after Easter. All you people that gave up booze for lent can get after it now. Kurt, you got a bottle in your pocket? Yeah, yeah, I got stashed. Yeah.

What's going on, Nate? Not much, my friend, just checking it out, man, looking at the draft magazine, just you know, looking at these you know, bad drafts man Broadest and Dave Hellman Hill Yeah, bad drafts man. What you mean? Okay, let me go through this rec quick back. But wait before you get into that. What what y'all? What y'all do for Easter yesterday? Hung out with the family? Yeah, did you do anything with the family? Okay, okay, Mama bro Mama grows came to town, hung out a little bit.

Family hung out with the family. Nah, he didn't come see me? Okay, too far to drive, all right? Yeah, make a bitinesscue. Okay, Brian brought this guy on the draft pick he got, see this is a bad draft. He got Zach Allen, he got a h. Deven's man Boston College. You got this Trice Tristan Hill Divn's the tackle. And then we finally get to the offense, you know, and then he still got a safety with us. That's wrong. Jonathan Abraham's safety. This Dave Hellman. Then he got a

Deefen's man. Then he finally get you the running back. Then Rob Phillis got a Divas Evn the safety. Then he finally gets the running back. That's wrong. All you need is one defensive player, whether he's a Divas a man or divas a tackle, and everything else got to be offered. I want to know, really, if Nate bumped his head two weeks ago, I don't know, shout don't what about you know? They need linebacker death, they need safeties, they need defensive tackles. I mean, how do you how

do you address all that? You go out and get one impact defensive tackle. It's a lot of them in the draft. It's a lot of them in the draft. It'll be one there at fifty eight. You get that one, dude, unless unless like one of these studs, stud guys that that's maybe an outstanding safety or something slip to you. But ain't none of these guys slipping, Bro. This is

a this is a this is a meager draft. And what I mean by that is you may fourteen to fifteen guys, maybe sixteen that has a true first round grade on them. So what you're saying is the quality premium talent as at all time high. So if you move it up, you got to overpay. Yeah. So even if a guy slipped into the second round, but how many players that's forty something players that he got to slip it out? About forty seven? Before you even think about it, you still gotta get a king's ransom. Don't

do that. Just get that super stud defensive lineman, defensive tackle our defens event, and then just go to get an offense. So you're going defense first, I'll go defense that I really would like to just go all offense. But if you're gonna get an impact defensive lineman, I'm with that. Because this is supposed to be a pretty deep draft at D line, right. Yeah, most of the mock drafts out there have us taken a defensive guy

with our second round pick. Most of them have it as a safety, So I don't know how to be interesting. What would you do? Well, I'd probably go the safety defensive tackle route, one of those two. I think. Yeah, what my question to you, brother, Kurt, glad to see you. Yeah, sounds like I've been trying. What what what would you do? What? What's the quickest impact on defense? What is the quick exam pressure on the quarterback? Okay, so we're gonna blitch

this safety? What fifteen times a game? Well? I guess that. But do you have more depth and talent right now defensive line than you do with safety? Okay? What's wrong? What's wrong with Jeff Heath? What's wrong with they? What's wrong with Xavier Woods? What's wrong with Cavon Frasier? Yeah? Yeah, is that group needing more help than because Mike Collins. It's a tackle that I'm talking about coming in an automatically gonna get twenty five snaps? Is your safety coming

in at the second pick? Is that guy? Hey man, we're starting him? Yeah? I don't think so, don't think so. I don't well with the guys you got in front of him. Jeff heath Woods. Ioka, I think those two of those three are going to be your starters. This guy, I think would have to sit for a year. But okay, so you're saying your defensive tackle would start, I think he'd be in the rotation. I think he would get on the field. I mean, I don't know if this

safety is gonna get on the field. And if fifty eight, I mean, I mean, if you're in the first round, I think, yeah, Okay, drafted, drafted safety and he might start at least get on the field. I don't think he's gonna get on the field. Okay, we don't have a first round pick, and if we did, we'll pick it, what twenty seventh if we had a first und Okay, so most teams are gonna be able to pick twice

before the Cowboys get a chance to pick. We agree, right, Okay, Nick Bolts, Josh Allen, h Rashawn Gray, Montez, Sweat Farrel. These guys will be gone. These guys will be gone. But it's no guarantee that Zach Allen, Jonathan lad Better, Austin Bryant, Christian Miller. Ain' don't guarantee these guys gonna be gone. Seen a couple of people tell I guess with Zach Allen, I'm just letting you know it is there to be had. We we tell you what man,

y'all have a nice show. I don't stay in my case, I'm going dug come in here and get one of the best guy available, is an offensive guy. You can't leave now you only get like you won't get your whole five dollars for the show. Why did you change? Let me ask you this, Why did you change? And Robert Quinn that's it, that's the reason. Why. Huh? What if your best? So now you're everything to help dak. I think you said that last right, everything to help that.

But you still want to go defense? First first pick, second round? You you Xavier was Jeff Heath. Uh what's the other guy? Oka? If we draft the guy, it would be a shame, a downright shame. Oh well, we drafted him and uh, but he's just not ready. Okay, we standing at that with anybody that we draft. Sure, but we don't wait to the safe. There a guy that's the last line of defense versus a guy that can make something happen right away. Which one do you want?

Okay'm not trying to sell you on this. I'm just saying the last time that I wanted a guy and the Cowboys didn't I get these guys. One of them was named Luke Kinckley, and this other guy was in the same draft with him, named Fletcher Cox. They didn't want him. I've heard of those guys. Fine, I've heard of those guys. But the guy that we went and guy was a great athlete and if he wouldn't have been hell hurt, he probably would have been a killer. And that was more clay Born. That's who we moved

up and got. That's who we gave up the grocers for to go get to get to big, get the big steak, you know. Flescher Cox still moving around, folks. Luke Kinkley at for eighteen concussions, still a settler, eight time Hall pro FINNI going the Hall of Fame. I'm just saying, I'm just saying, you're gonna get the safety. I want the defense of time. What are you doing, Kurt Safety? You're sticking with it? No, I'm not necessarily Wow, I could just tell you who to get now. They're

not just saying many to go defensive or safety. I'm not I like your argument. So who are you draft time? It's time to pick, and you have two guys, a safety and a D lineman that are both right there together on your draft board. One of them is not any better than the other. You're going safety or you're going D line. It's tough. Um, the grade is no better than another. Mhm, same grade, same grade. I just

I feel like we need more help at safety. But I understand, I mean, obviously more example, his argument makes perfect sense. The guys up front will probably have a bigger impact. But because all of the safetists, from what I'm looking at, what brought us. So I'm not saying it's not no good safetists, bro, but from what brought us is saying, and what what these other guys say? How are you doing that? Scott? You know what do y'all think? I mean, I'm just see me. I'm not

gonna go look at the film. I looked at college to college football season, and every announcer, regardless of whether he was doing a Division one game or Division five game, you know what, everybody said, wash a lot of defensive tackles out there this year, even even in the games where kids at the pay for scholarships. So there's fewer safeties and more defensive tackles. Should you try to grab that safety and then come back later and get the

defensive tackle? But but but it ain't. But what I'm saying is it ain't but four or five prominent safety if they're all gone and no point. So I'm like, we're gonna reach out there and get no a possible dud. You can't reach. That's the thing. Yeah, that's and that that's my issue. Okay, safety? What is the Thanni Thannist part of the book that? Wow? Ain't no. Look look at here, man, look at it. And I'm going about in the house. We we we got more on what we got in this book on any page then on

safe this. So that's telling me that it's only what one, two, two people that's on the em on the front page. What's up with that? A lot of people? It's nice, the same as only other ones? Wow, the same same amount of players. Yeah, I think y'all getting jip financial y'all wait on sa Doug, what do you what are you doing to a great job with the magazine. I look forward to it every wednes Thank you. Gil doug what are you doing in the draft? Yeah, I want a fast backup running back for Zeke in the in

the second round. I could, I wouldn't. I wouldn't feel horribly if if that was the best talent at that spot. I want uh interior defensive linemen just like Nate would. I would feel great if that were the best talent at that spot. I'm not against offensive line. I don't think think they can have enough when you consider that we're hopeful for Frederick and we're hopeful for Tyrn Smith to be healthy, but we know how that has affected things in the past. And I think I think we

took care of wide receiver. But if if there were a nifty slot type wide receiver, not a not a a featherweight like Lucky Whitehead, but a stout third wide receiver, I would not feel horribly about that either. So basically, dougs good with anything but a quarterback any other position to get at. And and here's my thinking. I mean, Dak Prescott's best year was when he was surrounded with options, and since then, statistically or however, people may think he's regressed,

but he also hasn't had the talent around him. So if you're gonna win with Dak, give him tools. And that's what Nate's been saying. Yeah, and I think, uh, offensive line running back. I mean, because you can use a second running back. If the guy's trait is speed, you can get that. You can use a running back like he did Lucky whitehead um and use it much well. I think he was used pretty effectively. If a running back in the second round, hopefully because what was Lucky

White had a free agent. Let me say, let me let me say this, young men and old men, Kurt, this this is what if you're going out if you get a running back, remember this. All I need is from this backup running back is you have to be explosive. You get what I'm saying you. You got to be. We can't put you in for eight plays a game or ten plays a game and you average let's say, we can hand you the ball, you average two three

point three point five yards a rush. I have a hard time taking a running back in the second round, you know. But no, no, I'm just standing. But if you got a guy that can get ten plays and and one of them plays gonna be like a forty yard burst, catch a ball, like the kid from Atlanta used to do. Yeah, you know, look at Chris Johnson. You remember Chris Johnson. Yeah, yeah, he was what a third round pick, maybe a second You gotta have a back that's explosive and maybe uh Rod, maybe Rod is it.

Maybe maybe with the new officsive coordinator, maybe he can be that explosive guy. But you can't have a running back as you put it in the game and all of a sudden, just like we fall off a cliff three yards in a cloud of duty. So whether you get him in the fifth round or whether you get him in the second round, we got to have a game a back that can change the game on a limited amount of carries. Yeah, and they be Johnson was

a first round or there. And they've been trying it seems like the last since Lance Dunbar, they've been trying to force somebody into that position. It looked like you may have had it with Tavon until he got hurt. Who knows he'll be back, so maybe that still still roll with us. So you know, whether you get running back in the third or the fourth, which don't bother me, which we've done here, but they got to be guys

that can be a difference maker. Yeah, Now he had a guy from Oklahoma that was pretty good in the third round. Back to these safeties straight. Brian's pet cat is a guy named Tyler Rapp Okay where he had Washington, Okay forty yard He run a four five bench press, seventeen vertical, thirty five board broad jump was one fifteen. Now, this type of guy that is a football player is number don't stand out to you. But what broddess is seen on the film must be outstanding for real, must

be outstanding. And h a guy like that making play in this league a long time, you know. But he's said he plays near the line. He has a field for us, a signment. He has some range, fights through trash, nice job trimming the run, Blitz timing the Runblitz has the ability to run and close quickness on his feet, can stay with his man in coverage, shows read reader direction skills. Now you know Rap has seven interceptions, playmaker, one defensive touchdown for the Huskies and all American various

outlets in two thousands and nine. This could be your guy here man NFL comparison Patrick Chung, That's what that's one of the things I like the best about this magazine is not only do they tell you about these guys, they tell you who they're comparable to, who they look right, And let me tell you something when I look at this right here, have y'all Jesse Bates, Kevin Bird, uh Thrill, Edmund's, Marcus Genre, Eddie Jackson, A lot of these names of pros that we even heard of that these got to

get compared to. Let's get a safety. That's how deep they got. How do you get this magazine, Kurt, Let's get a safety. in a minute. But I wanted to know what you guys think. There was a quarterback that Dak Prescott has been compared to early in his career. It just got paid last week. Yeah, you got a lot of money, didn't he and drove the quarterback price tag even higher than what it's been. And he's kind of a similar You know, there have been the Dak Russell Wilson comparisons. What do you think this does for? Well, obviously probably made Dak really happy because that means his his bottom

number is gonna go up. So what do you what do you think? I still think you gotta lock him in. Yeah, I think what Russell paid, he got about thirty five million a year, and I don't I mean, Dak isn't gonna get that. No, but I think he's gonna get twenty five to thirty. I mean, you look at the top seven highest paid quarterbacks right now, he's got more wins than any of them the last three years. Yeah,

and here's the deal. I think Dak has all Hey, don't be surprised if he gets paid some crazy amount because he has all the leverage. Ownership has already put all their eggs in that basket and said, you know, he's our guy. We're gonna get a deal done now. Hey, come this weekend when the draft rolls around. Who knows. But as of now, they have all their eggs in that basket, and Dak's just sitting back waiting, going, Okay, you're telling me, I'm your guy, show me his best leverages.

What's that that the only quarterbacks they've they've had since Hakman were accidents? Yeah, Tony Romo free agent. Dak was a fourth round Hey, let's see what happens. This team probably isn't confident that it can upgrade in the draft. You're saying, identify the right one. Yeah, and there's nothing wrong with Dak as far as paying him and hitching your wagon to him. Would you pay him thirty five million? No? No, no, what would you pay him? I think the twenty five

area is a good So you're spot. I think you're gonna get closer to thirty. I think you are too man. I'd rather it was twenty five, just because I want to put more talent around him. But I understand if it gets close. Listen to who your top seven guys are. The bottom one is Derek Cart twenty five million, Matthew Stafford at twenty seven, Garoppolo at twenty seven and a half, Cousins at twenty eight, Matt Ryan at Aaron Rodgers at thirty three and a half, Russell Wilson at thirty five.

I think he falls in between minimum, Kirk, Cousins and Garoppolo arrange minimum. I do not want to brag. I do not want to brag, but brag. But I have to be a genius. I have to be a genius. Now, just because you're the smartest in this room does not make you a genius. I think that y'all did a magnificent job on this magazine. But y'all, now you tell me. I'm gonna ask you two guys, and you, Douglas, would you pay I du thirty million dollars a year and

not surrounding with every possible weapon you can. I'm just asking y'all, now tell me what you think I'm not gonna get me, Nate Newton. I'm not gonna give you thirty million dollars a year and not give you every thing on this field to succeed. Just him from wrong. What a you know, this show is a lot like

the Cowboys Draft when it comes to quarterbacks. We don't know what the hell we're doing, but it looks like we planned this segment to butt up against this so Nate could be a genius because exactly said, I feel like ourselves right, it's right right, it's nowhere in the world. I'm gonna go out and say, hey man, hey go thirty million dollars. We tried receiver and tight end by committee last year and it didn't work. But we went out and got you Amari Cooper and bought the thing.

Things turned around. So this ship here, we're not gonna do anything but give you thirty million dollars. But we're gonna go over here and draft like six or seven safeties. No no, no, that's not curve, that's not true. But the best in the second round. Right, that's just saying who can they draft? It would get impact him this year. Hold on baying his head on the top. That's what

you said, but brother, that's what I've been thinking. It's nowhere in the world I'm gonna give this dude now if I gave him twenty two twenty five, I mean, like, okay, all right, but at this point in time, you went out and got Quinn. That's what really changed my mind when they went out and got the other guy, because now Tyrone Crawford can truly be used anywhere we need him. Now we gotta pray that Collins come up and stay healthy. I told him to his face, I said, college man,

you my X factors, don't let me down. You know. Now we got Collins, we got Tyrone Crawford, we got Quinn, we got d Law. That's our front four A law with the human Law, along with r Ross, along with the kid we got from uh from from from the Texans. That's eight guys. That's seven guys. We need two more guys whether they do it. And now we got Darn's Armstrong.

That's that's eight. Yeah. So if these guys grow and be who they can be, Okay, I can live with Jeff Heath, I can live with Xavier, I can live with the rest of those guys can But what I cannot live with, is we give that thirty million dollars and we don't have that secure offensive line, or we don't have that secure spot at tight end, or we don't have that secure spot at that second running back.

I got to give Dad, along with his thirty plus million dollars, possibly every opportunity to win, because I'm gonna tell you what can't happen a year from now is we'll be sitting here, God bless it I be here. We'll be sitting here and saying, hey man, we all do we all pay that? We do not need that question, I promise you now, So let me tear all the pages out with defense. And you're paying him. You're paying him because ownership has already said they're paying him. Yeah,

that's what I'm saying. How do you approach this strap? You take an offensive guy in the second round? Man, if there is there a possible explosive guy in the second round, and I don't care if he a center, a guard, a tackle, I do not care because we have one spot that is not solidified. That's our left guard. Yeah, I left guard is not solidified. Everywhere else we are Collins is up out of this year. You cannot afford to pay Collins in the eight nine million dollars. I'm

just being honest. How you gonna do it? Right? Our right tackle is up after this year, So now we're gonna go back to Hey Dad, Look here, man, we know you want thirty one meal on average, but can you cut out a couple of meal we can play Collins. I don't think that's happen. So now we got a draft, right, but nearly every all right, every one of our guys on offense, go out and buy the Star. Every one of our impacts Dad, all you defensive players, they did

a great job. Sorry to all the work y'all did, and commentrain on offense. You know, every one of our nearly every one of our impact players on offense, or first or second rounders or first or second round talent, Yes a Collins. So I mean you're gonna take a second rounder maybe grab it tight in there and then and then how you're gonna fill in the rest of it? I mean, how kind of how can they impact this year? I asked the question, what position can give us the

most impact offensively? Or I don't care what it is? And right about now I have to agree we need better player out of our safeists, we do. And that's the bottom line. I'm not I'm not saying if they get a safety, you're not gonna hear me come in and say, oh man, really, But what I what I'm hoping and praying is is he an opening day starter and halfway through the season. I hope he at least got the basic coverages down, basic run defenses down, and he can flourish with what he knows. And that's in

time to teach him to rest. But if he come in and we're looking at a guy and be like he can't get on the field, yeah, well he got talent, but he ain't smart. He can't get on the field. That ain't gonna work. See Diva's alignement. You can put a fat plug out there and say, hey man, just old brown, just grab brown locketed. Yeah, yeah, you ain't gotta do that. Just standing right here. Don't be moved.

For the safety we asked him to call coverages, isn't it. Yeah? Now, would you take a second round tackle and knowing that Colins might not be back next year, where do you take a guy? You gotta have something gott smell pac man. If I'll take a left guard. I'll take me old fat water left guard and take the chance to compat. Now, if they spend a second round pick on the last year on the guard, I can't believe they do it again this year. Well, last year was a surprised that

we got Connor right last year? Has everybody thought that wide receiver was coming? Boy, wide receiver suck a round out of the University cornors. I'm like, yeah, yeah, And I'm still saying yeah, because he needs a year to grow and uh, fortunate, unfortunate he got hurt and he's getting He's getting this full year to grow right now. I'm just saying yeah. I'm just saying now, either I'm

a genius yeah, or you're a genius. I'm just smart. Well, it'll be interesting for sure this weekend to see what happened thirty million dollars thirty million, that's what will you surround it with a lot of a lot of defensive players. The schedule came out Wednesday. All right, let's go through this schedule. Whatiting good about it? Huh you're feeling good about have you seen that we're playing? Let's go through it. How many years have they opened up with the Giants

last since the stadium open, hasn't it? Almost every year it seems like they played the Giants either at home or on the road, but on Monday night. This time it's not. It's an afternoon game three twenty five at AT and T Stadium the New York Giants. And it's very weird. There's only two back to back road games and no back to back home games. It's home away, home away, at home away. Let me ask you this right here, put your early predictions down. No, let's do

that next week. Okay, okay, we know what your prediction. You don't play that game with us, you play it with other people, but you please, that's fine. I ain't know where I'm picking the Cowboys and lose expensively. They go out and get them. I didn't get the You're Super Bowl bust at Washington the second game of the season, noon kickoff. What does Washington have? I don't know. I don't think they got them backup, quarterback, the offensive line,

it's probably gonna be healthy. This year had an eighty seven year old. They got nice defensive tackles m hm. They resigned Adrian Peterson, looking for his second year, found the youth what's their wide receivers they lost one of them. They got the tight end that came read that can't stay healthy. And I'm just grabbing off the top of my head. Washington, ain't it man? No, or the Giants aren't for sure? Then you got Miami at home. That's another neon game should be. Yeah, we can throw out

what we think. Listen, we gotta go in deep. Yeah, first three games, though, you would think those are all three winnable games, and you hear this next stretch, you're gonna need to win them all all right? At New Orleans you got night game in the big easy that's never fun. And then they're and they're pissed off about this past year. Coach speech is gonna be, that's let it come down to the ref. Let's make sure we do what we have to do, and we beat them

at home, so they're gonna be mad about that. That's got to be a loss, right, Kurt? All right, now, we ain't talking what once talking wins, and I love we're just going, but I mean we we're not being hard to it. Neverbod always gonna do that, all right? Green Bay at home three twenty five. It seems like I ain't feeling green baby, because no, uh, everybody gonna try to put everything on Aaron Rodgers even seen me. Yeah,

I know, because they ain't got much else. Yeah, man, I love it Roger, but he gotta he gotta loaded Tony Packers. He probably in his mind nothing different than any other year after Jets one or two trips to New York three twenty five. At that time, Bill would be no wolf. They're gonna find out he still need off as line Hill CBS game. They've got to put some pretty good school players that will potentially that might be Tony Romo will be making that call, won't he? Yeah,

quarterback Son. October the twentieth at home against Philadelphia SNBC game night game. This is be a good game game, bro that could that that has early Division champ implications. Yeah, Wentz man, that is the game Wentz versus Dak the twenty seventh, that getting thirty plus meal with no talent around him. The Cowboys will not lose. Will not lose on the twenty seven because they have a ball. Then Monday Night Football at New York again on the ESPN

playing the Giants Monday Night Football fourteens. Last time we didn't open with the Giants at Hole. Really there you go. I thought it was longer than that, but there were I think we opened against them the years before that. It was like just a skip to year thing. Sunday, November the tenth, my birthday, we welcome the Minnesota Vikings to town at noon. They're gonna be mad. They're trying to make it from last year. Bro, that's gonna be a hell of again. They trying to make it from

last year. At Detroit, November seventeenth, noon game. It's time. I'm sorry. Minnesota is a Sunday night game seven Matthews Stafford. They got three night games with a buye in between, bruh, three night games four weeks they got so Jason, Jason will have a problems adjusted to that schedule. Yep, three three in a row, you know. Yeah. Then they back. They're only back to back road games of the season. After Detroit, they go to New England three twenty five game.

That one's on Fox. Then that stretched through was it one road game, one home game and like four or five weeks something like that. The way it works out, what's up during that stretch they have one home game in four or five weeks three on the road and a bye week. Yep uh Thanksgiving and they welcome Buffalo to town. Bring your folding tables and jump off the RBS. Bills Mafia will be making a trip to Dallas three thirty in the afternoon another Thursday, their second Thursday game

at Chicago seven twenty at night. I am not looking forward to at New England in into November at Chicago. At the beginning of December at Philly, coldest nights you've every Oh my god, the coldest night, coldest I've ever been in my life. Uh. Then the fifteenth of December, they welcome to La Rams. That playoff matchup Rams will be up. Y'all will wish y'all had the defense attacker that I prayed they may be here. They may have him three twenty five kick on that one the twenty

second at Philly three twenty five pm. And then to close out the season at home December twenty ninth against the Redskins at noon. Let me let me say this right here, say it. The reason I want that defensive tackle because our division says we should have him. Yeah, what do you think knew y're gonna run if they had the ball seventy five times? How many times you think they're gonna they're gonna pound barklay up the middle

when the old man Peterson? What you think Washington, they ain't got No, they ain't got they ain't got no quarterback. What you think they're gonna try to do? All right? All right, New Orleans they lost Ingram. But what you think they're gonna really try to do at home? Theyf in the brain to us running Green Bay. Now New York Jets. What you think they're gonna try to do. They're gonna throw him love, They're gonna hand it to him, throw it to him, toss it, frequency it fried, whatever

way they can to this dude. All right, Philadelphia, don't know what they're gonna do. But they got wentz back Minnesota from they got that guy from the Bears, didn't they running back? Yeah, big big guy, big guy Minnesota. They got rid of the office of coordinator because he would not run the ball. So you know what the next office the coordinator go overdue from Minnesota. They're gonna

run the ball. Now by this time, our defense if line is gonna start to wear now, oh, I think if we don't have this defensive one guy I keep sending the week, We'll have a very special guest. Tell you what don't hanging with a boys? You're like, damn you love? I mean, if you have a heart thing, then cutting the chord is scary. Since eighteen sixty five, Stetson hats are American made with pride right here in Texas. They are still the official crown of all self prospecting cowboys, and Stetson is proud to be on the field with America's team. Find steps and hats in the pro shop or at Stetson dot Com. Today, back to hang it with the bull. We are back.

We got a full house here in the studio at the Star Frisco sts On there. We got a Kurt to my right next to next. Okay, I'm lightening up Taylor across from me for Tay what and Taylor, you have a very very special guest. I have. I have somebody who Cowboys fans will know and love. Danny McCray.

Finally a safety that we know. Wow, he's a former cowboy, but now now he has joined us on the other side, the business side, and now you are the camps manager, so you handle all youth camps, DCC camps and everything in between for the youth of America, everything that has to do with football on the business side of the building. That's me. Yeah. Will McClay move over, Danny mccraine's here on the business side, Okay, football on the football side. Yes.

So how long you've been here, Danny? I've been here for six years now. I just started, uh this position right after a Super Bowl. So look at over two months. How did you How did you fall into it or did you calculate the maneuvere stuff? Until how did you get into it? Was a long old um. I went back to school after I finished playing ball. Yeah, actually went I went for twelve years. I don't need to go back with the Indiana University for my NBA. Did you say for the NBA the NBA NBA? Okay, I can't.

So I was searching and then I ended up in New York doing an internship. Wow. And you know New York is a lot different than Texas, since it is I had to come back home and Uh. I called Will McClay, Hey, can you help me out? You got something for me to do? And he was like, yeah, go meet with this person. I came up here and I met with people, and the rest is history. I'm on the football program. And how sweet man, how long were you? Uh, let's give him a cloud man, how long?

How long did you play here? Five years? Five here? And then five years here, one year in Chicago that was kind of in between. We went. I went to Chicago, we lost eleven games, everybody got fired. And then I texted Jason Garrett and said, hey, I would love to

come back. Yeah, as long as you're better than you were when you love Your last season here was four and twelve, right, yes, and then the Cowboys go on that thirteen three run and you're standing in Chicago like so, So we went to Chicago and it was negative ten degrees outside. Chicago blew us out. I go to Chicago, We played Dallas. Dallas blows out Chicago. I come back, we go four and twelve, then I retire and then they go twelve and four. Ye. You just can't find

the worst. But Danny tell us about the camps and not you're part of how many are there. We have fourteen camps throughout the summer um eleven of them or you've camps which run from first to seventh grade. We have four, I really four left of the high school camps and those are positions specific. So to be Big Man Camp coming up on my eighteen, we have a high school showcase at the end of the summer camp, Big Man Camp. Can we get some Can we get a big man out there? The show Newton get out there?

You know, since Kurt messed up this magazine and I don't know, man, but now just called me. Stay in touch, man, Yeah, yeah, I'll get my number, you know, if you really need. But it's just you look good, man, You smell good. I mean, just got married, has your hairs? Wow? Man, I mean listen you total package. Find out you have to stay in shape. When you're doing these youth camps. Kids will run you. It's from nine to three thirty. From nine to three thirty, it's all football with all kids.

And so how long this last? What's your period? Is it all year round? So so our first camp, our first youth camp, is um June third, and our last one ends on August seven. Hey, Hey, Hey all, y'all lot up this man run youth camps? How do they sign up? As you go to Dallas Cowboys dot Com slash Academy and you want to sign up for our camp and you want to do that before May first because early bird pricing is on. Ain't saying one more time? Help a little? Yeah? Yeah you go, yeah pricing. Make

sure mom signs you up before May first. Come see me. I'll teach you some good football. Yeah that was Cowboys dot Com slash Academy. So how how some camps are more hands on than others? What do you guys get in there and get in there and running drills? I am all the way in and as as I was as a player, I cannot let somebody else do anything for me. So when I'm at the camp, I'm running mostly the defensive positions. But I don't think. You don't

yell at the kids, do you not? Don't yell? But you know, if it's exciting, if if they're not doing the drill right, I will not hesitate to demonstrate. Ok, do it. So if I do tackle a dummy, I'm going for speed and tackling the dummy. Kurt, did your kids ever go to these camps. Or he turned this kid on the musicians and brass and you know, horns and stuff. You know, some football players start to go do balletter walk on the craft and stuff. So you know you could he's good. He's a big kid. He'd

be at your big man camp. But an interest in football. Yes, really replay the podcasts. Maybe a company. You get a free standing room ticket to a preseason game. For signing up to two of those, you get Nike swag. Wow, you get to meet the current Dallas Cowboys player. Wow and me have an all star coaching staff filled with former NFL athletes coaches from all over the areas. So

our curriculum is excellent. It fits every position, and we work from first grade and we get the first grades with the first graders, second with second and on up. And as the age goes up, the drills are more detailed. So we also have a super Bowl trophy for for the winning flag football team. We run a tournament at the end of each camp. So I got one important question that's a little bit in football, but it's off

of your camp. If the Cowboys was to get a safety in the second round, what should they kind of be looking for in this situation because we have Jeff, He's Xavier Woods, Kaba Frasier, and we signed another guy and I love them too, and I don't feel like we should get one in the second round. But if we do, what are you what are you looking for there? I mean, you can be as a specific as you want, thank you. I didn't graduate, so I played with Jeff Heath.

Jeff Heathen, He's been a solid player for a while. Um, I think that if you are going to go out and get a safety, he cannot be incrementally better than the ones that we have, right, If you go out and get one that you have to be here, Yeah, yeah, yeah, way over that guy, right. So, and I think the guys that we have, it'd be difficult for you to find somebody that's that's that good. Right, Yeah, you know, I'm an LSU guys, So if you really want to

do it, just wait till next year. Grant Dale putting number nine, number seven LSU. This year, you wait and you go get him. What do you think they should do in the first round this year? The second round? First? Maybe you met like should they trade up? Should they the first round? I've screwed up. Well, I mean, you know, as much as I have been paying attention, and I kind of I was watching the show before I got here. And we don't have a second team running back, right,

so why not hurt? So why not getting one right? That eight to ten carriage? Like you said, they have to be explosive. It has to be somebody when when they come to the game. The defense has to have scheme for them. They have to feel to put some time into like, Okay, this guy's in the game. Everybody should. The Bears got the Bears had a big, big bruiser, right, and then it had to look back up guy man. Now he's unique. I can't think of his name for

the Bears, little scatterble man. You can find good calling back later. Do you want to have to spend a second round pick on a guy who's gonna get ten snaps a game. He might get ten snaps a game, he might get more, But right now, running back is an important position for us because our online is so good. So you want a guy, like you said, not a drop off when he comes in the game. Now, I would love the defense to take a break when when I just I wonder you can get that guy later.

I guess what my question is, what if something happening to Zeke? Are you good with just Rod Smith and not on Wood? But what if something happened to Zeke and we just have a guy back there? How are you gonna feel scared? Yeah? Sure, But again, I'm just saying you there's a lot of good running backs up there later. I'm just worried you talking earlier about earlier about switching. Can we interview this man? We brought him

in all of them. I also can't offend any of the current players, And since we don't have a second team running back, it's easier for me to say, how how involved are you? Do you talk to any of the guys? I know you and you and Dre used to play together, and he's he's on He's still in scouting, right, he's still in scouting. See y'all talk? Do you talk to you guys? Little Tanner, Josh print Um in the front office, Me and Will McClair from Houston. So he gave me that phone call and told me that they

would pick me up undrafted free agent. So we still talk Um. The player personal Helpit Brian Wansley like all those guys. Most of the guys outside of that have kind of faced out on other places, but I still keep in contact with those very church Barry church Well Claiborne, Orlando came to his wedding. Hey, speaking of wedding, when when when did this happen? This was Saturday. Man, I'm a new man. That feel weird. Huh. Yes, I put it on before left. I haven't haven't learned to sleep

in yet. Speaking of the draft, what was that process like for you? You run? You were undrafted? Right? Yes? What's that? How nerve racking is that day? And then how what was it like when Will did call you? I gotta be completely honest, I removed. I wasn't getting drafted really, but when the draft was on, I thought I was getting drafted. Yeah, I said. I watched every round.

I saw all my friends get drafted. And then the end of the seventh my phone run and I'm like, oh, please, don't let it be mister Llan, And you know, they called. It's like we're gonna try, but we don't really think we have a pig, but we'll call you after. I'm like, yes, all right, let's do it. So they called and after that it was we back to playing football. So five years you were on two contracts, uh three, three contracts my rookie I did my rookie year and then I

did a one year. I did a one year in Chicago, and I did a one year when I came back to that. So I was undrafted free agent four five years, six years? Wow? Yeah, year the year of years of your training camp meant everything to me. Everything, all the reps meant everything for me. Preseason under the drafted guys. Last I'm saying, Yeah, that's how long we got me

and Barry Church that year at safeties. So we were both undrafted free agent safeties and Barry one on the play nine years, I believe got him a big contract in UM Jacksonville, So we did all right. Yeah, do you know this guy was undrafted too, I did, so he might not remember we used to do radio shows together when Yeah, I forgot what I tell it was that we did a couple of them. Yeah, now checked this out. Yeah I remember that. Yeah, remember wondering Me

and Kurt were undrafted too. Still was the first round pit So I can't relate to you guys. Hey, let me ask you this, right, here. I love I love the way if you never know where would you would you pay a guy thirty plus millions and not surrounded with talent? You know, arguing that point. Nobody is arguing that point. I'm just saying he's like Kurt just no, I didn't know who's doing that hurt. No, Cowboys wouldn't do that with Dak Pratt. That's never said. Here's what's

happened over the last like three to four weeks. Up until about three or four weeks ago, Nate was we needed every pick needs to be defense. We need a fireplug in the middle, we need a safety, we need this, this, and this. They signed Robert Quinn, and Nate's like draft

all offense. The whole draft needs to be offense. So today, last week he's just been hammering that home because we were talking about Russell Wilson getting paid and Dak's probably gonna fall into that in between Kirk Cousins and Garoppolo salary, which you make him about fifth fifth highest paid quarterback, which is about thirty And Nate's point is, would you pay him in thirty million dollars and then not give him the tool was to earn that money So is

this like not pay zay, Oh, you gotta pay. You gotta pay that you got you gotta run weapons now, so let's see that. The thing is Zeke is coming up, Mari's coming up. So you gotta draft guys that go out play their contracts. So when we draft this defense one defensive linements, just what all the offensive guys. That's how we help, That's how we got. That's where I see. You can kind of play with like Byron Jones's contract a little bit and see what they're doing there. Don't

play with the defensive backs contract. They have feelings. They're not gonna they're not going yeah, because they're not gonna be able to do Byron Jones's contract if you're doing Zeke sent a Maris and Daks and Dak just got he went to ce AA Sports and got an agent just for his contract, like just for this moment right now. Mark, you know, I like, I like when players get paid. Bro, have the ultimate faith I love upstairs. Everybody can get paid.

Don't you like my Heay? What isn't he the best? Ye, one of the best. He clean cut, he shaved, and he's got the best voice in the building. Man, do you sing or anything. I don't sing. I tried it on Saturday. It didn't sound. I think it's okay. Is there video of that that's not gone. We did the radio spots and he's like, oh man, this is your first time. I'm like, yeah, this is it. Were your pro I'm like, so I go home, call my mom like, hey,

listen to the radio the park. That's awesome. Well, Taylor, before we leave, who are we picking in the draft? If Brian brought us was sitting here, he had saved Hylor wrapped, and I'm with that pick because we have the same name. That's the safety, right, that's the safety from Washington. It's pocat as I said from three weeks three weeks ago. I want that Savage jersey and that is what I want. Darnell Savage to be a Dallas cowboy and Channon I'll buy. I'll buy you at Savage

Jersey too, Okay, so we can aware of them. I'll take that. Well, Kurt, Yeah, thanks for showing up. I appreciate Nate. Thanks for bringing it. Danny, anytime you want to come on, You're welcome to come on this show man, Danny, thank you for stretch, Douglas, thanks for doing what you do well. Some people know how to draft and some people don't. We will see weekend wend and guess what. We'll have the first show after the draft, so tune in. We may have special guests. Glad you got that position

man with the Cowboys. Keep Danny employed. Yes, one of those draft picks in the future. It comes right from our camps. I believe it. Here. You guys get them out there all righty, We'll be back Mounday after the draft, he say. What the boysllas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club
