You know, he's doing real well with his TV and

his radio and doing the games. So I kind of like, hey, man, well you know, let me hook you up with Troy so you know you may get some you know, talk to him about what you're trying to do and how you're trying to get it even though he's a young guy, thed I thought about it. I'm better him up with Rich first, and that Rich and Brad helped him. And then by time you get de Troy, you you know,

they called each other. They talked for about thirty seven seconds. They gave each other seven like words each that we could never repeat in any TV show, right, and then they didn't even say bye. They just hung up on each other. You know, I'll see you later. I mean every kind of cuss words derogatory. So you and Tony are like that telling my roommate for nine years. Oh lord, so tonight it's gonna be fun. Who unless you got

that button there? Who's got the button? We don't don't tell anybody, but I don't think we have a button on that show. I think it's director broadcast. Yeah, I mean this, we think it could be hated. We got through Charles Haley and we only had a think a one one s bomb and we got through. Well, we got we got a lot of mls. We got a lot of a lot of elf fat mls from Charles directed at me. Yeah. No, Well, I'm happy to be

here obviously, I was just student the other show. And I guess you guys are Hopefully Jesse, you'll be here in a little bit maybe, and uh, Kurt's Kurt's good. He just he had a little had a little uh hiccup, had a hiccup and and Hr told him just stay home so for the day. So he's he's good, though he wanted to be here world though. I was listening to this show earlier because you know, they do a

pretty decent show Second Hours. But anyway, I wass I was listen to Bucket Brooks, who they're keeping away from US channel, so you know I should won't blow off the charts. Anyway, I thought that Derek he got an eyeballs blocked him. And so to tell the story on Twitter, yeah, oh okay, oh no, no, no, no no Derek. Um, So somebody on Twitter response or enjoyed the show Tuesday's show and the last fifteen minutes, and I gave Chris Bean credit. We went for an hour and fifteen minutes. We went

for a long time and a little overtime. But we are having fun, just telling all kinds of stories, some calling and so um. But basically, the guy just said, hey, Dave and Nick, you guys did a great job. Tell Derek that we love those kind of shows. Tell Derek for me, because he's blocked. That happens a lot. That happens. If Derek has three thousand people, how many would be blocked the thousand? How do you block? See? And he made a good point. You made a good point. Who Derek? Why?

Because he said, I got more to lose than them. I can't be going in the weeds with you like that. You're gonna say something's gonna piss me up. I'm gonna say something back, Derek. You have some self control when you manage us, and you you don't slap us in public. You slap us when you close the door, just don't say it out in public. We matter to him because we were gonna be here every day. But those people, I mean, why I engage with those type of people? Well,

I mean, I don't know. If they don't, that's why he blocked. He's not tempted. Yeah, but that's why they will never be the People's show, Nate. That's how we are the People's show because we don't. Jesse'll block somebody, Yeah he will. I don't know. I don't think I've ever blocked anybody. I don't respond, So that's that's that's my big name doesn't even respond if he knows you didn't like you, you know you at least get respond if I'm gonna follow you like you know what, I

don't know shock I've seen a fan of. When you're focused on what you're doing, yeah, now you are. You are great to the people. But when you got something going on, like when you're watching film on something and something, Nate, Hey, I loved you from the whole way back in Floriday and then we went to college. Autographed, Yeah, Nate is great to the people until they ask him for an autograph.

Why and then he's like, nope, if you don't have my autograph, you go out on Amazon or any of these other places and you say, Nate knew an autograph, phote dollars and fifty cent that's all it's worth. I've seen this alm as low as fifty cent. So if you don't have my autograph, but not you in trouble bro you in trouble Let's you'll be better off taking a picture and showing that all you know. My autograph story with Nate said this, I don't think I know this.

We share an office, and I don't think i've ever I feel like I've said this to you Okay, in nineteen ninety, I was like thirteen years old, fourteen, nineteen ninety, was about to get back. I like Texas Stadium. This is back when Nate wasn't a good guy, right, oh, when I was a terrible guy. Okay, let's purpose this because this might go bad. Had ad made a Pro Bowl yet I don't believe in ninete I means still just you know, okay, okay, yeah, so um so they opened up this. It was a come get a season

ticket thing. This was before the Cowboys were really stunting, just Jerry really. They had a practice on the field and then you could go and fans could go and watch and then get on the field and get autographs and also for for people that wanted to get season ticket holder, it's a way to kind of do that. It basically meet the team and all that. And I got I had a Nate Newton card, a football card,

but I didn't have a sharpie. I had like a pin and he's got these big old gloves and I tried to get an autographed and you know, Nate, it wasn't working real well. And you let me know in front of all the people there that that this pen isn't working. Get a better pen than this guy. This guy's pen is not gonna work. And then somebody was like, hey, here, you can borrow my sharp. He's like, no, no, if you don't have the right pin, you don't get it. And so I still have this football card with a

bare like written Nate Newton autograph. But yeah, it's not filled in very well at all. You know what, like the pen you need to shake it. It was like that, bring it up here and giving four or fifty and make him side of both sided for free. Yeah, I was telling you. I'm telling you I fight with that old Nate Newton all the time. Even when I'm coming to work. I stop at this place is gas station, same one every day. I've been wearing the Cowboys stuff every I don't care how bad we get willed, I've

been wearing it. I've been speaking to people overjoyed. For the last six years. I've got people like I want to talk to me now, and I'd be like, hold on now, same place. For the last seventeen years, y'all have never spoke to me. He never cared about the Cowboys. Now you mean to tell me they for one, they like you Shanna once four or five games, and now they want to stop me and say, I want you to talk to Mike. Hold On, man, I've pass you like thirty five thousand times, and your kid has never

been an issue. You think it's because they're winning, everybody, that's because they don't. People are real funny about the Cowboys. They either even if they love them and have season tickets, they hate them if they're not winning. Hey, by the way, why don't you have Cowboys gear on today? Because you're supposed to bring down the shirt. Yeah, we're supposed to be doing the survival shirt today. That's forgot. Danny's surviving. Yeah, totally forgot. Sorry if he gets voted out. Yeah, but

I'm telling right here, man, I'm gonna telling here. Life is good, man, And uh, let me ask you this question. Okay, is it football relateds sir? Oh, we're gonna talk football. I'm so, I'm so feeling good about these Cowboys because they're getting healthy. Okay, let me ask Let me ask my question. Okay, because you want to win. We had a whole show dedicated to this on Monday, right Nate. Nate's not worried. The defense is coming back that he is not worried at all. He doesn't need to see

this team do anything. He is good to go. At one point, let's go my whole point, and we opened up the callers and this became the whole show man, and he can do it today. If you want, we might, we might might. I got my defense. He won by a score of like six to four. And I think all the guys that called in just wanted to side with the Super Bowl champion or pro bowler and they

were kissing Nates. But but anyway, might think we know that that that we've seen a few uh old shows before that he and I will go at it if we need Yeah, you know, I know you'll, you'll be honest with me. My whole point was, I'm not I'm not worried. I'm a little concerned, and I need to see them just go beat the hell out of somebody like they did the first six games of the year. They haven't struggled in every game winner loss except Atlanta. I just want to see the go beat somebody down

like they're capable of doing. Renew my faith in this team. It's December. I've seen this team struggle in November and December for far too long. I just need my confidence restored. I think they're still a good football team. I want them to show me they're a great football team and they're not gonna be one and done in the playoffs. That was my whole point. Nate said, he's good. He doesn't need to see that. He's he's good with whether they're at Where do you stand on this argumentum, I

not even argument, it's a question. I guess you know. I hear two words need and want. I heard you say that that he doesn't need that, and that's what you want? Right? Seriously, here we are around Christmas time that a lot of things happen. What do you need, son? Or do you want? And I don't know if I need to see it either. Who are they gonna be? I mean, if they beat the Giants on the road by twenty one points, does that give you confidence that they're gonna go beat the Packers? Not? Not to me.

I mean that I would like for them to do that. It helps, it's easier, it's easier week and all that. Feeling good about them, But I still think that these division games are tough to win. So if they win, then I think that that'll be as battle tested. You know. I argued with with our group earlier today. I think the Washington game will be the toughest game remaining on the schedule in the regular season, even even more than Arizona, just because I think these games are so tough. So

it would be nice, but I don't need that. If they're winning games, if they go three and two out of these next five games to get them into eleven and six, I mean, I'd be fine with that. Feel you would feel confident going into the playoffs. Yeah, I mean, nothing's gonna chat. Maybe that's the best way to say. Nothing's really gonna change my feeling either way. They're gonna have to go beat Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady,

They're gonna have to beat them Matthew Stafford. So whatever you do in these games, they don't care, you know what I mean. Let's say you go five and oh and you gotta go play Tampa Bay because you lost him in week one. Tom and Cowboys ever. You know they've won seven in a row. Now, whatever, don't care. Can they beat me? I'm the goat, So you know what I mean, I don't I kind of side with him. I mean, like if you get in God, because because I don't need this shit, I want to see it too.

I want to see as long as our defense is getting better each week, that's all I care about. As long as our offensive line can play solid enough so Dak and these guys can get a rhythm, that's all I care about. And what better team than a team that's playing well defensively then then the show that you can do this. Our team that's got a decent run game like Washington. Yeah, their quarterback is not over the top, but he's a decent guy and he's playing well enough

to keep them in games. You need to see this. You need to see some consistency before you're gonna see some explosiveness. I guess it's just I need to be reminded what team they can be, because I don't think right now they're the team they were at the beginning of the year. Dak looks a little off, the receivers look a little off. Zeke's not healthy. Defense. I'm good with the defense. You know, Nate doesn't think the tight ends are blocking really well right now. Like the offensive line,

a lot of moving parts there. Like I just I want to see them dominate somebody to make me feel better. You just need to win, You're right, you just need to grind out wins. And I'm okay winning by one point from now until the super Bowl. But it would make me feel better as a Cowboy fan because I've been here for eighteen years and I see it over and over and over again. You have these flashes of greatness and then you peter out at the end of

the sea. Well, maybe they don't need to feel better, you know, maybe the Cowboys, I mean, maybe maybe you need to go into this game. You know, the coaches love that. Coaches love to win a game by one point and play like crap so they can they get the win, and they're still on them all week. Yeah, you know, and all you do is watch the Saintskins offense is not gonna sit around walking around like Connor McGregor after that game. Right, they won, They did enough

because their defense carried him. So this is the time of year and you're also you're talking to a guy that played in the NFC East in the nineties. Well, the only thing that we're pretty was, you know, the quarterback. I mean, I've said it before, I mean, but like those games were tough, grueling. It didn't matter. I mean, Washington played Dallas when they hadn't won a game and they couldn't win. I mean, so it was It's always tough one. You know what's amazing. What's the name of

the team in Washington? Washington football team? Thank you the thing because I'm starting to write it down. The thing that bought The thing that's so funny is every year we laughed, oh man, Dallas gonna walk through the East. They may have a little competition with Washington, but guess what, y'all, the same thing we talked about all off season's coming.

You know, I heard you when you show this morning with with the with the fan telling these guys, you know you don't see them running out on eight or nine games, was you? Yeah? Yeah? But the Baals Washington still control their destntrols. Regardless of whether we think they can run off six or seven games. If they were to win against us, that's gonna be one step closer to yeah, you know, because that gives us a loss and then will win. So now next

week becomes an issue. So, I mean, if if they they went out. They don't have to worry about the Cowboys doing anything else. They will be yea, um, you know they're six and six. That will be eleven and six, and we know that's gonna be very difficult. But we we we also had I mean, I'm not worried about the Giants, but I am worried about Washington because but sweat you guys. He just went back on COVID. And the other two guys are Daniel Wise and another young man, Williams.

They just guys. Yeah, they just guys that they're they're NFL players, but they're two guys in the middle. Y'all worried about Philly at all? Or they done? Not until we get there. These if we were to sting Washington may not matter. Yeah, if that may not matter, if we steing Washington. Yeah, we have to win this game. And like I said, I don't go into the must win because you know every game is tough. You don't get but seventeen of them. Yeah, but I'm telling you

you cannot let Washington win this game. You cannot go up there and not come back on the plane, which you will be on the plane and cannot be able to drink it. See it's two ways. You can drink your beer coming back on the plane. You can drink and the enjoy or you can break drink it to her go to sleep. So you don't want to drink sleep. But the years and years of just getting beat down and you and at the end of the game, man, where it's three points or less, so it's a score, one score to win the game or to tie the game, and you just knowing you you trying to play at a state where you're like, I'm not gonna make the mistake. But like from a player's perspective, you've been through it in eighty eighty nine and ninety seven when it was at the end of the year, year out of the playoffs. Not only concerned about how Dan Quinn's gonna get all those guys in there and keep the continuity together? All right? Nate? Nick,

Yes, sir, I need him to play a little bit more linebacker. Are you

concerned now? I'm not concerned basically because of what he just said. If Mike is gonna be playing linebacker, playing right in the middle, I'm not concerned about the linebackers. WHOA Okay, all right. How Big of A talked about this a little bit on the show yesterday. How Big of I don't think the injury to Jabril Cox has talked about enough in the impact that like they let

Jalen go. That was an extra body in there and they you know, won not only what it's affecting the team now, but you're setting him back a year on his development and he was starting to really get it on the field, right Yeah, um, cowle was you tied up the linebacker. It's gonna be It's not gonna be that quick. Sorry, they have a linebacker nam Kevin Burnett. Back in two thousand and five and all that, Kevin Burnett missed three games I think in about four years,

and he was injury prone. Wasn't because he was missing games during the season. He was missing game he was missing he was getting injuries at the end of the year, surgeries in the offseason when it was time to make decisions March, February, you know, you know, March and April draft and free agency. Kevin Burnett is out And and I love kevinet and you watch him on social media's coaching.

He's doing a great, great job. But I'm just saying sometimes when you're hurt during decision making time, you'ren't missing games, but it's still tough. Where do they do at linebacker? You got Jabril Cox. That's hurt. You don't know him a lot about him. Do they draft this guy in the second round or third round? Do we have Cox? We don't know much about him. So sometimes injuries can hurt when you're when you're also injured at decision making time.

That's where I think this team it misses him being out. If that makes sense, No great point, It made sense. It made sense. But I tell like it's right here. I like the kid. I think that's just a and I hate using this word around this organization. Free accident comes like we had a most free accident and any team in the league. But this kid should be okay and he will be back next year. Don't help us

this year, but he'll be back next year. And like you say, but they don't know how what decision they can make on LVEE right either, Neil because of this, Yeah, yeah, this situation. But do like about Jabrille Cox is he was okay in training camp and the pads aren't on, you're not hitting, you're not doing thing. It's hard to for the linebacker to stand out. Those lights came on in the preseason. He played special teams, he led the

team in special teams, tackles, he's around the ball. He played, he got in once they cut Jalen, he got in. He hit Daniel Jones and saw that speed. So I think he'll he'll be fine. He's an exciting player to watch. You just wish he would have been there because they could have used him here. We talked about that with Will mcclayman. Remember, and I say, I said, Will, what I said? What do you do? I said, I understand

that with no pads on, what's gonna happen? But I said, but y'all gonna play all of these young guys in training camp. What do you do when these they started showing up? How long before you make decisions on veteran players? He just kind of smiled. I said, okay, and we saw yeah, yeah, all right, Nick cornerback concerned. Yeah, no, I just making sure that that's that's what the question concerned. I didn't know if you wanted me to just say the little cornerback to the two spots on the outside.

Non um, not really not really, because of your first two questions, I think it's about to be gata over there. I think that's what they're gonna do. They're gonna get after him so good. I think the corners are going to probably be better. I think they're gonna be better. Yeah, I agree, I agree because that is that was my main concerned. Could these young guys and could after they

hold up until the troops get back. Now the troops are coming back and uh, because the way I see the pass or a situation once it's after this Washington game is you're gonna have Gallimore. You're gonna have uh, the two guys Gregory and Uh and d Law and then and then whoever else rush oc Are maybe maybe Neville. Yeah, so I don't. I don't unless we have something bad happen. I don't want to see Michael just showing his hand into the playoffs. Right then you can put them in

either one on one't care. It's time the ball. Put the best players on the field, all right. What about safety, Nate, Our safeties are okay as long as they have an assignment and coming forward. If our safeties have to react, I don't like them. If they have to react, and if they have to hold the ground and read something and react, I don't like them. I like how coach to be sending them say hey, Okay, you got this, titany and get up on hijaming, giving them something to do.

If we have busy safeties, I like them. If they are standing still safeties and react and read, I don't like them, that's good point. I like that. I mean I didn't never really thought of it that way. Yeah. And also they haven't really played a lot of the great great tight ends yet. I mean that they faced Waller,

I believe, and he even played pretty well pets. But I mean when you face a team with good tight ends and good receivers on the outside, and that's when that happens and the end I think, you know, I'm not as one hundred percent confident about the safeties when they have to go and and cover when the corners can't help them. They have to cover their guys. And he got these really good tight ends that could be that could be scary special teams. Nick, No, I'm not concerned.

I think it's the best unit that I think it's John Fossil has done an outstanding job. I really do. And I've said this before. I mean, you know, people just look at this stat The Cowboys I think ranked second in the in the league, maybe maybe third, in the NFL in fewest punt return yards against them, and teams aren't really returning punts. The reason why is because of the fake punts John Fossil did last year and two years and three or four years ago. Teams are

scared to death of what he's gonna do. They back their guys off and they you're not gonna fake on us. Okay, cool, We're just gonna punt it fifty yards down the field. You're gonna get four yard return. And we just won the field position battle all because of reputation of fake punts and all that. There's a method to the madness people don't always see. And I think he's done a great, great job. And I'll tell you what what we noticed

on to that point. He has the punter out throwing past his pre games to let the other team know, Hey, this guy's warming up. Maybe the fake punts coming so and get my arm going. Yeah, that sets that up, and it could and I mean that, and um Keith o Quinn, the former special team's coach, I mean he said every time we played the Rams played him, every single time we backed our guys off, we watched make sure Hecker didn't throw the ball and all that. Well,

that's cool. He did it one percent of the time. The other nine nine percent of the the times, your guys C. J. Goodwin's just flying right by you and you just did a fair catch and you have no net average. That's why Brian Anger's second in the league in net average. He's first in the league in punt average. I mean, he's having a great, great year, and it's all because of the game that Fossil plays. I think he's done

a great job. Honestly, BUGI Nate, I'm not. I'm everything Nick is saying because I at first I'm like, wow, But it's a method to the madness because we used to do that when I played. Yeah, I think we used to do that when we when I played. It forgot But the kicker I'm not with. I'm not with the kicker now. I'm not. I'm wing a graded leg unless he's this five game span is for him too, unless he is more consistent, no more more miss extra points,

uh and make up a field goals. I'm not if it's fifty yards, I ain't holding no killer, Yeah, no, I don't do that. If it's fifty yards, that's the kick man. I don't care in today's NFL, but when you forty five, thirty five needs you to make those because these games are gonna be tight. Now you're right about that, And no one, I don't think anyone's just like super you know, excited about any kicker really in the league. But I'll say this is about zerline um.

Has he missed one that, Like, he's had some clutch kicks he has to make, he hasn't missed one of those. You could maybe stay in New England because it was a fifty three yarder to give him the lead with three minutes to go, and then they ended up getting them. I think Dig's gotta pick on the next play. So but but for the most part, like he hasn't lost you like, have to make this kick Tampa Bay first game of the year, after he was struggling, he still

made the kick to give him the lead. He's made the kicking against the Chargers, he made the kick to force overtime against the Raiders. He made the kick to force overtime in New England after he'd missed So when he really really has to have it, he makes the kick. Knock on big you know, bigod But voted all right, Wow, this is an interesting one wide receiver. Nade, Are you concerned?

Oh no, sir, No, let me tell you something. Man, if this is what Kellum can be, next level and finding ways to get these three studs, they were ball if he wanted to be next level. See, because I don't believe. I liked like coach was saying from the key is running when they know you're gonna run. Okay, that we can do that because Andy Reid has shown you and to Reid and all the other West Coast Great West Coast coaches that have shown you you don't have to run the ball and battle up everybody. And

that's my big issue right now. You don't have to kill Tony Poller. Man get him. It's so many ways you can get him the ball. And you got three cold blooded receivers. Come on, man, line this kid up and daret him and daret him. Let Dak and let Dak because that's when Dak is the best, when he got great receivers. So well, you know the receiver by committed thing ain't working never for him. About you, Nick,

not concerned. They're they're back, they're healthy. Yeah, I think Amari Cooper, is you know he's gonna be He's he's the guy. He mean, he's the main player there. I mean I think and and and Belichick told you that, you know when they played in New England and how they covered him, and well it didn't help because CD went off on you know when Gallup's gonna make plays too. I mean if it's on the sideline or in the corner. I mean, give me Gallup. There's nobody that's that. I mean,

he could be in ballet. You forget how good that guy. You forget how good he is. If he ever signed catching the three and four and five, y'all look catches, he will be unstoppable. Yeah, I mean I think you got you got the best. You know, he got one guy that says just a phenomenal route runner and very very crafty in his way, and Mark fast and fast I mean yeah, and then you got you have a dynamic type guy that's that's pretty elusive after the catch and he can make some plays in the open field.

And CD and then you got to you got probably the best contested catcher and Michael Gallup. You got those three guys. I mean that all have played their strengths. It's great all right, what about the gall throwing to him? Dad concerned it all a little bit. I don't think he's played his best football, um, And you know I've

said it a hundred times, and he needs help. And he's not a guy that's just gonna put the whole team on his back when they when the guys are covid and injured and all this stuff, the lines, and he just carries them through. I think there's two or three four quarterbacks in the last I'm gonna say, in the last twenty years, but three they don't. I mean, there's not many that do it. And so this isn't anything negative towards Dak to say he needs his guys, he needs any When he gets them back, I think

he'll be fine. But he struggled a little bit. Man. This dude, this dude, watch football. Man. You right on, He right on the man. And I've been I've been trying to sell folks that Dak is not a receiver by committee. He needs his great players like all like eighty five percent of the quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and when he had his best, the kid in Seattle, after that, nobody else, everybody else need their weapons everybody else? All right, true, real quick? The last two the most

interesting two running back? You concern Yes, sir, don't play this game with Zeke. Okay, if he's your third nine back, put him in. We know we've in the pass. Put him in the block. Yea, be the blocker. But Tony is sufficient enough if coach kill him, can just put him in the right positions. Put him in the right when you got full bad receivers and then eighty six. He ain't gonna block nobody, but he gonna catch everything. So so gave him to get You can't stop that.

Dare them to stop that? Yeah, I'm concerned, Um, but but I do halfway concerned because I do think that if what's great about this is I don't think they're playing politics or anything like that. I mean, I think that they put Zeke in because he does what he does well and blocks well. He can get some short yards, he can kind of carry the pile a little bit. Hasn't been doing that a lot, but um, and then Tony kind of does his inside outside thing. I think

that they're working great together. If there's no animosity, it's working out. That's why I'm not too concerned. Let's see what these ten days look like for Zeke Sney all right, and the last one. We're over time, so make it quick. Oh line, are you concerned? Nick? Not really? Um, I mean no, take that back, Yes, I'm concerned. Yes, I am concerned. I don't they haven't blocked anywhere. The left

guard is not not working out. They can't figure that out. Still, don't think that they're great at center and they'll figure it out. The right tackle him A little bit concerned, but I mean it is what it is. I mean every this is the team. They're not gonna fix it. I mean they got everybody healthy, so this is as good as it's gonna be. I think what about mine? Coach back is coach Fieldman back he is? I'm good, Okay, I'm good. He'll figure it out.
