He's hanging with the boys. Presented by Wing Stuff where Flavor gets its wings. Now your hosts, Nate Newton, Kurt Daniels, Jesse Holley, and Shannon Gross Wednesday, start what hump Day? Get your mind out of the gutter, Kurt, Kurt Man, it's your strength coming back for I've been noticing your about and hanging around you guys too. Hey, cut your Wayne got him feeling frisky. Yeah, he jealous? Jealous, jealousy. Don't your Wayne got nine? You got four kids and
two of them maybe going to college. He got four kids. He's talk about one and me nine kids have for my one and half. I'm like, cut your way. Your jeans is bad. Tommy John's fly Kurt on the floor. Oh no, he got that. The thing opened up for them, Tommy Johns. Let you go quick draw fly his voice activated. Hey, Jesse came in the day and I told Shannon he used a big word. I kind of know what it means.
But tell him tell him again now. Shannon said, he's still trying to figure me out, right, And I said, I'm an enigma, right, you give yourself a migraine trying to figure me out? Yes, Yes, don't do that. You have the cowboy hat on the day. I like it. Yeah, look are you so? Are you a team specific fan? Are you just a football fan in general? The team that pays me fan. When I was a Patriot, I was, I was a Bengal, I was all Bengal. Hey, I couldn't.
I can't say that. I'm sorry, I'm on board with that. I couldn't. I couldn't. I'm a cowboy fan. Now, yeah, I am a cowboy fan. But even if they weren't paying you, yeah, he was still on the air. Look as I still live in Dallas, because we all know the reach of our boss. Yes, it's reach. You know why? You know why? Tell us why kurt Us he didn't listen to the show to the show man that star curse turned around and look at you gotta look at the curt stars didn't jump on you man that start.
Hey man, this too got something special for us? Man, I do it's Saints weak right right right right? When it's Saints weak, you got gumba, we get well, you know what we should have got brought us on that. It's been evading me, man, he's been running literally from me as he Yeah, because I wanted to come on the show. I won't he come on the show. I don't know. I told him. I think I gave it a way, and I said, hey, man, if you come on the show, that we can get all of your
people that follow you. I don't think I want to take away much. You miss brought us on the show. He brought some thunder when he was Yeah, man brought us on here. What's a week? Ten minutes? That's all we need? All right, Saints Weet Nate, you were a part of what I'm about to play. Okay, okay, I'm gonna play a little snippet, a little one minute snippet. Yes, sir, nice cold, go down memory lane, Thank you, thank you,
nice face. Here we go, Ready, here we go. Tyner is inside of the party, tackled in the sixty yard Larry Wayne Martin. We think Dary and Connor with the Beck and Alan seems the touchdown I can't get over there. We runs down a very speedy linebackers a little bit of an angle. But why can't huge man? You were there, Nate, Yeah, I was there and that was that was a Sunday night. They beat beat us to death. Man, come on you played the wrong click. No, I'm just played click when
I was there? Oh you were there? Old night was that? I don't have that clip. We'll play that tomorrow. Even it back out because Nate just said, oh that score, Nate, you got, you got, you got stomped. Why are you looking at me? Crazy? That was an awesome played by Larry. And then because it isn't a conspiracy now it isn't. You see what I'm saying, right, Kurt? What I know? That's that's I'm not talking about the outcome. I'm talking about.
I'm trying to go down memory lane. Remember, remember had totally derailed this mini segment that I had And now I feel like an ass because I was not playing that. But I'm just understand you that was one of the that's one of those thoughts processes you should have filtered through. He's like, hey, wow, might you know how we were that one? Right? Like? You know how that one ended? We don't have to minute successful days, I say, night.
But anyway, it's a good I remember because I always felt that if Larry wouldn't have got him on the sixteen, I probably would have got him. Matthew score. If you've never seen that clip. Don't watch it on YouTube. I know what you're trying to do, Sander, but I'm telling you, like, it's certain games you just don't want to play. Play something to be like, oh man, we got crushed. You
brought up the two thousand and nine games. I remember that because the Saints were, what, yeah, winning the Super Bowl that year, Yes he did, yeah, but and y'all went down there, DeMarcus had the next thing that they weren't really sure what was going on. Talk us through that. The week before were at a home game. I forgot
we were playing at home. DeMarcus Ware went out, I mean stretcher off the field with the neck injury, and he fall back, and we were just rolling, and we just kept saying all that week that, listen, we know what it's going to be down there. It's going to be loud, it's going to be just everything's gonna be crazy. But if we come out there and play, they if we don't give him anything to cheer about, we won't
have to worry about the noise. Well, early on, as far as you and I or Nick Nole standing from each other could not hear anybody. It was that loud and that place was rocking. Miles Austin went off that game. Tony had a great game, and DeMarcus Ware fought back through that week. It was it was like a miraculous thing that happened. Fought back through that week and he had the he had the game ending sack to end that game. It was what Sunday night or Monday night
wasn't it was a night game. I forget it was Sunday or Monday. It was prime time because nobody gave y'all a chance. Oh there, Oh, the Saints are gonna roll the cow Boys and it's gonna be I mean that they had a darn good team. That team won again, went on the win the Super Bowl that year. But uh, it was a fun Yeah, I remember because I wasn't traveling yet. So I was at Christie's watching the game, and I what what what You didn't walk in the doll with a silver spoon in your mouth? What are
you talking about? You said you weren't traveling. Yeah, I went traveling yet. Hey, who do I need to talk to about this? That that that's in the past. They just like this, you know, man, don't do my boy like that? Starting chest at Christie's though, yo. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's my guy. Yeah, chesting at Ashton Yeah and we uh yeah, man. I was in there one when I saw the Marcus Ware walk out of their games over if this dude's playing, they're winning. Yeah, and it was inspiring, inspiring.
Now he's big man. Now you don't even talk to stop y'all, just stop. It's not paid, my dudes. I sold hats and T shirts for that when I first got to Dallas, you know what, And we got a mark out a segment for the guy that serious. This guy came in. He I thought he was bringing in it just you know, he would go find and go through this, you know, setting the T shirts he brought him one of the big wigs man, oh Bill. He gave him with good love, Ruth Bill games with good luck.
Because I ain't. No, Shannon actually worked, you know, for real. I used to when we saw him. When we see him now he's given out each spartan. Hey we need to try this given out suggestion. I ain't. He had actually had to hustle, you know what I'm saying. He had to clean clean toilets, my floor, whatever, man, whatever it takes, I'll do that now, as long as they let me keep hanging around eating this free lunch, that's all and answers emails. What my days have come to.
Ain't nobody worried about me? What they're worried about is the Saints and the Cowboys. We're gonna talk about Cowboys offense. We got a clip. This is Troy Aikman, I believe Monday Yes on the Dan Patrick Show about America's teams quarterback Dak Prescott. Most people who are listening to this have never met Dak Prescott. They've only heard him interviewed, seen him play. And I will tell you he's as fine a person as there is in our game right now.
And he's unbelievable in terms of his character, as personality, as leadership abilities, all the intangibles. This guy's got it in spades. And then he has a work ethic that's second to none, and that's been apparent this year in the in the work he put in this offseason. So the question was, Okay, yeah, he has all these qualities, but you know, we need to see more within the
passing game. And he's done that. I mean, I think he's been extremely impressive, not just because the numbers show that, but when I watch him, this is a different guy. And yeah, maybe it started to come on at the towards the second half of last season when they got Amari Cooper, but his footwork and him his timing of getting the ball out, this is a different guy than we saw at any point last year. He's extremely confident. No,
I wouldn't. I think when you worry about giving that kind of money to somebody, you worry about what money made through to them. And I don't think the money's gonna have any impact on his desire to be great and his continuing to put the time in. So I'm a little surprised, quite honestly down that they haven't paid them already. Just think about your former teammates comments Nate. You know what, And I was trying to tell Doug in the earlier you know, I respect fans, I do, man.
I would ask a person before I get into a deep discussion, if you are a fan and you just believe this as a fan, then I know you not don't have that knowledge that we in here sitting there. But if you tell me you are a football guy and you haven't seen this, what is transpirted? This kid in life and what has happened as him, not as only as a human, but more importantly as a football player. And you want to tell me what he don't deserve and do deserve, then I got to look at you
as a stupid individual. You know I'm being honest, See, because a year ago I told Duck sitting right in there that, yeah, I told him to I'm not defending that no more. I went back and watched film of him in college. I've watched him in the pros, and every time he's had talented around him, like most of the winning quarterbacks in this league, how he has not failed.
And for my man Troy to say that right now, you can still as a fan not like him, and I will respect you, but do not tell me as a football individual that this kid ain't grown by leaps and bounds. No, I think he's gone farther this year than even we expected. I mean, whatever ceiling we thought he had, he's gone past that to me so far, and he's only gonna get better. I mean, everybody knows as the longer quarterbacks in the league, the game slows down.
I mean, I think there's even brighter days ahead of them. He's gonna be Yeah, obviously him a bunch with his mechanics. This kid kill him, Moore, I mean, what did Tom Brady have? He found his golden child and he came back to his golden child, came back to him, you know for a little bit. Big Ben didn't even know what he had, and they ran that. The offensive coordinated out of there. He was a head coach even was here a little bit. I can't think of that. That
was his golden child. He didn't even know. It ran him up out of there. Don't run you go the Saints, Drew Brees his coach, golden child. Know who your golden child is. Don't run your golden child away. So Kellen Moore, you locked, Bro, ain't a head coaching. Joeld you for least two years, Kidney. If you thought you was moving up you is it? Don't cut you out? Sorry, Kidning you is that golden child? You take that? So he you know, I want him to know for two years, Bro,
we don't let you go nowhere. And I'm probably if there's anyone at this table who wasn't a believer of Dak, it was probably me the most. If you listen, if you follow me on Twitter if you listen to me during the pre and postgame show. I've always had doubts about him, and there were things that I needed to see from a football perspective, right, like his mechanic technique or yes, that was my biggest thing. It's it's being around a quarterback like Tom Brady, being around a quarterback
like Carson Palmer, Tony Romo. There were certain things that I needed to see to make me believe he was as good as advertised. Now, to play quarterback in this league, you have to be skilled some of them the good ones, right, And initially I didn't see that. I saw that he had a good supporting cast. And my biggest thing was if everything wasn't right, could he win right, if the
offensive line wasn't perfect, if the running backs? That was my biggest kind of hold up was what can Because I think quarterbacks You said a coach is good for at least three games, Yes, that was a lot. I think a quarterback should be good to win at least three football games on their shoulders alone. Preach I do. When you go back and you look at the good quarterbacks, they can go win you a football game two or three games by themselves. They get into a groove and
I mean they're just they're flowing. They make the right throws, the right read, the right changes, the right audibles, and they just go and get you a victory. And I questioned that about him until now, Yeah, I think we all. He's different. His his his his attitude is different. I know what confident dude. When I see a confident dude, the bounce, the shoulder position, he's different. And that now that I'm seeing that, the way he's throwing the football,
it's not a winging a prayer anymore. It's here's where I'm going. This is what I'm gonna do with the football, and I dare you to stop me. And like I said, his comments after the game just kind of put the icing on the cake for me. When you can say, oh, I was heat checking myself, Huh, that's a different level of confidence. Like that's what Steph Curry says. Yet, that's what Kevin Durant said, That's what Lebron James says, That's what the that's what the great say. Oh I was
heat checking myself. Oh no, I got greedy because he wasn't making those throws before to even get greedy. He was like, I'm getting greedy. I'm feeling so good that I'm gonna roll out to my right and try to fit one in forty yards down the field. That was never his moo leading up to this point. Now you can say Tomehouse, Kellen Moore, John Kittner, I'm Elina John Kittner. We all why that's my guy. But there's something different about four. He is different this year. This offense is different.
And that's why I was, you know, that's why I was. I am on the I am on the train this year because I see a difference in the quarterbacks. Do you think he can You think he can win three games on his own now? Yes? See, I think I think the confidence that he's playing with now he can go win you football games when things aren't going right. And more importantly, for those things that he's saying that okay a lot of times when you get in rhythm, that could have been in rhythm a lot of games before.
But he was still there. Yeah, I'm still through to the run. No, his confidence now lands like that thing you that audio you play, Hey man, why didn't you know the story you told about John Kitten? Yeah, about
when he was with Mike marks Tell that story again. No, you know when when John Kitten was Mike marks He said, he called to play and they ran the play and John took a checkdown for eight yards and I'm confident I walked over with Mike mark and Mike Markson said, looking down at the sheet, he said, why don't you throw the dig? And he's like, wait, I got an eight yard game right there the checkdown. He goes, but why didn't you throw the dick? We called dick? Why
didn't you throw the dig? He was like, well, because the checkdown was right there. He said, we called this play to throw the dig. If we called this play and we got the look that we wanted, throw the dick, I didn't. I didn't call this play for you to throw the check down. I called this play for you to throw the dig. Throw the dig. And he's saying for Kit was saying, for ten years, I was taught caution, and he say, hey, take the profit. Profit is good.
Profit is good. He's saying, I don't call plays for you to take the check down. If we get the look we want, throw the damn route that we want to throw. And you see that with Dac Now, are you seeing that with more now too? Yes, I think I think there is a there is a combination of these young minds sitting in a room and saying, this is the look that we want. This is the route. Like the Devin Smith touchdown. Right, if you watch that play, Dak had the over route. Watch the play, the over
route that the safety bit up on. It was there. It's profit. It was the fourteen yard profit. But I bet you in the meeting they were saying, listen, if this safety jumps this deep over, you bang him over the head, you don't let you don't pack because you don't get that opportunity again. And sure enough, Da, and it's everything about it. He didn't. It wasn't like he was backing and patting the ball. He stepped right into it. The safety bit he said, fifty four yard touchdown to
Devin Smith. And you can tell that is the language that he's hearing now and you're seeing him put that work out there on the field. And I'm telling you and I have I have a lot of conversations with Doug about it because I'm trying to show on Doug in the bag. So I'm telling him I say, all I need to see from Dak now is because it's gonna come some games where Jess with Jess is talking about where they do shit down the run they did what then sh shut it down? I said, no, no, no, run,
And when they do, I'm with you. It's confidence. Now. Yeah, that I seen him like, Okay, it's gonna be a game or two or three, and it maybe even in the playoffs to get two the championship game where they're gonna like, you ain't running that rock and we ain't falling from the play action pad. His arm is going to be he going to truly drop back and find it. But that's what the Greeks to, Yeah, tell me if
I'm crazy about this. Maybe maybe I got to even say this statement because it's different watching the game on the sideline and it is on TV because a totally different perspective and you don't get to see everything. But it felt like to me in that game, and it's probably I don't know if it's because they were playing the Dolphins and you knew they weren't a good team, but it seemed like to me in the first half, Dak was like, watch this, I'm just gonna let it fly.
I'm gonna try to I'm gonna try to make some passes. I'm gonna take big chunks. He did because I know in the second half, if this doesn't work out, I'm still good enough where we can go win this game. Right. Never would have seen him do that before. That's what you said. I wonder part of that was the opponent. You know they were trying, they were trying to put them away early, and yeah it was. But it's what
both of you are saying. But more importantly, it's not that he thinks he can come back and win the games. It's like he said, he's playing with noe. They took the bridle off Hill wild stallion. But he has a direction right now and what he is being told and Coach Garri can tell me in wrong, and everybody can tell me I wrong. Hey man, you cannot throw an interception. You cannot do that because they got to think about the defense. He had the weight of the team on
his shoulders for real. Now he still has that weight on it, but from a different perspective. And I'm sure Coach Garrett is still coaching. And you heard him say that many times. The ball, the ball, the ball, right, the first priority is protecting the ball. And that's that's that's coach Garrett, that's coached Belichick, that's coach Tomlin, that's Pete Carroll, that's Sean Payton. The first thing as a quarterback you learned is, hey, take care of the football, right,
Don't don't be slopping in the pocket. Keep two hands on it when you move in the pocket, you know, protect it, don't just throw the ball away. But you understand as a quarterback, I have to take my opportunities. I go back to the Dead's no Catch, no catch game. Remember that game, right, I know it's still a sore spot, but I think the thing that and I'm only comparing confidence.
I'm comparing confidence and I'm comparing knowledge. We know the Dead's no Catch whatever, but look at the situation and scenario. You're playing away at Green Bay with a quarterback that has killed you and Aaron Rodgers. It was fourth four down. Yeah. The key to that play was Tony had waited all game long to get one on one coverage. They didn't give it. They all game long. Safety shaded, safety shaded.
You're not You're not getting this desk. Brian Deepall and on fourth and one, there was enough confidence in hisself and in the playmaker that was out there, that playmaker, but the playmaker that I'm going to check check, call the fade route and throw it, perfect spot, perfect catch, whatever. But I'm saying that level of confidence. You're seeing that level of confidence now with Dad. You see him come
to the line of scrimmage. He's id and the mic, he's looking around, he's signaling the guys, he's working guys out, and now he's putting the guys in the best positions to succeed. And that's what you want for your quarterback, right. I get the call in from my superior right from my officeive coding in my head, coach, whoever's calling the place. But then it's on me. It's it's market responsibility as a quarterback to put us in the proper place. Oh he got the call. Okay, cool, let's call a play.
Oh on a good look for us. Check check check check check. Now I'm changing it. You see him up there. Now, that wasn't who he was before before. It is whatever they called in is what we're gonna run, whether it's right or wrong. Now you see a different level of confidence. Where he's coming up there, he's checking things. I'm moving guys around, I'm letting guys who there I'm supposed to go. And there was a full blown conversation one of the
players where he hit with on a hot route. He's at the line of scrimmage and they're talking, Hey, if they come these two, come right here, you go hot. He's having a full blown conversation at the line of scrimmage. You know how much confident you gotta have to have a full blown conversation and pointing stuff out and then go right where you say you're gonna go. At a different level, I saw that when I played the Brett fare went to Green Bay and it was so toy
it like childlike. Yeah, because no matter what our defense did, no matter which way we slid our defens line, no matter what our corners and safeties in line. He was when you tell a team, man, if you come Kurt, I'm telling them throwing the rat. It was so ridiculous. But Brett Faw was like, hey, hey, hey he come and cut hot. Yea, he telling them, so now you as dives a back sing. He just guessing. But after about the third time, you don't even know what right
that is. That is unique. And that's where you know a couple of times last you when we heard guys and man it was calling out our plays. They won't call out of your plays. They just you just had a confident quarterback. I think it was a Chargers game. It was a Charging game when we came based on the man they called our plays. Nah, you just did them with Philip rivers. And it was a little too simple, right, And something happened in the game. I don't know if
y'all saw this came out. NFL had Dack miked up for this game pretty good right there, and uh, he's in the huddle. Tell me if this sounds like a confident, relaxed quarterback to you. He's looking at one end of the field and there's a ribbon board at the field and he sees this script flank spicy Nuggets. He saw Wendy's ad on the ribbon board. Spicy Nuggets are back. Oh, I'm gonna have to stop on the way home. How often is that kind of stuff happening in the huddle?
Took confident quarterbacks? Yeah, confident quarterbacks can do that. They're coming to huddle do more now back then we do have a ribbon streaming on it. But that's a sign of confidence. A sign of confidence. Man, when when guys are coming in and he's like, spicy nuggets are back, Um, definitely gonna stop, be get me a four or four and away home. Like that's that's That's just a different level where I'm so confident in what I'm doing. I'm
checking the banners around the stadium. I'm checking the chicken the front row with the you know what I'm saying, like, that's what you're playing without you're playing with the dude who has superior confidence. That was Nate. See Nate back in the day would be posed to be looking at you know, blocking and Lawrence Taylor. I had to stay forward, but I had some teammates. What you're saying. It used
to make me laugh. Man. We're in the middle of the third quarter, were up by seven, and I'm just tense. I'm you know, I got Drone Brown, you know I got Regie White. I'm like, if I licked up Troy died, did I see a couple of my teammates pointing some dudes third row, third role, And so I'm like, okay, let me let me turn around and look and see what's on this third role, and I'd be like, this ain't your wife. But anyway, let's take a break the
second for another show. We come back, let's talk a little bit more about the Cowboys offense, and then later in the show, if there's any show left, we'll see what we need to worry about on Saints defense. I tell you that. Hey, what if you get a chance? Man, Look before we get into this offensive stuff, look and see how much the Saints tickets are going. Man, So people that maybe want to travel on them doors, I can tell you right now they're averaging about four hundred dollars a ticket. Dot com Kurt. The lower level is about twenty three to twenty five hundred. Whoa, yeah what, Yeah,
that's insane. This is always the hottest tickete for the Saints. Yeah, and the cowboys from the town, especially because you're always bordering them. Man, we asked, we always cheapest to five and that's the three level. That's yeah, you're touching the top of the stadium there. Wow. And then they don't care. They can see they got the voodoo eyes. I tell you what, by the time the game comes, those odds
will be blurry. If you have never been to a game in New Orleans and you have a chance to go, especially to a night game, and see your team play the Saints, it's unreal. I mean they got jokers, that dress up, they got a whole section full of nuns, they got a preacher, they got whistlehead, they got it is it is a you never seen the Saints whistle head. But the thing is, here's a difference. A night game
in New Orleans is fun. Yeah, like their fans are gonna cheer, they're gonna yell, they're gonna but it's a party. A night game in Philadelphia is scary, yes, right, No, no, no, there's a difference, curse different and just the game. One is focused on their team, the other one is focused on fans in the game. Period in Oakland is scary. Yeah, Philly, Philly and Oakland. If you're an opposing team coming to those places like they don't want you like it's it
can get scary and the physical. Like like my mom was, no females in my family when I played for the Cowboys were allowed to come to When we went to Philly, the males will come, but no children, no females. Because I'm from up north. It gets ugly New Orleans. It's they have they have a good time. They're gonna dance, they're gonna drink, but they're friendly. Green Bay's the same way. Green Bay. They're super friendly. Yeah you know you beat him.
It's like, hey, thanks for coming. Nice beating and the beads. I never could get over the gold and black and s they beads beat from here. I mean it's like one lady aff like maam, I mean you know what she had to do for those beats? What no stop? All right, cowboys offense? What are we what are we are we gonna have? We're not gonna have Michael gallatback. Are we no nothing looking like it? No? No, he's supposed to be another one at least one or two.
Who do we have back? I think we have Hill being a limited basis today in Austin practice, I'm gonna tell you something. I'm gonna tell you something. I'm gonna tell you something. I'm gonna share something. Which go ahead and Nate, we're waiting wait there times to play hurry up, big Xavier competition. He had. He had a good game. That's he did have a good game. I did see Amari during practice walking through the build him in shorts. Yeah, that is that a veteran day off? I know, not
during the season, bro. No, No, No, he didn't played that at home. No injury reporter hadn't come out yet, has it. But Amari got to be the only dude I know that can well turtling neck in one hundred and eighty degree weapon about his outfit, Yeah, he'd only I mean I commented on that and people have called me a hater. I go the shirts untucked with a
vest on. That's that's wrong. One. Two, it's Texas. They don't get turtle that cold onto about November, Yeah, I don't care if I don't care if be playing inside either. I know he gets he's allowed to park underground with you know, I know he's allowed to do that. But he must hit a crank start or something. So when he getting his card, like no, he parks up top. He wants to enjoy the walk into the stadium, asked the fans. And make sure we're getting just see Mary
or whatever. And let's talk about this office, man, let's go when we want to talk about how's the offensive line gonna do against the Saint. Let me give you some numbers our office. Let me gee trying to take Kurt No, no, no, no sorry. Our rankings. We are now nine hundred and seven yards. We ranked fourth. Casey is number one with over a thousand. I received it as nine hundred and twenty. That ranks to seven. Kcy
is first over a thousand yards. We are ranked the first downs with seventy six Baltimore's tops and we number we number two rap behind him in the league. Our rushing his five hundred and thirty seven with at third Baltimore once again with six hundred and fifty. That's because they're quarterback brother. They this is different and the reason I'm reading this off and then I know it's at number yards and stuff, but this is different than in
the year that we've started. Man, that's fastest start both press and points. We're fourth with ninety seven. Baltimore is in the league with one ten. Brother, what we're doing ain't never been done before, so we own pace two. Uh that we reached four hundred points in a year, but at the rate we're going it takes twenty five points a game. What were averaging now like thirty, So
we scored the thirty Yeah, over thirty. Party down efficiency. Man, we're sitting at fifty are sitting at fifty eight, so and that's a big number because last year third down efficiency was at twenty three percent. Yes, okay, the end of the year twenty three percent. And part of the reason and why third down is so key, nick is one it tells you that we're getting more chunk place.
I told you guys yesterday that the Cowboys have of eight players on this team that have twenty have at least one twenty plus play under their belt this season. So when you're converting on over fifty percent on your third downs, you're getting chunk plays. And you're extending drives. A lot of times. The Cowboys found themselves last year third and eight, third and nine. When you're getting those
third and distant situations, you almost handcuff yourself. You put yourself in a very limited situation because now we're not afraid of you running for the third down, So now we're we're going to put the coverage out there to make you have to throw the ball into window that
you don't want to throw it too. So now that you're seeing that the Cowboys are converting, and it's early in the year, but over fifty percent of their third downs, that's tell you that they're getting chunk players, which means they're not having to be in a lot of third downs situations. They aren't even seeing a lot of third downs, and two they're converting them. They're not finding themselves in third and longs. And a part of that is they're
not being predictable. This team ran sixty eight percent of the time on first down last year. A lot of times when you start becoming predictable in those matters, it's tendencies. Teams pick up on it, and more often than not, they gamble. They put themselves in the proper position, and you're going to You're gonna eventually fall back into your tendencies, and they hope that you fall back into that tendencies
at the right moment. And what crushes you the most, what crushes you the most is when you play teams with equal talent. When you play teams with equal talent and you get stressing, that's when you come back home more than anything with your percentages. So uh, share with us, man, he gave you something good. Church looking to say, Yeah, Jesse made me want to know where they rank third down conversions in the league. They're leading the league fifty
eight percent. Who's behind them Eagles at fifty six, Chiefs and Cult fifty. But see this is what Chunk plays the due to. And look at the Saints. They're only on third and they've been in shootouts. So we still control because our offense is thirty two minutes plus. We still control. But the greatest difference is I read zone and our short yardst conversions that gives us with touchdowns that allows you to still control the game either through
short passes or the run game. And couple with them's bombs he's talking about, you're gonna be hard to stop. So my question, Jesse, before you go on, is who is the I know they have played the Rams, the Texans in Seattle, all supposed to chances at the playoffs and their prospective conferences. But who is this test? Who as the real test? Is it us the Cowboys? Is it them? I wondah No, I don't think so. Not
in rankings is not there yet, rankings ain't there. They're doing it with Big Brown and a couple of other guys. Did it with Cameron Jordan, second year man, Marcus Davenport. They're doing it with some studs now. But they have been scoring. They have been getting scored one given up twenty seven points. Give me your thoughts, suggests, Well, let me let me before we get onto the I want to add one more thing that you were talking about.
Look at the Cowboys from what they were last year and third quarter scoring to what they are this year. The Cowboys last year would come out of the half and almost just kill themselves, drive killers, not scoring points. Yeah, they're they're more aggressive coming out of the half. Now they're scoring points now coming out of out of the half into that third quarter, which now could they would try to milk the game in the third quarter. And you can't do that in this league. You're not. You're not.
This league is too good for you think you're gonna start milking the game in the third quarter. Right now, you're punting and you're putting your distrust on your defense. That's why a lot of those games last year came down to one score games. The Cowboys this year when they look what they did when they came out of the half for Miami. What did they do right down the field? Yeah, oh, holding on, Connor Williams, bring it back,
no problem, We're gonna right back and score again. So when you add the third down conversions, the red zone percentage is way up, right they were. They were scoring less than forty percent in the red zone last year. And it's that third quarter. Look at the way this team is playing in the third quarter. They're being more aggressive out of the half and not trying to milk the game a weight right now, but being more aggressive.
Oh boom, just Richard. Yeah, they came, but they came right out of the game and it's like, we're gonna attack. But the thing is, and when you look at this Saint's defense, the key matchup in this game is going to be where's ninety four Cameron Jordan because he's going to be lined up on Lyle Collins. They're gonna put Marcus Davenport up top on on on Tyranny. Yeah, what's we're gonna say? For all intensive purposes, Timer's gonna win that battle if they can. And this is how teams
with good corners manufacture pressure. I'm gonna allow them Lattimore and hope Eli Apple can hold up these guys man to man Von bell and and and Marcus Williams. Right, so they got some stut guys in the back end. If these guys can stay locked up to these to
these receivers, you're down. Michael Gallop. Now I can manufacture pressure because I can now start adding more guys into the rush, have guys coming from different angles and really put the stress on guys like Connor Williams, who we've seen struggle week after week after week holding up against the big guys. Sheldon Rankins, He's going to try to
attack that guy. He's questionable right now, but they're gonna try to manufacture pressure and hope that we can go man to man on the outside and not have to come meant more guys to covering, and now we can manufacture pressure that way. Check this out. Well, that's what they did last week. Tried to last week with Seattle, but it didn't work because I think that one they didn't have the the Wilson was able to get out of pressure and all that they had more time. He
led the league in time to throw last week. Nickel And I don't think, I mean, Seattle's offensive line is average at best. Yeah, I mean, we're gonna be here happy we put our line best in the league, I think. I mean, I like the way the Cowboys stack up against him. I just don't know if there's gonna be that bigger. I mean, it's gonna be tough, But I mean,
I just wonderful we're overrating them. I guess they they called him in Nickel, they they Seattle Kelvim Nickel and and and it's something about that cat that plays quarterback for seattles as unique when it comes to bed to escape him, I'm watching this film man, and I saw him one time where he set up his blockers where it was leaking. He ran back up into the middle and them now I'm ana square back up and he dropped back and dropped the forty five yard or two?
Did you see that blade? I mean now yet. But now you've got a better offensive line and a quarterback and he can do that too. So they still have nine sacks up until this point and one force from Trey. Trey Hickerson is a guy that got three sacks. But like you say, this, as the talent get better that you perform against, will this be? And my question is would this be what the Saints know him to do? How to score thirty points to win, or what the Cowboys willing to shoot it out? Or what it is
not to be an ugly dog fight. Somebody win twenty four? You know twenty one? I mean no, I think I think this game. Even both of these teams they built very similar. You look at these teams, they're built very, very similar. When you look at what we are offensively, the new way that we want to get the ball out. We don't want the ball on Dak hands very long, and so getting the ball out alleviates a team again
being able to get sacks on you. One of the biggest issues that we had a year ago with Dak Prescott, who was I think the third most sacked quarterback in the league behind Deshaun Watson, and the first on what was because he was holding the ball too long. He was indecisive, he was thinking too much. Now the ball's coming out, it's coming out quick. And when the ball comes out quick, it's hard to get to the quarterback.
And you put the defense in a situation. You put the defense in the situation where now they're confused and they're on their heels. One thing I want to know, Sheldon Rankins, will he play? We got to find that out. He's questionable right now because I'm gonna tell you something. Will shadow because is a playmaker. He will wreck the
middle of your defense offense by himself. So what I just want to see this game because if they stopped to run, then we're talking about what we've talked about earlier. Now we really see big boy because these dbs are nice. They are nice. You know. I ain't saying Eli Apple is the greatest thing, but he is. He is even holding his own. So we'll see. Will it be a high school, will be a slob and knocker? I don't know, but this is an important game. Let's take another quick break.

My camera? Did? You got it out home in the bay. His name is Kyle. How how many weeks are we gonna be into the show? There? It is? Oh sufore you remember Kyle's name? We should put over under on that. How many weeks before? Nate? I remember six three name? No you don't know. You
don't his name six three? His name is sixteen. Did you say he tried to bring the six What was the man's name that was on the phone yesterday? The comedian? The comedian, Oh, I ain't gonna get country on country Wow? Just cut with a K with a K. He got more kids than my man. Yeah, that's that's Kurt. Okay, I remember you don't remembering a long all? Right? Before we go, Kurt, what's one thing on the Cowboys offense that concerns you for this week? It concerns me? Or
do you have a concern? You know, I'm not as concerned Saints fate. So after looking at the stats, I'm not as concerned as I originally was. I think they can. I think Zeke can have a big game. I think the run defense for the Saints is questionable. They're like thirtieth in the league or something like that. Kurt, They've given up one hundred yards. You do not understand the question I said concerns you on their offense? Do you if you don't have one to say, I'm don't really
have one. Follow these guys say the offense offense the Cowboys, nothing concerns me? And to somebody stop him? Concern me? I mean, who do I'm stopping them? Left guard a minute? Agocer, go ahead, and brother, he has to get better. Who's here? Fifty two? I love guard? Cornel Williams have to get better. You can't play every game on the edge because you're gonna run into a guy that's gonna be hot one the game and he can wreck you can wreck he can wreck you. He can wreck you for that game.
It's it's it's a few players in this league that play inside know to be played for the Eagles that can turn a game around by himself. A good a good defensive lineman can bring you a half a game. I'm telling you, a good defensive have that guy. If I'm praying rankings, say say Sea now, Jesse, do you have any concerns on the Cowboy's offensive. Yeah, My biggest concern is taking a show on the road. And I know they went and they went, they went to Washington,
But that's a Cowboy game. That's a home games. I'm sorry that is there and you go to Washington, I've played there, you've been there, you've been there, you've been there. It's a home game. It's a it's literally a Cowboy home game. So that doesn't feel like a road game to you. But it's being able because this team, when you look at it now, is built on communication. I said it earlier. Having that comes to the line of scrimmage and talk things out. You can't do that. If
you ain't. If you if you ain't never been to New Orleans for a game and a night game, that means they didn't got sauced up all day long. They didn't do a professional They've been They've been hit the foodoo, drinks and things and the hand hand days day. They know when the peak the professionals right, yes, and so when you come in there, it's can we handle the noise? You're gonna have a mistake, You're not gonna have a perfect game. How do you rebound from that? This team
has been built on communication. You saw Dak out there talking. Will they be able to handle that noise and rebound? For me, he's gonna make a mistake, someone's going to drop past in an reception of fump. Something wrong is going to happen, you know, turnover on whatever it is. It's being able to go on the road in that hostile environment and communicate. I will tell you this, I have been there where the saint You say they fake, I didn't say that. Did you ever hear me out
of that word? You say it against? He didn't say Seahawks? What did he say? He don't believe they real? Well? I wonder if they're a little overrated. I'll say that overrated. I will say this. If the Cowboys go in there and they jump out and score quick, that place does get the air taken out of it. It does get a little quieter and a little bit more manageable. Yeah, so they start fast, shut that crowd. They have one key that we don't have, and they have proven that
key over the years. In the last game, it's called turnovers. Score. Yeah, one thing we haven't done a real good job of this year. And then that matchup between Loud Collins and UH and Cam Jordan Cam is a beast. I'm telling you that Collins is like the top rated lineman in the league. Have to bring it this week because he's the best all around defensive end in the league. Cam is the number one defensive man. He would play the run with devastation. He can, he can, he can get
it up for the past with devastation. I'm telling you he is a guy that can do it all. He like that kid that plays with Jacksonville Colliers. That dude is so special because he's not the best pass rushing and he's not the best run stopper, but he does both with just so much efficiency. Man got some of the best hair in the league too, That Cam Jordan. Okay, I'm gonna look at his hair. I just look at his stats. All Right, we gotta go. You're gonna sauce
it up all day, get ready for the game Sunday. No, but Saturday night I will probably not. I probably won't get out of bed until about three in the afternoon. Since you with your mom, knew, come back to the next day, go to New Orleans. You like your mom. I love my mom. But that's dude, that's a five hour drive. That'd be like me going home. I'm saying, coming in, having a hotel or something. They're not coming. They're not coming to the game. Huh No. Wow, he
wouldn't get his mom tickets today. They stop it, Curt Thanks thanks for bringing this Pandy Man. I'm sorry her name now? First time roll Okay to after roll Okay? Cool country Reginald who country ride? Yeah, Kyle, thanks for keeping us on the air, Man William, thanks for getting all the streams up. I know it's really Kate Douglas.
