I did a very good job this season of fighting off buying into this team until about week thirteen fourteen, and then going into the playoffs. And I know you've probably already talked about this. Yeah, thanks Jesse. This is my therapy because I haven't really got to talk about this.

And I bought him one thousand percent. I knew. I was like, look Green Bay.

You know, hadn't watched him a whole lot, but there's no way this guy that's.

And then when everybody starts picking the Cowboys, I was like, this is not good. But I was like, I'm going to pack my Cowboys gear. I'm going to wear it on the beach to this country music festival because you know, all the Niner fans got me last year, and you know, I'm gonna support the Cowboys while I'm down there. And I'd be damned if I had to leave it back in Dallas and tuck my tail and just but you know what, it was nice because I didn't watch any

And but man, is that because they weren't showing them or you were too a neeborated too?

I just didn't care. I just really didn't.

The Cowboys upset me so bad that I just really didn't care about football for about really three weeks till this week.

I kind of half half assed watched the games this weekend.

You know, some good games.

I know.

I watched the second half of the Detroit game, which was dude, you're talking about a game, man, And I watched very little of the Kansas City game. I just they just wear me out, man, And I just was so disappointed that I just really didn't even want to watch football.

I'll watch it, I'll watched the I watched the Big game in two weeks, but I.

Watched the chunk of the forty nine ers game. I didn't. I missed.

I was busy to another stuff, so I was it was fine.

You didn't watch the Kansas City game.

Well I would have, but the other stuff going on, I wasn't going to like drop everything to watch the game.

So, yeah, what did you think about the games?

Were you shocked that San fran came back?

Yes, of course, I'm right, Like I was shocked that they got down that much to begin with to begin with, but then they started marching back. I think football is probably the only sport that there's all these there are these progressive stuff.

That you must take to become a champion, right.

Like I just said, like you build a good team, you kind of you kind of work your way.

And I thought, you know, with the line, I'm like poll that you know to go from the land of obscurity and football kind of said to NFC Championship game, like that's.

A huge leap in one season. So I was I was kind of watching the guy.

I was like, all right, is the moment going to overcome them?

And when they came out, I was like, okay, all right.

And in the second half, it was like, you know, like Eminem said, it's like, uh, mom, spaghetti all over the sweater.

You know what I'm saying. The knees, weeks, palms are sweaty.

And and and yeah, man, to watch that comeback, it was I was shocked.

I was shocked. But you saw you saw.

The Niners right like you saw them be who we've seen them be a lot of this season. In that second half of football and and and the nine and the liners just could not they could not find an answer, right, And I even I tweeted it out. I said, who is the voice? Who is the veteran voice that calms the noise, that calms this thing from going crazy?

Right? You're looking around, Hi'm like, well, is it is it? Is it?

Dan?

Is it? Golf? Who?

Like?

Who is it?

Because relatively speaking, it's a young football team A lot of young guys on that football team, and it was just like no one had an answer. No one had enough to make a play, to make a catch, to make a tackle, to make whatever, to.

Calm the noise. And it just continued to avalanche and avalanche and avalanche.

And yeah, there's some question coaching, you know what.

A lot of people like not to me.

Me, Like, that's the way he's been all year, I said, And even in that game he was doing that, and it's all year now.

I could I could see it.

The field though, come on, I don't know.

That's just.

Someone brought that up, that that that field goal.

Kicker hasn't kicked outside because it wasn't guaranteed. It was forty something.

Yes, But I mean I can see an argument for as a coach, you just want to give your players a chance to win the game at the end.

So I could see.

Going kicking and trying to kick a field goal just to do that. But at the same time, if I'm on that team, I'm like, I'm like, coach, we've been doing this all year, let's go do let's do what we do.

And he has been telling us all your along to he's blue in the face. I believe in my guys. I trust my guys, and we would go, well, the kicker is a guy. Well, actually, we don't really consider part two.

Last one that was the one that hit him right in the chest.

You let you didn't make a stop, Like your defense did not make a stop in the second half, Kansas City got going. When when a team gives you at halftime was twenty four, twenty seven seven. When a team gives you that much cushion, come on, dog, come on, give me something defense, give me something. So we can blame Dan Campbell and and and Ben Johnson. Both games, I was like, man, I feel like I've been here before.

Like did y'all feel that way, especially in Baltimore?

Yeah, to a degree. I wondered, because they're NFC Championship game.

Well, that's a little bit that part I have.

I wondered if if Baltimore's fan Detroit's fans are thrilled with the with their I wonder if Baltimore's fans and the pressure, are they upset is Lamar Jackson taking heat and all that, or because they didn't make them championship game?

Is it all well, let's get him next year?

You know, I don't know about I don't know if you w'n get him next year. Yeah, like feel how you feel. And this is just my personal opinion. I believe Patrick Mahoons is the best quarterback I've ever seen. He's not the most winning in that's Tom Brady, I get it. Patrick mahons the best quarterback.

And sees the game different.

It's like sandlot football, right, And he even said, of course Travis ran the wrong route. It's like that's a common thing, and he just finds him like this.

This dude is I mean, he literally like puttered his way through the season with that roster, and then he was like, oh, playoffs, yeah, oh no problem, I'll turn It's like the NBA.

I'm just gonna get us to the playoffs. Yeah. And then when we get there.

They're like, oh, we have to go on the road. Oh okay, don We'll go to Buffalo, no problem. Oh we gotta go to Baltimore, No problem.

Like with this roster, like Patrick Mahomes in six seasons has seen nothing less than the conference championship.

Yeah that like, how crazy is that?

People spend years upon years upon years and don't ever get to a conference championship game.

Almost thirty in some organizations and.

Six in a row.

The other crazy thing about that stat was he's only played two road games.

Yeah that was this year. Yeah, this year.

I can't believe that San Francisco is the favorite right now?

I think you know why because they listened to Jesse Holly.

And Jesse Holly said about about nine weeks ago.

How do you bet against Mahome?

Maybe the one's gonna beat this team, healthy team, the one's going to beat them if Debo's healthy. That's a tall mountain to climb.

Man, that is tough to bet against my home, I know, and that's where I'm touring at right now.

My heart says I still believe like I said two months ago, three months ago, a healthy forty nine ers team, nobody in this league can beat them.

That's another thing, like we we watched the playoffs right and in Detroit, we I feel I feel, I feel like with their coach and the young team, even what they did this year, they're gonna be back.

In the playoffs for years to come. Right. It's not guaranteed, man, No, no like that.

But Detroit patroity sent Detroited set up. The Detroit setup is pretty nice. Like you gotta think about it. Detroit last year, their first four picks have been impact players. About the great drafting Laporta linebacker, Campbell, Branch and uh Gibbs punch year four, Right, all those guys were starters. Yeah, two of them out of the Pro Bowl, right, So they got and then now Jared Goff he'll get probably an extension or something like that, but not too much.

That stuff yet. So that's a lot of money.

With an organization who was you know, we're talking about going all in organization who now sees that what we have and how we can add to that. They're going to be out here. That's going to be a team that you see in free agent spin.

Yeah, but but then again, it's not like we expect them to be there right for years to come. But like that's the NFL. Nothing's guaranteed unless you're the Chiefs. Yeah, which is insane. You just get used to seeing them in there, right, Like we thought Cincinnati was going to be there right, No, you know, we thought the Cowboys were going to be there this year. Like God, I was so convinced, man, I was like, this is this is the path.

This is the year.

Like, yeah, Niners in the NFC Championship Game.

Yeah, I'll tell you this. I think Jordan Love is going to be. I think he's gonna be really good, man. I like I like to watch made like just his release in his arms. He's got that very my homes quick, you know that just weird from the elbow everywhere and it's just you know, forty yards down the field with just a flip.

I think he's going to be I think he's gonna be good. But we'll see, all.

I mean for the Cowboys going all in on free agency has been signing their own

Signing DAK and CD is a must because it provides the most captain relief.

Some and I have to be very sensitive when I say this, there are some that believe that Micah might not get a deal this offseason, that he maybe he's you know, he can. He's still playing on his rookie deal.

If you want to have any wiggle room, any to go anywhere near close to all in, you've got to get those two guys signed because they give you the most cap relief. And when you sign those guys to new deals, and then if there's you know, I don't know, Steven Jones talks about the pie if there's enough pie left over, and then to do other things with other players. You'll do something with Terrence Steele. Some other guys will have some switches that they can they can hit and

It has to.

There's no way I'm going to sign his guy to an extension and give him all this money and all of a sudden, now Trent is a viable option. So that narrative completely dies right like literally put it in, put it in the in the in the in the ground, piled dirt on top of it.

For what I think Gilmour gave up this year, or a fifth, fifth round pick, And would you take that over again, would you?

Not sure I'd give up a fourth or fifth round pick for Trey Lance.

But or get one back for him, you know.

That or you know, Coop, I mean, you can let Coop go.

So Roger, I just think, like sports Track has Chris Jones and defensive tackles of re agents this year, his annual there's his contract. His calculated market value according to them, is twenty eight million dollars a year, and Cowboys need a defensive tackle.

But I just they can't do that, can they.

I Mean, that's just I don't know if they can get into that kind of ballpark with these big time free agents you could have this year.

I'm I'm sure they can't.

I mean, you know, they always finagle the contracts and they'll work stuff out.

So if you're going all in, right, if you're taking the if you're taking the Rams approach right f these picks and I'm going all in, then it's doable. Because now it'll come to a fiery crash a couple of years from now. But if you're saying the window is right now, whether that being with Dan Quinn and Mike McCarthy, and the window is right now. Sure you can do Chris Jones. You can do Chris Jones and be fine for two years now, years three, four and five.

Which is one thing they've done a really good job of around here, is staying not doing that, not doing.

The big deals and and and what has it gotten groceries?

And well, it's gotten you what twelve and five the last three years, and then it's got it's kept you in the conversation. You haven't had that year that you just crashed and burned for a long.

The fans have lost faith and until you produce something that's greater than what you've had, he understands why the fans

The Chris Jones deal is doable. To go get a linebacker is doable, to go get a safety. All that is doable.

Fiery crash maybe in about two years after the deals are done. But if you're saying and Jerry said it, he talked about going uh you know, you talking about going for it right now and not kind of worrying about down the road.

So if that's the thing, then you gotta go to see that.

The other thing that I think is frustrating fans and I guess me too, is like, why weren't you all in this year, I mean halfway through the season, why weren't you bringing in linebackers? Why aren't you improving your running game?

Because you thought you had you thought you hadn't I have to go about to kick by San Francisco, Arizona.

Yeah, early, you know that first game against the Eagles, you had chance is to make moves, and.

Why didn't you make moves after you realize like, okay.

We need help here, right, we're all in, we need help here. Well, well, let's not do anything.

My only my only rebuttal to that is, hell, we think Jerry's convincing when they go into those meetings, Maybe dan quinn's really convincing.

Maybe Mamy McCarthy's really convincing, and say, you know, hey, we're right here.

Am I going all in on the approach of what dan Quinn had kind of formulated? Or if he goes elsewhere? Who is the next guy that I promote? Is it within is it outside of the building?

If he's not playing linebacker? Is he a part of your safety group? Or is you're all in a part of your safety group? Is he out of the mix? Does the next coach see him at the defensive end or does the next coach say, you know what, I'll move him back to the linebacker.

Right, So, all these questions now will be brought up, and it sets everything off because Dan Quinn has had a plan of how he wanted to do things. And if he ups and leaves right now, who are we bringing in? And then that conversation is are we keeping these guys in the position that Dan had them in or are we changing the philosophy to what you want?

So is this annual flirtation with other coaching jobs? Is Quinn got him in a buying right now? Are the Cowboys sitting here waiting like we can't you know, we can't do anything until we know what he's going to do?

If the schedule is designed in such a way where you're taking on the Bengals, you're taking on Baltimore, you're taking on Houston, and those are like in.

The first seven weeks of the season.

So what I'm saying is that if this schedule is let's just say you open just get the training kid. Let me just say this for it, Like you open up and they go first game of the year, San fran right, second game of the year, Giants, third game of the year, Bengals, fourth game of the year, Ravens Philly, Philly. You open up that your first six or seven games is Niners Philly, Bengals, Houston, Ravens.

I mean you can easily the chatter leaks into the regular season at.

The beginning of the years.

You can easily be two and four, yeah, three and three, one and five.

And then could you lose the locker room early in the season.
