   • BONUS KNOWLEDGE: Numerous studies and analyses, though lacking in reliable population-level data due to the necessary underground nature of the work in the US, actually do put the rates of STIs anywhere between "5 to 60 times higher among sex workers [in the US] than in general populations." Meanwhile, where sex work is legal and sex workers are required to be screened for STIs quarterly, the rate of STIs is overall lower for Australian sex workers than the general population.
