Where did Kyle go? He leave? I think Kyle left, So okay, let's switch over here and I'm gonna turn myself off there. That's no good. I just I just walked in the door like ten minutes but fifteen minutes ago. Now, so there were you at? We had a church thing tonight. Okay,
So Emily and I were out doing a thing. So what's up, guys, how's everybody doing? Yle? Hello, I'm back, You're back? Yeah? I missed last Sunday, had no idea. Kyle your Kyle you you got your camera turned off and your audio turned on, So I'm gonna mute you. I mean we should listen in flex radio on six meters so yeah, yeah, we should totally listen in so oh boy. Yeah,
So what's going on everybody? How is uh? How's how's everybody getting because I didn't see any of Kyle's trivia, so I'm just how how's Kyle's window still up there? I thought you had it hidden non video people. I do not know that's that's on your side. You can hide that on No. No, I'm looking at the live stream side. We got a hand two point h sticker. I know that's Kyle. All right, he's locked. He's using my Zoom account. He's been using my Zoo account for the
last year and a half or so. I need that part. Yeah, go ahead, Jason with what I have no idea. What are you drink it tonight? Let me take over here. I am already for this. What's on your desk? This is six oh three Brewery, which I don't really know where that is. We've got a five oh three brewery here in Texas. Six oh three brewing. You know what? This is from Connecticut?
This is from Connecticut. This is one of the beers that is that I bought when I was in Connecticut and Izzo shipped me a month or so ago. I bought like four twelve four four packs and he shipped to me a cinema shipping Lebel he shipped him to me. So, yeah, this is a six oh three brewing in Connecticut, and it is a toasted pumpkin ale. It's quite tasty. If you like toasting pumpkins, you would like
it. So that's what I'm not fall I know, but you know what, I hey, you know what, the weather today was very fall like. It was beautiful, not it was not hot. It was sunny, it was not windy, it wouldn't raining its clear skies. It was very fall like today. So anyway, there you go. So gosh, where is everybody tonight? I don't know. Maybe they didn't want to have a happy hour. Maybe just people who are just not happy this weekend. I
don't know why. They just wanted to have a mediocre hour and they're like, you know what, I can't attend because it's a happy hour. It was just a mediocre hour, that's all it is. Right there. Oh my goodness. So okay, I don't know. Okay, So well, what's going on? Go ahead, Frank, what's going on with you? Not much, man, It's good to be on a happy hour. It's been a while since I've been on a happy hour. Yeah, you missed
the last one. Didn't you. Yeah, I missed last Sunday. I'll tell you why off scream, but I had something happen and I was just I did not want to be on camera, so I was like, I'm done, I'm done, and I took the day off micros and he's giggling. I'll tell you all later, but it's good to be back. I am drinking bullet. This bullet was given to me by a Patreon. They hit me up and did a super chat, or actually it was a buy me a beer, and he sent me enough for a bottle of whiskey.
I said, yes, sir, I will buy that right away. It took me a while to get to it because I had something to get through, but I did get it. I bought a bottle of that, that exact bullet, that the one with the orange label. I bought a bottle of that maybe four months ago, three or four months ago, uh huh. And I bought a bottle of would preserve the cask oak. And then I bought a bottle of something else and I drank everything before the bullet.
I think the bullet is my least favorite. It's not bad, but compared to the other things I have purchased recently. You had like these there, and I don't blame you for it being the last one there. Yeah, it's yeah, it's it was good. It was just you know, I was trying trying to get in the thing where I was starting to buy new whiskeys and test out new whiskeys, and see I was about to say,
hey, sounds like you're supplying us with the whiskey that go around. Mm. No, not really, but oh, you know you had all this good stuff, man, I did, well, you know what, I left a lot of that in Galveston. There's there's, there's it's there's a pantry I shouldn't say full. There's three or four bottles of whiskey and Galveston that's uh, that are there for the next time I get there. So where is the hidden key. Yeah, it's not the house key. No,
it's not that. No. We have we have three closets inside the house that we lock our own stuff in and it's in the pan including the pantry. We have a cabinet pantry for the for the tenants there, but we have a big walk in pantry that we keep for ourselves and it's all in there. We keep I've got some beer, some Galveston beer and some empty growlers that I keep down there, and I left h I left most of that, most of that hard liquor that people did not take with them
after Winter field Day. I left it there. So maybe it's there for the next time I go down so which which will probably be Labor Day. But that's where that is. Mike, what's going on with you? Oh? Just uh making videos for Mac users. I saw that package of and somebody made a comment earlier on that video that I posted today, But it's like I I was kind of feeling the same way. This comment was, like I need to be the guy to make the videos for Mac because there's
not a lot of them I've made. I've made one or two, you know, this might be the third one. But there's there's really not a shortage of Ham Radio programs on a Mac. Like when I first got into radio, it was it was a little more difficult to find. Once once you do a little more digging, it's like, okay, well, you know, Ham Radio Deluxe might not be on Mac, but rumlog n g is and rumlog on G is frickin awesome. Yeah, it's free and you know, like like CHIRP and fl rig, fl dig w s j t
X grid tracker. Somebody somebody asked me, can you do wind link? Yes you can. Can you remote into your icons? Yes you can. There's a couple apps ones free, ones one hundred bucks. Uh, which one do you think probably gets use more? But yeah, I mean there's some things that I can can't do, like if I want to use like if I want to program some my Icon radios or my my yesu hts uh,
those aren't supported by chirp for some reason. So I have so I just downloaded the software that Yasu and Icon makes, so I have to use Windows computer for that. But like how often am I? Like I'm doing that once? You know, when you're doing like a whole batch entry.
But if you're just loading in like one repeater, right, you don't need a computer so very rarely, or like you know, when the Chinese company send you like a d MR radio and you got to use their CPS, then I got to use Windows. But other than that, there's I'm not missing anything, you know. So even somebody else commented on satellites, there's there's satellite I think it's like Mac Doppler or something like that. I'm not in a satellite, so I haven't I haven't delved into that. But yeah,
there's there's no shortage. So if you've got a Mac, there's all kinds of cool stuff to use. So good, well, good, that's that's good. I know that. I know that. I've seen other channels do videos about Windows, Windows Android apps and how how there's a plethora of Android apps out there for ham radio usage and there's a lot for iOS as
well. Yeah. I think the the apps market's pretty fair, but I think Mike has correctly pointed out that the app logging and some of the advanced tools to getting into radios and programming it is a little lacking, and I think you will thrive in that market. Man. Yeah, before we get too deep, Jason, I just I want to say this earlier early yep, and I'm glad you're sitting down. I want to give you not one, but two compliments. I think I'm ready go ahead. Your video yesterday
about the body mcboat face net. My my wife watched that. She looked over. She's like, Wow, you're really getting into this, arn't you. Yeah. I got a little heated, but yeah, Well, that's great because I've had people email me and I've covered that in mailbag Monday before. Yeah, and it's great to see other people kind of, you know, calling them out for this stuff. Like, right, ninety nine point nine percent of the time, there's not emergency traffic on the broody mcboat face
net. Right, And I moved that we from henceforth call it the body mcboat face net. I know that's what the that's what. Yeah, That's what that guy on on Reddit was saying. And I'm like, oh, that's gonna be hilarious. That was hilarious. So that's compliment one. Good good job on that video. Thanks, second compliment. Uh And I texted you about this like a week or so ago. But a few weeks ago,
Jason posted a video about a series of books. Oh yes, and I these books are right up my alley, like literally really the reason I got into ham radio, yeah, is like this story. So the first book is called Surviving Home by a American. He's got twelve books in this series. So I read this one. This is they're all close to five hundred pages? Is that the first one? I thought the first one was called Going Home? No, I'm sorry I'm sorry. Going home. Yeah
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So I read I read going Home these books and they're not you know, they're not like large print you know picture books. They're actual you know, book book type books. You actually have to know how to read. There's not a single picture in here. Yeah, sorry, Frank, you actually have to know how to read. But it's survival. It's it's stuff hits the fan, there's ham
radio in it. It's it's everything that I was praying for COVID to be then, and it wasn't like I can't put these books down, like I'm going to bed early, Like I'll go to bed at eight o'clock just so I can read this, and before I know it, it's like one in the morning. I read this one in five days. Yeah, I read this one. I just finished this last night. I read this in four days. And when I was like halfway through this, after the second day,
I went on Amazon and bought the third one. Right, yeah, this probably not tonight because I'm drinking, but I've already ordered the fourth book. So Jason, drop your affiliate. Yeah, I will do that. I will do amazing. I am so enjoying these stories and the way it's written, the characters, the things that Fad does with pigs. Yes, at that, it's freaking awesome. And I read that and I'm like, dude, I'm like this guy, I need to hang out with this dude.
You know what I'm talking about. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that got that was that was that was dark, that that part that part of it was dark, but yeah it was Yeah, that was well deserved, well deserved. Yeah yeah, hell yeah, We're well deserved. But it's really awesome. How you know, stuff hits the fan. Everything's cool for a couple of days and then people and I dude, I worked in retail most of my life. People are selfish as crape there. They're gimme,
gimme, gimme. The customer is always right. Everyone should do things for me all that, and like just what happens in this book and the way people start turning is just it's awesome. I can't recommend these enough and thank you for that. When I watched I'm Glad, I immediately went on Amazon. I'm like, that's right up my alley. If you go read the
comments section of that video. During that video, I said, I said, here, you know, I'm giving my spiel about that series of books and whatnot, and I and I asked a question to the audience, which I tend to do and in most of my videos, and I said, what are some other series you guys recommend? And I've probably got twelve, fifteen, eighteen different comments in that video, people saying, hey, that's a great series. Go check this series out. This was good, this
was just as good. This was I like this series better. I like this series as well, you know that kind of thing. So for other suggestions, go read the comment section of that video, because I got some really good suggestions from all of you guys who commented on it. So it was that It's always fun to engage the audience that way. I've got ten more books to read in this series. First, Like, I thought Jurassic Park was good because that was the last novel I wrote or I read before
I wrote, before this, and I burned through that. But I I I read that in I mean maybe over the course of like a week and a half or two weeks. And I'm not reading like every single night. I might, you know, skip a night or whatever. But yeah, yeah, Park was fantastic, too. Holy crap, this whole home Surviving Home series. Yeah, yeah, it's awesome, Rob, that's not a bad idea. Ham Radio two point zero book club. Maybe we will do that. That's not about I was in a book club years ago, uh
with with a bunch of people from BlackBerry. Actually, Frank Fry and uh s O T. D. And a few other guys were in there with this. Bong was in there with this and he put picked some book balls. Yeah, we called the guy Bong. He called it the Mac book Club. Uh yeah. But glad to see your awake, Kyle. Sorry, oh you're good. I know they were asking you about six meters on Flex. Well's that's how I've muted you. Oh yeah, yeah, you turned your your camera off, but you lift your audio on. It's not
sorry, it wasn't very loud. It's fine, it's fine. Well Ward was asking why the six meter antenna was all messed up. He's like, does Flex have six meters? I'm like, yeah, they do it, So that's what I was talking about. Yeah, okay, all right, uh, Izzo or Rob or somebody else needs to join the zoom. So I've got an even three across the bottom of the screen there. I need one more person on zoom. So you guys pick out who you want. I don't care, but yeah, good, Well, I'm glad you're liking
that series, Mike. I really I really enjoyed that. I read the first six books, like I don't know, two or three years ago, something like that. And then I put him down forever for whatever reason, I put him down, and uh, and I started getting back into it because if you go find him now, I'm trying to get this guy,
uh, Angry American. His real name is Chris Weatherman, and I'm trying to get he has a YouTube channe if you if you if you search Angry American, he does a pot he does like a podcast every I think it's every week or something like that, Angry American Podcast or something like that. And uh, and I've watched it a couple of times. He's got a few followers on it. It's not not a huge channel, but it's it's interesting information. And and I out to him and I'm like, dude,
I'd love to get you on an interview. So I'm trying to get him on the show. He's he He did reply to me. He goes, yeah, man, that sounds great. But we haven't really got anything set up yet, so hopefully fingers crossed one of these days. Angry American in the YouTube brought up courtesy of The Red, White, and Blue by Toby Keith. Oh make sure you speel angry, right, it's a n G E R y. Yeah. Well he's the way. Yeah, okay, okay, all right, yeah, but it's good. Yeah m hmm yeah,
so good. All right, what's up Tim? Let's go to Tim. I give Tim the floor for aid it. What's up, dude? Living a dream man? It's fridayser. Uh went out to go see the aurora, and we have all clouds here right now. So I stopped and grabbed a cat shot from the refrigerator on the way. Nice okay from Armed Forces brewing thing tribute beer to the naval aviators in the United States Navy. Oh cat, Mike's giving you a cat shot right now. Yeah, it's
good. Seven three Ham Radio. I'm on book three of the Survivals series. Well, good to you. Seven three. Is that Dennis? That's Dennis Dennis? Yeah, yeah, okay, changed his name. Okay, Yeah, it's gonna say it looks like his avatar. That's why I was wondering if that was eighty sixty. M okay, cool man. Yeah, Dennis let us. Hey Dennis, you go into him vention? So is everyone here? Uh, Craig, I know you're going. You're sure it's your first time at an vention, right, correct? Okay, what are
you gonna? Where are you staying? Oh, that's a good question. Probably a lean to next to some guy's motor home in the back alley. Okay, I think it's a comfort in so it's the same thing. That's yeah, probably so okay, groof optional? Windows optional? Is it good by the university? I have no idea. Last time I was in that area, I was driving eighteen wheels and I tried to get out of Ohio as fast as I could. I feel that way about Illinois, Yes,
so that way about California. If you feel that way about both Ohio and Illinois, Ohio is not too bad. It's not too bad. I've been in worse places. I put it that way. Yeah, California. Yeah, I've been in California. But you didn't grow up in Michigan. No, very true, very true. I did not grow up in Michigan. Yeah. I put a this was funny. I put a video on. I think it was my unplug channel about my truck and how I've got the roof rack and stuff strapped to the roofrack, and I got my battery box
and my fridge in the back of the truck. And some guy comes along and he's like, man, life must be different in Texas where I live. Everybody would steal that crap out of the truck. And I'm like, move to Texas, bro. I don't know what to tell you. I mean, if you live where there's a bunch of crime, maybe you out of vam Ooz, you know, get the heck out. I don't know what to tell you, but I mean there's crime everywhere. Don't get me
wrong. There's stuff gets stolen around here too. But I drive my truck around. I've never had it broken into. Knock on wood. But uh yeah, I thought they, you know, they're any criminals, they're probably a little more suspect, you know. I mean it's possible there's a well, and it's possible there's a camera that's watching them twenty four to seven. You know. That's that's you know, online and working and recording their every move. So I don't know, sitting in a parking lot, I mean,
well, yeah, I know, I gotta. I've got a dash can that's got a three sixty in there. That's like, hey, look at that. There's somebody out here. But I don't know anyway, I thought that was funny. But no, I'm with you on. Oh, thank you, Carlos. Okay, the Mexican Jumping Bean is joining us? No, right, but uh Puerto Rican. Well his the name of his company. The name of his company is Mexican Jumping Bean. That's that's a company, now, you know. Yeah, how's the coffee man? Trigger
m M. I know? Is this coffee is delicious? I don't give a ship, right, Yeah? Yeah, I'd like to get another bag of that from you this year, buddy. I want to be bringing so to the hell mentioned awesome. Yeah, I need to get a bag drink coffee, Frank, I will distribute to people who appreciate good coffee. He he's a dealer, Frank. It might it might change your mind about coffee. Mm hmm. You know, I had I had coffee for the first time in a long time at the Overland uh More Expo, and it solidified
my hate and coffee again. There was some really bad coffee there, you know, coffee. Coffee is like beer. Yeah, you can call mill Or light and Bud light beer, but is it really or you could have a really good beer. So there's a there's a very long sliding scale of traffee. I would agree. I would agree there's a lot of things that are called coffee. There's a lot of things that are probably called coffee that probably shouldn't be called called coffee. But there was some stuff that and Rob
Rob in the chat can back me up. We had some some coffee there. I don't know who was made by, but man, it was disgusting that some of the craft coffee from the Yeah it was it was somebody. It was somebody. Is that is that stuff that Rob brought the peach coffee? No, it was, uh it was it was right beside uh cbe Adventure supply the coffee maker. Oh yes, okay, Oh so you you didn't like that? He had five or six or seven flavors of coffee out
there, and the one I tried I thought was pretty good. Yeah. I didn't have flavorings for coffee. I mean, coffee is coffee, and it was you know, it's like it's like adding flavoring to whiskey. Why would you do that. It's whiskey. Right. Well, but here's the thing. Okay, so I have some coffee. I've drank it all now. I was actually just talking to my wife about this because there's a there's a festival in town in Grapevine this weekend or next weekend, same time.
I'll be at him mentioned But the last festival that was in town, I bought a coffee bag of coffee beans from this company. It was Tennessee Whiskey Coffee, and they soaked the beans in whiskey for like for like several months before they roasted. So that's different, that's but that's but that's that's flavored, right, I mean it's whiskey. And that was really that was That
was good man, I'm telling you about. That was good stuff. That's that's a different story, right, Artificial flavorings that yeah, not official. But Tim, Tim exactly knows exactly what I'm talking about. Okay. You know, if you're saying peach coffee, I'm saying, no, that's pissed water with you know, you know, peach flavory. Well there was. Okay, so peach cock. Okay, so let me explain, Rob can It's it wasn't peach coffee. It was ethio. It was an Ethiopian coffee
blend with peaches or something I don't remember. It wasn't just like coffee with peach flavoring added. This was something done more special than that that coffee. That's but no, I don't think it was that. There's there's there's some kind of there's some kind of coffee that I don't know. I'm going to say it wrong if I say it. So, I wish Rob would join the chat robin to something like that. Yeah, I don't know, but uh something like that. So what's up is? Oh, how are you
tonight? Man? Almost man? Just hanging out with everybody? I had fun on Kyle's stream playing cahoots and uh so just kind of I didn't. I didn't want listen. I didn't want you to think I'm not being neighborly or friendly. If if if I'm holding a spot for guys who are going to Handvention, please kick me off. They should be on the stream. We don't. We're not. We're not like the hand Raider clubhouse. We don't use stream yard that limits you to ten. We have a professional account
of it here I can have one hundred people on this Zoom account. Baby, you're but see just because you are the number one rated, part of that number one rated group, we're part of the unrated. The unrated. Well, hey, I think people like you because you're unrated, buddy, don't give up that title. I want to tell a story regarding a book club. But it was a magazine group that I was in and my late
But I don't know if I could say it here. I was thinking when I was getting my I was getting my cigar to come out here, I'm like, it's Almo. If I could say, because I don't want to ruin it, is it. We're not going to make fun of you if you're if you just tell us all that you were reading Better Homes and Gardens magazine. No, yeah, yeah, let me think about it. And if the show has any low points and we need to, I'll I'll tell the story. If not, I I'm here. I'm here just to hang
out with you guys and have a good time. So all right, buddy, thanks for being here. We got to get you down to Ohio one of these days. Done, Ohio, So listen. I think Huntsville is gonna be my first choice. Okay, this year then uh no, Okay, probably in two to three years, because that's once again, that's the week I got to bring one of my kids up to school. And then next the following year it's gonna be be dropping two kids off, maybe at
the same school, but it's that same weekend. As as Huntsville. I definitely want to go out to Ohio and then I think I want to and I'm not jumping with you. No, no, So I I have to step in here, brother, are we not? Are we not saying that when they turn eighteen their adults? Is that what you're saying? Because if you have to take them to school, that means they're still kindergarteners, right
like the Beverly Hill Building. Yeah, that's that they can do that, you know, you know, once you hit a team, get out of my house. I'm gonna go have fun. Don I'm thinking, what what you need to do with that conflict on the weekend is have your kids go to the University of Alabama in Huntsville and you wrap it all in one shot. Yeah, uh huh. Wow. It's a good idea. See, this is where some of the greatest ideas come from. Happy hours that we know that. Yeah, that's why we do this. That's why we do
this is to come up with good ideas. I think I want to do an overland show. There's something I want, There's something about it. I I I just I need to find other ways of spending my money. What little money we're going to this place to go to more this year? We're good? Okay, Well put more on your calendar for next year. Seriously, and you're going to Missouri. Missouris far from Kyle's. How far three hours? Can I stay at your house? Look at the look? But
I told him he could stay in my house. No, fly fly into it, Saint Louis. I'll pick you up and we'll go down to More. You'll have to use the couch though, because Pixie gets the spare bedroom. Hey, hey, I got I had to sleep on the couch at Don's house. So that's not a problem. You were given choices, you know what. No, No, I I sleep perfectly well on the couch. Kyle had his Kyle had his night gown and his and his makeup bag that he had to take into the room, so he had to be by
himself. But I bet you did. Yeah, face yeah, yeah, yeah, cucumbers, yeah right, yeah, the T zone right I had. There was asage going in there too. I didn't miss that. I purposely avoided that. But no, yeah, uh More Expo next April. Well, I've been for three years. So the first year Kyle and I went, I said, hey, Kyle, this is and I'm thinking, you know, he doesn't live in Texas. Everything in every other state is only ten minutes away from everything. So I thought that Kyle lived closer to
Springfield than he does. But he's it's six hours for me and it's three hours for him, and he lives in Missouri, so go figure. But but so Kyle met me there the first year, he stayed in a hotel. Last year he and Shane and I camp together, and this and uh in twenty twenty three. In twenty twenty four, there was like seven of us. Tim was there, Rob was there, Kyle, Shane didn't make it. Frank was there for the first time. So we want to get
a bigger group next year. We are going to ham Radio invade the More Expo for the next and I've already been talking to Jason at Giga Parts. I was hoping he'd be on tonight. I was like, dude, you freaking have to go to more Expo next year, so I'm trying to get
them to go as well. Steve from Alpha Antenna's was there this year, having him there, show up from Giga Parts that more he went the year prior because he said he said that the because they just opened that new store in Huntsville and that took up all the resources for that time of year, I guess, so they had to they had to figure out the store opening and then start making plans for Dayton. Was since I'm here and Callas over there, now's a bad guy, Cals, a bad influence, a terrible
human being, don't you know. Uh, you know, hikers three hours from my house. And I'm of like hetering on the edge of putting a depositous And I've been good to more only because it's opening week and we're skoud having and you know, gota addict. But oh my gosh, I'm I'm I'm considering a hiker trailer. I have now started a movement. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I have. You know, here's the thing, like I have ulterior motives, but yeah, we know your stand
we know how anal you are about things right. We know how right, we know where you are right, and when you choose something, that means you've done the research. For us, we don't have to worry about the naity greedy BF. So what Here's something I learned about Kyle on this trip. Kyle has more money than time. Yes, yess yeah, you know. No, there's a story behind that. So yeah, Kyle, tell that story about it because I can give you a one way account. You
can just cause it what you have to remind me what story. When you were ordering your hiker trailer and they were asking you about all the accessories, yea, your answer to what you're there, they were like, well, this costs this much, and you're yeah, put that on there. This costs this much. Yeah, put that on there. He's like, I have more money than time. Put that on. Add that to that,
Like I got everything for for a mid range Excel by ten. They're like they literally they have this this order seat and and every single cell was a one, and they let they literally looked at this order seat and they're just like, I don't think anybody has filled the number of ones out as much as you have. And I'm like, I have more money than time. Sorry, when you when you order like a kit, it out KX too, like it's still you know they started right right right right totally actually get
one well bucks three thousand dollars later. Yeah, I just figured, you know what, it's easier for me to to get it now and have them put it in then too for me to put it in later. Because if I I know myself, if I think that I'm going to put all these things in that require time and effort, I'll never get to it. I'll
never do it. Yeah, I uh doing the eclipse. My niece lives there in that same town, okay, in Columbus, Indiana, and I made a point of making an appointment for the day after the eclipse, and I went there and I looked at things, and I was ready to just write a check. Right. And the thing is, things worked out where my wife had to take care of my nephew for that timeframe so she couldn't come along. And legitimately, after reason, I'm thinking about getting a trailer
so she can go places with me. And if she doesn't, you know, if she doesn't get in this thing, if she doesn't look at it, verify that. Yeah, this is something I can totally get behind. There's no sense in me getting it otherwise it'd be my driveway already. Because they had they had a ten out of five to ten decked out with a bunch of stuff that I don't need. But I said, hey, can you take this all? If I decided, like if I go back to my house right now, I say I want that one, but I don't
need this, this, and this? Can you take that off? And they go, yeah, show no problem, those are options a we can easily take up. They had the roof deck, the roof tent, they had what else did they have on it? Basically they had like five thousand dollars worth of accessories that I didn't want. They're like, yeah, we can totally do that, and you know, give us a day and we can have it ready for you. I'm like, great, I kind of I kind of figure. I associate me buying my hiker trailer to people in
their midlife crisis when they buy a Harley. You know, that's this is my Harley. All right, Yes, I've decided, you know what, I wanted to do this, and I wanted to do this for a while actually ever since that I got back from more Expo in twenty twenty two, or maybe it was twenty three. Yeah, I was twenty three, twenty three, yeah, twenty three, and I was like, you know, I'm not taking my money with me, so I might as well spend it
now. Well, two things I thought of when when you guys were talking number one and Okay, First of all, number one, I want I'm gonna let Rob talk here in a minute, because he did some satellite activations from more Expo, which we got some looks for that, and that's exactly what I wanted to do. But take that to the next level. We need to get Carlos to jump into more Expo while we're working him on the yaggy on the yaggy and have people walk by and say, who are you
talk to? We're talking to that guy right there in the sky, you see him. I have no idea. I wouldn't think. Yeah, isn't it wherever you land? Yeah, but you know you need to have a pilot to drop you over the Yeah. Yeah, well just you know, pull one of them gps every phone. Oh, there's uh crazy. There's Ozark Skyline Center in Springfield, Missouri. Carlos which is which is how far from I don't know. Who knows? Springfield is not a very big town. I mean it is it is it? It's a why, it's a
way. It's probably forty five minutes from Springfield. Misers, Oh is it that farm? Yeah, it's twenty five minutes. It's not much for forty forty forty five minutes means what twenty miles of air flight? And I can feed the drop zone. I can fill out the FAA forms and have them filed, and as long as if the grounds give me permission, the fa will let me do it. And I just paid a drop soone they'd take me offline and I land. As long as somebody takes me back to go
get my car, I'm good to go. Yeah, it's it's north northwest of Springfield, says forty five minutes by by car. But yeah, Carlos, you're probably right. It's twenty probably twenty miles as the crow files see. Seeing that. Now we're talking fellas. Now now we're talking yeah, yeah, we wanna, we wanna. We want to show overlanding people how you can jump out of an airplane with the radio and we can dan on the ground the way that sane people do and talk to the guy who's just
jumped out of an airplane. So that'd be great. Do it on. We should totally do that. We should absolutely do that. Have Midland sponsor, No, no, no, no, we don't want to be a after what we were hearing Midland tell patrons at the show that was bead That was that was that I believed has some gm rs. Yeah yeah, we get bridge comb Yeah yeah, that was so bad. Yeah, but what were they saying? You gotta tell us. I didn't hear it. I
heard Rob heard it. So if Rob wants to tell you what a great welcome Rob, Well, hello you, I'm good, good, I'm tired tonight I was being really lazy. But uh I heard you guys butchering the coffee discision. Yeah, the peach, Hey lucky there. Well, I heard you were threatening to pull it off your laptop, So I started ditching questions during the one round of trivia tonight. Don't worry. It won't be replaced with a tank radio sticker. It totally needs a tank radio sticker.
Come on now, all right, but yeah, so I heard well, first of all, to address the middle an issue without getting you know, too too far down hole. We don't want to go. Let's say they were they were very liberal in the capabilities of their radios, and we can
talk more about that offline. Yeah, yes, but yeah, but I had to get on here and and try to straighten out some of this coffee shenanigans that I heard going on. Okay, all right, So Carlos, this peach coffee was fermented coffee, so you know, I mean, you know, part of the processing. So it did come out of fermenting. Is fermenting is normal for coffee, You got it. You have to ferment it to get the fruit off the bean or off the seed if you will.
You can go to an extreme right, and there's different ways that you can do fermenting, and so that's how they develop in this case a peach note to the coffee flavor. And so it wasn't peach flavored, so much was fermented with the intent of developing the peach note or hint of it in the fermentation. Absolutely, now that I can totally get behind and understand. Yeah, now it was. But the thing is, in order for that to taste right, you have to brew it at the right temperature and at
the right density to get the flavor out. Well, these guys know what they're doing. Uh, this is uh, this is a a roaster down in central Florida. So Todd had turned me on to them. Whenever I was down there for Hamcshion, he shared a bag of coffee with me from his favorite brewer or roaster, and then I returned the favor. And then a few weeks later I got another bag of coffee in the mail. I'm okay, this is pretty good. I like the way this is turning out.
But it was. It was called Bowser's Dream and uh it you know, a play on some Nintendo stuff there. But you know, it was good. That's it. That's it. So it was quite good. It was well done, well done. So I can send you, uh you know who roasted it, Carlos, if you're interested in checking it out. So it was tasty. I remember tasting it thinking, you know, that was I'm not a big peach fan, but I thought that. Uh, I thought it was pretty good. So yeah, that's right. I was
forgetting the fermenting I had forgot to mention from it. Yeah, I knew it wasn't peach flavored. It wasn't like a peach flavoring it. But the fermenting is what I forgot about. So yeah, it was good. Good cool. Robert, you know, are you going to Dayton, Rob Yes, sir, I'll be there on Wednesday, okay, you know for those of for those of those oh those those sting of the fret House, I got you covered. The frat house will have coffee. Cool, fantastic.
When are we leaving, Jason? I think we're gonna leave Monday night, which is what we did last year. We left Monday evening ish and we'll drive for five or six hours something like that. Yeah. I couldn't remember if it was Monday or two days. I was thinking. I was thinking we left Tuesday morning. But Emily told me, she goes, no, you left money now you don't remember. And I'm like, you know what
now that you say that, I think I do. So. Yeah, because we stopped somewhere in Oklahoma because of my poor decision, I'm like, hey, let's just drive a few hours. We'll stop, yeah, and then we'll just drive, you know, the long we'll take the long drive tomorrow. Yeah. Yeah, that sucked. We're not doing that. We're not doing that again. No, it's just something you really want to leave Monday midday, no, so that you can you know, then it's you
know, short CIDs. It's a sixteen hour drive with no stops and no RV trailer. So it took us. I think it took us like eighteen to nineteen hours last year, all said and done something like that. We can leave earlier in the day. I mean I can drive up Monday morning and be there by how many eleven or twelve? It's about six it's sixteen because if you if I put in Google Maps from grape Vine, Texas to Xenia, Ohio, right now, it says it's like sixteen hours in like
twenty minutes or something like that. So okay, yes, because it for you, it's like six hours to get to Springfield. For me, it was six hours to get to Springfield, and I'm like two hours away from Dayton. Yeah. Oh well you're you're coming the opposite direction then yeah, yeah, yeah, it's about it's about sixteen hours what again? And according to Google Maps, it's gonna take us longer than that. So yeah,
Mike, I mean you come up Monday. I gotta I've got two or three things I got to do on Monday before I can leave, And one of those is I'm actually gonna I was gonna go get the trailer that morning. I'm actually probably I'm gonna try to go get it Sunday after Mother's Day lunch. I think I'm gonna try to go get it Sunday. But we'll see. I gotta go get it and bring it back and then pack it.
Packing won't take very long at all, But we can leave earlier than that if we want to, because yeah, I cause what we're gonna do is what we've done for the last two years, which we want to get there, and we'll probably I think we got there a semi I don't remember if it was dark or not when we got there. It wasn't quite dark, it was I think that's what I was thinking. That's what I was thinking. Okay, So we got there and set up camp and whatnot,
and then I did a live stream from the camp. It was definitely dark by the time we were setting up camp though. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I remember that. So so we're gonna do do a live stream from the camp site on Wednesday on my noontime live stream that I often do on Wednesdays. We've done that last two years, so I'm going to do that again this year because that's it's a good, good way to kind of start
the weekend. And then you know what, I have nothing planned extra curricular for this year other than the Troll Pub, which I think is is that Friday, Kyle, the Troll Pub Saturday. It's Saturday, Okay, okay, okay. I couldn't remember if it's Friday or Saturday. So that's the
only thing I have planned. We on on Sunday. When we were driving back last year, Yep, we had a conversation because I think like Wednesday, we got there, we did the thing, and then Thursday when we woke up, we're kind of just like, let's do nothing, you know, like let's just chill whatever. Yep, and we had the conversation that we should go actually do something like a PODA or go to that four days in May. Not that, but the Voice of America Museum or the Voice
of America. Yeah, and the Air Force Museum. The Air Force Museum, like we should go do I don't know if we'll have time to do all of that, but we should pick one of the house. The museum. The Air Force of the Museum is freaking amazing. I've seen videos of them both and they both look like awesome things. The Air Force Museum. Literally, I want to go up one year and I just want to take all of Sunday and go to the Air Force Museum all of Sunday, not
like just a couple of hours all day Sunday. Hmm, I would be I don't let you cover the Air Museum in like fifty percent, right, Yeah, it's an enormous facility. Yeah, I want to get I want to do. I want to do. I want to participate in Four Days in May more this year because I was there for like an hour last year. I didn't catch any of the presentations and we had the Flex Radio dinner on Thursday night. I'm not going to that this year, just because I
wanted to. I wanted a free and clear year with no with with no extra curriculars filled up, filling up my schedule. So I'd like to go to Four Days in May kind of maybe pop in and out. We could go to the Air Force Museum. That's totally fine. If people are there, then we can get a group to go do something. And I wouldn't mind going to I think we did. We did a podahlat didn't we go meet James for a poda at some point last year? I think we did
that. That might have been two years ago. I have done a PODA in Ohio during the weekend of ham Mention before. Maybe that was two years ago, but we have done the years ago. Because you guys went to one park and I thought it was a different park and I ended up with a different park. I'm like, there's no way in this world that everybody's gonna fit in here. And and I attempted to activate and got like three contacts at the park. Parker was just a parking lot and there was trails
that went off just a single park. Yeah, yes, yeah, that's and you know I set up my infant there and it was just it was sunk in the middle of a valley and like the propagation from there was terrible. Which there's two troll pubs showing up in the Google Maps, ones on Wheelhouse and the other ones under the bridge Wheelhouse not under the bridge. Yeah, there's two troll pubs in Dayton. Now, news to me that under the bridge things sounds like a red hot chili pepper, A real troll pub,
a real Troll Pub. Yeah, yeah, no, it's on Wheelhouse and we have we have the we have the room reserved again, Kyle, is that correct. Yeah, well we've got the side of the bar. Yeah, yeah, the studio and the patio. Yeah, that's like a five minute from my good yeah. Good. So so walk that night, walk into the Troll Pub and then go to your and then we are around the pub. We've got half of the bar reserved, actually the you know,
half of the bar. And they say we have our own bartender, but you know, it's just the bartenders come and go right, and then it spills out into the patio area and you can order food. They got good food, they got good beer. You know. A bunch of us put dollars down. You know, since I have more time, I have more money at the time. You heard it here, I'll put it here. I'll put some dollars down so everybody can drink some free drink some beer for you know, so I usually appreciate it. In years past, I
have I have they require you to put a deposit down. Not no more, they know they did. Okay, well, it's never been a it's it's never been a problem. The deposit only really gets applied if we don't spend that much in whatever, be in fifty dollars. Yeah, So the first two years ago, the first time we went to the troll pub, I said, I put it, and I don't even think they charged my credit card. I gave a credit card number for a two hundred fifty dollars
deposit and I don't think they ever actually charged it. So when we got there, I'm like, hey, I just want to go ahead and uh, give the first two hundred and fifty dollars. This is our group over here, so everything that these guys order, when it reaches two fifty, let me know and I'll cut it off and then everybody else can pay for their own stuff. And then Josh came in and did some and I think, uh, two or three other people as well. I gave you may
out. Yeah, Kyle did too, so I so I think that year, this was two years ago. That year, we had been there for like twenty minutes and they come back to me. They're like, all right, dude, you're a two fifty. Like, all right, man, put it to three hundred. It's fine. So I did a little bit more and I'm like and I heard one of the one of the guys that
was Josh Discord admin. We were sitting around the campsite on Sunday and he's like, dude, I was talking to that we were there at that last call that night and he said he said, I was talking to the guy. He goes, we dropped about thirty five hundred bucks into that place that I do. I'm like, only wrap yeah, yeah, yeah, they love us. Yeah. Whenever I reserved it, I said, hey, I want to reserve the bar the party area, and we were the ones
last year that reserved it. This weekend last year and it's Rachel and she emailed me back and said, okay, we have you down. And I said, do I have to pull it? Put a deposit down, and she goes, We've got you covered. That is awesome. Yeah yeah yeah yeah we may bro we have made that make the troll pub. Yeah right, they know now, yeah, they know as wow. Okay, so troll pub Saturday night. That's uh, that's that's the thing. You guys make, make plans for this. Okay, good, good guess too,
though. I mean it is great. Your selection great, great election. Yeah, great selection. They have bartenders are great, like there are you don't have to dick. Now you can sit out there on the deck and relax. So if you're going to go to the troll Pub, you got to pay the parking fee. The parking fee is minimal. It's like three dollars and fifty cents or four dollars. But do not do what I did
and not pay the parking fee and get a fifty dollars parking ticket. So you got to go to like the ce serve keyos yes to find that machine and pay so insane paying I don't remember paying that last year. Well you got by then because after after seven pm on weekends all of the spaces in Saint Louis are free. So that's what I assumed at Dayton. No, that's not the case. So if you're going to park in the parking lot, yep, you got to pay the fee. You got to pay the
piper. Do you know if they do you know, if they charge in the parking for the those of us that are the sick, lame and lazy and have those blue placards. I don't know, Craig. That's good because I know in California we don't have to pay for any parking. If you got the sick, lame and lazy pla. Really yeah, but you're coming to the rest of America, bring bring your passport when you enter the USA.
Craig stand it does, Craig, I, I would suspect no, because so so the troll pub is like right here, and then the parking lot is kind and there's their driveway like right next to it, and parking lots kind of on the other side of the driveway. I would bet you that there's some actual parking spaces in front of the actual restaurant for handicap places. But the the the parking lot we're talking about is kind of a little bit sort of separated. It's not but it's it's not absolutely right next door
to behind it or something like that. It's all on the same street, but it's it's kind of offset to the side there, And I think that's what where Kyle's talking about. But yeah, I would suspect that there's some some handicapped spaces close by to the restaurant, but I've never looked, but I'm determined handicapped space is usually free though outside of California, no idea here here in Indiana. If you are a disabled vet and have a specific disabled
vet handicap license. Well, vets should never have to pay for parking, correct, I agree with you, sir, Yeah, I would think that if you have, Yeah, I would think I would. I would bring your four or five dollars for parking, just in case I have to bring the human wallet. Human wallet. Nice, that's my comment controlling the purse string. Nice. I would think they would be free, but you know,
yeah, yeah, okay, anyway, troll pub Saturday. So the locations on that No, no, no, there's only why you know, word on the street is third I d people always have to pay, no matter what. Yeah, okay, well what about eight? What about forty? Is everyone here in the discord chat which was so there's a discord chat on Josh's server called ham Bench dash tubers. Yes, that's the same.
If no, not the tubers one. It's not if you're in handvention dash tubers, or if you're if you're not in hand vention dash tubers, hit me up and I'll get one of the guys to see if they can add you, because it's not the it is, but it's not the same. Lock your parameters for the other chat. Yeah. So yeah, there's Carlos right there, So hamvention, ham mention tubers, that's where we I mean, the best way to communicate and I was going to talk about meshchastic here
in a minute. The best way to communicate is with your freakin HT. This is a ham fest. Bring your HT, okay, but that will be a lot of the times we share drop pins and locations and whatnot in that in that room. So if you're look, if you don't rig your HT, you have zero chance of getting me perish and lobill right, keep it. Then you don't need Rob who you can? You can always pull the Rob and irradiate me with fifty one and an ELK. Who's bringing your
your al Co antenna? Rob? Jason? Other Jason? Yeah, oh yeah, yeah. Let's say you can borrow mine if if you need it. But sounds like it got covered. Yeah, okay. Would you believe a c K texted me the other day after because when I did my DIGI rigged mod video on Wednesday, I mentioned that I bought this new MacBook Air and he's like, dude, if you don't want that crapopotamus anymore, I'll give you fifty bucks. Oh my gosh, really what he loves, he
loves loading Linux on those. So, yeah, it's funny we have that. I'll get rid of it. I have another one. I have a brand new one still in the box in the closet I bought too. I mean, everyone knows like tank crash that hard drive, so I right, I don't know if everyone knows. And it doesn't even have a hard drive in it. Nobody knows what he did, but he was the last one to use it. He's got an electric person. I saw him shuffling, I shuffling, shuffling his feet with wolf socks on carpet. I saw him
lies and slander all over the place. Wolf socks on carpet. Okay, good, you know does this ham mention? Are they like ham cash? And we have an internet access that we can Honestly, they are not as up to date as that. But at the same time, I yeah, memory serves the internet there at the facility is better indoors than it is in Orlando. So I don't remember ever having an issue with running my life streams on at and T four five G from him vention. I've done that the
last two years so and I'm planning to do it again this year. I don't. I don't think that we got Wi Fi to him vention, but I don't remember needing it either. Now I will have my starlink set up at the camp site, but that won't. That won't. That's not very far reaching. And you guys are welcome to it to use it when we're there. But this is you won't be able to walk through the buildings or
whatnot. But I can bring my I can bring some of ubiquity directional stuff, and we can beam your stuff across into the do it, do it, Let's do it. I don't care where OREF and sit and radio signal. Guys, we should be able to make something happen. So bring us a Wi Fi extender that I've never opened. Oh, there you go, I got I got that one because it was free. But I thought that might be a good thing to have uh at at Huntsville. See if we
can get a little sign that's an idea. You could. You could extend the starlink over meshtastic and let's say coverage in the buildings. Can we have somebody stream on YouTube for the first time on packet radio. Awesome, that'd be fun. That would be fun. That'd be fun. For the audience. Yeah, I'm sure there's an iOS app for that. Yeah. Yeah, it's just a it's just all a PRS packets. You gotta frame every three seconds. It's fine. As a side note, because Jason, I
caught your Zion hanvention thing. Yes, yes, anyone else here going to that besides you and me? Uh, Kyle should be there, depending on some stuff he's got going. Uh, Frank, are you going to that? Which would Zion in July? Yes, I'm going to that. Man. Well, dude, I can't keep up with what the hell you're doing on any given day. So so so, Frank and I. Your schedule changes left right to you know, my schedule has not changed. My schedule doesn't change for ham fests, No, it does not. Uh yeah,
yeah, I believe Adam and Josh are going to that one. Charlie is going to that one. Who else I'm coming out after Zion? Yeah, yeah, Rob's going to be U is out there before a Yellowstone. I wish I could go, but that's too long a trip. Come to the ham come to ham Fest and Bill. Yeah, Bill will be there still.
I was looking at it on your live stream on Google Maps. That's like from me, it's like a twenty one twenty two hour drive, come up, come up north and ride out with us and then fly home from and then yeah, they have a small community airport and you're only two hours away from Las Vegas. Mm hmmm, you can get McCarron airport. That'd be an expensive ass uber ride home for me though. From the airport,
I have to go back past mccarren's. If you want to Vegas, if you if you, well, no, never mind, run the airport, never mind, never mind, not if you're parked at my house. It won't be Yeah, well, if I flew from Houston, if I flew back to Houston, it'd be a really no no, no back up TOAs never mind airport. Don't do that. Don't do that. But to Hobby right yeah, oh boy, Okay, maybe I'll have to think. I want to go. I want to go to that really really bad. But
the logistics plus, I'm going in October. I'm going out to Washington for the Radio Adventures Pacific Beach thing. I just I just bought my flight for that the other day, and I still need to pay for the actual Like, how is it? I don't even know how much it is, but I want to go to that one. Yeah. They keep inviting me to that. I really want to go to that one of these years. I've never activated Washington, so that that's on my list of states to activate.
I fun is I like having fun. I'd like having fun most. Yes, I had heard a rumor that there's a plan to activate US zero zero zero one. Yes, there is. I well, okay, so so so I need to follow up on that. I called them in this is what this is. May. I called them in like February or March somewhere in there, and I said, this is what I want to do. And they said you need to all back like four months before you want to come out here, that they wouldn't take a reservation talking September, September,
October, yeah, something like that. So yeah, so I need to I probably should have called him last month in April, so I need to call him now. Boys and uh like, hey, you know Jason's thinking about coming out here for activating this, you should come out guy to a pepper roll and then we just keep on most eating it up to me and I'm like that's uh yeah, yeah, that's New Hampshire is a fun place to activate apparently when Colin and I were doing our five eight or nine state
potoro of whatever it was. Vermont apparently is highly sought after by lots of people. The Fort Dummer, the Fort Dummer. Yeah yeah, but uh yeah, yeah, everyone here is dumber for having listened to it. Uh yeah, apparently Vermont is. And I'm like Vermont. I had Vermont my log prior to that trip in my in my in my in my activation log. I mean, but it's in the state of Bernie. So it's definitely the fourth dumber of the place. Well, you know what, you speak
a lot of truth, my good sir. So yeah, but I wouldn't mind going all to Hey. I wouldn't Carol, I wouldn't mind going to Uh. I wouldn't mind going back to Vermont and spending a weekend or something, because apparently that's that's a popular place people. People want to chase you out there. So that was that was pretty countryside Vermont in New Hampshire. Yeah, it was very, very one of the most one of the most
difficult quotas I've done is that one I did the last week. I got one whole contact out of it, and that's the Theodore Roosevelt birthplace on twentieth Street in Manhattan. You're just surrounded by cement buildings. And don't go on Wednesday through Sunday because the house is open for visitors and there's no place but to set up your intentna on the sidewalk. Really, Statue of Liberty was great and Ellis Island were great. Those were those were good quotas? Did
you activate both of those? Yes? I got awesome and so I was very surprised Craig that need to permit to do Ellis Island. No. In fact, well, they tried to stop me when I was getting on the ferry at the yeah Battery Park. Yeah, yeah, yeah, the security tried to stop me and I was getting ready to go into my I'm licensed by the FCC. You don't get that choice. But he's like, let me talk to a supervisor, and the supervisor set him straight. Yeah.
The only thing you pay for is twenty five dollars for the ferry ride. But you got to make an appointment on the ferry ride. Right. Yeah, I've been to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Oh, so Ellis Island is the immigration island. It's not the stat Okay. So I'm getting the too confused, because there's two. Whenever you buy that ferry ride ticket, you get to you get to both, right right. So you went to you activated Ellis Island where the immigration office was. Oh, you
did both of them. They took They took me to Statue Liberty first. I did a live video on that one. Oh okay. And then I went to Elis Island and I did a recorded video on there. And if I had ever get off my lazy ass, I'll actually edit it put it up. Yeah. Ellis Island is the immigration point of the ported port of Immigration for way back in the day, and both of the islands have tables and chairs you can consider. Oh okay, gotcha? What did you use?
You just like a just a small vertical. I had a G ninety and my buddy stick pro okay, nice. You have any pictures? Do you have any pictures, Craig, take any pictures of your setup? Not at the moment, No, okay, because I would send I'm in Big Bear Lake doing a activation tomorrow. Now. Did you take pictures of your setup at Ellis Island or at the Statue Libally Nope? Okay, but screen stills from your your video. Yeah, I can, Yeah, I can
pull some of those. I'll go find your video. I'll send it those a Chris at Buddy Pool. I'm sure he'd love to see those. Yeah, it's been to I've taken that one to three places in Manhattan or the Statue of Liberty Theodore Roosevelt, Ellis Island, MAUI now Big Bear Lake. So cool. It's been working quite well, and it's so easy to take on an airplane. It's lightweight, small packed. Ye. How how did you activate Ellis Island? Did they give you any issues to ask or did
you just kind of do it stealthy? You did a remote? Well just I try two couples, but string kept getting wet. Yeah. All. I set it right up in the main little area that's technically behind the statue Liberty is, like where the gift shop and a little restaurant is. And I just sat there and nobody bothered me. The only problem I had was a family of French people sat down and worked loud as hell a wow tables and they sat next to me. We give the Americans this statue, this
should be ours. That was that was, that was, that was And then Austrian. Actually, yes, I got some Austrian and me too. Whatever that get to the chappa like a good like a good neigh the need to watch for hand radio prepper, get my friend. I keep hearing, I keep it, I keep hearing. Neighbor, but it's neighbor. That is what I said. Neighbor like a good neighbor. State is the That's great? All right? Only an hour in? Oh boy, I'm sorry. Yeah, jo So who who has a mesh Tastic device? First,
Jason, what is a mess taxi device? Okay, So I have a video premiering Monday, and Josh has a couple, and Ringway Manchester has a couple, and Andy Kirby has a lot. Yeah, Andy Kirby has a lot as well. Mesh Tastic has been in a nutshell. It is a license free mesh router similar to Arden, but smaller, more compact, a little bit, a little bit easier to set up, in my opinion, not on the hand bands. It's in the hurts. It's in the nine
hundred megahertz commercial band, which which we as Ham's share. So it actually is a HAM band, but not a ham onlyband, and it is a system of off grid text messaging. So you download an app on your phone called mesh Tastic and you connect it via Bluetooth to one of these devices. I didn't bring one out here with me, and then you can do off grid text messaging. So one of the guys at Belton had a mesh Tastic radio and he was talking to He said there were eight or ten people there.
Bill had one at more Expo and he was finding people on the app via the via RF in mesh together. So we are hold on, Frank, we are I think it's I think it's Evan. Evan in the Ham Radio crash course discord hit me up several months ago and he's like, Hey, can I put a repeater which is basically just a radio up on a tower at your RV camp site at him Venchin And I'm like, that's a great idea. So I'm bringing my my fifty foot buddy pull carbon fiber mast
out. They're going to attach to the back of the trailer and we're gonna put up a Meshtastic repeater there at the camp site and then people with mesh Tastic devices nine hundred megaherts will be able to connect and they all mesh together, all you do is turn it on. All you do is turn it on, and it automatically connects itself once you flash it with the mesh Tastic
firmware. So we're gonna have that setup one before him. Bention. I don't know, maybe maybe maybe maybe not, depends on when you leave for him bention. I bet. But so I saw that there were like three different bands. Is the nine hundred Mega Hurts the one that you want to buy? Yes? Yeah, the nine hundreds commonly called nine hundred and fifteen Megaherts. I think it's technically like eight ninety to nine forty or something like
that. So I had some but yes, because because then there like you can select whether or not you have a hammer license, and it disables features that you can't use with your hand license, Like I saw something like that in there. Yeah, I just I don't know. I checked mine said yes, I have a hand license, but you can go in there and uncheck that if you want to. I don't have mind encrypted. I just I the times the very few times I've seen it used, they did not
use it. Encryption. Encryption is great if you want to get a group of guys together and say we want to have our own private channel, then great, do that. But the point in doing it the way we're doing it next week at a handvention is to try to find as many people as we can all in the same room. Josh actually created a tuber's room for us with a QUE you can create a room that has a QR code and
you just scan it and automatically get your device added to that room. And then there's like a default room that that is part of the Meshtastic firmware. So you just boot it up and you see this, uh this, uh it's the room name is long fast, which means long range and Fast Fast EAT or something like that. So so the default room is what I've seen most people use. So my comment is here, I joined the amateur ready
to talk. Why do people keep inventing things? I gotta type and and to get Frank type in because I c W I I'm not gonna do and now now you got to meet a text too. You see me in the chat. It's true. It's a good point, Frank, but yeah, it's not for everyone. Yeah, it's not for everyone. So Rob, Rob, some things are just not for you. But we're going to be running that at ham Vision next week and if you have a device, bring it with you and we will see. So, actually, this is pretty
cool. I like to get a device and play with it. It sounds like I have nine devices. I might have gone a little bit over to so I have I have four of I have Yeah, I have four of the hell Tech V three's. I have four of the T beams, and I have the T You remember that one that looks I showed it to you one time, Frank, it looks like a BlackBerry curve. Yeah, I've got that. That's the one. That's the one that built. Yes, that's the one that Bill had. More. It takes five minutes for me,
though, it takes four minutes if you have a twenty. If you have it well, actually it's all web the firmer flashes all web based, so you can even do it with a Mac. So easy. Even a Mac user can do it. So I'm so used to his bullship. Yah yah, yeah that is Yeah, I can get it. I can get a pair of moustastic and it's here tomorrow for fifty seven. Yeah, I'm looking right now. Okay, V three, the hell Tech V three here. Let me let me do a screenshot, show you the ones. I'll
show you the ones. That's let's see I bought I bought mine from lily Go. But I mean, you can you know you can. I barely know how to work. That's about all I can guarantee you. It's actually not hard. The new tag the new tagline for my show. Seriously, I've been thinking about this for a while. I'm going to create a new tagline for my show. Actually if actually the tagline is going to be if I can do it, anybody can do it. So, so here is
let's see. Boom. Okay, you guys, I've got virtual camera turned on. So this is the hell Tech Version V three and that's you see it says mesh tastic on it. This is after I've flashed it with the firmware, not seeing what you're showing. Look at look at zoom. It's the image. It's the image I'm feeding to you in zoom. Okay, Oh hold on, okay, hold on, my bad, how's that much better? Okay? Okay, okay, So that's yeah, that's one there. Uh no, that's not it. This is this is the one here.
I've got four of these, so there's two of them right there. I've got two of them that are flashed. This is the tea beam right here, and I think Josh is three D printing me a case for one of these. And this is the one that has an external intenna attachment and you can attach it external intends. The other ones, you just got to open it up and change some of the jumpers on it or the the coax on it. But this one right here, it comes with an s m
A connector. I've got a magmunt antenna for nine hundred megahertz that I'm going to connect, put on the truck and run from this when we're driving to Dayton next week. So you use your cell phone to send messages? Yes, yes, you use yourself it's an app on your sofaone, but you can. But it does not require like Internet. It's all done. It's all done done offline. So yeah, So which one should a person get
is their first? Whichever one you want to buy, I mean, they all flash, they all flash with the same firmware, so so I gotta I gotta flash something on this one. I get it. I have I have enough for you, Mike and you Frank. I have enough if you guys want to try it out first, I have enough that you guys, we can we can, Yes, I can let you buy one. I've seen some videos on the flashing and it is literally you go to a web page, it's easy, and select your device, select the load, and
hit go. I can do those things. Yeah, Jason, will I get the all Star node from you? You still have one of the Raspberry Pie for ones. I think that I do. I think I think I have one or two left that are unbuilt. That are unbuilt. So remind me when you get here on Monday. Okay, remind me to remind you. Yeah, I will, so, yes, we can do that. So anyway, so mesh Tastic is going, what's the cost on these things? Because again, I've got to deal with this over here? She looks
thrilled. I love how you call her out. That's great, she looks thrilled. I I think that, Uh, you know Kraig's funerals next week, folks, right, Yeah. I think I paid like anywhere from like thirty to thirty five dollars apiece for him, something like that. It's been a while since I bought him. Actually, I'm looking on the line right now. Amazon has a pair of them for fifty seven dollars. Send me a link, send me a link in the chat in the zoom chat,
Carlos, and I'll tell you. I'll tell you for sure if that'll, I'm sure it'll. The flashing. The flashing website at mestastic dot org will support like fifteen different devices, so it's not like just one or two devices. Okay, let me see. Oh that's a nice affiliate link there, Carlos. Let's see. Yeah, that's it. Yeah, that's it. That's it. That's the hell Tech V three. Yes, that will absolutely work. That's a good price too. It's a good price. Yeah,
it's good price. You like it, good price, good price, you like you bight know New York City shell game going on? Yeah, so yeah, yeah, look at the link that Carlos put in the chat. And oh I'm still sureing that I don't I where did we go? Oh crap, I got I got the wrong screen here, So case scenario were legitimately, guys, where's kissing area? This is an ESP thirty two S three, So even if you don't use it for ashtastic, you can read purpose the doing other fun stuff. Oh yeah, absolutely, yeah, h
absolutely, Well. The t deck's cool because it has its own keyboard, right, you don't need to connect your phone. That's the one that looks that's the one that Bill had at at More and it looks like a BlackBerry. Yeah, so I have that. Bill is printing me a three D three three D printing case. Yeah, so I'm gonna tinker around with that when we're at him vention next week. I don't I don't have that one flashed yet because I don't have a battery for it. But yes, yeah,
that one's that one's neat as well. Oh, such, it's just the board, not the case. I was just looking at that looks like an old crack bird. Y'all. Y'all, uh watch my video that will premiere on Monday, and I go through how I do it and what I can do and what is what's all involved in it and what Tim is Right. This is just the board. It doesn't have the battery and it doesn't have the case, right, it doesn't need to. Well, okay, so so the one you're it does have a case. The picture you sent
me had a case that that little green and white thing case. It doesn't have a battery. It doesn't have a battery, but it will run off a USBC. So I have a USBC charging brick and I plugged that. I plugged that device into it, and I let it run for sixteen hours, and the battery was still at one hundred percent after sixteen hours. I mean, it'll run for a fricking month and a half on a on a
on a charging brick. You can't what's up? You can? So I had to jump in because I want to save you a lot of frustration. So, yes, you should get the hell tech. But but hear me out right, so don't get the one that doesn't have the SMA connection. You want one of these guys, for instance, that has the little tiny SMA because then you can swap out better antennas. Okay, so that's the
first pro tip. Well the well, I got the one without the SMA, but then I just bought some IPX to SMA connected adapters on Amazon. You could do that. But if you're already gonna buy it, you might as well get the one that has the SMA now. So then yes, these can be externally powered. And I'm literally I've got my workshop assembled here. These three thousand AMPI hour millimp hour batteries have the tiny connector already on it for these guys, and I'm literally just putting them in there with the
connection and it goes in these cases. That's the way to do it. There's your your three printed bands. Yeah, I see my name there. Yeah. So that's the way to go is just buy the three thousand million power batteries. They're on Amazon. Get the one with the SMAs because these are actually some pretty kick ass inten for these which are much much bigger and and they do nine hundred megahertz. Just fine. Yeah, they're the Heltech is the way to go to get started. The T Beam. I like
the T being better myself, honestly, but it's a log. It's it takes so much power to run that thing. The battery life is not good. You gotta you're talking about the battery in it? Sorry, the T deck, the T deck, No, I'm talking about the T beams. Oh got the one that takes in eighteen six fifty. Yeah, they're cool. The problem is it's the weird SMA sticking out of the side is kind of but I think that much. Well, mine sticks out the top, not the side, but like on the side, like in the middle,
you know what I mean. Yeah, it is in the middle, but I think that one, I think that one would be better for running mobile. I'm just gonna plug it into my extra to my Magma Intent in the truck and put it down inside my console or something and forget about it. It is because it has the GPS included, which is nice, which is really nice. You can that's another thing you can do too, is you
can just buy these GPS modules of Amazon as well. And there's a really easy it's four wires that you connect between the hell Tech proto board on these gpio connections and it goes directly into the GPS and it's it's simple. It's dead simple. It's all very easy. And then, as Jason said, flashing it is literally go to the website, plug it into your computer, point to the right serial adapter, it flashes it. It's super easy. Yeah, yeah, it's it's very simple, very simp again. My uh
yeah. I watched Lewis's Lewis Ringway, Ringway, Manchester. He's got one about how to flat I think he even calls it like getting started with Meshtastic or Idiot's Guide to Meshtat or something like that. Yeah, and it and he goes to It's like a ten minute video and he goes through how to flat. I just did That's all I did. I did that and that's what I do on my video coming up on Monday. So I did it with the hell tech and with the T beam and it was It's very it's
very simple. So the point the point in me bringing that up is that Evan U several months ago wanted to set up a repeater at the RV camp side. So we're gonna set that up at Dayton when we get there next
week. So it's going to be up on the Gigabarts mast behind. And then for everybody that's gonna be at hand Vention and you want to join our channels, you just take your Mestastic app and you click on the channels and you just screenshot that QR code and it will it will load all the channels, it'll set it up for you and then you can just start chatting with us. That's it. It's very simple. It's really easy. Yep,
yeah, it is. I'm going to be running the default channel on one of mine because I suspect there'll be people who haven't watched our channels that might just be trying it. We were at a very small regional handfest last month and like and one of the guys there was using it and he was seeing eight or ten other people just that little show. This includes the default mike QR code includes the default channel and uh one that's just to talk to YouTube
people. Okay, So it has both. Okay, generally just for everybody that's getting into mestastic. When you started up for the first time, you'll have a channel called zero and that you already mentioned. It's long fast or long fast. Yeah, it's called So you want to always leave that at channel zero because that is what allows the meshing and the repeating of signals.
So even if you don't want to talk to people, you still want to leave channel zero there so that you help by bridging mesh connections to other people. You could have an encrypted channel it's on one, two, three, whatever, and you do all your talking there, but you still want zero to help flesh out the mesh. Josh, Josh, you said encrypted. We can't do encryption amateur radio. How is that handled? Because this is an amateur radio, it's radio. It's nine hundred and fifteen MEGAL licensed two
hundred and fifty six AES encryption. Yep, I would co hosted, So you got to ask the dumb question. No, no, it's a good question. Yeah. No, that nine hundred and fifteen's is a SHIRE. It is an amateur radio band, but we share it with the commercial IP something something whatever it's called. It's uh, it's yeah. Encryption is completely legal on that band. So it doesn't matter if your HAM or not, because we're not on the HAM radio frequency. Yep, not on him radio.
You know, can you put a repeater at fourteen thousand feet for one of those? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, In fact, yes you're joking, Carlos, but yes you can. And let me tell you how. How I know this because I did a balloon launch. Well I didn't do the I recorded a balloon launch and they had a Laura meshtastic and an APRS beacon on that balloon launch and it went up to ninety five thousand feet, So yes, yes, they had no, they had a freaking DMR repeater
on that balloon. And this may not make sense to you, but I'm I'm in Dallas Fort Worth area and Houston is about five hours south of me. We were talking, we were talking through that simplex repeater on that balloon to stations in Houston. So I were talking from Dallas to Houston on DMR Simplex repeating on the balloon. It was freaking awesome. And it's all on a video on my channel. So yes, you can absolutely do that jumping
out of a plane. You can totally do that, right, Yeah, he's like, hell as a as an aside for all of this Monday or Tuesday, I'll drop a video on how to set all this up with with anybody that's interested, because I've got this guy as well. This is new to me. This is a meshtastic messenger device. I saw that the other day and I'm like, I'm like, yeah, I'm like, I don't know if I want to get into that yet. I'll probably know with one that's better than the T deck. The battery it way better. Way.
Yeah, it's because that screen, that screen sucks the battery dry. You can't turn the screen off and let it run in the background, like I don't think so, No, I've been able to figure out how to do it now. All right, Well, I know that I know that Bill Bill had the T deck at more Expo, and I know he was charging it quite a bit, so maybe that's why. Yeah, all right, okay, well good, Like I said, my my video is gonna drop
on Monday. I recorded it last week, but I'm going to and I talk about Hey, if you have one of these, bring it to him mentioned. So that's the reason I bring it up tonight. So I m band Thank you, Dan, That's what That's the term I was looking for right there. You know, you are tempting me to buy one of these things because you know otherwise I have zero use for this thing. There's nobody in the stuff in my area. Yeah, dude, if you jump out, if you jump yeah, if you jump out of a plane with that,
I guarantee you will get some signal somewhere. What's kind of interesting about the whole thing is it was never really created to be a radio, like a like a ham radio thing where we reach out and just try and contact with randos. It was always supposed to be designed for you to create your own private network that you then talk with people that you you've included in it. So the fact that we're d xing with mesh tastic really cracks me up.
And of course you give a bunch of hands like that, how far can we get this Yeah yeah, yeah, there you put a yaggy on this, then we make a yaggy yeah right, yeah yeah, freaking freaking a little hurts yaggy on that thing. That's what's what Lewis did. He was talking about. He's like he was like he put one in his attic and he's like pointing it in his attic from from his house to the next
station on the device. Yeah, then de bait him because I live in between Indianapolis and Bloomington, and I was going to act and put up like a relay station where I'd have a yaggy pointing towards Indianapolis and one pointing towards Bloomington and have it, you know, sure, just that reason to expand the network. Sure, yeah, Well apparently there's a pretty good network according to Andy Kirby and Lewis, there's a pretty good network over in the UK
already. So I'm I I drove around with mine last week and I didn't really pick up anything. So but more more research and testing is warranted, for sure. But I think at a show like cam Vention, because because it was so popular at Builton and at the more Expo, Bill was walking by and he talked to two or three different people. He's like, hey, you're on Meshtastic. So I think at a show like camventioned with so many people there, I I kind of hope we're gonna we're gonna see a
lot of activity, but we'll see it will be an interesting experiment. I'm just curious to see what happens. Are you bringing? Are you bringing hardline to connect the antenna to that little Yeah, it's two in chili. Acts is lost. Yeah, I've got no. I don't know. I don't know what. I don't know what. I don't know what Evans repeater looks like. But I think it's just a device with a nintenna attached to it that he's gonna mount high up on the pole with its own battery. Oh
it looks like this. I'll show you what it looks like. Okay, but you don't have in your and then like going up to Okay, so it's a solar power. This is another unit that I have. Uh, this is a really Amazon It's like for one hundred and fifty bucks. This is a rack board, a rack wireless. I've seen the rack boards. Okay, those are really good because they're really power. They're they're really power of it. That's what I need. I need to put that up at
my house. Then, is that we josh, yeah, yeah, it's sealed, it's a waterproof, it's a steal box. The only problem you have with these guys is you need to pull it down to reflash it sometimes, which is that's the only downside if you need to do that, Like if if you keep incrementally updating the firmware on the devices you have control of, eventually they're going to be too far out of spect from each other and they won't communicate, so you have to go up there and reflash it.
That's one good thing about Arden. You can flash nodes that your node is connected to. You can click on a node and click on a node and go two or three four hops away and say, oh that needs an update, and flash a node that's four hops away through the mesh. You can do that with Arden. I guess you can't do that with these I think they're trying to get to that point. They had it over the air update a while ago, but I think they had some pretty big updates just recently,
so they were like, ah, you got to catch up. And then then it'll come back to it. At least it's the idea hopefully. But I'll have uh, I'll have extra three D prints for some of the cases. I won't have batteries though, So if you need batteries, go buy those off of Amazon. I'm I'm guessing somewhere at Hamvension you can probably buy eighteen six fifty batteries. I bet it won't be hard to find. Yeah, I won't. I won't. I'm not printing that, but they
have that case. That's the other thing is that the three D printer space is absolutely exploded with this kind of stuff. So if you bring up like printables, let's see, yeah, it's on printables dot com. I think, Josh, can you in the chat, can you post the link to the met the the device that you have the print for and the battery. Uh yeah, so now I get to play the the Oldfi Yeah yeah,
yeah. No, So let's see, I'll take the I'll get the V three and then the battery just so you guys can get the right one. I put the V three in the chat already. Oh okay, okay, earlier, but I'll buy one, print the case, and then maybe on Wednesday, night, we can flash it or something. You'll you'll have it done in three minutes. It's it's super easy. It's yeah, yeah, it's very easy. Kyle has more money than time, so it's very true. That's the case. I had sent you those files a while back,
Kyle and asked you to print me one of those. Yeah. Yeah, I'll just print my own now. Yeah, yeah, exactly. So yeah, it should be it should be, should be fine. I'm looking forward to seeing this. I'm seeing what happens to it. Well, what's cool is we'll be able to run like pretty much all day with most of these, and I know mine will have GPS, so that's gonna be fun. Uh the T beam has GPS, does it not? The T beam is GPS. That's right, Yeah, that's the one I'll be run. Well,
that's the one I'll be running in the truck. Does somebody have a print for the T bean. Yeah's the one. That's what Josh has right there. Okay, so let me let me grab the other one. So yeah, there's I'll drop all the three D prints that you that you need to Okay, so the first link is going to be the batterizes. All right, there's the batteries and then let me go to the web here and
I'll bring up printables. So this is the hell Tech V three is probably the easiest one to make because it's it's so small and I've been doing this this case, which is it's just a it's pretty tacticol looking. So that's the one. And the cool thing about that is there's like literally a billion options for it, different look and feel. Bass plates that have switches for power on, power off, GPS, power on, power off. They also have a battery back that will take eighteen six fifties. This is the
eighteen six fifty battery back. So I'll hey, the Josh, the case you're printing for me, take this these batteries you just linked. Yeah they should fit. Okay, Okay, I'm looking through Amazon or device as a in stock b available before I leave on Wednesday, b eighteen. It taks eighteen six fifties and the it has the antenna on the on the top you know or the narrow side. Look at the look at the t beam available.
Yeah. I bought mine from lily Go. So I don't even know if you can get those Anmazon. Should I print a case for one of the ones that you're gonna let me use. Yeah, and which sure the link I just dropped in the chat. If you go through it, you probably want the ones that don't have any power switches because you're just gonna run the bear hell Tech with the battery and and then whatever model you want. So you need the face plate the center with everything kind of mounts to the
center, and then the back plate is for the battery. But take a look at this case. Look how cool that case is. It's just a tiny little thing. And it's like there's so was all for the same board. Uh huh, they're all for the hell Tech detory. Yeah, so look at it. Look at that with the little SMA connection on the side. Then there's the Helltech in place with the battery and the battery. So that's not the t beam, that's something different. That's the hell Tech v
the hell Tech. That's the one that recommend Yeah, that's the one that Carlos was linking earlier. That Carlos linked in the zoom chat. Oh oh, the second that's the that's the Princibles link you just dropped, Josh, uh that this is a different case. But the case I dropped is yes, the principles one, that's the one I recommend you go with. Well, I like that one. Uh so the only downside with this me let me show you the downside. So all of you Hamm radio operators will probably
figure this out. Let me find a good picture of it. So the lanyard hole is on the lower right hand side, so if you put it around your neck or hang it, the intent is going to be upside down. So as long as it's vertical, it's still it's okay. So you see that, do you see the landing hole there? And then yeah? That was it perfect? Yeah? Yeah, So the cool thing with the other one I dropped. Let me go back to it. So the antenna mounts on the top, and so if you wanted to put a better antenna
like they have here, that's simple. It's you know, you can swap the intent out. You can go with the little ones like that or the you lay it on its side and the the antennas I showed earlier, will ninety degree bend, which is cool. Yeah, that's the GPS wiring. That's so simple. This is like easy easy, but yeah, you can see it's all just cool. Do you have do you have a case printed for the T Beam. I don't. I have like three T beams. I should probably put them in cases. The problem I had with the T
Beam is the batteries the eighteen six fifties. I was always swapping them ount or I had him on chargers all the time, and I just got tired of taking it out of the case because the case I had, and I was like, I'm just gonna I'm gonna wave for a little while and just let them be. You're gonna need other parts though, because like, how does the so this says that it takes in eighteen six fifty No? You no? Do you use the link that I dropped to the batteries the thirty
three hundred million hours? Well, Jason, do you do you have these batteries? Do I? I don't have to need to do anything. I don't have the battery. I just ordered the batteries from the link Josh shared. I do not have batteries for the eighteen for the hell Tech. The Helltech will run on USBC. So if you have it that mic, that battery brick you have, I'm not carrying that around, but it'll run for that if you want to. So, but the only way to use the
the battery that Josh dropped is to get a three D printed case. The case is that I have don't hold a battery. So so that's what I'm So, if you print a case for these mic and order a battery, then you can have one of my motems and then you'll be good to go. Right, But I would rather use that LiPo cellan the than the eighteen six fifty. That's the link. I thought, that's that's that's the one
I'm talking about. Well, different link then the three thousand million emp hour little flat the little fat battery three thousand I'm looking at them, I'm looking at I'm looking at the case, the three D printed thing this, yeah, so you no, there's also there's multiple options for batteries on this case. So if you if you scroll down to files right so down towards the
bottom, see how there's a there's a really big one. The big one is for eighteen six fifties, right, so you'd put an eighteen six fifty in here, but no, we're not going to do that. You're going to go with the seven millimeter would be fine. Where's the seven millimeter? Yeah, so one of these seven millimeters would be fine. So you just slap the battery underneath the seven millimeter one and it just lives in there. That's all you do. Yeah, there's too many files for my brain to
wrap my head around. Which okay, I have extra I have extra shells that I'll be bringing, so you guys can can color coordinate however you'd like. Which printer should I be buying to print? Yeah? See, this is how it gets expensive, right, yeah, right right, Just text me the specific file that I need. There's too many. You know how dumb I am with computers. Okay, Mike, print me, print me a file, print me a case as well well that I want to.
I want to give a disclaimer here. My three D printer is not printing very well right now. I don't know what is, so it's probably gonna be trouble and I'm gonna end up with nothing. So whatever Josh is printing is going to be one hundred billion times better than anything. I'll be. Well, he's printing, he's printing one for me. But I have four of these things. So that's why I'm If someone wants to, I think I just need to replace the nozzle because I've been I've like my bed should
be level but it's like it's not doing well. Yeah, So the the only printer I recommend right now is the Bamboos. That is well, I got one of them. More so that's what I'm doing with. I know people hate when I recommend it because it basically ships your stuff to China, but I don't care. I never have to mess with it. It's just
nah, that's what you have, is one of the Bamboos. Yeah, I love or just a single no and I and I'm kind of pissed that I didn't get the four color caddy at this point because so this thing is seven hundred bucks, which is insane. That's like you're thinking that's really expensive. No, no, that's cheap for a four filament caddy and an enclosed printer. And it does auto leveling, it does everything. This thing is
as turnkey as you could possibly get. It is just awesome. Oh no, if you don't if you don't want the fore color, it's seven hundred. But if you do want the four color, it's nine to forty nine. So okay, that's that's a little more expensive, but yeah, it's it's but but it requires an Internet connection and ships all your data into China. Right, So if you're if you're planning on you might Yeah, if you're planning on print printing, glock lowers don't buy that way? Why internet
connection? Is it just a good question for question? It has remote admin control, so you can use the phone app to to remote into the printer and you can start pressing the price. Is it just a one time fee? You what? What is it? No? Fie? I mean there's no monthly. You just pay the thing and you're done. So if you didn't want to go with that, the bamboo, what would be another? Uh? The what's the one that's been around forever? That? Yes, the PRUSA? The PRUSA what are they? Mark four? Now, yeah,
there's several of them, but I have a Mark three. Pruss are are pretty rock solid, okay, I think. So it's looking at the files. You've got a front, a something in a bat This is all new to me, you guys. Yeah, yeah, So it's it's you need a top cover the middle part that the but I'm using I'm using them that they are in the files. So you've got front and then it looks
like they have like you get one with circles or hexagons or dots. So a front right, that's just looking for a frame, which maybe you're calling the middle the frame and the frames a better word. Well that's what that's how it's labeled in the file. And then a back. So I see a back for an eighteen six fifty or a back with that's like five millimeters seven millimeter, yeah, so you a seven millimeter is fine. Seven millimeters back. And when you print the frame, that's just the depth. The
depth, oh, the depth. So the frame you only need a print one. That's just no switches. You want no power switches. You just need the single SMA connection. That's it. No switches because you're not I mean unless the SMA connections on a on a mew fl. Uh. I mean they have a hole for SMA. That's what the print does. Okay, Well, I'm just like, I'm looking at stuff that's available to get
here before I leave, and none of it has SMA. So you have to get either the little pig till that's built in, or you can get something with them with a UFL that goes to anything, and then you can go to the UFL to SMA. Sure, I got the uh, I got the ip X SMA jumpers for mine. So I have I have a bag of those. It's like five of them in a bag something like that. So I've got multiple options, but I'm gonna bring I'm gonna bring the whole box of what I've got to him mentioned and see what we so what
kind of trouble we can cause with it? So I want, let's just go down this rabbit hole. Okay, here's a front, okay, whatever, but that's not where the SMA goes, right, So just the front
with the screen. The SMA goes in the frame. There's ale which is the Okay, okay, all right, I'll look through that and yeah, so you just you get the frame with no switches, just the SMA, and then you to just pick a front and a back and then you need to print two buttons, and I recommend you go with the medium hype buttons. All right, I think I'm frankled this one. How about them ham
radios? We just carried to each other. I was like, man, we went down a rabbit hole something that everyone did you guys, did you guys decide on did you guys just side on a different frequency? Simple frequency? In Josh's video, he did, Oh, well, that was a past one, the one you just posted today, the whole, but the frequencies that were set to it was that was from the past. That was a radio that I had from last year's hamvention. So whatever you guys do,
just I don't care. I'll just well, you said in the video where we used one four six five eight for all the YouTubers cam radio convention stuff, we use one four eight. We used one four six four five at Huntsville last year. So what are we using it on him? I don't know. I don't know. Six top four eight four six times. That's what we used in Ham. Cash there you got. I thought that's
what we usually used. I have. The only reason I know it was six top four five is because I still have it programmed in my FtM six thousand. But take a vote, six top four eight is fine. I don't care. I don't care. I just don't want to know what to tell everybody. I've had a few people emails. I told them one for six four eight said okay, let's let's use that. Yeah, right,
let's use one forty forty eight. That's fine, all right. You guys don't pass around with female I sees two thirteen, fill it out and distributed everybody saying, I thought there is. Oh, I don't know what the hell you're talking about. Yeah, definitely, we definitely do that. I feel fourteen and and I had I create my own band plans and uh frequency uses charts when I go out or when I used to go out. I've got spare duty two fourteens. If someone wants to buy one. I got
about the PDF file. I pritty it about for all the teams. Oh my god. Eight Yeah, James James quirky QRP. James says, I'd add the YouTuber samd Fest frequency to my chart if it didn't change every five minutes. Yeah, exactly. It actually changes every Hamfest change, not every five minutes. But bro, do you even know the ham Turbers? Do you even know the Hamtobers simplex frequency? We don't. Yeah, we don't either. We don't know. We don't know what it is either yeah this
time or yeah. I bring a radio and an mention every year and use it zero times. Yeah, I know, right, are we gonna get through? I use mine? I used mine. Oh my god, that wild net in Orlando was ridiculous. We're not we're not gonna talk about nets. We're not gonna talk about but talk about talked about neshtag for Instagram and all that crap. Ham mention twenty twenty four, I think is what would normally use. Yeah, ham mention twenty twenty four. I'm going to buck
the trend and I'm gonna go with twenty twenty five. I think, yeah, I'll be I'm going to use that. I plan on use that one next year. Was just ahead of the Yeah, yeah, that's it. That's what it is. Yeah, achieving. I'm a half a bottle of whiskey down. I don't know what you all have been drinking. I think I think we're almost two hours in. I think we're gonna shut it down. I'm dying. Yeah yeah, yeah, the rails a while ago, so oh yeah, a while ago. Yeah, this is a happy hour.
It's not always about him reading. That's great. But so you're saying it's like, you know, clubhouse got it? Yeah yeah, yeah, something like that, but better. Yeah. So, well you inspired me this summer. H oh there you go. Oh nice, You're gonna do the work challenge yep, yep ye little android tablet to run that program. That's really sweet that ft an mm hmm. Yeah, Adam Adam was the first one out of the shoot with a successful uh one pound PoTA challenge activation,
which is he did a really good job. That was just But I mean, how cool is it? Honestly, guys, how cool is it that you can have a one pound bag of radio gear, battery, radio antenna, all the accoutrement and you can do single sideband CW and digital and you can activate a PODA with it that you can do single sideman from that, I'm impressed. It does ridiculous. Not only can you do single sidemand
with it, it has an internal microphone and a speaker. I think I would trade that and go a little bit heavier in weight and use the FX fur CR rather than that thing. Sure, no question, But that was I said it to one pound. So when the max when it it's next to a single side band, we'll be able to use that. You know, there'll be more radios that come out. Sure, Sure, it's still a cool challenge. Yeah, I still haven't built my c mix from last
year. I have haven't either. Well, I thought he would have had it. I thought he would have had it updated to do Sideman by now, because that's what they were toting last year, but they haven't done that update yet. I was talking to Mike and eight yo and he said, you got the same kid as I did. I'm like, yeah, he goes, it's missing parts. I'm like, oh wow, that's a I guarantee he will be at That guy whatever his name is, will be at Four Days and again huns. Yeah. Yeah, he'll be at Four Days
and May again with some other kind of trinket this year. He has been for the last three years, so always. Yeah. It's every time I bump into somebody with the QMX, they're like, oh, you build yours yet. I'm like, no, I haven't. He's like, that's probably good. The last couple of firmwars have been kind of broken and I'm like, oh, okay, justified it being lazy. I guess the firmer has been getting better and better and better. Yeah. I know good. No,
all right, guys, we're gonna we're gonna close this down. Thank you for joining me tonight. It's gonna be a great show next weekend, as it always is. We'll be there on probably late Tuesday night, so anybody who's there Wednesday around noontime local. Uh, come come up to the r V spot and join me on the live stream stream. We get in around noon, so we'll hit the campsite around one. I'll wait to I'll wait till one. I think I did it one last year. Anyway,
I think I did it at one. Yeah. Yeah, Now remember that's eastern that's Eastern time. One Eastern time is noon Texas time. Actually, yeah, I did do it at one. I did do it at one last year. So I'll wait. I'll do it one o'clock Eastern time. That's fine. So yeah, So anybody who's there, come by the camp site, join me on the live stream. We're gonna just probably hang at the r V the all day, hopefully the weather's nice. Smoke a bunch of cigars, that kind of thing. Oh yeah, and then and then
we're just gonna have it. And then I'm gonna do four days in May stuff on Thursday. So help us get out, Jason. I think I'm gonna give you a lighter or two of mine that you can help bring. Sure, Yeah, that's fine. Oh something I was gonna mention earlier and I forgot. If you are driving, bring a chair, or three. Yes, help us. I am I I have I now have five chairs in my r V camp and my that I keep in my RV. So if if you are driving, or you if you want to pack a chair
and check it on a plane, bring a chair. We cannot have too many chairs, it's not possible. So bring a chair if you can, and bring an extra chair so that someone who can't bring a chair will have a chair. So I said that last year and it worked out fine last year. So yeah, go ahead. We're throwing some super chats. And Walmart's got chairs for like eight ninety nine right now for for adult chairs that you could just throw in the RV. And and I think I've got enough
crap in my RV right now. I don't need to I don't need to add anything else. So those of you, those of you who are driving in a hand vension, stop at Walmart and get a couple of cheap ass chairs and bring them your cheer home. Take your chair. Yeah yeah, I don't leave it there because Jason Jason chairs. Yeah yeah yeah, but bring a chair, bring a chair. So that's the thing, all right, guys, thank you for joining me tonight. Fun stream as always.
It's going to be a rocking next weekend, next weekend, and uh looking quite forward to it. So uh, bring your mesh tastic, bring your Ham Radio two, because we are all about Ham Radio one eight.
