Hey, Before we get started, be sure to head over to Hamradio two dot com forward slash email dash sign up to join my email list of over nineteen thousand subscribers, where I like to send emails about upcoming events, upcoming shopping deals, keep you updated with all the stuff going on with my videos. Once that list reaches twenty thousand, I will be doing a giveaway of another HF radio sign up today and thank you for the support. Here we
go mute that, and I'm gonna go transition over there right there. Hey,
guys, good afternoon. It is well good noon. That's twelve o'clock, twelve o'clock straight up in central Texas, and we're gonna do this today because I didn't get to go down south to where Mike and Ryan and Frank and Vern and several other people apparently are and I hear it's cloud I don't know if it's cloudy down I haven't talked to those guys this morning, but it was forecast to be cloudy down there, and it's forecasted to be cloudy
here, and it is somewhat cloudy here. I'm gonna show you guys the zoom screen and that's the camera that I currently have at pointed at the sun, zoom in on that just a touch there, so you could see the clouds. I could see the sun pretty good a second ago, but not at the current point in time. But though you see, those clouds are moving through there pretty quickly, and so hopefully we'll get a chance to actually look and see what the eclipse looks like. My information says the totality should
start about one thirty, about an hour and a half from now. But I read yesterday that you're gonna kind of start to see a little bit of moon kind of start and creep in somewhere around like twelve thirty five, so about thirty five minutes from now, So it's gonna the totality is gonna last four minutes, but you're gonna see the moon kind of move in and move out on either side of that. I don't know how long all that's gonna
take. I guess maybe like an hour total something like that. So it'll be just it'll be cool to see what we can see and what the clouds allow us to see and what happens that way. So anyway, that's where we're at today. Uh, let's see, I'm gonna bring in Scott over here. He joined me on zoom. They unpinned this one, and uh, let's fix that. Well, I'm just gonna do this right here. I think. What's up, dude? How are you doing? Pretty good? Man? Everybody? How about yourself? Oh I'm hanging in there.
Yeah. Just one of the maps I saw today of the eclipse and the weather between Texas and Maine. Yeah, Texas is getting the worst of the cloud coverage. Oh yeah, up about Missouri. Now. It's funny, is my parents live up in Maine, and if you've ever been to Maine, clouds just come upon you, like instantaneously, and it's just yeah, time up there today. We've got the best weather for it. Well, there you go. I'm just twenty miles off off kilter, right right right,
totally totally. Well, I guess we'll see what we see. Yeah, it's too bad. That too bad there's clouds out there for a day like today. But I guess you know, you's got to roll with the punches. Man. There's another smaller eclipse coming in September, isn't there. I believe. I believe that's correct. I believe. So there's a I don't know if it's a yeah, it's not a totality. And there's another
eclipse. I think it's an almost total eclipse coming in like twenty forty five, like twenty years from now, but I don't think it comes through this area. So it's it's kind of like how much of the eclipse is going to happen, Where is it going to happen, that kind of thing. So it's it's one of those situations where you don't you don't really know until I mean, you can go look it up. I guess, but I
don't have it memorized. Yeah, correct me if I'm wrong. But I think they said that what's happening today, we in America won't see you from No. Two and forty four years something like something something like that. Yeah, yeah, something like that. That's that's I believe that's true. Yeah. So guys in the chat, uh, do you think eighty one sixty
meters will open up? I think that is the uh, the guess or the educated, the very educated guess is that eighty and one sixty will open up at some point when the moon starts to move in place and block out the sun. So I don't know if the d layer will completely disappear or not be in that maybe it'll disappear for about four minutes. I don't know.
But the D layer, the D layer of the ionosphere disappears at night and the F one and F two layer combine, I think, and then during the day you have a D layer and E layer and F one and F two. So so I don't know how much of that will happen for four minutes. And I don't know if that's dependent on how the sun where the sun is as compared to because the Sun's not moving, the Moon's just going to move in front of it, and that's what caused the eclipse.
So I don't know. We're gonna see what we see. I guess yeah. FT eight was forty meter. FT eight, which I pulled up earlier, was pretty quiet here as well. I took a look at eighty. I didn't see anything at all. Ten meters was pretty quiet at about nine am this morning, which kind of surprised me. Twenty meters was up. There was a little bit on seventeen and fifteen, and then ten meters opened
up maybe an hour and a half ago something like that. So I kind of thought that the bands would be up a little bit more by now, but we'll see, we'll see. I am, let's see. I think let's switch over here. I know you guys can it's probably small in the screen, but I'm calling CQ SEQP on ten meters right now and we'll see how well that does or doesn't work out. So don't know. But yeah, we're just kind of hanging here and doing whatever. And you know,
no really not really scheduled plans or anything like that. We're just gonna We're just gonna hang out and kind of watch and see how this thing goes. So I appreciate you guys hanging with me. Some of you probably don't have the clips, didn't even coming through your area, so I wanted to do this for you guys more than anything. So there we go. Scott,
you said it was totally cloud covered down there. Yeah, we got really bad cloud cover expecting rain today, tomorrow and Wednesday, so it's gonna be pretty much a wash for us here unless some something comes to and burns out the clouds for us. Okay, well that's too bad, I guess, but it is what it is. Yeah, I saw a really funny meme today. It's been kind of going around the Facebook groups out there. Okay,
you know they always have mark safe from blah blah blah. Yes, well today was mark mark safe from the eclipse being anything more than an astronomical event. Okay, astronomical event. Huh that's funny. I guess we'll that's good. Yeah, that's good. I like that one. Okay, Uh, let's see are you in now? That's okay? So that view right there, I'm gonna have to add you to. Uh there's no desktop audio in that view right there, so I'll have to bring that audio in so
you can talk to me while I'm doing FT eight. There you go. But uh yeah, so okay, so you can kind of see how the uh the sun has moved out or I'm sorry, the clouds have moved out, so you can kind of see the sun right there, and uh then the shot there next to Scott. So I'm gonna have to go outside at some point and adjust that because I don't uh, I don't have I don't have it on like a like a it's not a it's not a follow thing.
I don't have it on like an asthmuth follow thing. So now are we looking at the ridge line of your rooftop in this shot, that's the ridge line of the ham shack. Ok So, yes, so yeah, yeah, towards the pop of the picture, you can be moving towards your towards towards the right if you're looking at it towards the right of the picture. Okay. So, because my backyard face is pretty much due south, so it's moving to the west right now, which is to the right.
If you're looking at it straight on, it's to the right. So it in the zoom, it's moving closer to you, Scott, Okay, gotcha. Yeah. So it'll continue to go that way, which is that way right there. As I'm looking at it, it's that way, So it'll continue to go that way as the day goes on. So we'll see what happens with that. Yeah, I just want to make sure don't go back behind your ridge line right at the point of interest. No, No,
it's it's moved. Yeah. Yeah. I tried two or three spots about to try to get it get the camera set up on two or three spots, and I thought, you know, this one will cause there I originally set it up in the on the side of my patio and I had it looking and I'm but it was getting the edge of my patio on the right hand side of the screen, and I'm like, by the time noon or maybe twelve thirty or one o'clock gets here, that's going to behind the patio
scene there, so that this way it kind of the sun will kind of follow the path of the of the line of the hamshack there. Nice, you're running any special antennas for this thing or Nope, just just regular old, regular old, not doing anything special at all. I just they just wanted, uh, for the as far as the HAMSAI guys, the SEQ Party, se seq P, Solar Eclips, QUSO Party, they just wanted people to get on the air and you know, send signals into the atmosphere
so they can monitor it with their monitoring tools. That was my original plan. I wanted to go out someplace, you know, if we're gonna have a little more visual out there and at set up you know, eighty meters and other other types of antennas, just to give it a test and see
what happens. Yeah, yeah, worse with only with only four minutes of playtime and got to talk quick well see yeah true, And I wonder I wonder how much, you know, because you're gonna have a certain amount of time to where it you're gonna be able to see the moon in front of the Sun before it's in there completely, right, So I wan wonder how much of that time on the on the one side of the Sun and the
other side of the Sun will actually affect all the solar signals. And that's what they're that's what they're That's one thing they're monitoring is like how much is this going to be affected? How long before totality and how long after totality are are we seeing a noticeable difference in in you know, just atmospheric propagation in that way. So well, I hope somebody is actually doing experimentation with this opportunity today and going to get some data on that acuit. They would
be very helpful and informative. Absolutely, yeah, absolutely. Uh A meritron is warming up, Gregory says, there you go, get that get that am formed up, buddy. Hey Ron, Okay, So Ron says, three hundred and ninety dollars, and I know what you're talking about there. I have that pulled up over here. So we had on my live stream
last night. Let me get that right, the right screen up. On my live stream last night, we had talked about auctioning off an antenna, one of the real poda able antennas, and all the proceeds that for this intenna go to Jim W six LG. So it's one of the things we're doing to support him. It is up to three hundred and ninety dollars at eighteen bids. I saw it this morning. It was at like sixteen bids, so it's had like only like two bids today. And you can buy
one of these antennas on their websit. I'm gonna have to pull up that website. Run. I don't remember what y'all's website is. You can buy one of these intennas for a lot less than that. So if you just want the intenna, go out there and grab one. I have one. I like it. It works very well. But again, these proceeds are going to support Jim W SIXLG. So when this auction ends about six days from now, all the money that is, whatever it ends at, that's
the money that'll go to gym to help with his medical expenses. Again, we also have a I say we this was set up by someone else not me. This is a PayPal link that is set up to donate straight to Jim ten dollars, fifteen dollars, whatever you want to donate. If you want to donate a large amount, that's certainly fine as well. Is that the link from his YouTube channel? I believe so someone sent this to me. I think this was the link that Callum was talking about, So I
think it. This is the link from his YouTube channel. Yes, I believe it's all just one thing. This is not something I set up. So yeah, hopefully that's uh, hopefully that works out well and we were able to get him some extra cash to help him through this hard time. Yeah, I wanted to make mention. I talked about this, I shot, I premiered a video about an hour ago talking about this very topic.
And one of the things I stated there, you know, back last year and I had my accident, you set up a GoFundMe, and you know the handbry too community came out of the woodwork to help. Yes, And I pointed out the fact that not only was I not only was I so appreciative of that, but it was interesting that people who never met me just saw me on YouTube, saw me as a YouTuber made more donations than people I knew as my personal friends. I thought that was interesting. Well,
yeah, this community takes care of each other. Absolutely, yep, agreed, agreed. Well that's great, that's great to hear. I'm glad that you had that experience and uh are able to share that with us. So yeah, I want to forward for Jim absolutely. Yeah. Yeah, I try to try to do that. I got after I did, I did
that for you and one other one or two other guys and uh. And sometimes I'll get emails from people that I just I don't recognize, and I'm like, you know, I'd love to do that for everybody, but you don't want to. You don't want to take advantage and have a different giveaway or donation every week. Some people I don't know, And let's face it, there are scammers in the world, so I don't know if sometimes people are just kind of full of it and trying to get scam some money.
So I try to limit it to people I know I've met. I've never met Jim face to face. I have worked him on Poda. I was working Poda one time from Galveston and he reached out to me of course I know who he is through his YouTube channel. But but you know, he's a member of the community that that most people know and and it's it's been around for a while, been around for a while. Yeah, so I
feel pretty good. Yeah. He actually commented on a couple of my videos in the past when I first started my channel and offered to be like an elmer to me and stuff like that, and I just I hadn't didn't get a wrap back around to him. It was too involved with trying to learn all this stuff. And but yeah, he's a good guy. I mean I watched his videos and you know, you know stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. So yeah, you guy. You guys help
out there if you can. But Rich is going to try to operate forty from the mobile. That's good. Okay, let's see good from there. Okay, let's go back over here and see if I made any contacts. Nope, no contacts yet. Well I made one contact a minute ago, okay, calling CQ Solar Clips QUSO Party on ten meter ft eight And you can see the sun next to Scott over there, and that's where it is right now as far as cloud cover goes. So looks like the clouds of
shifted direction. Yeah, yeah, that direction. That big bright spot in front of the in the camera, that's the sun o case she didn't figure that out on your own, Well, it's not an led ring light. No, no, not an led ring light. Although good idea. So we're gonna hang out here for a while, guys, and I hope that you'll hang with us, and if anybody has any questions or wants to join us or you know, feel free to uh just put a message into the
chat and we'll see what we're uh see what's going on there. So, okay, we had talked about the real potable a bull antenna a minute ago. This is their website and I will share this link here. Boom, uh you can get you picked this intent up for about one hundred and twenty dollars. So the so the eBay auctions almost three times that twenty four is actually it is three times that right now, a little bit over three times that. So again, this is for a ch charitable donation to Jim W
six LG. You know, I think it's absolutely fantastic and innovative that somebody took a chalk line into Yeah. Yeah, and that a great idea I would have I would have not thought about that, but uh, apparently it's been done before. Though they're not the first ones to do it, but I think they're the first ones to actually market it. I saw a couple of YouTube videos where guys were just built one for themselves, and I'm like, that's that's actually a good idea. But yeah, yeah, very click.
I was I was going to try to reverse engineer one for myself. So I was like, nascrew it. Somebody's already done us buy one if I want one, right, yeah, yeah, totally totally. So all right, let's go over here. Oh, somebody sent me a h A F seven J sent me a message through grid tracker. Hey, what's up watching on YouTube? Hello? Hey, how are you? Thank you very much for being here. Okay, so let's switch that over and I'm gonna add Scott. You're muted for the moment. Let me add you where is?
Where did that go? There? It is? Hold on you up capture. Okay, all right, you're back in there so they can They can't see you at the moment, but they can at least hear you now. Because I didn't have the I didn't have the desktop audio added there. So I just worked a case one LBR. It looks like what's that there? And you can see if you look at grid tracker right here, you can see where the moon is. I pulled that up earlier. I thought, oh, I'm gonna be able see where the freaking moon is on grid
tracker. So even better, So we're gonna watch the moon right there, top left corner of the screen there above me is grid Tracker. That's the uh that's the map that is built into grid Tracker, with this information down the right side, with the black bar behind it. This right here, this this station list right here is also part of grid Tracker. And and that you can see right there that's AF seven J send me a message through
grid Tracker. There's a messaging service built into it. So that's all grit. Every time I pull this up on a live stream somewhere, somebody says, hey, what is that program that you're running in the background. That's grid Tracker, is what that is. We've done live streams with those guys on the channel, but it was several versions ago. So I've invited them back on into the channel. We're trying to trying to get them back on
into the channel. Talk to us more about grid Tracker soon. Yeah, grid track is really awesome, but there's so many features apparently, and including this one you got here with all these uh your top right window there out. I don't know how to you just set that up or how to activate that. I gotta sit at some point in time and really just play with grid Tracker more and just figure out all the different feature offers that. All of these buttons over here kind of like where my mouse is right now,
all of these buttons activate a different feature. And this, uh, this what it's called a hall router here is one of these buttons of I don't remember which when it is. But once you once you shut grid Tracker down then launch it again, everything pops back up that you had before. So I've had this running for a couple of years. I don't remember which button it is. But this tells you where everybody is, like, it tells
you the call sign on the left column who they are current. Who this call sign on the left is currently calling is in this column right here.
It's like this guy right here in France is calling c Q K one g u y is calling CQ for Z one T K that's a that's a Israeli call sign is calling CQ, and then it says what grid they're in here, and then it says what they're dxcc ENTD is here, so you and see what they're If you see a call sign you don't recognize because you don't have everything memorize, you're like, where are they, it'll tell you right there where they are. And I worked that when I first fired up FT
eight this morning about an hour almost two hours ago. Now, the first station I saw was an Israeli station four Z one U T or something like that, I think, And I went back to him and he came right back to me. I called him, and he came right back to me, and I worked him. I'd never had I'd never worked Israel on FT eight on ten meters, so that was that was kind of a neat thing
too. Oh yeah, see earlier, Yeah, yeah, I know wsjt X has something similar on that left box over there where kind of tells you who's calling CQ. But I always when I checked when I set my settings for wsjt X, I put the CQ only, so I always get a list of people that are actually calling CQ. So I can try to respond and make a contact with them, right, That's usually what I Yeah, I've got that box checked right here and can uncheck it and see where other
people are doing. But yes, I like the good tracker option. That looks really you get a lot more information there, it does. Yeah, it gives you a lot more info on that. So there you go. I popped up quickly. Uh k KG two. See why I have this kind of shrunk down on my screen, right down so I can't see it very well. Let's see, there's an N one station, call me and go back to him real quick. All right, So let's go back over
here and look, No, not that one all right there? Okay, not seeing much on the Yeah, there's too many clouds up there right now to really see what the sun's doing. But uh, we will see what we see. I'm gonna go out there. I'm gonna have to go out there and adjust it here in just a little bit, so at least you have some blue sky. Yeah, yeah, well like I have. This
morning, it was mostly cloudy. I looked out and I was like, okay, it is gonna be cloudy, and then it cleared off and I'm like, okay, typical texts, right, so, uh so it cleared off, and then these white clouds started rolling through, and like I said, they were rolling, they were rolling pretty quickly right now. So I don't know. We'll see what we see. I guess when we when we get there. But I just want to be able to see something, really. I just say, hey, there, it is right there. Okay,
I'm good. I don't really care which but it is. I just want to see something. What percentage of the totality are you in? You know, like eighty five percent or you know what, that's a good question. I know that Hillsboro, which is just like thirty forty minutes south of me, is in totality, so I'm not far from it. I bet I'm like seventy five to eighty five, maybe ninety percent something like that. Yeah, I think you're probably close to ninety. Yeah. Yeah, I
think it's it's pretty it's it's going to be. It's supposed to be pretty total here, depending on what the clouds are going to let us see, of course. Yeah, because the band or the width of the uh totality of things like seventy miles wide or something like that. I can't remember the exact number. Yeah, yeah, something like that. There we go, there's some there's some blue sky and sunlight. Yeah, there it is right there. Michael Box. What's up, dude, Good to see you in
there. I guess you're uh, oh you work from home full time. Now. Uh, there's no solar filter on the camera. No, it's just my phone. It's it's it's an extra phone I have. It's not my phone. This is my phone, but it's an extra phone I have. So just no, I just I just uh stuck it up there and and uh let it go. So you know, during during the during the last eclipse, I was trying to figure out a way to look at this thing. When it happened. Yeah, dawned on me that I have a
solar powered welding helmet. Oh oh, I went wrapped myself, my my helmet, came outside. That's sit in the sun little bit to charge the batteries up so I don't weld like all the time. And when you look to the sky instantly goes black on you. Now I was able to sit there and watch the whole thing. It was really cool, nice, very cool. Yeah, that's that's great. My wife is at her office in Dallas, and she says it's clearing in downtown right now, So I think
there her whole office is gonna do a thing. In fact, they might be out there now. There's a park not too far down the road from where they are, and they're gonna all go as a team out there to the park and watch the eclipse. So a lot of people are getting work done today in the USA. In Texas way back, amber alert signs on the freeway says, don't stop on the freeway to watch the eclipse. I
know it. Yeah, yeah, I saw a lot of that coming back from fred Driving home from Fredericksburg on Saturday, there's a lot of this, no stopping on the side of the road, no stopping on shoulder. And I'm like, yeah, I'm kind of glad I stayed home today because I don't want to be a part of all that madness down there. But yeah, yeah, yeah, yep, but yeah, I'm happy and safe up here in my studio with a bottle of rum. Yeah yeah, I don't know that rum you brought to field Day. That was evil. I don't
think I want any more of your rum, dude. Now what I got today, this is the uh if you don't know if you're how familiar you are with bourbons. But the most popular bourbon out there is Pappy van Winkler by one of course, yes, or to get three thousand dollars a bottle. This is the Pappy van winkle of RUMs four square? Is that what
that says? Yep? Right out of Barbado or Barbados. Huh okay, I haven't heard of that one, but that I mean, I'm not a rum connoisseur, so yeah, okay, I've been kind of playing with it because RUMs kind of uh care free, there's no real rules in it, whereas bourbon you have specific things you have to do make a bourbon a bourbon and rum doesn't care. You're still sugar and something fermented and you're still isn't that's the difference between That's a difference, I mean for your of course you're
correct about bourbon. But that's the difference between bourbon and whiskey. If if you don't do it right for bourbon, it's just just a whiskey, right right. So yeah, that's a I've been I've been testing out new bourbons and whiskeys lately, and I found a couple that that Devil's River. Single single cask is pretty good. I like that stuff. And uh, the Elijah Elijah, Elijah Craig, Elijah Craig. That's it. Yeah, that that one's pretty good. Single barrels like a hidden secret kind of thing.
Come on, clouds there, Yeah, move out of the way. What do you do it blow really hard? Yeah? There we go. Good. I wonder if I do. I do have a polarizing filter for a camera of mine somewhere, but I couldn't tell you where that was. It's been years since I use that. I could just go set it on top of the phone. Maybe, but well, polarizing filters generally work at a specific angle of yes from point right at the sun at I won't act like
much of anything. No, that's probably true. Yeah, that's probably true. If you've got a old pair of sunglasses and put that over your lens, I might block. Then I might. I could. I might. Yeah, I might try that. We'll see see what happens with that. So you can, or you can run Harbor Freight and pick up a solar powered welder's helmet. Well, well I can't. I can't add that to I can't add a welder's homet to zoom unless it comes with built in Wi
Fi. SOE put you put your phone inside the helmet pointing through the lane. Yeah, I guess you could do that. Yeah, yeah, that's true. That's good. Uh, just saying for a friend says that it's one hundred and fifteen miles wide. Oh really, and we should be ninety nine percent here in North Texas area. So very cool. So yeah, I'm pretty I pretty pretty sure. That's uh, that's I was thinking it was like ninety to ninety five, but I don't remember. It's been a
while since. I Look, I wasn't originally planning on being here during it. I was gonna go down there, and it's pretty much one hundred percent down there where in Kerville where the guys are today. But like I said, it's not Yeah, I don't know what the weather at. Frank said he might join the zoom so we might be able to hear from them a little bit later. But he joined the zoom last night, but I didn't have it running, doesn't have it. I don't have any have any guest
speakers last night. But there we go. Yeah, combined two polarizing filters maybe mm hmm. Neutral density filter. You know, I want to say, I want to say it does have a neutral density filter. It's a software filter, neutral density software filter on that camera. So it's probably not as good as a hardware filter obviously, but but in the in the camera program, it has a neutral, neutral density virtual software filter. So yeah,
I think a lot of the Sony cameras have that. I'm looking at buying Sony A seven three's pretty soon, and that's got a built in indie filter, but I'd rather have actual ones that put on the end of the left. Yes, agreed, agreed, Yes, true. Yeah, you know that Gigabarts is a full fledged Sony dealer down right really Yeah, well all cameras they have Sony, Cannon, Nikon, Panasonic, U Fuji, I think, yeah, yeah, the whole the whole kit and kaboodle.
They're uh, they're getting into the telescopes. US got a lot, yeah, got a lot of a lot of stuff that's good for content creators,
YouTuber's, podcasters, that kind of stuff. So yep. Yeah, I've been a Nikon guy for about twenty years now, and uh, I just started discovering the Sony cameras and this particular model making model and looking for is uh supposed to be far superior with the color profiles it has built into it, and you can literally take the camera out of the box and get perfect exposure, perfect everything, minimizing the uh post production you gotta do on any
photos or video. Mm hmm, I haven't seen that. But I've been a You said you were a Sony guy or a Nica, Well, I was a Nikon guy. I've got a D five hundred here and a whole bunch of lenses and all kinds of accessories for it. See, I've been
I've been a Canon guy for gosh. I've got an old a to Canon EOS A two, which was like their second or third top of the line camera next to the EOS one thirty five millimeter film cameras, and I've still got it, I mean, used it a long time, but I've but all the all the lenses for that pretty much fit all the new stuff. You have to get an adapter for the mirrorless, but it's there. They're
still easy to use. And uh, but those Sony's, Uh, those Sony cameras are are nice that I've I've looked at a couple of them, so I think Okay, so according to this website here, let me pull this back up again. According to this website right here, I think we should be starting to see something around like the twelve thirty five twelve thirty seven time period, so basically five to seven minutes now we should start seeing something
kind of come into the picture. So we're gonna keep watching it and see what happens. I think we also have like seven planets aligning at the same time. This just happening, really yeah, wow, huh yeah, I saw and I was doing some research on NASA's website or some other website this morning. Is there's like seven planets are lining up in the same time as this thing's happen. There's a lot of weird little things going on today.
I'm not looking overthinking and reading into it or anything. It's just you know, it is what it is. Yeah, okay, all right, Josh, Josh. I would I would make a comment, a snide remark about your last comment, but I'll be nice. It's solar eclipse day, man, I'll be nice. I'm just it would just be a tease anyway. I wouldn't be serious. I'm never serious. So somebody said, what was it forty five. Yeah, forty five. Auto was in there a minute
ago, he says. I'm twenty five miles from Kerrville. I've seen the sun for about twenty seconds, so I think we're seeing more son than Frank is. Right now, let's see who uh something else nobody's answering me. Oh, though, there's somebody's coming back to me, Papa Alpha two station coming back to me. So I'll be interested to see what what eighty. I don't think I can do one sixty with this antenna, even with this tuner, I think I can get eighty to work. But more than anything,
I just want to see. I want to go down to the band see if the band opens up, so we'll see what that u u oh see you knew what I was gonna say. Josh, Yeah, totally set it up so the kids can watch it. Awesome, how much? How much? I don't think California is in the uh? Oh are you are? You're setting up something so you're not pointing a camera at the sky. You're probably setting up something else for that. Cool? Yeah, do that? Those kids are gonna want to watch it for sure. I hope we
don't get invaded. Well, that's basically the hope every day that I wake up with, let's see uh watching McCallum. It's already started for us. If you have the eclipse glasses, you should see a small sliver cut out of the sun. Okay, cool, I feel bad for Frank. Yeah, I kind of do to actually, mm hmm, Okay, well there it is right there. Oh okay, I lost my I lost my feed So Scott, I'm gonna let you have it for a minute. Oh good. The camera might have the phone might have overheated. We'll see, we'll
see what happened. So I'll be uh yeah, hopefully not. I don't know. I'll let you have it for a minute. I'll rap back. I'm gonna mute myself just okay. So all the cussing. Yeah, so it's ought to be pretty interesting. Even though I got no uh visual of the eclipse today. I mean, I'm still gonna go dark outside. That ought to be kind of freaky. Uh. Either way, I did I touched story before. A couple of years ago there was an eclipse that happened,
and I don't love this. Particular artist thought this up or somebody around him thought it up. But right at the time, of the last eclipse that they had. There was a concert going on, and I guess Ozzie was there, and they timed it so that just as he came out onto the stage, the eclipse was starting, and of course he sings bark at the Moon. They timed it just writes when he got to the course of bark at the Moon, the eclipse was in actual totality. I thought that
was just kind of cool. Once in a lifetime thing is never going to happen again, but it's definitely kind of cool when people think ahead and think outside the box a little bit and plan for stuff like that. Hopefully his phone didn't deep six itself. But what happened. The phone overheated, all right. I took it down. I put it in the fridge, so yeah, well, yeah, I'll bring it back here in just a little bit up an ice pack. Yeah. I think I've got a nice pack
inside that I could probably do that with. Yeah, maybe I'll try that. But yeah, yeah, the phone overheated, so that's got a little warm. We're in the seventies or eighties up here today, seventy six right now, it's seventy nine according to my thermometer. I have out here and U and it's been sitting out there for probably an hour and fifteen minutes something like that. So it lasted that long. That's not bad. It's been out there a while. Yeah, alright, so just don't forget about the
phone and leave it in the fridge. Well it's not gonna not gonna hurt that, but yeah, we'll see see what happens. Alright, I'm still calling CQ SEQP on ten meters and ten meters still looks pretty good for now. I was seeing a huge well it was like a multiple signal thing about down here around like twenty eight oh three or four, and I'm like, what is that? So I scrolled down to it before I started the live stream, and it was like it sounded like five or six or seven people
all doing CW. It's just like this big conglomerate of CW. Just one guy was going really fast. I assume it was Charlie, but I don't know. But yeah, that's gone now. You can you could see it was really wide too, as large CW gathering down there on the bottom of ten meters let's see. Okay, so we're calling CQ right now. It's all good, right, there. Something said, soak your phone in water. Yeah, yeah, maybe I'll do that. Stand by James at Quirky
QRP says he's hitting Alaska in Japan on thirty meters. Wow, let's let's go back over there and kind of look and see what the halt transmission. There's some let's see, where's thirty meters there? It is seeing much on thirty meters here, okay, uh forty ft eight seven seven four not seeing
much there either, I mean for the FT eight propagator. Yeah, I'm just looking at the FT eight frequency to see how Yeah, that's a good measure of propagation on you know, just kind of like check and see if the band's up type thing might not be worth it might be just worth uh tuning up on thirty and just see what happens. Yeah yeah, goold. Yeah, nothing on eighty either, So let me go back to thirty. Oh yeah, that's no good. And ten is not really made for thirty,
but I'm pretty sure this tuner will handle it. Nope, no, we're not. Now, we're not gonna be able to do thirty, which is I mean, it's not really showing anything out there right now anyway. But there's fifteen. I totally forgot you had a flex radio. Oh yeah, oh yeah, seventy three hundred wasn't good enough for you, huh. I've never had the seventy three hundred in my shack. It's always been a field radio. Okay, so just like my FTDX ten. Actually it's always
been a field radio. I was actually pretty impressed the after d X ten when you had it over in Galveston and we got to play a little bit. That was pretty cool. Yeah yeah, I like it. I like it a lot. The filtering on it was actually what stood out to me. Yes, yeah, yep, very true, very true. All right, so I'm monitoring fifteen meters now, fifteen ft eight. We'll see what comes through some There's somebody right there calling CQ SEQP, so we'll go back
to him real quick. All right, I'm gonna go get my phone, Scott. Let me switch it back over to you. Appreciate you being my co host today, No problem, and uh, all right, be right back. Sounds good. I have I kind of expected more questions from you guys. I guess everybody's kind of doing their thing here and just here for the participation. That's pretty cool. Shep I didn't. Yeah, that's awesome. You got you got a whole lineup of the Icon family of radios.
That's pretty slick. Yeah. I'm kind of expecting with this whole thing happening right now that forty meters will pick up a little bit and might get a little bit more more activity on there. Can we make the eclipse go faster? I'll try. I'll keep pushing the moon further. My main radio is a Icon seventy three hundred. I have two of them, one for the shack and one I use for portable. I've also got the seven o five,
which is my QRP radio, and that's pretty much it. I haven't really been looking to get into any other radios at the moment, aside from the one. I want to get a seventy six to ten down the road, but that's gonna be a little wow. But I've been pretty happy. I was seventy three hundred who came out in twenty fifteen. Still a solid radio, still works, you know, and get him for about a thousand bucks. Let's see, try to catch up all the questions here. I'd
be a question for Jason about the wow. That says a lot of icons. Man, it's like Jason got the phone working again and the sky cleared up for him. Okay, we'll see how long that lasts. I'm sure that I'm probably gonna have to go cool it down again at some point. I did check there is a neutral density filter running in the software, neutral dnsity filter running on the camera. But there it's probably not the greatest quality in the world. You'd probably a lot better off with a hardware filter over
it, I would assume. Yeah, oh, usually you know, hardware filters would work better anyway. Right, Yeah, tell you what though, your camera shutting down like that and giving it time to cool down. Look at the sky. Now you get that one little cloud there, and there's nothing else. I can see nothing else there. Yep, that's not true. Have a perfect moment there, Yep, yep, that's true. Let's see KO four AFL is in the house. Just mount the camera to the
DX commanders. Everyone, someone's in every live stream. Someone's got to be a smart ass. So Steve wins the prize today. I guess so somebody had asked a question you scroll up on your comments there about your flex radio. That a comment that I couldn't or a question I couldn't answer there. Let's see if I can find it. It's K zero OTC Tyler. Okay, Uh, is there a reason you don't run multiple slices for FT eight on your Flex? Group tracker does a great job of summarizing all the data.
So my Flex is a sixty four hundred which only has one MDU or some processing or whatever. Basically, basically my Flex is limited. I should have gotten the sixty six hundred, and my hope is to upgrade one of these days. But the two antenna switches, the two intenta ports on the back of the radio act like a switch, so only one is active at a time. I have not ever tried to jack around with multiple slices on one intenna switch. I could totally do that with a MULTIPI on Intenda,
obviously, but no, I just I just haven't never. I just haven't never really done that. So uh, maybe that's something I'll play with soon. All right, So Cheddar Steve is in the house, and I see you there only because you are You're coming in from Rumble. And when I ran Rumble last night was last night was the first time I ever live streaming on Rumble I've been kind of tinkering with it, and it worked well last night, but the chat was not coming through from Rumble through restream. But
it looks like it's working. Now. There we go, and that's me replying in Rumble. Sweet okay, so even better. Wow? All right, so we're streaming on Rumble now, guys, and this guy's not answering me on fifteen FT eight. So I want to go back to Colin c Q. And I had an opportunity on FT eight about a week ago. Pittcarn Island came up. Ooh, and there's very few hams on that island. Yeah, and I think I think one or two were related to the
guy who was on the the Bounty back in the seventeen hundreds whatever. Yes, yes, yes, that's really kind of a cool contact to get if you can actually nail it. Yes, agreed, Yeah, yeah, yeah, Tyler. My hope is to upgrade to a sixty six hundred one of these days so that I can do because you can have four slices on the sixty six hundred as I as I understand it, and it's a it's a neat it's a neat thing to be able to tinker with. But I haven't.
I haven't really done much yet with that, so one of those things I'm hoping to do soon. Those things are not cheap, in case you haven't noticed, new car or new radio, right, yeah, basically yeah, basically true goodness. Okay, I still want that all Craft K four HD man oh man, I do too radio. I want one of those. Oh yeah, I want one of those. Also. It's a buddy
of mine's got the he didn't have the HD. He's got the first one, the H or whatever it is, and they didn't have the HD out when he got his, So he let me go over there and film a video to walk around with it, kind of look at some of the buttons and knobs and whatnot. So that videos on the channel. But it is a nice radio for sure. The screen and the waterfall and that radio look
fantastic. Oh yeah, And I think at one of the hamfests you had done a live you were interviewing the guys over Allocraft and they were saying something that really just blew my mind. He's like, yeah, the instruction manuals built into the radio. You just hit a button comes up on the screen. It's like, that's cool as hell? That is right? Yeah, yeah, yeah, totally, yeah, yeah it was that's right. I
kind of forgot about that actually, but yes it is. You just hit you just hit a little menu at him and it comes up on the screen. You scroll through like how do I do this? Oh? Here? It is right here, and you never have to worry about losing the manual or worry about your you know, printing out an eight hundred page PDF or any of that stuff. Yeah, totally, totally okay, John, did I just work? You? Looks like I just worked casey four l z N. Let's see. Yeah, I see you there seventy three John,
He said it was plus seven. Good, okay, it looks like you were plus one. You were plus one, so good. Thank you for thank you for the contact for sure, and guys, thanks for hanging with me today. Four hundred and seventy eight of you watching. Only twelve of you have hit the thumbs up though, I don't know, I don't know, maybe nobody, nobody likes the stream. But yeah, this is fun.
Like I said, I wasn't originally planning on doing this. I was originally planning on being down in Kerrville, Texas, which about an hour outside of Fredericksburg. That's where Frank is right now. Vern's down there, Kadum Redy, Mike is down there, A couple other guys are down there, and there's supposed to be clouds and thunderstorms later this afternoon. I am on fifteen meter ft eight, guys, fifteen meter ft eight, let's see put
that upright there for the moment. Yeah, fifteen meters ft eight. That's where I'm at right now. So, yeah, we were supposed to go down there. We'd had that plan for probably three or four months something like
that, and then the storm. The weather forecast has just been crapped for the last couple of weeks, so we've been watching it and I told my wife, I was like, you know, with all the added traffic and all the Yahoo's on the road and all this kind of stuff, if the weather is not going to clear up by the time we finish our vacation, which was last Saturday, because I was going to drive that we had. We were down in an RV park outside of Fredericksburg. Lukenbach actually got to
go to the Lukenbach Texas Bar. That was pretty cool. Uh. So we were down there for the last week, I was going to drive the RV over on Saturday and drop it off and bring her home Saturday night because we couldn't get our house sitter slash dog sitter to extend, and too until
Monday, we only planned her through through Saturday. So uh, so I was gonna do that, but you know, with the weather and everything, I just I just decided to skip it because it was traffic predicted and rain and storms and thick clouds predicted, and I'm just like, eh, I'm not going to do that. So that's where I'm And then I decided, and then I was I was Uh. I was driving home and I was like, oh, I could do a live stream. This is how terrible of a YouTube I am. I was like, I didn't think about it
until like almost the last minute. I was like, I could do a live stream, and uh, I was like okay. So I went around and checked several of the channels that I knew that were in the totality path, and I'm like, okay, I'm not I'm not seeing anybody else that has anything planned, because I don't like stepping on people's toes if somebody else already had something planned. But I didn't find anything, so I'm like, well, okay, let's just go ahead and spin up a live stream.
What the heck? So I had to kind of improvise a camera at the last minute because I don't have an outdoor camera on my hamstrack. Josh has an outdoor camera on top of his house that points to his step by our antenna, and I always thought that was a good idea something I wanted to do, but I've never done it because I don't have my tower up yet, and my wife and I keep talking about moving and we're going back and forth, and I guarantee you as soon as I put that tower up,
we'll decide we want to move. So that's how it happens, right, That's why I haven't put it up yet. So yeah, that's right, yep, yep. So we'll see all right, I'm not seeing anything in the sky on that cam right there, but you know, without a without a proper filter, it might be kind of hard to see, but it's gonna there will there will come a time where it'll be it'll come in there and you'll be able to see it at some point. So we're just gonna
keep watching. Got a nice beautiful sky there at least, yes, yeah, yeah, at least the cloud's kind of moved out. Absolutely, So I hear the CERN super collider is also going to be testing the Higgs Boson theory today, trying to create a God particle at the time of the eclipse as well. Okay, you're gonna have to. I understood the word super collatter, and the rest of that I didn't get so explained with that, right. Well, there's a there's a thing called the Higgs Boson particle.
It's a particle they been trying to find for a long time and they've been trying to figure it out. They call it the God particle. It's like the theory of everything, kind of a particle thing. Okay, I don't don't don't get me talk about quantum physics, like I don't know a whole lot about it. Yeah, but apparently they're running experiment today and going to run this thing through and try to create this thing at the time of the
eclipse or somewhere around today. So there's a lot of weird little things going on. You know, you got NASA launching rockets into this thing today, and yes, yeah, that's true. Somebody earlier said that the NASA YouTube channel was streaming. So I wonder, I wonder what they're showing over there. I haven't popped over there to look yet. Massive clouds over Tyler, Texas. Less than thirty five minutes too. Totality yes, correct, yes,
yeah. According to this website here, totality should be right at one thirty r right at the bottom of the hour, after one o'clock, we'll see a big G says hello from Baytown, Texas. Are you having any more clarity in the sky down there? And you're only about twenty thirty miles south where I am? Good question. So if we look at grid tracker here on my on this screen, it still shows the moon could be a little bit south of Mexico, so I'm not sure how real time that is.
Look at the bands that are opening up on your FT eight though, Yes, that's changed. Where are you seeing that your little red vertical things up the top? Oh right up here? Yes? Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah. Ten twelve It says twelve meters is open. In fact, it says twelve meters is open more than fifteen and seventeen. Let me go look at twelve meters. I worked a couple of you on fifteen twelve meters is a fun band because it's so rarely open. It's like open even
less often than ten meters. Is yeah, here we go. Okay, let's see what my tuner looks like. Intenta looks good, all right, switching to twelve meters. Guys, SEQP on twelve meters WB four EHG is out there calling. I answer that guy perfectly clear in Eastland County. Sean says, you can see the eclipse on PSK reporter. Really, I gotta pull that up. What was that beep? Something beeped at me? Ah, yes you can. That's pretty slick. There's PSK reporter right there,
so grit trackers a little bit behind. Yeah, it looks like the moon's actually west of Mexico. Yes on PSK. According to PSK re reporter, that is true. Okay, where I made one contact on twelve meters So I'm happy, but I'm gonna call CQ anyway. So, speaking of FT eight, what was your most unique prized Q? SOO on FT eight. On FT eight, oh, you're getting Antarctica. I have not gotten Antarctica. I got a I gotta I I monitor the I have on my hand
alert. I have the call sign for McMurdo station, which is like casey four USV or something like that. I have it, I don't, I don't. I don't remember, but it's I mean, I could look it
up, I guess, but I gotta. I gotta alert that they run forty ft eight one time and I was not at home, I'm like crap, And I was not at a place where I could remote into my flex from where I was either, So that would be that would that would be the ultimate The ultimate goal for me is to get McMurdo station down there Antarctica. I have worked, you know, I guess the most unique thing I've ever worked is I worked a couple of Caribbean islands. One time. I
got uh oh, I got King of Prussia all the time. That was cool. I can't remember. I can't really remember what else I got, but it was there. There was there was some cool. Uh. I got South Korea. I thought that was neat so South Korea. So yeah, stuff like that, But Murdo stations on my list for sure. Yeah. I think all I've ever gotten as far as like the unobtainium kind of QSOs. I got South Africa. Yeah, that's kind of difficult to get
a hold of. Some times I hear that you can. You can get Madagascar, I believe has somebody down there, and then also the Falcon Islands down below in South America. But I got the one guy in Greenland that plays FT eight. Really it took me a half hour to get him, but he comes on. Everybody just files up. Bodim. Yeah, I'm sure. Yeah, I have got Iceland two or three times. I've never got Greenland, though I got Uh, I did get I did get South Africa, as you said, South Africa. Yeah, I got South Africa
one time. And I don't think I have the Falkland Islands though, I don't think I ever got them. But yeah, Greenland, that's good that that that would be That would be fun. Australia, Yes, Australia. I've got Australia, New Zealand. I've worked several times on several bands on FT eight. They're they're actually, I won't say they're easy to get, but they're easier than you might think they are to get. You know,
that beeping might be your microwave telling you your popcorns. Ready, now it's my uh, it's I got one of these new clocks from a teletron and and it's it's over there beeping out. I guess I've got an alarm on it or set something. I need to go turn that off. And it's it'll go It'll go away by itself, I think. So let's see. I wonder if this is this is probably not tracking, so let me refresh that page. Okay, hmm, well we'll see. I guess I do
want to check out the zoom here. Those clouds are starting to be obnoxious again. It looks like they're moving north now. Looks like the clouds are moving north. They were moving east earlier, but that direction they're moving kind of up like that on the screen that's north. Okay, well wind shift it happens, yeah, yeah, yeah. The cool thing is we're in
Texas. See you wait five minutes, that'll that'll all disappear exactly, Yes, very true, Lon Moore says, light Haze and Garland, which is about twenty minutes that way for me, twenty minutes west of me, Sun is about one third covered. See I can't I can't see that do the clouds right now? So what is the advantage of FT eight over SSB. Joe Wallace asks, FT eight is a low noise mode, so a lot
of the times when you can't get SSB is the hardest way. Well, maybe AM is a little bit harder, but voice fue voice voice over HF is the hardest way to make a contact. Not that it's difficult or you can't do it. I do it all the time. Parks on the Air is a great way to use SSB on on HF on multiple bands, but
CW and digital modes are more low noise. So if you have a signal down in the noise, you're gonna be able to pull it out a little bit better with FT eight and FT four and even PSK thirty one and Riddy than you would on sideband. So for those stations that just like to work some far off stations, like if I'm hearing South Africa or South Korea or something on FT eight, most likely I can scan through that band and not
hear anything on voice. So it's better at pulling up weak signals then than sideband or AM is so, and it's fun to use as a YouTuber, it's fun to use. While you're doing this, I'm talking to you guys, on the camera rather than talking to on the on the radio. So all right, Frank, rotated, not rotated, You're you're well, now you're rotated. Now you rotated the wrong way. I'm just gonna hold this for a second. See it happens every every time you move the camera it
it changes the rotation on you and put you back to being sideways. The eclipse is affection. See all those clouds behind you, so you guys can't see anything right now. Okay, See that's what I was afraid of today. Man, it happens. Man, what are you gonna do? I know we're here having fun. I can't find the eclipse long enough for the thirteen thirteen hundred millimeter to get a great picture of it, but I've been able to get it with the two hundred milimeter and then but you know,
I'm gonna blow those up. But I do have the radio station going where is maybe maybe I turn on rotation is on? That's right side up. There's my station right now running for the Ham Science that is just recording onto my computer. And we got the antenna way over there, and there's a bunch of people that's hanging out. We're having fun. Mal you's just still come down. It was an excuse to get together and you know, drink a bunch of bourbon. Mike lit a huge fire. You should have see.
I can't even see y'all anymore last night. You're gonna see on my video coming up. I'm hoping gonna get it out Tuesday, matches, I know. Yeah, yeah, who gave up? We might matches man, Mike access to fire. But no, you you sent me a picture last night. Frank, Is that that fire you sent me a picture of last night? Yeah? Yeah, it got so hot this morning. We just put a gigantic log on the embers and it lit again at five in the morning. When I woke up to us to the restroom, it was still
blowing orange. Wow, the ridiculous. Yeah, just throwing on logs all night like bigger, bigger, bigger. That's actually a common thing at at the Deer Least. We we we we build a fire large enough to see the next morning lots of times. But that's good. It's fun to do. It's fun to do. I'm glad you guys got to do that. Mm hmm. You ever start a fire using tenor right? No, it's
a challenge and we are going to do it this summerfield day. There you go, Yeah, because we need a fire when it's one hundred and forty degrees in Texas, right right, idea, Yeah, yeah, we don't. We don't do that. It's about halfway right now, and it's dropped and noticeable about six degrees. If we had the clear sky, you could start seeing now the little half moons between, like leaves and stuff, and a couple other cool things that are happening. Yeah, we're just getting brief,
brief glimpses of it. Who's a lot that you got there? How far away from Jon are you in? Miles? Miles? I don't know. We're in Texas, so I'm about uh two to twenty two thirty something like that. Who's life feed you're stelling there? That's me, that's uh, that's my that's my smartphone pointed at the sun right now with oh shit, is that clear in Dallas? Yeah? Yeah, I was. I was surprised. I was surprised it was it was that, But yeah,
I can't see a sliver. I don't have the correct filter on the camera. But having a camera is better than having no camera. Since I'm cursing, I hate you right now. Whatever I mean, that's you know, it is what it is. So yep. But well you might go up outside, Jason, to step out and see if the leaves are given that crescent moon look on the ground. Oh that's an idea. Yeah, maybe
I'll do that here in a minute. Yep. So we've got twenty five minutes until suppose the total totality in this area, so fingers crossed, the clouds will stay out of the way for at least four or five minutes. So yep, nice man, nice am, I muted. No, you're good. Ok, here we're going on, Jason. What's going on? Guys? Hey, what's up? I'll pull you back off. Hey, Matt, I was wondering if you're going to make it out there. I texted you like three days ago and didn't get a reply. Oh I didn't
realize it didn't reply. Yeah, of course I told you a week you guys coming for sure, had time off. This is where we planned to go. Well I knew that, but I thought you guys might detour, depending uh, based on the clouds. That's why I was letting you know. We're doing stuff out here in central the Central Texas Hill country for the next two three days. Nice. Then we're headed then we we're heading back east. Yeah. So it's been a fun time. Good. You're gonna
come through. You're gonna come through Dallas at all? No, I think part as north was. We're gonna get as Austin. Okay, okay, so cool man, good to see. I'm glad you made it out there. Due y'all. Y'all have yeah, y'all have fun doing doing that that road trip. It'll be fun. Oh, it's been a good it's been a good time. So all right, I'm gonna go back, sit back down. I just heard Jason's voice over here. Figure out, thanks man. Kyle tried to Kyle tried to join the zoom and I I either didn't
see you on time or you you only were there for a second. So Kyle, if you want to join again, please do is Kay passed out in his tent or something. No, he's over there spitting by the fire, of course. But but my up and coming eclipse video will be tonight or tomorrow. Just watch my channel. It's about to travel down here and the fun times we had and of course the eclipse, and it's been fun.
It's been fun. So I'm gonna say seven three, y'all, I'm gonna probably put the two hundred milimeter, get some quick thoughts the sun goes away. Unfortunately, I can't use that big man. I was really one of that big lens. I can really zoom in on that guy and he's huge. Yeah, yeah, okay, put me in for some good shots. Yeah, for sure, for sure, for sure, all right man, Yeah, send me some pictures when you have some. Yeah, I'll give the chance. All right, seven three, enjoy the eclipse, and
uh you too, have a good one. Are you coming back tonight? Frank yep during the thunderstorm. That might be a part of the video. I'm gonna there you go. All right. Well, I'm gonna be sitting on the patio smoking a cigar tonight probably, So I'm already doing that one today, sir. Yeah, I spoked one yesterday, so I'll catch up to you. So all right, man, it looks like it looks like Kyle's got his clear sky there behind him. Look at that beautiful sky you
have. I hate you very clear, are you guys? The Q SO PARTI is not still going, is it? Yeah? It is. It started about a couple of hours ago, and I think it goes to like four. No, I'm meant I met the Missouri q SO party you were doing last weekend. No, it's done. Yeah, we won. We want it. Awesome, awesome, that's great. Well, congratulations to you. So yeah, I'm I'm calling CQSEQP on twelve meter ft eight right now night. So what is there A lot of people on? There's actually quite
a few. I made a bunch of contacts on ten and a few contacts on fifteen, and there's actually more people on the twelve meters is lit up right now, more than I expected it to be. So yeah, I've made I don't know, four contacts so far on twelve meter ft eight, So not bad for twelve meters, I'd say that's that's not bad. So yeah, it's a storming there in Texas, not where I am. You can see if you see in the zoom, I've got a second camera set
up pointed at the sun. So that's right outside the ham shack. Gotcha. Well it looks good if the out clouds just get out of the way. Yeah, yeah, yep. So it should be totality here in about twenty minutes. Gotcha. I think we live stream from Mazatland, Mexico. Right now, that's a live stream. Wow, very cool, would you say, Kyle? I was gonna say, how how long are you in totality? Do you know? Do you remember? Four minutes? Yeah? So we're on the northern side of I'm in Missouri here. I think we're
going to get like two and a half to three. I think. Okay, okay, recording in progress. Just in case I hit that earlier. I forgot uh fifteen Uh Andy says, fifteen meters is dropping out. Okay, nobody's answering me on twelve. So let's uh, let's see what else we can do here. Change to uh, fifteen meters still looks alive to me from here, let's look at ten ten meters still looks alive. I'm go up to forty and see what happened. What's happening down there? See?
How do I change my camera? Not really seeing much for forty. I thought forty would light up kind of when this thing started. There's a small line there. Okay, there's a couple of people on forty. Okay, we're gonna do it. We're gonna go forty. Let's see what that looks like for a while. Yeah, you were talking about FT eight contact.
I was really impressed, Scott. Back during Christmas, I did a live stream and I was waking up early for whatever, because my sleep patterns have been weird my whole life, so sometimes I wake up early, and I was. I turned on forty ft eight just for the heck of it, and I was working Japan on forty metert I get. I can get
Japan on ten meters and fifteen meters sometimes twenty meters on forty meters. I thought that was pretty darn cool for my little old station here inside of the Valley neighborhood I live in in Texas to work Japan on forty meter FT eight at a hunt at like ninety watts. So I thought that was pretty That was pretty good. Absolutely. Yeah. But anyway, getting darker here in West Texas wk WK. It's sliced. Have you you can see the slice? Yeah, I can see the srice. That's awesome. Yeah, I
don't know if I can hang on. Let's see if yeah, put your put your camera in front of it and see if that were just science here, Yeah, it is science. Atlanta's just coming out of the eclipse. Now all right, let's see. I can yeah, I can kind of see it. Hang on, hang on, better science here, better better science, improve your science, sir. Okay, there you go. It just looks kind of blurry there. I don't see a slice though. Yeah,
sorry, guys, it's wait a minute, I don't know. Oh my gosh, that's maybe if I just point my camera towards the son who knows not much. Yeah, yeah, that's that's kind of what it looks like here as well. But I can't really see much of a slice yet. But yeah, there's uh so it's all right, I put my camera up there. Sorry, guys. So it is, Oh my gosh, I am all over the place. That's all right. This is horrible. My glasses are falling off. I can't get my that's good. So yeah,
it's it's got a big chunk out of it. It's got it's probably I don't know. Maybe. Oh we're getting close to the time here. It's already one fifteen. So yeah, yeah, it's uh, yeah, you can see a chunk. So I guess, oh, here come the aliens here here they cut. Well, we'll see what we see. I guess. Yeah, somebody somebody the chat said that the NASA stream has a million people watching it right now. I wish I could tap into that. Hey, NASA, guys, come over here. You never heard of Ham,
You ever heard of Ham radio? There was quite a bit of traffic if you if you pull up Potosi, Missouri. We drove to Potosi to get here, and uh, there's quite a bit of traffic. So I'm assuming that fifty five north coming out of this place, coming north into Saint Louis, it's going to be a zoo here in about an hour. Oh yeah, yeah, imagine you're right. Everybody's live streaming NASA's footage of the
eclipse down in Mexico right now. Yeah. Yeah. So PSK reporter right now has the moon pretty much in the middle of Mexico right there, kind of outside of uh just uh just east of Coal Col Coula Scan or something like that, pretty much do east of LAPAs, Bolivia. M So, but that's where it's uh, that's where it's showing right now. So we'll see how far that one keeps going. I am calling c q S e
QP on forty meters. It looks like it's there's some activity out there, not a lot, but but there's some there's a little bit of activity out there. So Kyle, you you changed your hair? Yeah? He disappeared, hold it and well, well greetings, how are you good? He walked off and goes, pulp this. I went, okay, not the first time, it won't be the last. That's oh boy, Yeah, he's I see him. Oh, let's see see you guys out there doing. Are you doing the contest then, Kyle? No, we uh,
we're all contested out. I bet you are. You guys had a wild ride last weekend. I was watching part of that. Yeah, So we did a PoTA this morning and we called it quits. We're just gonna hang out. So good callum, what's up, dude. I'm just really excited about least. I've only seen myself one complete eclipse. I was outside at the time and it was just it was just have you actually seen one of yourself before? Jason? Yes, yeah, twenty seventeen. I think we
had one come through here. And I want to say sometime when I was a kid, we did too, but I don't really remember, so long time since I was a kid. Dude, I don't know if you know this or not, but I turned fifty last month. Yeah. Yeah, I just I just wanted to crash the penalty because I'm just quite absolutely in mine. Absolutely. Yeah, glad you're here. I'll shut up. Mostly I haven't shaved, that's all right. I read a story this morning on
the news. There's a guy out there who is one hundred and five years old. He's witnessed thirteen total eclipses in his life. Wow, holy cow, I guess, I guess if you want to have goals, that's that's certainly a worthy one. Jeez. Oh my goodness. Half half covered. Now noticeably cooler outside. Okay, all right, so I'm going to walk outside for a minute and just kind of feel what the weather's like. I'll be right back. It's if those crescent moons are showing up on the ground.
Yeah yeah, I'll look for that. Hey, Dight Scott, doing pretty good man? How are you? Yeah? Very good? I like you last couple of bit y it's good good stuff, man. I'm actually enjoying a libation from your part of the country. Which one is that Smith and Cross to make it frum out of London? Oh croky very nice. Hard to find around here, but I love it. I'm sure actually because it is what is the time now locally it's twenty past seven at night,
So I'm just gonna get another base. Go here, you go, So no crescent moons on the ground, but you can totally it feels like it's nighttime out well not quite. It feels like it's dusk. You go out there and it's it's like both starting to get dark and light at the same time. Yeah, so it's pretty it's pretty noticeable right now. It looks about like a seven thirty at night out here right now now towards the sun still kind of up, but it's like getting ready to disappear once. Yes,
yes, so callum. Somebody had asked if the uh that the twelve meter the ex commander came with a guileless system. No, it'd be fun to try, but it wouldn't have right in the living daylights out of you. But you have that, you have that that hinge thing available right or is that? Yeah? I did it? Just it would so the nine there's three or four more sections to the twelve, so it would be like sticking a nine on top of something. It's you know, another twelve to
fifteen feet long, maybe the eighteen or the twenty six. I haven't got a twenty six. I'm pulling your leg. Yeah, twenty six meters? Yeah, well, what is that in bloody feet? Heaven's alive? I do? How am I waiting for the fifty the fifty meter to come out? Well, go talk to the BBC about that. Does it come convert? Twenty six meters two feet eighty five foot? That's no good? Hold on, I'm experimenting, okay. Experimenting is good. Yeah, experimenting is
good. Is good, It is good. It's good. It's good, it's good. Good's good. Good. No, So there's eight hundred and sixty thousand people watching NASA's that's crazy. Rips, that is crazy. I thought you were doing well. It needs six hundred. Jason, I know it. Yeah, no doubt. Let's see there's that no background? Nos. Has Jason joined his own stream? I'm going to walk outside with this camera. Oh how cool? If I can figure out how to switch ith
Yeah, you'll need to the audio on on the mobile. Yeah I can. I can unmute that, but I want to switch the camera to where it's the front facing camera rather than there it is right there. Okay, there's that you have a tidy desk. Oh. Yeah, it's very tidy desk. There's all you guys right there, very tidy desk. Okay, we're finally gonna look at the inside of your shack. Oh. If you haven't seen that, you haven't watched my videos. I've done that. Yeah,
I've seen. I've seen. I've seen. Go in and get outside, man, Yeah, you want to go outside? Kyle scrowing his hand. Yeah, yeah, I ain't can Okay, good loud and clear, better audio as well. I'm not seeing any like half moons or anything like that yet, all right, but I don't know. Oh you know what, I shouldn't look at it with my eye, but I just did, and I can see a crescent in it. Uh ah, probably the last thing you're gonna see. That's funny. Just lob bottomize yourself. You can't
really you can't tell. But it looks like it's evening out here. There's a there's a darkness that you can't really tell in the camera. Yeah, and they said cool a tool Jason a little bit. Yeah, it's a little cooler, yep, Sriz. Okay, well, I wanted to see what that looked like in the camera. It works well, well, don't forgiven out of Kade. Can you still hear us? Jason? Hopefully not.
The good news is that the camera shouldn't overheat anymore. Don wanted me to let you know, Jason, that he sent you a link last week of cameras pointed out over Richardson about nine cameras. Yeah he did, Okay, he did. I'll have to Uh, oh, I guess they. I have lost my class. Okay, where did he send me that? Though he sent me that in discord, I don't remember. Yeah, he
said in discord in discord. Okay. Yeah. Somebody also asked if you had a DX commander in your backyard just now, and you went back here. No, it's in the garage. That's a good place for it, right. A propagation there it works so faulty if you've got a big enough CARO. He's got those forty foot ceilings in his Uh wow, Yeah, I'm watching the NASA stream and it's all about propagation. And oh god,
there's an icon that's well hand radio stuff on the NASA stream. Now on the NASA stream, huh yeah, how do I transition to this which NASA streams? I'm on one here from NASA and all see them talking to a snoopy. What the hell am I looking at? Uh? It's it's about Uh it's about seventy five, is it? It's got clouds over it where I'm at, So even if I mean, I bet you're gonna be able to see it here pretty soon in the camera, even without the filter on it. But yeah, go Doug, Yes, yeah, the sun looks
like a half or you know, a half moon. Oh yeah, well, see's Kyle. That's cool. Jason. How far away is Kyle from you? Mm hmmm? Six hours? Okay? Yeah, I don't know where Kyle is right now, but probably now I'm in southern Missouri. We're probably how long does it take you here Springfield? Jason? Six hours? Six hours? Yeah, yeah, we're probably nine nine okay in Springfield. Okay, all right, So forty is forty meters is not doing that great
right now. Honestly, I thought forty meters would be up a little bit more, but I don't. I don't see that at all. It's getting close. You're gonna step away for a second. Look out the window here of my studio one second. Yeah, cool, yeah, oh at all? Do you remember the twenty seventeen one. Yeah, yeah, eighty meters is not doing much either, Oh so much. That dream it just looks like a cloudy day in Texas. Well, yeah, I imagine that's true.
Right, funny enough, I've just recorded a video about propagation. What happens? I mean, do all the bandons shop for two minutes or something? Well, and that that that's kind of what they're monitoring right now. The Hamsaig guys are kind of monitoring that to see just exactly what does happen, because I mean Josh said twenty died on him. Twenty. I haven't checked twenty. Let's check twenty. That's eighty meters is dead. Forty meters
is non pretty much non existent. That's going to fire up by remote. Then look at FTA to Jason. But I can't be bothered. He's not He's not rare enough. The X shot where's that from? That's that was sent to me in discord just now by hem Radio Hobo. I think he's in Utah. I think he's in Utah. Twenty meters FT eight is still very much alive here. Okay. I don't know how long that's going to be true, but that's how it is right now. So we've got some
clouds clearing there. Uh huh. Hopefully all roof or whatever isn't going to get away in the sun. Uh no, no, it's it's yeah, the sun should be moving to the right okay of the camera, so it's not gonna it shouldn't. Yeah, and what you got about another ten minutes before you're going to go totally black there? It's supposed its supposed to go totally black here, and it's supposed to be in like one minute. Not to be superstitious, Jason, we have six hundred and sixty six people watching
the stream. Where's Ka Ka Emerdy when you need him? Right? Yeah? There you go, trying to pronounce my iron Maiden. Yeah, yeah, no doubt sheezh Okay, Hey, you want to go back outside, Jason, that was quite good fun with I might I might do that here in a minute. Yeah, I'd like a live reaction from you. You're darker out there, Jason. Yeah, yeah, it is getting darker a lot more than it was hour or so. That see that it's out here's
the heavy rainstorm coming. It's one thirty so yeah, we're within the range, I believe for now. The next eight minutes or so. I think ham Radio Hobo is saying he used to sew the glasses over his phone to get that picture. A very cool Okay, let's see good morning progress. Okay, there we go one one. I'm so bad, I know, yeah, I just turn it down. Yeah, it's supposed to be totality right there. You can't really see it in that camera though. Okay,
I'm gonna walk outside. Don't do it, brother, I want to know how cold is Oh, look at that. I just got a uh, here we go. I just got an alert. My channel just passed nine hundred thousand views where you can't see that stud but number okay, I think you're gonna say die, one hundred thousand subscribers. I wish really well, Wow, it is really dark out here? Is it really? Oh? Yeah? Okay, yeah, your camera must be picking up a lot more
light than what you're actually seeing out there. Yeah you can. Yeah, the camera's just picking up a lot of white. But does he feel the sun. But it's just noticeably darker than before though for the uh, for the camera, it's there, the clouds clear a little bit. See the beams around it, sunbeams coming off the center yeah, yeah, I can see that. Yeah. Is it cooler, Jason? Is it? Is it white? Told? Uh uh yeah a little bit. It's cool down, you know, like it would be in like eight or nine o'clock at
night probably, uh huh yeah. Yeah, looking outside here, it's hopefully darker than it was before. This is better than the NASA stream anyway. Yeah, they're talking about dog, are they? Yeah? Are they? Oh no, now they've moved over. What's that the live chat on the NASA street It's so tense you can't read it. Oh yeah, they're just like it's like, yeah, I pulled up the live NASA stream here on my screen here. Nice. They even turn it on. Yeah yeah,
I am too, honestly. Now, So way over NASA's mess with the filters, Yeah, it doing that. So are they flying high above the clouds taking these pictures or something? I don't know. They might just have a really good telescope or a lens or something on this with some filters on it. It's a good question. I'm not sure where their camera is. And I was supposedly launching a couple of rockets up during this thing today, so okay, no, so uh I got two here, one of them
is three hundred and nine thousand watching. The other one is eight hundred and twenty thousand watching. Yeah, why they have two streams at once? Yeah, I don't know, but if you got the budget of NASA, I suppose you would. I just went into the chat and said first in the NASA chat. See if I could say it second? Yeah, fun chat wouldn't chat wouldn't even roll in. And now it's going like ninety miles an hour. I'm scrolling back up for yours. That's funny. You think the
people on that stream over there you'd get the joke. I don't think. I don't think they probably saw it with as many messages coming through. H m hm. So are you? Are you done at dust? Did you think, Jason? The world? It's almost dark. It's almost dark outside. I can't even see shadow. I kept the door of the ham shack open. I can't even see shadows anymore. Okay, Well that's probably because the clouds, though. You can see that. If the clouds weren't covering
the sun right now, it'd be a lot more uh m hmm. Look at your roof getting darker. Yes, very true. Weird sunny not sunny sky here in Wisconsin totality. In Lake Buchanan, Texas, they're actually seeing stars. Wow. That's pretty. That's pretty wild those seven planets that are lining up right now? Yeah yeah, uh huh, definitely don't see that here, but you can see the sky's getting darker. Okay, So how many minutes before your town gets it? And supposedly it's it should be right
now, Like it's dark outside right now. I'm looking out my door to the hamshack and in my backyard it looks like it's probably nine o'clock at night. Okay, it's not dark dark, but it's pretty it's like right before dark. Yeah. So if your old camera phone thing that's going to keep compensating to the last minute, isn't it right right? Yes? Yes, totally just ended in Curvial, Texas, and Frank probably didn't even notice. Yeah, Don in five SKT is probably seeing the same thing. I am.
Ok. He says it's dark now. Oh, they've got a Curveville, Texas feed up on the NASA channel or they did a second ago and it was dark dark. Okay, Wow, I just got a lot darker out where I am. Yeah, it's it's getting starting to get dark here too, like really dark, pretty slick. It's it's oh my god, it's got really dark here as well. Okay, oh boy, oh let's see boop kah, okay, all right, here we go echool all right,
okay, yeah, oh yes, Delton for sure. Yeah, oh yeah, I'm just about a cat's it's a clips I'll be right with you. Hey, for everybody looking at my screen, here, here's Russellville, Arkansas. Right now. H looks like kind of an upside down smiley face. Yeah. Yeah, Jason's wondering around at night. He's back y outlet right right. Oh, I can see it through the clouds now, Oh wow, really in there? Okay? Right, wow, wow wow.
Twenty seconds till NASA launch? How long? Twenty seconds or probably ten seconds? Now? Oh? Get dark? He? Oh so dark? You come? It's dark out here too, is he really? Yeah? Yeah, I mean I got cloud cover whereas looks like, you know, the end of the night. Yeah, it's a lot darker than it was earlier. Paris Lock says off. Look, oh now it's really dark. Alright. What happens if you put your spectacles over the lens? Now it's really Oh, I can see the outline. See the outline and the cloud.
I'm gonna make my own eclipse right here with my head. Yeah, we're noticing. Oh ah, don't do that. Just look at the lights. Okay, okay, yeah you see that. Nah. Oh wait a minute on your solar cam, I could detect it's getting dark. Look your your mobile cam's gone offline? Okas it? Okay, So I want to see somebody capture that ring of fire. Yeah you see that? Leo me, Doug. I'm taking pictures, taking pictures of my camera. Cara NASA is
featuring Hamsai on their livestream right now. Yeah. Oh really, mh that looks freaking cool. Guys, can you see that in the camera at all? Your your mobile camera is offline. I'm watching, I'm watching solar cam. It's definitely again, can you see that? Not really, there's a lot dimmer dot in the middle where the sun was before. Oh good, I mean look at the tree. The tree is black. Oh yeah, I'm waiting to get that blue sky gone. It's darker, isn't it.
Absolutely? Ah, Jason's back with mobile. Oh here we go. Do you go on cooler Jason? Oh yeah, totally cool. Okay, yeah, Jason is about two hundred and fifty miles north of where I'm at. Uh huh okay, oh m. You can see it through the clouds and everything. So it's still getting darker. Your wait, Jason, it's about as dark as it's going to get right now. Okay, so the sun's just now starting to peek through on the other side. Oh wow, yeah, got that see that? Yeah in real time? Yeah, yeah,
it's coming back out now. Okay, I'm going to get my dinner out, I said, Well I've grabbed hung around. That was a good glove. Have some milk for me, Calum lovely. Okay, all right, boys, hey listen, have a good time. Hey, have a go coming out seventy three, seventy three, See it's got see Jason, Kyle, all the see you, Calum, thanks man, bye bye fellas. Yeah, you can see it's coming out now. Yeah, definitely different. Look at that mm hmm. And there it is boom, so bright.
Now you can't tell. Well, you got shadows back on the ground in sunlight hitting your grass there, so yes, yes, it's gonna it's gonna keep getting Oh that's pretty cool. Okay, turned this out. Boom, yep, you know, I have to wonder if it's worth the investment to come up and go buy the gear. So in something like this and we have an event like this that we're prepared for it, next you get some really really good footage. I think it's just so rare. I don't want
to spend all the money on that. Just be so it happens once every couple in twenty years. Yeah, that'd be pretty cool. That's a good selling point, wouldn't it. It was you know, it's kind of like what you're seeing now. The clouds are kind of screwing things up. But you could definitely tell it was darker, but there wasn't. Not really, I didn't know, no ring of fire, no, uh no major detail
like that. That's really gonna be hard to pick up without having some kind of filters that the ammer can actually focus in on it and and uh make it clear. Oh very cool. Yeah, that's a great shot, Jason. Wow. Yeah, but you can still see if there's no yeah, yeah, without a proper filter, you could burn out your uh your sensor. Oh sorry, guys, I was muted. I had myself muted on on obs, but not on uh not on zoom. So you guys were
hearing me. Uh, okay, So yeah, this is the this is the camera that I was uh, this was my phone that I was standing at holding, uh, holding my my phone in my hand outside, and this is what I was trying to film, uh from with the second zoom feed. But that's it. Look. I was hoping that that first camera would pick that up, but I guess it didn't. I didn't really pick it up that much. Still, some once in a lifetime shots you got there, man, Yeah, I mean yeah, I mean that's ye.
It's pretty cool for what it is. I guess it doesn't suck. Yeah. Yeah, So you can see it in the sky right there, there's my intent over on the left. Hmmm. Yeah. So we couldn't see that with that clarity when you were doing it live. Uh, I can see. I can see more detail there. And the clouds are kind of acting like a filter there a little right right. Yeah, the clouds were acting as a filter, and uh, and it was it was I was really hoping that the other camera would pick that up, but I guess not.
So. Huh. If the clouds weren't there, it'd be even more spectacular. I think that's that's still pretty cool. Yeah, it's still it's still pretty slick. Still pretty cool, I think so I can see it again for twenty forty four years, so right, right, what'd say, Kyle? It's getting darker here, is it? Okay? You guys are about to experience what we just saw. I think it's getting lighter outside, but it still looks like it's dusk out there. It doesn't look like normal.
Yeah, it's lightened up here a little bit. Hmm. Pretty cool, pretty cool, Okay, making sure I wouldn't mute somebody else. Somebody said I was still muted, but I'm not. I'm hearing myself on YouTube. Let's see that right there, made a couple of contacts on twenty meter ft eight calling cqs EqP. I was so focused on this video thing, I didn't think to take out my SLR camera and try to get some still
image, some decent still images better than a phone still images. Yeah, but if you zoom in and stuff like that, you really want to have that on a tripod? Yeah? True, Yes, that is true.
We had that super moon a couple of years ago, and I came out in the backyard and try to get can't catch pictures of it, and I'm sitting there leaning up against the wall of my house, put my hand tight inside my my elbows to my sides, and right right, that's going back in grabbed a tripod and got much better shots later, Callum, thanks for joining us, buddy. Oh boy, if I could find it. Why is Kyle miming? He's got people there with him, He's just muted.
That's funny. Yeah, that's funny. We got another I don't know, ten of five minutes here until Oh, it's really darker. You can't see it on the camera. It's really dark. That's how it was here. Yeah, the camera compensates for the low light to a certain degree and you can't really tell, but the shadows look a little bit more harsh where you
are, Kyle. I know this isn't the same thing. But a couple of years ago, when I was living in my condos before he bought our house, I had a telescope and I managed to figure out some way to book my phone up to whatever or my camera. But I shot this lunar shot. Oh nice. It was the lunar eclips and I just took a picture every ten or fifteen minutes during the entire thing. It came out pretty
slick. That does look good, yeah for sure. And you see the detail on he can zoom in on these things and just yeah, a lot of detail in the moon there. That's pretty cool. Yeah, apparently lunar eclipse is pretty pretty common. They happened. Yeah you're still oh yeah, absolutely, it's still something you don't see every day. For sure. That's no moon. Yeah, that's a death star. You have to let us know when it gets to totality. What time is it supposed to get totality
there, Kyle Connor, When when was it? Okay, that's two minutes from now, but mine was My totality was a good fifteen minutes later in what they they said it was would be. Yeah, there's just a little bit slice left. I mean it's darker and uh yeah, there's just a little bit of slice left. Let's see. Let's see what PSK reporters saying. Oh yeah, you know, I totally forgot that. Somebody said I
had a good suggestion. Take your phone out of auto camera mode. Is having an automodi the phone's trying to use the software to compensate for the light, or you put it in a real mode and you can control. It's a good idea. Yeah, too late for us, but right, yeah, well, yeah it's over. According to PSK reporter, it's just in the western side of Tennessee and the southern tip of Missouri. The geochronod probably have would probably have shown some cool images of this. I would imagine.
Is that PSK reporter you're on now, Yeah, this is PSK reporter. Yes, yeah, it got I mean it was. It was pitch black outside for a good four minutes probably, so that was pretty That was pretty cool, even with the clouds because you could tell and then it was like, you know, well, sun's gone waiting for the waiting for the who do they call the Chakari from from the Avengers to kind of come out of
the sky. Mike says he got some cool pictures from his geochron. That's I I imagine so imagined that geochron would be showing some gs k uh k zero b l R PSK reporter dot info. It's a website, PSK reporter dot info. All right, that guy stopped replying to me. Twenty meter ftaight, still seems pretty hot. Look back at ten meters. Ten meters is still hot too, I never did see forty. There was a little
bit on forty. I never saw anything on eighty at all. I don't even think I have an antenna that does one sixty unless the impasse does it. I don't have I don't have room for that. I actually don't even have a room for a full eighty meter in my backyard. I'd have to string it up to the tree in my front yard, which I've thought about doing that, but yeah, technically I don't. I don't have room in the backyard for an Ephra off center fed eighty meters antenna. Mm hmm.
Oh you guys six hundred and one watching and three hundred and three likes. Oh good, okay, yeah, thank you for thanks guys for being here. Okay, Ed, this isn't the clips Rouletta. I just wanted to thank you. I just passed my technician test for him radio. Hey, congratulations, Ed, awesome, congratulations. All right, you guys can't tell, but it is totally dark. It is so dark. Serious. Yeah, it doesn't look like it in your camera, dude, it is. The light is on behind oh yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, the
dust to don lights on. Oh my god, it is. It is so dark. Can you possibly take your phone out of auto the auto setting for the uh uh yeah, don't worry about it. It's getting darker in the camera now, Kyle chickens. It's getting darker now in the camera now, Kyle, all right, yeah, there we are totality awesome. Let's see it. Let's see it. I see stars. Yeah, there's a star right there. Actually it's a planet that should be that should be Jupiter
or Venus. I think, interesting, I can't see the ring. Let's see. You're you're you're cool, you're your parking lot light is brighter than the sun right now? Yeah, I kind of google. Have it looked at, like which one's the sun? Like? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, there it is there. Yeah, yeah, you can see it. Probably is a planet. Scott's probably right, it is a planet. Yeah. If it's twinkles, it's a star. If a dozen, then it's a planet. Get a selfie with the sun. Yeah, oh,
I'm using my my camera, of course you are. Why wouldn't you make them and I'll get it and send them to me. Yeah. It definitely looks considerably darker out there than it was a little bit ago. Yes, yes, agreed, agreed that is wicked and there's yeah, there's a Scott. You said that's Venus. It's either Venus or Jupiter. It's one of those. It's one of the two. I think it might be Uranus. Mars is coming through the sunset. Yeah, yeah, yep. It
definitely feels surreal, doesn't it. It does. And the crickets are out too. Can you hear the crickets? Serious crickets or cricket? That's wild? Oh I just looked up at it. VD VD in the chat says hurry sacrifice something. Yeah. Wow, so it's it's you can see how bright it is already. Yeah. Yeah, you only got probably a couple of minutes then. Yeah, we only got like, yeah, it's two and a half. Yeah, we're on the northern part of Big Yeah.
If anybody out there has that skymap app, you can point that up towards a general direction. It'll show you what planets are in view. Yes, we use that at the Hunting Lease all the time. Yeah, it's pretty cool. Please copy. It's dark outside. You should add a poda. Add Poda to your grid tracker list. A lot of activators out there, you know what, I don't know how to do that. Sean. But yeah, I've seen that done. I knew you could do that, but
I've never really tinkered with that. But that's a great idea. Perhaps I will do that. I'm trying to get the grid Tracker guys to come back, the admins to come back onto the stream. I emailed them. I don't know. It's been a couple months ago now, but there's been several new versions of grid Tracker come out since the last time we had them on the stream. So would love to have those guys come back on the stream.
So if you guys are listening or know the guys the grid Tracker admins, uh, tell them to reach out to me, shoot me an email and get them back on a Sunday night live stream. You know, I just do it. Oh go ahead, sorry, go ahead, No, no, go ahead. I was just saying, if you want to see something kind of cool if you notice this on PSK reporter, but as the moon is blocking out everything, the map on PSK reporter is showing the night map with all the city lights as opposed to the regular Yes, yeah,
I did. Yeah, that's those are those are city lights? Is what that is? Yeah? Yeah, it's like that. That's if you look at this at that city at night, that's all the city lights. Kind of interesting, that's kind of fun. So it's basically in uh, where's that. That's Kentucky right there, and say this is a good part of Missouri headed towards Indianapolis. Burn Burn just posted up. He says, I got two pairs of eclips glasses for sale, y'all five grand each. That's
good. Oh, Shane got a comment in the sky. Where do you see that? It's on hony move it's over so I can see everything. Put it up on the screen here, damn it. Okay, check that out. Oh is that what that is? Wow? That's kind of commet in the sky over the same time that the eclipse was happening. Very cool. Now there's just all kinds of crazy weird stuff happening. Yeah. Trip trippy, Yeah, trippy for sure. Sheesh m. Apparently cern didn't create
a black hole and stuck us all into oblivions. That's a good thing, true. That's always gotta look on the bright side of things. So yeah, that's for sure. Okay, all right, still on ten meters fifty eight for now on the list click more controls, More controls Okay, I didn't see that for poda ah. There it is, I see it. Awesome. Okay, so we got the podah thing going now Apparently did they
did have now we're tanking them a they did have a decent viewing. If it was if if it was as dark as it was here, which presumably it was, and the clouds down there were able to filter it like I did here, I imagine they had a really good showing down there. Yeah, Verne took a couple of shots posted on Facebook. There. All right, guys, we're gonna we're gonna pack up and head toward head to Saint
