Okay, we're going to transition and good evening everyone, Sunday, seven pm in Texas. It's new UTC day zero zero UTC all over the world, just depending on where you're where you're at. So halfy Field Day. Hope everyone had a good time this weekend. And we're gonna bring on a couple of people who, um, we worked field Day this weekend. Some of them were with me and some of them were elsewhere. So if you didn't get the discord invite and you're in the discord, you know the one I'm
talking about, then you're welcome to join us. So somebody go wake up TiO because he paying me about an hour ago, says I want to join, but I'm falling asleep. I'm like, you're an amateur. There's no sun in Wisconsin. I don't know why he's falling asleep after we baked in the sun for four days in freaking Texas. But that's what is. So one quick announcement, real quick, UM, if I can get over over
there. Okay, So a lot of you know that I did a technician live stream with the Hirst Amateur Radio Club in twenty twenty because they used to do a live and I think they're doing it again now. But after everything shut down in twenty twenty four COVID, we decided to do a live stream and that's one of the most popular videos on my channel. The question Pool change about this time last year for technicians and Dan KB six in you Dan
Romanchet came on and did a one day tech class forced last November. That livestream still in my channel, but that's just like a very here's what you need to pass the test and go the Hearst Club. And I are going to do a brand new live stream for the new technician class Pool Deep Dive on July twenty twentieth, twenty first and twenty second, which is a Thursday,
Friday Saturday, and you everybody will be invited. It'll be a live stream and Chris kat five Hiy, who taught the last class, is going to come on with us and he will be teaching the new class with the new question Pool. So that's gonna be really fun. I get a lot of I still got a lot of really good feedback about that. We don't have the exact times yet. It would be Thursday, Friday evening and then Saturday. I don't know the exact times yet, but you guys stay tuned.
Sign up on my email list him Radio two dot com, forward slash email Dash sign up and you can keep up with what we're doing over there. Special shout out to all the folks in Green text who are my YouTube channel members. Appreciate you guys supporting the channel one. Luisa Valentine, thank you for the super chat buddy. Good to see you in the chat. Hopefully you've got some field Day contexts this weekend, so let's let's bring on
the crew and make sure I've got my window transitioned here. So un mute. Hey, hey guys, what's going on. Good evening, everybody. Hey there it is hey field Day crew. So uh yeah, so field Day counts in Canada. So we let Molson into the stream tonight. In fact, if back Nor was working twenty meters last night making a button, he made like a Saskatchewan and m uh mb month, I forget what that stadnoa Manitoba, that's it. And then we we we both found one that
was golf Hotel and I'm like, where the heck is golf Hotel? We didn't know where that was a Greater Toronto area and they changed. Okay, I get greater Toronta. I didn't get that. Yeah, that's that's that's pretty wild. So I did want to. I don't know if n A Yo is in the chat or not, but I am drinking his pastry town he gave me at dayton Um. This is damn it. I can't even
say. We were talking about how bad my ice I was getting. Rocky Road, Rocky Road Imperial Stout aged fifteen to twenty months in bourbon barrels with chocolate ice cream, marshamallows in walnuts. That sounds amazing. It it is amazing. It is. I'm glad you asked it is, na Yo, I expect you to bring some of those to Huntsville. It was. It's it's pretty tasty talking abo. Something happened field Day that hasn't happened in any of the other field days or you other things I go to with both Jason
and Mike. What's that? I came back with some whiskey. I've the bottle at a little left. Yeah, that's a thing. I mean, that's that's a thing that doesn't doesn't happen very often, so it never happens, never happens I'm gonna give the floor to Josh and Adam for a minute because they're in the super super secret, special awesome sauce location. Apparently they're gonna be there till tomorrow. So what's going on, guys? How are you all? He can you hear? It's okay, there's some wind in
there, but I can hear you. Yeah, we're gonna go inside in a second, but we kind of wanted to show you our background. So we are on San Clemente Island still, and we're staying in the cottages here, and we've got this great scenior read to us when we walk outside the place we're staying Friday, and we fly home tomorrow morning to make it back in. So thank you everybody who you chased us and gotten at a super rare grint square of d M zero to our eggs. So very cool.
That's awesome, very cool. Yeah you. I texted with Josh last night. He said they were on fifteen meter f to eight, and I couldn't I couldn't hear you, guys. At the time, fifteen meters was pretty hot until Tannerton thirty kind of started to dwindle down then. But I worked a lot of fifteen meter f to eight this weekend. But I didn't see you guys, but fifteen most of the time on the buddy hecks and we
were having a fantastic time on the buddy heck. But side now because it's it's getting windy, and the rest of the cruise in there too, so we'll cool. Yeah we go, but awesome, it's amazing. Total it is. It is. It looks a lot like well, not the not the water, but when they wo walk inside to their cottage, it looks a little bit like the place we stay in Costa Rica, although our place is much smaller than that. So um, but yeah, kind of a
neat cup. See that's kind of cool, right there. Let's put that, yeah, Russell, we'll pin that back up. There's it done. So oh hey man, it's a beach house. It's supposed to be ruscued. That's right, that's right. There's Austin, Hello, the man who made all this happen. Board games. Let's play some board games I called battleship all all all beach houses at board games. It's a rule. It is a rule. It is a rule. So cool. Okay, Well, yeah, we're we're gonna hang with Josh for a little bit. So,
uh, Mike, who I guess it is not? I guess Mike's probably sleep. Mike and Frank and Shane and I plus a couple of the guys tell him to join the livestream. He doesn't check, He hadn't checked. He probably has no idea. He didn't check. Discord, did you have to text him? Right? Well, no I didn't. I didn't this time. But that's that's not really looks it looks like moon sun tea Okay, yeah, let it sun tea leaden Son out. Okay, So I want to hear about so I know about all about our field day,
and I'll let Shane and Frank talk here in a minute. But let's hear about Moulson. How did it tell us what you said? Um? Well, did you say that after? I don't remember now did you say that before after livestream about new people joining your field day? Well, oh, it was just fantastic. We had some some hands that were more kind of the technician class. So here in canada's basic so they get the same frequency privileges as technician and then we're really on the fire. They Actually I would
have to say, it's been two years since I've been reregistered. I just reregistered with the club locally, and they really lit the fire underneath the club. They're passionate to get out there and so it was awesome. We had a lot of Almer's older gentleman who just just felt like they needed to take them under their wing, and so it really just kind of put life into
the club and it was fantastic and it was really cool. Listen, they drove all the rest of us to to go, you know, you know when they're up till three o'clock in the morning, just because they're they're excited, you know. Like, so it was a great experience. There's there's so much that happened, but uh, the new people can really bring fire to to you know, the multi generations in the hobby. So agreed.
Yeah, Now, what what was your section? Molson? We were Oscar November Echo, Ontario East, and we were we were two Alpha with a go to station. So nice, okay, all right, right, all right, yeah, I joined a TiO stream on I guess it was last night. Was that last night Friday? N Friday night? Okay, Yeah, And I was like, hey, if you have a go to stap ape Ape should go fund to go to station. He can actually get on Nay, yeah, um rs on the air. That's what go to means.
What does go to means for everyone else the air? Get on the air, get on the air, and then what what is that supposed to be? What? How are you supposed to use that station? It is?
I mean somebody else can answer if they want. It is a station run by a licensed HAM, usually not with the club call sign that anyone can walk up to, sit down and make an HF contact if they're if they're a technician, if they have no license at all, they can sit down at the radio and make a contact just to get on the air with third party traffic, to get their feet wack and get them interested in HAM radio. Basically, that's a cool concept. Yeah, yeah, it's it's
fun. But the way it's described in the rules is that it can be the operator has to be either an inactive HAM so someone that may be licensed but it doesn't normally operate on the radio, or someone who's unlicensed. So the intent is to get people on the air that wouldn't otherwise be on the air. I thought it was for technicians also, who do not do not have HF privileges, at least in the USA. Sure, yeah, they could just be an operator then yeah, I think that fits the spirit of
the station there. So yeah, but you get bonus points, you get extra point people doing get on the air. We got we had two folks that got us ten contacts, which we got one hundred points for that. So it's a gateway station exactly, a gateway Yeah. Yeah, it's a gateway station. That's right. I have to be honest. So so, um, there's three new Hams that that don't have HF privileges. They were on the Gota station and I, you know, I'm addicted to running pile
ups. I so I was on a frequency and I got a piloup going and these guys minds were blown, right, So I started, I started, I started. I started to coach them. So they started running pile ups on the Gota station. No, Lie, So the Gota station did over three hundred contacts. That is awesome. That is freaking cool. Yeah, that is really frequently. It was a lot of fun, all right. So Charlie, what, Charlie, what did you do for for field
day? I went with my club that I am a part of. We have our clubs about two hundred and twenty five members, so we had about forty people at our field day. Nice. That's a that's a good group. Yeah. We operated for Alpha Alpha Zulu and our call center was kilo seven kilo and we were on sixty acres of private land that was completely surrounded by Coconino National Forest and so great private and it was just us and had a great time. Got down to twenty eight degrees one night. So jealous,
Oh my gosh that I'm coming to Arizona next year. I know. Really, Jason, we need to go do field day with moles in Canada. Yeah, yeah, we need to go. Yeah, no doubt I was getting I was. I'm dead serious. Listen, I did not sweat at Daytim, I did not. I was dripping wet yesterday. So it was not a like, oh it's Canada's cold. It was, but it wasn't one hundred and twenty degrees. No, it wasn't. But it fell like, well it might be Shane might be exaggerating a little bit. Where
we well to eat index. Yes, the heat, it's very true. The heat in decks. Yeah, there was a there was a pre field day highlight or I don't know what you want to call it, but I was. I was. We were setting up the radios and I thought, you know, let me just check the bands and see if there's somebody doing
soda right now. And so I was spending the dial and I all of a sudden I heard K six a r k Oh my gosh, and I didn't have a paddle, so I hurried and ran and grabbed a somebody borrowed somebody's and plugged it in and I didn't have the right adapter, so I had to plug it into I had to plug it into the straight key jack and use the left paddle, and uh, and I work, Adam. I wanted to get that content. That was pretty cool. Love it. I was like, oh, Charlie's using a straight key. Yeah. Question
is really slow today. How can you tell if it was a straight versus A and that's a that's a that's a long question. It's just just got you just gotta do. You just know, all right, You got to get used to listening to it. It's like when people and I don't understand this myself, like people can identify there's almost signatures you can fill. Yeah, they fist like you can recognize someone's fist once you've heard it enough. And I'm like, I don't get I haven't. I'm not that advanced yet.
I can't do that. But yeah, there's a way I can recognize bugs that I hate hearing them. I love the mechanical sexiness of a bug key. Yeah, but they send their their DAWs at like ten words a minute and their dits at fifty. I saw you, I saw you showing off that it was sixty six degrees there. Um, well you can't see that it's still ninety eight. That's that's just parent's wrong. Well, let's go. Carlos joined after Steve, but Steve turned his camera off. That's
why he's on the bottom. So I'm gonna let Steve go next. What'd you do for field day? Man? So my club gets together every year and we put up a lot of antennas, we set up a lot of stations, and we make no contacts. It's so what we did was we got a we got a fan dipole for twenty and forty up in the air. We got a JPC seven, which is the Buddy Pole, the Chellicons Buddy Pole. Oh yeah, set up and then we got we took the repeater off the air and we used that for APRS, and but we didn't
we didn't make a single contact. We had one, two, three, four, We had four stations at least, and we had a couple more stations we could have set up, but we didn't. And then Scout seventy five and I we played all day long getting his Raspberry pie set up and getting it on APRS. We set up an eyegate and a Digi Peter and I didn't know what we were doing, but that's that's the funny field day. Yeah, Hey, that's a fun of Ham Radio for a good deal.
Okay, cool man, that sounds like what call sign? Did you guys operate as W nine W A R Whiskey nine whiskey Alpha Romeo whiskey nine war. I think I would have remembered that if I would have worked at war stations, if you would have been on the air. I think I don't think I've worked the worst, although I worked a lot of worked a lot of FT eight where I was just kind of clicking yes, clicking yes, clicking yes. And Shane Shane showed the riveting excitement about three stations all
working ft eight at the same time. Whatever was that a shorter Instagram? Yeah, I put it on TikTok and I put it on as YouTube short. Okay, all right, Jason, I got a really cool thing that I want to share. Cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah, go ahead. Man. My thirteen year old son, Nathan has been in the Shock with me, and you know obviously watched and I brought him yesterday. The reason why I brought him, don't tell him, is because my wife was
like concerned that him and his sisters would fight while she wasn't home. Yeah, and eight o'clock at night, I was like, you know, but I'm gonna drive you home, and he's like, no, Dad, I don't want to leave. Like he got on the air, he made contracts and he was talking. He was talking with the older gentleman too. So he stayed till one o'clock in the morning with me this morning. Wow,
and he wants to get his license now. And so it's just crazy, how like here on my shock, I got all this nonsense, all this and it was field day that that kind of put a fire under his butt. So you know, to me, it's kind of exciting. It's also really cool that the older gentleman in the club took the time to hang out and talk and converse and on a lot of different topics with a thirteen year
old kid. So, you know, I know a lot of I know sometimes I'm gonna be saying a lot of crap has said about clubs and people and old people. But let me tell you something. They made it. They made a difference not only in my son's life, but other people's License weekend, So it was really cool. It was cool. Good. Hey,
that's a great story, man, Thanks for sharing that that. I've told the story before how I got licensed in ninety four and I was heavy into it for two or three years, and then I dropped it for one to three years, and then I picked it back up. At the end I dropped again. I picked up. It was when I got my general
ticket, like freaking eighteen years later, like two thousand. I don't know what would that be to twenty twenty twelve or something, twenty thirteen summer, and I don't remember when it was that when I got HF and went to field day for the first time, it wasn't really necessarily because of field day, was because of HF. Overall, I haven't put him radio down since then, so it's it's much more for me. For me, it's much
more enjoyable to be on HF than it is doing the other stuff. I still like repeaters, but I really I really enjoyed HF and that's that's kind of what's kept me hooked for the last ten years. Don't tell my wife, but that's what it is. She might take away all my HF radios. It only took me thirteen years to upgrade from technician to in general, so I'm pretty sure that. I'm pretty sure I have you beat on that. I think it was eighteen years for me. So I'm a slow learner
and uh and lazy. I'm very lazy. I just got bored during COVID and was looking for something to do. So well, there you go. Speaking of wives, here's here's a good one from Field Day Fall. Okay, so you know, for my live stream, we have myself and uh Brian W seven jet and Dan Casey seven MSU, all of the uh somebody whoever he's got that plane in the background. Mute please yeah, Jason, whatever, go ahead, go ahead, Charlie. Sorry, Yeah, all
of our wives were there. Dan's wife is not licensed mine as a general and uh so's and I think Brian's is at least a general. But none of them really had done a contest. My wife does soda, and I think Brian's wife doesn't really like she just does FTA and doesn't like to get on the mic. But the three of them, we're helping each other out
and we're running for quite a while on field day. Uh and and we're I mean, of course they had a pilot because it was three women running, you know and calling c Yeah, so one of them was logging, one of them was calling, and then the other one was standing and kind of helping and turn you know, I call out the call signs as they were coming in. It was amazing, it was great. None of them really had done this before, so they were excited. Yeah that's great.
We Uh my wife stopped by for like, I don't know, ten minutes, well, probably longer than ten minutes. Um, yeah, she had dinner, probably an hour. She's probably there an hour yesterday. And Shane, I think it was a Noah's Noel. It was Noel who said, hey, get the record button out on the on the FTDX ten and have her call CQ and her voice, and I'm like, that's actually a very good idea, idea. We didn't ask her to do that. She kind
of looked at the sideways. I'm like, all right, it's it's fine, hey, because she got her general like a year and a half, a couple of years ago, and uh, she's never used it. She's like, I might want to do parks on the I was explaining to her parks in the air. She went and joined the Facebook group and she she created herself a photo account. I didn't do that for her. She did
herself. She's very she's very Internet savvy. She's not she works in she's a CPA, but she does a lot of tech and it stuff inside the CPA thing. So um so she's she doesn't have any problems with any of that. But yeah, so she'll come to me and she'll ask me question. She goes, I'll read this on the Poto Facebook group today, and I'm like, really, if you know about that, it's kind of fun. It's kind of fun. Uh yeah, So t O, thank you
for joining intro. Appreciate that, Josh. I'm not just a YouTuber. I'm also a member. That's good yeah, two months, that's right. Yeah, yeah, yeah and uh in six kvs A remember for twenty months, So good deal. Thanks guys. I appreciate y'all supporting the channel. Let's go to Carlos. I want to Carlos. I want to hear how many times you jump out of a plane during field day? Zero? Absolutely zero, it's fair. Get off of my channel. Here's the thing.
I was like, you know what I'm gonna I'm gonna get my stuff. Just go make a couple of jumps of the local drop zone. It they only go to nine k, but it'll be worth it, just for fun. And then my club said, we're not gonna bother working yet and I'm like, what the hell's the point six stuff? Five two? Man? Come on, yeah, that counts for field day, simplex, let's go. They're like only zid band and I'm like, oh my god, dude, like Carlos, Carlos, next time, next year, come to Texas.
We'll let you jump out of a plane over our our dear leases as often as you want you can. We got a big air balloon. Yeah yes, yeah, that Shane has a really good idea. I'm gonna ask him to talk about here in a minute. But yeah, tell us what you did do, Carlos. Uh so I did a little bit of just spinning the dial and hunting from home, using the club call, not the club call. Might call him the club in the log um, you know that dual credit thing. Yeah. And then what was that, Sagan,
the Whitney County Armature Radio Club. You didn't respond fast enough. I was busy. Yeah. Um, I actually went to the to one of the clubs, and I'm a member of two clubs. And uh, I worked a radio and you know, nobody told me that this let's say, go to station all the all the cart because I made on that station, don't count? Oh what the club president came in about an hour later, What are you doing on this station? I'm like making contacts this field day.
He goes, this is the go to station. None of your count none of your long contact account. Maybe put a sign on it next time, you know. It turns out they did have a sign on it. It's just that we had storms coming through last night and the storm blew the sign off and nobody put it back on your luck. Yeah, so no big deal, you know, no big deal, Like I still got thirty so much contacts at home. Uh, Jim called me an idiot. Yeah,
he saw the video that I plusted early at two o'clock. I thought Field Day was over at two o'clock in the afternoon Easter my time, right, and I put up a video showing the showing the bands are clear, because they really were, like like at two o'clock the bands just yeah, yeah, they died at one fifty nine. I couldn't find three k of open space to save my life wide open. Yeah. Yeah, the the eight r L does that. They turned the bands off and on every for twenty
four hours every year Field Yeah, yeah, that's their fault. Yeah. I asked K five Ata that question directly and he's just like, um, um, you got any coffee? He just really sidestepped question, you know.
So I kept making context after after two o'clock until a storm rolled through here and I was like, you know what, I'm not risking this, and I'm glad I didn't because I put my antenna down just in time to see trees come down, and I'm like, I made the right call here, Otherwise then it might be snatched totally again, totally yeah again again again all right, Shane, I want you to tell everybody which you had idea you had for next year. So Shane is a Shane is a pilot and
he's working on getting his blood. Have you finished that yet? I don't know, but he still work down. Yes, Okay. I've been a pilot for twenty good lord, twenty three years. Damn year old, I know, right, And so I got this wild hair last year to get to get my right. My lighter than air Commercial LTA, so I can
fly hid balloons. So my idea for next year was to take one of the balloons out, tether it and I have these I have three three hundred foot ropes, so we could take the balloon up to two hundred feet, so we would have a basically a floating tower and we could do aeronautical mobile mm and we've got we got one hundred and seventy five acres. Yeah, you can do that, so yeah, wide open. Yeah, yeah,
that's gonna be a thing. I think it would have to be on the unlike um, Sunday morning, because I wouldn't want to do it in the afternoon with one of the ropes. Exactly, you could you can have power from shore exactly. Well yeah, well then you would, I guess you'd still be aeronautical mobile because you're still floating in the air. Biowindo, man, biowinno. That's tough. But you need like one hundred amp power battery and that would put a lot basket. I mean yeah, I mean the
baskets. There are the balloons rated to lift twenty seven hundred pounds, So I think we could put a couple of bio when I was in there. If it's just you could do that. Take a tech prepper man pack up there with you. Now there you go, yeah, yeah, that'd do it. Or take the MIC's three yeah, Mike, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. So Jody's saying, mounted buddy Hecks is a top hat. No, no, no, you put it on the bottom of the basket. You put it as like an upside down umbrella. That would be a
Buddy hecksppointed the wrong direction, that'd be that'd be cool. I bet we could get Chris to sponsor that. I was like, hey, dude, we're gonna put your buddy Hecks on a balloon you want to sponsor, I'm gonna lift hang hang it down below us right right totally. How are the batons for you? Guys. So that was another question I was going ask you everyone, So I'm gonna I'm gonna say something, and I want to know what everyone's opinion on this is. The bands were actually quite quite good,
and I saw Adam say something in the chat earlier. Six meters. Sadly six meters was on fire on Thursday and maybe Friday, maybe Friday morning as well, and then like when the weekend rolled around, it was pretty much dead. I listened to six meters for about it. I turned on six meters for about twenty minutes about three different times throughout the weekend, and
I think I saw like one or two stations. It was just nothing on six meters because six meters ft eight has been has been really solid, the lasting up and down, but really solid. The last month or so here um ten meters. I didn't see much on ten meters at all. Uh fifteen was on fire or the whole weekend twenty you couldn't find a place in the dial on sideband forty. We had a lot of noise on forty in our location, and that's something I need to track down myself. But it's
not it's nobody's fault, it's just location. That was interesting, though it was so intermittent. It was intermittent, so I gotta be it. There's a there's a there's power line, telephone poles on power lines running down the dirt road that runs through the property. And I suspect there's a bad transformer or something in there because it isn't remittent. I think it's across the street. It could be. Yeah, there's a there's a it's either a natural
gas pump or I don't think it's an oil well. But I think it's a natural gas well across the road from us. And so that's probably one hundred and fifty yards or so from where we are, but um, maybe two hundred yards from where we are. But it's it's not It could be that as well. I don't know. But yeah, forty. We we got some contacts on forty, but we didn't try it. We didn't try eighty or one sixty at all. So talk commands, talking about the bands
man right at one o'clock. This was the first year I was able to jump on the radio and those bands lit up at one o'clock. I'm telling you, a double L turns on a switch. That's that's my theory. No one's proved me wrong on that. Yeah, that's my theory. Any frequency, Like I put my call our calls club call out, I had three people answer. I'm like, which one of y'all I'm talking to here? Because I was answering Guy A and Guy B and C came back on trying to work me. Yes, like yeah, y'all, go away,
you're You're not. I wasn't trying to talk to you. Uh yeah, take command, Frank, take that mand Yeah, well hey, hey, you know what And if Frank, you and I both did this, I'm not. I'm not bagging on you. I'm really not. But you and I both are so used to working PODA that I caught myself almost calling CQU Poda instead of c Q fiel day Company times, and and and and saying my own call sign instead of K and five tr club call sign. So I'm just like crap. I was like, man, I need to get
out of PODA mode. Yeah, oh yeah, you're five nine. Oh no, you're not, you're three alpha or texting? Yeah, yeah, it was. It's poda is Poda is awesome. I love Poda, but it's hard to get out of that rut. Yeah, that so, what's that, Adam. I heard a guy calling winter Winterfield dead. Oh, that must have been Charlie when it was twenty eight degrees. Yeah, it's probably it's probably those Arizona guys when it was middle of the night or something.
So my experience was I made the ribs and those were awesome. They were good. They were good. And that was Friday. I really enjoyed this year, not cooking anything on the Saturday of so I can jumped on the radio right at right at the get go. I enjoyed that. And and just the friends that we had around all weekend. It was amazing to hang out for everybody and just relax and chill and play radio. Yeah. Absolutely, so I noticed. And this didn't seem to last very I'm want
to know what everybody else thought about this. This didn't seem to last very long. I was hoping Kyle would be on the stream tonight because he has U he has experienced and what I'm about to say, there were a lot of overdriven signals for like the first three or fourt Now, let me let me let me clarify what I'm saying here. I think a lot of these guys were working remote and using computer microphones which suck or which that well,
they're sucked. And that's why it was overdriven. That's why I was talking about Kyle. Not that Kyle overdrives his stuff, don't. I'm not. I'm not trying to bag on Kyle. I'm really not. Although he's not
here so we might as well. But No, there were a lot of really like like these guys would come back, like I'd be calling c q c Q field Day and this guy would come back to me and I swear he was sitting in the lot next to me with his eleven meter amplifier cranked up to maximum volume, with the with the mic game turned all the way up, and I'm like, dude, I can't even understand what the hell you're saying. Yep, you know, And it was there was a lot
of background noise. It sounded like oh, and there were a lot of guys who were apparently using the Galaxy eighty eight because they were running their echo white Ope. It was like c q c Q field day, field Day, field Day, field Day, And I'm like, dude, go back to channel nineteen, what is wrong with you? So I don't know if these guys were just in loudass rooms with no carpet on the floor or I don't know, but that seemed that seemed to last like the first for me.
For us, I noticed that the first three or four hours, and then it kind of seemed to die down after that, and I didn't know so much anymore. It was, you know, hard to work people because they were literally right by us, sounded like right by us. And I can write, yeah, I can't make a word out never so distorted. Yeah, if you say Kyle's name enough, he's like candyman, he shows
up Jesus. That kind of reminds me of Uh. So, there's a lot of older Hams in our club that have HF privileges, but they're never on HF. And so I was sitting with one running a pile up and I would say. I said to him, I said, you can tell the guys that are running power, you know, yes, and and and he's like, what do you mean. I said, well, listen to the way it sounds right. And so it's really funny when like a guy who's been licensed for I don't know, three years, because I'm on HF
all the time. But anyways, there's a lot of guys who were running power. I'd say that not well not okay, a small percentage, but you know, you'd hear it Um running power, and it was kind of like, all right, Cheeter, you know what, there's nothing, there's nothing. There's nothing wrong with q R. O okay, but learn how to tune up your stuff, man, you know, don't don't tell us Adam needs to put his hands over his ears. There's nothing wrong with q
R. Yeah, well that's true, that's true. Yes, but these guys were either oh my god, these I don't know. I don't know, these these guys were. I guess you could do it with like a twenty or thirty dB game antenna. You're not power, but I don't know. I mean when when you're running six y on field day? Yeah, everybody else day there was one station we I swear. I was like, that's an AM station. Guy. They're like, no, no, it's not, it's not an AM station. I'm like, holy glad up.
So yeah, anyway, anyway, Kyle, welcome to them on this buddy. Tell us about your field day experience. Yeah, it was good. We Um. I went to my club and helped set up for a while and then I did the tour around Saint Louis. I think I hit five field days throughout the Saturday. So clubs, yeah, all clubs. All people either are cool, small clubs, big clubs. It was very light this year because of the heat. There was a lot. It was hot here, so in years past there had been more people at some of these
clubs. But yeah, it was good. The bands were okay. I came home on Sunday night late and I'm sorry Saturday night and got some sleep and got up the morning this morning and did some did some running and bands
were this morning twenty was great. I was hitting the coast. Yes, I have noticed in the past that if you a lot of guys would just kind of hit the ground running when one o'clock, I'd say one o'clock, when eighteen hundred UTC gets here, or just hit the ground running, and then like by late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, you've got the same
stations on there calling CQU field Day and you've worked them all. So my theory has always been I was like, you know, just wait like six hours and then start working people because they're they're gonna want to work you because there are a call sign you haven't heard before, So I don't know.
I mean, it's just it depends on propagation obviously, But um yeah, I always always thought that, you know, do a delayed field day and actually work the guys who were up on Saturday night late and Sunday morning and Sunday late morning. See see how that works. I've always just seeing you to say that, because go ahead, I was gonna ask Kyle that satellite contact you posted this weekend, was that may during field day? And what
did you register that for your club? No? No, I didn't even take my satellite stuff to day the clubs because I knew that, Um I was. I'm too busy socializing and just hanging out to do any of that stuff. So yeah, Charlie, I was just gonna say, our club, they do an interesting thing. I'm not sure I agree with, but
it's kind of on the line with what you're talking about. So right at eighteen hundred UTC, we hit the ground for a couple hours to three hours, and then lights are out, we have like a pot luck lunch, Lenard, I guess it's yeah, yeah, and there's no operation until that's over, and then we have a raffle drawing and we have the field day pictures and everything. Then it's probably dinner time before we start back up again. But I you know, it works for us. That's good, you
know, I mean, it depends on propagation. The propagation lately has been pretty good, although again I was I was really hoping to do some six meter contacts this Fiel day and we didn't get to do that. But if the bands are dead, then you're not gonna work very many people at all. But if the bands are alive, twenty meters was it was? You
know? It was? Yeah, So Brian and I are the only two CW ops, So it was he and I were basically the only two to run and c W the whole time, and we had no reason during the day up until about, I don't know, until till it got dark to get to move off of twenty meters. When it got dark, we were on forty the whole time until about eight am, and then we moved back to twenty. We had no reason to go anywhere else. So that's that's
how that's how they get The conditions were in our mind, dude. That's so you're a hardcore about this, I go to bed, no things. We went to bed too. We operated till late, you know, I don't know, tennish, and then I went to bed, and then I got up at five, So over the middle of the night we didn't really do too Yeah, get getting up at five does that doesn't compute? But we I was up. Um, I was up till probably eleven eleven thirty
last night working and fifteen meters actually finally died. I'd say it died. It it The waterfall wasn't as full when I shut the computer off it like eleven fifteen or so last night, so there were still stations after calling CQ field day, so that that was fun. But um, we're so, is the CW portion of the band? Is it hard to find a clear frequency to call CQ like it is on sideband. It's a little easier, I think easier, but it's pretty it's still pretty hard sometimes. Go ahead.
It's a lot easier because CW is so narrow in bandwidth. You can and just you know, set your filter down narrow and you can be every you know, maybe two hundred, two hundred hurts, three hundred hurts and and still have a clear enough frequency to be able to operate, so there's plenty of room and it's way easier to work people. I wondered about that because, if I'm not mistaken, on most bands, the CDW portion of the band is narrower than the sideband portion of the phone portion of the band.
And also um CW is more low noise. It's it's it's a it's a lower noise signal than sideband. Is a little bit, a little bit harder to make sideband contact than CW. So I'm like, well, given those two features, I would think that they'd be pretty full, that that section of the band would be pretty full. But okay, I mean that's good to know. It's good information. That's why I asked. Yeah, well, I mean that you could find spots, but it's still i mean,
end to end, it's pretty there's somebody there. Yeah, okay, did you guys, did you guys hear the have a lot of interference or from the European contest that happened this weekend. No, nothing here. So there's there's certain periods where there's a lot of europe There's a European contest that was happening, So it was started, it started became there. You know, people will be like CQU contest, contest, and then you just by the accident, you'd have to you know, okay, that's not the contest.
I'm working. Good luck. I did hear a guy. I did hear. I believe this guy was. I want to say he was South American. I want to say it was a Hondura Hotel India station, or perhaps a Papa Yankee station, but it could have been an Echo alpha. It could have been a Spanish station, because I did hear some Spanish station and there was a guy with a Spanish accent, Latin American or traditional Spanish.
I don't remember calling CQU contest and then I'm like, are you working field day or what is there some other I didn't know what contest he was talking about. It doesn't better. You could still take their content, of course, and I tried to call him back and he wouldn't come back to me, so I wasn't making it to him modly. But yeah, yeah, very well. If he was in South America, he was running about three to four kW. Yeah, so I'm just saying true. I'm just
saying, well. One of the issues we had a field day was antennas not a major issue, but with the three stations, especially the GODA, I think it's been I might be wrong, but it's been quite a while since our club had an actual field day. And um so, out of like the huge box of antennas, only one worked and another guy brought one and so we tried at Jerry Reagan antenna. It didn't work. So I came home. I climbed on my tower. Oh no, I took down. I don't like where this is going work. Oh wow, I took
down. I took down my G five RV Junior and we hope better. Yeah, and and that thing was a rock star and uh, but we had issues with antenna's. It took like it was. We spent a lot of time. I'm getting the antenna's going. But uh, at the end of the day, and Jason, I googled this quickly. I saw a video of yours. One of our club members was saying about getting two stations on one antenna, and you did a video. Uh, two radios one antenna. This was the Triples. I don't think that that was me.
No, no, no, that's a bad video. You, I swear, but I didn't watch. Do not Google that I do not do, not freaking google that listen. I didn't I didn't watch the video. I didn't watch the video, so it could have been the idea of putting an antenna switch. Okay, but but but I was like, I don't think, I don't think. I am no, no, no, I'm this. I'll look it up. But um so, I now Carlos Carlos talking about cargistered Carlos is a deviant and that's why he's laughing harder than anyone else's
right now. He knows exactly what you're talking about. This guy, Yeah, okay, all right, you go ahead saying. He almost got angry at me, and I was like, you want to run two and ten? I was, I mean two radios on one and ten. At the same time, He's like, yeah, I'm like, I don't know. I have a tri I have a triplex. I have a triplexer. For the buddy HECKX, they make a pen. They make a penteplexer, which is five bands. It's ten through twenty ten, twelve, fifteen, seventeen,
and twenty. I didn't buy that because it's literally twice the price to get twelve and seventeen. I bought the triplexer from DX Engineer. He's like three fifty for the triplexer, about seven hundred for the penteplexer. The triplexer would do ten, fifteen and twenty, which are your non work bands, which are the field day bands. I bought that a couple of years ago, so we can use Buddy Hecks to do a station on ten, fifteen and twenty sideband. In fact, that's what Frank and I were on.
Faker and I both had our FTDX tens. He was on twenty meters sideband. I was on fifteen meter ft eight. Both on the Buddy hacks all weekend. So yeah, absolutely, right there, Jason, look at that face right there. Yeah, that's my two radios. Okay. I've probably had a couple of beers since then. All right, So I want to I want to say hi to Don and Jim, and then I have a question for you guys. That something that came up a couple of three weeks
ago. But it's it's an intent of question, So I curious to see what you guys want to how you guys will answer it. Don, what's going on, Buddy? Did you work field Day this weekend? Yeah? I did, but I just want to let everyone know something thanks to Molson, somebody just charged my credit card to what he was talking about. So I don't know what what what kind of sites you he has? Nobody somebody somebody Molson spending your money? Yeah, yeah, somebody just fans seriously only
as hey. I had fun with my with my club. We did something a little bit different this year. I took the ten zero seven n fed sloper to balance about sixty seven feet and I ran it as a inverted V. Now, normally I run that as a sloper randed as the inverted V. It did fairly well, but here in Connecticut, um, I didn't like how the bands were operating on twenty and forties. So, you know, like any other good hamd what do we do? How do we plan
for? When? Or when do we start planning for field day for next year? Right away? And I'm gonna and I'm gonna query my group to see if they want to do something. Don't do it at the two o'clock start time. Let's do something for maybe six or seven o'clock, five o'clock in the year on the east clock start time. Well, yeah, you're
time. I'm sorry. The correct times time because when I big so when I left, when I left our site and I got home around six o'clock o'clock from right from this Loka, I was using my seven or six mark two G. I think I did close to eighty nine contacts in about in about three hours. Three and a half hours. M forty was incredible. Twenty was good. I worked Frank and I don't know who else. I heard that I was sitting. I was sitting next to Frank. If we
were working separate call signs, I would have picked up the mic. But you got our club calls, so that was Yeah, that was cool. I heard you work, Frank. That was cool and it was hard. I gotta tell you soon because I was pulling in Arizona. I worked California. I worked the Lax identifier, which has really been hard lately. But I gotta Tyson. It was fun, man, It's all about having fun, camaraderie, trying something new. But I want to do something different next
year. I think here for for us in Connecticut, and like I said, we got three hundred and sixty four days to figure it out. You should join us in Canada with Nelson. Yeah, we're gonna go up there and take We're gonna take jackets and heaters up there and have a real field day for winter field day. So we're gonna do no no, no like like apparently apparently it's it's like cold in Canada or during this time of year. Sorry, and you're in Connecticut. You don't know what he is.
I mean, you get the refund. Let me get that refund that somebody just charged me on that because I went to that site that he was just I won't fly the money towards it. Yeah, that sounds great for Steves, that that'd be a beautiful place to have a field. That's a great. Hey, you could put an intent on top of that water tower right there. Yeah, there isn't ladder line. I can't see it. No, but that doesn't mean anything. I see it. Yeah, double Jason,
did you talk about the set up at the dear least? I mean, I need just slide out of the ways you can see the picture. You didn't talk about what we were doing, what radios and no. But I I was gonna. I was waiting. I was waiting to put us last. Okay, So so I was I was inviting all my guests first as maybe maybe Ham Radio Clubhouse didn't do that. I don't know. You guys a bunch of jackets. They will let nothing. Yeah, they'll let the guests in after an hour or two, right right? Yeah? Yeah,
oh yeah, we got a guest tonight. I think who is it again? Yeah? Remember that next time you begged to come on to the show, Frank, Yeah, busted, Frank. That's right. Let's go to Jim Man. What do you do for field day? Bud ft eight lots. That's great, there's nothing wrong with that. That's it. I don't really I don't have a club I hang out with or anything, so I don't have any big plans. I just I did. I did get frosty and put it on a battery for a little while, and I got
tired of that. Now, Jim, are you up in Where the heck are you? Are you in Wisconsin or Chicago or no, I'm I'm from Chicago. I live in Alabama. Okay, maybe I'm thinking of where you're where you said you were. Yeah, yeah, so you're in Alabama. Yes, Okay, it's like it's probably I was gonna say it's probably hot down there for you guys as well, right, and swamp like absolutely, yeah, yeah, okay, you should want to join Joe Brett. Joe
Brett like two hundred three hundred miles away from me. It's not that far a drive that's like that's like a court that's like a third of the way through Texas. That's and it's just the swampy at Joe Brett's house as it is here. So yeah, I'm saved the gas. Speaking up, where is Joe Brett? I don't know. He was on. He put a he put a video up. No one was watching some video from Joe Brett like last night during while we were operating, and he's like that guy's out
of focus and I'm like, really, Joe bretton maybe he's drunk. I don't know too much. Peanut butter whiskey probably for that dude. So that's good. No, it is still calling CQ. Yeah, a call on CQ. Carlos, did you tell him about the club you went? I did my club? Well, I told you you called me an idiot, for I did not call you an idiot. I just said, hey, dude, you realize it's not over yet. For like about two hours. Yeah, my club shot down at two o'clock, and so that the other
club and I'm like, one must be over at two o'clock. It is two, it's two o'clock eastern. Well, there's a difference if you set up your antennas beforehand, if you set it up after it ends at eighteen hundred or seventeen fifteen nine UTC. Negative is that new this year? It
always used to. It always needs to be twenty four hours. No, no, no. The rules are if you not if you're a club, well I don't know if you're if you need to be a club, but if you if you do not start putting up antennas after eighteen hundred UTC, you can work those extra hours, which we did. Yep, that's what
you guys did. Josh. Yeah, Um, you guys were talking really quick because I know you guys have kind of already covered us, but you were talking about the weather conditions one hundred and something in Texas for instance. Yeah, funny day out on the island, but we got hit with it was like twenty five mile an hour way and like some righteous wins out there. Yeah, buddy, your your your high iPad hates you right now.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that was crazy. Ye so there was a There was a year at winter field Day a couple of years ago where I had the Buddy Hecks up and there was win so bad at winter field Day in January where I took a video of this because it kept happening. I sent it to Chris and it literally went ninety degrees and popped right back, and then it went ninety degrees again, and it kind of stayed there for like two seconds and it popped right back, and I sent that to Chris
and I'm like, dude, this thing's actually pretty resilient. It's actually kind of fun to watch this day breaks. I need you to send me a new one. But yeah, yeah, no he did. It didn't break it. It survived the whole thing. So yeah, the Buddy Hecks is great. And wind like that, Yeah, that would have been. That would have been tough. We had thirty mile wins, but it was the
day before so we were lucky. But that that would have been We would have had a hard time throwing up our antennas into the trees with the wind like that. Man, it would have been a tough one. We did not have. We didn't not have much wind. We had a nice breeze all weekend, which was welcomed because it was so hot. Yeah, but yeah, it's typically not windy in June in Texas, but it is windy oftentimes, not all the time. Oftentime, it's windy in January, so
winterfield days usually when we have to contend with wind. But good. That was a good choice of antenna, Josh, because that thing will will stand up to it for sure. We had a lot. In fact, the one that Adam brought his twenty meter half square right was was fantastic. It was really really good. In fact, Adam ran twenty most of the time, and I did fifteen sideband or FT eight or both. We had some issues with radio, so it was a lot of FT eight you did sideband.
I did a few sideband contacts, but we had some strong local rum mystery sources. It was just it was a lot easier to work to SEW stations than bideband stations, so I did mostly Okay, I got on fifteen meter sideband yesterday, or let's see Saturday afternoon, I got on Saturday evening
dinner time. Maybe I got on fifteen years sideband and I just tuned up and down the band I'll tell you what, everybody who's on twenty meter sideband that can't find a freaking spot, go down to fifteen, because my god, it is. I mean, there's like five kill five killer hurts between each station, and every station you hear out there is like ten over five
nine. It's just radical. And so I just worked up and down the band and went back and did a did a search and pounce to all the people calling CQ, and I probably made fifteen twenty contacts just hunting on fifteen meters sideband where the real hands are. Yeah, I know it well, you know I thought about I thought about changing around, but I got on twenty and twenty was just butter. I didn't have to do anything except member was scampacked. Twenty was on fire, I mean, and it always is.
Twenty twenties, always twenties, always on fire sideband in field day, I'm telling me, blo. They turned, they flip a switch somewhere they do they flip. Fifteen meters is a neat band. I found twenty meters. I found twenty meters east again. This is East coast side band. This is around eight o'clock my time, nine o'clock. I came off of forty. Just like you guys. I went up and down, up and down, up and down, and then I said, let me let me
try twenty right, can't hear the guys in Ohio. Uh, Missouri was coming in Utah again, Arizona was coming in California, was coming in Colorado, Montana, South Dakota. It was really really nice to work that section that normally is such a struggle for us, and this part of the of the solar cycle. So who knows, maybe it was the switch like you
said, but it was fun though. Man twenty was really interesting because there were times when we were really long and we were hitting places like Connecticut, and then there were times where we were hitting Arizona and Colorado and Nevada on twenty meters and so that's really short. Yeah, I was crazy. Feel I heard a lot of really good sounding stations out of Arizona. When I
had my buddy Hecks pointed north. That thing is supposed to be directional, it's not, okay, So you got to point north, and I'm hearing stations in Pennsylvania and in Arizona and a lot of really good sounding stations. But the thing, I the thing I loved is that it's hard Texas. In the middle of the country. It's hard to get Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota, which is a straight north shot.
Even if your intendant's pointed north. It's hard to get those because the propagation usually goes east west station Poda, I can't get it right those We got all five of those states. This, in fact, a lot of really good sounding stations from Kansas, but I got a few from Oklahoma, one or two from Nebraska. I got one or two guys from South Dakota, and the guy from North Dakota. I'm like, dude, thank you for being the only Ham radio operator in North Dakota the key up this weekend.
I really appreciate you being out there. Yea. So it's yeah, I mean, it's it's very odd. It's I shouldn't say it's odd. It's very rare to get stations due north. I may. I don't know if you guys are the same way due north of wherever you live, or maybe perhaps due south if you're in Connecticut. But yeah, east west is easier, but due north is is a lot harder for us out here. They don't call the mid or the mid Parson of the United States the black
hole for nothing. It's very true, that's very true. All right. We haven't heard the solo cycle real quickly. So well, yes, well it's so different if you go back to where where solar cycle twenty four was the last few years playing field day, win your field day, PoTA, it's such a different We have to almost get like retrained. Yeah, on where you are again. That's half the fun of it, you know, yes, correct, I want to hear from Chuck. We haven't heard from
Chuck yet. What's up, buddy? How are you doing good? Um? I mean I didn't do anything for field day except Chase. I chased Josh and Adam there a little bit trying to get him on six, but it just wasn't working. Nice. I can get into Fresno, which is about halfway most of the time. I mean, well, it's in the evenings when they do the Bozo net. But so I thought maybe we could do it. But there's probably a bunch of stuff between us and didn't.
I didn't hear anything on six. You guys actually were hearing stuff on six, right, I only check I only checked six meter what I said before you join, Chuck was we set up on Thursday and it was either Thursday or Friday morning. Six meters was lit like the band scope was freaking red fire. It was Thursday night, okay, yeah, it was on fire. And then by the time Saturday gets here was just dead. We didn't make any official field day contacts on six meters ft eight at all because it
was just there was nothing. I checked it like three or four times and I listened for like ten minutes each time. I'm like, there's nothing happening out here right now. And I was disappointed because six meters ft has been great for the last couple of weeks out. I've done good on six more local than anything else, though a couple of years ago counts. But you know, we had that opening, uh what a week or so ago, and I was only using ten watts and I went coast to coast on ten.
Yeah, but you got a hell of an antenna. But yes, ten one, I mean still ten ye, still impressive, But yeah, I was. I was actually surprised I made the contacts I made. I made like thirty contacts in about an hour, and you know, all the way this um that's the farthest, actually the farthest I've ever done on six meters, so really wow, because I run one hundred watch but the little lad doesn't have it only has ten watts and my aunt unfortunately doesn't do six.
But I did. I wanted to try Josh and those guys on fifteen two. I did. I did talk to a guy in Texas on fifteen that was just booming. He was he was looking for New Zealand contacts and stuff, and I could hear New Zealand a little bit, but I put it. Yeah, I put a message in the chat like I was working field day on fifteen years late last night at ten to thirty eleven, and the ZEEL and VK stations were just yeah, I take that back. That was that was seventeen. I got him on. I was on. Oh
no, I was on fifteen. Was seventeen you're not You're not supposed to use seventeen. No he wasn't. I wasn't. I wasn't doing film. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, I get it again. Seventeen's great for those stations too, but I was, yeah, I was, Yeah, he had Josh Stenna, yeah yeah, yeah, the step by are Yeah, he was on that and I could hear I could hear the guys on my upside of my DOUBLET. I could hear the guy in New Zealand.
I thought I could have made a contact with them, but they were all they were all over fifteen meters ft eight last night and I pincked Hayden. I'm like, dude, you get fifteen ft eight. They're like all kinds of ZEO and VK stations out there. Yeah, like you guys said, twenty was just I went onto twenty and my I had my screen up and it was just like almost almost the peaks were almost touching each other. You
know, so much stuff on there, right, and it's hard. It's hard because you have to it's a little harder to tune than a regular radio. You gotta turn off the snap so you can tune those like in between things, you know. You know what I'm talking about. I'm sure, yeah, And I'm still not used to that type of a radio. I wish the thing had fifty lots, I'd be it'd be golden. Maybe I had, but I had fun just I was. I was actually building antennis for next year. Oh, I don't doubt that out of you Chuck,
you probably was. I actually was tomorrow checky heckx version fourteen in the word No, you know, what I'm working on is a you did. We could sell about a thousand though I know it. I can tell him. I was like, I've got the logo. It's Chucky stabbing a hex beam with blood all over. The Logo's my idea, Bundy, I gotta get Poppet to make them all though. Man, that's that's a lot of word. Well, that's that's just I just wanted. I just want royalties.
You have to make them all. I don't want to do the work. And we just all showed our age because nobody in the chat knows too. Chucky is right. Yeah, it's a it's a new it's a new show on Netflix, man, come on or USA wherever it is. I'm actually making a show three Element Mars for ten since tenn is I mean, since we did made that contact with Hayden down in Arizona. Yes, I'm thinking
that ten's a pretty good one. Sometimes and it's not. It's twelve, but it ends up being twelve foot by twelve foot square, so mox moxon has three or four sides. It's four sided. It's usually a rectangle, but mine's going to be square because of the extra element. So but does the does the does the wire go around alf or does the wire go around three sides and then the fourth side that's open as your X been. Yeah, it goes around three sides, and then that's the other one comes back
at it, and the front one comes back towards all of them. Gotcha. Okay, I don't know if it's gonna work or not. I was trying to make it a fold up one, but that I kind of failed at that today. So yeah, you done, Yeah, Chuck, I'm not done yet. No, it was two three sixty four more days. That's right, Yes, thank you so much, Thank you, Manion. Really cool story that Molson told about the getting new people on the air. So go back and watch that if you it's the first part of the stream.
I'm gonna have to watch the first part of this on replay anyway. I want to. I want to know what y'all were talking about when I've showed up. I have a theory I know what you were talking about, and I'm a little frightened. It's well, Carlo Carlos said something derogatory about you, and then you popped into the zoom and I'm like, oh, well, Jim is Jim is like Kyle. You just mentioned his name three
times. He's like, shows up beetle juice. I mean, you know, I was gonna say it's Josh and those guys your your hex be the mass thing was like I was. You had a perfect view of it, and that thing was you guys had it must have a guide really well, because that thing was as windy as it was. I was expecting to see that thing going crazy. Even the even the hexpeam wasn't moving a whole lot. So the top there's two guys on h I couldn't see the guys.
We lowered. We lowered the heck right on top of the top. Okay, that's why it was total sen Yeah, I've done that before. Chuck needed a few lessons after after courts Fest. Holy leave it up down there, man, I thought my trailer might blow. It was mine was attached to my trailer and it was like a whipping that thing around. That's the trick. Dropped that thing right on the top guy, and you're you're fine, Yeah, it wasn't ready yet, so it was do you have the
thirty foot mast Works Josh, I don't know, is it? That? Is it? That's I don't know. So so so he makes like, at least I think he still does this. He used to make a ten to twenty and thirty foot and I got the thirty foot Maskworks tripod and it came out. The mass Works stuff came out like a year year and a half before the Buddy Hecks was available. So he was putting his his dipole as Buddy Buddy Pole Deluxe and Buddy Poole Regular Buddy Pole on top of the
tripod and it worked great. Great, put it all the way up thirty feet. Great, you put that freaking heck beam on thirty and the top two sections are basically worthless because they're not they're not sturdy enough to run the hex beam. Now, having said that, you only really need to run a hex beam at like twenty to twenty four feet. You don't really have to have a hex beam up that high. I know guys who run them at like ten feet and swear, swear to God they work DX with them,
and I believe it. Yeah, yeah, well no d X, they're working d X. D claim they claim, that's what they claim. And antenna just fine, right, I mean it's you know, we're in a location like we're at we had some bit of elevation above the sea water, so it's like, yeah, it's it's it's fine, we're not we're not really hurt. I think minds a twenty foot or around it the twenty fo Yeah, and so I never used because the last sections are like they're
they're really thin, right, They're really thin. Right. If it's a completely still day, yeah, sure you can get like half of that section. But most of the time I just leave it right at the top and then just buy it. Really well, it's a good idea, Yeah, but yeah, I mean, you know, I set up I've never set up my hex beam in Galveston, but I set up other antennas there now on the beach. We never set it up on the beach. I never have. We should do that. We're talking about doing Winter Field Day in
Galveston in January. So if anyone's interested in coming to Texas, I'm talking to I'm talking to the people in Zoom right now. I don't need four anyone in Zoom right now. We do have a limited we do have a limited space. However, well, well that's why we invite Frank. He does all the cookie. So you know what I want to do on the beach boxing that's a great you know, people say set, people say, oh, I'm six hundred eight hundred one thousand feet above sea level. I'm
like, that's great. You put in antenna at sea level zero feet and you can work the world. Man, it really doesn't matter. The Australian guy, um Hayden, Simon Simon, that guy. Yeah, I was joking. I didn't think that Simon, not Simon, the the guy that's been around forever. Peter. It's always Peter Peter. Yeah, Peter Peter does those. And then he just did another one the other day that was actually easier to set up. He said, Um, I forget what it
was. It's kind of a triangular one, I think, but but something like that on the beach would be really good directional and then stuff on the beach man, I mean, I have worked. I mean I went out to activate PODA in February with a vertical set, that seventeen foot vertical from Chameleon Antennas, and it was it's just a steel it's just a vertical driven in the ground, nothing special, one one hundred and fifty one max. I think I was using my ftd X ten no power. I thought,
I'm gonna start on ten ten meters was open at the time. I'm gonna
start on ten meters. I'll do a little bit there and uh and I'm just gonna And I was fifty feet from the ocean, sixty feet maybe from the ocean, and I said, I'm gonna start on ten meters and I'll just go to fifteen to twenty later because I won't get very many content und in fifty contacts later on ten meters, I had worked two golf zero stations that were at a park parked to park from Galveston, Texas on ten meters with a vertical to a to a British park, and I'm like, this
is freaking cool. I just I'm gonna stay here for the next week. So yeah, it was. Yeah, ten meters was on fire that and that vertical antenna was awesome. So I mean in theory, you're like, well, if you're up in the mountain, you'll make more contacts. Yeah, maybe, but at sea level works, man, it's you know, it's great. Uh, coastal waves. He's always yeah, he walks out his back door, well front door probably, He's always planting a vertical right
there in the sand sitting. I did that. I did that. I did in Hawaii with the same antenna and I had my radios were like washing up on it was on the beach. I went right at desk and I hit a VCA contest and just was killing it. Wow. Oh that's fun. Fure Field data at courts Fest. It's the same courts Fest ends at winterfield Day weekday. It's a long drive, man. I'm you know. The one thing I loved quurts Fest. It was a fun trip. I'm
glad I went. I will probably go back, but I'm not going back next year because I really really missed doing winter field Day last year, this year twenty twenty three. So we're gonna do winter field Day. Um next year. Um okay. I don't know who you're talking to, contest, but hey, congrats so field Day. If you want real winter field Day minus ten. No, we don't want the wind, I say no.
I might be outside for winter field Day. Yeah right, we won't turn for winterfield Day where where we are we do outside summer and winter day I loved. I was on W five KUB show one time, like three years ago, and they were talking about how field day was so easy. It was nice and pleasant. These guys are up in like minnes come to Wisconsin and I'm like and I'm like, and they're like, yeah, winter field day is a real test of your equipment. I'm like, let me tell
you, guys something. You want to test your equipment, bring that shit down to Texas in June. Okay, come on, let's go. You want to hear you You want to hear your radio overheating and panting and giving you beats and errors. Yeah, come on, let's go. And your field day is winter field day is easy? Okay? How many times we put phones, computers, radios in the freezer or I know, too hot? Are freaking my laptop that was hosting are in three FJP log overheated three
times yesterday? When equipment is sweating more than yes, right with the blower and the fan going through your radio fan, you guys don't do that, would Yeah, it doesn't get hot in California. You guys have the best weather out there. Like it's hot sometimes, but not like you guys, it's actually not It's actually not the heat. It's the humidity. Let me let me say, let me say this real quick. I've lived in Texas
all my life. When my truck broke down in just south of Mesa, freaking Arizona last summer, and we got out of the parking lot in front of that grocery store and the black top parking lot was liquid. Like he stepped out of the truck and it was like, I'm like, it's like one hundred and thirty degrees out here on this black top. I'm like, I'm like, Charlie, I don't know how you do it, buddy. It's like I thought it was hot in Texas. Well. I got out
there, I was like, screw humidity. I mean, it's like like your parking lot is like flowing ocean out there. Oh yeah, I think it's just it's just it's just really damn hot. Oh my god, that was you got some humidity with the tar pits. Man. I mean there's California, California. You know, you go out to La you go to out to the LA area, and it's a good eighty eighty five degrees in the High Cup Pacifico in ten minutes before you get to the top, it
drops down to forty degrees and you're like, where's my coat? I didn't bring a coat. This was hot the whole time. Such a dramatic change for us. I mean, you know, I mentioned that we were twenty eight degrees the other night. I think it was actually Friday night. Well we came home you know today it was it's it's one hundred and almost one hundred and ten. Now it was such a huge Oh my god, were you up on a mountain, Charlie, we were up high? Yeah,
we were, ok, just south of Flagstaff. Yeah. Well sometimes in the desert it can get cold at night hot during the da So it just depends on the time of year, I guess. But yeah, TC fits. Thank you for the super chat, buddy. No, I don't have any pickle beard nights. Sorry, come back for the next happy hour. But it sounds awesome. It is not horrible. It is not. It's not It sounds like a Benjie burger from Culverts. Yeah. Yeah, anything
about an impossible burger. Impossible. That was the biggest fail ever there was. My My wife one time ordered a black bean burger because she likes black bean burgers with bacon, and they looked at her and they're like, you know, bacon's not vegan. And she's like, I'm not a vegan. I just like black bean burgers and I like bacon. I'm like, there's nothing wrong with that. In my book, I thought that was funny.
I was sent to pick up I was sent to pick up burgers one day and the old lady likes burger king and I said, what do you want? She said, give me a whopper or something. Okay, So I go down there and not and they have impossible whopper And I thought that meant giant ass whopper. I thought that was like impossible to make. That is not what that means? What does it? I don't know what does it mean. I don't know. It's not me it's vegan. It's impossible to
believe that it's not meat. Hole think it's meat. Yeah, exactly what they think is hemoglobin from soybeans. Ouch. We get what appears to taste like blood from soybeans, and then we're gonna market it as burgers. That's what they think its. She she didn't even taste it. She's like, this is not a hamburger. Yeah, no, it's not. She said some other words too, but we won't repeat all though. Yeah, Oh my god, I was on I I was on a trip home from somewhere.
I was on a trip home and I was driving down the road I was coming home, and uh, I stopped at a truck stop to Phillip gas and I was really hungry, and the truck stop had a fricking burger. I don't have burger king in years. And I'm like, okay, I'll get a chicken sandwich. That was mistake. That was terrible. It tasted like burnt burnt. It didn't taste burnt, but it takes his like
over over overdone chicken because we cooked it like three hours ago. But well, and it was like it was like soggy, soggy breading on the outside, fried bretty on the outside. I'm like three bites of it. It was, oh my god, this was terrible. God. I couldn't even eat it. I just threw most of it away. But I'm Robert. Robert is in a chat written house. Yeah, I saw him. Those things are fire and I don't like son. I know you have good tasting
whiskey, but apparently your tasting sandwiches is sketch, Robert. I took one bite of that thing and I Joe Brett's in the house, buddy, Hey, joined the zoom. I want to go what you did on field day? Joe Brett five. Yeah, yeah, Hey, hey y'all, Hey y'all, we're gonna we're gonna go do field Day Mississippi. That's awesome, Joe Bret. Come defend yourself, buddy. Hm. So yes, winter field Day in Galveston next year. I have limited sea, I have limited
sleeping area, so first come, first served. Yeah. Oh hey, if you want to bring a camper beach, yeah, well we we need so. Galveston Island State Park, which is a poda spot, is literally about seven to eight minutes south south, no north, no, no south. Well they call it they call it west. It's it's this way, it's this way. It's actually they call it west. It's actually south southwest.
It's seven to eight minutes from the house. So I thought everybody brought it up this week and they're like, hey, we want to do Winter field Day at Galveston. I'm like, great, let's do it, because we will go set up for Winter field Day inside the park and this double submit our logs. You want to know the truth, Jason, So we want to work running a daily shower. I'll tell you what. The shower in my trailer is just fine. It's just you know, you fat asses
can't get in there very well. It's not it's not get in the way, Frank, Is that the problem? The sh ahead comes up to here on me? I know, right, I'm only six feet so I didn't build. I didn't build the shower, but it works really well for me, so I don't. I don't know what y'all problem. They can shower outdoors, I don't want to have a Yeah, I'm an outdoor shower. I'm an outdoor shower. So yeah, that's we have an outdoor shower at
the Galveston house. My wife just reminded me, or actually, I'm want to take it that it is. It is actually quite refreshing having the ocean breeze blow in while you're showering. It's actually it's actually very nice. It's an enclosed shower. We have run out there. You're not out there being all perv and whatnot. But you know, I mean, it's it's look at us. Let's get real. I don't know if we were people would
like hand if you're married, I wants to see you. How many people here have how many people here have jumped out of a plane naked, hand down? Okay, yeah, that's what I thought, Carlos. So Carlos, Carlos told us that story story. I'm all right, okay, Carlos this year, yeah, Carlos told us that story last year at Huntsband. Carlos tell us, as much as you want, you don't have to cheer the whole you want. Yeah. Yeah, it's it's a tradition, right,
it's a right of passage on your hundreds of skydive is uh. You know now they're they're getting pc about it, so you can do an Undie Hundy. But most you know, prior to now, the tradition is you go do a naked skydive on your hundreds of skydive. So I did, and you know there are things that I didn't expect. Flapping in the breeze made in it, Bill. Flapping in the breeze is one right, and the thing is, here's here's the real fun part. Flapping against I will.
I said I was gonna do this jump and a lady decided to join us a young lady, and I was like, yes, absolutely coming. Nothing and I mean nothing looks good when it's being hit at one hundred twenty miles. Okay, could have made it, you know, pull it out or something. The one is the rudder just keeps the flapping in the breeze and then when you land you don't realize happening. And then you go to the bathroom and you can't touch him because it's that Oh my god. One
procedural question. Please did you go bear? I gotta hear this from from you. I gotta hear this, Charlie. So did you go bear in the air or do you do that pre pre plane? Or where? Where? Where do you d roll? So t rope? You put on a
pair of shorts? Oh, you put on you everything on the ground, and then you put on a pair of shorts over the over the bottoms right on the over you take you take the shorts off before leaving the airplane and then you just leave them in the airplane, or you stuff them until your legs trap and then hopefully they're still there when you land, then you can put them right back on. All right, jump, thank you? What about all the bugs that are like in the upper atmosphere that you're falling through.
I mean, do you get like bugs hitting you everywhere? No, collecting somewhere right? Better? You need to walk better. Oh my gosh, bugs in the upper atmosphere. Yes, something, Yes, there is light at three three four feet. I have had a completely covered windscreen from bugs, really completely, and Texas, I believe that where I've almost to the point where I almost had to stop at an airport to clean the windows
off. Oh yeah, that's absolutely true. You guys got bugs as big as birds there, absolutely and one of the you're called mosquitoes when we're flying around here. You've seen the terall this weekend. It was a killer wasp. It was just a murder wasp. It was that big. Yeah, it looked angry. It's like I want and it had it had praying mantis legs. To wasp with playing mantis legs is like, oh, I don't get you with my stinger. I'm gonna ninja your but just like completely,
I'm gonna completely kunk food your ass to oblivion. Just so, are you are you gonna talk about your your the he don't remember five tank a radio set up we haven't. We haven't went there yet. Which part you walk with? No? No, no, he talked about everybody, but you didn't talk about your Oh oh okay, okay, all right, all right, my Paul. He was having too much fun, right, I'm trying to I'm trying to underail this thing. Okay, yeah, with that,
so I'm way. I'm used to the clubhouse, Josh and had really quick. I just want to do a quick one entire crew, So yeah, totally, Marty, who you haven't seen yet. Good job Marty this weekend and Austin the man so u yeah, sorry, guys, we gotta we gotta go bail. But we we got recognized in the bar last night, and the Marines want to talk to us about definitely, so we're gonna go. We gotta small words, Josh, small words. He was really low.
They the signals intelligence guys, So we'll bring crayon. We're helping them out. We're trying to upgrade them from Crystal sets that they're using right now. We're working Adam. Adam is the guy to do that for him for sure, right all right, Crystal, thanks Josh, thanks for joining you guys. Cool. Okay, So our setup at field day was as follows. Is that back there, This is the buddy hecks right there in the middle, and if you can see over here, it's kind of behind the
tree, but that's the d X commander behind the tree right there. And that was pretty much all we had. We had the buddy hecks. You didn't need anymore. No, we really didn't need anymore. We had every bag because it was it was well, yeah, and the and the and the and the the DX commander will go it'll go to eighty. But Mike didn't. I don't think Mike had his eighty radio up, but he had forty twenty, fifteen, ten and six. Well, no, he didn't have six, but we could tune six. Yeah, okay, So and
again we tried six a few times. There's nothing out there. And then I skipped the twelve and seventeen Miller elements on the buddy hacks and I just put up six, ten, fifteen, and twenty, and so we had And again Frank and I were running two radios through the triplex or on that antenna. I meant to bring my K three and I was going to put that, but put the K three on ten meters and see if there's any any activity out there. Turns out it wasn't missed because ten meters was dead
anyway. I was really hoping ten and six would be something on ten and six this weekend, but there wasn't. So so but it but it was fun. We had We had two Yazu FTDX tens. Miket is IC seventy three hundred and is a DX commander and Frank and I run our FTDX tens on the buddy hacks and that that was all we needed. We were three Alpha North Texas. This was a big achievement for me. I actually brung my own radio and ran a station. I wasn't a move on. I
know this was he doesn't have one. He has one that a that a subscriber bought for same Yeah, shame, shame, shame, but no seriously, so contacts Jason Radio. We made somewhere around two hundred and fifty sideband two hundred and sixty sideband I think um FT eight. We had two different stations running FT eight. Mike sent me as law earlier actually, so I'm guessing by the end there was another another two to three hundred fifty or sixty
on FT eight for fifteen meters I got. I got ninety two on twenty meters, but I wasn't going the whole time. I'd do it while I was here and other stuff. We shut down about nine thirty or ten this morning, a good three hours before it ended. We just decided to close down and pack up and go ahead. It was that's what It was. Still cooler outside, yeah, not for it before it got terribly hot. Yeah, it's pretty hot when you're when you're tearing stuff down and carrying stuff
heavy in your truck. It's still hot. Yeah. So but m Carlos went to get a whiskey. That's why he's blurred right now. Nice. So I feel you, buddy, But yeah, I just have them all at the desk. I don't know where he's going. Well, he probably has his what's it's eight and it's still ninety six. I mean, it's like in the eighties here. But outside all weekend war Field Day, oh Farmers. Yeah, dude, I was wearing those sandals on my feet all weekend. I got a white spot over over the top of each my feet.
I have one. You can't really yeah, I can see it. Yeah, that's your watch. Yeah, Yeah, that's how you do field day. You are literally outside operating on battery and generator power, um all weekend to show that we have the readiness and sixty five outside. Yeah, it's hot here, man, that would be nice hot. That's not hot. Chuck four here, So I don't feel so bad. I'm gonna quit mention about the heat. Now. Eighty four is not hot either. I
got news for you, right, That's what I'm saying. I'm for some more for you, Carlos Frank Would you what else, any any other any other field day stuff that you might have thought of in the last hour. You know what I heard more than I that I believed was please copy. All day long I said, I said please copy. I said please copy one hundred times this weekend. Mike made front of me every time I thought about Kyle, every time. I didn't care. Every time, I just
kept saying it. I tried not many people, Sorry, Kyle. I did a lot of I did a lot of I did a lot of like we are three off yeah, But the other station, the other station would say please copyright, and I'm like, I plaice copy, Kyle. Kyle stands on that. So I came home and ran today and I'm trying to get it up here. Um, I had a police copy counter that. I was Carlos stream that. Carlos, you take that little blue pill that that's we talked about it when he said that, Yeah, when he when
he said I tried to get it up today. Yeah, I caught that myself. I was gonna say, they make pills for that, now they poos for that. I'm not that old. I don't have that issue. Yeah, So Sat, So Saturday, Saturday, actually actually this next Saturday starts the UH starts the UM thirteen colonies contest. So I'm gonna say police
copy a lot on that as well. Go ahead, Kyle. So, I was on the air for I streamed for an hour and made sixty contacts exactly, and twenty of them are please copy, so one third where police copy. I can't believe you have a stat for that. Well, oh I know, yeah, I just nod it's node red. You know that note you know that Kyle created a node red statistic for police copy. Go watch my stream today. You'll see police copy and all the all the hooligans
that we had same police copy. And you want to mention who we saw on stream? And we get contact, Shane, you need to come on. I'm gonna leave it to jail. I don't okay, No, I don't done. However, think, oh my gosh, how do I say this? I could say it's your it's your channel. I could just I could be political correct about it. All right, Sam read, I'm gonna. I'm gonna let Shane have the floor, and I and I do not necessarily disagree or deny anything that is said in the next thirty five seconds.
So so here there was a particular YouTuber who doesn't normally participate with the rest of us, who was live prior to the start of field day, and we were like, you know what, let's test our radio, let's make a contact. We stumbled, let's plea, let's play nice and pleasant and friendly. And we tried to make contact with this particular individual and he ignored every call sign that was sent to him. And you can hear me.
You can hear that on his lifestyle clear he ignored me, Jason, and he hadjorged Mike except for the girl that was like, well no. So eventually I said, you know what, I'm gonna. I want to have an experiment. I'm a Ham. I'm gonna, I'm anna experiment. I said, let me use the Ham Radio clubhouse call sign because he hasn't blocked out on Twitter yet. And I said, so, I give out the the the Ham the clubhouse call sign that said W two HRC whiskey too hotel
Romeo. Charlie came right straight back to me, boom, But we've been tripping for twenty minutes ago. Right, No, I'm not no, he's not no, no, no legit, this was go watch the livestre I don't like to give this, but on the live stream, listen listen. No, okay, just go go to K five y V Y and friends go over to our discord and we have a Hammerdo clubhouse chat room. And then the Arab posted the clips. If you would like to see what happened, you can join us over there. For sure, much so because the
loud list on his face it went like this. He was typing in he saw was on the call, so and then he went, oh yeah, resting, resting, resting bach phase is that you're five next yeah you. He would not even he would not even acknowledge anybody Mike Shane or I or Frank Frank. He didn't Makenoledge Frank either. Frank. He deleted Frank's comment. Frank commented in his live stream chat he deleted it. Yeah, yeah, I have that much hate for We're all nice, We're all nice people.
Well, I was gonna say. I was gonna say, hey, man, thanks for live streaming. You sound great in Texas seventy three. Thanks for being out there. That's all I was going to say. And that's what I said under the W two HRC. It's like, hey, great to get you in the log man, you sound great. You got a five nine plus ten in Texas. That's what any of all of us guys have seen this before. I call us Hams lead the way. We are better Hams. I don't mean that as exclusionary. I mean we,
all of us, we are the better Hams. We will we will make contact with those that shun us. We will, we will rise above the mess. Yeah, some of these people live in For example, if you want to know what the call sign is, go to the K five Y Y. I'm not gonna say it on the street. Yeah yeah, yeah, we don't need it. Yeah, we don't say it. Here. Here here's the bottom. Here, here's the bottom already, you've already provided
provided way more advertisement for that personally, exactly. Yeah, but he's still dealing up. So Shane, Shane, share the clubhouse discord link in the chat please. Yeah. So here's the bottom line, my channel, my turn to talk. Here's the bottom line. Seriously, I'm being I'm totally serious right now. Okay, you know what, I don't need you to agree with everything I say. I don't need you to agree with the way
I do stuff. I don't need that. I really don't. But if you badmouth other people trying to promote him Radio, go back to QRZ and shut the hell up. I mean, seriously, that's that's that's what I
think. I mean, you know what you can do you you do your channel the way you want to. I do not care, really, But the people who I have had personally misses me talking right now, the people I have had on my zoom calls, on my live streams, on my ham Radio happy hours, these are the people who I think promote Ham Radio in the right way that welcome outsiders, welcome other people, and welcome newcomers to the chat, to the hobby and the some of the people, some
of the people who you've never seen on this channel before have been invited and never showed up, and that's okay, that's all right. Some of the people have intentionally not been invited onto this channel before. So if you've ever seen anybody on this channel, I support everyone who has been on this channel one hundred percent, and they will promote the hobby the way it should be promoted. Different ways, and that's okay, it's all right. Everybody's got
their different style. Nothing wrong with that. But yeah, yeah, if if all you want to do is bad mouth other people and disagree and block people who disagree with you, then you know, seriously, moved to North Korea and shut shut up. So don't be a website for that. Don't be a male falic impendage, right right, yeah, right, probably had enough time on best man, Let's move on. I was calling CCU field
day this weekend. I was sitting next to Shane and I said ciccu Field gay one time, and Shane looked at me and I'm like, I'm sorry, man, did I just offend you? I mean, look at him laughing right there. Seriously, I just got tongue tied, That's all it was. Ain't nothing wrong with that, Jason, there's n a YO links drounded My question. Which of these million subchannels was this subchannel? Million sub channel in YO. Check it out, buddy, I'm drinking your pastry town.
You need to bring one to Huntsville. I would like to have one. You need to bring about seventeen of these to Huntsville because I'm won a few of them myself. It's really good stuff. Make it the twenty five twenty five good stuff. Which one of these million subchannels was that discussion? We did not share the channel name? No, no, no, go to go to go to the discord at Ham Radio Clubhouse and look it up and going to it's under General Clubhouse Chat. Correct, See Shane googled it
for you. Mike, I'm not gonna promote his channel. Sorry, yeah, no I don't. I wouldn't either. Jason nailed it though. It's it's it's a crap. There's so many people who just do it. This is what you say, crow hand Radio Clubhouse discord. Yeah yeah, probably crashing discord right now? Yeah, well, thank you all the what's the name of the what's the name of the channel against Shane General Clubhouse Chat, General clubhouse. There it is right there. Yeah, it's under Ham Radio
clubhouse. If you scroll up, I'm looking, I'm looking at the general channel. Wow, right, breaks gonna kill me, Mike. Thank you so much for sharing the Actually I just posted there myself, so yeah, scroll scroll up, scroll up. This is why I love you guys. This is it. Oh yeah, that would be great. It's really two words side of him first, Yeah, yeah, yeah, sad him and he has that license plate on his wall. He's not the same, so I don't doubt that keeps coming in. Yeah, Joe Joe Brett. Joe
Brett says, my notifications keep blowing up. That's what you get from joining. Just zoom tonight, Joe. Seriously, I know you've probably been sucking back on the peanut butter whiskey all night, Joe Breck. But you know that's how it is. There's so many people joining. I knew, he said. He says, I knew Shane did something. All of you. I've just jumped in there. Thank y'all so much. No offense, no
offense. But we're not talking about we're not talking about that channel. Yeah, yeah, I thought I thought Steve had to leave to go check it out because he disappeared the first club. We don't we don't talk about Ham Club. Yeah that's right. Yeah, yeah, we do not talk about him. Yeah, dude, two one, I'm not sitting in the shed with eight. Oh yeah. So Joe Brett said he's got tornado warnings.
Yeah, he showed me. He sent me a picture of like radar scoop or something that's the same screenshot he uses every time he would Yeah, I'm pretty sure. I'm like, you know, yeah, I seen that before. So you're in Mississippi, you got tornads. Hey, congrats. Okay, if you're your internet's obviously working because you're chatting. So Joe Brett, seriously, right, Joe, it would be it would be a great it would great, be a great boost to my channel. Come through. It
would be a great It would be a great boost to my channel. If Joe Brett, if you would join the chat and you got swept way on a tornado during my live stream. So please let's go, dude, Yeah, let's go. So yeah, I'm blown away. There's still so many new people that are just winning the discord. First off, thank you guys. Second of all, look for my I reposted the actual channel that you do not. Do not go watch that guy, watch Shane's clip, watch
Shane's clips, do not go to his channel. We don't want to go to all this viewtime. No, no, he's gonna be like, oh, I'm doing something right. We only had six people watching his live stream anyway, but yeah, yeah, when one was Frank, when you're exclusive, well three of them were us. We were here. I'll listen trying to be like that. Yeah that channel. Yeah, yeah, craziness.
I'm looking for Yellowstone next year, by the way, people here, so yes, um yeah, so Frank Frank is uh well I can tell you right now it's gonna be count all the people that went to Grand Canyon and put them down as yes, so uh yeah, but Frank is planning that if you want to know about Yellowstone, contact Frank direct direct. Yes,
yeah, boo boo, don't mess it up, Frank. Right, we're actually is very important I get ahead account and and figure that out with it this week because um something that we have to figure out what what days we're going? Man? Right, these are we going justly July of twenty twenty four, just naked. I'll make sure I'm off. Yeah, I'm not gonna miss you. I'm not gonna miss that far in advance. Even Shane can take. So every nobody else has an excuse. Southwest does into Yellowstone,
don't care. Yeah, I'm driving, I'm driving. I'm driving. It's a it's a yog where Yogi Bear is. Yeah, it's a national park. July of next year, we're I don't know why we have an exact dates. Why not ju huh Yellowstone July is hit the thermos that um um uh yeah. Just just ride that up right, you'd be awesome. But oh my gosh, kab one wsc I look, I feel sorry for him. Looks like he the kid I gave Shroys j That's the best part is when you watch the start of his dream. He had two hundred two
minutes and fifteen seconds of the best commentary on YouTube ever. Yeah. Yeah, too much time for sure, Yeah, too much time on him. These are these are um, these are homemade marshmallows by my wife. That's what I mean. Tell her, I said, thank you for making those. I'll catch him next time. Yeah, amazing, amazing. I'll bring it into best first moores because they're bourbon infused with the chocolate and when you melt that, they they burned hotter. Shane, would you broke break keta
for him? Yes? I did too. Dark at your house? What's up with that? Well, you know, the sun is setting and I haven't figured out where they they'll switch for that light is Carlos. Carlos is in an airplane right now getting ready to jump out. Let me nice, that'd be nice. So, okay, guys, we're gonna shut this down. We've been going our forty minutes and this has been really fun. Thank you everyone for joining. Thank you everyone for joining the chat and zoom.
It's really fun. I'm glad you guys had a good field It sounds like everyone had a good field day. Jodey is a really fun time. I really much enjoy it. We are going to do winter field well eighty five nine percent chance we're gonna do winter Field Day at Galveston Beach next January. So more to come on that. I gotta talk to I gotta talk to my wife. January February Marcher, the dead season. We can go down
there anytime we want to. It's not a problem. So if anyone's interested in coming to Texas again, I have a limited number of spots to sleep. But if you want to run a hotel or camp on the beach or camp bring a camper. There are literally about twenty RV parks on the island Regardston. It's just it's crazy. One. Let me be a long drive from Wisconsin. But you you're welcome too. Oh I'll be a Texas resident here real soon. Yeah yeah, oh yeah, that's right. Hey,
come down there, man, let's go. Let's do it. You know, I sid I got a quah silkcard from Steve this week on them in the mail. I'm like, Texas, what right, where are you at right now? To I'm still at my house in Wisconsin. But this, this, this house right here behind me is is fully mobile. They're they're practicing living in the RV. So we have we have spent living in the three months now right, We have spent New Year's even day in Galveston for
the last two maybe three years. It would not be out of the question to just stay there all through January. So perhaps off that next year. So you guys come down. It's not it's it's it's warmer down there than it is up here. It's about five hours south of where I am right where I'm sitting right now. It's in the sixties here right, man, it's chili. It's usually in the sixties in January in Galveston, that's usually sixty seventies somewhere in there. Yeah, better than minus thirty five. I've
done that. So yeah, Texas doesn't do that. Texas would like literally break off and fall into the ocean if it ever got to thirty minus. Saw that two years ago. So yeah, it wasn't that freaking cold. It was like fourteen, and we lost our minds at fourteen degrees. We're not doing not negative thirty five fourteen the yeah, yeah, yeah, goes. Hey you got some more cheese? Okay, yeah, is that beer cold? Come on down, Carlos. We got room for you, buddy.
It's eighteen hours something. I'm guessing I'll do it, and you know, I'll do it in two maybe three days. That way I can stub it parks on the way and do parks in the air, fly southwest or do do do eight hours a day, No, do six hours a day and stop at a park each night just to activate the park. That's how I did Courtsfest. It was fine, it was fine, I could. I could fly south with the problem was flying southwest is but then I don't have a place to stay if I drive my list. I have a place.
I mean, we could probably throw a tent on the beach. We've got I mean, we've got because I'll probably fly south. We've got beds. No, I don't pay anything, it's free. Yeah, we've got seven beds in the house, but we've got more room and whatnot. We'll figure it out. We'll put a tent in the backyard. So yeah, so I might. I might bringing the truck and park on the beach.
That's that's totally fine too. On the beach, I can show there's a there's a place there where where Mike and I, Mike and Frank and I go right on the edge of Galveston Island, the state park, there's a place that's a that's a parking section. You could drive down the beach and then you walk across the fence and you're in the state park. So can you take your coax and absolutely, I've done that many times. Yeah.
Yeah. You just back your your back your truck up to the fence, you take your antenna and you set it one foot on the other side of the fence and run your quacks to it and you're done. You're just transmitting from the state park. Buddy. Absolutely, absolutely, And yeah it's a little bit windy, but all I'm gonna worry is to sea breeze. It's not already. Hey, if you guys camp on the beach, I'm coming down there and staying with you guys. I'm gonna if I'm gonna come down
to the truck, I'm staying on the beach. I am, I am, I am bringing my gazelle tent. I'm gonna put it up on the beach myself. So yeah, I'm staying down there just because I can so so. Jody Vassar says, Shane, when the tide comes in, your tent on the truck roof will still be dry. Likely, yes, absolutely, because I won't be anywhere near where high tides hat. I don't know. High tide moves up and down really quickly out there. I could park parking lot. I have fifty coax. Oh yeah, I could get I
could get one hundred foot running from Bloney Yeah. Anyhow, right. Digital Dreamer says, maybe Carlos could skydive all the way there. Yeah, that would be very difficult. Squirrels, the loft would have to be scream. Just go up and jump off of the I SS It's easy. H Let's just make sure you tuck for aeronautical purpose. There you go. Yeah, yeah, let's drag that way right right right right right right. You're wearing let's I mean, but it's still dragged. Jason, are we doing last
night? What are we doing last round? Yeah? Let's do last rounds? Okay, So everyone tell me what's coming up in your channel? Make it quick, Frank, go Phil Day, Phil Day, Monday, Phil Day, Monday. I forgot what time? Two o'clock tomorrow, correct time Central time? Good? Good, okay, Shane, go all right, so TID Radio t d H from field Day. I'll have that review coming, and then I have the zygu VG four or four band vertical. I'm editing that video right now and that will be coming out. No thanks to
week. Oh my god, are you gonna actually put a video about that? I got lots of great footage for that. How to how to legitimately have us have a reason to commit suicide by building this antenna? Shane did it wrong? Right? I'm gonna link there is no right to that antenna. Okay, thanks Shane, Carlos, what's up? Video jump number three at him mention, I'm blaming him putting him live tomorrow? Nice. Finally number four will be the week after, and I have a couple of the
videos in the work. You can't release more than one video? Yeah, well you know, well that's for you people that make videos like ten videos a day. I I I think like one video a week, once a video. One video a week is plenty you could do too, but one video. If you're doing one a week, you are golden. Seriously. So you're going to Huntsville Carlos, Oh hell yeah, yea. And not only that, I'm jumping at the Huntsville, not at the hunt has itself
all be forty miles away. But I expect you all to radiate me. I'll go for them at my campsite. Yeah, Huntsville is gonna be awesome, awesome hus ham Fest in August. Everybody look it up and make plans to go. Kyle, what's ham fast? But I'll make it to the Huntsville. Yes, make it to Huntsville. Kyle, what's up? Um? New CW Operator round Table tomorrow Field Day recap. Everyone who worked CW come with your stories and that's it cool. Thanks for joining me, man,
Yeah, eight pm tomorrow night, eight pm tomorrow. Okay, Jim, what's up lying with antennas? More tiger tails? No, there are no more? You shut up? You You just doing some messing around with with HD antennas. There's such a wide range of these things, and some work better than others and some are just sad. Cool. Thanks Jim, Chuck. What's going on? Um? I just dropped the video for tomorrow
morning on my three element moxin. Then I'm gonna build and it's it's gonna be a two part thing because I actually went through all the steps of how to make it this time more good, showing people how I how I do it. I mean, if people want to do a different way, that's fine. I don't care, um, but I did ask him to be like, put in the comments if you have a better way or a different way or whatever. You know. I got some kiweet stuff. I'm gonna
do a view on and post that up. I don't Radio's channel, Yeah, I don't. I gotta find out what we're actually doing on that, because maybe we can pull nice things. Maybe we can bring you on to a live stream one of these days and talk about the theory behind moxin's that'd be a good show. I don't know if I know any theory, but yeah, sure you got plenty. Look at up. How did you how? How how you build it? How do you build one? What you look for? How you have? Why does it work combined? They?
I actually I think they're a little I think they're just a hair better, not not a lot. I mean, probably couldn't tell than than a x beam only because I think it's more straight, you know, more like a Gregory aggy. They're actually within but they're single band correct, Well, they can be multiple band too, can they? Okay, yeah, it's it's a little hard. That's that's what the x beam does easier. Is it's easier to do multiple bands with the x beam, but you can do it
with it with a box. And also I found a really good site. There's a it's yeah, spider Beam makes one later Kyle four elements, but supposedly my three element is better than the spider Beam four element on on ten. But let's uh, let's schedule something in a couple of weeks on a Sunday, Chuck, I'd love to get you on a live stream and just talk about mosins for an hour. Sure, because I am I know what a moxin is. I know basically how it's designed, but I don't know
any details about it. So I it could be a good good for the audis beam right, Well, but nobody watched his clubhouse. We'll come on to my channel and do some stuff. So I only I only said that because Shane's here. No, I'm kidding, yeah, fighting back, Hum well, Iso, I like, so ya, thanks brother, you're you guys are both cigar brothers. I'm good with both of you. Y'all. Y'all are fine, So yeah, thanks, thanks Chuck. Yeah, I'll email you about some stuff, all right, Charlie, what's coming up on
your channel? See, I got a couple of things in post that I should really sue. One as the quadruple goat four thousand points activation wow, Charlie, humans four thousand, four thousand, quadruple go to be four thousand ye? And then also, uh, does the GS five be radiotity radio? Is it good for soda? It'd be surprised with the answer. And then I am going to four corners Masa Verde Monument Valley for a tour and doing soda on those and parks on the air on lalls, and then I'm
after that a week later, I'm going to Nashville. I'm gonna do some soda in Nashville. So around there, there are you so question I want to go to I want to go to Four Corners and do that poda. Yeah, that's a good question. I've been there a long I've been there a long time ago. But yeah, go ahead, Shane. How far are you from Yosemite? Uh, it's it's a good it's a good stretch.
Probably sixteen hours. I had had one of my two of my co workers win and because of all the two snow melt that they had this year, that Yosemite looks absolutely fantastic. I can't I'd love it. I've actually considered flying out to Fresno just to go out and do a soda up in Yosemite somewhere. It's beautiful up there. We did that, We didn't we do that? Like that was two years ago? Yeah, we went up there two years ago. He was there two years ago. So I didn't
Well, that's wet. I wasn't around Frank was there. So if Frank was there, everybody else was invited. Frank was invited. I mean, come on, no, Frank and Charlie and Frank and Charlie and I flew into Reno. We drove out and met car I'm sorry, h Adam Hobby and I saw Chuck. Adam, Hobby and Chuck were there. Who else was There were six of us there. Yeah, we met you guys there. Yeah. Yeah, So that was a fun trip, a really fun trip. Yeah, that would be fantastic. Did you do again? I
have a bee line on a giant cabin this think like fourteen. Hey, you set that up and I'll be there. We're doing working, We're doing uh, we're doing Yellow Stay next year, but i'd be I'd be down for doing more than one in the year. Cool with me. So thanks, Charlie, appreciate you being here. Buddy, TiO. What's up mar Night Nuggets. We are getting a new Ham all the air with a zigu G ninety for the first time. Should be fine. I'm sorry, I'm
