Summary

This introductory episode of "Hacked Off" presents the podcast's core premise: guiding listeners to master their social media use. Author David Ross explains his motivation, stemming from the observation that while the internet initially improves life, it can also foster feelings of inadequacy. The podcast aims to empower users to modify their behavior, prosper from social media, and is offered free, with a request for listeners to share and review it.

Episode description

"Hacked off" - The Networkers Survival Guide To Social Media “If we give an isolated community access to the Internet, very quickly, the quality of life will improve. Time will be saved, research into proven solutions will produce value, and people will become connected to a larger population. Those connections will lead to productivity and learning.

And, then, soon thereafter, they will become less happy. Not because they’re worse off, but because the dominant media narratives that arrive exist to make them feel insufficient, inadequate or simply jealous at how green the grass is over there.

Our narrative defeats our surroundings, every time”.

You know, somebody once said that if we give an isolated community access to the internet, then very quickly the quality of life will improve.

time will be saved research into proven solutions will produce value and people will become connected to a larger population allowing them to thrive domestically and commercially and that those connections will lead to productivity and learning and then soon after they will become less happy not because they're worse off but because the dominant media narratives that arrive exist to make them feel insufficient

inadequate, or simply jealous at how green the grass is over there. Remember, our narrative defeats our surroundings every time. Hi, I'm David Ross. and thank you for taking the time to listen to this podcast. I wrote Hacked Off during the lockdown of 2020. I knew a book like this would be needed.

A book that allows people to take back control of their social media habits, understand how and why people behave the way that they do, and modify our own behaviour so that we can benefit and prosper from social media. So I've decided to release Hacked Off as a free podcast to you and everybody that you know who is trying to grow a business and prosper through social media. And all I ask in return...

is that you help me to get the word out there. And please share this podcast with everybody that you know who would benefit from it. And I'd love to hear your thoughts, feelings and opinions on this podcast by dropping me a quick review after you've listened. Thank you.
