For our fifth episode, we speak with Marisa Anderson, a Portland, Oregon-based guitarist, composer, and improviser. Her compositions and improvisations re-imagine the landscape of American music with elements of minimalism, electronic music, drone and 20th century classical music. In our talk, you’ll hear about her early musical history with instruments other than guitar, the influence of studying classical guitar on technique, composition versus improvisation, and also finding inspiration in the everyday sounds around you.
