Big week for Cleveland as we welcome you back into Guardians Weekly. Jim Rosen House along with you this weekend from Saint Louis. But the big story was what happened back home for the Guardians this week as they opened up a key four game series against the Twins on Monday night, and Minnesota got the scoring started with three runs in the third inning, and it stayed three to nothing until the fifth. That's when Cleveland got on the board.

With a couple of men on and Andre cimen As batting with two outs, the pitcher Lopez swung out broken bat looper toward the third baseman Lewis. He bobbles it, can't pick it up. One run scores. Now they throw back to third, diving back as Martinez, but he's tagged out by the shortstop Carrea. The Guardians do score their first run, but that's it, as Martinez has caught off the bag at third and retired there to end the inning. So we will head to the sixth. It's the Twins three.

The Guardians won. Guardians got a little closer in the seventh, bas is loaded and on Hell Martinez standing in down the set and Lopez is ready. Here it comes, swung in line drive to left field, basehead, haddo, score man Sardo, everybody else moves up a base heads on one run game third head of the ninth by on Hell Martinez as he lines an RBI single the left and Roco ball deli with trepidation. We'll go to his bullpen. Then in the eighth, Josh Naylor got things started with a

leadoff double, bringing Kyle Manzardo to the plate. Now the left handed hitting Mansardo ground out, flyout and a walk. The pitch swung on.

Speaker 3

Hit hard, hit deep to right hallway back.

Speaker 4

Go holla about that?

Speaker 1

A majestic two run bond a right by Kyle Mansarto off Minnesota's best Griffin Jacks. That was a ninety seven mile an hour fastball. Mansarto did not miss and Cleveland's got the lead for the first time tonight, four to three, and the Twins bullpen has imploded again. And as usual,

the Cleveland bullpen was terrific. It kept the Twins off the scoreboard through eight innings and in the ninth a Manual class was on to try and nail down another milestone save Cleveland trying to reduce its magic number to clinching their twelfth division title to eight and their magic

number to clinch a playoff spot to two. Class as ready, here's the one too swam in a miss Bowl game, got him with a cutter and Emmanual class A blows through the Twins here in the night Kyle man Soto with a mammoth two run homer in the bottom of the eighth. Another brilliant effort by this Cleveland bullpen and Emanual class Manchiz Jose Mesa for the greatest single season a closers ever had in Cleveland, forty six saves and

nearly two weeks to go to add to it. The final to night Cleveland four in Minnesota three Tuesday, the Twins were the winners four to one the final score Tuesday night to even up the series at one. Win apiece. But on Wednesday, it was back to tight action all the way through to the end, this time a game that needed ten innings to decide it. The Twins jumped on top with a run in the first, but in

the second, the Guardians got that run right back. Courtesy of Josh Naylor Bailey OBErs, pitch swung on hit a ton.

Speaker 5

Oh way out of here the right.

Speaker 1

We are tied at one. That, folks, is the definition of prodigious and number thirty for just Naylor. A career year with thirty bombs and now one hundred and four runs banned in and the ballgame is tied at one, four hundred and forty five feet. The Twins retook the lead two to one with a run in the fifth. Well, once again Naylor had an answer as he led off

in the bottom of the seventh. Now the pitch a swing of the drive did a bright field away back on Just Naylor two Minnesota two, a toring blast on the fifth straight change up of the bat, and Naylor was sitting change up and didn't miss it. We are deadlock dead two here in the seventh inning, the game stayed tied at two through nine and on the extra innings,

we went twin. Shortstop Carlos Correa, who already had driven in the first two Minnesota runs, made it a four RBI night as he delivered a two run single in the top half of the tenth inn and the Twins were back on top four to two, so the Guardians had their work cut out for them. In the bottom of the tenth, Josh Naylor was the runner at second base to start the inning, and leading off was pinch

hitter Kyle Mansardo. Now in the scent the look back the pitch, swung on grumble base hit that'll get into the right center. Naylor hits third. He's coming home. It's a one run game. And this is why we always say in extra innings, man, when you're the road team, you almost feel like you have to have a multiple run inning at the top of the inning. That's what the Twins got. And now Kyle Manzardo comes through the

big pinch at RBI single the right center. Andre Semenez followed to the walk and that put two men on and another pinch hitter came to the plate in Will Brennan swing on looping liner base hit at the right center. Snow hits third. He's cunning home by Walder stopping at thirties hit on us.

Speaker 5

We are at four.

Speaker 1

A two strike single to right center my Will Brennan and then two batters later, runners on the corners with one out, Brian Rochio stepped in, ton can comes, sent hands chest tie, lets it fly and the pit swung at bunst over the head of Santana base hit right field.

I walked up win for Cleveland. Bowl game from the corner and the Guardians deal the Twins another gut punch, scoring three in the bottom of the tenth and stun Minnesota in walk off fashion five to four as Brian Rochio with that high chumper that riccochet over the head of first basement Carlos, Santana and Cleveland got three RBI singles in the tenth, So another dramatic win for the Guardians. But really it just set the stage where what would

happen on Thursday afternoon? A chance to clinch a playoff spot with a win. They didn't need a scoreboard watch and they got. The scoring started early with Kyle Manzardo batting in the bottom half of the first inning. The pitch and manzarda with a drive too deep right.

Speaker 5

Down the line on.

Speaker 1

Kyle Manzerto has been a one man Twins wrecking crew. He won the game the other night with a two run homer in the eighth. He got a critical pinch at RBI single last night in the tenth, and he hits a towering home run down the right field line here in the first, and Cleveland's got a one nothing lead on the Kyle Manzardo solo homer, his fourth. They've all come since his recall from Columbus. Stayed won nothing until the fifth, when the Twins took the lead on

a two run double by Manny Margo. But the Guardians even things up in the fifth inning thanks to some good situational hitting from Brian Rochio. The two pitch swung on skyball to center, this is deep enough to tie

the game. Buckston medium deep makes the catch, tagging his Nailer throw, goes to third head first, slide in safely him and has in scoring Nailer and Noel stays at first and Rochio comes through with a terrific at bat down OH two, got a sack fly to medium deep Center is thirty sixth Army I and this ballgame is all tied up at two, and it's the little things this inning that Cleveland has done and Minnesota has not

done that has resulted in Cleveland tying the game. Then the Guardian's bullpen went to work, Andrew Walters put up a zero in the seventh. Hunter Gaddis did the same in the eighth, and then Emmanuel Class was out there for the ninth. Now the set now the one one swung on line drive center field, Miles Straw makes the catch, chest high. Classe A throws up another zero, and we go to the bottom of the ninth, Cleveland trying to walk it off. For the second day in a row,

we are deadlocked dead two. The Minnesota pen was able to keep the Guardians off the board as well, and for a second straight day, the game went to extra innings. In the top half of the tent, the Twins loaded the bases with just one away and Eli Morgan was trying to minimize damage. Morgan, from the set check second comes to the plate swinging a liner to right, but right There's Thomas makes the head high catch. Twins loaded them up with one out in Correa and Buckston not

able to deliver. Bottom of the tenth is next still two to two ball game, so the Guardians had a chance to win. On the bottom of the tent. Jose Ramirez was the runner at second base starting the inning off. Josh Naylor was retired for the first out. Then Lane Thomas was walked intentionally, and that's at the stage for Andre Semenez. Now the payoff pitch to Hemenees swung and ripped a right. There's a Bason hitting third coming for

home Ramirez. He will score in The Guardians are headed to October, and yes, Cleveland, for the fourteenth time since nineteen ninety five, you will have in October to remember. Andre Semenez roops a game winning single to aright, scoring Jose Ramirez from second, and for the third time this week against Minnesota, Cleveland stunts the Twins in ten innings by a final score here today of three to two. Oh what a series and what an incredible way to clinch a playoff spot here today they had to do

it in ten innings. But again this club, as they have all season long, finding a way to win it, and they win it and punch their ticket for October with back to back walk off wins in less than twenty four hours and after the game. The celebration was on in the Guardians clubhouse, and we will hear from Chris Antonetti, Steven Vote and many of the players a little bit later on in our show today. But first a look at Friday's game, the series opener in Saint Louis.

No signs of a hangover in this one, as the Guardians took the lead in the third inning. Jose Ramirez batting with two outs and two men on now the three to zero swung on line drive base hit right field Cleveland tanks the lead into score. Schneman Martinez to third, throw to third head first slide, He overslid, the bag got back on time when the ball got away from Suh Jace, and that allowed Ramirez to go to second on the throw to third. One nothing Cleveland and the

Jose Ramirez with rb I number one O eight. The Guardians added one more in the fourth thanks to another two out hit, this one from Daniel Schneman. Long set now the pitch swung online base hit in the right field rounding third heading for home is Naylor. He scores and Schneeman comes through with a two out RBI single and the Guardians now lead it to nothing. Now Schneeman,

he've been laboring a little bit last ten games. Was just two for twenty three coming in, but a walk his first time around to now a two out RBI single. He now has twenty two driven in on the season. Saint Louis cut the lead in half with a run in the fourth, but in the fifth, Ramirez pushed it back out to a two run lead. Here comes the two to two swung on and that's lifted high and deep down the right field line.

Speaker 5

Does it have enough?

Speaker 1

Yes, home run Ramirez right down the line, and it had just enough and it stayed just fair. Another home run for Jose Ramirez is thirty sixth and the Guardians now lead three to one. Laine Thomas stayed high with a solo home run of his own in the eighth inning, and that's how it ended. As the Guardians continue their march toward a Central Division titled they can clinch that crown on Saturday with another win over the Cardinals. Stay with us when we come back. We'll get the sights

and sounds, well just the sounds, it's radio. But ins clubhouse celebration after clinching a postseason birth on Thursday, Well that for you when we come back after this time out the Cleveland Clinic Guardians Radio Network, we love you. Welcome back to Guardians Weekly. Jim Rosenhouse back with you from Bush Stadium in St. Louis, where the Guardians are taking on the Cardinals this weekend. And what a day

was on Thursday at Progressive Field. We heard highlights in the last segment from the playoff clinching win and after the game, the party was on in the Guardians clubhouse. Let's listen in. Well, they've popped the corks and everything's flying now, and we're joined by a president of Baseball Operations,

Chris an Todeddi. They're just in a toast to manager Steven Voden that Chris, I know in the offseason you were trying to figure out who's going to manage this team going forward, and it seems like you have found the right guy.

Speaker 4

Steven really has been incredible from day one.

Speaker 3

Hit. The leadership the boys that he's continued to throw to show throughout the season has been extraordinary and we certainly wouldn't be anywhere near here without him.

Speaker 1

You go to spring training every year hoping that this is the result that you can celebrate a postseason run this year, though it was some question marks going into most notably in that chair. But how did you see this thing coming together as spring training moved along and then the early stages of the season.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I think, Rosie, we try to do our best every year to build the best teams we possibly can and not worry about kind of what any narrative might be, and our focus from day one and really going back to the offseasons, let's try to help support the players.

Speaker 5

As best we can to be the best they can be.

Speaker 3

And if you do that consistently enough, days like this happened.

Speaker 1

And a walk off win. You can't control that when you put the team together. But what does it say about the resiliency of this team, especially the last week or so.

Speaker 3

It's funny we were joking in the sweet as the game was unfolding. We're like, there's no other way for this game to happen other than having to come down to the ninth inning or X ratings, because that's seemingly been the story of our season.

Speaker 1

You've been fortunate to be a part of a lot of these now and Chris just went to just hammer his manager with a full bottle of the cold bubbly and you're back nicely done? Is that part of the strategy down here during this type of thing.

Speaker 5

Absolutely, you kinda have to bounce back and forth.

Speaker 4

You need to have eyes all.

Speaker 3

Around your head, otherwise you're about to get some cold champagne or beer dumped on you. But this is what makes it so fun, and to do it with this group, it's so special, and.

Speaker 1

There's consistency with this ball club despite some of the challenges that you have. This seems like almost a yearly thing now. And how proud are you of your staff that it can be that way here?

Speaker 4

Yeah?

Speaker 5

I think again.

Speaker 3

I would give a ton of credit to our ownership group in the Dolean family and the continuity and stability they've provided. I think we've built an identity and a culture as an organization that's allowed us to have some consistency and we're really grateful for that.

Speaker 1

Chris, thanks so much, appreciate it. My pleasure is a good SEENI congratulations to Chris Antonetti, the president of Baseball Operations. He put this thing together and it has led to a postseason berth for the Guardians. We're now joined by manager Steven voten voter. You come to spring training, you said, Hey, the goal is to win the World Series, but I think a lot of people wanted to see what would

happen early on in the season. And how proud are you of this team, especially the way it fought off some other teams.

Speaker 6

Down the stretch here. I couldn't be more proud of us. You know, getting in that was the goal. And now we just sent our sites forward and keep pushing. And this group of guys, this group of people has worked extremely hard all year, starting back in the Winner, getting to know a new manager, new bench coach, a lot of changes, come together a good year, get on the same page.

Speaker 5

And these guys have not stopped since.

Speaker 6

Our players work extremely hard, our staff works really hard to help them get better. And I just couldn't be more proud of what we've accomplished. And we're and like I said, there's a lot more work to do.

Speaker 5

Hey, everybody is excited in spring training.

Speaker 1

But was it that first road trip that told you, hey, maybe there's something good happening here?

Speaker 5

I thought part of it.

Speaker 6

Yeah, I mean you come home from that first three city road trip and you're seven and two.

Speaker 5

You know that gives you all the belief you need and then you just keep it rolling the whole way.

Speaker 1

How about the games this last week, the series against Minnesota, the way your team won games, What does that tell you?

Speaker 5

We're resilient.

Speaker 6

These guys don't quit even when we you know, get the bases loaded, don't score.

Speaker 5

We're gonna come right back. We're not gonna go away.

Speaker 6

And I think you know, this team has been so good, so consistent all year.

Speaker 1

You've had some of these as a player, what's it like now as a manager?

Speaker 6

This is a This is absolutely crazy, absolutely crazy.

Speaker 5

It's it's a surreal feeling.

Speaker 6

I don't really know how to process it yet, but I'm just gonna enjoy it with the guys.

Speaker 5

All right, get back in there.

Speaker 1

That's Steven Vote manager for the Guardians, and it's done just a wonderful job in his first season as manager of this ball club. And Tom, I know, look, we've talked about it a lot. The shoes he had to fill after more than a decade of Terry Francona just phenomenal.

Speaker 5

What he's done.

Speaker 1

Well, yeah, it's always tough to follow the legend. It's a job a lot of people want, no part of but he embraced and I think the thing too that bears being pointed out Stephen Vote has time and again pointed out that look, what he took over and inherited from Tito was a mansion. He didn't get a starter home, he got a mansion. Now he's very humble about saying he only changed the paint color in a few of the rooms, but he obviously was a big factor in

this club getting to where it did. But he was also very much in awe of the job that Tito had done through the years, and that you walk into a situation where there's a winning culture that started with Tito in twenty thirteen, and of course this front office is second to none. And I think too, as Chris pointed out, Paul Dolan and his family deserve a heap of praise and congratulations because what they do is hire good baseball people and then they don't interfere. They let

the good people do their job. And that's not the way it is in a lot of sports and with a lot of ownership groups. And again, the city of Cleveland is very fortunate that the Dolan family are the stewards of this organization and they're very fortunate to have a second basement. Like Andre Simenez who joins US now got the game winning base hit andres, I'm for you to get the game winning base hit on a day like today, that means so much. What does that mean to you? It means a lot.

Speaker 5

You know, he was a huge residence.

Speaker 7

Ability for me to comment that about and put a good abat on him. Oh, I feel like they've open guys the beach and stuff they serve aween today and yeah, I'm glad that I did.

Speaker 5

I did that before today.

Speaker 1

You made play after play defensively, and I know you do that all the time, but in a big series like this, Uh, who was going on defensively? And how much joy do you take out of that?

Speaker 7

I mean, I take a huge responsibility. Like I said before, I hit and I play defense, So I take a lot of pride on my defense. I feel like I can't have the pitchers anyway that I can, so just has to be in there in the infield for the voice, you.

Speaker 1

Know, and try to have them.

Speaker 5

Now you were here two years ago for a playoff run.

Speaker 1

You're back. What does it mean to be back after missing a year last year?

Speaker 7

It means a lot. You know, after I miss, after you get one one playoff, you want to get another one. So I feel like that's that's really hard to do it. We miss a playoff last last year, but uh, you know we are we are going to be there, uh this year, and I'm looking forward to go to go there and and enjoy it.

Speaker 5

And you do it today?

Speaker 1

How important was it to do it today and not wait till tomorrow where it's on the road. Huge? Huge?

Speaker 5

Uh?

Speaker 7

We we always want to celebrate at home, you know, with our with our crowd, they show they love every single game this season. And for us, he was he was today. He has to do today, Uh, to celebrate with our people here in the clubhouse and with defense.

Speaker 1

Andrea's congratulations. Thank you, Yeah, thank you. That's Andre Cemenez, the Platinum Glove second basement showed it and he's been showing it all season long. We're now joined by Josh Naylor. And Josh when we talk to you, I know you don't want to talk about your own home runs in a thirty hundred season. This is what it's all about, isn't it.

Speaker 4

It's great.

Speaker 8

It's great to watch the young guys celebrate who haven't been here before, grateful enough to have been here with with some of the players in this group. But the watch young guys celebrate pop bottles and smile and have a great time.

Speaker 4

It's unbelievable.

Speaker 1

And you mentioned that, how different is it this time around, especially where you are in your career and where these young guys are.

Speaker 8

I mean, it's a again, it's awesome to watch them celebrate.

Speaker 4

Some of the guys that came up a halfer through the year, beginning of the year or towards.

Speaker 5

The end of the year.

Speaker 8

It's it's awesome to watch the success and awesome to watch them just pop bottles now and celebrate a huge victory and a postseason clinch.

Speaker 4

And I think Roger is grateful to be here in the moment.

Speaker 1

And you're here with with your teammate Jose Ramirez, two guys who go thirty one hundred. What has that experience been like for you this season, the both of you kind of pushing each other.

Speaker 8

Yeah, No, he's an incredible player To say that, say the least he uh, he's someone you want to kind of play off to his par and somewhat be like and he kind of motivates this whole team with his game, and you know, we all just try to We all just try to play hard every single every single out, every single moment, every single pitch, every single playing defense, every single anything.

Speaker 4

We just trying to play.

Speaker 8

Hard and be the best we can be because we know that this is what happens at the end of the day.

Speaker 4

We got to celebrate.

Speaker 1

It's never easy getting to this point. This team had some strong Cools said not that long ago, but it seems like they've started to turn it again. You always seem know to have the good perspective when the team is struggling, whether it's personally or team wise. Where does that come from and why is that so important in this game?

Speaker 4

I think it comes from experience, just uh, experiencing failure. Failure is a big part of this game.

Speaker 8

And if you can learn to accept it, I think you become a better person and a better player on and off the field. So just the ups and downs, it's it's it's beautiful in my opinion, It's a when you're when you're going bad, it's you know, what can I do better today?

Speaker 4

Take a little positive about it today and fix it tomorrow.

Speaker 8

That's that's my biggest thing. Just how can I get a little bit better daily? And what positive kind of takeaway of that day?

Speaker 1

A walk off win. Kind of typical for this team, isn't it.

Speaker 4

This team's relentless man.

Speaker 8

This team is phenomenal, beautiful, incredible, passionate, all those good things.

Speaker 4

So it's uh, it's awesome to be part of all.

Speaker 5

Right, Take the fans, what's the key now? Down here?

Speaker 1

It looks like you're prepared. You got your bottle in the pouch and cigar going. Is that the whole key? And then enjoying it with your teammates.

Speaker 8

Yeah, I just want to enjoy everyone with them. I want to I'm trying to wash them all from afar. Just see the happiness and then that the pure passion that they have.

Speaker 4

It's awesome. It's kind of you can't describe it.

Speaker 1

Josh, congratulations, Thank you, thank you, thank you. That's Josh naylor tremendous effort throughout the season, and even some stretches where he struggled for a little bit, he stayed with it and encouraged his teammates, especially his younger brother Bol who has had some struggles offensively, but Josh has always been there to to be there for him and time. It is a total team effort. We got Joey Cantillo coming over. Not your run of the mill Thursday afternoon, is it?

Speaker 9

No, this is the best Thursday Afternoon I've ever had.

Speaker 5

Hey, you get to pitch in this game.

Speaker 1

Did it feel different taking the mound knowing that it could be a clinching game for the postseason.

Speaker 9

I think, honestly, no, it didn't feel any different. No, it felt it felt like every game that I've pitched up here. I think beforehand, sometimes you can play with you, you can play and say what it means and all that, But I think when when you step on the field, it doesn't matter. And I think I tried to do the best job. Just like the rest of this clubhouse.

There's another Thursday afternoon, and we just you stick to your plan, you stick to executing bitches, and and you know you're gonna battle and fight and and and for the most part, you're gonna, you know, hope to have a result like this.

Speaker 1

I know when we talked after your game against the White Sox where you took the perfect game into the seven, you just said you relish every day up here. And because of that, you're late to this thing. You didn't really join this club until later in the season. What does it meant to you after some of the struggles you had early on just to get healthy and pitch.

Speaker 9

Yeah, like I said, I told you in in Chicago, every day a special up here. And I think this is, obviously, you know, one of those days that I'll remember. And you know, I know this team's gonna have a lot more. We're gonna continue to build on this. But yeah, like it's just a game of making adjustments and then executing on those adjustments. I think, uh man, I just think

it's one of those things. Yeah, we're gonna we're gonna keep battling and keep fighting and and like you saw today's game, like this team, this team won't give up one one pitch at a time, one day at a time. This team's gonna keep keep fighting and and you know, we got a long way to go.

Speaker 1

Joey, thanks so much for coming back. Congratulations, appreciation. That's Joey Cantillo, today's starting pitcher, got the game into the uh the fifth ending today and we have Kate Smith joining us, and uh, Kate, you were such a big part of this thing, uh, key spots all throughout the season. What is this moment like for you now that they've flinched a postseason birth.

Speaker 10

It's so special to be part of this group and you know, seeing it come to fruition and knowing that also it's just getting started right.

Speaker 1

And for you, you're one of three rookies who have dominated this year. There's other rookies here now too, But what is that camaraderie like among you guys?

Speaker 5

Do you realize what you're doing?

Speaker 10

Yeah, I mean the bullpen's truly a special places to be part of those you know down there with those guys every day is a blast and trying to learn from them and you know, push each other to be better and do what we can to make available and try and help the team win every day.

Speaker 1

And look, you were trying to make the club out of spring training, but you did not know until just.

Speaker 5

About the last minute they possibly could tell you.

Speaker 1

Could you have ever imagine the season turning out the way it has based on where you were at the end of the spring.

Speaker 10

Absolutely, No, It's been such a blessing to be here, like not taking that for granted and joining each day looking around me and seeing what, you know, what we've accomplished and being a part of that has been really just a blessing.

Speaker 1

And when you look at this group in here now. We talked to Josh Naylor a little bit earlier and he talked about how special it was to see the young guys go through this for the first time. How special has that been for you, especially with so many maybe former teammates for the minor league.

Speaker 10

I mean, truly unique, truly special to be a part of this clubhouse. The culture that's in it is, you know, unlike anything else, and it's really such a bless and being a part of this, it's just an awesome, awesome experience.

Speaker 1

We were going to wrap up our coverage down here with you, but they're telling us Austin Hedges is available.

Speaker 5

Do we take them?

Speaker 1

All right?

Speaker 5

Okay, thank you.

Speaker 1

Veg you is all right. We're maybe against our better judgment, We're gonna we're gonna interview Austin Hedges and see how that goes, and he'll be our closer today. Austin, you're obviously a huge part of this thing. You were here in twenty twenty two. You went all away with Texas a year ago, This never gets old, doesn't.

Speaker 11

It never gets old. It's the coolest thing ever. Is the reason we play this game is to be able to work real hard, grind together, and then celebrate together.

Speaker 1

There are a lot of people who say it's not a coincidence as teams back in the postseason because you are back here. What is it that you do for this team that maybe is not readily apparent to a lot of people.

Speaker 4

I mean, it's the guys, It's the grew. The group makes it.

Speaker 5

Easy on me.

Speaker 11

The things that I say in the clubhouse are things that these guys have already bought into.

Speaker 5

I'm just a reminder.

Speaker 11

I'm just there to remind them of how good they are and that we're here for one reason.

Speaker 5

That's when the World Series.

Speaker 1

And we talked about that a while back, and you said, look, the division titles not the thing. It's to get in to win the World Series. Is this what you're talking about?

Speaker 11

Yeah, I mean we didn't. We now accomplish our first goal of the year. We just get to the playoffs. Now we got to go win this division and then go win the World Series.

Speaker 1

When you look at at comparisons to twenty twenty two, you were here back then. The biggest difference is you look around this room right now.

Speaker 11

I mean, all these guys have been here now, they've all been there before. They know what it feels like to win, and they know what it feels like to lose. They know what it feels like to win a playoff round, lose a playoff round, and that loss hurts, It really hurts. It makes you hungry, and it makes you, you know, show up every day knowing like not us, not today.

Speaker 5

And these guys keep pushing.

Speaker 11

One day at a time, and you know, we got one goal in mind still, so we got a lot.

Speaker 5

Of work left.

Speaker 1

What about the rookies, They didn't seem to play like rookies, especially the relievers.

Speaker 5

Well, I mean they're a byproduct of all the of all the guys that have been there now.

Speaker 11

And we have such great leadership on this team that I feel like the rookies, it makes their job, doesn't make it easy, but it makes it simple. They know exactly what they're expected to do and what type of ball we play, and these have come.

Speaker 5

Out every day and ready to do exactly that.

Speaker 1

Edgie, thanks for coming back. Congratulations, Thank you Rosie at Is Austin Hedges. Who gosh, he's a difference maker. And we're going to wrap it up down here on NOVI. We'll obviously, hopefully in a couple of days, have another one of these when they clinched the division. But Tomm you mentioned it during the broadcast today what he means to this team, And I don't think it is a coincidence that he's back in this team's back in the postseason. No,

I would agree. And you know the fun part is now we have no idea how this thing turns out. What we have seen a year ago to wild card teams get to the World Series, and I'm guessing Major League Baseball's rooting for the Yankees and Dodgers, and the best thing that could ever happen is ruin those plans

and have a Milwaukee Cleveland World Series. Always fun to be down in that clubhouse when the Guardians are celebrating a clinching, whether it's a division, a playoff series, or in this case, reaching the postseason once again and at some thing they've done six times now in the last nine seasons. And we'll see how far they can go this October in pursuit of that first World Series Championship

since nineteen forty eight. Stay with us. We'll as some final thoughts after this time out on the Cleveland Clinic.
