Episode description

September is National Suicide Prevention Month and the statistics around youth suicide are alarming. Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in people 10-34 years old in the U.S. and has increased more than 55% in the past 10 years. The Ohio American Academy of Pediatrics has been working to prevent youth suicide through their Store it Safe (SIS) program. In this episode, medical director of the SIS program Dr. Sarah Denny and Primary Care Pediatrician Dr. Douglas Fleck will educate us on suicide prevention and describe the SIS program and how it is helping families and more! Prevention starts with awareness, compassion and action.
