Last Thursday, California Governor Gavin Newsom launched a hotline called, CA vs. Hate, whereby residents will be able to snitch on their neighbors for committing "hate acts," which the service explicitly states do not always include violence. If the government can control speech, it can control thought and the minds of the citizenry. Moreover, if people use a racial epithet or inadvertently misgenders someone, they could wind up at a black site unable to defend themselves.
