Episode description

In just over a month since the first Palestine solidarity encampment was set up at Columbia University, more than 140 encampments were established across the United States and internationally, including at 13 campuses in Australia.

Green Left spoke to student organisers Cyn Huang and Daniil Sapunkov, members of Young Democratic Socialists of America, and Amey from San Francisco State University Students for Gaza, where students won open-bargaining and forced the university administration to concede on demands for disclosure and divestiture from arms companies and companies that support Israel's genocide in Gaza.

They also discuss how the student movement in solidarity with Palestine will progress over the summer break, and the impact of this wave of student organising on labour struggles, the organised left and the 2024 presidential elections.

We acknowledge that this podcast was produced on stolen Aboriginal land. We express solidarity with ongoing struggles for justice for First Nations people and pay our respects to Elders past and present.
