God disciplines His children. He does not punish them. Sometimes discipline may appear to be a form of punishment, but in actuality, it is instruction and guidance from His loving hand. When God disciplines His children, it is always a good thing. Even when it seems to be punishment on the surface, it is for our benefit.

God is serious about sin. If God is dealing with an area of our life then we need to take it seriously. We should not grow faint under God’s discipline. Pastor Eric reminds us that we are being disciplined because God loves us. He is at work in us for our own good. It also helps to remind ourselves that every person receives discipline and we are not alone.

As we continue to study Chapter 1 of Judges, Pastor Eric will ask us “what things has God asked us to get rid of?” This is such a hard question. We are like babies that don’t want to give up their blanket. We protest that we cannot let it go, but we forget that Christ died on the cross and rose again to make it possible for us to do so.

We will begin to study the Book of Judges with Pastor Eric today. Judges is known as “The Book of Failures.” There is a lot that we can learn from this book. Hopefully, we will learn from other people’s mistakes and grow closer to God because of what we will see in the Nation of Israel as they take steps further and further away from God.

Anytime there's a great work of the Lord, satan is lurking right around the corner.As Disciples of Jesus Christ, we need to know that we must stand strong in the Lord and the power of His might. We need to be ever watchful in prayer so that we're not unaware when satan tries to sneak in to see who he can kill or destroy.
