White Privilege In The Wellness Industry Ft. Dana Samuel

This week Aleen and Sami are joined by Betches Media’s own Dana Samuel to have an open conversation about race and wellness. They start with Dana’s experience as a person of color during this time of social upheaval, and she shares stories from childhood about experiencing racism at an early age. Then they dive into a conversation about the ways in which race and white privilege play a role in the fitness industry. Why is it so hard to find a black fitness instructor? They also talk about the lack of mental health resources available to the black community. Next, they discuss microaggressions, give examples of how your compliments can feel like insults, and Dana explains what she hopes we get out of this much needed movement.
