How Witches Use Important Guidelines for the Tarot – Ep. 275

In today's episode, we're going to talk about how witches use important guidelines for the tarot. One evening, I was at a Chinese restaurant with a friend. We completed our dinner, and my friend opened up the fortune cookie, and they found nothing in it. And I saw their face. They were shocked.

But after a moment, they said, okay, I'm going to write my own fortune. And they wrote something like this. Your future is wide open for joy and success and health.

This situation about the fortune cookie reminds me of three insights about the tarot. And the first insight is take a pause before you take action. So my friend with a fortune cookie took a pause. If you've been working with the tarot for a while, you probably have come across certain spreads that shook you up. And for those spreads, I suggest you take a pause before you take action. Sometimes our first impressions are colored by fear.

And if you act in a fearful manner, you might lose an opportunity or you may create trouble. It's good to take a pause and perhaps talk with a trusted friend or spiritual elder. Then you can avoid taking the wrong action.

And now our second insight. It is a glimpse of the future at the time of the tarot spread. If a certain spread looks scary to you, realize that it's only a glimpse of the future of that particular time. You could always change the outcome by changing your behavior or even changing your thoughts. For example, if the tarot spread suggests that you're going to lose an opportunity, you can decide to add new actions in life.

For example, my friend Angela was afraid of losing her job, so she practiced with three friends and she rehearsed what she would say to her boss. And because she did that rehearsal, if she did another tarot spread, it would likely be different because she changed some of the elements. The first spread was based on her not being prepared, but then she rehearsed with three friends, so she changed her future.

And now the third insight. If you're baffled, talk to the gods. In this incarnation on the earth, we are limited, but the gods are limitless. They see our whole destiny across our lifetimes. So meditate and talk with the gods and hear them speak to you through your inner voice. And sometimes the gods can speak to us through our intuition. So if you have a tough trough spread, spread. Consider meditating. If you're baffled, talk to the gods. And now, let's pull this all together.

It's up to us to skillfully use the tarot, and we realize it is good to pause before we take action. Part of this is, a particular spread is only a glimpse of a particular future at that moment. Your new thoughts and your new behaviors can change your future. And remember, if you're baffled, talk to the gods. And now I will summarize.
