¶ Introduction
Hi, I'm Moonwater Silverclaw, and I'm the founder of GoddessHasYourBack.com and the author of nine books and three online courses on Udemy.com. In today's episode, we're going to talk about how witches handle people-pleasing versus patience. One time I got into a conversation with someone I know named Sophie. I praised her. I told her, you're so patient. And then she got a strange look on her face. She said, I'm not patient. On the inside, I'm fuming.
Then I gently asked, so what's going on there? She said, I learned that people think you're not nice if you don't seem easygoing. She continued and said, I wear a mask. And this gave me a lot to think about. And I have three insights for you.
¶ Understanding People-Pleasing vs Patience
The first insight is know the difference between people pleasing and patience. Do you know anyone who's a people pleaser? I know one. That's me. My concern is I just don't want people to be mad at me. So I'm not coming from a place of spiritual calm, and I'm not coming from patience. Patience involves being calm on the inside and accepting the flow of life. You've probably seen a lot of impatient people standing in the lines of grocery stores.
It's like they expect things to move faster. They seem to focus on themselves as more important than others. They do not accept the natural flow of life. A people pleaser lives lives in a state of anxiety. Do other people think I'm nice? Will they get mad at me? And do they think I'm incompetent? As witches, we do well to learn from the natural world. The natural world has seasons. A person can be fuming and impatient, but then winter shows up when it does, and it it leaves when it does.
When we do ritual magic, we must be in sync with the natural energies. And in our daily lives, it's good to cultivate calm and patience.
¶ Transitioning to Patience
And now our second insight, shift to patience. For spiritual people, the cultivation of a conscious breath is valuable. When you feel the grinding energy inside you, take in a deep breath. Think goddess relaxes me. The gods know the best route. And the god strengthens me. Breathing in deep through your nose helps you make a transition. Now it's natural to have grinding energy when you're pressed upon.
Here's the secret. You don't have to stay there. Use your conscious breath and shift to patience.
¶ Seeking Inner Resources from the Goddess
And now our third insight. Ask the goddess to help you build your inner resources. The external culture is designed to keep you on a shallow level. Social media is designed to be addictive and to keep people upset. And that's how people's eyes stay glued to certain channels. We're specifically talking about those influencers who want to keep people angry. We witches need to make a shift. Don't hesitate to call upon the goddess.
She wants to help you build your inner resources, your inner resources of calm and patience. When we look at the natural world, we realize that different beings have different relations to time.
¶ Perspectives on Time and Patience
For example, the The mayfly only lives for 24 hours. On the other hand, the giant sequoia trees in California can live for over 3,500 years. The gods have blessed us to be able to shift our perspective. The people pleaser has a moment-to-moment concern about not making people angry and having the reputation of being nice. However, the person with common patience is more like the sequoia tree. Their value comes from their inner life. They know that they are an expression of deity.
That is, they are an expression of the god and goddess. So when the spiritual people are kind to people, it's recognizing deity in each one of us. And that is the source of true patience.
¶ Embracing Inner Value from the Deity
And now, let's pull this all together. We witches can start with the inner knowing that our value comes from the god and goddess. Pleasing people is not that important. People-pleasing is not the same as knowing how to get along with people. People-pleasing is an anxious approach to daily life. On the other hand, when we shift to patience, we're shifting to another level, a level of inner knowing and inner peace that God's placed within us.
And now I'll summarize. The first insight is know the difference between people-pleasing and patience. The second insight is shift to patience. And number three, ask the goddess to help you build your inner resources.
