¶ The Power of Language and Perspective
Hello one more time .
Hello , hello , hello .
Welcome , welcome back . God's diamonds in the rough , the podcast amen . We're so glad to be back with you one more week , Amen . How are you feeling , honey ?
You know , as we was talking last week . You know I was so anxious to get into this week because you know it was revealing a lot of things . You know that you know we might have just sort of like overlooked in life .
You know , because you know I think we were talking about our language last week and it spoke volume about you know how this is simple gestures or you know not even .
You know , and as I get into that you know about the gestures , it's like I lost my train of thought , but I'm gonna come back back to it because you know , just like when I was mentioning , like last week , you know the folded of your arms . You don't even have to say a word , just your body language itself . It speaks volumes .
And sometimes you know we overlook those things in life as we go day to day .
Amen .
Yeah , so I'm just so excited about this week .
Yeah , last week was very , very much . It's a powerful thing because you know , what thing I've realized in doing this podcast is that you know it's accountability . You know it's easy to tell somebody , but it's another thing when you are actually expressing it yourself . It makes you , it keeps you in check . You know what I mean It really does .
So before we go any further , y'all let's go ahead and pray .
Let's pray . Dear Father , our Lord , our Savior , Jesus Christ , we just come to you right now begging you for getting to say anything we might have said , done or thought . Let's not please any of you . It's a great to forgive us and catch back in the picture of where it came from . As we get into your word .
We pray in the name of Jesus that your people will just follow along and listen and take heed to what you're trying to tell us , to your word and to your service in the Bible . We pray in the name of Jesus that you give us the revelation , that we will give the revelations , and somebody will receive the revelation for what it is the truth .
We pray in the name of Jesus casting any assignment of the enemy back into the picture where it came from , for has no power or no dominion over your people , but we can speak authority to it by your word and your grace and your mercy . These things and all things we ask , all in Jesus' presence and mighty name .
We say thank you and we say amen , amen and amen , amen , amen .
To God be the glory , hallelujah . So , honey , did you have any encounter where you had to stop a minute Because , you know , last week was like a big focus on how we're speaking and the words that we're saying . Did you have any ? was that a challenge for you at all ?
It was a challenge because , you know , i was more of a blunt person when it came to you know things in life , and I would say definitely that I was also the type of person that didn't single-coat nothing . Right , god made me really look at the way I address people , had one incident at my job .
Well , it was a dangerous situation and they set up things to keep people out of that area , but people would still continue to walk through there And I wanted to , in the flesh . I wanted to just grab them up and ask them what is their problem ? Do you see that ? Do you know what that is for ?
But God had me address that situation , but he had me address it in a different manner . That really kind of made me look back at myself and like , whoa , did I just address it like that ? You know , that's something that I never , rarely , ever , did . I was , you know , it was like bam , bam , bam type of thing . But God made me realize a look .
Sometimes we need to address situations in a different tone because you get different results from it . So I would definitely say , yeah , i had a very interesting encounter after reading this .
Well , i for sure definitely did as well . And you know , the one that comes to mind , that is a constant challenge for me , is how I talk to our youngest daughter , because she has some challenges in her cognitive and logical thinking , and y'all apologize I do apologize for putting something out of the stir .
Let's see , she has challenges in her cognitive and logical thinking And so therefore , you know what I take as a norm or just something that's like you should know . That type of thing . I had to come back . It's like the spirit had to come . She don't know that . You know what I mean . It's like you gotta teach her that , you know .
And so it's like we gotta be careful . What I learned in that and what I'm learning , it's still a process because you know , i've never had to deal with it . You know what I mean , honey . I never had to deal with it , and so patience is definitely a must , amen . You gotta have patience with who you're dealing with .
You also gotta have patience with yourself And if you're wrong , say you're wrong , amen . If you realize that you are out of order , best things you can do is apologize and fix it . You know what I mean , not try to excuse it or say well , you know you shouldn't throw off a whole lot of blame . No , just see where you're wrong and fix it .
Because he said in verse 11 of the passage of scripture that we went over last week about the fact . He said he asked a question to do with a fountain sitting forth at the same place sweet water and bitter . You know what I mean . Even when you mess up , how does it remain sweet ? It remains sweet by you correcting it . You know what I mean .
That's how it remains . Sweet Doesn't mean that you don't make a mistake , man . Doesn't mean that you don't do or say the wrong thing . This is that when you realize that you're wrong , you fix it . So it'll stay sweet . You know what I mean . You wanna add anything to that ?
Yeah , and you can also equate that to teaching about the word of God . We gotta realize that you cannot address everybody in the same manner , because not everybody is on the same level as you are . Right , right , And you know , even if you don't have that , as our daughter has that , that disability .
they call it disability , disability but you know we also gotta think that it's not I wouldn't say it's a disability for us to learn the word , because you know everybody's not on that same intellect , so to speak . So you gotta be a cautious about not only you know things like on that matter , but when you spread a word to somebody else .
Right , right . So you know what we got , what see , what the real challenge is for all of us , especially those of us who know who Jesus is . The real challenges is that we take his kingdom into this earth You know , i mean handling things the way that Jesus handle it in his word Into where we are now . We got to learn how to handle it .
We've been saying it and we've said it and we continue to say it we have to adopt his mindset , adopt his way . This is the only way . This is how we can Literally see transformation happening before us . You know what I mean . This is how we see what was once dead come alive .
Remembering here that here , in this season , we're talking about revival Mm-hmm , amen . And so you know when we , as we are , you know , moving through This podcast , in this moment , in this season , we , in this , this particular episode , we're talking about perspective .
Amen , that is attached to our language , because if our perspective or mindset doesn't change , then our language won't change .
Mm-hmm .
Amen . And so when we , when we find that's why I say when we find that We act , that we are , we know better and we're not doing better , maybe we need to change how we are looking at it and how we're perceiving it , mm-hmm , and really see Earthly wisdom and Heavenly wisdom .
Because if we look on in James and we go on to the end of the chapter , carrying forth to the end of the chapter , that's a , that's what he's trying to teach us the difference between looking at something in an earthly perspective or way and a heavenly way or perspective .
Either way , at the end of the day , how you look at it , it is Wisdom and we have to move with a heavenly Hindsight , a heavenly perspective . What's your thought , honey ?
You know , when you , when you put it in that , in that Form of the perspective you know , attach our language , i would definitely say you know , it brings me back to something that I've always , always taught growing up It's not what you say , it's how you say it exactly , exactly because you look back at James 3 , verse 8 , when it says but the tongue can no
maintain . It is an unruly evil , full of dizzy , poor , daily poison . It's not how . What you say is how you say , because you might tell somebody Hey , um , go over there and do this And that's the right way . What , what they supposed to be going to do ? But if you bark off orders like you are drill sergeant , it hasn't effective . How they going ?
how they going to carry ?
they're gonna perceive it like oh , you're talking to me like I'm a child , yeah , child Yeah . And rather than them receiving it as okay , this is a supervisor , i'm the poor employee , i am , and I am , you know , the one who's being laid . They're gonna look at it . Hey , i'm a grown man , you're grown man . You don't talk to me like that .
You know , what I mean . So how you say you must get over there and go do such such such a . They receive it like who you think you talking to . But you say can you go over there and do that for me Please , really quick , cuz I'm over here and I got to do this . That , yeah , that's all sure , no matter , no problem . Yeah , did you see ?
that's too totally different . Responses too , totally different . Um , what's the word receptions ? you know he's receiving it . How you're receiving it is different Based on the tone .
You know what I mean , and and and here's the thing if we look at the word like it's , like Gotta do this or you got it , we look at the word and we , as men and women of of the cross or of Jesus , we walk around with the attitude to say we gotta do this , you gotta do that .
If we walk around with that type of mindset and that type of attitude , people gonna immediately , they're gonna reject it . You know what I mean . He doesn't desire for us to look at his word like it is , like it say uh , let's say what's the word I'm looking for . Honey , feel my sentence . Come on , what's the word I'm looking for ?
Oh , you don't know , i See , come on , y'all . What's the word y'all ? Looking at the word like it's a I don't know , i can't even think of a good word , because and I say that because you know people , they don't want to , they don't want to do what they don't want to do .
And when you put the Bible in front of them and you say , well , this is the order and you have to do it this way , if they don't understand the why , or even given a choice , then you know people can mess up what God intended on being a choice by making it a requirement . Let's put it that way .
You know , they're making it a requirement , making it like , you know , and anything that somebody tell you you have to do is something inside of our flesh that says , no , i'm not , i don't have to do that .
You know what I mean and I think that one again , i think that when people present the gospel in that way , off the jump , before they even have a chance to think about what's being said to them or understand what's being , they didn't already decided on that thing ? for me , i don't want to do that , you know .
Yeah , i thought now , i was just thinking . You know that's , you know the outward look of people calling religious folk or relational folks ? by what Bible ?
numbers . That's the word a mandate , because a mandate says this is the order and you have to do this . If you don't do it this way , then you're not doing it right mm-hmm .
And , like I said , that's how so many people reflect back on Christians or relationship questions , because it's one thing of being a religion or Christian , and a religion like relational Christian .
They they look at us as Bible numbers because they say you know , and it's written in the word of what you do , and there's so many people that take that scripture and beat some over the head with it . Mm-hmm , that's why you have so many people . I believe that's that's pushed away from the knowledge .
I looked at you like that because I just never heard that word before like that in that same cent would you say relational Christians and religion or Christian .
I just never heard it say like this because you can , you can have a , you can have a form of God in this , but if you don't have the relationship with Jesus , which is a relational , a relational Christian , I'm staying now , honey , stop it anyways , yeah . I had a me , a me , a Michael moment yeah , cuz he wanted to tell me something .
Yeah , i have me a Michael moment , uh-huh , you thought you was telling me something . Huh , yeah , it's alright . It's alright , but anyway , finish your thought oh , that was my thought that was your thought . Yeah , my thought . Well , i hope did y'all understood it . Break it down one more time , cuz I interrupted
¶ Understanding and Healing From Past Hurts
.
Make sure that that everybody clear understand what you were saying what I was saying was you know when you , when you think you're under that mandate , when it's like a mandate of living tones , of what you're expressing , you know . That's why so many when they had those ways of I don't know who he talked to . I'm a grown man or I'm a grown woman .
It's even with that , with the word of God , because you have people that take those scriptures and it's like you pounding them over the head with it , and that's why you get so many people . They look at us as a view of being a Bible thumper , because like it's like you got to do this , this is what the word says and all that .
That's what a Bible thumper is .
Well , i think you know what I think . I think that a lot of people , people who take that terminology and look at the gospel that way and they look at people like us like that as to be Bible thumpers or whatever have you It's because they don't understand who he is . You know what I mean . They don't understand why we are adamant about what we do .
They don't understand or that they've been hurt . A lot of people take that tone because they've been hurt . They gave their whole heart and then somebody was representing it wrong . You know what I mean . So you know this is I . You know I thought that this is . I guess it's still connected because it's the last episode .
We talked a lot about offensive word And it seems like to me this is kind of carrying on that same conversation , because so often time perspective has a lot to do with how people receive what you are saying . You know what I mean And you know if you've been hurt by the church , you've been hurt by somebody that represented wrong .
For some it's hard to bounce back from that . You know what I mean , because it wasn't really about Jesus , it was about the people and because the people offended , the people hurt , because the people were people . They put their faith in , their confidence in the wrong person .
They didn't put their faith in Jesus , but they put their faith in a man or a woman and that man or woman failed them . You know what I mean ? We're none of us are perfect beings And when you look at a person you say , oh well , they're everything . They're the gospel there . Look , at the end of the day , we're all a flesh . We all have flesh .
We are wrapped up in flesh , but thankfully he has given us the ability to be led by the spirit . And when we first come into Christ we don't always understand that . It ain't about us mandating anything When we first come in . It's all about sharing the gospel . Sharing . You got to do this and you got to do this .
But as you mature , you understand the beauty of grace , amen . You understand the beauty in waiting . You understand the beauty in the things that , again , when you first come in , you're looking like why I need to do that . Well , you know your mind can't understand because we're going so fast , just like a baby going so fast and we ain't got time to think .
You know what I mean . Because when you mature , and as you mature , you understand . Hey , that's going to take time , hey , it don't happen overnight . But when you first come in , you're boom , boom , boom . You from this place and that place . You're doing this , doing that . You know what I mean . You on fire for the Lord . We all should be .
But we learn through rejection . We learn from people talking about us . We learn all kinds of things that mature us . If we're in the relationship and it's about Jesus , it doesn't harm us and it doesn't hurt us , but it does mature us . The hurt and the pain doesn't last for a long period of time .
It becomes that hurt and pain and becomes wisdom , because you learn from your mistakes . Okay , I don't need to do that , i'm not going to do that . Look , when I handled that the last time , i didn't handle it correctly . They got hurt in the midst of it , or they thought I was talking about them . They thought this you understand what I'm saying .
Does that make sense . And you know , when you put it in that perspective , as you know a baby and just hit me off a man you take a newborn and watch this . This is the way and I think it's relevant to this because you know you mentioned about the newborn and getting hurt and all that Watch this .
You take a newborn , for example , and you know a newborn always going to try to run before that child can walk , and the child will always the newborn will always topple over and hurt itself . But this is the beauty about it The child , the newborn , can heal . So can you .
That's right , you know , just because you run so fast and you topple over and you get hurt , just remember that you can be healed .
Right Amen .
But it's a process .
Process . Absolutely , let me read this passage of scripture . So you know , because we're getting ready to come to an end . I want to read this passage of scripture because it it comes right along everything that has been said on today . So I'm going to just read it .
Then we're going to pray and we're going to give our final thought And you know , prayerfully you can receive what is being said because , as we've said and what we've been doing , everything that we're trying to say we wanted to make sure it's aligned with the Word of God , amen . So let's listen . Verse 13, .
He says Who is a man and in due with knowledge among you , let him show , out of a good conversation , his works with meekness of wisdom . He says But if ye have bitter envy and strife in your hearts , glory not and lie not against the truth . This wisdom descended not from above but is earthly , sensual , devilish , he says .
For where in being and strife is there is confusion and every evil work . But the wisdom that is from above is first pure , then peaceable , gentle and easy to be entreated . It's full of mercy and good fruit , without partiality and without hypocrisy . The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace , amen . That makes sense .
I just believe that everything that has been said thus far lines right up with this , because the reality is is that , look , when you're walking in him and you're doing it the way he desires for you to do it , and you are learning and you're walking through the process , it is pure Amen .
We honestly make mistakes all the time , we honestly walk through the wrong doors all the time , but in it comes out of it peace , because you learn from your mistakes . Out of it comes peace , you become a little bit more gentler . This is maturation , spiritual maturation . And look , and what you learn is easy to be possessed and treated . Amen , he says .
And you learn how to be merciful and you practice and you give good fruits . You practice it without Oh well , he did this and she did that . No , you do it without partiality and without hypocrisy , meaning you're not saying one thing to them and then turn around behind them doing something else . Hallelujah , he says the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace .
Amen , he says of them that make peace . So you got to be about him , about him and about his business , so that what he's doing through you is made effective in you . Hallelujah , that's my final word , honey .
You know , my final word is simply what I just said a few minutes ago . Add a little bit more to it . You know , it doesn't matter how many times you fall down into mistakes that we make in life , get up , brush your clothes off , keep it moving , keep going to the next chapter in your life .
Don't sit there or lay there and wallow in your pain because when you're wallowing your pain , you can't get , you can't , you cannot heal because you weren't about so many things that you done in your life wrong that you can't see the good or the reason why you failed .
Because you have to fall in life and get hurt in life to what God was strengthening you in your walk with him . If you sit there and lay down in that pain and that hurt and that thing that's going on in your life , whether it be in your family life , in your marriage life , even in your Christian life , how can you heal ?
You can't get up , brush dirt off your shoulders , even if you got to brush it off your head to your toes , and get up and walk . He tells us in his word get up and pick up your . What was that word ?
he says pick up your bed and walk pick up your cross and follow me .
Pick up your bed and walk . You cannot just lay there in your pain . That's my final word .
Hallelujah The Spray . Father , we thank you so much for your word . We thank you , god , for every word that has been said . We thank you for everyone that you drew here into this place to hear this word . Bless everyone , god . Bless them in the name of Jesus , that your will will be done in and through them . Father , we bless your name and we thank you .
Pray this prayer in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ , we do pray , amen . Amen . Let us know what you think , amen , let us know your thoughts . Let us know what you thought of the podcast . Maybe some of the questions that we asked , maybe you answer them . Amen , we want you to .
