Hello , hello , and welcome back to Learning to Live in Truth . So glad to be before you one more time . I hope all is well . You are having a great day , a great night , whenever you're listening to this Amen , always excited to get into the word of God . So grateful that you would listen , amen , that you would allow the Spirit to use me to help you .
So glad that I can be here , amen . So we are right at chapter 4 , picking up at the 16th verse . Amen , I'm not going to waste any time just because we don't have very long to be before you , so let's go ahead and pray and get into it , amen . So , father , we thank you so much for your grace and your mercy .
Thank you , god , for allowing us yet another day to be able to do something that is pleasing in your sight . Pray that your will will be done here . Pray , god , that you'll continue to bless this platform , continue to bless every diamond that comes forth to here . Pray , god , that where they are , you will meet them there . I pray in the name of Jesus .
Eyes and ears will be open to hear and see what it is that you have to give . Father , we love you so much . We're so very grateful , so thankful . We pray it , we ask it in Jesus Christ's name . We do pray amen , amen , hallelujah . I didn't introduce myself because you should know who I am by damn , but my name is kathleen amen .
I am also pastor of exposed life change ministry , amen . And we are always exposing the enemy . Amen , exposing them , so you cannot have power in our life , that we can genuinely truly be changed for the glory of god . Amen . That is what my ministry is all about . Amen .
Here's just one of the extensions amen , where we can um , where the lord is using me to help you through the word of God . Amen , book by book and verse by verse . Amen as he leads us . So we stopped yesterday on uh at verse 15 and we're gonna pick up right here at 16 of Genesis , chapter 4 . Make sure you got your bibles .
If you're listening in the car , get your ears ears tuned in and wide open , amen . But also pay attention to that road . You heard me . Come on somebody . Hallelujah . Excuse the ding . Amen , that was my messenger .
But verse 16 says and Cain went from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod and the , and let's see , in the land of Nod , on the east of Eden and Cain knew his wife and she conceived and bare Enoch and he built a city and they called the name of the city after the name of his son , enoch .
Okay , so in the meantime some time has definitely passed and Cain is dwelling in the land of Nod and now has met his wife , now having a child . His child is a builder Architecture , yeah , works with his hand and built this city called Enoch .
Obviously a lot of time , a lot of space in between , but this is obviously because it's there , because it's highlighted . It is this young man , enoch . Uh is important um to um what God is building , amen .
So verse 18 , he says and unto Enoch was born Irid , and Irid begat Mahu child and my who child child , he says , began a Methusel and Methusel begot Lamarck Lamech . Okay , so we getting into the lineage a little bit here . So y'all bear with me with pronunciation . I'll do the best that I can . Every time I do this uh gets a little bit better .
Praise god , hallelujah , but y'all bear with me , amen . So verse 19 he said lamech took up or took unto him two , and the name of one was Ada and the name of the other Zillah , and Ada buried Jabal . He was the father of such as dwell in tents and of such as have cattle , and his brother's name was Jubal .
And his brother's name was Jubal , he was the father of all such as handled the harp and organ . Okay , so he's the father of musicians , okay , and Zillah . She also bore Tubalcan , an instructor of every artificer in brass and iron , and so he was a blacksmith and the sister of Tubalcan was .
And Lamech said unto his wives , adah and Zillah hear my voice , ye wives of Lamech , hearken unto my speech , for I have slain a man to my wounding and a young man to my hurt . If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold , truly , lamech , seventy and seven fold . And Adam knew his wife again and said oh , and she bare a son and called his name Seth .
For God said she hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel , whom Cain slew and saith to him . Also , there was born a son and he called his name Enos . Then began men to call upon the name of the Lord . Okay , so I just read the whole thing to finish it out . So let's kind of back up of the lord .
Okay , so I just read the whole thing to finish it out . So let's kind of back up , all right . So last thing I commented on was it's a blacksmith , this is okay .
So lemak had two wives and so you got ada and look , lilla , zilla , I'm sorry , um , the name of one was okay that his first wife , or one of his wives , or Jabal , and then Jabal became the father of , let's see , he was the father of such as dwell in tents and of such as have cattle . So he's the father .
He became like a shepherd , I guess you could say . And his other wife , she bore Zabulkin . No Zabookin , no Tubalkin , I don't know in the word y'all , he said an instructor and of every officiator of Brass and I a blacksmith and a sister . So Zilla had a daughter as well and sister of Tubalkin . Tubalkin was not Maya , I'm sorry , y' like , it's not like .
It probably got a little low as far as the volume . I'm just trying to figure out the words . I want to make sure that I'm saying as best as I can . Um , the mac told his two wives to listen to what he was saying . He said I have slain a man to my wounding and a young man to my hurt . So what does that mean ? Let's see .
Let's look at the commentary . Make sure we got a full understanding . Lamech's speech , the longest by a human being To this point in the Bible , represents the dark climax Of the Canaan Canaanite Genealogy . His level of retaliation against A man for wounding him and a young man who merely hurt him Goes far beyond the biblical limits .
Okay , so along the way he got hurt and so he wants to retaliate . He physically got hurt , and another one , let's see . And a young man who merely hurt him Goes far beyond the biblical limits , and his boast of killing for vengeance foreshadows the violence that led to the flood in Noah's day .
Oh , okay , so he committed the second murder , and it lets us know these are just a couple of the reasons why . Which the Lord was , he was upset with himself , he had me and man had just gone buck wild . Basically , this is why he flooded the earth , because man had just gone buck wild .
Basically , this is why he flooded the earth , because man had just gone buck wild . And this lets us know , based on the commentary and what we're hearing in the spirit . They said this was like a , a the first murder was an open door to to this , this sort of sin , yeah , and so this furthered that .
It was like , now that that door was open , it was like sin began to come in . But you know , even though sin has its authority , it doesn't prevail . Sin doesn't prevail because sin is not from God and we know that he already defeated death , because sin , that's what sin leads to death and Jesus , through his obedience , gained victory over death .
So , I don't care how much strength have , how much strength sin and death sin has , how much uh destruction it causes , how much pain , how much murder , how much everything that's attached to sin , it still doesn't win , you know . But it's definitely a thing , sin . I mean , you'd be a fool to not admit that . Sin doesn't have power , because it does .
It does it ? Sin kills , steals and destroys ? Yeah , it does it , but it doesn't prevail the end of the day , even though , uh , just like a tornado or or a hurricane or anything , that is strong , it's strong and it does leave a mark , but it doesn't kill or destroy the purpose of the plan of god .
It doesn't because we see , um , the aftermath of a , of a tornado , the aftermath of hurricanes , how it destroys , uh , whatever comes into its path . But it does not , um , it does not completely defeat .
I mean , some places don't rebuild some homes , some old homes can't be rebuilt , sure enough , but a new home can be built for those who are a victim to it , if that makes any sense . I hope that makes sense . I'm just leaning on the Spirit to guide me in words that make the Scripture verses make sense Amen . So Lamech is like , he's like .
You know , cain killed his brother . He said , you know , I did even worse than he did , and so in a sense he is . Even though he took revenge out on himself , well , he got back at who hurt him . It still doesn't excuse it . Basically , that's what 24 tells me . Yeah , it doesn't excuse the act .
Yeah , even though they did something to you , it does not give you permission to respond or take vengeance , because the Bible does clearly tell us vengeance is mine , amen .
So he knows he's kind of , in a sense , haveouncy over his head Because you know , because he did what he did and you know , from here we don't see anything Any further that Speaks to you know to that . But we'll see , probably In five , because I see Verse 28 and 29 A little bit more about Lamech's Descendants . So we just going to go on .
Then , in 25 and 26 , we see where Adam he impregnates his wife and they have another child . His name is Seth , and then this is when they say that men began to call the name of the Lord . So we'll stop right there . I know it's kind of early , but we'll stop there and get into five for tomorrow .
We actually recently did this in a Bible study that we have on Wednesdays from 5 to 6 on site .
We went through Genesis and now we are in Exodus , and so in doing this previously , I can tell you that these descendants people typically just kind of brush over it , but they're important to understanding who's who as we go along in the other chapter of the Bible .
So you know , I highly suggest writing down , kind of doing like a family tree with the descendants . It is difficult to do . I've tried to do in personal study . It's a difficult thing to do , but it can be done if you put your mind to it .
So you know , that's one task that you could probably add on to as we go through here , as we begin to get into the descendants . You could build a tree , and I myself I think I might do that Just kind of , just to do it , just to do it , to have it to kind of look at maybe in other teaching sessions , and so there you have it for today Y'all .
Make sure y'all come on back with me tomorrow as we dig . Make sure you bring your pen and your paper , something to write down or try to create your family tree , starting in the beginning . So , without further ado , let's go ahead and pray . Father , we thank you so much . Be a grace and your mercy . Once again , we bless your name as we bless your people .
I thank you so much for drawing us yet again here to get into your word . Pray that all is pleasing and acceptable in your sight . Pray that I've done it well . Pray that you are pleased . I pray that everyone , every diamond that is here , they got what they were supposed to get out of the lesson .
I pray the blessings of the Lord be upon your people as we continue to go forth in your name . We pray that this is again pleasing to you . We pray all of it in the precious name of Jesus Christ . We do pray . Amen , amen and amen . Again , come on back with me tomorrow and let's pick it up , chapter 5 .
So many blessings , so much love from me to you Y'all . Have a good day and a good night . Amen , amen and amen .
