#137 LTLT S5 EP 11: Living in Truth: Prioritizing Divine Love Over Worldly Attachments

I'm always excited to be before you To be a help in the time that we live in so much social media , so many things that distract us and confuse us . I praise God and I thank God that you trust what God has given me . Amen , here , each and every week , hallelujah . So , without further ado , let us go ahead and pray .

Father , we thank you so much for this day . Thank you , god , for allowing us this day and this time , god , to be able to get into your word . Father , I just pray that you will use your servant here to your glory . I pray that everyone that is here , god , is here to seek your face .

I pray , god , that you would just speak now in such a way that not one of us can miss what you're saying to us individually and corporately . Father , we love you so much , so so much , god , and we also yield up the burdens that try to weigh us down .

We yield up the problems and the things that we don't have an answer to , realizing and knowing and understanding that you are the way maker where there is none . Father , we love you so much and we bless your name as we bless your people . In jesus christ's name , I do pray , amen , amen and amen , hallelujah , amen .

So today we're going to pick up in um first , john uh , chapter 2 , 1 , john 2 , verse 15 . Now , I know , on the last time we got together , which was Thursday , we stopped at 16 and left with a question of Are you in the world ? Amen , that was my question for the wrap-up of Thursday's episode .

But we're going to go back over that verse again and really speak to that question and hear what the Lord has to say about all that he is saying to us in this time and in this season . Amen , hallelujah . So before I get started good into the scripture , I just also wanted to recognize the music in the background .

We want to get credit to where it is due and it is called the Relaxed Movement Amen Channel on YouTube . Again , the Relaxed Movement , again the relaxed movement .

So if you , you're one , if you're like me and I'm meditating or I'm here talking to you , uh , you could go to that channel and subscribe to that channel and hear that music while you're studying , while you're praying , while you're meditating , while you're relaxing , whatever you're doing it always for me it's a , it's a form of therapy , amen , when I can hear

just a little something in the background , especially while I'm meditating . Amen . So I wanted to drop that out there . Amen , shout out to the relaxed movement , amen . I'm trying to remember to take them out when we put up the show notes . Amen , amen , and I hope that you can hear them because I don't want the music to overpower my voice . Amen .

We want to make sure that we're getting the word hallelujah , amen . Okay , so I think we got all of that together . Amen . Now we can jump into chapter again . First , john , chapter 2 , again 1 , john 2 , verse 15 .

If you're at home and you're able to sit down and slow down for a minute to really hear the word on tonight or on today , make sure you have a journal so you can write down any side notes . The Spirit might give you Amen , hallelujah .

But if you're just riding in the car listening , I pray that all that you hear would be a blessing into your heart and your spirit , amen , amen , hallelujah . Sorry for the pause , I got to drink my tea y'all . Amen , hallelujah . So verse 15 says love , not the world , neither the things that are in the world .

He says if any man loved the world , the love of the father is not in him , amen . Now , when we start off chapter two , we find that John lets us know that Jesus is advocating on our behalf . Amen .

And the reality that we have a voice that is , you know , is speaking to the Father for us , and you know he's moving things and shifting things for our blessing and for our good . Amen . The least we can do is to love him above the world . Amen . Come on somebody , hallelujah . That question on thursday . Again , I ask you are you in the world ?

Amen , are you serving the world ? Amen , are you , uh , all about yourself ? Amen , because the word says if any man loved the world , the love of the father is not in him , amen . And then we'll see . Here's the thing when we find ourselves guilty of the thing that the spirit speaks to us , that is our opportunity to repent . Amen .

None of us are perfect people , hallelujah . As long as we are in Christ , we are growing , amen . And as we grow and we find and we discover the things that are not like him . It is up to us to choose to repent so that our steps can be changed . Hallelujah , as our steps are changed , our minds are changed . Hallelujah .

As our steps are changed , our minds are changed , amen , hallelujah . Jesus works on our heart . Amen , so that we can be transparent with him and be real with ourselves . Amen . A whole lot of time we don't want to admit our flaws , we don't want to admit the things that are , uh , are out of order of out of alignment .

But I'm telling you , the only way that you'll truly grow uh properly , you're going to grow in the manner that you will reproduce , is if you be honest with yourself . Yeah , yeah , that's a word . Amen , amen . He says look , if you love the world and you don't love , then you don't have the love of the father .

Amen , because and I believe the biggest difference between the world and our godly world is our godly love is that the world's love is based out of conditions , whereas the father's love is unconditional . Amen , hallelujah , I'm gonna say that again . The world's love is based out of uh conditions . What do I mean ?

I mean uh , well , if you , if you , um , well , if you , if you um praise me , if you clap for me , then I'll , I'll um be there for you . If you come to my church , then I'll come to yours . Come on somebody , if you , if you do this for me , then this is what I'll do for you . This is a conditional type of love , hallelujah .

But unconditional love says even when you're not there , I'm still going to love you , even when you don't come to my church , look , I'm still going to come to yours . Hallelujah , amen . Even when you don't , I will Come on somebody , talk to me . Amen . Amen . Unconditional versus conditional that is the difference between the world and our Father . Verse 16, .

He says for all that is in the world , the lust of the flesh . We explain that amen , the lust of the flesh . And if you didn't get it , uh , on thursday , didn't hear it , go back and listen to it . Amen . He says the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of light of life is not of the father but is of the world . Amen .

These things to further elaborate out of Thursday's episode , these things are the natural fruits that come out of serving the world . Amen . Being in the world , loving like the world loves , amen . These are the fruits that are produced from it . And he says this is not me , amen . This is that of the world . Amen .

When you're chasing and lusting after the things of your flesh and you're following what your eye gates show you , amen . And when you are , uh , you're proud of the pride that you carry forth , amen , it's all . All of those things are rooted in self , not selflessness . Amen . Come on somebody . Jesus , that is a word .

Hey , man , I'm gonna go on hall because if not , we might get stuck again like we did on Thursday with verse 15 and 16 . Amen , taking another sip of the tea , y'all . He says . And the world passeth away . This is why he says to us you got to get beyond the world . Passeth away . This is why he says to us you got to get beyond the world . Amen .

And the things of this world , the days of the flesh , the days of your eyes , the things , the lust of your eyes and the pride of life , he said , because these things are going to pass away . He says and the loss thereof . But he that doeth the will of God abideth forever , hallelujah , amen thereof .

But he that doeth the will of God abideth forever , hallelujah , amen . These things in this world that folks are chasing after , they will pass away , hallelujah . In layman terms , that just means that eventually that thing will die . Amen . It does not last for an eternity , hallelujah .

The cars , the money , the women , the men , Look , the drugs None of those things are going to last the how they make you feel . Amen . It does not last for eternity . Hallelujah . Temporary . The things of this world are temporary , hallelujah . This is why Jesus put so much um , I would say , in regard to ordering our steps .

He orders us to be selfless , because the reality is is that when we serve him , we are building our home in heaven . Amen . Our treasures are in Jesus . Hallelujah , amen . He tells us that . Look , while he's , he said I'm going to make room for you . Hallelujah Talks about that in Revelation . He said I'm making room for you .

Hallelujah talks about that in Revelation . He said I'm making room for you , hallelujah . Yeah , look , some of us got mansions being built in heaven , amen , where some are making it by the skin of their teeth . Ain't that something ? Jesus ? Take a minute . Hall says but he that doeth the will of God . When you do the will of God , there are no limits .

Hallelujah . Doing the will of God Brings us into a place where we're not dependent on the things of this world . Hallelujah , look , doing the will of God gives us a peace that surpasses understanding . Hallelujah , doing the will of God gives us everlasting joy . Amen , these things , amen that doing the will of God bring . They're not dependent upon conditions .

Hallelujah , this is what we have to you , gotta , this is where you gotta get to in regard to understanding why it's so important for us to follow the will of God . Amen . These things are given to us . Amen , they are granted to us because that is who Jesus is . That is who Jesus is . Amen , who Jesus is .

When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior is , look , it is then awakened , hallelujah , amen . And we begin to find out what is in us . Amen . When we renew our minds , hallelujah . When we gain a new perspective of this life , amen .

When we gain a new perspective in regard to what is important and what is not , what is valuable and what is not , what is going to bring or keep me in peace , amen . What is going to keep my joy intact , these are the things that we begin to invest in , hallelujah .

We are not so concerned about having the latest car , the latest phone , the latest , this , the latest that I say it all the time amen , ain't nothing wrong with things , but it's something wrong when the things have you amen , when you get to the point where you just can't let something go and it means the difference between life and death you would rather die

to keep that thing than to let it go and live . Jesus , come on somebody . That is a word Hallelujah . You've got to be willing to let that thing go at the end of the day . Hallelujah , amen , because it's not worth losing my soul for it . Hallelujah , amen . What is it to gain the whole world and to lose your soul ? Come on somebody .

Hallelujah , amen , because if you're chasing after the things of this world , this is exactly what will happen . You'll have the whole world , you'll have all the things that you want , amen . You'll have the cars and you'll have the money and you'll have this and you'll have that , but is your soul going to be with Jesus ? Hallelujah , amen , jesus .

And that's not to say I'm done for the day . Y'all Amen , because we're going to get into antichrist tomorrow . That's not to say that because I have things that I'm not going to make it into heaven . That's not to say that . But again , it comes back to . If those things have you amen , then your soul is a part of it .

Hallelujah , amen , ain't nothing wrong with having things ? Amen , and again , you gotta I don't care what it is , you gotta be willing to let it go In order to follow him . Amen , be willing Doesn't mean you have to , but be willing to let it go To follow him . Amen , amen . Let's pray , father . We thank you so much for your grace and your mercy .

Thank you , god , for allowing us this time To get into your word . Thank you , god , for making this thing simple and plain , where we cannot miss it . We bless your name , father . We bless all that you are and all that we are because of you .

Father , I pray that you'll continue to shape in us for this journey we are on , continue to lead , guide and order our steps in a way that you would have us to go . I pray for every diamond here , god , that we would all see and be able to distinguish the clarity from the muck and the mire .

Hallelujah , where there might be a fog , I pray that you would make the way clear . Those that might be in a dark tunnel right now , that you would bring forth the light that they can see that light at the end . I pray , god , that you would continue to love on us , that we would love on each other the way you desire .

We pray again that your word or your will will be done . Father , we love you so much . We thank you , father , and we pray that this prayer , all of our prayers , are pleasing in your sight . In Jesus Christ's name , we do pray , amen , amen and amen , hallelujah .

So I hope that everyone will come back again on tomorrow as we go on into verse , begin with verse 18 , hallelujah . I got a subtitle beware of antichrist , amen . So I know we'll be talking about that and we should finish out that passage , 18 through 23 on tomorrow . So y'all have a blessed night Again , a blessed day . Amen .

Keep your mind , your heart , your eyes on him . Amen , not the things of this world . Know that he is there , even when it doesn't seem like he is . He is there . Hallelujah , amen . Moments where we think we aren't carrying ourselves , we think it's all over , he's carrying us . Hallelujah , amen . Remember this the teacher doesn't talk during the test . Amen .

You might not hear him because you're in the middle of a test . Hallelujah , pray your way through . Push until something happens .
