#119 S4 EP 29: Growing Spiritually in the Face of Adversity with Kimberly Moses

But before we get into the conversation , y'all know what we've got to do before we do anything .

We come first begging your forgiveness for anything we might have said , done or thought that's not pleasing to your sight , that you'll gracefully forgive us and cast back this bitch to hell , where it came from .

We pray in the name of Jesus , the Holy Spirit , just move about this conversation , move about this platform , move about this world in a way you had designed for it to do . We pray in the name of Jesus that once we do not know who you are , we simply cry out to you what must I do to be saved ?

We pray in the name of Jesus for even the ones that don't know how to ask for help , that you would give them the help anyway . We pray in the name of Jesus that if you give them the help they want the help . That's , first and foremost , that they want the help .

We pray in the name of Jesus counseling any assignment of the enemy that will be sent back into the pit of hell where it came from , for your word says it has no power over us , but we have the power , the dominion and the authority . We ask all these things in Jesus' name . We say thank you , thank you , god .

So , kimberly , can you first , before we really get into the topic at hand , can you really tell us a little bit about yourself ? So I just bless the Lord for an opportunity to be here . I am a Christian publisher . I have published 49 . Well , well , I have 49 of my books that are published out . Um , I'm also an assurance agent .

I'm a wife , I'm a mother two teenage kids I know I don't look like it . All right , my kids are , yeah , they're about to be grown out the house . Yeah , I get it . Um , so that's a little bit about me . Okay , awesome , all right . And so your life's work is to serve the lord , right ? Yes , yes , amen , oh , I have no other way .

Hallelujah , I know , that's right . Uh , if we know , if we know , like we know , the best thing we could do is to serve the Lord . Hallelujah , amen .

So , with the topic at hand life crisis I would like for all of us to kind of give our thought when we think about a life crisis , and we will start with Michael and then I'll give mine and then , kimberly , you give yours . Okay , yeah , in that order .

Because I say alter because you know we , we can go on this thing called life and if we think that everything is going to be good and better and greener , we're fooling ourselves , because we got to understand that things going to happen in life that's going to reflect our everyday life and I consider that as an alter in life , because we got to realize that our

plan is not our plan . It's God's word that says that and anything that steps outside of the way we think life should be is an alter in life . But sometimes there's crisis that isn't really a bad crisis , because there's good crisis that happens in our lives .

What typically do most people , on the average people , do when a crisis comes into their life , or what have you done let's make it personal what have you done when , when a crisis hit your house ?

Um , versus , rather than running to god , running away , because then we I mean the point that I'm making is that you know , over time , as we , we learn that the way is God , but before we learn , the way is God , we try to handle it our own

way . For me , when crisis hit , I can remember financially . When financial crisis hit , in regard to , I'll just say , paying a bill Rather than going and trusting God . Number one , asking somebody that I know loved me and cared about me for help . I decided , well , I'll go down to Cash Advance and go way into debt .

And , yeah , I might have got that bill paid , but I made another bill . I created another mess . You understand what I'm saying . That's what I did for me . I'll just say use myself , for example . Either one of y'all want to share an example .

with the pain and sorrows I was going through Between that and prescription drugs .

Instead of seeking God , you know , I would do things like sleep around , yeah , or shop and spend all this money and I was hurting my myself , you know , because when , when you , you know , commit sexual immorality , you're like committing sin against your own body . You don't realize that and it's creating a bigger mess , bigger mess . You know a wall to go .

So , yeah , yeah . So , diamonds , the point of what we're saying is don't run away from God , run to God , because he is Jehovah Jireh , he is our provider , he is everything that we need him to be . I remember Moses .

He was in the wilderness and he , he came upon the burning bush and he , he really took notice of the bush , because there was smoke coming from it , but there was no fire , and it was consumed . The tree , because there was smoke coming from it , but there was no fire , and it was consumed .

The tree , little bush , was consumed by the fire , but it wasn't burning . And so if anybody , you know , sees something , it's like what in the world was that ? And he said , ooh , wait a minute . It was like the bush was talking to him . If I can remember the story correctly . He's like who are you , you know ?

And he said I am , that , I am , and that just means that you know , I am what you need . Because Moses , in that time , he was in the middle of the desert , he was really running for his life and he needed provision . He needed food , he needed water , he needed shelter , he needed all of these things .

He needed food , he needed water , he needed shelter , he needed all of these things . He needed help and I think as a people and for some reason it's a people of God mainly we don't turn to God . When we have a need , we turn . We try to figure out our own way . You know what I mean . Anybody want to add anything to that our own way .

You know what I mean .

Same thing with you , know , when it comes to god , it's easier to run to god than to run from god , because where you gonna go without god not being there , the more you , the more you think that you're running away from god . You actually getting closer to God because God will break you down to a point that you have no other option but to turn to him .

And it's better to run to him than try to run from him and think you're going to get away . That's right , amen .

You know , using your faith , and I think in a time of crisis , you definitely have to use our faith instead of worrying and doubting and trying to do things in your own strength . You have to believe god , you know , because without faith it's impossible , god .

So I think , in the time of crisis , because you talk about finances , I remember going through an eviction and that was like one of the toughest .

One of the toughest things I had to endure was going through that financial , but god had to show me how to use my faith throughout that process and when I decided to turn to god instead of trying to like take out loans and try to figure out things , make a bigger mess .

Yeah , um , I had to get on my face and pray and pray , and pray and disbelieve god , because god he spoke to me . He said you'll never be homeless in that situation , so out of that situation . He showed up in such a powerful way where somebody called me the next day and they said you know , I had a dream about you and it's like . I gotta help you .

They had just came into a bunch of money , so they moved me out of my apartment I was getting evicted out of and they paid my rent for the rest of the year in another apartment wow , wow , wow it took faith in the time of crisis . That's nobody but god . Absolutely , whoo , that's a word . I know that's right . So how do we get that book ?

Um , you can go . All of my books are on amazoncom . Just type my name kimberly moses . Okay , the name of the book is called walk by faith . Okay , a daily devotion , okay , so , yeah , so are your books more geared toward like a devotional type of book or are they like self-help ? What kind of books do you are you writing ?

Um , so I have a variety of books . I have like three children's books , but all the books are like christian . They're gonna glorify god in some kind of way .

Then I got like some type of thriller type books , but it's Christian dramas , it's about my life , because God delivered me out of like you know , this must be like the LGBT , all that type of stuff he delivered me out of like you know , this must be like the lgbt , all that type of stuff he delivered me out of that lifestyle , so I got a book about my

life , about kind of that lifestyle how I encounter god um . So I got like different type of books I got one supernatural , um , super , uh I can't think of the word of it superhero book , but it's about god , like the person god you see . Like superhero movies yeah , they all were trying to see warlocks and psychics and charm is not kind of crazy .

But my superhero she's seeking jesus you know the book . So I was trying to put you know , just give a different . Yeah , so all of my books are a little bit different . I like it . That's that's good . That's really good , because it speaks to the uniqueness that God has put in every last one of us .

When the crisis comes , it doesn't mean that it's over , and that's something that we try to express with every episode that comes across here . With every episode that comes across here , no matter the topic , that with God , all things are possible , that it's never over . It's never , ever over .

And I was looking for the scripture , ashley , yeah , and I just found it Talking about the purpose of scripture I think I just found it and why it's important for us to turn to God and not away from God in the midst of a crisis . Because he says in 2 Timothy 3 , verse 16 , he says all scripture is given by the inspiration of God .

He said it is profitable , is given by the inspiration of God . He said it is profitable , which profitable means that you have something that already has some kind of value , but he gives it even more value .

And then he says for doctrine , doctrine is a it is it's truth , it's a guaranteed truth and it's going to take you where you need to go , doctrine and a whole lot of folks are following false doctrine . But he's letting us know that scripture , that scripture that comes from his word , the Holy Bible . It is something that you can gain from by following it .

That you can gain from by following it , because when you look at crisis y'all excuse me for a minute , I hit it crisis almost takes away from that . It takes away something out that you think that you need .

But when we turn to god , he shows us , based on ecclesiastes 3 , that everything , life , is a cycle that we're going to lose and we're going to gain all the time .

But coming back to that scripture , y'all he said , for reproof , because when we get into crisis , we wonder , well , why is this door shutting and why is this happening to me and why is that happening to me ? And when we turn to the word , he'll show us okay , well , this is happening because I need to discipline you in the area of money .

You're not handling my money correctly because , at the end of the day , as a child of god , we're called to steward over what he gives us , whether it's money , home , children , husband , wife , whatever , businesses , ministry . We're called to take care of something ourselves , included amen . And he said for correction okay , let's do the math now .

He said for instruction in righteousness . Then he said you know , I give you all of this so that verse 17 , he said the man of God may be perfect , thoroughly furnished . So , again , purpose , he said unto all good works . So when we're going forward to do the will of the Lord , you got to know unexpected things are going to happen in your life .

But the unexpected becomes , really becomes um , when you think about the scripture , we say um , oh , uh , uh , the scripture I'm talking about . He said um , honey , what is it ? The blessing in your hand . So y'all know what I'm talking about . What's that description ? Y'all help me . Y'all help me . Now I can't remember .

It's okay , oh man , oh man , but anyway , yes , yes , that's the one . That's the one I'm talking about . You got 48 , 49 books and they're all different . You know an ordinary person using extraordinary ways . You know you just said that none of your books are the same . You know you go from novelist to self-help to . You know what I mean .

God will use us in ways that we never can expect , and it oftentimes comes out of crisis . So what I'm saying is that the crisis is necessary . As Michael said , the crisis is necessary in order that the fruit the Lord wants to produce out of you can come .

Y'all ever looked at a dying plant ? We think that it's dead , but it's really not . You got to nourish it , you got to do all the extra , you put it in the light and all of that . So , so that so to what's dead can come alive . That's right .

You was talking about the blessing in the hand that's due to romans 28 , 12 all right , all right but you know , we got to think too and use some of the doctrine and get into the word . And the key thing about that is second timothy 2 , 15 , the very first word . He says study . You have to get into the word .

He says study , that self-approved unto God , a workman needed not to be ashamed , rightly devised in the word of truth . And you take that scripture . He's saying look , you have to get into my word . And when people are teaching you you need to make sure it's lining up with my word , because people are going to tell you that okay .

Say , for instance okay , if you don't look outside and you don't look at the sky and see it blue , they can tell you it's purple and you'll believe it . We have to get into his word and make sure his word lines up with what we're being taught .

That's why when you go into a church service and you listen to the getting the word from the some of the preacher or whoever church service and you listen to getting the word from the preacher or whoever bringing the word , you best be getting to that word and follow along with you .

Yes , so we were talking about Francis . That's how I got most of my books .

But it came out of this pain and it came out of dealing with fake friends , phony friends yeah here today . They love me today . But you know , as I grow in god , jealousy comes , or you know that betrayal spirit comes . Like really , I thought you were for me , I thought we were like friends , like right , you know , turn on me like this .

So I'm speaking to god , like you're the one that I love and my heart can trust you . You know you're there you were with me you know , in my , you're there , you were with me . You know , in my mind you were with me when I was going through addiction .

You were with me when I was going through suicidal thoughts , God , you were with me when they were stabbing me in the back , God , you were with me . God , when I was on probation , God you know . So I'm singing to him like you're the one that my heart trusts . Many of us have people that let us down in life phony , fake people . But God is never phony .

He's the best friend that I ever had .

It's just development of that relationship , because I didn't really know that God was real until I went through something , I went through a wilderness encounter and I discovered he is real and I could feel him . You know tangible fire on my skin , or I could hear his voice when I pray .

So it all came out of developing that relationship in the midst of the dark times . Hallelujah amen . So when is your single coming out ? Um , it's already out . It came out June 1st on all major retail , off major streaming networks . I'm thinking about books . I was about to say retail . I gotta get used to talking about music .

Now the album comes out maybe August 1st , okay , alright . Well , we are . I think I have you down for this interview to come out in August , I think . So what's the date ? What's the date ? You said August ? The date is the 17th , 17th August . Okay , I'm gonna try .

I'm gonna see if I can move it around so that this comes out , if I can move it around so that this comes out just before that comes out . So that way it'll throw people in that direction . Amen , because I believe that it's vital that we are helping one another , particularly in the body . Amen .

So , august the 17th , and we are winding down because we actually have another interview to do ourselves and I know we all got life is happening . It ain't stopping because we want to chat and all of that . Amen . So final words , final words , final words from everybody . What's your final word , honey ?

Keep pushing , keep fighting , keep remembering the poem in the footprints in the sand . We got to realize that when we go through things , god has not left us . He's the one that's carrying us through it .

So crisis is a time of an opportunity . You know , you never really know what's in you until you get like it's like pressure . You couldn't pressure . Um , like you know diamonds , you know you're right to create the diamonds or create the pearls , right ?

Neither has it entered into the heart of man to think that you have prepared for those who love you . Hallelujah right now . Bless them , god , everything they put their hands to bless the listeners , god , even in this chaos , god having suicidal thoughts , drinking , smoking , fornicating .

God , bless these people to get to the end of themselves and run to you , god , with everything , yes , god yes god , yes god , come on , yes God , yes God , yes God , hallelujah , yes , yes , hallelujah , amen , amen , hallelujah , y'all .
