¶ Lessons Learned Lead to Impact
Hello , hello , and welcome back to God's Diamonds and the Rough , the podcast . We are so glad to be before you one more time . If you don't know who we are , my name is Catherine and I'm your father . Amen , we are so glad again to be before you . We hope all is well where you are . Amen , we hope that today has been a good day for you .
What about you , honey ?
Very good , always a very good day . When you wake up , you will breathe in this wonderful air .
Amen , I know that's right . Yes , absolutely . I am thankful on today Because this is a day that the Lord has given us , a day we didn't have to see Amen . So before we get into the topical conversation , we are going to do what y'all know we got to do we must and have to pray Amen .
Let's go . Dearly Father , I know I saved you . I say thank you , thank you for your mercy . I beg you forgive me . I say it down the door . I say it forgive us . We also pray now for this . Being the God that you are in our lives , for being our provider , I am that we need Pray in the name of Jesus .
Holy Spirit , just move about us as we go forth into your business . Your word . Pray in the name of Jesus . Any assignment of the enemy that we sent back to where it came from , because if we have power in the name , let us know of the enemy that we sent back to where it came from . Because if we have power in the name , let us know that the enemy .
Thank you right now , in the name of Jesus .
Thank you amen , amen , amen , amen , amen , amen , hallelujah . I hope y'all can hear us well because we are in our new studio in regard to recording . Hallelujah . I hope y'all can hear us well because we are in our new studio in regard to recording , because we just moved in .
If it's any problems , please , somewhere somehow in however you listen , let us know if the sound is good , bad , ugly , good , bad and ugly , amen , hallelujah . We definitely want to encourage you to communicate with us , those of us , those of you , especially those that are faithful and are here listening every single week .
We want to know what you think about the podcast , the quality in regards to sound and appearance , and all of that . We definitely encourage and need your feedback . Yeah , absolutely so , michael . You got any thoughts ?
I would say definitely the feedback , because not only does that let us know that you can hear , see , understand , feel , relate , let us know that you can hear , see , understand , feel , relate . Let us know you're following .
Yeah , absolutely , absolutely . So today's conversation we are going to be talking about when is impact made , really opening the door for the next 14 .
Yep , the next 14 interviews that we give to you all as our audience Diamonds 14 episodes coming up that are speaking to some different things , and focus being when we make impact , because in season three , it was all about reviving , uh , what is dead .
Um , and so in season four , this season , uh , we have already been through let's look at my notes just to make sure I got it right .
We've been through where we can make an impact and we have went through what is , uh , the cause of an impact , and so we've had quite a few guests come on and really speak their story in how , um , how , the what and the where . So now we're going into the win , amen . I hope that that makes sense , michael . What's your thought ?
Before I just kind of guide our conversation into different areas we're going to be touching in the next 14 episodes , Well , my take on the when is when we let God , mm-hmm , is when we let God .
And I say that because if we're doing stuff on our own or trying to do things on our own , how can God really be the impact that we need if we don't allow him ? And I say that because it's a scripture that I like , and it's in Isaiah 61 and 3 .
It says to appoint unto them that morning sign , to give them beauty for ashes , the oil for joyful morning , the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness , that they might be called trees of righteousness , and another Lord that he might be glorified . And you take that scripture and you look at it and you dissect it .
He's basically saying look , if you give me your pain and your sorrows and your hurts and your time when you feel in despair , I can take those things and change it .
So we got to realize that if we don't give it to God , how can he give us the beauty that we need for our ashes and ashes are some of the things we go through that hurts us you know that's so funny because I really thought that you had memorized that and I was thinking to myself what ?
Okay , see , see , see , thank God for technology now , isn't it ?
Yeah , you got to have the laptop .
Amen . But my thoughts in regard to when is impact made ? It becomes really , for for me it's like dissecting , really dissecting what is happening in my life , to kind of examine where I am , because it's a pivotal thing when we learn the lesson . That makes sense .
Often times we go through this , that and the other and we don't learn the lesson , and so if we don't learn the lesson , if you don't learn the lesson , then you gotta keep going through the same lesson before you can go to another lesson . Does that make sense ? It's kind of like , uh , go ahead I was just saying .
When you talk about going through the same old things , the same old things , it's more like a revolving door .
Yeah , if you go to say you go to a fancy corporate building and they got them , or even to a hospital where they got the doors where they self-automated and it spins on its own , you can either go through that door and get off in the first opening .
Well , if you don't get off in the first opening , you go back outside and it's more like a revolving door of the things we go through in life If we don't learn the lesson . Sometimes we have to go through that same thing to get the full understanding of the lesson that God is trying to teach us .
Like just say , for instance okay , I've been to jail before and if I continue to do the same thing and the same crime and the same thing and the outcome is always the same , how am I going to learn the lesson behind it ? Sometimes that lesson that we need , it might happen five , six years down the road or 10 years down the road .
Sometime we get lucky and I'll say lucky loosely Sometime we get lucky that we learn it the first time , right ?
Yeah , I was going to use the apparel . Like you know , you can't go to the next grade until you pass the last grade and the evidence of somebody just you .
You haven't earned that graduation If somebody just pushes you on because , you're good at the sport or whatever , have you Hold on , hold on , I know it , if somebody just pushes you on because you're good at the sport or whatever have you , and he goes hold on , hold on . I know it .
But the evidence of of like literally learning where you were and able to advance to the next level , you know , is really somebody looking at . Okay , uh , they have a ? A average in their um homework , or , and then they have an ? A average in their homework and then they have an ? A average in their tests and their quizzes .
So they've definitely earned the ability to be able to learn on the next level . You know what I mean and I believe that until you get the lesson , learn the lesson , you can't go forward . You know what I mean and this is you know , when you learn the lesson , you can be impactful .
You know what I mean Because you're able to give where you began and then give where you ended before you got to the next place . Does that make sense ? What was you got to the next place ?
does that make sense . What was you gonna say ?
I was gonna say and if and I can use that , that whole terminology of you know , being pushed to the next grade in so many levels , you know , because primarily when you think about that , it's always the school system that's , that's pushing the kids to the next level just to get them out because they don't want to take the time to really sit down and help
the child like they need . So they just go here and push them off to the next grade . Or sometimes , even when you take that next grade into an institution like a prison , they push them just . The world will just push them off to the side because they're getting tired of dealing with them .
But at the same time you got to understand that look , at the end of the day , we're all human . We all make mistakes . The Word of God tells us that we all fall short of the glory of God . So why are you taking these moments that people are going through these trials and tribulations in life and making mistakes and just pushing them off to the side ?
You got to realize that you were once not making the same mistake , but you made a mistake . What would you do if somebody had done that to you , or maybe that's the whole motive behind the situation that somebody has done to you and become customer . That's a cycle that we have to break all right now ?
yeah , absolutely . And how do we break the cycle ? But we share the impact . Yeah , this is really how we break the cycle of what was to what is yeah and um .
The guests that we're gonna have and now we call them diamonds , as we call you diamonds the diamonds that are going to be on the show are one of the first , I would guess I would say are going to deal a lot with trauma , how they got beyond trauma .
Now , when we go into season five , we're going to do a deep dive into trauma and triumphant sea , but here in the next , um , I would say about the next four or five episodes , it's going to be like a brush over , like a , a surface view of how trauma played a significant role in getting beyond where they were to where they are .
And the hope is that you will look at your own trauma , the things that you've experienced yourself , to kind of take their story and be like okay , now I can take my story and see what God was trying to say to me then versus now , amen , what I learned in and out of it . Thoughts , no , no , I was listening . Okay , all right , and then .
So after that , then we're going to deal with .
¶ Impact, Darkness, and Boundaries
We're going to have a couple episodes that really deal with and keeping in mind when we're discussing the when is impact made ? The next couple episodes will be how we use our gifts . Yeah , because sometimes in darkness most of the time in darkness we find the light . Understand what I mean In darkness ?
Well , we find the light Because sometimes we get into a position where we don't have no choice but to find hope in the darkest of situations . You know what I mean . And , um , again , this is when the impact is made in darkness what's your thought ?
now ? I'm just . I'm just my life , my past , that you know that everything is lining up the way we're being taught , you know , especially when we go to church and we really dive into the word and we follow along and it might not make make sense then , but later on it makes sense .
Like you can take one scripture and you can read it , and one moment it might mean this to you , but another moment it might mean that to you . You know , I remember back in on growing up in the scripture I always said that you know , jesus is a , the beacon of light . And if you take that with what you just said , you know a beacon of light .
It doesn't even need to be that bright . Just a , just a glimmer or glimpse of that light in that dark area will draw you to that light . Because when you see a light and you're in a dark place in life and you see a light , the first thing your reaction is , hey , I've got to find what that is , let me go towards that .
And the moment that you go through life and you're in this dark place in life and you see that light , that's letting God know that , hey , you're interested in getting out of where you are Right .
You're being drawn . Wow , the light draws you out of darkness . Yeah , wow , because that's the thing . As a diamond , you've got to know that God doesn't desire for you to stay in the dark , but the darkness is necessary in order for you to get to the light , because you can't appreciate what's good until you've been through the bad .
Let's talk about relationship just for a second . You know you can't appreciate it . I'll just do it from my perspective . I can't . I couldn't appreciate a good man , my husband , until I had a bad one , my former former husband . Okay , do you understand ? You can't appreciate the good that God brings into your life until you experience the bad .
It makes you appreciate the blessings versus having the curse . Come on somebody , that's a word amen , because a lot of people are living in the curse , but there is a blessing outside of the curse .
Or even you can say it like this there's a , there's a blessing even within the curse , but you gotta be willing to go through and come out of the curse in order to be able to attain the blessing . Amen , because look , because , look , we got to know that the things that God allows to come forth in our life is a part of the plan . Amen .
And you know , as much as we like to have all the good and never have any bad , the bad is necessary . Amen For the good . Hallelujah , I say it all the time Something has to die in order to live . We ask God for this and we ask God for that .
We don't even realize that when we're asking him for more and we're asking him to make a way out of no way , something has to die in the process to getting the thing that you're asking God for . Amen . Look , we ask God to be debt-free . Well , you got to have the perseverance to withstand the debt .
You understand that means that you're going to have moments in your finances that you got to deny yourself . You can't just go out there and spend money and buy this and buy that because I wanted and I got the extra . But you're , look what you're asking god for . You're asking him to be debt free .
That means you got to pay the debt so that you can be without debt . Does that make sense , honey ?
that makes sense and you know it's kind of funny because , as you , as you , and this is this is how I know that you sense to you and you know it's .
It's kind of funny because , as you , as you , and this is this is how I know that you know when you , when it makes sense to you , of everything that we're , that we're saying , you know that lets us know that we're , we're having the same language , and that's where it's all about having the same language .
You know , with God , and as you were just speaking , the first scripture that popped in my mind and I don't know if you can see me typing it , but the scripture said much is given , much is required .
That's right , which is Luke 12 , 48 , which says but he that knew not and did not commit things worthy of strikes shall be beaten with few strikes , for unto whomsoever much is given , of him shall be much required , and to whom men have committed much of him . They were asked to more . That's what he's saying .
He's saying look , if you want this , you have to ask for it . It's freely given , but you got to show that you want it . Why would I ? Okay , and I'm going to say this , and if I step on your toes . I'm sorry , whoever's listening . If you want something , and or if it's a paycheck , what do you have to do ?
You have to work for it , but this one thing God gives us freely . All you have to say I want it okay you don't have to work hard for it . All you gotta do is say I want it . Or , as they say in a marriage , I do . That lets us know that this is what I want .
But this is a key , though Many times we want something , but the first thing we do we get all mad at God for us not getting it . But we got to realize this that some things that we want do we really need it , because sometimes we can get things and want things and want things and don't get things , but the first thing we do is get mad at god .
Well , we got a thing like this . Is that thing that I'm asking god for really going to hurt me , or do I really need it in that moment ? Yeah , sometimes we , we we ask for things just to keep up with their Joneses or get things just to say that I have it . Yeah .
I want a motorcycle .
But do I really need a motorcycle ? Or I want a sports car ? Is that sports car going to kill me it ? Do I have an issue or problem with my foot or having a heavy foot ? Alright , man , we got to realize and that's another scripture too , when it comes to the Luke 448 much is given , much is required .
We also got to factor in that scripture said that you ask in a miss , you don't really need it , you just want it all right now y'all gotta understand . I'm having a michael moment right now . I'm having a moment with god because you know that was me . I will say I want this but I really don't need it .
I just want to want it because I want to say I accomplished it . I'm having a moment , y'all excuse me , amen .
I mean , have your moment , honey , have your moment . So because , again , y'all , we just trying to give you a highlight of kind of what's happening , because you won't hear from us directly . You're going to hear a bunch of interviews , so we just want to make sure that everybody's clear on what is happening .
The next , the so we're going to be talking have a few about how we use our gifts , how we maximize the kingdom and how we do you know , how we use what God has given us to go forth . And then the importance of boundaries . When we set boundaries I mean this is talking about when I mean boundaries are important .
You know people oftentimes don't like boundaries that you set , but you have to set boundaries for yourself because , at the end of the day , in setting boundaries , you are setting up your mind .
Amen , it's very , very important to your growth that you draw a line to where people are able to access you , because if you don't , then you won't have any type of control in regard to you . You understand what I'm saying . You can give yourself to everybody to where yourself becomes neglected . Yeah , and I am .
I'm one of those ones who neglected herself because I thought I was supposed to serve , serve , serve , serve , serve . Well , yeah , you are supposed to serve and serve and serve , serve , but you also have to serve , serve , serve , serve , serve . Well , yeah , you are supposed to serve and serve and serve , serve , but you also have to serve yourself .
Yeah , and in order to serve yourself , one of the things you have to do is what Set boundaries ? Set boundaries for yourself . What's your thought on that ?
Oh boy , I'm going to tell you , you definitely have to set boundaries , because if you don't set boundaries or I use a different word which still means the same standards Because if you don't set boundaries or standards , because if you don't set boundaries or standards , you allow people to take advantage of that's right .
If you need to go somewhere and you don't set standards or boundaries , of saying , okay , I can only do it from between this time and that time , you'll wind up neglecting people around you as well as yourself .
And I say neglecting people around you because some people will I'm trying to word my phrase because I get the point across They'll wind up running you thin , and that's T-H-I-N . Thin Because you can have a lot of love to share . But if you don't spread yourself out evenly and that evenly is involved with you , that being , we all need our moment .
We all need need our moment to gather our thoughts , but we're so focused on helping other people and we get neglected by spending more time with them instead of ourselves You'll wind up hurting yourself .
Emotionally , physically , spiritually . That's a rundown of what's coming to you , to all of us .
Y'all , bear with us as we are on this podcasting journey and just really just trying to see what it is that god would have us to do , because we don't want to just do just do you know , do it the way that the world , that we want to be intentional about how we do it , and so , uh , we don't know where it's going , but we're asking God where to take it
let's put it that way and so we want to ask y'all to pray for us , as we continually pray for you and bring you episode by episode . We want to again be intentional and , you know , for those of you that listen all the time and you know , as our audience grows , let us know what you want to hear .
Amen , with some things that you're struggling with that you might need some help with , because this is what we're here for . We want to help you to see the diamond in you , just as God has showed us the diamond within us , and so we are done for the day .
And Michael , what's your closing thoughts ? You know , my closing thought is primarily what you just said . You know about . You know , if there's something that our diamonds are going through or struggling with , something they wanted more information about , you know , it's primarily one scripture that says that iron sharpens iron . We sharpen each other .
And one thing I like about the iron that sharpens iron is it's very personal . It's very personal with your life and your growth with Christ , because if you don't reach out , how can we somebody know ?
I think that's very vital that we communicate with our brothers and sisters in Christ , because we really don't know what somebody's going through unless they share it .
My final thought for my sister and my brother God has made you , he's created you in his light or in his image and after his likeness , and so , just because you've been created , you have an impact to make in this life , and you know , as your sister in Christ , I just encourage you to follow him .
Let him lead you , because he did not make you by accident , he made you on purpose for , and so go forth . Go forth with whatever it is that he's leading you and guiding you to do . Uh , there it look . It's nothing too small or too big , too big for god to use to make an impact . You know what I mean .
It may you know you could smile at somebody making an impact in the kingdom , hallelujah . And so , therefore , just do what the lord has called you to do . Amen , let's pray , father . We thank you so much for your grace and your mercy .
Thank you , god , for just allowing us to be able to , uh , be a voice for you , and I pray , for every diamond that is here , that you would bless them as you see fit . Bless those they are praying for and lifting up and interceding on the behalf of God .
We just thank you so much for this platform and we pray , lord , that we can continue to use it to your glory . Continue to use us to your glory . We thank you , we love you and we bless your name . We bless your people In . We thank you , we love you , we bless your name . We bless your people In Jesus Christ's name . We do pray , amen . Amen .
