#104 S4 EP 24: From Distraction to Devotion: Dallian Candland's Insights on Faith and Focus

As you speak to us , we pray in the name of Jesus that your Holy Spirit would just have its way . We counsel any assignment of the enemy that would be sent back into the pits of hell where it came from , for your word says it has no power , but you have given us the power . We pray in the name of Jesus that your Holy Spirit would just have its way .

We ask you just to touch us from the crown of our heads to the soles of our feet . We pray in the name of Jesus that you would touch every equipment that we use , every equipment that is being used to be heard . We pray in the name of Jesus . Your Holy Spirit just have its way . These things and all things we ask in Jesus' mighty and master's name name .

We say thank you and we say amen , amen and amen .

We are so excited to have him here . I mean , I'm telling you what , if y'all knew the story before he got here ? I'll tell you this fear tried to have its way , fear tried to have its way . Fear tried to have its way , and the Bible says God lets us know I did not give you a spirit of fear . Amen , he did not give you a spirit of fear .

And so today , the conversation is about what can happen when you're gripped by it . And so , daylon , will you say hello to everyone and tell us a little bit about who you are ?

It says in Acts 17 , like how God feels after us and how we'll feel after him , we'll know we're not far from him , and so I've had these times in my life where I have felt not very close to him and I felt him reaching out to me through different experiences , whether it was video games or basketball or homework .

You know it sounds crazy , but that's how he works . He works in the things that we like , and I came out with this book to help people .

It's called god is trying to talk to you , or talk to me and just share some of my struggles through one of the deepest pains of my life how I knew god was putting people in my life and how he's making these things happen . And and it wasn't like this , like woohoo , yeah , it's like we're getting better .

All the time it was like , it's like it was like this , so that that's , that's how goes . It's like it goes like wait a second .

I had this really cool moment and it's like oh well , we're down , we're really down and it's like okay , now we're up again and yeah , so that book came out and I there's no doubt I felt tons of opposition to getting that out , and I feel even more opposition with getting the second one out . So beautiful , right .

But I'm like I'm excited and I've been trying to fight for it . I went to school for marketing at BYU-Idaho and just have been trying to get a job and have been able to just have some jobs to kind of prep me for my calling . But it was never like anything long term , it was just a temporary thing .

And now what he's told me is to go all in with the book and everybody that's touched it has said like okay , this is something , and just kind of letting him guide me .

You just got to know that if he started it , he will absolutely finish it . Michael , you have any thoughts to that ?

You know , we say that we have a very short attention span , but if you think about it , if we take things that we really like to do whether it's TV shows or things that we eat or a movie don't we sit there until the whole thing is done ? It doesn't matter if we got to go to the bathroom . We pause the movie , go to the bathroom and come right back .

So how can we sit there and say that we only have a short attention span ? It's funny , it really is funny , because we sit there and we watch TV or watch the movie we're watching . It doesn't matter if we got to go to the bathroom . We sitting there close , pointing our eyes straight on it .

Somebody could be talking to us , but our eyes never leave the TV . But we got nerds that we got a short extension span and I'm guilty of that , I know .

You're looking at them like talk about , he just had that moment yeah that's all right , amen . It's okay , um you have any more comments ? No , I'm good , I'm good dayla , you have any comments that what has been said anything's been ?

And I wrote this poem a while ago and it's not it's not available anywhere , I don't think but it just talked about how the it's kind of me talking about it's just me forgiving myself for things . And I just said , like the battles , there's battles that you've chosen to keep cold , but they can all be warmed as you choose .

To be bold , right , there's a like there's a it could be cold right now but it can warm up really quickly . And that's the case with a lot of things in my life I've found , I think , a lot of it . The struggle is they have to be able to understand what needs to be cold and what needs to be warm .

And I think there's times people are like , hey , you need to work on this and you work on this .

Like , well , god is telling me to not worry about that and he's telling me to work on this other thing , so I'm gonna work on that and I'm not gonna work on what you tell me to work on because I've tried working on things that he did not want me to work on did not lead to good , did not lead to to , uh , beauty and peace and all those fruits of the

spirit . It led to the opposite . It led to getting led in darker paths , it led to stress , it led to pain , it led to . It led to the book beater right , right , right . So it all worked out , but you know , it's uh , it's , it's beautiful , but yeah , just trusting in him .

And this is the thing about the poetry you have a section where you are speaking to God and then you have a section where God is speaking to you . And really speaking to the first one where you're speaking to God , the one that really caught my attention was there Are Angels Everywhere . That you wrote in August of 2022 .

Can you tell us a little bit about that particular poem and how it relates to the topic of fear ?

So that poem was written one of the ones written during that blitz , if you will but it talks to a time in August 2022 , yeah where I had some potential job , things fall through and I was living with my well , I was just living with a couple of friends , just really didn't have much money , and , yeah , I met this guy at a Walmart and then , a month later ,

that guy is giving me rides to places and at one point , he dropped off a ton of groceries at my house , and so he was definitely an angel . And so , yeah , that poem just talks about how , right before a soul is closest to surrendering , you will put somebody in the picture to help out with that , and that kind of happened a little bit this morning .

I ran into this guy I've I've talked with before at this track . I run on that and just felt like I should go talk to him again . He's excited to see me and we just had a good chat and it was cool because when I first talked with him it felt like I should go talk to him again . He was excited to see me and we just had a good chat .

And it was cool because when I first talked with him it felt like maybe I was reaching out to him kind of . But then today it was like I just definitely felt the strength from him .

And so , yeah , I've seen that very many times that God will put somebody in the picture to help you out and give you that strength or that encouragement you need to keep going .

You might think , well , I got through with it , so why can't they ? Well , we got to realize that we're not on the same level . Our relationship with God is not on the same level with somebody else . And we got to understand that God puts us in orders in a particular way that strengthens others .

But if we take every strength that we have and hold it to ourself , how can we bring them to the level that we are at ?

You have a thought to that , sir Daylon ? Do you have a thought to that ? Sir Daylon , do you have a thought to that ?

too .

If you are willing , then you must be obedient , and only after obedience comes , you eating the good of the land . That's Isaiah 11 , verse 19 . Yeah , but if you rebel and you try to do it your own way I mean if you refuse to do it God's way then comes rebellion . And when rebellion comes , the Bible says you'll be devoured by the sword .

And you know , in regard to fear , it's like it's one of those things where if you are afraid and you ask God for a solution and he gives you a solution and you don't do whatever he tells you to do , then whatever was attacking you or whatever you were afraid was going to happen , it's going to happen because you are not obedient . Does that make sense ?

Either one of y'all have a comment to that ?

So you know , I've just seen that it's like if god is leading you in a direction , he's trying to tell you something and you try to do the other thing , it's like that that is not gonna be to your benefit , like you're gonna get to the other side and be like uh , uh .

It's kind of like when it's like I sort of think of it because something that's it can be uncomfortable and it's usually uncomfortable and god reaches out to you to do something . But I like to think of it as like you're maybe like a friend or a family member drives by . It's like , hey , I want to take you to Chick-fil-A or something like that .

It's like you'd get in the car and go to Chick-fil-A if it was like your family member or something .

And if you don't , then you're going to miss out on Chick-fil-A , you're not going to be hanging with them , and that's kind of how I look at it , because I've had those times where I go and I reach out to somebody and maybe they don't want to see me , but I feel that God's kind of giving me encouragement and saying , hey , good job on talking to that person

, even though they didn't want to talk to you , because that happens too .

I think it was like a battle strategy , like a way to give me clarity and focus , because I have ADHD and that's another giant part of my story , and so the poetry helps me to dial in on these thoughts and these focuses and remind me how I ought to act in certain situations , like if I am feeling very down in the dumps or I'm about to surrender , of a

sort , then the angels are everywhere . I mean that goes along very well with that line of thoughts , and so I do see these poems being able to be used by other people to empower them , and so it is therapy .

But I do think of it also as creating new soldiers or whatever to help spread God's kingdom , and not only that , but just to fight for clarity and fight for love and fight for peace .

And so if you let , if you allow yourself to be open to him and be vulnerable to him , he knows what's therapeutic for you . He knows what's going to bring you into a state of mind that says peace in a in a state of mind that speaks to what excites you , what brings you joy .

He created you , he created you to look like him , he created you to be in divine relationship with him . And so you know he knows what you need . And , at the end of the day , how do we fight against the grips of fear ? We move in faith . That's how we fight against it . We move in faith . And look , he says what Faith without works is what Dead .

So if you have faith , then your faith is going to require you to do something . You know what I mean . You can't just keep talking about it , talking about it , talking about it . You know what I mean . A lot of us don't fit the plan . A lot of us don't fit the plan that God have on our life .

Because we're looking in the mirror and we say , well , I don't look right , well , I don't got enough money , I don't know the right language , it ain't this and it ain't that . And then we get afraid and we just don't do nothing . But then we sit in church every single Sunday and say I got faith .

And we praising the Lord and hallelujah shouting and running up and down the aisles and doing this , doing that , but I ain't doing nothing'm just making a whole lot of noise . Y'all better talk about it . Come on somebody .

We have to not practice how to do it , but do it from the heart . Practice how to do it but do it from the heart and see with that . We got to understand that God gives us a choice whether we're going to serve him or not .

And two scriptures I want to point out is the scripture says I think it's in 1 Corinthians 13 , if there be any praise , if there be any virtue , think on these things . He said if If is a big word . And the second scripture is in Colossians , in 2 Chronicles 7 , 14 .

If my people , which are called by my name , shall humble themselves , seek my face , turn from the wicked ways , then I will hear from heaven and heal that land . He said again . If hear from heaven and heal that land .

He said again if he gives us a choice , whether we turn from our wicked ways , seek him , chase after him and he says if there be any praise , if you praise me for the things that I do . And we got to understand . We got to stop praising God only when he brings us through stuff . We have to praise him when it looks good .

When it don't look good , when we don't know where we're going to go , how we don't know when we're going to get our next meal , how we're going to get our money for our bills . He said praise him in season and out of season . We praise God just for things that we get . How about praising him for things that you don't get ?

Because the things that you don't get might be the very thing God is keeping you from killing you .

It's like this would give me financial security , this would make it so I can move out of my silly parents house . Well , my parents , my parents , are great . It's the basement .

That's silly , but it sounds kind of weird Because it's like this is where I was at three years ago too , except in college , and so it's easy to , you know , be very hard on myself and be like , okay , like what is actually improved , like and you can , you can really be so hard on myself .

But it's like it's all about the spiritual journey and I feel like God has been doing wonders with my spirit and the book is a good example of that .

Like to have so much focus and clarity and put out these 50 poems and put them out in a book and everything like that was a extreme accomplishment and it just says a lot of where it can lead in the future . So I really believe that it's uh . It's kind of like sometimes things take a while before they really start growing , before they really start going .

He's had very many doors shut right in front of my face . I've just watched it walk away . I've been like what in the heck ? He's like I got something better planned . I'm like all right , fine , now I'm just trusting him at his word and that's it .

That's it , because he knows what my spirit needs and what will be the best for me and will help me meet all the people I need to meet and everything like that . He knows all those conversations before they happen . He knows all those beautiful moments before they even come to somebody else's mind .

You know he knows all that stuff and he wants that stuff for me , amen .

I'm going to start that over for y'all , okay . It says my son , do not fear , I always have inclined to you my ear . It picks up all the things you say , the moments you fell apart so easy to replay . But , daylon , my son , I'm looking at what's ahead and all the beautiful things that you have said . You've lifted so many , shared my love like crazy .

You've really been working . You're really . You've really been working daily . I do not think you're lazy . It's okay to shed a tear , but rest assured , you have nothing to fear . Powerful . I love it . Awesome . What do you have to say to that , michael ?

And to hear that I mean I'm going to tell you I am beyond speechless . And I say that because you know that makes me reflect back on all the times that not knowingly and knowingly gave up on myself . And I would tell you , daylon and all the diamonds listening don't give up on yourself .

You know , people might lighten what it means to them , but he gave it to you and because he gave it to you , you carry it where he says take it , jesus , come on . I just hope that that encourages you and it encourages any diamond that's doing anything .

People going to talk about what you're doing , they going to tell you what they think you ought to do and what you shouldn't do . But at the end of the day , whose voice are you listening to ? Because if it's not God's voice , then it's a whole bunch of noise . You know who you're trusting in , so I just say listen to it . Daylon , you be encouraged .

I believe that God brought you here for us to encourage you to keep on pressing forward . Despite what they might say , despite what you don't have , despite what it might look like , you keep on pressing forward and you keep on moving in your faith .

Hallelujah , because you know when you're doing something and people around you ain't never did it before they might look at you kind of crooked , but you got to keep on pressing forward . Anyhow . God is trying to talk to me , god is trying to talk to you , and the key word in that phrase is trying Are you listening ? That becomes a question Are you listening ?

And I believe that this is what , uh , what this really is this , this book of poems , is really speaking to anybody who's listening is that God is just trying to say something to you . Now the question is are you listening to it ?

And again , I love how you have this conversation where you're talking to him and he's talking to you , meaning that , yeah , you're talking to him , you're praying , you're crying , you're this , that and the other , but you're talking to him , you're praying , you're crying , you're this , that and the other , but you're also listening .

And I believe that is what's missed , not only in conversation with God , but in conversation with people . We are talking so much that we're not listening to what's being said .

If we just slow down , just slow down a minute and listen just as much as we're talking , I believe that we can get a whole lot more accomplished in the body and for Christ , y'all give y'all's final words .

Um and well , michael going to give his final word , but Daylon , we want to before you do that , uh , share where we can get your book and you know how you know . Whatever you want to share the spirit , whatever spirit tell you to give , amen yeah , yeah , yeah , there's a poem I wanted to share .

So this book this poem is from July 6 , 2022 is after I ripped my foot open and e-bike accident and I wrote this poem about that experience . I got to be a youth counselor in a wheelchair for a little bit after that and so , even though I had ripped my foot up you up , I was still able to help out and serve .

So that's what this is about Father being a For Strength of Youth counselor in a wheelchair . It's humbling . It's really humbling . The youth pushed me around . Talking with them has helped me see the truth that I am precious to you . Healed or in pain , you can use me . Whether I'm in a desert or pouring rain , you just use me .

Whether I'm in a desert or pouring rain , you just want me . I am starting to see I am still precious to you . I am still precious to you and there's nothing about that I could ever undo . Thank you . So that's that poem . The book is out on Amazon . God is trying to talk to me . Hallelujah . Indeed , god is trying to talk to me .

It's on Amazon Kindle for now , and I'm going to get in paperback and Audible in the next couple months and just kind of let it go , you know , and I'm excited to see where it takes me .

When he clearly tells us that he intentionally made the young strong to steal , to put the enemy on notice , to put them on notice , he intentionally made the young strong , and it's so sad because the church is trying to kind of push the youth to the side , like they don't have a voice , they ain't doing nothing .

They this , that and the other , but they have a whole lot to say . Again , we just listen . They can do some mighty things in the kingdom while they're young , hallelujah . So that is my final word Just listen , listen , listen , listen and you won't get caught up in the grip of fear . Amen , michael , what's your ? final word , and then we're going to pray .

He tells us in his word and I decree and I declare this scripture right now over you , dalen , and all the diamonds . He said his word in my mansion . In my kingdom are many mansions . He also said that he will make us rulers over many nations . Those scriptures are about to come to pass .

But if you give up too early and too quick , how can you receive it ? Don't forsake small beginnings . You might be right now staying with your parents or somewhere that you don't want to be , but continue to do it and go through it with a grateful heart . God sees it . God will reward you . Don't give up .

Like this is a world without friction , where you literally can't stop once you get going , and the only way you could stop is if you literally ran right into somebody or you ran right into a wall . You can't get anywhere and you can't get stuck up . God's word will stop you and it will put you in the right direction .

You will literally run into it and it'll be like hey , I love you , I'm gonna push you in this direction because I'm going to help you out . We live in a world where sometimes it seems like there's no friction , like there's no way you can stop . If you're falling down the wrong path or something like that , god will put somebody in your path .

It'll be an angel , some scripture you can pray . He'll get you on that path again . If you think you've fallen off like , you can always come back around , and so that that was just put on my heart right now . So I was like that magic school bus episode . It taught me a lot .

It's like it's good that we have this way to stop and that Jesus can hold us in that moment and be like , hey , like I know what you're trying to do and I love you and and I'm gonna help you take all this and use this for my glory .

You know , I can have all these feelings and such , but then you can turn it into a poem and it can like reach out to somebody and it can be for god's word , it can be for his glory and kingdom , and so it can be extremely useful .

So that's something I'd say is like , if you feel like you're losing track back or your traction , he knows exactly how to help you feel of his love in this moment and to point you in that right direction . Direction is way more important than speed .

If speed was the more important thing then , yeah , we'd live in a different world , but direction is way more important . If you're going in the right direction , you're going extremely slowly . Hey , you're going to go way , way farther than anybody who's like going like this really fast , go way farther . Those people will always be here , they'll always be there .

But if you're going like really slow in this steady , steady , steady incline and let the Lord take you and lift you up . Then you're going to be in a good spot . And so you up , then you're going to be in a good spot .

Father , we bless your name , we bless your people , god , and we pray that you'll continue to do more work in our lives that only you can . Thank you , father , and we praise you holy in your matchless and righteous name . We pray this prayer in Jesus Christ's name . We do pray , amen , amen and amen , hallelujah . Thank you again , daylon , for being here .

I did feel very uh , you know I felt there's definitely opposition to making this recording happen , but you know , you give yourself chances to grow your spirit , like I went on a run today with my brother and or just by myself , but my brother , we went to this place and I I did a good run there and that helped strengthen my spirit .

And that is the kind of stuff that'll help you overcome temptation and help you to be strong , cause we need to be strong . God doesn't want us to be wishy-washy . You know it says in revelation like I would rather that you were cold or hot , because you're lukewarm , I'll spit you out of my mouth , like I want you to be all in or all out , you know .

So it's like with temptation or something . It's

like I'm all out . There's no like oh , maybe I'll just like say something , just to kind of say I'm not , I'm not , not interested , but I also kind of want to see what's going to happen . It's like no , he doesn't want any of that and he wants to be all . We're all out . It's like with with him , like trying to reach out to us .

It's like I'm all in , I'm all right here . There's no like I was going to say my word .
