Episode description

Jesus told us “judge not,” right? It sounds simple enough, but what does everyone get wrong about that little two-word phrase? Why does Jesus’ command about judging come at just the right time? And how did Jesus apply his principles about judging to the woman caught in adultery? You’ll find out today on the Cross References podcast.

NOTE: This was originally going to be a super-sized episode lasting about hour. However, once I got about 1/3 through my notes, I realized that I was going to need more time than I actually wanted to spend on one episode. Therefore, I cut my lesson off and will give the other half of it next week. So this episode ended up being closer to our regular length. Please keep that in mind as you listen to the episode; part 2 is coming next week in Episode 7. Some of my comments that I make in the introduction (about how judging relates to church discipline and personal conflicts) will actually be addressed in part 2.

6:45 - Matthew 7:1-5

15:40 - questions to ask yourself before judging

22:25 - think categorically

27:55 - John 8 (the woman caught in adultery)

40:10 - today’s recap
