FIFA and Qatar block LGBT+ protest;  Netherlands, England, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Switzerland and Wales walk away from One Love armbands . 


LGBT+ is an initialism that stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender plus. In use since the 1990s, the initialism, as well as some of its common variants, functions as an umbrella term for sexuality and gender identity. 


 

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to be the 22nd running of the FIFA World Cup competition, the quadrennial international men's football championship contested by the senior national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It is scheduled to take place in Qatar.
