Hi there. It's Sue. And thanks for joining me for tips and talk day. These are bite-sized topics that I pull from community questions and things that I'm observing in the world of handmade small business. If you'd like to submit a topic, DME over on Instagram at gift biz, unwrapped, think about your messy catch all drawer. You know, the one, anything, you know, you should keep, but don't have a specific place for goes in there. Mine is in the kitchen.
I recently pulled everything out and reorganized, no joke. I had nine pairs of scissors for tape dispensers and three lighters for my candles. Of course, multiples of all these things surprised me because when I went looking for them, I couldn't find a single one, a case of having what I really need, but not easily at hand because they're buried under all the mess. You know, what else was in that drawer? A key, but a key to what?
Usually I have an identifier of some sor like it's in a plastic bag with a note or the key has some type of a label on it or something, but not this one. Maybe it was one of my neighbors that I have in case of emergencies. It wasn't a car key that I could easily determine.
So now what do I do if I knew what the key went with, it would be really valuable, but holding it in its current state, without knowing where it goes into useless, that struck me as such a powerful thing in my hand was a single key that with one important piece of information could easily open the right door box or treasure, chest simple done in seconds. And without another thought, because access with the key is effortless.
But if you reach a door and don't have the key, you're stuck and can go no further, or you have to waste a lot of time looking for the key, calling a locksmith, or maybe even breaking down the door. Something that usually requires very little thought turns into a big chore, all because of one little key. This is what happens in business too.
I see women every day working so hard trying to open doors without having the right key and then getting discouraged because sales aren't coming in and they can't understand why they're missing the keys. That's why to me, it's heartbreaking scenes so much energy and excitement turn into self doubt and defeat. When this happens, that's actually what led me to start gift biz unwrapped. In the first place. I didn't go into my own business with the idea that it would evolve into this.
But when I talk with women at trade shows for the ribbon print company, even today, it comes up over and over again, either I hear, I want to start a business, but I don't know how or my business isn't making the kind of money that I thought it would. And I'm not sure how to fix it. Conversations like this light me up. It allows me to pull from my experience from my corporate days when I used to deal with huge brands, as well as small boutique businesses.
And it gives me the opportunity to share what's working for my product businesses. Also since one-on-one can happen only on a small scale, I decided to create a program that I can share to help women on a much larger level. That what maker's MBA is all about. You might have heard me reference this before. Don't let the name scare you. MBA sounded very professional and serious. I know.
And indeed the program includes top quality business information necessary for starting and growing a profitable product business, but you don't need prior business training or a special undergraduate degree to join and see results from this very special program. If the idea of starting your business by selling your handmade products has been on your mind for a while. Now, this is a great time for you to take action.

And once you're in, you have access forever, including all updates and enhancements to the trainings, it doesn't provide just one missing key. It's an entire chain of keys that you need to open all the doors at every stage. As your business opens, grows and adjust to current times this year, I'm doing things completely different in terms of the offering of the program, the contents all the same, but the timing, the pricing and the rollout are all different and it's fast.
