Hey everyone, it's two day January the twenty four, twenty twelve, and you were listening to the Giant Bomb cast on Ryan Davis. Let's take it around the table here, should we? Tannon on weather, Patrick Cleatic on sports, go Chicago Chicago. Already you took off your Chicago shirts. That's my biking shirt, and after came in rocking a real hard hard a mid nineties three. Yeah, it was some good Chicago Bulls shirts. It's the three stores or four Chicago Bulls shirts. Jeff Gershman is here. I am
as our psychic experts. Yes, hang on, you're thinking about wine weird. That's actually accurate. And Brad Shoemaker for color, Oh man, I wanted to be weather. I want to be No, we don't do weather in here, damn it. It's hot and muggy. And how about that for weather, it's uncomfortable. Already warmfront coming in one minute in. I hope warmfront coming in doesn't mean what I think it means in this room. Thank you for smelling it out though. What you what were you guys talking
about? No chewy front? Oh? Did just finish that egg sandwich? Real warm? Are you still doing introductions? No, I'm done. Okay, how's it going to Vinnie Let's stomach? Sometimes good? Well, apparently brad he knew it was coming. Floods are coming, mud slots come in, let's get lord watch. What are you guys talking about? What are you talking about weather? I thought we were talking about wine taste? What South Africa suing Weatherman for for being inaccurate? It was in South Africa?
Did you guys hear about this? Did you guys hear about this in the news? What's the deal with the weather? And they're like, we want all the krugerrands. I don't know what you tell me jay Leno about this? So yeah, I think I don't have a joke my Jayno, was just just no, I've been smacking and whining. My apologies to both with Jay Leno and comparisons neither come out good, and that's that they're not. There's not even necessarily an accurate impression of either. No, No, they're
really not, not even like in spirit. Nope, noviny hi Ryan, Oh, it's fun to laugh. It's nice to be able a dark kind of you doing all right? Fantastic? Yeah? What's going on with you? Uh? What's going on with me. You were just we had to we had to drag you into this room because you're busy making cables, making cables every moore, making your own. Put the red light on. We're
still talking about your beer end. You're making cables, laying so many thicks, fiber optics like down Bridge cable, just thick and coily braided spanning. I've seen that before, Uh, Saints Row DLC the gank you bowl seven, call it what you will, so call it that, call it what it's called. I finished that this weekend. It took him maybe the whole weekend, really, the span between turning it on and then figuring out I wanted to play sky Rim to finish it because it's fast. That must have
been quick, because I saw you right Saturday morning jumping on. Yeah, maybe ten thirty to eleven thirty Saturday morning, that time it usually takes to patch your p S three finished the DLC. Uh, it was fast and kind of born. Yeah, Jeff, you just wrapped it up too. Yes, yeah, yesterday I started and finished the DLC as well. Yes, it's eight activities missions. It's like eight side missions, but two of
them two of each. So the three of them. Three of the four activities in the game are just things from the main game, like I'm still changed up a little bit, but the activity it's basically and then the one
one sucks. It's the Gyanku the fun house thing where you shoot everybody, drive in the car like the tiger thing, keep Yankee Escort mission, the destruction Mayhem stuff, and then you do with the Take Mayhem but with a Yarnallmari style kind of and then the one that it's kind of making a debut is like flying around and like a panda suit kind of going through rings,
but it's it's not so much flying controlled falling. Yeah, there's a set of rings that you have to fly through, but you kind of your altitude keeps going down, but you have a bit bigger glide like hag gliding almost. It's sort of like hang gliding, okay, And then you have to land on rooftops and kill a bunch of mascots and then launch yourself, have a canon that's on the rooftop to get back into the air and keep gliding land on the platform. Uh. These a lot a lot of just kind
of repurposed like mission structure stuff. Yeah, but but none of it is very engaging. It's stuff that it was. If it was in the main game already, it would have fleshed out of the gyanky stuff to where it would have made sense that it was there at all, because I felt that was kind of a weird inclusion. Yeah, that felt sort of out of
nowhere in the main game. It was weird because you got the sense that they made like really significant, like asset investments into the whole ganky thing, right, like with the vehicles and like bonus weapons and gear for your dude. But it just it was just a side activity that was not great.
I guess it's kind of also true a lot like the Night Blades stuff, like they invest pretty heavily in that, and it's kind of just a weird, a weird, little kind of stop in the I mean, they do do a lot of one off stuff like that, but the gyanky stuff just felt like they had created this reality show and this you know, part of the world and fleshed it out to a weird degree, and then it was
this one type of side activity that you never really heard about. Yeah, so this is this is stuff that feels like it probably you should have been in the main game, or probably was at one point planned for the main game, or they never really contextualize it too much in that right, and they didn't really hear, which it was just still a shame because that is the most one add in Saints where I was doing the crazy things in context
of something else that's bananas or dialogue or set up for something that's like, okay, you do this, and then there's a crazy payoff because the dialogue is so smartly written, and this is just kind of through these side missions and then you win, and then the best part of the DLC is like the very end, yeah, and then you're like, okay, yeah, there a couple of funny lines in the opening in the clothes, which is where they kind of put any dialogue at all, and this you still see
kind of sparks of the genius that made Saints Row the Third a fantastic game, but it's it's in like, you know, them using the music cues correctly and then using smart dialogue, but then like once the rubber hits the road and they're like okay, now play, you're like, you didn't give me enough to go on. You didn't build this up enough? Was it more fun now that you've you've like totally matched out your dudes that you just kind of lay waste everyone, or it was fun for me and the fact
that I can get through it quickly. Yeah, none of those activities were things that I would want to spend any real time on. And the Yeah, it's they made some stuff like slightly more difficult than I think some of the stuff in the main game was, but it doesn't mean it's hard. I had some trouble doing the skydiving thing because all the controls are like, yeah, the controls are kind of bad, and and trying to figure out what the hell you're even supposed to do the first couple of times is weird.
But once I got the hang up how the controls work, just knocked out those two missions and it was like, great, never gonna do that again, Right, you don't have to. Yeah, the escort stuff I never really enjoyed in that particular. I didn't really enjoy it because sometimes you just get hung up on stuff like I'm caught in this on this telephone pole or something like that. Destruction stuff was really easy. You just rolled around, yeah, and stuff breaks, But then you get a couple of cool
or at least interesting rewards. You do get the giant ball of yarn as a reward. Just call yarn. You just call it's a home and no, no, no, it's not a home. It's it's but which is fun because you call it like run on top of it or you're just you hit the get in vehicle button and you just disappear. But it is fun seeing the giant ball of yarn come around a corner to stop in front of you, and then a guy appears and he's getting out of it to leave
it for you. He's dressed up like a spaceman. Came stupid, you got a panic. You're describing just some of my favorite scenes from Staves for the third that I've never seen. It's like, yeah, that's you know, it's it's jankie, but like, but that's funny. So it's like exploding carts and you get some more homies, which I don't really use the homies that much, ye like, but it's just that also just populates the
world weirdly, the homies. Yeah, with different people. I mean, I mean just just by choosing the different kinds of homies, like you'll just know it's not like gang outfit stuff. It's specific people. You can call it tet I thought just more like mascots call up Sad Panda saying to Panda, sad Panda, roll with you? Or angry Tiger what at you?
Yeah? Just ladies and tiger ladies? Is the stuff just scattered around the world, You don't like feel like launch it from the Yeah, I mean there are there's missions, but there's their start points for all the activities, and some of them are given to you as part of like a mission, like a quest line or less. Do you think just more rapper would have helped this? Yeah, more rappers like Little John would have been. Was
he not in this game already? He probably wrote most of it. Julio Kulio, he's actually Sad Panda, Kulio and Kelly deal hanging out a lot. So Yeah, if there were more, So Coulio is doing time, I would have liked. Not I would have liked stuff with that to explore there's anything libeless about I don't know. I want to clear the air about Leo. Coulio is not as far as I know, Okay, in jail
at this at this moment, we can either confirm nor deny. Yeah, as of this recording, I don't think his cooking show is still on the air. But Cooking with Coulio, he was on that. He was on that Rachel Ray and uh, what's his name? That asshole with the bleached hair, guy Fieri. He was on that show, on that celebrity cooking show. Great, so he's doing that. He's around cooking. I did not see him. Fantastic Voyage of Cooking. That's pretty good here. He's
just have a sailing show called Fantastic Cooks on his boat. Fantastic fantastic, Yes, food tastic. Wow, I'm thinking too, fans. Sandwich Voyage, go ahead your turn, Fantastic Porridge. I almost got a spit take out alright. So it sounds like it sounds like that DLC might be more valuable if you haven't played through the game yet. Yeah, I think it was just right. If you were integrating into the main game and kind of playing it at your own pace along with the rest of the stuff, that
would probably be better. But just bang through it as the last eight things that are available for you to do on the map sucks. Yeah, I would have liked it for it to be a little some of the because I got excited once you got past the first one and you realize it's not just going to be all the stuff in the fun House. Yeah, and I thought it was going to turn into like, oh, let's have this personal relationship with the Ganky. This weird like let's dive into that and like what
he's doing in Saints Row and like around the game show. So you're doing these missions that are just like, you know, he wants to go do this other thing that's related to the game show because you're escorting him in the seconds like a bit of a revelation like just that Professor Ganky is an actual
dude. Yeah right, So I wanted some more of that, like in a room the cutsne in a room with him like sitting there, yeah, you know, takes his mask off, we only see the back of his head and then finally turns around, and you know it's mission does at least like give some sort of context to just like you know, Professor Gank hates
his overbearing fans but loves murder. He's pleased by murder. So the missing missions just end with like genkis please, you know, So I think they do right by Professor ganks in some weird way, but the activities are rehashed from the main game. They're they're not engaging. The one new thing they developed is not good and it's over in like an hour, so it's it's just not a I don't think people should buy this content if they already bought
the season pass. Yeah, hey, you're not much if you fully the next ones are better how much? I don't separately know. It's like seven
bucks. It seems like a really weird especially the way that game ends, like and so strongly regardless of the ending that you know, and now it's been since the game came out two months, like this is your reason and this is I think this is one of the things where they had to make some decisions about DLC pretty early and like kind of the safe route with like here's some stuff we know we can nail and we know we can we can put out. I mean, it's at this schedule low risk, and hopefully
that means the next ones will be more ambitious. Hopefully those will be the like reactionary or or developed as a reaction to what people actually liked about Saints Robb the third and then it's up Bearing Fruit and then six months from now, it's like, actually, it was all worth it. We had had to get your one crabby see to get you the really good ones. It seemed to be three and four. They're like, yeah, we seem to
be named story one. We just this one and by the season past, and it sounds like it'll be cheaper for me to just wait and buy did your story? Yes? If the Panda suit, So you have the Panda suit, which is which has a little short cape on it to justify how you can kind of hang glide while wearing nothing but a pantasy Okay, it's got it's got powers, but no, no, but when you wear it it doesn't. In the mission it does, but when you just put it
on, it doesn't. So I put the Panta suit on from the top, I think, and jump off the building and just hit the ground. Yeah, but did you have all fall damage turned off? Yeah? That's why, because I thought it was funny to just keep falling. If they doesn't, if they had given you the ability to just like glide around the city it's super high rates of speed, that would have been maybe worth Yeah, that would have been kind of a dumb, weird thing to add.
Maybe I miss maybe you hit the turbo or something, and man, I'm doing it wrong. Anybody else have just like this awful gut response when you jump off like a thousand football building, And like I literally have to look away from the screen sometimes because I can feel the bottom of my stomach like drop out. Yeah, like I can't. They can't handle it. It's
just like awful. It's it's some games fighting can't. But like it's like a slight visual cue something they do to the way like the screen like kind of warbles a little bit. Like there's some games that like that doesn't happen to me, but then there are other games that does. Assassin's Creed dude, Yeah, that's the only one, even even the whatever they call the jump into the hay bales and stuff. Yeah, I men, that's more
what I'm talking about, because if you're just not into hay bales. I played everything, one of those Way to Die Play Everything, one of those goddamn games, and every time I have to like like shimmy out and like pull myself up onto like the little sink point. Yeah, on the top of those hours, that is always a stressful, like even at a low
level, it's always some sort of stress. I got it the worst, and I think it was in the Last Assassin Squed where you're I think you're climbing inside the dome of something and it's like you're on the other side and you're just like you you're so high up and you're just on these like little tiny little nooks and crannies, and like you have to do like it is dead, like jumping backwards from just hanging like just these kind of over you
and you just see the bottom. And just because like the end of that is supposed to be, like you're supposed to assassinate a dude who's on the ground floor from this crazy high up position. It was terrible. That was a bad one. Also getting when I get hit with the rocks and I just fall off a high wall. That's when like my testicles jump into my stomach. Oh, I can't. This is uncontrolled ball, this is broken legs, this bone. You're not gonna walk again at CEO. The story
ends here, just dragged all just black and white. Saro Smith, just yeah, Sarah Smith. And that's bad, lady. You get hit by a rock. He's aerosmith. Yeah. Uh. He gives a weapon and then Skyrim, and then Skyrim and Arrowsmith and then Skyrim. Listen said the greatest hits of Arrasmith. While playing Skyrim, listen to Steven Tyler sing national Oh I heard a lot that was Oh I had to God. I was in the kitchen while I was playing, and I reached up and turned on
the exhaust fan on the stove to drown it out. I'm not kissed at this weekend, YEA for the other game ravens and teaches Aerosmith and football. It's American dream like a cat, like wailing, like a bad like a cat, like a cat that's about to die. Cat. You ever go
back to listen Street Cat? You ever hear like early seventies Aerosmith like dream on is the only song I even know, But like, sure, listen to the way he sounds on that versus now the toys in the act has he It's like if you got some recent videos of straight meat loaf, cannet hit any of the notes he used to. He actually now just gets actively
booed on stage because he can't do any of it. Think about it about how the crypt Keeper sounds when he taught us, and then look at Steven Tyler and you're like, yeah, yeah, it's him in Vegas one time. He's like five feet tall. Steven Keeper. Yeah, yes, if there's a place I would expect to run into him in person. Three o'clock in the morning, hitting the buffet, two shows a night black on Monday. No, he was just there. The crypt Keeper does arrows covers,
got back up. He's got a backup. I would love to play those in a bar. Marrow Smith. He started out all episodes of Tales from the Crypts. I hate this past the Little Daddy. It's gotten really bad, just humming like an opening. He's gonna get on iTunes and start voting it down. What is wrong with this bullshit? The lost podcast never start over. I like the better when they drink stupid dreams. I know, so much more entertaining. So gives updates from Skyram. Oh man, I'm
working my way through it. I cleaned cleaned out my miscellaneous quest log are I don't believe why would you do that? Because it was annoying me. There's stuff in there because it's none of it's consequential. You get nothing fun. It's cleared out like the next three people you talk to. So do that's the thing is that it's never gonna back up. Don't talk to anybody. Well, some of the repeating questions, I just haven't met Vinny before.
Stopped talking to It's very you know, the guy needs his book back, so he now he has his book. You said you were gonna look for the books. I found the book. He's thinking how much time? Yeah, it must have taken to do all this pretty quick. I mean that game tells you wear everything. It's just like you get this question, travel here, run in here. These guys get the thing and I'm pretty strong, so uh, you know, it doesn't take that long. But
everybody's happy in the world. They're psyched. They wish they were more psyched and acknowledge that, like I have become the leader of every guild instead of being like, dude, get me a book, and I'm like, I'm like two steps away from being a god. Really, I really have grown to dislike that part. I think it really like the actually the things you are doing in each of the different guilds, like our quests are are cool.
But when you think about like what your character has become in like the context of the world, it really breaks it For I think it is your character is not. I think at the point that you become the game just chooses to make you the leader of everything. There's no reason you couldn't have gone to all of these and you just experienced a quest line. Like at the end of it, you become the leader, the chosen leader, the
divine leader of all these things. In terms of it breaks it from me in like I like having this character in the world that had this quest and the dragon born part. I get that that ground, like you know, sort of elevate you in the world is in terms of importance, but there's no reason for me being in charge of everything else, and it I know it's a suspension of disbelief, but like I like to play the game to a certain extent that as though I'm a character that just has this role in
this world and you have a park role playing. Yeah, and it's not like I'm I'm really role playing, but it's I don't know, it's the quest line that is like unite the guilds. So like when you become the leader of all the guilds, they had had one more thing that's like all right, now get all these dudes together, because you you unite all the
guilds and then that ends in fucking tragedy and chaos. Yeah exactly, Like like what if what if those quest lines all ended in like some sort of just like backstabbery of or just just tragedy, work your way up to the top of you know, the Dark Brotherhood and then someone turncoats on you, or just like there are situations where the game will give you dialogue trees. It's the trees in the game, but where it's like you are now going to be a charge and then you can say, like, no, I
know, I'm not really interested. It's like too late. At least at least give you the option of like wanting to contextualize your character like or at least like give you like, hey, you can only be in charge of one guild, and as results making a charge of that guild, you get some really cool perks. Right, You've made a choice, like of course you're gonna want to experience all the content and that's and I can suspend the disbelief of like how are you going to be able to participate in all of
these guilts? And no one thinks that's sort of weird or would hear back about it, but I think it would have made a lot more sense if they made you sort of choose, Like I found the thieves guilt to be the most interesting, and I really hated giving up that the Nightingale armor for the dragon armor, which is just better because I identified with that questine.
I thought it was really cool. I enjoyed the way it ended and felt like I'd really earned my way as part of like this whole like society, and then you just do all the other ones and it just sort of diminished everything accomplished. You could like to just give you an active effect that's like,
Okay, you're the leader of the thieves guild. You you're sneak plus fifty percent now, and then like you if you want to take on the leader of the major's guild, you get like an active effect like those stones or whatever. I think there's there's value in like letting the player be this petty good if if the player so desires to. But it's it's the it's the double standard because they in some cases, news travels really quickly around that
world where you know you have NPC is acknowledging stuff that you did. You know on the other side of the world as soon as you could fast travel there, but then to not acknowledge that you're like also the lead of all this ship and running everything and killing people in broad daylights. I feel like they could They could definitely write it out of the game. Uh if they had the time to just basically like like two ways. One would just be
just a throwaway line of dialogue when you start a new guild. That's like, I can't believe the leader of the insert x insert wise certain would want to become a new jack. Oh well, and like that's it. Or they could just say at the end of every quest line like we should keep this secret that you're the new leader, you know, and and not tell
anybody because you'll bring a lot of heat, and then that's it. I prefer the idea of the running joke of every single time you go to a new guild and it's just like, I can't believe the leader of the Major's Guild and Thieves Guild brotherhood would want to start from scratch and go fetch me coffee. That would only be good if they stitched it together like a joke. I can't believe the leader of the Thieves Guild and the Major's Guild and
the Chicago Bulls. Uh. Yeah, that part gets a little weird, but at this point that game, like I'm so overpowered, not overpowered.
I feel like, like you said, like like a pettygon or like just kind of like The Lost Didrich Prince guess like part of the the what's implied with your character and Skyrim kind of all of the Bethesda games, it's like you are the specific character and you have this this role in the story that plays out, but you're also just that's just sort of like the lens into the world of like here, we've built this crazy world with all of these
things that are happening, and it's through this character that you get to see that stuff. So I get the terrestre that they probably don't take that very so that they sort of don't care that it's just like whatever we built it, this con experienced the content. They they are saying here as a giant smorgus board. Yeah, and like cheese happens to run up against Cranberry sauce
together like that you shouldn't put them right next. Well, except they're really easy ways for them to not have that problem, Like they're equally easy ways for you to not experience it, Like you could go make another character to do the bad guy guilds if you want to, I guess, but I
don't need to be in charge of everything. And there are really easy ways of giving players choices to opt out of that or and like it's it's not an impossible problem, Like you can you can experience all the content and to spend the disbelief while also having sort of like a grounded context for your character's role in that world, while also allowing the players that want to break all of it to do that too. And it's not it's not a crazy expectation
for them to wye you to do that. And I think it's just a little more frustrating because they do track some of that. You see them tracking some of that. They come so close to nailing that stuff in other areas coming out of your years, like yeah, I did the werewolf thing, right, Yeah, that's right, Like you smell like a wet dog. It's like, I know, but I purified myself to stop with the wet dogs stuff. Thank you? You still get that after? Oh yeah,
haven't gotten that? I did that before the guild thing. I'm very limber now, makes sense. It's got those ribs removed for a reason. Uh. Yeah, I'm doing the Dark Brotherhood stuff, which is my last guild quest, and I hope that's good. But the Thieves Guild so far has been fantastic. That is disappointment. I finished it and it's it's fine, but it's not. Uh. We ran to the same issue, which I'm convinced this has to be a glitch, is that early on when you start
the Dark Brotherhood, you are given a couple of contract kills. It's to try and get you if like, hey, if your character hasn't been like killing innocence, we're gonna kick start this real fast where you're just gonna kill some people that you've just been assigned. Uh. But the idea is that like Dark brother you were like you. I aren't even playing like a thief character. So I was used to being like hidden and silent and stuff like
that. But there's one character where you she's part of a mining operation. She runs like the smelter the forge. Reason someone ons are killed and no matter what you do, it always its causes a bounty and guards to come after you. I waited until she went back to her home. She was asleep. I crouched behind her. I put on my uh Thieves guild like visible for one hundred and twenty seconds, power like drinking in vince ability postion, like I put on everything I could, and no matter what you do,
the guards run in immediately. I don't think that happened to me, because it happened if any and I started reading about it. Yeah, you you automatically get a bounty and you have to kill like the six guards to come up so that you get the uh you've killed all the witnesses and then
you can just run away. Maybe, man, I don't know it was it was it's yeah, yeah, I was hiding in a corner, like hitting her in the face with a bow, and it would tell me like sneak damage, so like I had done it like the game acknowledge as I was hidden, and yet everyone still everyone still walks. Yeah that's where I am. Actually I've done I've done a couple of them after that, and it's just I don't know if it's the Thieves goal was just so good.
I just I don't feel like I'm doing anything particularly badass or Yeah, the Companions stuff, really it seemed a lot shorter, padded out with some kind of menial class once you encountered the werewolf stuff. After that, it was the companion stuff wasn't wasn't nearly as interesting, But the werewolf reveal is pretty good. Of a sudden, I haven't done that mission that was. That was definitely the best moment of that stuff. The Major's Guild was I don't
even remember much of it. It was just kind of magnus Yeah. I
thought they didn't explain enough of why it was important. I get this weird feeling like when especially the Eye of Magnus one, that may just go like a lot of the lingering stuff, like I know they haven't said, like what the dealc is gonna be here, They haven't decided, but they're all these like dangling things that very clearly sort of set up in a lot of the different guilds, Like like when you finished the Thieves Guild one and they
say, you know, at some point you're probably gonna be called back to defend this place, right, Yeah, don't go too far. That sounds like something they could do later. The Majors Guild definitely played on more of the political stuff that's going on more than any of the other ones because they had the visiting dude, the Founder, Like, yeah, I haven't I haven't gone down the story the main storylines, so I don't know if they
flesh that stuff. Founder stuff is all, and I don't think I don't think they will do DLC that the as you go defend the Thieves Guild thing, because then they're having DLC with a prerequis done. An there's there's definitely some of that found more stuff in the main storyline. Yeah, like you go to the embassy and you deal with okay, right, Yeah, so I haven't done so I had to read all the books to figure out why this is an issue or like what the history is in the span and Stop
started by don't justifying, don't stop. You bought the books, don't stop. There's a lot of good stuff. I think I have a pretty good sense of creation myth and lore and the last three eras. And did they ever explain like because when you go to the Majors College, they they talk about like how the uh, what's the city outside of the major skulls Winterhole? How the Winterhole hates the Majors College because a bunch of a bunch of
its off a cliff and they they just does that ever? Get is that a PsyD quest having experience explained scene, the major s girl says they didn't do it, that it was just any It was part of a volcanic thing that I assumes part of aout their elder scrolls Lord that I don't know much. Yeah, hey, guys, I bet it was magic. It wasn't magic. It made the majors claim, but shit, but I bet it was. I bet it's magic. Usually don't like magic. I bet it's
magic. Yeah, so it's probably magic. It's fairies. Is that magic that was in like the big like bethesitive elder Girl's book? It's probably how did it? Probably magic? And there's a major in the act a lower book. Probably magic. Come on, who's inn adra? What's an adra? What's a Dedra's adra? Apparently? Yeah, Well the daydre are from
a different that amazing. The dadra are well, they're not the same though, So the dadra are from apparently a different plane of existence, and the adra are the things that created like the earth basically, uh, and one of the main Adra helped locan or something helps create the earth. Nearne is the name of the planet. I guess. Uh, this is something that I can never not think about whenever we, like you dig into fantasy stuff, is like this is you know, this is a world, like this
is a planet somewhere, so that means there's fucking space. That means like science fiction exists somewhere outside of the world and that science fiction. Yeah. So yeah, and then some of the Adra lost their power when they made Earth and they became like the note or the ones that people worship. But there are more Adra out there. And basically what you're saying, it's fallout takes place in the ninth era. It's way That's what I'm hearing. It's
magic. Yeah, okay, yes, ninety something hours. Good lord, I'm thinking I'll top out. Probably one twenty is where I'm putting my money. That's a lot of time. I don't know how far I am in the main storyline, uh, because I've been doing all that side quest stuff. Where do you stop? I don't remember. Okay, a dude with a beard told me to do something. Well, all that happens several times. Somebody told me to do I have the last shout, I shouted the
last or I learned the last part of the push fur Ra dough. Yeah. I haven't done main storylines. Yeah, so that's fun. Skyrim s Kyram. You think you're gonna play the deals? What's the what is the deal? So I haven't said. Okay, let me finish this first part first. I got everything done, everything tied up, of the boat. Any other mods that you've kicked in since last time? No, you know that big booty mod is real, tempting, understandable, but clean. David
cleans booty. Some people want a dirty booty. Can I get a dirty big booty or clean big booty? Don't have to choose a big, dirty or clean. I think he's just you think you put the big booty and then pick whether you want them dirty or direct? Fast, cheap, great? Pick two. That's right, you can't have them all many. Uh. Yeah. I play with the controller, and a lot of the mods
for the UI stuff I think I think are for keyboard. Somebody did send me something to try and bind a quick save to the controller, but it wasn't working quite round. Give it another go. Scripting Basically, you just it's you. Yeah, you override the input commands for the controller and say hey, when I push back back and left and right. I don't know this button. Uh it will quick save, okay, which it would be great, it would be super nice. But it's not working. I crashed
crash, so it's definitely not working. I think the copy and paste I did into the file was bad, so I think he sent me the actual files. I'll try. I'll write it out again, report back. Yeah, that's that would be a great feature. And Viny, I'm talking about sex. Yeah, all right, you saw, Hey, Ryan, you saw ss I sure did you and I and Sean coons SS. Well. I learned yesterday that Vinny can't SSX. He can say it, he's just not confident. When he's not confident, can do too many times or not
enough. He's free. He's just gonna say sex sss x X. See that's what I did. That's what it sounds like coming out s S sex. I just want to say, And then he ends up always going s s X deliberate, just as awkward as possible. Took way too long to say that name S SX. I think I just put the stress on their SSS. I still would have known what you were talking about. It would have been fine. But yes, super snowbloard Cross. We wouldn't saw that.
I saw SX at that's stands for super Snowboard Cross teching. That was crazy. Yeah, yeah, you's as with the snowboard clean. Yeah. We brought the coon's down with us to UH as the resident Wiskimedia number one sex appreciated as expert. I've I've never met anyone that loves I really enjoy I played s sex. I played all of them except for Blur for the we and all of the s sxes. Yes, all of the sexes uh and have really enjoyed that series a lot. But Sean Coons takes it to
another level. He made so we did it came for he comes from another plane of existence where all there is is sex, so he did as snowboarding the BA and the nine divinities had to sacrifice their power. It was the dirty sport known as the unholy sports choice powder. Uh. So we did a quick look road show with Connor Dugan, producer on it and U D O U G A N. I direct the lower third right so the he
also spelled it. He also spelled it. So the part that I thought was really funny after forty five minutes of doing the quick Lock Road Show. Yeah. Uh, Sean is talking to Connor and they're rapping, and Sean knows basically the like travel tour these guys are gonna be on, Like, oh, so you guys are off to here and then you're going to like Aspen or you know, we're doing this. And then the dude just looks
at him. It's like you really are a fan, like like literally just like what the tour that these professional snowboarders are going to be on and that this guy is attached to. And he's like wow, like just kind of like this weird you know, like we deal with these guys, Yeah, I said, and as you do, what's wrong? You know where I'm gonna be in like because yeah, we we totally upset the way of things.
Yeah, we brought it. We brought an outside. No actually cares about videos, right he No one on either side of this was seeing that, and they try to keep them in arms life most of the time. So apparently his sons three sixty had broken and he had just been playing different PlayStation two SSX games. I'm mostly playing three that's his favorite. Uh when I agree with that just coincidentally, not like you know, that's what he plays, he said his three sixty eight it during the break and all over
the s X Sex is a snowboarding game. It has so I mean that game had like a really long, crazy development cycle, like we've seen it kind of debuted multiple times with different uh you know, kind of aesthetics or focuses. It seemed like there was at a time when it was s X deadly descents weird military aesthetic, right, which was like like like the dude's
gonna have guns, And they've toned back a lot of that stuff. They've just kind of focused that into the best because it's like, I wonder if they toned that back because there was such a negative reaction to that trailer. So I was one of there was one of the spike reveals. Yeah, and people I think people just saw that what the is going on? It's I mean, it's it's I mean, it's the wrong direction for ssex.
It's it's not even that's I can't even like put that in a taste thing because sex is about kind of bright colors and this reality defying feel which if you try and too much reality real, Yeah, that's not your dude should like have you know, glowing hands and shit like that's that's kind of what sex is about. Its glowing hands holding M sixteen and gun people down while I snowboards. So we were playing the like the kind of the online stuff
which has a lot of asynchronou stuff. They've basically taken the uh you know, the hot pursuit of the hot pursuit the wall and do you have you your snow righter net? Yeah, righter net wall, yeah is what they call it there. But all all that, all that same basic stuff and it still works really well for that I would say it's it works great, yeah, because you know it's the same thing of like, dude, you this guy beat your time and a than is this what you want to do?
Yeah? I want to just I just want to basically, uh, let me play. And from the sound of the way they're structuring things like he Connor when he was showing it to us giving us the demo said that, you know the single players stuff, that the structured mode that we have here kind of we know what counts for a story in ssex, uh is not real huge Like this is kind of the you know, he didn't want
to just say tutorial. He's like a little more than that. But this is kind of us teaching you that all of the stuff that's in this game and like what, you know, all this gear, what does this mean? And what does survivability mean? And what you can you do to you
know, impact that. Uh there is that quick look is long. That's like a fifty minute quip loo And I'll say, man, like, you know, I played that game in Vegas like at some point last year and they were showing off all the mass affect multiplayer stuff and they had a build of that there and it was one of those things like I played it in solid this has potential, Like it's not I'm not an SSX expert expert, No, I'm not an expert on the ss Please fuck you for even trying
to pin that on me, Dick Gerstmann. Shit, but it looks like it had a lot of potential. And watching the video that went up today, yeah, it seems like that, it seems like they finally have put it all together and you watch it and go, oh fuck, this looks awesome, Like it seems like they were finally realized. You know, a lot of the crazy ass tricks, a lot of big air, the mountains look good they've got. It looks great. The snow deformation stuff and that
avalanche stuff. It just looks outstanding. Trying to outrun the avalanche and the way that they're putting the text kind of on the mountain. Yeah, I think that stuff looks great. Yeah, the glow coming off the tricks, the trick animations like this, just a lot of really real, it's looking stuff. It's a game that I think looks really sharp in motion, Like that's like when that game is moving and it's and screenshots is just like a
snow I don't know. Yeah, and I don't know that the characters necessarily really pop when you kind of are just looking at them at the beginning of of of a run or whatever, but when when everything's going And I experienced a couple of frame rate hitches. But I don't know if you saw you that when you were playing, Yeah, just like few like at the end of a racer. But I but I had also, you know, kind
of uh. After the last time that I saw Sex, which was the first time I went and got refamiliarized myself, I hadn't played at any of the old games in a really long time. So I went and played a bunch of Sex three and so going into this game, like, yeah, they they do have like they have a new control scheme, but they also have a classic control scheme if that's way you want to go. And the
classic control scheme is very accurate to the way those games handled before. But the new control scheme is is fine, Like they've done a good job and kind of modernizing that. That's all right, stick stuff right, it can be right six stuff or can be buttons for the for the standard controls as
they call them, uh kind of. The only difference for the class controls is the introduction introduction of the rewind and some of your like survival though its like expect, you have a wingsuit now and you can equip that, and if you have that or some other gadget equipped, those can have different effects.
But I feel like it handles pretty good, you know. S Sex never had a huge at least on a character to character basis a huge variety of tricks because it's a pretty simple trick system all told, because you can do it with just buttons. So it's like hold these two buttons and you know, hold to the left and you'll do a spin. Variant of this trick. It sounds like there's a signature trick though for each I think that. But I think that signature signature trick is just what activates when you have
like the super tricky activated and you you hit a certain button combinations. So there are a bunch of characters. Yeah, there's tell characters. Most from returning. They kind of just look like snowboarding dudes like you might. They're not as extreme as they've been in the past. No, you know, redheaded, big afro dude or anything like that. Oh I know, I
know. Yeah, So so they've kind of gone away from that. Like that's maybe like the good benefit of the kind of the call of the Deadly Descent stage of the development was I get the sense that that's where this character design was kind of born from. You get a lot of dubstep and the
music integrat we seems they integrate really well. Like Guy was saying that, actually when you're that'll do beat matching, Like there's clear stuff of like the kind of the musical volume will kind of drop away when you're in the air and then it'll hit again when you when you touch it, they'll kind of cut it off a little bit. Yeah, they'll do a little that kind of cut off and then it'll open back up when you when you land,
which is a nice touch. But he was saying that if you're like grinding a rail and you start spinning, the game will actually try and beat match the music to the rotation of your spin, which if that I I didn't I wasn't playing with headphones, so I couldn't really notice that stuff. Yeah, and something that I might not come across. Well, and the quick looks are talking over constantly, and there's a lot of bleed from the music is real sharp. Yeah, I think it seems like it also when you
when it cuts off severely. Think there are there are times you'll land that will make like a shock wave go through the ground. And it seems like the music well time well so that you land on a beat on a bag. So we're just telling me as heavy drops, heavy drops like a great a great match for the heavy drops, right and you drop, Yeah, you drop all you drop and yeah, exhibit dubstep. It's a lot of Now that's tricky. There's a bunch of gear. Uh yeah, I have
a whole gear system. You you know, equip before you do a run and that can affect your performance. And it's every time you go like before run and you go to the store, I guess the stock is randomized and they're just using like borderland style of just like you know, pig couple of color coded loot. Yeah, this totally has like purple like like like yellow and purple. We want sick purples and heavy drops with names like epic snow like Epic you know with their snowboard gun in there is it like a dev
tool like just shoot out the billions of snowboards. Oh man, I gotta go all Gary's mods, Epics Sturdy snowboard or like like like but like totally familiar like RPG loop naming convention for that, like Snowboard of the Tan. But there are ones that will have to like you know, like regenerative qualities to them. And there's you know, there's a set that I've seen on a couple of characters. It's straight up and glows. What do you mean
magenitive qualities? Well for your health because there's so the news. So they've still got like race events and track events, which is kind of like the basics for for SSX, but they've also now introduced the survival events where and I think this is more the Deadly Descents. This is this is this is where the Deadly Descent stuff comes in. And it's crazy. It's all still
called no no, no, there's there's still mode in the game. I think like the subtitle for the story mode was called like or you go through like the nine Deadly Descents through the game is just s yeah, the s they just they just dropped the the Deadly Descents from the title. But that's definitely where that comes from, is the and and these are these are courses where there are massive gaps or obstacles. They actually they have a lot of
variety to those Deadly descents. They like Vinnie tried one where you start at the top of Mount Everest and you don't have enough oxygen, so you have to have an oxygen tank and you have to breathe from it at at intervals or else you start getting the tunnel vision and so like just black starts coming in from the sides. Yeah, yeah, so there's that stuff. There's a swine. There's one where it's yeah, where it's the middle of the
snowstorms. So you have to use these pulse goggles which just give you like a quick like flash of like the grid of kind of what the nearby mountain looks like. Probably not go out snowboarding that day, but and so you kind of have to go by that. And then also like the flares that are laid down to kind of give you a sense of where the track is, but you can't tell necessarily if some of those flares are telling you like, hey, this is a place to jump or this is the edge of
the world. So you have to kind of play that one a little bit more safe. There's armor. There's ones where you have to wear armor, where like if you impact a tree, it will take away your armor and eventually your health and then you will just get knock the fuck out. O the avalanche stuff where your there's there's some yeah, the avalanche stuff, but there's some really cool Uh I was gonna say, but yes, the avalanche stuff. Avalanche stuff looks really cool. That's cool. It's like procedural based
on like the avalanche. You'll kick it off every time you land really hard, like a bunch of snow will kick up from where you land. It's not just like you hit like you go past a certain gait or whatever, and it's like, Okay, now it's time for avalanche or just go real fast. It's it's actually every time that you are jumping up and landing really hard, you're gonna cause cause a little slide. So it kind of like eggs and flows. It's not like it's just constantly ramping up and so it's
like I gotta go faster. You go faster. It's like you can kind of manage it some, but ultimately you're just trying to get down to the bottom of the hill in one piece. But a lot of these, like the survival stuff, kind of the Deadly Descent stuff, I feel like there's
there's a lot of really unique course design for that stuff. It's like some really bizarre, Like there's one of the ones that we saw was basically just this narrow ridge that's just kind of going down this mountain that you just have like open air on either sides of and just having basically stay on this extremely narrow little course without fucking falling off and eating it. Yeah, that's interesting.
Stuff like the wingsuit makes that more possible. And then you also have this rewind feature, which they kind of put different limits on depending on what mode you're in. To be able to kind of save yourself from completely because when you fall off one of those things, they're like, that's the end of your run. You need you need to start over. We're not gonna
like just like blink you back to twenty yards before you did that. One of the most interesting things the guy said, and I'm not sure if this made into the quick look, was that in the previous games where they have like nine courses or something like that, they were all kind of handcrafted. And yeah, it was nine drops. I think it's what he used.
But yeah, whatever, yeah, like three mountains maybe nine drops and this for this, they said, it's really easy for us now to just get a topographical data from like Google Maps, and like we could generate two hundred mountains almost instantly. Uh, and then we have to go in and tweak them to make them fun to play. But basically the foundation for those maps are very easy to generate because and they're realistic. But nobody wants to skate
down or snowboard down actual mountain everyest, right. But but it's yeah, they're saying that they're using you know, like they've they've said this before, but they're saying they're using NASA topographical data for all these mountains. Yeah, basically one of the first things we've heard about the games, and they developed some kind of weird technology generation and then they're clearly spending a whole lot of time going in there and actually tweak making a fun and like adding jumps and
all and rails and all the things. Yeah, big red pipes and all the features that you kind of need to make that playable thing. But there's one hundred and fifty two drops in that game, right, which it seemed like there was like three or four drops per peak. So and there's like I don't like, there's a ton of different regions and there's multiple peaks in each of those regions. His three, it gets an exclusive you know, that's mountain fully for the p S three. But it seems like there's already
just a shitload of mountains in that game. It seems like there's a lot of courses to go. Some of the drops overlap other drops. It's just you know, it's yeah, you drop, this is like a different leg,
and then the bottom half is going to be all the same. Like, there's definitely a lot of time and not everyone that I saw was a complete winner, you know, like there's because they're kind of wide open and there's so much stuff going on in different angles and and this is just you know, kind of guess true back to the ssex experience, it's easy to you can't find yourself, just like in a weird cave. Like I'm totally disoriented. I'm trying to go down, but my physics are kind of kicking
me up the hill. Uh. Like I definitely had that once or twice. Uh, but it seems like they always want you to go down. Yeah, they'll come straight now. Watching that guy play was so much better than watching any of us play. If you have any interest in this game, I encourage you strongly to watch that quick look because the guy's playing, uh is the best sex player in the world. Connor Dugan is the best sex player in the world. And Sean so he claims smid Sean Bristle,
Yeah, Sean didn't. John did not like that claim at all coming out. I think Shot said for now, well even he said he said, yeah, then the game will be out two days and all my scores will be demolished. So yeah, that that wall stuff is is interesting. Yeah, but yeah, all the all the asynchronous stuff because they're you know, they're throwing ghosts out there for when you're doing the runs. You gotta get
the power pellets. But then they would goes only stay blue for a little while and you can set up go around corners fashion and go through straight aways. Okay, if you got you've got a bunch of people together, you all raise them ountain kind of what's that game you really like with the planets? I don't know. Yeah, that one, I don't know, the one with the racing cars trous panic yea, uh so yeah, it's it's kind of like that. But you just said clips through each other old.
Uh so you see other people raise can I can I buy this game with planets? Can I use planets? Probably game? We didn't ask. I don't know what's what's the black market like for planets? You know, I haven't really seen one. I don't think I is sellinglanets. It has too bad. But how much gonna get for nearn N? I think it's nil? It's nern root, isn't it? Yeah it's not NEARN. Well, I know that there's there's uh if you buy another retail code for the game
and enter it, you get another stack of planets. So there actually is a real world money to planets conversion right on some level. You just can't get it out of the system once it's in. I want to play more
SX. From what I played, Yes, he was like they found their voice, you know, how to go to maybe a dark patch trying to it seems like the really descent stuff while not the focus anymore of like like the the visual flair, it seems like having gone through that because at some point they had had to been thinking, we can't just make another SSX. We have to broaden the appeal. You know, games just scale differently. Now they have to be more epic and awesome. We have to just snowboarding.
It's not gonna work. Look at Tony Hawk. We need something different. So I see how they arrive at that conclusion. Yeah, uh, and it's it seems like the fan pushback maybe perhaps allowed them to get nudge in the direction that is a nice compromise. You get the cool new different modes, but also it's just another SX game. It seems like it seems like they are you know, adding to it without sacrificing, you know, the appeal of the original, but the soul of X with some some new
twists. He's got some nice It's got that like kind of burnouty polish to it, where like the music kicks in and at the right places. And I think I think they may even mentioned like he was he was dropping. He said like, yeah, we want this to be like, you know, burnout on snow like that. Who's making this? EA Canada? They made Blur too, they made they made sex Blur, I think too. Did they do that one? But I wonder how much carry over there is. And I was a while ago, and yeah, that was about four
years ago, four or five years And they're not. This is not an e Sports Big releases. They're not. They're not bringing that back. I don't think. I don't think the Sports Big survived passed PS two stuff. Yeah, February February twenty. They're originally on for Valentine's Day and then off two weeks. I don't know why, but the game looked looked pretty sharp from what I saw. I'm eager to play more of it a week before
mass fact, there's nothing else kind of like that, no interesting. Yeah, you know, I feel like they've done some good stuff, modernizing the kind of the package around the basic gameplay, and the basic gameplay still to
me feels very much like s sex. Uh. Look at some of it, like looking back the the old standard sex controls, which I enjoy because they give you a certain amount of grand lader control of because the thing with with old s sex controls were that you had your analog stick for movement and then used the D pad to like wind up for jumps. You would hold it down well no what you'd hold the like the like the A or the X button to charge up your jumps, and you'd you'd basically wind up your
spins y the dpad. So it's kind of like you lined up a jump, got off the analog stick, and went to the to the dpad to start winding stuff up, which I kind of enjoyed, but I can totally see how that is intuitive doing that. It was one of the things that drives me away from from all the snowboarding games that did that sort of stuff, like the wind up mechanic. Uh, I just never clicked with me
and never liked it in anything this. I mean, this still relies on that a lot, but it's all on the stick, so they're holding the right analog stick down to you're holding jump, and then at that point you can't steer, you can only wind or what No, you get some air control? Yeah, you definitely do. How is that your hand can figure down the controller? I guess it depends. So again you can use for tricks. You can use either holding face buttons or you can do gestures on
the on the right stick. But you can also wind up using the left sticky. And I think if I recall this, that's kind of thing that breaks me in a lot of ways because winding up instead of steering seems like a bad trade. I am always adjusting where I am at until the very last moment before I jump. The trade off, yeah, is if you want to have big jumps, you have to line it up early, which is why I don't play us se so done. It doesn't sound that different
from like preloading onto a TV, though, uh you often preload. I mean you're preloading up down, so you're still steering. You have to get like straight onto your jump for that jump to matter. You still have to
line it up correct still steering control. Your girls are generally not spinning your ATV horizontally like you will do flips on a TV, But rarely are you trying to go round and round and you're not necessarily like preloading your suspension to do flips and in most of those games just trying to get maxima mayor off stuff. So it's pulling up, but you can still steer while you do
it. But the plant your feet you can't steer because now you're winding that always through me and you got a little I think they're they're splitting the difference in this. Yeah, they're they're making it so that you still have some
control, but you are sacrificing some of that to start winding up. So and I think they're just presuming, like if you're holding down the jump button, it's like you're ready to go. You're getting ready to go, so you know if you're gonna if you're gonna load up, Whereas, like I played Tony Hawk, like almost always holding down the jump button because you never know. Well, this is definitely not Tony Hawk. Yeah again, still pretty good play. Yeah, I liked it again, watch that quick look
it's it's lengthy and Connor shows off shi. Yeah, some of the stuff he does is amazing. He is very good, so he kind of gives you a sense of like, this is how awesome it can look you Your hurt experience may vary. Yeah, it was going down the mountain on my butt's yeah, when you're on on your butt spinning along. I was that that pipeline you're scooting. I was just kinda scooting. Anybody or ever actually snowboarded, I did. I tried doing it on this snow It was basically
ice. Yeah, that was that's rough. Yeah, hurt your tail on, hurt it bad. Just one of those really, I'm not getting down this mountain. This is roll roll down this mountain. Almost blacked out, I thought of That was one of the last times I went. People that I was with actually went down on the butts. At the end of the day. It was just like, oh god, I just gotta get off the mountain. Yeah. It was get that hot tup somehow, but it
just was not carving into anything. It was just kind of like just grating down the side every time and just and shomp. I don't know. I survived. When you were younger, you bounce back from those. Yeah, you don't necessarily break your wrist. Yeah, I haven't been since I turned thirty. She got brittle. Yeah, you know, austio process set in and that lack of milk. Yeah, shouldn't listen to your bra or a ligament in my knee. The last time I went jeez, yeah, I
remember was a kid Steve Tyler, great snowboard. Of course it's right because he's turned. He screeches the entire time, just flies down, sends the dust, and then just a horse goes. That wasn't a horse, horse that was. It was a witch cackle, same thing. I just picturing him like trailing, like ethereal skulls and like black energy behind him. Accurate everywhere you've been, the bustin in his natural habitats singing that song from Armageddon
soundtrack, just colorful ribbons flying behind him. He didn't want to make meaning the national anthem. Patrick Lavick, what have you been playing? Remember the music video? It's like singing live Tyler's in the hanging out in the in the in the end of the jet Engine. I used to like that movie. I think I still like that movie. Yeah, yeah, yes, yeah, you space Dementia. I don't think it's it's not nearly as enjoyable as Independence Day, but I do enjoy I do Enjoyarmageddon, so they came
up the same summer as a deep impact. Yep, yeah, we all know what movie won that battle. It's like there's did have Morgan Freeman as
the president. Though I enjoy uh the shenanigans in Armageddon, but I can never get over there's a scene when they're on the meteor and there once they get to the media, it's not the movie kind of falls off the fucking supposed the independence they were like keeps getting better as they go to the like the alien mothership like once once I'm again and gets to the but there's a there's a shot in our agon when they're like coming up over a hill on
the fucking meteor in their little space g thing or whatever, and you can just see grass on the full side. You can just see like, yeah, we just went out there's this little kind of little knoll over here, and we just rode the thing up at night over the top of this, and there's probably no grass. I'm gonna you know what what. That's also not the most ridiculous thing in that movie, but for whatever reason, it
always gathers no moss. Everyone knows this. It's the thing that are they are they trying to split the meteor or are they trying to deflect to split it? I think it's an asteroid? Oh is it because it hasn't entered the sure? No, that's that that's physical difference between an asteroid and it's big. Oh uh, that's not a good strategy. Don't try and break up now, then you just have a bunch of still pretty big rocks. What's the one where they don't they eventually just deflect it, like they try
and get it to or is that deep impact? Which one where they try like it's just trying they try and edge it out of the way so that it gets caught in like the solar sales something. Yeah, I don't know. Doesn't a deep impact? They get hit, don't they poorly? It's the impact, isn't that? Yeah? They're like they're they're they're ending, they're embracing as like the giant tsunami comes to like take them out and like doesn't always what are they doing? Arm again? They blow it up?
Right? Yeah? And then the America winds is what happened ends with damn the smaller rocks kind of streaking into the atmosphere. So it's like show and yeah, America, yes, right, fire Away and the rest of the world too, but you know Paris because those guys forget that, and then the Core happened. That dog made it though never Never, No Break. You should watch the Coal in that respect. Movies. Yeah you Stanley Tucci's choose scenery in that movie like no, one's god, what is he doing?
Is he a scientist? Uh? Yes, but he's like a high falutin, like very well self regarded fucking scientists. He's constantly smoking and wearing like an ascot. Yeah he's great, he's but no, no, no, he's the but he's the scientist asshole. He's like the one who's like been screwing over the honest, good scientists all the time. He eventually like eats it later in the movie he proves himself like Okay, yeah, all right, he's got his own agenda. Yeah, my reason to go to
the core research? Right, it's fighting over research, is it. Aaron Eckhart waits the main dude scientist before Aaron Eckhart was like named good. And they find some guy who was just building a giant drill bust that would go to the center of the Earth. Walking through his I can't remember what the That's actually the first movie that I ever heard anyone use unobtainium, So so
fuck you. The Core Avatar is all your faults. And that movie really yeah, they talk about something like the like the ship that they need to make to drill into the centlar center of the Earth being made out of unobtain That was a good It's a dumb fucking movie. That was a great span of years when you just you just knew another disaster movie was coming to Dante's Peak. The Core, The Inferno, The Apocalypse, Volcano. I recent, like I'll say recently last year watched that's a bad, bad movie.
Is that not even a volcano? Yes? And then also having lived on the block where like the volcano, like the lava is or is it magma? I always gonna mixed up. Well, it's above it's it's a volcano. Okay, wait what voc lava? Once it's outside of the volcano, all right, uh, and it's going down wilsh your boulevard. But that movie, they Volcano solves racism, Yeah, because they have all the ash on them and just everyone becomes white. No one could tell the difference.
So it's the movies The movie's tale is if everyone was just white, there'd be no racism. True, Thanks Volcano, Thanks TOMMYY. Jones and and hate gross. Tommy Jones is in the movie Netflix, Innocent. What's the other? What's the other? Volcano? Movie? All? Right? Another? It wasn't the apparent is volcano? Then it was volcano and that is peak was Pierce Brosin, right, Yeah, Chris Brosen and Linda Hamilton. Yeah, and then arm again and then Deep Impacts and the Core I thought
had another one, but I don't. Two three hours later and that's all of the movies that we know the titles of. Yeah, wait, wait wait two thousand, the biggest disaster season. Jesus Christ had a great and six four game though, yeah, stupid disaster after Tomorrow that was kind of late. Well, at some point they just stopped him, like rolling Emerick. That just became his day and all he did, like Dean what's his face? His writing partner down in the end after Godzilla was a big cluster
fuck. They broke up after that. So did you play any games? Play a lot of sky Room for like twenty five thirty hours of skye Katie was gone this weekend so I started to I started to get this feeling like five don't really start plowing. Like playing skyrom like one or two hours a night even over the course of the week just doesn't add up enough. And like even though January is pretty sparse, it's like, I really need to just put this behind these as much as I can. Starts creeping up on
you. Yeah, like it now I think I'm eighty hours in. Uh, the end is in sight. Like the decision will be like do I want to be like Vinny and like go really see everything or like in the next ten hours, I'll like have finished all the mainline quests and I can probably do all the achievements, like another ten hours after that, it's like
I could finish it because evenly in the next couple of weeks. But yeah, as we went again like this dark like you know, I've been living with Katie for like five years, and it's just like what happens when she just disappears and I don't, like no one says like, hey, you should go, you should like go get launched somewhere. You're saying, like don't, what is it? What does your self care look like? Forgotten?
I've like forgotten like I have learned. I've grown a new appreciation from my relationship and I like and I think a part of that is just that she hasn't traveled a lot in the last couple of years, so like I just haven't an opportunities where like I can just like dig real deep and go to a dark place again. Like luckily, I have keep that I have to, like at some point, that's the contact responsible. You see this shirt, I'm gonna pee on it. It's all right, I guess I'll
go on the block for you. It's like I have to keep this other thing alive, have something dependent that's like that's harder to keep alive than I am. So part of it, I blame her part of it because like she knows that I will eat very poorly. Uh, every in the office knows, like I usually she makes She's a wonderful cook. She's all these great meals for me. She also knows that, like, and I'll do this just despite her. Sometimes I'll just eat real bad when she's gone.
Center's pictures of like ah, like I'm just getting the channel just she's as McDonald makes you all these nice meals. So before she leaves she will, like she will make all of these meals and put them in like the freeze, actually make soups and like meatballs and stuff like this so that I will eat somewhat. Well, it's what, it's wonderful, wonderful. Here's what
you do. You take all that food, you just bring it in and give it to us, and then will send her pictures of us eating that stuff, like you're stres of you, just like look at all this popcorn,
chicken, but the things. She hasn't realized that because she's made all this food, I have even less reason to leave the house because at least at least to go get terrible food, like I have to go for order, like have some sort of dialogue with like another human being, and like instead she's like us because I don't even have to turn on the oven. Like these meatballs I could eat three times today and then probably still be pretty good. So she opens the door and comes home. There's like an air
lock sound, just fresh air. It's been like three hours cleaning the place. Your dog is just a skeleton in three days, but still standing. Somehow, these meatballs all over the ground. Somehow there's a piano stuck in a chimney. I don't even have a piano or a chimney or a chimney. I don't know where I got it. There's a nuclear missile coming up through the bottom of the floor. So Patrick, there's some some serious business that I wanted to talk about it. We've been playing some credit trigger we
have during the actually we beat Lavos. Maybe we have I hope we did recorded before we've we've this is a cord floor but goes up after. Maybe we'll see what the timing is. But this is definitely recorded before we take our final charge or what we believe to be our finals. I've seen a lot of people saying no fucking way, or they're gonna do this today. I have also, I have also, but equally people saying, no, you you're good, you have ultimate damage. Yeah, you've got the abilities
that you need. Sure Ryan keeps attacking instead of waiting. Yeah, and you'll be all right. Yeah. Uh, it's still I'm still super nerves about it. We're gonna do it live, We're gonna try and take take a take a charge. I suggested that idea. I saw a ping of fear go into you, of having Well, that's a good idea. That is a good idea. I don't know if we should do that. Well. The problem is, like I I don't have a great sense of really how far we are. Like it's it's we can only strict in a way.
As it's sort of like there's a character that says to you, and it's in so many words, Hey, if you're ready to finish the game, go to one of these things and that'll start the end of the game, or you can keep sucking around out here take on these side quests. And we pretty much rung out all the side quests that we could. There's one that we just couldn't decode what the starting point was. So in my as I've been like people have been like in induating this with us, like
comments about us finishing it. That is a mistranslation. It's not a side it is all all he is that lie I always think there is someone close to you. That is just the last line he says before he outlines all the side quests. He's just saying, every character has a side quest you need to go on. Okay, got it, And it's just I see what you mean. Yeah, weir than version apparently, which is translated it's not that way. Okay, Well, it's just weird then that it doesn't
disappear after you're done with all the side quests. Yeah, because if that, if that's sort of what that's, then we would have probably but you know, we people have said, like, hey, you guys beat all of the side quest bosses. Uh, so you should. I think that's pretty pretty should be. We've done. We've done as much as like we've seen all of the game. We've got some badass stuff. Our guys are
leveled up nicely. Uh. I mean, this is a game that's meant to be, like theoretic, like it's not long because it's I think it has you know, some something like a dozen endings, like it's meant to be played again. And even from right here, I can see where those
dozen endings are. We should grab like every iMac and Macmanie and the office and put the stream on like the chat and put like text the speech on and put them in the same room with you so that you just have computer put them, put them in this room, and then put each of them on a mic and then stream that out on the other stream of the chat screen. We can hear what they sound like shouting about a video game over the internet. It'll be way worse doing it alive, because people will somehow
think that they can tell you what to do. As if you are at that chat, you know, that's just an alternate stream hear what you tell I'll look at that chat and you'll say something that like, oh, that seems like it'd be useful advice, and I will look at it. And last I'm not telling them that. That was the fear. I honestly, it was like I wasn't sure how far we were from the actual end. See, it seems like this the game at this point telling you you go
to this, you have started down that final dungeon road. There was no return once you've gotten some little bit into that dungeon. But we've got ourselves a lot of time to hopefully rock this out. So yeah, we'll see what happens. I'm it's it's still a wonderful game. Yeah, I'm still
it's amazing. How you know, it's really interesting to see how game design philosophy has changed, how much the hand holding we like when you play some of these games, it becomes so apparent like what has changed, and just fundamental game design in terms of how you lead people to content, Like there was so much of this game that, like even the hints we've seen from people when they screaming us for what we haven't done or haven't seen, like
how much it just is not apparent. And yeah, sometimes we aren't paying that much attention and stuff like that. That's certainly a valid criticism, But we're just playing to have fun. And I think people forget what it's like when you played this when you were like the first time and you're just fuxing
around. You're not and you're right about seeing everything to it. Yeah, and but it's it's just really interesting, even from an RPG context, like how things have changed, and it's sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worst. Like there's definitely some missions where it's like, oh, I I've never would have figured this out. I literally like that is such an obscure. At some point, your brain has just been rewired by the way games
are now that you know it's it's hard to retrain yourself. I don't know what I would have gotten it. Then you know it's it's I think you know there was a certain way you play a games, especially the jerpg's back then, like a lot of the conventions that you know, you're talking about Skyrim, like everything is very guided, like you're it's open ended in terms of how you get to things, but at the end of the day,
there's always an arrow and there. You know, Corona Trigger and Ali j airpgs relied on you're talking to everyone and the clues were embedded in that was a convention of that genre. Is you talk to everyone a million times? Yeah, that's what you spent a third of your game doing and you just don't do that anymore. Well, it's it's interesting. Well, I think the difference is, like you can still go to and talk to fucking every resident Skyrom if you want to, but the game will in the game will
let you do that, but it's only for color. The difference is that it will make sure that you know that when a piece of information is being given that it's significance, well you'll update something or or even just like, hey, this is this is this is real stuff here that you need to be this is this is kind of like the next leg and the thing. Whereas anything in Chronic and Corona Trigger could have been just a throwaway line,
was that Coron Across that's a whole separate. That's the next one, you guys, just rolling right into that, just gonna roll straight into cron Across. No, I've never played. It's not very good. Ten out of ten. It's here, it's a perfect game. Here's perfect. Oh, I don't hear it's good. It's not here. It's perfect you mean prime? Yeah, whatever that's you are, I am it's true. Uh, it's better than saying perfect. No, I know it's perfect. It's not
good. There were there were other games of that. Are they hand all that stuff differently? Like when you played Linked the Past like it bolded important stuff, so that even if you were just like remember I hit AA. But my thing is is the scheme doesn't do anything. It is the combat. Like that's that's what this like. The story, the quality of storytelling. And there's there's some good stuff there in characterizations for a time travel story.
You know, to see there are weird you know, paradoxes that occur that they just like Bobo just farming in the past. Yeah, even though in no other instance do you encounter other versions of yourself. Even though it's implied by Bobo staying in the past that that should be totally a thing that happens it, which would have been fun. I would have enjoyed that. But I really enjoyed the combat in that game. I think they like that's
that's the part for me that active or yes, it was. It was if we were going to play this game and uh, and Ryan has struggled it because it is so different than how you play any of these other types of games where you you can't sit and think about it too long, like you're gonna be punished for thinking too long. But it is just gonna do
it is part of what makes Chrono Cheger. Chrono Cheger is the active, but but it's still requires it still requires you to be as strategic with like what you're like how you're approaching these fights, at least in some of the bigger ones. Yeah, it makes it really tough. If you're getting boned early on, you're like, I got to I have to reformulate. You don't have time to think about you can't just like sit and talk about it. And you've got a ton of potential party members that you can load up
with stuff. And it was also a crazy lute. There's a there's a lot, a lot to that stuff and I really have enjoyed that, I think the most of all. And just it's the music is fucking fantastic. I've had Corona Trigger music just stuck in my brain. But her Man ain't over yet. Nope, an't over yet. An't over yet. It's not over s s Sex Sex Patrick Club like anything else on. I started playing minis Cap because I finished part of your lot of a lot of football games,
so other things to do. I'm playing a minis cap and I think it's the game is real, Nate go Los Angeles Galaxy. Yeah, soccer right all the way. I don't know anything about soccer. It's football. Oh oh, you're right, team you know what talks about? I'm sorry. Continue, Yeah, I don't know, like an hour, but it's I'd never play any of the GBA. Uh, well you think of it so far, it's pretty well. That's a pretty well regarded I think it
is the most well regarded Zelda game. The Oracle of Ages and Seasons are also liked, but yeah, the minis Cap is the best of the When read my review of Minishcap recently, because I don't remember a damn thing about that game, impactful, Yeah, cat the cat makes you small and now I don't remember what the review said. So it's great. Yeah, endless
cycle of forgetting shit about games. It's actually kind of interesting. Uh. It does some impressive things if you think about it in the context of the GBA, Like one of the dungeons, there's like this log that you go into and as you if you walk up and down it like it's actually like the log is scaling and rotating, and it's not impressive in modern games. But if you're thinking, like this is a GBA game, especially when I booted the game and it was all stretched out and I was like, well,
maybe I want to play this in native restrant. You don't want to play that native resolution it is it's like one sixty buy something something. I don't know. It's it's tiny small, It is tiny, and you don't want to play, which why some of those GBA games I don't feel necessarily
translate. It just seems like a dumb option. It's there for for crazy purists, but it's also I think also it's great that it's there so that when you look at you're like, I know, I don't ye like, because if the option wasn't there, you have plenty of people sending the screen. You have plenty people say micro out. Yeah, that is probably the better way to plenty of these. The micro was a wastability. That was. Yes, it still is a cool it's a cool device. It's a
cool it's a cool thing. That is so stupid. Yeah, but fuck that. Just go get your GBA SP because that thing is still goddamn I know I know where that is. I don't know where my three DS is right now, I know where my GPS, your SP because that thing was so goddamn good. Also there it is on top of another GBASP, just stacking them up. Huh. I love that thing. Yeah, I actually was. Yeah, that was that was cool. Those those ones are the
thing. The thing is the basis for everything they've done with the DS. Yeah, yeah, but it was. It was still small enough to like fit in a pocket or something, and the screen was sizable. It was a big The problem with the Micro is it was awesome, but it's just not practical. I played through all the final plays four on the Micro. That was just and I was just about to say I RPG on there,
but it did well. I mean, yeah, it's tiny, but the pixel density is so high that if you hold it right up to your face and still it still looks good at that point that you then just justb Micro up in the grill. That's what I was doing with my Pokemon Mini, playing some Pokemon Mini pinball, you know, straight up in your face. YEA seventy paper clips, right, there was the It wasn't that the first advice that Reggie pulled out of his coat. Yeah, I think that was
the first press conference after I think he had joined the Micro one. Yeah, sure was. The Micro was the the Pokemon I guess the POKEMONNI was before his time was Micro. I remember the Micro very the Micro come out because the deal was already out when he came on board. So there was yeah, there was. There was. There was the press the press commence where Mumado came out with the shield and stuff, and I think that was the same one that was I think, and then it was the first time
they were talking about we stuff. That's why the announced like Metroid Prime three. Yeah, corruption right, that's what we want to call them. Uh, but it was just like a teaser and yeah, I think I remember. I can visualize where this was. I think it was at the Kodak Theater, but not in like the big theater. It was like in one of their rooms or something like that. I remember him pulling the micro out, but yeah, I think it was after the DS was it was definitely
well on its way, the last hurrah for that. Yeah, I remember when the when the micro was announced, it was it was at E three and whatever, right game was coming back. Yeah. I just remember the frantic hunt on our last day in Tokyo trying to find the Famicom style Gameboy microst because at the time it seemed like it was sidn't seemed like it wasn't coming out here. Yeah, why would they bringing out here? It's the Famacom style one. That doesn't make sense to bring it out here. And
also they became really hard to find. I remember we saw a bunch of them and went like we should get one of those whatever, and then supplied dried up and it became like we need one of those, like while you were there, yeah, yeah, and it just became like we finally found a department store that had him, and just got to the Giant you got to busch your camera didn't have them there. Everyone was out. It was
some random little store. Yeah, it was random store went out and had a few of the gun and picked one up, and then they bought brought the damn thing out here. Yeah, and then they brought up totally for no good reason. And then they do that. And then I went and bought a replacement phase plate from Nintendo that was not the Family Coom style and put it on there nice, but it didn't even look like Family Com anymore.
I recently found a sealed you know they put the tape on the bags when you buy something that's the play They put it in the plastic bag and they put the tape over the plastic bag to sealed. Found a sealed plastic bag Pokemon Center Tokyo with a Pokemon Center Edition game Boy Colorow's still in the box because I bought it thinking like this is my sorry, this would be great, all play all my game book, and and then it just became like why would all right, I already have one of these, like this
is I'm not gonna open this up. I think I've been carried around. Also, portable games are stupid. I'll just throw this in my closet. I've just been sitting in the bag still ever since. Uh, I think that's worth the money. I don't know, probably not right. Maybe they're a head bit of time, but I feel like they've released yeah, and then they've released a bunch of Pokemon Center Edition stuff here. Yeah, I
have a Pokemon Center Edition game Boy Advance. I thought had a fucking Kaby Toys and I bought a replacement screen cover from the pulled the Pokemon stuff off of if you had if you had the right it was actually like the what do you call it, per lesson, like purple Isha, I've got the gold one. Yeah, if you had not opened the bag and sold it on eBay, just saying I, I don't know a person found this bag,
like I found this bag factory sealed, sealed. I know what's inside because I bought it, and and it's it's just tape over it seem kind of looking and see what's in there. It's not. It's not a mystery fact. Factory sealed, store sealed. Yeah, factory sealed, store sealed. Receipt is probably still in shopping bag. Yeah. I needed I needed a device. I had my Game Boy Advanced had gotten stolen, and I needed a device with which to scan E reader cards before two yeah, Animal
Crossing. I also found my e reader and the zip block bag full of e reader cards. I know, I know exactly where all of my e reader ship is. So if you ever want to scan my Tyson's punch out into Animal Crossing, no thanks, what a weird It was a weird thing. I still have all the rappers for the cards, Like I opened it up, took the cards out, and then put them back in the actual packs. That the cards real stupid. Yeah, in sword DLC. I want to I almost want to just go almost load up my uh my old
Animal Crossing sac almost see how my town looks. It's been a while. You think there's some grass on that asteroid? Yeah, definitely. Well, you know they say, if there's grass on the asteroid's swing away, it's right smoking, blow it up. That's what Steven Tyler says on American Idol every week. Every week, it's just catch phrase, did you guys watch this? Give your fingers on the pulse of popular culture? Come on, it's dead watching American Idol ear on the chest of American culture. It's how
dedicated I am to American culture. Fair enough, Jeff, what's going on? Hey? Hey? Track Mania two is awesome. I have I've updated the loading screen so that it is a picture of Spot. First it was a picture of Spot leaning on a car, and I said, these tracks are highly illogical. And then someone made one of those in a Saints Row the third mission completion style that is a you know, kind of a purple Spock and a car. I got some of that purple spot. Yeah,
he's got all that purple spot. Go down a hundred point pick up some purple spots. Yeah, don't don't that will it is? That ship is totally crippler. Stay away from it. With Blue Ivy. It is not a creeper. It is. It is kind of creepler. It'll creeple up on. I hate a kreepler. What were we talking about? Get now, I'm paint thinner. No, that shit's honey uh. And then the merle bag of this, the murliest swirl around the paint thinner and smell it
pictures. It's still good, It's still good. Still send it back, send it back back, too good, too good, and that real rotten ship. And then fittingly, I played a bunch of Star Trek online because you know, the weather was bad and I didn't want to go anywhere. And it was one of those things where the weather, because of the weather, because beach time exactly parasailing, my plans got canceled. So instead I played a whole bunch of Star Trek online because it's one level of Star Trek
are U. Now I am now a commander. I went through lieutenant commander and lieutenant and now I'm yes, a lieutenant commander and now I'm a full on commander, which means I'm like level thirty one. Yeah that's pretty much show. Yeah, pretty much going boldly a couple of seasons. Yeah, we're in. You know, it's like, who plays your captain? Passed the first? My captain is the is the borg that has been detached from the collective named four of twenty. Very very well done, thank you,
But who is right? Good piece of work in the series. He he he looks Riker esque only with with chrome eyes. Got a robot beard. No, it is a it is a human beard. They don't have robot beards in that game. But he's a he's a he's a robot man with a beard. No, he actually just he doesn't have any of the robot ship on. You can opt to put that on there, but he just looks like a dude with the habits to have chrome eyes. Wow. Yeah, if you you can pick Borg and not make him borger, like if
you want, yeah, yeah, this stuff removed? Yeah, okay, and provided they provide a text field if you want to write backstory about your character that other characters can see. Okay, yes, right, probably bobabs Penis. Yeah, you got me. I guess it's my backstory's four of twenties backstory. I'd say that sounds extremely accurate appropriate. Yeah, yeah, that's that game is really good to play while you're doing something else, Like,
it's really easy to do other stuff while that game is running. Like I'm on the laptop typing this stuff up, getting some getting some important stuff done. But over here, I'm in space. Over here, we're firing photon torpedo. Here, you're half paying attention to being in space. Yeah, and half paying attention has made me a commander so great? I feeling about your your lifetime? What's that? What dividends are those? Uh?
Pan out tea. At this point, I get it, you know, for being a veteran for over seven hundred days, I now get like a five percent crew bonus or something and a bunch of other But do you think that that is the perks for paying them are not outstanding? Do you think that that's contributing to the speed of your your leveling? He know, no, it's not. You can actually you can spend real money to get double XP for set amounts of time if if that's the route you want to go.
It's not answer my call duty points. Yeah, you've already spent real money. Yeah, exactly, it's it's it's interesting because there's a bunch of stuff in their store, like ships that are slightly better than the ships you will get that They're like, this is going to cost you six dollars to
use this ship that you will that will be obsolete in ten levels. So I bought a ship, and because I had most of the points already, because I guess you get you get a setup set amount of points to use this currency every thirty days if you are paying them or are a lifetime member. But I didn't have quite enough, so I actually ended up putting slightly more money. So if if you had, if you had talllied up, how much it would have cost you for the time that it was a subscription
based service. Would you have met your lifetime Okay, yeah, so if I've been paying this whole time, it actually happened a while ago, like the tipping point for for me, so it's basically free money. Basically they pay, they're paying me to play the game. At this point, it's working out great. Yeah, you're making money. Yeah, exactly, Yeah, totally. I got all this refined dilithium. I'm not sure what that's used for, but I got a bunch of it now, So that's cool.
To make that purple spot. Yeah, get all that purple spot and I'm played a bunch of user created missions. You have user creation so you can actually like make your own missions that it's right in the game. You just say, like instead of launch character, it's launched content creator. And how did is it? Is this kind of like Infamous Too, or like where you just like flip a switch and all of a sudden you can see the user stuff or is it properly integrated alongside the it's when you made it's
it's integrat alongside the cryptic stuff. Like it's it's not like right click on stuff in the world. It's more like you bring up a window and you can sort through all the user created stuff by like user rating or or you know what type emission. You know, there's some some kind of keywords. I guess you can probably use to search for that stuff. But yeah, it'll just show you the highly the most highly rated user content by default, and any good it's okay, type all you type all your own dialogue.
So it's kind of like it's what you make of it. So's so, is there a voting down or is it vetting? Like if I just put like, you know, so there's a get that fucking dialithium? Is it gonna make it? I think there's a So there's there's there's By default, there is a filter that only shows you things that have been reviewed a number of times by other players. Okay, if you opt to become a reviewer, then there's another tab that becomes enabled that then shows you uh more freewheeling
content. Let's say that has not met the criteria yet to move into the other stuff. It's not necessarily blue, but it just hasn't been processed yet. Yeah, exactly, it's you know, it could be garbage, could be broken. It's hard to say. Does any of it exist purely for the purpose of getting you stuff, like can can they exploit the games sort
of? Well, so what there is is there's a daily quest for completing three user created missions, and as a result, there are a bunch of missions in there that, yeah, so you know, because incentivizes you to try it out, and you know, it prevents you from abusing it by just doing it over and over it again in the context of one day. So they know, even if you go do this every day, you're only
going to get so much of this stuff. So they've got missions in there that are just like, right click on this thing to win and it completes
the mission, but you don't really get anything for completing that mission. They can't just say, like you get a trially an XP, because like a lot of the experience points are based on combat and completing missions, and I think that they don't let you get stuff for completing user missions, see just for completing this daily quest that you know, for for doing three of the
user missions. So even if you just pick three of the right click on this thing to win things, you're only getting so much stuff and you can
only do it. They're not setting loot or anything like that, and that's still randomized you're placing things, and that that mission could give you plot, but there's no guarantees, there's no way for them to stack the deck and right I was just curious because speaking of Infamous, like all of the top rated missions in that game, nothing but easy Trophy number one, Easy Planet
was kind of the same way. I think that's that's probably less now than it was around launch because people probably have already gotten all those trophies at this point. But but yeah, so there are some highly rated ones that are just like right click on this terminal to complete this mission and then play the other two. I created to do your threes for the day, your three
for the daily. So I played through one where there was a broken Holid deck and it was the Daughter of Barkley Man that someone had written, and you go through and there's just like walls appearing and disappearing, and there's rogue programs in the Holid deck and at some point you are fighting a bunch of giant ships and it's actually like a decently well written thing that it's kind of cool. At one point you're on the bridge of the Enterprise D and like
a bunch of such silly star Trek jokes. Yeah, yeah, it looks like that bridge that's one of the environments that's in the game, and you know it's not you're not creating assets. I have a hard time believing that Lieutenant Barkley ever got a woman that's still loves sop with her at the end of the quest. The question becomes is she real part of the Holidack program, because that's more likely that he was pretty good done that you would have
created a fake daughter. Yeah. Yeah, So what I'm saying is it's it's yeah, some of that stuff is pretty good. Questions saying you love Star Trek fan fiction, Yeah, it's basically what I'm saying. Interactive I love interactive fiction Star Trek fan fiction. I've not seen any any slash in there at all. Four Slash twenty Yeah, it's too bad. It's really the heart of it all right there. Yeah, yeah exactly, So like
where's my ks I talk about your dark hearts. That's it right there, that's the u of slashing all the look maybe there is that sounds interesting with these are created. Yeah, at one point you're like, man, how much does it suck that they are just needed more content so badly? That they opened up the gates and said, like, you guys make it, but now that's a free to play game. Maybe that's a little less crazy, and it's kind of cool that people are able to fuck around with that
stuff. It gives the game a an interesting feel, and some of the quests that they wrote for the game kind of have the same feel too, where it's like you get the impression that there are dudes there that want to do grander things than the game was built to allow. So, I mean, if you're talking about with like walls disappearing in like the holiday sequence sounds.
There was another mission I played where you actually had to die to continue it because they had created a time loop so that you would die, come back up and say, like our scanners say that we're back in time before this whole thing started. Yeah, so you go through this thing like three times before you figure out what you need to do to actually stop time from
repeating again. It is a Star Trek episode. It is like a pretty well written thing, but I managed to break the scripting because the guys I was supposed to die to actually beat. Like at some point the guy was like this is overwhelming. Odds, there's no way you're gonna survive, Like
no, I fucking crushed them. So I just like was sitting there going like, I don't know what, it's broken, doesn't continue, and then reloaded it and figured, well, the way this is written makes it sound like maybe you need to die, and sure enough, that's that's what moved it forward. So there's people like kind of coming up with innovative things that
you know, the engine and the game wasn't necessarily designed to do. That makes it feel like latter day Fantasy Star Online, where just Sega was just like, I don't know, man, let's pump it full of all these weird downloadable quests that are clearly reusing assets and we can't make new ship for it, so it's just gonna be look kind of janky and broken, but whatever, it'll be crazy and it's kind of cool all round. Retcha maker putting his headphones back on. Hi, how's it going better? I can
hear again? Good? Yeah, a good playoff beard going on? There? Is it starting to? Is it that far? Getting there? Like a week? I'd say you're pretty close, like a week's worth, say, I'd say you're less than a week away from graduating to fewon beard. It's getting it's getting to the ischy stage. So you're right, needs to go. It's so much great in it. Anyway, we's been planning,
dude. Uh let's see, still making my way through push Moo as my warning bus ride allowed allows how far I just got to the point where I can scan in the more complicated user made stuff. Did you guys try to scan stuff before you had gotten Yeah, And it was in the quick look and it's like, yeah, you haven't unlocked this tool set. I felt. I felt like I kind of understand Skylanders now when I started scanning levels in. Yeah, like there's a little bit of that magical element of this
thing in the real world is in the game. Yeah. Like I was sitting there on like form thread just like scanning QR codes in and they were they were scanning, Like that's that's the revelation, is like I have found a decent, cool use for QA, Like they're coming back. Yeah, it's kind of a disappointing that they get your access to that some of that. Yeah, but at the same time, like you probably aren't gonna be
ready to take on a puzzle that large until you've played enough. Yeah, so I've just gotten to that point where like they're the super complex, like
you know, one hundred piece puzzles and stuff are in there. That stuff can get a little exhausting, Yeah, especially the ones where largely those using made puzzles are not They're not like the Nintendo puzzles where like they have structured it's just like recreating different graphics, right, And a lot of those aren't necessarily good puzzles, right, Like they're kind of fun to dick around with it, like climbing up like you know, nest solid snake isn't necessarily fun.
It's just kind of neat, right, and if you get stuck, it's like, well whatever, I it's it's not a real puzzle. I kind of I kind of scanned most of those in just to have like the pixel art and like the stuff. I don't really want to play those levels. But so they're just like using the color coding on the blocks themselves, like create kind of a side mirrors literally like dot for dot recreations in anything
that was not as advertised. Have you you countered anything where the image I haven't straight out of like safe zones though, I hit our thread and then there's a thread on yoga that I checked out. It's just I mean, you'd have to photoshop that stuff exactly like the ones that spits out, and I hope would be like you would see like, oh, look at this, it's a picture of tur rock, and then you scan it in and it totally I'm surprised. No one when we did that quick look and you
said that, it was like, it's you ruined it. That was hoping, and we would check back in like a little while later and it would just be like, Oh, it's all fun. Now that's the real dinosaur hunter. Yeah. I love I love the warning they give you when you first go to the pushmost studio. It's like, you can make your own levels and make your codes. Please don't make codes out of anything that would transmit personal information or calls offense. Right, it's a disturb the neighbors police
it like that. That's true. I'm just gonna put my social Security number on there. But at some point, at some point you realize it, like, man, this would be so much faster if they just like sorted all the stuff online. Yeah, let you just tap on the stuff you want to. But it is neat, Yeah, especially when the little like push mentor dude pops up, just like the voice effects on that, like
every time you every time you scan up. I just want to hear that over and over and then he's so disappointed when when you get one that you don't have access to a lot of people know this. That was heavily voice modified, but the core all right, So Internet, get out there and be the Internet. Stop not being the Internet down. Make some dirty stuff for push mouth and mask it. It's not enough to make it dirty stuff. The Moto shopping image, it's not. Yeah, the amount of duplicity
required to make a fake image. I would have just expected there to be a full thread somewhere, you know, And I guess it's at some point it's those threads are being policed to the point where you know people aren't going to let that happen. But I just figured it would just be a page of just like you know, that's every single image on this page as a pixel art Rick Astley, except for this one, which is a picture of our rock Hard raging boner. Yeah. Rick Astley's Ricks's rock Hard. That's
the name of his new band. That one's as advertising. Yeah, I was looking for that, right, yeah, and that will let you down. Did you guys finish that games? Anybody doing all the puzzles? I need I need to get back to it. How far in? Did uh? Five worlds? Okay? So I did go ab ABCD or one two, three, five? I can. Well, let's mix up weirdly because it's like some of them are called like challenges and some of them are mosaics
and yeah, art and stuff like that. I say, when I had to World four or five before, I had to replay the first like four worlds for the quick look, and just I was, I was pushed mode out. Yeah. I also, you also don't have a commune. It's pretty to like those things get so big that you can't You can't tackle the puzzles whole cloth anymore. You have to like break them up into each little section is its own goal. It's like, all right, if I can get up this high, but I can pull that one out all the way
and kind of start fresh from there. I'm sure that rend mechanic is like crucial because you don't really use it during the early stuff, but imagine went to you to this bigger stage using it pretty much constantly as would just you would lose so much time. I think I'm like three worlds from the end now, so like they're so overwhelming that, yeah, you use that stuff constantly. But h and that game is great. Yep, get that game. If you have a thing push mo, yeah, or's it's called something
else in Europe someone someone, I forget what who? Yes, people saying they couldn't find it, but yeah, it's push them in American Japan, but it's a pull box over there. The Dolph one Gored movie I Come in Peace was released internationally as Dark Angel. Fun fact. For years, I've been trying to find a DVD copy of I Come in Peace. You guys ever seeing I Coome in Peace? Yeah? It sucking. It's so but awesome. Alien drug dealer comes to Earth and sucks adrenaline out of people's
fucking heads or human drugs. It's for aliens they're gonna use like it's that is the drug of choice on human adrenaline. Yes, just adrenaline. Yeah, So they're going going, he's going and scaring the shit at people. He's got this device on his arm that fucking it's like a tube that flies out and attaches to the person's head. Even though that's not where the you know, for middle is not where the adrenal gland is, but that's where he gets it. He also has a little risk mini disc launcher. Is
that scared people? Well it is there. Little mini discs are like super razor sharp, so they puck you up. When did this come out? Nineteen ninety? It also stars Really that's when he was he was like still kind of to be taken seriously at that point he was an action star. He was he was. He was a solid b great action But I don't know if you saw the same articles I did recently about him, but like I didn't realize what his story direct video career he's had. Yeah, yeah,
well that stuff like his early like the MIT. Yeah, there's also he's like super duper Rhodes scholar and all this other weird shit like he's he's a bizarre story. Friend, how we can get adrenaline out of your forehead? Man? That's not him. That was daily. Brian ben Ben starved the HBO series dream on Is in this he plays a supporting role. Also his his window of opportunity. Yeah, exactly, he was right there. Do you know that there was a Brian ben Ben show like after dream On
ended, someone gave him like a fucking like a shop show. I don't know what it was. Also, how much unity was in it, how much nudity was in it? Probably not enough. That's why Steven Tyler did That's all you wanted from That's why you watched dream On is maybe there'll be nudity in this episode, right, And then there was yeah, you're like, man, it's great and Steven Tyler I got in, dude in the cancer fantastic. There's never enough nunity and dream On though. No, it
was never just changed channel, go to Cinemax. Yep, you get more, it's more efficient. Cinema was not available in our area, I think for for a good long time. We we got for a while, I was just HBO show Time. Then I was like, no, you get the movie channel. Yeah, all right, we had HBO in the movie channel. That was I think Ritchhew Diaries on the show Time. Yeah, I think so. Do you know Retchew Diaries this right now? And I
never Hadicionados. I was too busy watching Taxi Cab Confessions and Real Sex Too, and The Standling Show Gary Standling. Yes, there was a bug on the boxes that if you hit four buttons at the same time, the box would shut off, and then if you punched in the HBO channel, that would come on and you could just watch it. I don't know that. Yeah, that's awesome. And we had we had two down. We can
get Playboy, but scrambled. Yeah, we didn't even get played. You have like you have like a friend like bend in the cable, like better stand there standing on the on the box, you know, you know the box that's on the cord right you're sitting your lap, have to change the channels that was hardwired to the cable receiver. Well, if we ended up breaking the cable one of the cable boxes because my dad used a screwdriver head to push one of the buttons down and it pushed a button in permanently to
take it back. It was this one of those dope little like brown bottle out of me. I was like a membrane. Yeah, buttons that were really crappy and uh so you know, naturally one of them broke when you took it back in. I think they we're only going to the phone, you know what you're doing. I really wanted to go channel up. Yeah, anything else, but he's an adult, so he's gonna go in there and do that. And it's just like, what are you talking about my
kids? Kids? Yeah, my kid dropped a bowling ball on it. You know whatever. Yeah, exactly, that's not your place. I played a bunch of sky room. I don't think we want to tredge the little thing up again. Any any highlights? Uh not really except that, Uh do you the speech exploit? No? I was looking for that guy last night. I couldn't. You said it was a dark elf right and no, there's exploit. I don't know if you guys know what is this like?
You can very quickly get your speech up to one hundred guy just talking to this guy over and over and over. If you got a rift in and the Bryant Blackbriar Metery, it's the guy who's just to the counter. If you if you basically like when you're trying to get I think information about Maven, at some point you don't have to do this. And if you, if you've done it where you've persuaded him, you lose the opportunity to
do this. But if you go up to him and you bribe him, it's like three hundred gold he tells you whatever information you're looking for, But that dialogue gets stuck in like the conversation tree, and because you've bribed him, the game in the back end marks that as a success. So when you go in to persuade, it's already assumed you've done it, so it just keeps marking it as a success. And the tree never goes away.
And also the arrow doesn't move. So I was watching the forty nine ers game, switch the TV, then just kept hitting ay and then came back fifteen minutes later on and I've gone from fifty two to one hundred. And you only have to bribe once, right, Yeah, well you have to bribe because that's I think. Otherwise it doesn't it will disappear. Oh it's you. You're bribing every time that you do it. You bribe, and then that keep that's part of the glitch. Okay, that keeps in.
You stay within that conversation. You bribe, then that sticks it in. Then you do the persuade apption. You're not losing a bunch of gold to do this. No no, no, no, no, yeah, I gotta go to that. I may have already done that. It's uh, it's yeah, it's it's it's a little cheaper than the I think it's no worse than some of the other exploits done, like my you know, blacksmithing up to uh two hundred player game, Like who are you hurting? Yeah
exactly, yeah, I uh children everywhere, Yes, clearly. Yeah, there's the land they just announced. They just announced this new Dead Island DLC. So I threw on Dead Island to try to remember how to play Dead Island again. Found that right, stick around a lot and found that they had patched out the item dow backs, and then turned off Dead Island. I mean, I guess it's co op game. Like maybe there's more of an argument we've made there, for they're bugs in a game, they should
fix the bugs. Like that's that was a pretty awesome though, it's all it's it like sold some of the monotony of having to go and fetch whatever weapon you really like. Yeah, like instead of having to go repair weapons, I would just dupe them before they broke and keep going. So what you're saying is that game is not very good. That game is pretty good because there's some stuff about the only reason you enjoyed it to be circumvent a
big house. I played through most of the game. Not no one about that, right, Like I just toward the end like i'd started messing around with it. But anyway, so this is this is victims crime is what I'm trying to say. Yeah, alright, okay, the only person you're robbing, Brad, Yeah, me, it's yourself. Cool, Okay, I'm good. Well, then I hit after eighty five hours, I hit the first like major progress stopping bug in Skyrim, which is uh, the
second to last companions quest. If you have so, it sends you to a certain dungeon, but if there's also a miscellaneous objective that can send you to the same one, And if you have that objective in your log but you have not done it yet, then it won't trigger the Companion's quest to go to the same place. Oh really Yeah? And then I had I had like I didn't know that that was happening. I was like, well, where's the next quest? What I'm supposed to do? I'll just come
back later. So then I went into like two hours of other stuff and then read about that online. I was like fuck, so that I had to scuttle all the stuff I had done I found having a laptop near me when I'm playing sky Rim too, just instead of trying to figure out weirdness is just to see it helps. Are other people? Am I alone in this? And then and then it's like game pretty much. Just google the name of the quest and sky them. You're gonna find fills for the rest
of them. For what it's worth. The one point four patch, like they put out the patch notes and it's just like like thirty quests on this list of stuff that. Yeah, stuff wasn't happening till this month. They they fixed that one in this patch. Yeah, you can opt into the patch seam the beta patches out on Steam now. Yeah, so probably consoles before it. I didn't want to wait, so I just The other weird thing was, so if you had that objective and had not gone and done
it, it would not trigger the quest. But if you had cleared that dungeon where it says cleared on the map, also would not trigger the question. The solution was to go there and drink all of my invisibility potions getting in that place and getting the helmet out, which was the objectives, without
actually killing anybody. And so I went. I went and I was like turned into like a whole like own little meta meta game of like can I get all the way to the end this dungeon without anybody seeing me and get this helmet and get out and go turn it in and then go start the companions quest. It worked. Wow. So having cleared out that miscellaneous log, I have to be very careful because it happened to me once when I was just looting stuff. Don't read the Red Sword or the Sword of the
whatever, Red Ghost, Red Crest. Think I know what you're talking about. It's it's it's a question you get from a book, but it's a repeatable quest or it'll just go again every time you read the book. So I completed it, and then I read the book again and I got this freaking quest again, and not wanting any quests on my miscellaneous log, had to run the quest again. And now I need to make sure I never let it go. You bookshell let it go. But the book is all
around the world. It's like a it's like a book that I want to burn all those books in the world. That is now my new quest. Just take all those books and then yeah, it's always good. I'm an SS expert moving on, Uh what have I been playing? I'm sorry, I Brad. Anything else you want to shout out here? Push Mo sky Rims Island, All right, fair enough, unless we should talk about Street Letter Tech and I don't know. There's video on the site. Just go
look at it. Yeah, this video up the side of the street right across tech and that game pretty cool. Yeah, I'm sorry. Yeah. Yeah. Also there's a bunch of stuff coming up on the site this week of things that I have played recently that couldn't talk about before I think up today there's the Tiger Woods PGA two thirteen connected demo where they're you know, rolling in some optional connect support there. Some of that stuff seems potentially pretty
cool. It's it's interesting seeing that, you know, because like it's move support has been on Tiger for two years now, right, that's been good,
and it's been it's been pretty good. But it's just interesting seeing the like how like the the approach they have to take when doing connect stuff is pretty much the exact opposite of what they have to do when they're dealing with like WE stuff or or PlayStation move stuff, because it's like with with you know, we we motion plus PlayStation move All movement that you're divining for the
character is coming out of just you know that controller. It's you know what, what's the the accelerometer telling you, what's the gyroscope telling you, and figuring it out from there. So it's it's sort of like the person doesn't
exist. But then when doing connect stuff they have to go the exact opposite of we don't have a physical thing, so we have you stand you know, shoulders straight in front of the TV, and then we're gonna figure out your swing based on the actual like movement of your body of like you know world skeleton you, and then as you move around you that well you definitely don't want Steven Tyler around them because skeleton you in a hot minute, so
that you know, that stuff wasn't always perfect, but it seemed like there was some some interesting stuff to be done there. Actually, as part of that visit, he also showed me like kind of their new swing control stuff for just the regular controls, and it seemed pretty cool some of the stuff that they're doing just in terms of giving you more like usable swing control for for kind of doing uh, you know, fades and such. So I will go too into it because none you guys give a shit. But I
thought that stuff looked pretty neat as well. But connect videos up on the site. They'll find Happy Action Theater. We saw that last week that don't Find. Tim Shaefer came in and give us give us a fun live demo. Hot dog suit. Patrick was there too, Okay, Double Find brought that too, Yeah, which I wish that was part of our might have to look into that. But those were your three D glasses though? Are
our three D glasses? And producer Greg Rice off screen and be like, all right, this is the way you can fuck with them, and then he would send I would send me into battle crawling in. Yeah. That that an animated gift. It's pretty good. It's still running on my computer right now at the rest of Evil six. There's there's a con since that happened, there's been a constant tab on my computer here or just running the
animated gift of you jumping up and throwing fireballs at everyone. I just I wish with all of my being that they were leaving Will Smith in the final version. Yeah, that would have been at least it exists is on video as part of the permanent record yeah, but that was cool to see those guys and check that out. We're gonna have a quick look up this week of another quick look e X of Iron Brigade, Rise of the Martian Bear,
which is the first DLC for that. We shot that with Brad Mirror double Fine back in December two thousand five's been sitting on that for a little while. Connected to the same time he was on the Apples to Apples quick look. If you're a if you're keeping track of the brand mer timeline, the chronology of all this that was reported that same night. I've been here
again since that. There's no true timeline for Brad Murry. It definitely depends overcome from Apples to Apples was you know, even though Apples to Apples was after it's yeah, it's weird. If you want Apples to Apples, then follow this brand turned to page thirty four. If you go with the Professor, Uh Dirt Showdown, which is a sort of it's dirt, It's dirt, the next dirt game. It's not the next Dirt four. Well I'm not saying it's theret four, but I'm saying it's the next dirt Let me,
let me rephrase it, there will be a Dirt four. Yeah. So so they're not even that this isn't and so they said that a right, yeah, they said at right, yes, Dirt four is happening, and that this is just they are not focusing on any of the hardcore like uh rally stuff in in Dirt Shadow, and this is demolishing Derby's and you know, kind of a lot more contact, easier vehicles, going more in sort of the gym gym conn of stuff that they started doing more of in
Dirt three. It looks I mean, it looks pretty good. Those games have always looked pretty sharp. Yeah, I miss the like try to talk to them about like what this game is. I'm like, you know, I always really enjoyed about the Dirt series. Is that, you know, from Dirt two four, because that's kind of where I came into the series has been that blend. Yeah, but we'll have stuff on that later in the week. I'll go too much more into that. Warp warp Yeah,
god, that's right. Warp they saw we saw that we had comes out soon too. That's the first game in the in the house party. It's true. Yes, we'll star talking about that. Let's get into news. Let's talk about goings on in the world of video games. So, guys, we did it. I want to I want you all to pat yourselves on the back. You were managed last week to Jeff's doing it, and I appreciate your commitment to it. I mean I can pat myself with the back of my hands. That still count. Yeah, that's a pat.
It's a backpat. Tell the back. And I don't let that sound yeah. I uh. We stopped Sopa and pieba. You guys with our live stream last week. We showed people what the world would be like without Wikipedia, and they said, oh god, we can't let this be. And Congress in the Congressional record if you just rolled back, they everyone said, no. I was watching c SPAN when they pulled up the live stream. This fuck. Can't just think about it this way though, I mean,
all the international callers on that. And now there's the larger international uh movement to to do something even worse. Yeah, there's something way worse happening in Europe right now. So so by us running that thing in the middle of the day when people in Europe are still awake, they said, we want more of this. See what you've done and so oh back Laird. Yeah, I don't know, kind of screw screwing up European Internet like whatever.
Yeah, that's not even real internet. That's what is that the metric Internet. I have the opposite side of the cable. It's just your own that even mean I can't do I put the ethnic cable in upside down, like what you flushed the Internet toilets they go the other way. Mmmm uh So yeah, Xbox Live House Party. I don't want to just throw this off entirely, but yeah, basically after the the big blackout last week, there
was a lot of kind of rollback of support. Yeah. Actually yeah, largely Republican rollback, hinging on their argument being that they didn't want an expansion of federal power. Uh and yeah, seem more of like a they should have said that before this whole thing started. Yeah. Yeah, there's basically just it's it's the tech companies won uh the bet The bet on from Congress went from we're got a bet on the tech companies being more important than Hollywood
right now. And so there's still a lot of websites and stuff getting hacked, like someone hacked like UFC stuff because they support it. They totally. They when they pulled down CBS dot com, and all that came up on CBS was like a directory that's an index dot html like like literally, that's
what happened when he went to CBS dot com for about an hour. This incredible quote floating around from Chris Dodd of the Most Picture Association, Yeah, oh my god, dude, literally paraphrasing slightly, but it was literally directed at Congressman saying like, don't expect us to write you a check when you're not gonna yeah tow the line. Yeah, well he just yeah, he did the golden revolving door left Congress. Now he's a lobbyist for the MPa.
So yeah, Hollywood's pissed. They should be. Yeah, you know, and you know they're kind of short sighted protecting old business kind of mentality, like yeah, this is this is against what they had hoped would happen. I think what is more relevant to us that is is unnerving is with like how the ESA has handled most of this, where after everyone had pulled out, then they sent out a statement saying, yeah, we're against it
too. Well here's the thing, so like the and I was I was wrong and parsing it out initially, of it wasn't really the the ESA drop support for SO or PIPE. It was more that, look, these bills lost because if you in the statement basically says they would still support this legislation, but the battles over and that they're just they're looking for similar stuff and
another piece of legislation. So even though a lot of their member companies have come out and said they are against that sort of legislation, Yeah, I think there will be. I think there will be a reformulation by the essay based on like, you know, what I've heard regarding them and the partners that they work with. But that, yeah, there is significant you know when you have companies like Epic Games coming out outright saying like, we don't
the ESA represents us, but not in this respect. I think there will be a recalculation of how that works out the next time. Yeah, there's never there's never been something of this. Usually when the ESA goes to bat for the industry, they are everyone's behind them. You know, it's like the federal government looking to regulate games in terms of content and how they're managed to retail. But this is something that kind of split people based on what
their business models work. So what do you think these bills? Do you think they these these get re mulate? Do you think these are just dead in the water. Yeah. The initial fear is that some of this stuff
sheets tacked on as a rioters to other legislation. But I think it's more likely is that specifically, well people need to pay attention to is more what happens overseas, and I think what I've been reading seems to be that, well, they'll probably wait until the elections in November to see how things shake up, to see where the allegiances kind of kind of fall right, So okay for now, but no reason to stop paying attention because it's just going
to come back in a different way then, which is really really my biggest concern is like it's one thing to get the Internet to fight and get all riled up, but if you gotta get riled up again, yeah, and keep them paying attention, which no one really wants. And I I haven't done enough reading about the European stuff, but it seems like the big fear there is that a lot of it isn't public, you know, at least
here, like it's happening in you know, hearings and stuff like. It sounds like there's a lot of secret meetings to determine how this stuff plays out, and it's not as as open, even for as close as as Washington
can sometimes be. It's kind of tragic because you know, you'd want to believe that, you know, society has enlightened itself to a point where we would be moving past this type of legislation and this type of reaction to piracy and more on the the other side of it, whereas you know, instead of focusing on that, why not build better business build new business models that actually entice people to purchase that content and uh and and kind of go because
that way that way, well, it's a very hard and uncertain process. Like yeah, you know, there's no you end up with, you know, the music what the music industry did where they just dug in and tried to see as many people as they can and you know, kind of someone tunes from being you know, like holding that stuff back, holding back the the new business model that it has now and it eventually broke through, and it seems like that's going to have to happen to every other industry before before
this goes away. But it seems like there would be someone at some point smart enough to be like, why don't we instead put all our efforts into making this happen to try and kind of cut this off and sat this should be is lord? Right? Yeah, well, if you're if you're spending time focusing on preserving your old sure that you can. But you can brute force that by throwing endless money through lobbyists. Yeah, at legislation as opposed
to like that. It's never gonna figure out like the next big thing in business or media is a very subtle and delicate process. But when you you know, take ato account that piracy always finds a way. Sure it always will. Well, and what's it's actually what's curious and there was a good story of it. Ours Technica looking into this is that. And so right after all this, after souping and pipe of died that the mega upload the
guy who was hiding out in New Zealand. I think it was Kim dot Com Yeah who if you have not seen the video, he was also the number one Call of Duty player in the world for a little while. There's a video of him achieving that it's fucking and this guy is crazy, and there's a bunch of reports coming in from like old Quake players saying that he used to cheat at Quake about right in the league, that he ran in the league, that he ran kicking people out of his league for for being
Did you did you read about his arrest? Oh yeah, he's like a bond. He had like a straight up like panic room in his mansion, and he like they engaged a bunch of the electronic locks, like the cop the cops, like the like the the agents rolled up. He like noticed them invading his palace basically like and then yeah, ran to his panic room and they had to like blow torch it open. I think he had weapons in there, Yeah, I think. I don't think he actually tried to
use anything. No, but he he was clutching something. But so anyway, so the if it was what was it clutching you know what, I'd be clutching something in that. Yeah, that's scenario. I'm sure might Actually my panic room drivate rooms and now your panic room scotten really hot and my shirt off. Stan. The whole story of that mega uploads thing is it's
pretty amazing. But so there was our our standing goes to arguing that while okay, so we just put a big congressional push for these new federal regulations. The real problem is is is these file sharing sites that make it as
easy as what do I want a pirate today? That plus in a Google search, or these sites like files too, like places that are search aggregates for these different sites that claim to be about sharing files but are really just fronts for for for pirating, And so it would there's been further story.
Sometimes we get assets and trailers that have been posted by a pure company to a site like that, but they but by and large other their their main trafficking is I think it was like filed Sonic or files one of those sites
actually as a results of the Mega upload stuff disabled. So what happens now is that there may be less of a concern about what happens with like Hollywood seeking legislation if it turns out that like there's already existing federal authority to takedown sites that are proven to just behavings for pirates and not have that safe harbor, but that like a YouTube gets Yeah, but but the NIH reports I've read sounds like that megaupload guys ma end up going free and that it was
possibly an overreach. So I think there's a lot of moving parts that until we see before we see an he's sort of like real movement copyright laws written a long time ago and hasn't evolved. Yeah it has well yeah, well it hasn't even modernized. The author well after death, but it's kind of definitely extended to you know, whenever the Disney stuff is going to go up, they they Disney's. Disney's basically to blame for all that stuff, right,
you guys ever seen the Danger Vita movie? Other people's money should go watch it. Sometimes there's a he plays a acquisitions due. Oh I've seen the speech from that, Yeah, like the big speech when he talked about the downside, talking about by whips, and it's a It's the thing that I always think of whenever, like you see these kind of old, needy strugglings and you know, it's like, no, this is the way we do things, and why should we have to change and and all this.
Uh. He isn't talking about media specifically in this, but it I think is highly applicable. It's if you do nothing else, look for that speech change Just fucking awesome speech from day DeVito. But I find it highly applicable to all this stuff. Other people's money. Just go YouTube the speech. It's it's pretty easy to find. As you talking about video, it's exactly trying to ask and then PayPal Columbia or someone two bucks. All right,
I think that covers that pretty well. Microsoft's health party, health party, house party, health party, health party. Definitely not a health party. No. Uh. Next promotion from Microsoft for XPLA games coming up starting starting right after Valentine's Day, Uh, February of the fifteenth, Warp coming out
for eight hundred Microsoft points. Warp is for lovers. Wait ten bucks really ten bucks for and then fifteen for Alan Wake's American Nightmare, and that's coming out February twenty second, said stand alone, stand alone thing product NEXTUS, NEXTASE, next, NEXTIUS. I don't know that is, uh, First person Shooter February twenty nine, eight hundred Microsoft points, sci fi kind of competitive focused like flag like quakesh style. We're saying this is based on some
open source things. Yeah, there's an open source thing that is based on the Quake one engine because they released them and you did this during TNT or. Yeah, we had to play that that game. Unhappy out that was or we played Zenotic, which is a fork of that that came about as a result of the people responsible for the Nextius name licensing it to Tilphonic,
this company that is now producing it as a using cry Engine three. Uh yes, Raphael Saddiq's company, ill Phonic is and apparently he's doing some music for it. The whole thing is just the weirdest fucking star if our We we did an interview back at packs and I'm pretty sure that's what came out of that. As they said that he was doing that. I didn't think I really cared until I heard that, Yeah he was. He was also
in the panic room of the Mecca upload guy. Yeah here he was being clutched hu and uh so yeah, so that that the them licensing of that name is Ilphonic angered because it was an open source project. So a lot of people that have contributed to it, I think we're like what what? Yeah, so they forked off and some of them are now working on something that's very similar called Zenotic. That's that's very much in development, but still
kind of cool that you can just download play. But then this is coming to downloadable platforms. Uh you know. PS three three sixty Is it PC also it seems like it should be, but it is. It is. It is very much a you know, kind of red versus Blue, you know, Quake style jump ads, you know, like that's or they're they're jump AADs in the game. I don't don't know the game. I don't know if New if new Nexius has that stuff or not, I don't, I don't know what, but it was that style of counter strike. It's
not from what I'm seeing this game. I feel like the story is several times more interesting than what I've seen in the actual game. Yeah, totally like the backstory the same. I was like, yeah, just the weird development story of going this this open source and then betraying that and then switching engines and then Raffael Sadiq that's the chair on top for me, right, it's just like out of nowhere company like Waite has a company that makes games?
What what it's a great name for Rafael Sadi's game. Really is development Studio really is? I'm a fan of that. Yeah, so I played that game. Uh packs Seattle last time we're over there, and maybe when did we shoot that interview? Whenever we shot that interview I saw that, and that's the only time I've seen it, but it didn't seem great. I didn't remember it was not it was not this last Packs, so maybe
it was last Packs East. Yeah, that sounds more bright. And then rounding out the house party promotion is I Am Alive March seventh, four fifteen. But I hope that's good. It's been hearing about it from long enough. That's you go through a couple of different teams. It was a retail product. We throw water and the people run for the water. The water is scarce. That sounds right, all right? You throw water like on a broken piece of glass and I'll fall through it or something. This is
like twenty seven years ago. I think I saw this when it was first coming off for Clico, where you play a little cartridge in it ghosts that are chasing you around the smaze and you have to water, and then you get the bigger pellets, but their pellets of water and some big pellets,
and then all the ghosts from blue because they're thirsty. The big pellets are made out of glass, and then you are like have broken glass in your mouth, and then when you eat the ghost where broken glass room mouth cuts them up roll where's the broken glass everywhere? Thank you? What do I get for buying all these games? You get all these games? They haven't said I think this is This is just way of Hey, there's been kind of nothing, so we're going to kick it off and give it a name.
Jeff, Hello, Skylanders Giants dot com has been registered. What do you think? Yeah, I don't know. It was registered by Mark Monitor, which is one of those nights I want you want to say top of this story. I love that name, Mark Monitor. Mark Monitor. Yeah, they monitor your trademarks. But Mark Monitor is also really good like DJ name. Yeah, he runs a PR company. Yeah, Mark Monitor, Mark Marr send of the screen shots on water sports. It is up there
with bot water Sports. Oh god. Yeah. So yeah. I think a Skylanders sequel is obviously inevitable. Between the way Activision does business and between you know, kind of the how toys work and how Skylanders as as has done for them on how money works, it makes sense to make another Skylanders. This seems like maybe a little early to start talking about it, but Toy Fair is coming up pretty soon here, yes, middle February, and
those guys always run on a pretty advanced schedule for that stuff. I feel for the toy stuff, like you always see stuff like way ahead of its actual really, so it could be very well that there that this is the right time to start talking about the next step for Skylanders. In that context, I fully expect we will see another disc in November, you know, some sometime around the end of the year, just in time for Christmas and
the wave. Yeah, so they still haven't released all of the Skylanders one compatible figures, and that stuff sounds like it's coming in the spring, of course, Like Skylanders is turned into this horrible like people stealing them all off the shelves and buying them all up so they can sell them on eBay,
like all you know, it's sold out everywhere. You've still started kits and all this stuff, like the figures have become scarce, and it's disappointing, Like there's stuff out there that you know, I would be more than happy to buy, but I'm not fucking out of my mind. I'm not gonna
go wait in a line. I'm not gonna go check stores every day to see if they've stopped, and I'm not gonna pay, uh, the crazy markup rates that people are trying to charge on the Amazon and eBay and all this stuff, and then they said, like, you know, like this part of the toy business. Scarcity is part of how right operate. Like they've said, like I was reading through the Twitter account, They're like, yeah, some that stuff is just gonna stop being manufactured, which right they
want to encourage the sort of craziness because that's how you generated. That's why they made the silver figures. And there's like there are gold figures out there also to try and you know, just have like there's one of these per case, like when there was do they announce it or is it is? It really is. It's to the point where like they just start showing up and they're like the buzzes stuff started showing up. I don't think they announced
that silver figures were coming. That's kind of they think they just like put the started putting them out there. Well, yeah, it was pretty cool, but they're not different in game. It's it's just cosmetic. You know. There were some variants that were different in game, like the legendary figures are different from the regular ones, but the silver ones are just regular figures that happened to be silver, which has no value to me. The d
game we see. It's it's if it was a more of a massively multiplayer component where there was a chance where like you were sitting in lobbies where you could be bragging that I have this silver gold one. But like if there's
there's no in Yeah, there's no in game difference. So even even if there and there is, because there is that crappy flash game, the Aspiros Universe thing that they do on the web, that there there is a multiplayer component there where you can kind of chat with other people, but no one knows you would have a silver thing there. So yeah, it's you know, I think it's inevitable for their their them to make another Skylanders game and for it to come out this year. I mean they're obviously, you know,
working on that stuff. The timeframe lines up with with Toy Fair, So I don't know if that name really resonates. I don't think that that necessarily is the final name of the thing. Maybe it is, Maybe it doesn't don't really lend themselves twos and threes, so it makes it would be blank. I think they would just call it Skylanders Series two for the toys or something, unless they're gonna make big figures and they're actually giants. It's
really what I'm hoping for, right giants. Anybody pieces of about the leg it comes together like vult That might be kind of cool. That might be kind of cool vultrom. But I think for you know, if they're getting to do another Skylanders game, or when they do another Skylanders game, I think it makes sense for you know, all the old toys have to work
with it for that to for that to work. I don't think they would they would do that, so, you know, assuming the toys can store that information without becoming incompatible with the first game, I imagine they just tack another ten levels onto it and go from a level ten cap or like a ten level cap to twenty level cap, add some more powers to the existing figures for the Skylanders sequel, and then have a whole new set of figures
that are only compatible with the second game. I guess the Portal of Power does like when I was looking at all this giant stuff does have like a caveat and like the like fine prints on the box as like none of this is guaranteed to work in subsequent video games. I'm sure that's just a legal
thing, right, yeah, because that would be crazy. It would be like your portal of power and your things didn't work, get in there in case that game just completely crashed and burned or there was some crazy technical reason that it didn't work. But like it seems like a pr disaster for to not Yeah, you know that would be they would have to like say, send us your portal and we'll send you another portal free your minor upgrade fee
or something like that. I mean, they wouldn't be able to get away with that if like another generation of consoles came out by the time the next Skylanders came out. It's not like that thing's gonna work on the next three sixty or something like that. It didn't work. It's not USB, it's it is USB. But they are not cross compatible like that. I think the PS three portal is not. They all work with the PC, even the three DS one has a USB cable that you can use it on the
PC, so it's universal in that end. Is the game on PC? Yeah, yeah, the PC is MAC even there's also a MAC version of the game proper. Yeah, but then the website stuff uses the portal, so you can stall a driver for the portal that works with the web games. You can swap guys on the fly that way. So yeah, I mean this, this all seems inevitable. Whether this is the actual real thing or not, who knows. I will probably will probably know by toy Fair
what where that's gonna go? Uh? But yeah, I expect more Skylanders. That's not to not to you know, blow in his minds. Yeah, exactly, I'm an analyst, and there will be more Skylanders. I would like to buy fifty thousand of your stocks. Great sold, that's how this works. Great, right, Yes, SMA expert analysis, Yes, thank you, Patrick. Any other news that you feel we're bringing up right now? EL six? The hell? Say what's wrong with you people? Man? Figure out what you know it is? Yeah? It has been
official announced that. Yeah, I'm the way I've been here about this game for a while. Trailer looks it looks like a game they're saying it's gonna come out this year. All right, there was a there was a uh when my stuff put up like that added to like their product page Xbox dot com and imply there's like six player online co op, which is it would be pretty interesting wonderful? Is a wave based survival mode of some type could be. What are the other rumors is that I hope this one is true.
Is that because it's split, it's it's you know, it's Leon and and and Chris. Uh. One of the rumors about the game is that one is more action oriented and one is more survived. And I really hope that's true because if that's the difference, I have to split where like I just don't haven't like Already four I thought was like the best blend of like it's still kind of scary and creepy and weird, it's also a good action game, and Already five just got way too bombasking over the top, and
I just didn't care for that game at all. So I'd love if there was And I know I'm not going to get like another R one where it's like, yeah, real a lot of resource man fuck the ribbons, But I love it if there was something to that, you know, and they split the across characters. I think that'd be really neat. So except that you still have to play the other character at some point. Yeah, if
that, yeah, probably, I don't know. That is ridiculous. Iculous was real strong showed in the announcement trailer like that looks like a launch trailer to me. It's a game, that's it. They've obviously been working on it for a pretty long time, he he said, two years guys, guys, what President Evil? Yeah, I enjoyed that twitter that that wave and everyone realizing it President Evil six. Sure, voice acting is god awful.
Me. I was twitching really badly right now. You probably have that we looked at we coined that trademark get mark marketer or whatever, the mark monitor I get mark on the phone. Okay, haven't talked to me about that. Yeah, I think I think we rolled that out a couple of years ago. Yeah, he pissed about that. No, happy, Okay, it's finally it's happy disseminated. Okay, that's that's different game. Anything
else you guys want to say about Residing Evil six? That trailers too much, he gets too much and at the end of it, too much is poorly cut. Yeah, it's just it's like three minutes long, but the last thirty seconds or like explosion explosion cutting two that that guy's blowing up to more explosions and then another explosion. I can't even tell who's who, and it's a weird combat mechanics that don't make sense for you to show right now. But you're trying to put a teaser in this sliding on his back.
I guess that's different. And then and then he explodes. Some parts of the game I thought did not look graphically as it goes five, like, some of it just look pretty flat. That yeah, it looks it looked it looked I did like that one movie they showed it. I don't know if it was Chris or I were like you like dove and then turned around and was on the ground, and which kind of seems contradict the whole idea
of like that being the survival horror part. If if he's doing like dive and shoot moves and stuff, sometimes we have to survive against horror, you might have to dive and shoot. I guess that's not I just I wanted that game to be scary, and it looks like it's going and this is the way this series goes out before they reboots it, you know, I get it. It's fan service. They want at some point it had to go viral, you know, virally worldwide, And I get that, but
I just want to look at this. It feels more like the movies, and I hate the movies. It feels like the kind of does feel like the kind of Paul W. Sandersen it up. And yeah, I mean it makes sounds like a movie trailer, like the way that they are cutting the dialogue in and stuff like they've they've I feel like they've done a pretty good job there of emulating a movie trailer style in parts of it. Sure, but I don't care about Resident Evil at all. So you have by
you, I mean the audience for the game, I don't know. I just I reject any premise that Resident Evil has not always been kind of dumb, Like, yes, this is this is bigger, but it's been a stupid B movie horror from the beginning. Yeah, like zombie sharks, come on, Yeah, what are even wanted? Are you wanted to? They both had B movie elements, but we're legitimately scary games at like, yeah, less explosions, more like prey doors. It was more deliberate. It
was slower but poorly translated in a really endearing way. Yes, I guess I always thought it was like, like, okay, you're a zombie, like you're you're templating yourself after kind of you know, traditional zombie stories, but then it's like the Japanese part of it of and then so we'll have fucking, you know, zombie infected everything, and they will all be these and they've become more and more monstrous as that series goes on, and it
happens really quickly. Well yeah, it's like they just keep ratching it up. At a certain point, like it, but it becomes a residuval six looks like and if it just it doesn't even like it's very very quickly. It doesn't even record resemble the kind of b horror stuff that they were originally riffing on. But at this point it's become more about the characters. Like when I look at how fans respond versus like when my expectations are what I
want. A lot of what I read about the fans, they're super excited to see all of you know, they're like, oh, Ashley's back. I'm like, who's Ashley? All right? She was an r fis all right? I get those are That's what I want out of a resideo game seems to be different than what the audience for a residual game is. I accept, I accept that Leon kennedy'll never be a rookie copation. It's not a rookie cops doesn't. But he's still Leon Kennedy. Flashback to when he's
also the changed his middle name is no longer ass. Also does he get a haircut halfway through the game him this iPad? It's just three that's him, right? Is the is the fist guy? That this guy looks like Wesker too? I know Wesker is the guy who's like doing all the way late punches. Do you remember that in that trail a fist guy when all the fisting happens, I would believe it if you was fisting. So it's when the woman's giving the draft, the blow job on the logo and a
really weird part of the trailer. I don't know. So reason evil six for it'st ourselves. He remember bets on if it comes out November. It will not come out November. Okay, they'll make their date. Yeah I will. I will take the other side of I'm with you on that water. We'll come up with terms next week. We got it out, we got dinner, we got t through the rest of this podcast. We got no time left. Uh so that's news. We's talking about new releases real
quickly. On retail shelves. There is My Pet Puppy three D for the Nintendo three DS. Look for that at your local games retailer. I will PlayStation Network. Scary Girl came out this week for it. Okay, that was last week on next Clips, right quick, look of that up. And on Xbox Live marketplace, you've got Quarrel, which is a little word scramble. Uh, kind of like halfway between a scrabble and risk, like risk and boggle. Yeah, just kind of slot those together and that's what
you get. It's it's been out for mobile platforms. We've got on this iPad here, been out there for a while, and they brought it to Xbox Live. It's five bucks. Uh, and it's out this Wednesday. It's five it's five bucks. Okay. I feel a lot better about that thing knowing. Yes, wait, really yes, because I really like Quarrel on the iPad. I think it's a fun word game that they fan of the aesthetic, but I like the mechanics. Yeah, well the aesthetic it's
kind of non existent. Yeah, but actually I haven't seen the Xbox version. Sorry, that's what I'm version. It looks like the Okays the same thing exactly. Yeah, and Puddle is also out this week, but that's ten bucks. It looks like the physics fluid dynamics. Do you guys like fluid dynamics? Sure? I like dynamics. I'm not big fan of fluids. What's like crystal dynamics? Getting real hot? I need to go make some fluid so let's keep this thing rolling. Turned to goo and that's uh.
That's releases for this week. Let's see if we can squeeze in a couple of emails. Emails bomb Cast at giant bomb dot com is the email address emails Now I had less emails. I just thought I was managing these emails. You're a poor email manager. Let's see. Yeah. Uh. First email comes in from Adam and Melbourne, Australia. Hey, bomb Cast, I have a question for Vinnie, specifically, I recently learned of an
eighty thousand signature strong online petition to bring dark Souls to the PC. Do you think the intent of dark Souls being unforgivingly hard and all would be affected altered by modding yourself to make your time? Yes? I do, Okay, that is true. For better or worse. I don't know you would I yea like mitigate some of the I'm saying, if, like, if Dark Souls came out for the PC, would you play it? And would you modit? I don't know. You can't tell t'em minute tough to predict.
If you could modit on the platform you're planning it on now kind of defeats the whole purpose. I think, I think it could be interesting, though, it could be interesting maybe, I don't know. Cleaning that game up is not necessarily a route to go if you're just talking about making it easier though. Want clean faces? Yeah, big booties, Yeah, on the gaping Dragon. Next. Next email comes in from Justin in Waynefleet, Ontario, Canada. Hi, bomb cast, couldn't Sony put the nail in
the Nintendo? Next? Jed Coffin by adding tablet like functionality to the Vita? Couldn't they just make the Vita do the same thing that we you controller does with the PlayStation? Three argument, The PlayStation has the horsepower and the Vita can already do remote play. Theoretically, yes, but then you have to buy a Vida. Yeah, that's the Vida is too expensive to be used as a mere controller for another platform. Do you see the hacked videos
or not? Didn't hack the videos, but the hacks people playing like Red D Redemption and some other games already had like the functionalities there, Sony just hasn't they haven't. You know that's ever going to be great though, because I think only has two shoulder buttons. Yeah, and too many of those games rely on having four. Yeah, next tap? What comes in from
Dan in Minnesota? Hey, guys. During your twenty eleven Game of the Year deliberations for Best New Character, you mentioned Charlie Cutter and his wasted potential in Uncharted three. I recently read Nolan North's book Drake's Journal, and he confirms that in the original script, Cutter tagged along with Nate and Sully for the entire journey damn it. Partway through production, however, Graham mc tavish, the actor who portrayed Cutter and Lazarevic in Uncharted two so fun fact that's
the same voice, was casting Peter Jackson's film adaptation of The Hobbit. Cutter was then written out of the game by breaking his leg in Yemen. So makes a lot of sense. So there was that intent but they just for just production purposes. That's crazy. It seems like wouldn't it be easier to go rerecord the all the dialogue or a new actor than to like totally change the direction of the game. I wonder how ever along into development they were
when that happened. Right. It also makes you kind of question, like what the development cycle is like, or what the low is like of like what's being animated, and like, you know, how is it that you can just make your active halfway through? Right? Like how does that contract work? I would say, I see what you thinking, Like the timing kind of like in parallel between when they're doing this performance capture stuff and then
when they're actually implementing that performance capture stuff. There's a bit more to it than just go into the vocal booth. Yeah all right, yeah, okay, that's true. But they go fun. Fact, that is a fun fact. I don't know what coll it's fun. I had fun, but it's a fact. It's it's it's it's a fact to go oh yeah, fun, it's fun. It's a fun noise. That's fun. Chris Chris from Wyoming uh Dearly bombing. If THHQ was to go under volition, and
all their properties could be purchased by Square. Enichs slash IDUs and Saints Row four could merge with just cause. Three. The government gives the Saints control of steel Port, but they have to pick it up and take it to a destabilized the nation once one destabilized by Rico, who is a new homie, dual wheeled grappling hooks, ran nukes into space and what have you. That's too much apples and apples. I want to see Saints ro versus.
Final fantasy. The idea of Square picking up a lot of Tears whose properties I hadn't considered and would make a lot of sense for idos. Yeah, it would that. I could see them picking up dark siders. I could see them picking up depends on how that company shakes out, whether it gets sold all at once or whether the properties get split. But I think Square has said openly that they are going to heavily rely on their Western stuff,
so I wouldn't be surprised if they could use some more Western stuff. Yeah, so they got true crime. Oh it's not called that anymore? Right? Does that have a name? No? Probably announced? Ay? Three? If I had to take a guess probably come off as fall. Yeah. I hadn't considered that. That's a perfect fit. And on that note, we're gonna call this a show, thinks everybody wrote in bodcast jibomb dot com once again that email address Benny. Hey, it's been fun and that
has been fun. I apologize, we've laughed, we've learned. What are you apologizing for? I don't know. It's getting out of the way. Sorry, Sorry, everyone right here. That's it. Sure, I got nothing else. Sure we have have Yes, we're gonna go and uh and sticking up Lavos. This is you know, all right. I don't apologize anymore, the original gaping drag.
