Transcript

Mmm, Hello, it is Tuesday, January at twenty twenty fifteen. It's a momentous day. One twenty bro, it's a momentous day in the history one twenty Yeah, spark up an episode of the Giant Bomb cast. Right, and there we are if three time zones away. You know what I'm saying, month time, month zones, three month zones from here. It's it's a little hazy weather one month. I got a weather warning. What if metric? Yeah, exactly like swatch month time is very cool. Carry

your umbrella. It's gonna get yep. It's a you know, like a turned up Oh okay, before turned up? Was turned up? Is it come from like hype? Yeah? You could get HIPI Okay, it's time to get Hiphi. Also you could get cans of Hi Fi. They made an energy drink called HIPI. You made that. I don't know that anyone, no one. I don't know if anyone in the notes. No body takes responsibility. Yeah, a robot generated Hypie energy drink. It appeared.

Yeah, market research. The grape one was all right, actually, like the main flavor was grape apple. The name of the drink, the grape one, the grape one. No, it should be Prince made that. Instead it was Alexander the grape and then they got sued. Prince should have made an energy drink. Is Little John's drink still available? Crunk juice? Yeah? No, no, I don't well, I don't. I shouldn't say for sure, but I don't think it is. I think I kicked

on microphone corps. Yeah, we're in the studio. Yeah, like we're in the studio. Studio. Yeah, so we might sound different. Huddle around this little table, hiny little table here, still big enough to accommodate four people, that's right, little big enough to accommodate Drew scandal and stand here standing everything at the end of the tables. Its great with I'm just gonna take a picture right now. This is live photography happening. Wow,

as we speak. You can just take a picture. It ain't like the old days, is it. You gotta get your flash powder out, yep, snap these shots? Do I want to hdr it? I don't know. Wait nine months for it to develop. Whatever the hell happened with old timey photos. There's a picture that might go on the internet. Take a picture of the two of us standing in front of the clock towers. It's being christened and then there you go, I'm guilty of it. Now,

Happy New Year, and it's in twenty one. Congratulations. Like you know, now, I have talked about Back to the Future in the year of Back to the Future, just like every other assure though fair enough, okay, yeah, I'm ahead of the curves behind like you would. You would be super trendy to like Back to the Future three, the one that people don't like. It was okay, whatever, but ter fine, like you know, but of the three top spun their guitars and they were in old

timy times. True, there's nothing wrong with Back to the Future three with some people hate too. Some people see it as like the Temple of Doom of that, and I don't agree at it all. Two's a little all over the place. I like to see the future, so I like the future, Biff. Yeah, it's a great character of future. Maybe all run like it's they're they're all the on the same level, like one movie to me, because like I as a kid, I just saw them all at the same time. Oh wow, you know as a kid, you

don't you can't tell things are good bad. See For me, it was like I remember there being a significant well I mean compared to two and three, like you know, the distance, like when one was over, you weren't necessarily sure that they were actually going to make another one. Yeah, it's not like they wrote well, I mean maybe they hope for a sequel, but it's not like they wrote one assuming there would be a sequel.

No, that's why that was just a standbond kind of cool. They we've really well and that was the thing as a kid looking back, like you know, you didn't know what about any of the like, oh, they shot two and three at the same time, and I actually very much new. So it's like you were old enough to know that a year apart was like a matrix sequels thing. Yeah, we didn't didn't tune three come out

very close together. Yeah, that was the idea. Yeah, I didn't like three, like nineteen ninety ish, I don't know, is that right. There's early nineties. Oh yeah, spaghetti westerns for sure, like Clintstwood stuff. Yeah, yeah, it could bend the seen a lot of this. They're good. Yeah, yeah, yeah for a few dollars more is I actually like more than good? He goes fistful of dollars, a few dollars more good Bed and the Ugly Yep, that's the Man with No Name

trilogy I've got always Are those all like that? Is that a chronology? Are those the same characters? I mean, it's the Man with No Name. It's basically supposed to kind of be the same guy. There's no overt connection. You just kind of like it's like the Zelda series. There's nothing. There's nothing that that's the explicitly shows that they aren't the same guy, right, except of the one where there was young Clint Eastwood and then at

adult Clint Eastwood. An adult Clint Eastwood could push the blocks and then young what could write? Of course? Of course you know they've got the mirror shield. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he had those those metal boots on. Yep, it made it really hard to walk. I want to say, Levan Cleeve might play different characters, and a couple of them, so, I mean, they don't feel a sequels. You can watch me in whatever order you want. They all make sense. Okay, it's much cool

guys shooting each other. I had never seen a Tombstone. That's finally watched it a few months ago. It's pretty good. Thinks a little over hyped. It's good. It's it's pretty good. Kurt Russell in it. I mean, it's great. Have you seen Unforgiven? I don't think I've seen Young Guns? How about Young Guns too? Unforgiven is serious? Can I spoil I'm Forgiven? No, you cannot. That movie is I mean, the plot of that movie can be explained in like two sentences. And it's

the best. Just let him watch it. Oh, it's so good. That is an Academy Award nominated in film. I kept seeing The Untouchables thinking it was Unforgiven. Those are totally different, I know, Yeah, but there are both you words about the same length yep from the same time. Confused. Isn't Gene Hackman in that? And Unforgiven? Yeah? Don't. Yeah, he's something. He has a total The rails of the boat were gold painted. What I don't remember that? I don't know. That's the

only Gene Hackman stuff I know. All right, Welcome to the giant cinema cast. I watched a couple of bad movies against Yeah, I did too, Yeah, what do you watch? I watched Air Force one on you said bad movies. The only thing bad about that is the CG plane crashing at the end. Which one is air Force one? Harrison Ford is the president Okay, yeah, the old man is the bad guy. Yeah, Kurt Russell in executive decision. Okay, that great, get off his plane.

Yes, I very much enjoy Air Force One. We then watched Congo. Congo is BA, which is a bad move. Congo is a bad movie. Great book. It was a good Taco Bell tie in the volcano menu? What was the volcano burrito? What spicier food? Okay, I can see where that would I don't know if that was actually tied in with Congo or not. I think it was. But is there even a volcano in Congo? Oh? Yes, it ties in very significantly to the end of the movie. Well, great, good to know Amy and whatnot?

Hello, Hi fucking Congo? Yep, God damn Bruce Campbell in that Yep? Okay, but what doesn't Bruce Cambell Campbell is great? Do you guys do you guys have like that that weird love? Like do you guys like really like Bruce Campbell? Like man, Bruce Campbell, He's the best. I mean, like I don't want to see him in everything ever. He feel like real. Well, he's like a certain like type of person that is just like this, like undying Bruce Campbell fan. I never understood it.

Yeah, I mean he was pretty great back in the nineties. Great, Yes, he was the right guy. Didn't say I didn't see those movies in the heat of the moment, so coming to him later and I was like, okay, yeah, I understand. Like I didn't. I didn't even know what Evil Dead was, and I just went to see Army of Darkness in the theater because I looked dumb, right, and it was fucking amazing. Yeah, and then I went back and watched Evil Dead too, and yeah, you know, easy to develop an affinity for the guys,

and that's how you're introduced to that. So he choose some good scenes in burn Notice. Yeah, No, I think he's great and burn Notice, Yeah, I wish that I watched more burn Notice. Like he's great because he's so self aware, like he knows exactly who and what he is. But I think the people like movies. We got him out. We've got to go see Bubba Hotel because man, BC is in it, you know, like, Nope, the movies kind of whatever. That movie tried

way too hard. That was the moment with the JFK thing, right, it's been there fighting. Yeah, I didn't like that one. What bad movies did you watch? Dan? I watched Grown Ups too. Oh God, let's show what are you starting a podcast? We were talking about expanding our podcast line up. This is not the way I give me your thirty second summary. We're not getting into the business of competing podcasts here. Okay. The first thing that happens is Adam Sandler and Samahayak wake up in bed

and a deer is in their bedroom and it peas all over them. It gets scared and goes up on hind legs and just peas all over both of them. And then the deer runs in the bathroom and Adam Sandler's sun is showering and the deer peas all over him. Other guns like promising start, other gags involved hot young, hot young comic Colin Quinn. Now, can we replace the deer with Already? Would that make it a better movie? Yeah? Probably? Okay, that's dirty works. Yeah basically, which is

a great movie, which, yeah, no problem. Can we get Already laying in this movie before he dies tragically? Probably? Not? Also, the only movie I've seen that stars both Steve Bashimi and Stone Cold Steve Boston. So there's that, Well then you haven't seen. Yeah, it's a terrible movie. Ben Hanson my friend from Gameingformers in town, and so we just got a little drunk and watched that whole movie and we listened to some of that podcast afterwards. I think it was you, Brad that told me

about it the worst idea of all time podcasts. And yeah, I don't know how they do it. They're on episode like forty six or something. Now I think they're gonna end it at fifty two. It was like it's a one year challenge. Yeah, it is a miserable movie. There's not a single funny thing that happens in it, and it made two hundred and forty seven million dollars. Talk to Matt Rory about the fun Growing Ups franchise sometime. Oh really he will. He'll have some things to say, Okay

to you, it's about grown ups. There's a scene where Colin quinns working at an ice cream store and he's trying to fix the machine, but the chocolate keeps coming out, and so it looks like it's poop coming out of his butt and everyone standing at the end line is laughing at Colin Quinn. Some good stuff, right for Colin. The only time anyone will ever laugh at col Quinn. I like Tough Crowd, Remote Control was good. Yeah. I saw some stand up specially he did recently and it was just store.

I always have a tough spot for Colin Quinn because anyone that followed Norm McDonald's on Weekend Update after he got fired, I was destined to hate anyone that followed Norm and it was Colin Quinn and he was one of the worst, is he. I haven't seen that thing. Colin Quinn approached the Weekend Update, approached the desk with this like this like really appropriate level of not

giving a fuck. I actually liked ye, Like he was just like fucking just going through the jokes like he you know, the jokes were so brain days. This happened to this happened. Yes there's a joke, all right, here's the next joke. Here go next joke. I think the only things that ever made me laugh about his time on the Weekend up Date was when Will Ferrell would do the Harry Carey thing and accidentally will not accidentally call

him Norm and get an actual lap out of Collin Quinn. That always cracked me up. That's pretty good. Yeah, that's pretty good. But no one can fall the north indeed. Yeah, all right, Nola the best Weekend Up Date anchor for sure ever. Charles Rockett, he slid his throat in a field. What that he's dead? What? He was also the rich asshole in Dumb and Dummer. I actually don't know who you're talking about. He said fuck on the air. Charles Rockett was like he was.

Probably it was like early eighties, like the Wow the Arrow when like people started first running their Saturday Night Dead well, yeah that time when, but it was like around the Eddie Murphy era. I think probably was around the Charles Rockets when if Eddie wasn't on the cast, that show would have died. He was the one thing keeping he was going. But I don't know, man, I I I go. I think uh. I think Tina Fey is the best. She's incredible, she's a great ill Like Norm McDonald

just did what Norm McDonald always does, which is the best. Actually ring he actually didn't actually like, I don't know, Norm McDonald is fine, but the top tier is Norm Tina Seth Meyers is vastly underrated. He is great, totally. Yeah, yeah, it doesn't have his own show now. Yeah, feel like Norm McDonald's whole thing brushes a little too into like

Adam corolla territory for former taste at times. He doesn't get all preachy and he doesn't get weird, like it brushes up against Corolla's thing occasionally in a way where I'm just like I thought Norm McDonald had turned in the kind of a wing nut in recent years. Yeah, he's he's a thinking Rob Schneider, who is He's like a weird anti vaccer and all that stuff. But but now Norm's just a very odd, odd guy, Like he stopped drinking.

He hasn't. I think he's been sober for a long time. But I've seen him live several times and it's just this weird meandering like halfway through the head he'll be like, ah, what do you guys want to talk about? Like he seems like he could have, like he could have done this Letterman thing, like he could have actually like been that type of talk show host and taking it in like a Letterman direction of kind of not giving a fuck, Like I think that that would have like it worked or still

could. It does work if you go to Norm McDonald live on YouTube. It is a fascinating show. It is what you describe. It's him hosting like you know, a Letterman type thing but not giving a fuck at all and just bringing on all of his friends. Yeah, but is he's doing it out of his house like it's it's something like shitty studio or whatever with like I think is like a a sponsor or something just on YouTube. Yeah, and it's hilarious. He gets good. Guess the one with the Larry

King is great. One with Billy Bob Thornton's really good. Okay, super Dave Osborne, that's a great one. I think that whole like you know, online talk show done by people that you are slightly too big to be doing an online talk show space is sometimes really interesting. Like I watched a lot of that Tom Green show. Tom Green was doing stuff out of his house and and just doing like a straight up late night talk show, like you know, it's not the Tom Green that's just like fucking rubbing his ass

on ship and whatever. Like you know, there's there's something to Tom Green. Man. Tom Green, he could actually do a good interview and he's a credible rapper there. I said, really, check the No Wave hats that he put on an album with like one of the Dust brothers producing it, and like it was actually like it's not bad, it's not bad. Wow, But yes, checked, there's nothing wrong with check the r What was the name of the groups organized Rhyme? That's that's what. Yeah.

Yeah that's a good name. Yeah, that's a good name for a rapper. It's good. It's a good name for Tom Green's rapper. Yeah. Yeah, that's a great name for a Canadian rapper. Yeah. Sure, he pulls out a good running man in the video. Sure, why not? When I woke up this morning, the people that I expected to reminisce about did not include Tom Green. Yeah today? Who is he married to? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, I like Freddy gott Fingered. I remember all. I remember of it a lot. All I remember that about that

is a deer? Right? Is there a deer deer that urinates the first scene of the movie Tom Green? And then deer starts peeing and then it's just a scream from there on out, just NonStop comedy. I remember. Is the sausages on the piano thing that daddy, would you like? Tom Green is not is not that that great in it? It's God, I'm blank on the guy's name. The guy plays his father called character actor like super like I feel like a fucking idiot for not remembering his name right now,

Oh, character actors are there for you to forget their names. Fair enough, fair enough, but like he's incredible. Like the interplay between the two of them and the way it escalates. I think it is actually pretty well done. And there's just a scene in that movie where Tom Wreens goes, I got these jewels for you. It just like gives this girl like there's at least fucking bag of jewelry, like just stones, not rings, just like here it's a bag of Like it's just fucking stupid. That's a

dumb fucking movie. Man. You want to talk about the trials and tribulations of the podcast host. Here, I am thinking, I'm just going to put Colin Quinn in the thumbnail for this thing. And now I have a decision to make Colin Quinn. Do I go Google Colin Quinn SNL we can update? Or sure, do I google time? I mean sausages piano. It's your front runner right now. I think let's get Colin Quinn is due. Yeah, I don't know, stay tuned. I mean, by the

time you hear this, you will have seen the image already. But comics love him. Comics like worship comic Quinn. I'll change it after the fact. Really, that's it's because probably the reason I don't like him is just he's so dark and self deprecating, and but that can be good if done well. I think comics like him that that Tough Crowd show, and that was on Comedy Central for a while. It was all just like bringing on kind of unknown comics or you know, under the radar comics and pretty cool

thing back then. I mean all all comedy comes from that place of oh yeah sure, And that's why I think comics like him. Yeah. He just lets it out. Yeah, he verbalizes the things that everybody else wants to say. Yeah, comics are just largely very depressed people. Oh totally. Yeah, It's like that's the coping mechanism, right boy, what are the light and cheery start we are off too on this podcast? Yeah, comedy and video games it's the the two halves of the Hey, but everybody

that's your favorite comedy video game podcast. We're here to yuck it up by the latest happenings in the world of video games. Let's get crazy. Now here's the bozo himself, Brad Shoemaker. Go. They're concerningly good at that. It's really depressing. I was thinking about the two halves of you know,

the sort of Greek theatrical dramatic tradition. Okay, yeah, you got your comedy mask and you got your video video game mass Yeah no, I have the laugh now Cry later tattoo on my forearm, just like everyone else. Would be the majora's mask, wouldn't it right, Yes, of course that stupid thing. Jeff say that, well done. That'd be the frowny one. That'd be the video game one mass fun, video game one. Let's talk about video games, Jeff, all right please. And the other

one is the crash bandicube mask. Yeah, yeah, I know that. That guy looks part of the UGA. Let's look at the guy's got his name just Ka Booga. He does have it, he does. What about the the Ka Booga the shaman guy from Battle Tests also wearing a mask? What about everyone in Viva Pinata? Those aren't masks? We all humans are wearing masks, right, what about what do they hide from? Bancho KAZOOI yeah, that guys are right. The Cox of party Wow, Rare knows

their masks yep. Jeff, Hello video games? What about him? Did you play something? Oh? Sure, yeah, I mean let's let's talk about it. Okay, Yeah, let's see geez. Uh yeah, I don't know. I'm gonna fiddling around with a little bit of this, a

little bit of that. Uh yeah, you know. It's but we've kind of, you know, there hasn't been There wasn't a whole lot out over the last week, so I've kind of just been messed around with stuff like I'm kind of reaching the end of my time with uh stuff like far Cry, which I kind of stuck with and finished again and and now I think I'm finally wrapped up with that for for keeps. He's It's funny because they released that new DLC, which I played once and went like, whatever I

heard, it was not great. It depends on what you want to do, you know. It's it's like a it starts like there's a lot of custom vo, like there's new Pagan men vo like to kind of setting up the thing. But it's like it's a half hour like perma death mode, where like you kind of you know, if you get out there and do side stuff and take over take over outposts and stuff, you get more time.

But it's like it's basically you getting from point A to point B, but if you don't do a much stuff on the way there, when you get to point B, they might blow up the helicopter that you're trying to use to escape, and so you can take over outposts as you're trying to escape the prison. Yeah, so no, it's not the prison. It's just a it is a it's an island section. It is not it's not a reskin of the the story mode Escape from that prison. Uh, it's

it's nothing like that. So the same map, it is not the same map as that prison. It as you wake up at the top of a tower, run down the tower, and try to get to where you're going. You start unarmed. You start with a pistol, you start with a

flare gun. Actually, but when I did it, like you you walk down the flight of stairs, there's a dead body with a pistol on it right there, So okay, you kind of go from there, and then I died and tried it a couple more times, got a little further, and I was just like, you know what, this isn't like speed Far Cry is not at all interesting to me. So your time, Yeah, set up cool multi kills. Yeah, so, I mean it's very different from the main game. Like I'll give them that. I just don't think

it's much fun. So so that maybe is accelerating me being done with with Far Cry form. If you guys get the Shredder in that game, no know what I'm talking about. Yes, that Weapony, isn't it. That's it's a submachine gun. There's there's one called like the buzz or something to one of those. I don't know why I would ever buy another gun after the Shredder though, Like, holy shit, that's like it's three hundred is really expensive. But like the description basically says like, yeah, here's the

best gun in the game. It's like it's it's super accurate, it's super powerful, and it's silenced. Oh wow, Like what else do you need? That's great? Yeah, that sounds good. Like every guy goes down in one burst from it. It's super easily is like a three round burst thing. I think it might actually shoot full atto. Okay, biggest thing is there's not as much smg ammo lying around from what I can tell, so I've been running out of amo for it some but I just probably need

to craft the ammo bag finally. Yeah, that would work. There's also one of the signature weapons in that game is a is an assault rifle that's I think fullatto unsilenced, but that you have to get to like fucking rank ten in the arena. Which who's gonna get do that? Yeah? Yeah, this just opens up as part of the story. Yeah, yeah, it seems stupid powerful. Did anyone ever finish the Shangar live stuff? I put him together? Need to do that? I just want to. I

want to see how it plays out. But I got like three or four of those done out of the five, but I really don't like those sections. Yeah, it occurred to me that I don't know about you, but I have been playing that game off and on for two months. Yeah, how is it even possible? Yeah? Yeah, I mean that's yeah, yeah, oh yeah, sure it is. But like when you talk about, like, oh, the November games have kind of like I don't want to say they've worn out their welcome, but they've kind of run their course.

We're not playing Mordor no, you know, no, yeah, and I might. I had a Destiny epiphany. Yes, I don't want to play that game ever again. Ever. Yeah, but I bought that season past though. Yeah, I don't care. We're entitled to more content. I don't actually care because I made this realize. I had this realization that maybe actually applies to every video game that is treated as a service gone.

None of it fucking matters. Nothing in that game matters at all. Like there are people out there going like, well, I've got to get the Icebreaker this weekend because it's the best gun in the game. And I just realized that. You know, by the time I give a shit about Destiny again, they will have trivialized so much of the past content that it will be an easier ramp. So why fucking bash my head against trying to find shards, because by the time I get around to playing it again, all

that gear will be obsolete. Anyway, who fucking cares, They'll find a way to reset it all so you can level it up third time. Yeah, So, so it would be a waste of time for me to even upgrade this armor, they'd be a waste of talk for me to ever do anything ever, because they're always just gonna replace it with more ship. We're getting go the root of some very deep philosophical issues here. Yeah, with

the video games, embrace nothingness. They added they said, like, hey, guys, we added new stuff to the end of the hard mode raid. Yes, well that's that's where all the primary weapons are. So nobody's gotten any of these, right, Okay, so sure, I guess that's a little different that. But they're gonna roll out next stuff. They'll raise the level cap and as part of that it'll probably be it's like, oh, it's just thirteen coins to get the startering piece for the second expansions gear.

Like, okay, fine, when I get back into Destiny, it's not gonna like penalize me for not having played Destiny. Yeah you can. None of that shit fucking matters, you know. I would I would say that doing the raid once would be worthwhile for you, But beyond that, I would like to see it. Yeah That's what I'm saying. But yeah, I would be interested in seeing that content. The end of the value

for you is seeing the raid but not playing it again. But it's not so interested in it that I feel like because right now, being whatever level twenty nine, like having to go like, okay, well I have to go grind out some reputation so that I can get another chest, and then I need to level up this chest like not worth it, not fucking worth her. So yeah, I found myself playing Diablo three. I see on

the PC. I see, And then that didn't really work out for me either, Yeah, because I actually leveled past my PC character on the PS four it turns out I forgot. But yeah, I was just like I was looking at my PC, going, what the fuck do I even have installed on this thing anymore? And then realized that, like, oh yeah, the Battleneck client is here. It's like, okay, well it's uninstalled

Hartstone because fuck that. And then realized Diablo three was there. It's like, oh, let's run that a little bit, and yeah, all right, that's the dilemma of the lute driven game. It's true where more content is introduced. I understand this this. Okay, So this happened over the last week. I believe it is over the last seven days. I now understand how the Sphere Grid, and finally Fantasy ten. Whoa wow, okay, that is what do you think of it? I think it's fucking terrible.

Man, it's wrong with you. That's a great play. If you want to tell me. When that game came out, there were a lot of games that had a lot of bad fucking skill trees. So here's another one. I don't think it will give it to you. Games didn't even really have like so I RPGs didn't even Yes, I would give it so yeah as something that like, you know, okay, in Japan, they didn't necessarily play a lot of games with skill trees and that sort of stuff.

So here's their their spin on it. I will grant you that. But if you're gonna sit here and tell me in twenty fifteen that the Sphere Grid was anything more than total fucking bullshit, it's like a you are fucking crazy. It's like a skill tree and you get to play a board game at the same time. It is the worst board game in the world. Come on. Last time I played it was in like two thousand and three, but I remember thinking, like, this is a cool smart system.

Was neat Yeah exactly. I enjoyed you want you want to see bullshit? Go crack open Final Fantasy thirteen. No, look at what they did to the sphere grid in that game. They made it three D. I'll fuck that, Like remember, like you know three D Chess from Star Trek. Yeah, it's like that. No, it's like they took they took the sphere grid and added layers to it. It was terrible. It took me hours of fucking with it and going like I don't even I'm not even sure,

Like why can't I spends points here? What can't you spend points here? Wow? What governs how I move? I don't remember a lot of the specifics. I just I remember thinking it was kind of cool. It's not it's fine. It's makes you, makes you, forces you to make some hard choices about how you want to build your cares. Not really though, I mean, like any any any skill tree does that, Like that information could be presented any more concise and direct manner. Is what I want?

Is what I am telling. That may be true, it's been a long time, like that thing is a cockamami fucking roundabout passive garbage again, though, you got you gotta think of the context of the JRPG genre at the time. Oh yeah, they're always I mean, yes, the whole genres garbage, so why not put the system into them? Like fine, totally, yes, I thought it was all right, but holy shit.

So that that is the part as as my as my girlfriend plays through Final Fantasy ten, I am in charge of the sphere grid, like you make the choices. We have agreed upon the directions we're heading, okay to build, So I'm only playing the sphere grid. Okay, so you just like you do you just get the controller as soon as it comes up. Yeah, yeah, like I'm doing something else. And then she's like, you

need to sphere grade me. It's like all right, fine, and I'm going through and spending all the points like okay, well okay, this guy's got two hundred more hit points and now okay, yeah we were not we're not too thunder Raga yet, but we're getting there. Should get there. It's yeah, it's a good place to be. How are you building Teitos. We're heading in the direction of Hastaga right now. Well, Lulu, I seem to remember that being pretty good. Lulu has her second set of

spells and we're heading towards the three. Are you guys going for any of the Ultimate weapons or are you deep in enough for that? Yeah? No, I don't think so. It's were at the second Seymore fight, I guess more. Okay, that's I think it's pretty far in right. I have no fucking ideas is that when you kill him for real? Uh no, you find him four times over the course four times? I think you

think so. I don't know. I haven't seen the last part of that game, but I when I looked it up and when I said like, oh, let's look up this fight is like it was not clear which version of c Moore was. I only played that game once. It's been a

while. The voice acting, there's a I mean, yeah, it's like and playing it now, I mean I never held that game in high regard and also did not play it when originally came out, But coming to it now like it is clunky ash Yeah yeah, I know, sure, But you know at the time, like the voice acting and all that stuff,

you just look at it like there are some things about it. I'm playing the playing on the PS three and it's like, okay, well, actually, you know, there's some aspects of the production and presentation aspect of this.

This is actually somewhat impressive, but like whoever created these like Cloister of Trials sections and all this shit like just bogging down this game with even more fucking garbage, or like at some point you really see the this notion of like, well it needs to be a forty hour, right, I mean it's coming out of the genre where like like dozens of hours is somehow like like a dozens of hours to complete these games is like a batch of honor

for some reason, we're used to be We need to get the destructions fares. I put this one in the wall and it just vaporized. What's your guys understanding of why Titus's dad in that game turns into like a demon whale when it turns into sin yeah, white, what happens there? I just remember fighting a whale and it said it was my dad, and then I was a ghost or something. It's not your dad, it's your old man. Oh okay, my old man was a real dick. I'm gonna tell

you again in first person. I've got my old man. I'm gonna tell you a story and then you're gonna hear me as a kid as if my fucking adult voiceover couldn't be annoying enough. You'll hear kid me being a real piece of shit. Oh my god, this fucking game. I don't know. At the time, it wasn't you know, how good is the voice acting? It was holy crap, Final Fantasy he has that that was a

big deal. I mean, yeah, I don't want to take anything away from the achievements of when it was originally released, Like games weren't doing that stuff, they they because that was like one years the PS two. It would have been the second holiday season of the Pills two. That was the same as like GTA three and Middle Gear two. Like that was a fucking holiday season and that was Halo. Yeah, okay, yeah, two thousand and one. Yeah that was huge. Yeah that was a big year.

Yeah, totally. Like I yeah, I don't want to take away from what it achieved in its era, but I'm saying someone someone coming to it now. Aroon is the only interesting character. It's because his arm is a sling, just like Fresh Kid Ice from two Last Cruise. Arm is in a sling and he carries around a juggle liquor all the time. Yeah, yeah, it's pretty cool. His arm must hurt, and the giant sword because you never know when you're gonna need one. It's cool fucking glasses or

the other. That dude seems all right, yeah he's cool everybody else, fuck everyone, But yeah, I tried to play that that remake last year, and yeah, like three hours into it and I was like, this does not hold up. I can't, I don't. I would rather not sully my memory of this. I'm just gonna stop. How did the cut scenes hold up? Because I remember being blown away by that first one where sins coming up, it comes out of the blitz ball thing is still decent.

I remember stuffed to look at it, like it looks pretty good, but I think a lot of the faces look really fucking bad. Yeah. Uh. And that's the sort of stuff that like, you know, obviously that technology is progressed, but you look at it now and it's like, specially you have like cg tightest face and and well is it tical? It sounds stupid, but that's that's what it is. It's dumb fucking water soccer.

Yeah, dumb motherfucker all right? Uh yeah, yeah, So you end up in cases where like I think that cgi fucking pre rendered Tedis face looks terrible. It looks like a chipmunk or something, okay, and then in game Titos face is like, okay, well that's recognizable as a video game protagonist. That works out. But a lot of the faces and in the in the cut scenes, I think, look, uh, kind of bad. I was gonna say something about that game, and I've forgotten what

it was. Is it are que to move on? Yeah? Probably don't fancy all the overdrive element reels and Waka's a real piece of shit. Did you play ten too? Because I made it like thirty minutes into the game. I feel like I watched it thirty it seemed pretty terrible. I it's fancy service. I mean, you know, it's like all of a sudden, like what the is going on? Stuff was all right, It's just

it clashed so much with the tone of ten that makes me. I mean, like, this is the thought of ten two having like this sort of like fuck it fan service thing to it. I think puts a lot of Final Fantasy ten, the developers intentions and a lot of stuff into stark relief where you're just like, oh, they don't really give a shit, Like it's just like, oh, they're just like whatever. They just want to tell into the story without his characters, so they just gend up like whatever,

fine, you know. I mean it was one thing that the tone was very distinctive in or kind of incongruous, But the bigger problem was that they they basically undid everything with emotional impact that they did at the end of ten. You know, it probably seems like that game shouldn't have been called ten two if it had just been like, you know, here's our dumb

pop star fan service Final Fantasy tens. You know, like they're bringing back character, bringing characters back to life whose deaths were supposed to be emotionally resonant in ten you know, who cares and they're just like they're they're life. Whatever. Yeah, it's dumb. You want to play this game? We wanted to make it. I don't know, right, the assets were done, we did, you know, the assets and the engine were costly. Let's just another game out of it. Yeah, I don't know. Uh,

yeah, I didn't. I didn't put it in news, but there was a new guy running uh or I mean, it wasn't really a new story. I just saw some stuff about it. It's like it just happened, but there's a there's a new guy officially running Final Fantasy. Now, yeah, I thought of that because Cliff Plazinski. Yep, it's just about to make that Joke's weird, that's the exact name. I'm just about to say, weird being maze tell often that starts happening. Uh yeah, Like

I feel like ten was. Somebody will probably angrily correct me on this, but like ten was sort of the last big outing of kind of the old Final Fantasy guard if that makes sense, right, yeah, yeah, But like eleven was an MMO, so that was made by different people, right, Twelve was made by Matsnou who was the Tactics guy and was set in the Tactics universe, and then thirteen was this weird mishmash like whatever. But I feel like ten was like the culmination of that whole like PlayStation era of

of Final Fantasy games. Oh sure, and they kind of never got past it, you know. Yeah, like they've tried to recreate it in some ways. They never got past seven. If you if you really want, you know, like like that's it's still the game people want, like for as much as people enjoy ten and have their favorites, like a lot of people like eight, a lot of people like nine. Whatever. It is like they have been completely unable to get past seven. And it's I think

that a lot of people have been able to unable to past seven. I don't think, yeah, that's not but yeah, sure, yeah, but it's just the people whose first RPG was Final Fantasy seven. Sure, totally

yeah for that game. Yeah uh, And they should probably just actually do the real remake of that game, Like when you think about it, like you think about the reasons they don't do it, being that they would have to start from scratch and produce all new high res models for these characters, redo all the cg Like, you know, the expense that they would put into that game would be on par with developing an all new Final Fantasy Games.

Yeah, I think. But don't you think a proper remake of Final Fantasy seven would sell at least as well, if not better than another numbered Final Fantasy sequel? Maybe, Like that's that seems like the you know, like for a company that has been on the brink of disaster and seems to occasionally do things that are pretty financially motivated, whatever, their company, every company, but you know you can't. You can't bet the farm if you're in that risky position. You know, I feel I can't make this.

They still need the capital up front to fund this shirt, they still need to bake the investment. But the lowest risk investment they could make is, hey, we remade Final Fantasy seven? Is it? You saw the fucking people at that thing in Vegas flip out as soon as that PC version made it the screen, before they realize they were being duped. I guess, But how many of those people actually are there? I mean, how many of those? But but like, how many people? How many people care

about an all new Final Fantas? How many? Well, not many? Like thirteen three years, whereas like how many people would you drag back in that don't care about model current Final Fantasy? Maybe by saying you're making seven, play I play a new seven just to see what's up. It's like, hey, we made the snowboarding better. I would be curious to see it. I guess I have no interest in like the thirteen stuff they're doing now, but I would plays done. That's done. They put a lid

on that. Yeah, Like I just I'm surprised that that that that that company hasn't actually revisited that stuff in the right and in the way that people seem to want them to. The ship may have sailed at this point, is the Yeah, probably, Like, but every generation of consoles, it gets more and more expensive to make games because the level of fidelity and stuff is going up. But at the same time, like then you're saying the ship is sailed on a big numbered Final Fantasy game as well, because like,

you know, it's the same money. Well yeah, but well you know who knows what they're doing with fifteen to minimize costs or make it more efficient for this type of playing a web browser. Yeah, part of it, the snowboarding part runs in unity. The rest is that's fair. Just flash that demo is coming out in a couple of months so we can find

out or heard something about that game being like a road movie. Yeah, I feel like that immediately makes me like, if that's what the fact game is, that immediately makes me want to not that gonna be humorous in the same way. Sure, even the idea of a road trip, I mean, if you think about it being at the core or the Final Fantasy game, But like At the same time, isn't every single Final Fantasy game like sort of a road drill? Like more explicitly, I think more explicitly,

the characters are in a car driving on highways. I don't know the car. Can the car get a flying upgrade? When some mechanic names SID comes by. They come by and go like, I put wings out of your car, and then they install a drill on the front of the car and then you can go into the earth. Yeah, I mean sounds exciting. Yeah, so you'll see Final Fantasy tens to its conclusion. I don't I

don't know. Somebody in your house will maybe, oh does that not even as sured at some point she might actually just go like that, which has almost happened a couple of Wow, has she played it before? Well, I guess said, you know that's that's that was my response about three hours in. So yeah, who knows? Is that it? Yeah? I think I think it might actually, but they slow month be it? Not a lot going on? Yeah? Well, so, well we played sports ball around here, yes, which is out in the w U E Shop.

Yes. Uh, that's like like joust to put some sports stuff. I'm not a huge fan of it. It's got a really good song. Yeah, yeah, that songs good. I also bought Meme Run, which we've been meming to do a quick look though. Pretty soon here, pretty good. That game is a real shit factory I had when I was watching you play it, I had to admire their gusto though. Yeah, they make that thing as rotten with memes as they possibly can. I guess.

I mean, it's like it's not even yeah, at some point, it's just like it's the montage style, right, It's like the presence of the memes themselves. It's not funny, it's that they went so far with it. It's like a Bobo's Big Adventure, but for Reddit memes, I guess, you know, it's just like here's you know, Illuminati signs and big you know, Rainbow Dancing frogs and then you know Hit Marker, you know Call of Duty Gun Hit Marker stuff, And I want to know what a

Bobo's Big Adventure. That's a flash Oh my god, you should play it. It's like just the biggest love letter to the nes. So you play as a Bobo and yeah it's free flash game and you play through just like every like all the sprites and stuff from every ans game you could ever imagine, like a punch out fight. I think it's the last boss. Like it's it's really really good. I've waited so long to play as a bobo. Yeah, we'll find whatever any s Double Dragon mode b man. Really

Yeah, it was a shitty fighting game. Wow. And you could play as weird anys a Bobo, which is just a fucking scary prospect anyway you look at it. Speaking of a Bobo. Double Dragon Trilogy is out on Steam. Oh yeah, I took a look at that. Uh dot mu uh dot emu. It's a developer that's done some some emulation style ports and stuff like that to iOS in the past. This just appears to be something that they probably did for iOS and Android uh dumped out on the PC for

four bucks. What versions are they? Arcade? So it's a weird So it's arcade art, but it'll run it any resolution and like it's it's they're doing weird stuff to it where it's not it's you know, the music cues don't line up, like they're not emulating the games in a purely faithfully fashion. They've made parted it and made changes or see it that's kind of what it seems like. I don't know what's going on under the hood with it,

but you know, you're not coining up, you know. And then they have like an arcade and story mode option in there, which I have no idea what the difference between those two things that even would be. But I mean the arcade version, I had all the story anybody could handle exactly, let's be honest. Totally. Yeah, So they're weird, they control a little funky, and but it was a good reminder that Double Dragon three

is that we're talking about that on this show. Really now you said that all the needs to be said to make me want to talk about Double Dragon three, So please commence. Boy, what a terrible fucking game is it? Yeah? Isn't the one that had different characters you could pick from you didn't pick from them? Well, it probably depending on which version you played.

I'm talking about the arcade version, which had a store where you could literally drop in an extra quarter to buy power ups and stuff like that. Holy shit, that's where it came up in a quick look. Yeah, we were talking about Double Dragon three. Did it come out on the Yeah, that was totally different game that was the game that it says Bimmy and Jimmy Lee in it, and it's a fucking weird but yeah, the Arcade game was not like one and two. It didn't have the elbow, so

fuck that game. It had like you could run. It had like crazy weird animation that was trying to be a little more realistic, like it looked like Trade West made it if I guess it just has that look. Or there are other Playboo characters besides the Lea's, yeah, two others. So how it would work is you would go in the shop and you would buy

what it's called extra guys. You would put in a quarter and and buy extra guys, and then when your Lee brother died, you would get a Kickboxer or some of these other you know, those ambulther characters that were in it, and it was ridiculous. You'd also buy nunchucks, which didn't have range on them in this because they used them like they were real nunchucks. They're just whipping around. This is silly. This is not why I bought these. Great it's a four dollars. Yeah, it's on sale right now.

I think it's somewhere around four. But whole trilogy. Yeah, I still I don't. I don't like what they did to those games. I probably wouldn't recommend picking it up. If you're looking for faithful Double Dragon, it doesn't seem like that. This is what it's come to, Dark Days of January. If you want faithful Double Dragon. Talking about ports of Double Dragons, you need to play Station four. Oh yeah, because its version. Yes, Hampster has emulated the arcade version of Double Dragon, just the

first one though. Yes, And if you have eight dollars in a Japanese account eight hundred and twenty yen, don't don't. Actually that's too much money to pay for an emulation. And like a Double Dragon emulator, what if it came out of here, it would still be like that, but then you wouldn't have to fiddle with the Japanese account. Yeah, I mean, maybe's a little bit easier. Maybe it's worth it. That seems like that seems like one that should have come out here. What was the other one?

Maybe the only one that's come out in the US. Double Dragon probably plays in the US better than anything else they make. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I would not be shocked to see that come over. Gradius is supposedly coming to Peace four pretty soon here too. So that's an okay version of that. I don't think I've ever seen that. Yeah, it's it's the okade version. Let's just still got the MOI heads, m yep, Easter Islands and space weird game. Yeah, okay, Dan, Yes got

out of hill? Yes, you got out of hill? Presumably I did. I escaped. Let's talk about it. It's a new Saints Row product, it is. It's a standalone thing. It comes with the re elected edition of Saints Row four on the new consoles, or you can just download it by itself on you know whatever console. What is it twenty Yeah, I don't know. The game stop had a listing for five Yeah. I

think that. I don't know if that was a mistake. I got corrected pretty quickly, but I think some people did manage to order it for five bucks, which it seems more appropriate. Maybe it's more appropriate than what I've seen. It's you know, it's not bad. You know, I gave

it three stars in the review. Uh, it's it's more Saints. I just kind of felt that with the Shift to Hell, you know, this whole new setting and everything they could have done a lot more to it, and it really just kind of feels like more of the same like powers and ship from four, Like it's almost identically the same powers. Like you can just straight up fly, right, that's you can fly and you get these you can upgrade how many flaps you get which speed you up and get up

to five. So it's nice to soar around and like, you know, I'm kind of a completionist with stuff, so I had a lot of fun just flying around getting orb clusters and stuff like that. You know, wound up spending seven hours with it, got close to one hundred percent and kind of mainline the story and maybe two hours, maybe closer to three. But yeah, it's like all the diversions and stuff are just little tiny tweaks on stuff that we've already seen for years, like which I mean, that's the

stuff that four did by taking it into like computer land or whatever. You know. The whole thing was like, oh, we're amping up and making the things from three weird, and to do that again seems crazy. Yeah, and it's it's not particularly funny or that fun or different to play. Like, you know, insurance fraud is now torment fraud, so you're playing is these you know, souls in hell and trying to get years shaved off your sentence or whatever. But it plays the exact same as insurance fraud.

So yeah, there's not a whole lot of new stuff outside. Like the flying stuff is pretty cool, but but I don't like not being able to customize my character at all. So I mainly played as Kncy. You can play as Kenzi or Gat, but how do you switch. You just go to the old Tour Corporations tower and you can just hit wire or whatever and

it switches between him. But that's one of my favorite things about Saints It is like I remember playing all of Saints Row the third co op, and we were the nark guys, like we were able to buy like the motorcycle helmets and stuff, and I was a red guy, he was blue guy. And I just love, you know, being able to customize. People get way into that stuff, and it's like one of the selling points of

Saints Row to me at this point. For me, the selling point is is the characters and the kind of the quality of the writing and stuff around it. So it's you know, like I didn't get too into customizing. Like when I think about my version of the Boss. He's got you know, triple H facial hair, like you know, motorhead shops and dreads and he's a fucking weird though. But you know, like whatever teaches own. So I'm not that didn't necessarily like put me off of this like that you

were playing his fixed characters. For me, it was specifically that I think Johnny Gatt is lame. He is, Yeah, and it's no different here. That's why I played as Kenzie most of the times. I like her. Yeah, is actually kind of like my favorite character from yeah, from those games. So yeah, but yeah, but even like clothing stuff,

you can't can't alter any of that stuff. But you know, a lot of the bigger mechanics and like progression stuff is there, Like you're upgrading all your weapons and stuff, and there there's a lot of new like hell weapons and things. You're upgrading your character, you're collecting the soul clusters and upgrading your powers and stuff like that. Stuff is still fun to do, but

it's it's just stuff that you've done several times before. You know. There's no radio stations, no customization, they you know, some little things I had to do considering the scope of the game. No radio stations, what you get in a car. Well, first of all, you don't ever need yeah why would you? But yeah, you know, outside of the kind of scenes where it turns into a damn musical, I don't remember hearing any I don't think there's no music in it. I like standards claimer.

I only played the very beginning of it before it came in, like the first thirty forty five minutes or something. But like it feels incredibly flat and lifeless for a Saints ro game. Yeah, that's the impression I got, you know, we did that quick look, and I've been kind of watching you play it here and there. Yeah, it just seems like the world, Yeah, the world in particular feels super it's lifeless because everybody's dead, but like it just seems like the most like bone stock to take on.

Hell's like there's lava, like yeah, all right, but like just nothing going on, you know, like there's nothing to look at in the city. Like it doesn't feel lively. It's not an entertaining place to be the way that like Steelport was and that kind of thing. All the pedestrians are like the same, just kind of lifeless, hust right now, right, Yeah, there's there's not not not much personality in that world at all. Yeah, which is like it's like maybe the most damning thing you could say

about a Saints Row game is there's not that much personality. Yeah, you know it. Meat Loaf is not in it though. No, no's that's that's unfortunate. It's just like it again, I haven't seen the whole thing, but the first impression is that it feels kind of low rent in a way. Does that makes sense, Yeah, Like it feels like through it, it seems like that. Yeah. There's lots of little technical issues and stuff, like we saw plenty of flick frame rate drops. There's frame rate

stuff. There's like all kinds of weird little bugs and like transitional issues that happen. Yeah, like if you end a diversion while you're flying, it'll just like really quickly just put you on the ground and like cut to a quick like one screen, or like if you fallow yeah yeah, yeah, and stuff like that, like like if you fall in lava, it's not actually lava that you fall into, it's just like your character just lands on

it like it's ground and then the screen fades to black. Like, well, it's just ground with a lava texture on it, and then it cuts you do upgrade like things so you can run run lava. Yeah right, but but still like it just the fit and finish like those games have always you know, open world Jank or whatever aside, those always felt like pretty slick productions to me. The first couple had a lot Okay, well technically, let's let's say the three and four define like the modern era a lot

better. Yeah, like starting at three, like, those games have felt very slick to me, And to see this one, it's more Jay than three. Like it's just kind of like the seams are showing all over it from what I could see. Yeah, and I guess, like you know, on some level, I was I was hoping for better performance on these console vers over you're playing on Xbox One, and yeah, just didn't seem to run that great. Yeah, I mean it didn't look any better than

in the last jan or anything. So yeah, that's a shame. Like, if anything, it almost makes me wonder if the ambition of this thing outstripped the budget they had for it, because like to build a whole, a whole new open world that hasn't been seen before on in a game that's only going to retail for at most twenty dollars or free with another package. It seems insane, Like they didn't even do that for four, which ended

up being a full price release. You know, Yeah, this isn't just steel Port but Lava, Like it's a new city, new assets, new stuff. But to try to do that on this like shoestring budget or whatever

that they probably had to get this thing done, I don't know. It seems like it just feels stretched really thin from what I've seen of it, and there's not really like real story missions, Like there's a couple, but mostly it's like, hey, do all these diversions for different people in Hell until you unlock a cut scene and then move on from the next set of diversions. Yeah. Like I did the black Beard one before I turned it

off, and I was like, really, that's it. Yeah. I know, there's like a loyalty mission for each historical figure that unlocks after you do it, but like, based on what I got from doing the initial black Beard mission, I was like, I don't really want to follow up with him, Like there's just nothing there. Yep. It's a weird way to extend the you know, like you've got this pretty hot property on your

hands, Like it's kind of a weird thing to do with that. Yeah, yeah, Saintsburg was such a fucking weird thing, you know, like, yeah, it is a hot property. But it's hard sometimes it's hard to think of it as such. You know, it's it's it's really you know, I mean, they've had their four games, Like I you know, I think one and two are such distant memories that I just don't think that they matter in the conversation anymore. But I think three was outstanding,

especially as a pivot from what two was. It was fucking mind blowing. But then you know, four was was good, but kind of felt like it was coasting a little bit, you know, same city, just everything blue, and then this, you know, like I don't know, it seemed like they were out there talking about wanting to take a break from Saints and now they're owned by Deep Silver and who just bought the IP and the developer, and maybe they're hot to get some of that Saints Row money.

Let's start to wonder like are they gonna just keep pumping out Saints Row or are they gonna really take a break because the ending of Saints Row four leaves things in a place where they could do everything or nothing, right, you know, this follows directly from that. Yeah, this isn't even seems more

like everything. This this seems more like, well, you know, because of the open ended nature of the end of Saints Row four, we can tell any story we want with these characters in any time, in a place and anything. But they actually are establishing this as like there is a chronology after four here because Jane Austen is on the ship with you. Yeah. Yeah, so like they're like, hey, this happened after four, you

know, like right if anything after four? You just kind of wanted, like I has tate to use the word reboot, but like kind of just I still think that it's weird because I still think that that's probably the only

thing they can do totally. You know, you talked about it a bit in the review, this idea of just like how much more can you keep pumping up the crazy incense row and have it still worth They are now a band of space faring adventurers, and also there's no more Earth or human race, so like, I don't know where else you go, Well, what were they hinting at at the end of four with like I don't know who Jane Austin is, but she was dressing like old timey clothes the famous author.

So they but from like the eighteen hundreds or something. If you've heard of sense and sensibility, I've heard these basics. It's the Air Force gator, if it's if it's era, really if that helps? Oh okay, okay, she's well Respectedly, she's well respected, is what I'm saying. Okay, but like eighteen hundreds, right, yes, yeah, so they were they were hinting at some kind of time travel stuff there, see that would be more forget how that came into How did that even enter the story?

Well, it's like by the time you when you finish four, the narrator, Yeah, like she hadn't turned out to be the narrator the whole time. But I don't remember what how time travel even came into it. They pull out in such a way that like, you know, you kind of breaking out of the cyber simulation or whatever, like you're able, Like you by beating those aliens, you're able. I think you uncover sometimes just time or whatever. Okay, and you're able to kind of do your thing.

That was the kind of the thought coming out of that one was like, well, if they continue, the story will have to be some kind of like Saints through the Ages type thing, right, So yeah, you end up in that situation where it was like, okay, well, each game, you know, they could do a series of one offs, like Get Out of Hell, where it's like, you know, here's this ragtag group of misfits, you know, trapsing their way through time and space and

they end up in these different situations. So here's our Hell one, here's our Mafia one. You know, like they could have gone down that road. Maybe they still will, which was funny. In three, the third one, they did the thing where like all of a sudden you're back in like a fifty sitcom basically, and that walk animation like that stuff. That was well done. Yeah, sure it was well done, But that's well done is like a you know, it's a one off thing. You couldn't

make a whole fifty sitcom game. Yeah, and also you could actually but not you know, was that three or four? That was four? Yeah, that's right. Was at the beginning of that. You get knocked out when you're the President. That's right. But at a certain point, even if you're doing like sort of historical settings, it kind of turns into a parody of Assassin's Creed at a certain point, which sounds they could do some stuff with that. Yeah, I guess there's there's Yeah, there's definitely something

to be wrung out of that, for sure. God, I don't know, it's tough. That actually would be pretty good, yeah, but but not necessary, you know. And it's one of the things where it's like, yeah, when when they get back to kind of mainline, make make a big core game, it probably needs to be more than something like that. It would need to encompass multiple times, or it would need to yeah, reboot it. Like I I just don't think I don't think they can

get away with like this continuing storyline going. You know, just like we turned up the juice on the crazy meter and now it's really well even even like just mechanically, just in terms of what you're doing from minute to minute. I kind of miss like having a reason to go jack cars and stuff, like I'm missing driving. That's one of the things that was so cool. And the third was, you know, having the phone. The guys are just delivering ilock this weird like tron tank, right, and you're driving

that around like free? You ever do that in four? Or get out of help? Three was a great, great happy medium of like, well, you still need to drive, and you still need to go steal cars from time to time, but also we're just gonna make it so you can have all your favorite cars at all. Yeah, I mean three was well. I mean, if you break it down, three was just better at making you think you weren't totally invincible, even though you pretty much are sure

games are not difficult, you know. And then four is like you're literally jumping over buildings at total points, yeah, you know three to get like a hoverbike or whatever, and that seemed more fun than just the inventibility stuff, I guess. So yeah, I don't know, Like, but at the same time, I think like going back and just like, well we took you know, the continuing the next chapter in this story is we re rooted these characters back in reality. Like that doesn't work. I just I

don't think it does. That's that's why I almost feel like you have to

start something new. Yeah, like you almost you have to have to kind of toss it out and hope for the best, and maybe you kind of have a wink and nod like, oh, they decided to reset all of reality, So you know, if they actually just went back and retold the story of Saints Row one, but with their kind of newfound story chops and you know, some of the gameplay sensibilities they applied to the later games, Like, I actually think that could work in a weird way, as if

anyone cares about the storyline or characters of Saints Row one or two, uh, you know, not, none of that shit really matters. So but I think that there's probably something they could get out of that. I just don't know if they need to. Yeah, yeah, I don't know where they go from here. That's that's a that's that to me seems like a difficult road for for that developer. And I'm sure that there's probably someone there that is thought much longer about this than I have and has come to some

kind of conclusion about it one way or the other. Hopefully they have a good idea for it. Hopefully they have time to execute on it right probably, Yes, you know, it seems like between Saints Row and Dead Island, like Deep Silver's just kind of been cranked stuff out. Yeah, in these popular franchise some of that, some of that Dead Island stuff has been pretty rough. Yeah. Well, like I said, this does not This

does not make a great first impression either. Yeah. Yeah, even four would have been better if, like the original plan was that Entered the Dominatrix DLC. Well, it sounds like it sounds like what Ford ended up becoming was much bigger in scope than what that thing was. Yeah. I remember Rubin saying that, like he saw what they were doing with Enter the Dominatrix and he said, like, oh, this needs to be a full game. But honestly, I would have liked it more as I can get out

of help. But I saw the balance sheet and said, no, I really like four. Yes, I really like four. Well, like, what's the standard line now they out Crackdown? Crackdown. It was a fun superhero game. I don't enough there was enough good material in it. Yeah, I thought it was just the romance options and the way they handle that stuff is hilarious. The places they go with their cameos and stuff works really

well. Like, you know, they get a lot out of the writing, They get a lot out of the guests and the stuff that is kind of on the periphery of you know, most other video games. Like they're they're really good at making that stuff core and meaningful. It's a real shame that this new thing doesn't have any of that. Yeah, Like there's not a lot to it mechanically or like the you know, they're not really bringing their chops. Yeah, they're not bringing what's unique to Saints Row to it.

Really. I mean, when it comes down to it, Roddy Roddy Piper is more interesting than Johnny Gatt. Yes, you know, yeah, and I'll agree to that. Like if if they you know, you can almost there you go, there's your reboot plan. Yeah, he's the star of the game, okay, as himself. They live the game? Sure, why not? He's wearing the kilt, yeah, whole game. Yeah, if they did, they live the game, that would be the best excuse to have like a Batman vision mode, just put the glasses on.

Yep, it'd be awesome. Oh man, that would really want that game? Yeah, man, Open World, I think I think, yeah, I think you could take you know, you could take the they live concepts and apply it in a way that we're like Okay, we've made the sequel that they Live Too and guess what, it's a video game and actually make that not shitty. Yeah, it almost seems like parodying or satirizing popular stuff like that might be the best way for them to go. I'm not sure.

I feel like that's what that when they're firing on all cylinders with that stuff, that's when they're at their best, you know, like the parodies of of things like dragging in you know, Keith David. Like the stuff they did there I think was all bur Reynolds was all pretty amazing. Yeah, And so not having any of that to to kind of help drive the story forward probably doesn't help. But you know, I mean, the core of those games are fun too, so you know, they kind of need

to do something there to freshen that end of it up as well. I think if they just said, here's insurance fraud again, but guess what, Polly Shore is going to talk to you the whole time like that's not gonna work. Yeah, that's that's why reason. Colin Quinn, Okay, there, I mean, that's that's why I agree. And I still didn't played that much of it, but why I found what I've played at this thing

to be so disappointing. Is that like even if they didn't bring it on the story and the writing front, you know, Like like you said, I think some people are gonna like that musical stuff more than Dan. I've only seen a little better, to be fair, what I have seen of the like storybook, like Paige churning stuff seemed pretty good. I don't know if that. I don't know where that stuff goes. I haven't seen any

musical numbers like that. Sounds like that could be pretty funny actually, But but the thing I was gonna say was like, even if that stuff isn't as an effect as it usually is, like normally running around in the Saints row game, is still a lot of fun, right, I just haven't found that to be satisfying in this case. Yeah. I felt like kind of towards the end of four, uh like it was it was where that's someone who got everything in four, Like there's like at some point I was

like why am I doing this? Yeah? I mean and this is the exact same thing, you know, except that like the cops that show up are demons instead of cyber yep cyber coop type guys do like that the demon show up and like flame belching, spiked whale monster. Trust that some of that stuff is interesting, but again it's like the monster truck shows up and you're like, oh, that's cool, but everything around it, like everything

about the backdrop of the city is just super boring. Yea, from what I've seen, it just looks like something they didn't have a lot of budget for. You needed to put something out. So yeah, yes, utilized. But that's a good name. It is good. Yeah, Yes, the name is good. Yeah. Sure, and I you know, still totally tells you the whole story of the game. Yeah, I guess. So it goes into Hell. Yeah, but then but then he has to

get out. You got to get out of I love the set up for him going to Hell is nothing more than Johnny Gatt wants to go to Hell and do something. I gotta say the boss so he got I know. But I'm saying like he didn't get sucked into Hell. He didn't look mixed up in any occult stuff. He's just like I'm going to Hell and getting this guy back. I do like that he shot a wage board. Yes, that part that made me all right? Part was the intro is actually

pretty good for that game. You're right, still still plenty of excited to see more Saints real stuff. Just think this thing it feels kind of like a misstep. Yep. Yeah. I mean I haven't really cared much about any of the DLC they've done for three or four because some of that stuff was pretty questionable. This kind of feels like it maybe falls into that camp. Yea. So hopefully when they get back around to making a full game, you know they'll do it. Yeah, Dan, yes, play anything

else? I bet you did. Poo poo Tetris. Yeah, I guess we did play more. That's a damn video game. The Fish is still undefeated here. I don't remember that being the case. Oh, the Fish is undefeated. We have plenty of videos. I'm seeing a crying fish. Oh no, I'm sorry that was Rory when Rory also picked the fish and lost. But on top of that, which is awesome, I've been doing

the adventure mode, which I don't understand at all. Uh, Doctor Dog was mad on my spaceship at one point because I think poo poos were getting on it. Hey when that happens, Yeah, I don't know. Japanese at, So I just hit a a bunch. But outside of that, I talked last week about the Dolphins stuff. Yes, got that working, and it's a billion times better than I would have expected. Just cranked everything up on Galaxy. I almost think it looks better than three D World.

I would have to put him, you know, side by side, but as I mean, it looks gorgeous. You can. I spent hours making sure everything was right, like tinkering around with graphics options and getting a towerque on the Xbox one controller because that was the one thing I couldn't get working is the we moat emulation. I couldn't sink it to my computer. It's a weird Windows eight thing where if you go into Bluetooth settings, it says like, hey, enter the password for this Bluetooth device, But hey,

I can't do that with the we moat. So some people found little hacks to do that, but I learned that I could just do it with an Xbox one controller. So right stick for the I R stuff. Yeah, that was the one thing I never like. I always thought about, Yeah, you could map those controls to a controller, except anything that involved pointing. Just right stick and you're just moving you're just literally moving the moat cursor around the screen with the right stick. That's so weird, like a controller

light gun game. Yeah yeah, and it works fine, like not super slow, like it seems like it's like shooting enemies with it would be maybe a little bit less. You don't have to do that that much in Galaxy. The one thing I'm worried about is like kind of like the Manta ray surfing things. So I put like the tilt controls onto why and be on the face button. So I haven't gotten to one of those yets. We'll

see how that works. But Galaxy isn't bad about motion stuff. So I've been able to play you know, like nine or ten Shines in and you know, like the shake thing that you have to do all the time. I'm sorry, napped to nine or ten what shint stars stars? Thank you? Nine or ten stars? Yes, I'm sorry, I was thinking of that other great marogame. But I've got the shake thing is just X, so to extend my jumps, I just have to hit X instead of shake

a dumb things. Uh yeah, Like all those all those waggle inputs were just a single like effectively a single input anyway, right, yeah, yeah, as well put them on a button. And it's so weird because like, I haven't played any you know, I used to do a lot of emulation stuff with like an S and Super Nintendo, but I never went beyond the sixteen bit era with that. So having like saved states and stuff for a you know, three D relatively recent Mario game is is new to me.

I'm trying not to use it at all. Does it work? Like does everything is? Everything? Like this is probably ancient history. But the last time I looked at Dolphin, they were like there were these weird little caveats like, oh, Mario doesn't have any pupils in the cut scenes or something like that. You know, there used to be stuff like that, and like I guess Galaxy for a long time, the music would cut out, but they've since fixed that, and it is just it's basically all the

term. The only thing that happens is sometimes when the star bits come down, like the asteroids and they shatter and a bunch of star bits come out, there's a little bit of slow down just until the star bits settled down. But outside of that, man, it just looks so fucking good. It's one of those things like you know, like it's all finding good for like playing games and whatever, but like if we look at kind of the emulation and what its real role is is like, this is how we're going

to preserve games well beyond their shelf life. This is this is how these digital only games that are hard to and it's it's unfortunate because it's part of it. And you know, is what we look at now it's piracy we will later look on is like, well that's the only way to see this really super obscure thing and preserve this this super obscure thing. And it's it's awesome that so many different people are like basically volunteering their time to like develop

emulators and and get this stuff along. And you know, I was like playing the newer stuff on it. I think it's always like a it's it's always such a gray area, and playing this stuff seems even extra gray because it is still so recent. Yeah, as he was talking about this stuff, like I bought I bought Rio Mario Galaxy two on the WEIU because they have it on sale, right, And then I was sitting here like,

oh and technically bought it. There is that title me to a license to play it on other things like probably not, no, no, I mean legally, probably not. But like you know, when I've got the actual disc of Mario Galaxy sitting and I don't feel bad about Yeah, it's yeah, everyone has to draw their own lines. I mean, I'm not here to say like, let's be the cops, but you know that stuff is

always so cool, uh and and fascinating. Actually, over the weekend, play a game called mud Pies, which was on the Atari st What what is Mudpies? Uh? So it's a game in which you are a guy and there are a bunch of evil clowns attempting to get you and you have to fling pies at them. Sounds familiar, Yeah, it's it's kind of a clone of food Fight, which was a class arcade game. And yeah, I don't know, I wanted to see some Mudpies because some people in

the comments of some videos you're putting, we're talking about mud Pies. I'm like, watch, you'd probably see what this Mudpies game it's all about, because this is not something that i'd heard of before. And yeah, sure enough, that's that's a pretty decent food Fight clone. But you know, It's like stuff like that would be totally lost to time. Yeahs, who the fuck cares about Mudpies. That's not coming out on like XBLA. Yeah,

the gretty dark reboot Mudpies HD is coming any day now. These fucking clowns are they have it out for you the You gotta watch out these fuckers. Yeah. So just like, you know, being able to just kind of revisit all this different stuff and and do it with relative ease is nice

as well. But you know, just being able to preserve uh, you know, all these rotting fucking e proms and it's like different rom chips and stuff that are just you know, all these CPS two boards that capcom put out that all have batteries on them that eventually die and destroy the board unless you very specifically know how to. You know, if they didn't decrypt, they didn't brute force fucking decrypt CPS two years ago so that they could fucking

put it in emulators and stuff like that ship would be kind of be gone or or would be dwindling in a way. So it's it's it's great that that stuff gets preserved, it's just it does put us in this weird spot

where like it's getting preserved, but it's preserving pretty quickly. Yeah, you know, I don't know not not to make this conversational high fullutin, but if you look at like the early days of film, like a ton of that stuff disappeared, you know, like there are tons of pieces of film that are just lost of time now, right, And I feel like,

you know, like the the number of games we lose to time. If you look at what's available now and being emulated now and stuff like that, like it's a it's a relatively small percentage of the overall whole, and it's a lot of stuff that's like where you know, it's if it's going to be an online only game that requires someone to be running a service, you

know, that gets difficult but not impossible. You have cases where you have like the BS stuff, the satellite stuff in Japan, the stell you the subtel view stuff where like it was SYNCD up with like certain times of the

day to broadcas they were broadcasting the program. So you'd be playing the legend of Zelda and the music would be coming in off the satellite and there would be audio coming in off there that tied into the story of the game, and now they're people out there trying to reconstruct that as best they can in some different ways, which sounds gargantuan but amazing. Like it'd be great to

be able to see that stuff. I remember, you know, like you see all those magazines back then and you look at like, you know, when they were talking about like, oh, this sness is a satellite system, maybe it'll come to the US, you know, like they got their own Legends of Zelda game. What the fuck is that about? Like I wanted to see that shit, So it'd be nice to be able to see that ship. Do you ever actually played that thing? I've done that the bs Zelda y? Yeah, I played. Is it based on the link

to the past? Is it the same? I think it was more like the original one, like the original game, but with updated sprites. I think that the visuals are like linked to the past. But I think it's

more like the original game. It's been like ten years since I played it, but yeah, yeah, and and even then, like what you were able to play ten years ago was just a fraction of it because like that game, like like I said, it had the time of the day, you know, stuff kind of with the satellite broadcast all those other sync up stuff, So like what they hacked together to let people play it on some

emulator or something is not the same way it's supposed to be. So as they get closer, like I should check in on that and see if there are people still making progress on that, because I haven't looked in a while. But uh, yeah, that that stuff's always really impressive to me, just to be able to have access to to some of that stuff years and

years and years after the fact. Yeah, I just I just became aware of MESS over the last week, which people don't know is basically a console equivalent of MAME, right, basically, Like it's basically just like an attempt to collect emulation cores for like every console you can think of into one thing.

Yeah, consoles and computers and stuff like that. Yeah, And it's like it's crazy to think if you I mean, obviously you're getting into shady territory, but if you're to if you're to go out and collect ROM sets, like full ROM sets of every one of the consoles represented in that thing, like you've basically got a an entire like museum to the history of video games. Like just sitting right there. Yeah, I mean, well,

you know, and they've got the Apple too, you know that. I mean, some of these these computers are are better emulated elsewhere outside of MESS, Like Mess is not perfect. I don't know that MESS actually emulates the RST at all, right now, there are separate emulators that do. But you know, uh yeah, there's a ton of stuff you can see that way. You know, the X sixty eight thousand being able to like look at like or you know, just like even just be able to see you

know, MSX metal gear, which I guess they did eventually sell. And that's that's the kind of the other catch with this stuff is a lot of times companies raid their own back catalog and resell that stuff, and then it makes the emulation aspect of it feel even a little more gray a little at that point, it's not even gray, you know, like there's nothing about it that that's gray there. But it's great to know that this stuff is

getting preserved. I think that's the thing. When you know, people talk about, oh, aren't you worried about modern digital games and all this stuff getting you know, going away, It's like I'm kind of confident that people will figure it out someday and at a certain point, just like with you know, like long lost film being uncovered, Like at a certain point,

people care less about the ownership rights and that aspect of it. Yeah, as time sure, and more than just the fact that it exists still, you know, like they're just happy that somebody managed to preserve it, right. Yeah, when we get to a point where there are no Xbox three sixties left, someone will have figured that ship out, right, right, even though like the original Xbox has not been emulated well at this point.

And I guess someone recently got a PS game running super slow, but it's like kind of first first results that are not just a homebrew app or something like that. So like that stuff. Yeah, it's always crazy how aggressive they are with that stuff. It's like, oh, it's only one generation removed from the current one, soil, let's get going on. Well, you know, different teams have different levels of restraint, like Mayme used to

have. I mean, you know, keep mind, the main project's been around for a long time, Like they were still Arcade games coming out, and there were still Mame, so you would have a situation where like King of Fighters two thousand was coming out and the Neo Geo was incredibly well emulated. So yeah, the situation where like you know it like you could, since mame is open source, people would go out there and compile their own

versions that enabled these drivers for these recent games. So the main team would have to say, like, Okay, in the build that we distribute, we are not going to include any game that is less than a year old, which is you know, everyone has draw their ownline, you know, and that was the one that they drew, but you would always you know.

It was actually probably like from the outside looking in, like the most tumultuous time for mayme because there was so much interest surrounding it purely from people that wanted to play new arcade games. And by and large, it seemed like the people that we're working on main were like, fuck you, I'm trying to get RoadBlasters to run, right, I don't give a shit about your fucking pirate bullshit. Stop fucking using our thing. Go to the arcade.

Yeah, basically, and and there was a lot of stuff like that around CPS two games when that was you know, like the fighting games and stuff like that definitely attracted a very different audience. Pokemon also, you know, there's there's a lot of you can get a lot of viruses by type and free Pokemon PC or whatever into a search engine these days. I'm sure I don't know where that Pokemon has been. No, you do not.

It is too shiny. Yeah, I don't know, but that that stuff's super interesting to me, like the all the Dolphin stuff, Like like I personally don't really care enough to run that sort of stuff. It's too it's two reason, like it's just I'm not sure, you know, making me want to see it though, it makes me want to do a Yeah, you see it, you see it in motion, like you see the art and stuff like it was it was seeing that before the EU was out.

I think it was the first thing of just like fuck man, if Nintendo had a console that would spit out this high resolution that would be amazing. So like you know, there was like a precursor to seeing like three D world and stuff like that. And I'm like, yep, sure enough. This art style works really well when it's really sharp. Oh yeah, like the Mario Kart eight replays and stuff. Yeah, those characters, the worlds are awesome. Yeah, did you try any other games on there besides Mario

Galaxy. No, I'm just working on that. After that, I'll probably maybe try Twilight Princess. I've always wanted to do the GameCube version, and then that would be way easier to map to an Xbox controller obviously. Yeah, although, like I said, you don't get the native wide screen. Yeah there, Yeah, you know, I'm fine with that as long as it's just super high res or whatever. That's weird to me though, because

like wind Waker, you could hold in Bee. I don't know. I don't know if it was one of those things where it's like that'll be one more thing that only the WE version has, yeah, I guess, or if they I think they only shipped, like they ship a pretty small number. It was it was a limited number, right, Yeah, they sell for a lot still, remember, Yeah, I want to say they only shifted a few thousand copies of that because it was also you know, it

was also the launch game for the Wei. I guess that's a gray area too, because like I own it on WE, but I want to play the game game. But I mean, what is there in that game that needs the WE remote and the sword? Right? But that's just a button, Like just like you're doing with Mario, But like, is there anything that's like the heavier the whole world is flipped one because they made him left handed right or you know, he's right handed in the WE version, but

he's traditionally left handed right. That's what it is. Yeah, it's one of those things that's huge Zelda fans like it's real serious to them, and it's like it's always yeah, I just I don't give a shit what hand link holds the sword and play the game same. But yeah, I want to say that you could like aim the bow and hook shot and things like that with the I R. You should look into it. It might still be possible on a regular controller, Okay, Yeah, I mean if it's

sixteen by nine that would obviously be preferable. Interesting can of worms you've opened. Yeah, but man, it looks tweeted. That's the thing because I've played very little Galaxy and No Galaxy too, so it's like, if I were going to play them, I might as well play them in the ideal format, right, and it's real good m m. Yeah, Drew h Hello, Hi, standing stoically at the end of the table. Yes, stone face, it's been going on, uh in life? Well, last

week we finally released some of that b role. Yeah, we do. We had it and we gave it two premium members. Yeah, all the stuff that didn't make it into the final cuts of our Games of the Years. Yeah, what is there? There's uh, there's extended wrestling tryouts. There's extended Troy Baker. Yeah, so extended Jeff. I basically took everything that the projects that had leftover footage, like for example, mine does not. Yeah, Jason's like everything pretty much that you see there. Those are

tight shoots. Yeah, same with Brads. There's there's some guinea pig by roll, but that would just be I mean, hey, some people might not argue, yeah, extended guinea pig footage. Yeah, but yeah, Jeff's had I mean Jeff's is basically I kept the camera rolling on Jeff for like twenty minutes and that was the shoot. So I just kept that in there. But Dan's was a little more complex to cut. But yeah, those are up now. See me take a lot of bumps. Yep,

see Dan take a lot of hits. And our our extended version of our Troy Baker segment. It's a talented guy. Is that all the footage? Is that everything he recorded. Yes, it's all out there now. Yeah, that's exciting to me. Yeah, I wanted to see all of that. That was so easy. We just went in, we sat down, no script or anything, and then just like what three minutes of footage or whatever. We probably didn't have to cut anything, you know, with all

of the stuff that you put in with b roll. Oh it's interesting. Actually, the part that made it into our Game of the Year video was actually the end of your guys's riff session. But it's the only part I could find that like was really nicely encapsulated in like a nice couple of minutes. It's just like we shot like it's like seven or eight all of you guys, yeah, sitting there, and we didn't want to put all of it in there because we wanted to keep everything all the seconds about the same

length. So we just put in a couple of minutes of Troy Bakers saying lick my asshole, asshole over and over again, which I'm glad, but I kept your intro. So actually when it's it starts on you in the beginning, and then I cut in the middle of a pan to the later half of that riff session. So tricky cut. Good work, thank you the magic, and then with mine like the you we recorded the fake phone calls to like Kessler, those didn't make the final cut, right. Yeah.

Still sad that Kessler in a suit didn't happen for this thing. Yeah. Yeah, that was one of the early ideas, and I was like, let's not rely on too many external people and external schedules. We don't have a lot of time to get this stuff done. Yeah. I liked that we got to include all of your thoughts about each game, so that if people really wanted to flesh out Bike two. Yeah. I mean, in terms out the playable version of Bike two that's out there is missing extreme

nuances about the game Bike two. Yeah. I saw the guy going, wait a minute, you're supposed to be able to climb ladders. I gotta go back and go this I don't think gets updated. Yeah, yeah, and I look forward to Bike two point two. Yeah. But Vinnie's got some more coming. I don't know which segments exactly he has a footage from because his went up his his what the stuff from Vinnie's shoot went up? Oh really yeah that's on the side right now. Yeah, that went up

this morning. That's all his wilderness stuff. Okay, great, I have not checked the website. Yeah, evidently, but yeah, what else, Jeff, you and I played some Elite Dangerous we did. Yeah, it's funny doing that quick look. I could not tell how long it was gone because I was just talking about everything. I couldst think yeah, yeah, and then it was like an hour went by. But I think that game

is cool. It looks really great. I thought about buying it. Then it's sixty bucks and then they're selling like colors for ships if you want to pay another seventeen or something like, Yeah, that's crazy. But I just I'm I don't know. I wish I knew how well it controld with like a regular like an Xbox controller. I've not tried to keyboard and seen some people say the mouse and keyboards fine and and all that, but I just don't know. If I want to get two into it, and I'm not

going to buy flightstick, I'm not crazy. Come on, Nope, No, that's that's come on, do not nope, OTAs, Nope, OTAs. There's some decent sticks out there. Basically, I think if you want to get a stick, you definitely want to look for one with a throttle that like you can you can get a stick that doesn't necessarily have it doesn't have to be like an external throttle, like a separate thing. There are sticks with just on the base of it, you'll see like a t bar

or something. What are you looking at if you want to get in at the base level of like flight sticks set up? Like what do you think is the budget for the like the minimum level of equipment that'll kind of let you enjoy the feel of like actually flying the ship. Let's see, there are a couple out there that are like under hunter Bucks. I think there's a Madcats one called like the Fly five, which is like fifty bucks, and then there's I think a Logitech one called the Extreme three D like thirty

bucks, and both of those have throttles. I might write like a tumbler post or something about joysticks and stuff, but I think though before I would

get a joystick, I think I would get track. I R yeah, because I just I find moving like having the having your head move independently from a control device like freeze up one like a bunch of buttons, and two like you don't have to be controlling that right right, Like if you know, if you're playing a flight sim or something and like a guy zips by you, you don't want to have to take your thumb off the stick to

like look look, yeah interesting. So I yeah, well maybe with that, just I'll just wait until Yeah comes along for reels, and then maybe by that time they'll have put a lot more into Elite because it's still it also did seem kind of thin. Yeah, it almost feels like we're reaching or approaching some kind of like inflection point where like all these space sims are happening and coming together, yeah, and getting better, and all the VR

headsets are are coming to fruition. You know. It's like, yeah, like we're approaching this glorious new future of space simulation, right or something. Yes, just twenty thousand dollars. Yes, the elephant in the room that I wasn't going to bring up, but yes, that also exists. Look back into that thing. I hope. So yeah, I think we've had this conversation before, but I certainly hope. So, Hey, if you want to play a game right now, Really Dangerous is out? Okay?

People seem to really like it. Yeah, is there a bunch of new stuff coming to it because I was really surprised to hear you can't like get out of your ship on a planet. You cannot, But that is the kind of thing that they say is coming. I think first is like I don't know about first, but like high on the priority list is being able to get out of your ship in the station and like walk around. There have been some games that have done that. I think Evcron Mercenary did that

do that. I can't remember, or maybe the X series. Yeah, people people still kind of hold a X three is kind of like where it's at right now. Yeah, those games, but yeah, oh they're so complicated. Elite is at least you get able, You're able to like just jump in and play. But yeah, I think I like, I totally understand the criticism of oh, it's one of those games you have to make your own fun, but I would phrase it like you are in a system, a game system that you set your own goals in. Uh, in

the system itself, I think it is fun. Yeah. So like here's the world, there's a bunch of systems running at their own pace. Do

what you want, yeah, find a way to fit in. Yeah, yeah, I mean that's kind of what I'm excited expecting out of a Man Sky at this point, which seems like it's off putting to a lot of people, but like that's kind of what those types of games are, right right, Like that game looks like it's gonna make it simpler to move around in the world and probably like uprade your ship and pilot it and stuff like

that. But I would imagine that the open endedness is still. Yeah, it's like I want to build a house, right, chop down all these tree where I want to dig to the center of the or dig to lava or whatever, or like why are you doing it? It's like nobody told you to do it. It's just like I just felt like it, right, Yeah, it's like that I was presented with this scene in front of me, and that's what That's what occurred to me. Ye, dig down. But over the weekend, I was just up in Tahoe where there's no

snow mm hmm, So no skiing happened. But I did play some trivial pursuit from like nineteen seventy nine sounds fun where every answer is Robert Frost, WC. Fields or credit Garbo m and a lot of the answers are vaguely racist. So great, that's fun. Sounds about right. I have a really old copy of the Young Players edition of Trivial Suit that I bet would be completely impenetrable by the people under a certain age. Yeah, that's cool. Put some disc golf as well. When there's no snow, you gotta

make it. You gotta make it happen. I guess I got. You gotta make your own rules this golf. You know, there's no objectives there, there's no mission design, just holes that are actually weird chain length fence pieces thrown together in some kind of basket. So it's a it's a goal. It's a bowl on a pole in a hole, and that's a goal. WHOA damn, that's heavy moving on. Holy crap, it's like fancy horseshoes. Also that way more walking drinking. I didn't really play a lot

of new games that haven't already been discussed here. Uh, but I did watch a documentary called sound City that you should watch, Dan, What is Yesterday? It's about sound City, the famous recording studio in Los Angeles, OH, where like hundreds of classic albums were cut over the years. Rock from the seventies up through like a few years ago when they like everything you can think of. Well, I mean, maybe not them, but yeah,

but Dylan Bad Company, Imagine is pretty good. Imagine Triumph record, that well known rock band from the seventies through like the turn of the century. Their footage seems like, yes, yeah, it seems like chances are good. That is this the studio where like Dave Groll got the big board from Sound City Big Girl directed this documentary and also got the got the mixing

board. Is it tight end of that Sonic Highways thing he's doing. Maybe Sonic Highways is I'm just going to like famous recording things across the country and just talking about their history. And then I bet, I bet that you go out of this. Yeah, okay, that makes sense. But yeah, he there's like time lapse footage of them stripping that board down and moving it out of there. It hadn't moved in forty years. Hu Apparently the board costs twice as much as an average house when they bought it in the

seventies. Yeah, I bet it's crazy shit, Yes, it's good. You would enjoy it. He seems like a good guy to talk about music with, Like I'm not a food fighters guy, but that dude seems to really like his class. Get it gets a little deep into the like Nirvana mythologizing part, like for part of this uh, although apparently Kurt was on it was just like it was nothing like, nothing like that at all. It's more just like, oh this is I wouldn't be here if it weren't

for this board, which I guess is sort of true. They record never mind there. Yeah, it's a dumb that I considered Nirvana like one of the modern bands I'm into, Like, that's one of them. That's about as far forward in rock history as I'll go. It's got bad news for you. I don't think the kid think there's new more Nirvana material coming anytime soon. The other democracy, the other, the other bad fairness, all

right, yeah, you never know, I guess boy. The other bad news for you is that Nirvana now occupies the space that classic rock like Zeppelin did when we were in high school. But in terms of the gulf of time since it came out, they're still like, you know, high school kids that listen to Zepplin like they you know, aged well, sure, but but that's not so old, I know. So we're weak when they made good music. It's time for the news, okay, yeah, yeah,

stoked to hear some headlines? Sure, some things that happened in the world whenever, whenever they're introducing the news, that's are you stoked to hear? Some headlines were with the news. Ye, Scott Williams, Scott Pelley every night on the news. Motherfucker's Uh. Nintendo had one of their famous directs, yes since this time last week. Uh, And it was all three DS oriented for the most part, except for a couple of things. New three DS. I should say, Oh man, the new three DS.

It's coming out. Yes it is, Yes in the North America on February thirteenth. Yes, large size only XL or get the fuck out. That's exactly what they said. That's what you wanta said, those exact words. Yeah, both middle fingers up might as well be what the message was.

Two hundreds, here's one hundred dollars. Boom middle finger. Here's two hundred dollars boom double middle Yeah. Like some some ads leaked out the day before, and some people start speculating when there was no no sign of the smaller version on the ads that it wasn't coming out here and then sure enough, Yeah, you go big or go home on this one. That's right. I imagine that that is probably driven by sales figures, and it must be the Xcel. Well out, Jeff, we like it big over here

is in America, that's right. Give me my I don't know if you've ever tried to order an L size drink in Tokyo, but let me tell you it's not large. Brad, I think you're one of the only people that does not prefer the Xcel that I've talked to. I mean, give me my hunger Man three DS. Yeah, I want a three DS that eats like a meal. Fucking fork up in this three DS. Yes, I was. I am one of the many people who were disappointed by this news. The only person that I know of that's crazy. Actually, that's

not true. There are at least one to two other people in this office that were similarly our whack job. Well I've gotten since this announcement, I've had the chance to handle both versions of the new three DS. Yes, and I stand by my preference, okay, because you know, the screen did get bigger on that smaller model Proportional to the unit. It's like half bigger half again bigger I think something like fifty percent bigger than the screen on

the regular three DS you imported or is it regional? No, that's the problem. That's why everybody's so mad. You can't uh because and the other thing is that the smaller version is coming out in every other territory a Europe. It already came out in Australia, New Zealand obviously came out in Japan. Every other territory is getting both versions, just not North America. And you can't import it because the region. Luck, so I can understand the

uh. Yeah, they might just you know, put their foot forward here and then have a limited right. It's very it is very possible that their supply constrained and make enough for blah blah blah. It might come out in six months or a year. But then again, how far are we from a new Nitzino handheld proper? I don't know. I don't want to. I just I don't want to do the math on any of this stuff.

It's been it's been four years since three D s even came out in America, right, and obviously came out in Japan first, or did it? Or was that the was that the weird case where it actually launched here first? I think that might have been here first. Okay, so four years period then was what we're at on this thing. And traditionally, like I think the three D or the regular DS went like seven which was crazy. But yeah, it still feels like we're sort of getting there, I guess.

So I don't know. So we have a new three DS here in hand. I've performed system transfers of putting micro SD cards in them and all the other ship mine took eight hours. Yeah, I might talk about four What are you guys doing transferring over the Wi Fi if we guess? I tried to do the SD thing. I didn't realize you had to like to go into the system transfer thing and then select transfer via SD card or whatever. Yeah, you have to do the transfer before you can copy the files.

Well, see, I copied the folder to my desktop just fine, and then when I dragged it onto the new three DS, it didn't work at all. So it was after the transfer. This is how I tried to do that. So I saw, I did the transfer and whatever, like it took way longer than it should considering it was just wirelessly transmitting you know, four gigs of data. However much it was six, I don't know, well under four because it fits on the four gig card that came

with the new three DS, and that took way too long. And then I bought a thirty two gig mic rest, which is I guess the maximum that will allow without doing some other weird shit, and then was able to just drag the contents of the old card onto the new card on my Mac. Actually, even and and through that engines was just fun. And then I had to go redownload the stuff I to delete in order to patch Smash

Brothers, and I don't know whatever I go on. I mean some amount of disbelief that the right stick on that thing is as shitty as it is. Really that it is just like check it out, you know those yeah, those it is. It is absolutely a think pad nub Ye're right about. And the best thing about the think pad nub is that it will save you when you're in a tough spot and you're like, fuck, I don't have a real mouse here. I just need to do something quick on this

machine. I can do mouse things because it's just this built in little nib. But it is like it is the bare minimum when it comes to a mouse on these sorts of machines, Like the first thing you do is go, why I need a fucking mouse? Fuck this? And so for that to be like the right stick equivalent on this thing, like what the fuck? So we played a game called Irona Yes, that is a Gears of War style third person cover shooter, Yes, and using that nub to look

around. I found to be uncomfortable, not a viable in that game, in particular because because you are aiming a gun with that thing, yeah, and shooting. I had to turn the sensitivity on the seat. It's called the sea stick, right, yeah, it is. In that particular game

I had to turn that we played at their event last week. I had to turn the sensitivity almost all the way down to be able to comfortably aim and shoot at things because it's it's super sensitive, just like those Yeah, I think bad nubs, you know, like you barely put any pressure on it, and it's taking input. So if you treat it like a proper analog stick and jam it all the way in the direction you want to go, like, they're just gonna stilty, and I necessarily have trouble aiming with

it. I just find it completely uncomfortable to use. I don't know, for like, when I played MAJORA and Zeno Blade there uh for something to like just camera control, it seemed a lot more useful. And that's gonna be ninety percent of the steth This is the three DS. It's not you know, well, I mean Call of Duty even mind there's gonna be twelve

games that support any of this ship anyway. Yeah, yeah, you know, like when by the time they're done, you're gonna be like, oh right, I forgot, Like the only I guess there actually have been where I was going to say the only time they've successfully iterated was the Game Boy

Color. But well, how many DSi exclusives were there, like accounts, account like the store aspect of the DSIE Like, I think there are already more new three DS only games announced than there ever were DSi only games period.

No, because there's one DSi or one new three DS game announced, it's only z Yeah, there are ones that will utilize the stick and everything like you can play everything else is the codenames team is not only on three D. It's even Ironfall was is will use the touch screen for aiming. Okay, that's a fallback. So that's the thing is, like, you know, how many games are gonna, you know, a take advantage of any aspect of the new three DS, and how many games will then require

the new three DS? Like I feel like we're looking at a supremely low number, right, I'm loving it as I played through MAJORA, Like, just having that level of camera control is awesome, especially considering it's nice to have almost necessary. Yeah, you know, Jeffy not like it because of the placement or just using that thing. I think the placement's a little weird. I think, you know, with the options they had, it's fine, but I just I just don't like to feel that nub. I just

I think it's a it's a bad it's a bad control thing. It's hard to imagine what else they could have crammed into the form factor of that thing, though, because it's already so small. What if you bolted on an external shell that had a little stick on the right or something like that. It could be full size at that point. We could put us some extra buttons up top. I don't know, whatever you want to do, that's smart thinking what color are the face buttons. They are normal, they preserve.

So it's all the same as Japan in that the XCEL has the flat colored buttons, but with the colored like text on them. The names of the buttons are colored. It was the smaller three DS that had the actual Famcom colored buttons, and since that's not coming out of your period, who could say what color it would have been. Also, it does not come with a power A. Yeah, you know. My instinct when people started writing articles about that was like, Bad's not a big deal. Whatever.

You ca get them for seven or eight dollars on Amazon, which I did buy one on Amazon. But I changed my tune when I was doing this system transfer because I started at like twelve thirty or one at night, just thinking like, okay, I'll just start this and have a go overnight, and then I realized that it was taking forever, like you know, I waited like an hour and it wasn't anywhere near like you know, ten or fifteen percent, and I was like, oh shit, I need to go

to bed at some point. But I can only have one plugged in at one time, so I had to set my alarm every hour and a half throughout the night, wake up I had them both sitting on my bed unplugged, one plugging the other like a nightmare. It kind of sucked. I ended up doing something similar. It sucks. This is why you don't do the wireless transfer. Yeah. Yeah, for all, I was going from full size SD to microst Like, you know, what are you supposed to

do? I mean you moved your PC. Yeah, you copy the contents through the PC. Is that's something that's still you have to go. But you still have to initiate the system transfer. You have to do that. But then that's when it asked you. I feel like the writing on the prompt for that terrible. Also, you have to use a screwdriver to get the microst D out and that was not an option at that time. You're a shame because so I did a three DS transfer like pretty early in the

lifespan of the system. Yeah, and it was very straightforward, and like I was like, wow, this is very Unintendo, Like, well, it's easy to do and it works. But at some point they started having your Nintendo I D and you know, like the amount of data they're storing on on the system itself, the system transfer process has got gotten way more confusing. I was like say, no, if you're using mic res D, And I'm like, well, I am, but I don't know,

but not in the way that they're saying I am. They don't. They're living like the prompts of the system transfer process. We're not. Obviously. They don't even use natural language to refer to a lot of things in those things, like they you know, they call there's the target system the SD card, Like yeah, when it says the SD card, you know, they were talking about the big one, not the micro like it's it's all.

It's all very kind of of twos. Did you have any trouble with actually like unscrewing, Like I was able to find just like some eyeglasses screw drivers and take the screws out and then I was forcing it. Yeah, no, I mean you have the screws, don't come all the way out. You just you were loosening the screws and then prying the back cover off. It has handles on the sides for you to do that. It's not which and in the manual it says that you're supposed to use the end of

the stylist to kind of like prop it open. But I was trying with my fingers and with the prop way they told me, and it felt wrong, like I was about to break the back. It has like like slots on either side of it that are clearly there for you to just grab it and rip it the fuck off. So so I did that. It was fine too well. Yeah, but yeah, so, and I had recently purchased a tiny screwdriver set because I needed like a security screw to open up

a CPS two board that I had that had exploded. I already have range of screw driver sizes because I like to do things. I have things often require screw drivers. Have a dire mess of tools, like I've got three different toolboxes, but it's just like tools that have collected and you know, half socket sets because some roommates stole half of them out. Just like it's just a fucking wreck a lot of tools, but I don't know where anything

really is. Yeah, but they still come in handy. Yeah. So I ended up having to buy another Allen wrench set over the weekend because I was building this old TV stand and like, realize, I have no idea where mine are. So yeah, that's how tools are around my place. Yeah, I don't, I don't know what to drove these decisions, you know, to go to Mike Rust to incorporate screws into the process. It's safe space, you know, and you know and Mike Rust like you're you

know, you're probably never going to access it during place. You don't necessarily need to have it super user accessible, right. I do like that it loads a lot faster, like Smash Brothers that they load up and do it side by side, like it is way fastern. Well that would a lot of that would also depend on how fast your SD card is and that kind of thing. Yeah, yeah, but which if someone is going to buy one, get it on Amazon. I went to Radio Shock because I wanted

it, like the day I got the system. Yeah, it's like they were way more expensive. Sure, yes, and also, you know SD cards is so cheap, you might as well get the Class ten or whatever the fast US I went with. But again, like with some of these some of these, uh, some of these design quirks that people were somewhat

upset about, like just like the absence of the smaller three ds. At a certain point, I'm left asking, like, you know, how long it's the stop gap even gonna matter before the next real handheld comes out, you know, yeah, like, are you gonna buy this thing? Do the transfer, play MAJORA, and then put it back in the drawer.

I feel like they've done an incredibly like even coming out of the event and playing games that you know, like take advantage of the right stick in some cases, I feel like they still have done an incredibly poor job of making the case for the new three D s and why you would actually really want one, which is just like just like what happened with the DSi, where it was like, well, all these things together, these new features make

this thing sound pretty cool. Yeah, and then do they do absolutely nothing with them? Right, and then a year and a half later, a new hand it becomes telling at that point that it doesn't have a an adapter boxed in with it, because they are clearly selling these people that already have one. Right. I might be alone on this one, but I really do think the head tracking three D thing makes a pretty big improved I've liked what I've seen. It hasn't worked for ship or when it. When it

works, it's fine, but it has been incredibly spotty. See I went with the last one. I always had three D off on every game really no exceptions like each one. You know, I'd play like a race and Mario Kart with three D and be like, all right, well that's the last time I'll do that with this. I well, okay, why why why would you turn it off? Like what was wrong with it? Because of the kind of sweet spot thing where it's like if you even a little

bit didn't like having to look at it dead on all the time. Yeah, Like I like the idea of three D if it worked and it wasn't so finicky like it was before. And now you know, I'm playing through MAJORA and I've had it turned up the entire time, and I think it looks really good. And I mean, if you're not making these big weird movements with your head, which why would you be when you're playing games,

it's pretty good. It will occasionally freak out, like if you look away, like I sneeze or some thing that I look back, it takes a second to just be like, oh wait, where do your eyes go? Okay? There, okay, here's the three D Like the three D flips out while it is looking for your eyes. Yeah, but that's rare enough to where I think it's fine playing with the three D. Maybe I'm looking way more frequently, but I feel like that thing is constantly losing track of

my eyes and just wigging out even when I'm looking at it directly. And maybe it's the lighting in the room. Like it seems like they're just a number of different factors that they call it super smart three D is that what

they call it? Something like that or super stable three D whatever. They have a term for it that you can then go in and disable, and I'm pretty close to just disabling it because I didn't have any problem with the three D as it existed on the regular three D ash Wow, Like it's yeah, I mean it's it's a narrow field of view, but like it's

fine. It's how it's You're looking at it straight on like you would look at it while you were playing it anyway, and so having that wide range of motion like is somewhat convenient, but not it's not some big game changer. I don't I don't know what do you think the odds are that their next handheld will even have three D existing? It'll be four K Like it's

sure, you look curved. It's weird though, It's like the three S is such an obvious reminder of consoles as like artifacts of the times in which they were designed. Yeah, because you know, three D s came out right around the time that like Avatar became the highest grossing movie of all time, and like the TV industry was going ape shit over three dright, like it just seemed like the thing you needed. And now yeah, like right

exactly, like who wants three D anything at this point? Right? Yeah, I am surprised that you've had so much trouble with the head tracking thing, because like most of my play has been on the train and so like sometimes it's out in the sun, sometimes it's underground and I'm kind of moving around a little bit, and yeah, lighting situations and movement and everything, and it has not been bad for me at all. If you should probably

try to play without your snake eyes sunglasses. Okay, that's that's that might maybe that is the problem not helping I like to be cool while to play video games and stuff, So that's a no go. Yeah. And then also, like it started, it defaults to automatic brightness. Yes, that was we both had. I think Brad and I both had cases where it was just it was just cycling up and back down out. It is something very wrong with the system. I have never liked that feature in any electronic

ever. Yeah, phones, anything, Yeah, I hate that. So I turned that off and pumped it all the way up and said, burn out, my fucking redness, let's go. Yep. I guess you know, I guess it's a time will tell sort of thing with the new three DS, based on what kind of support it gets, right sure, Yeah, Like I saw I saw Zeno Blade at that event, and like it looked nice, you know, it didn't yeah, and maybe didn't quite look up to what I remember the WE version, but it was close. Yeah.

So you know, if there's more stuff like that, I guess it justifies its existence. But yeah, well yeah, but also you know, it's one of those things where if people don't own a three DS and they're looking to get in as the library has become bigger, like you know, it's it's a decent price for us. What's been a solid system. Yeah,

you know, the quality is nice. Like the games that that do take advantage of the extra buttons and features like take nice advantage of them, Like any kind of game that has camera controls are aiming or something like that. Like using the stylist to aim in any kind of dual joysticky kind of shooter just sucks. So as much as that nub is a pain in the ass, like I at least can appreciate that it's there. Yeah, but

it depends on what uses it. You know. It's like I went and played Smash Brothers just to see if it worked yet or if that was a patch they had to put out because the system's not out in this territory yet, And yeah it works. I was like, Okay, yep, I can do smash tacks with that. Never gonna do that again. And that's I mean that's specific Smash Brothers, I guess, but yeah, I don't know, man, it's it's it's feels needless. The whole thing feels needless.

They need more games out there that are pushing why you would want that stuff. Sure, whether it's for the the you know, more powerful hardware itself, or whether it's extra control stuff like they just need more cases where they can say look at this, you need one of these, and they just haven't done that yet. Yeah, it remains to be seen if they

will. February thirteenth, ninety nine in North America. The other excels dropping I would have, and they're just going to discontinue them, I would think, than sell out the stock and then it'll be it. I guess. Yeah, And then they've got bundled versions for like two twenty nine or something, right, Monster Hunter one that was sold out in seconds or whatever. But poor fucking bastards or is really good on it. It's it's better going

back to that expected. I'm gonna give Majora another chance. Yeah, I'm my yes, Brad. But I went to I went to the event and played some of it there, and there was at a point where I was like, oh, I need to swap masks to talk to this guy. I was like, oh, wait, fuck this game. Wait a minute, changed my mind. Oh but you can put it on a touch screen, so you just tap it and then you're you know, whatever I did, I did it was still like that, like in making it slightly easier

to switch masks appreciated, but doesn't actually solve anything. There's so much different stuff you can do. Thanks then to my to my recollection. If it wasn't the day of release, it was very close to the day of release. When I bought Majora's Mask and played it once and never touched again. So, you know, I feel like I owe it to my self to give it another shot. I think I might be the same way I played. I did you do the full thing? Got the Fierce Ddy mask and

all that stuff? You got all twenty four? Sorry? What oh the Fierce Dity mask? No? No, he played it the day it came out. I mean I literally played it for one session. Oh to play it. Oh, you need to give it a shot. It's one of the most unique games it god ever played. Got to if I remember, it's really fucking weird. Will I will grant you that I remember correctly. I got to the end of the first dungeon and then had to like time

ran out and have to do the entire thing again. Yeah, I'm not going to do that, Brad, And I put it in a box and I never played it again. Brad, I wanted to keep playing this game, and I want to talk about it on future BombCast right because I'm gonna be playing through it too. It is a fantastically weird and awesome I'll see, I'll see what I can do. It was a game that was,

you know, an impressive technical achievement. In its day, if you were reviewing games on a site that had graphics and sound scores, you would give those very high marks. How ballsy is that game? To like? You take, you know, this pride and joy of Nintendo Zelda. You know, it's just one of the most important games here of all time, and just throw a bunch of super weird shit. And it was only the play

Dave works and it's good and it's and it's bad. It's both. It's one of the best, it's super it's super interesting that they took all these risks and guess what, notice that they haven't done it since because fuck that game. It's so polarizing. It's doing something right. It's so good. It's so good. I'm liking it more now the time stuff and just how weird and dark it is. It just gets graham as you get near that third day, a little subtle things like the music. It's it's just such

a great game. All right, it's so bord. I'll take your word for it. I'll see what I can do with it. Just play Dead Rising one and said, okay for your games with time constrolled, dude, Oh no, that's how you do that, it's gonna drive around underground and run over zombies. Yeah, so awesome. I had to get like seventy thousand kills or something. First Dead Rising was Oh man, it was hard. It was such a weird thing. Fifty twenty point achievements which were incredibly

easy, some of which were damn near. Were all fun achievements like bowling over zon. Yes, that was that was I mean, that is That is the game. That's like put it down as the game that made achievements matter. I don't remember a game before that. I know so many people that spend all that time driving around in the parking ride or whatever. But just like they just they made the achievements all weird, weird things you needed to use the game mechanics to pull off, you know, instead of just

like killed eighty of these guys, like where did this helmet? And killed these things with this weapon? Uh more. Nintendo News, let's just pound through it. New amibos are coming out great, like a lot of them. There will be new marths. Oh yeah, yeah, get your Marthon. A new fire emblement is coming without a title. What Get your Marthon again? Yeah it's yeah yeah. Wait yeah, I'm sorry. I was thinking I was mixing up Marth and Schulk. Chulk is from the weird Zena

Blade things. Yeah, yeah, funny how that might happen. I can Marth are fire emblem. Uh, there's the the we games coming out on WEU that I mentioned. Mario Galaxy two already came out ten bucks. Yeah, they're they're twenty dollars regular, but all all will be ten bucks for the first week. It's my favorite Nintendo candy. I have a reminder on my phone set to buy punch Out in two days when it comes out on Thursday. Yep, I'm underrated because I never played punch Out on the Wii.

It did a really good job, and that seems like a good thing I have. It's Yeah, it's Mario Galaxy two, punch Out, and Metroid Prime Trilogy. They're all real good games. They're really pulling the rug out from under the Metroid Prime trilogy the whole Yeah, it's ten bucks for the whole trilogy. Yeah, oh shit. And it's the it's the WEE version that does ye screen and has the WU or though the we controller support.

Oh man. But yeah, they they made very few copies of that, so it was like a pretty valuable WE game, but now you can just get it. I'm sell in the mood to play through Metrod Prime again. We code name Steam is coming out March thirteenth. That looks really cool. It was cool I played that that. Nintendo e vented Abraham Lincoln leading some kind of force to fight stuff. Yes, aliens perhaps, yeah, some like x comp stuff, but with more direct control. And if there

will be any mounted bears in the game unknown. High Rule Warriors DLC coming out in February, Puzzle and Dragons, you guys know about that. There should be some sort of like if you buy the High Rule Warriors DLC, you're added to a list some kind of Yeah, you're on the no fly list because you bought High Rule A. We know you bought High Rule Warriors because and then you liked it enough to buy add on content the register as an offender. If some type that list is called Club Nintendo, Yeah,

discontinuing club. Yeah, I've got bad news for you day. Go around door to door. Tell your name is, like, hey, I bought the High roul Warriors DLC. I'm sorry how many surveys I answered on Club Nintendo we'll get to that. Yeah, don't let me get there. Almost there, Okay, a few more bullet points. Oh yeah, the Puzzle and Dragon stuff is coming out in May. Yes, it's like a combo pack. Yeah, Puzzle Dragons Zuzz Dragon z and also the Super Mario Brothers

addition, both in the same package. Yeah, that's cool. U is he gonna Blade coming for three DS? And April Splatoon coming to we you and may good Good here is quietly maybe the most interesting thing, or maybe that will never happen again. Uh, they're putting out a cross by game. Yeah, Mario Versus Donkey Kong Tipping Stars. If you buy it on the console, you get it on the handheld for free, or vice versa

March fifth, that's coming. Yeah. I don't know if And again, like who knows what their next handheld will be, if there is one, or like what Nintendo's strategy is going to be going forward, or if they're finally just gonna unify the Sure you'd like to think that the handheld and the console and one product or whatever, but like, at least they're thinking about this stuff for the future. I hope. Uh, Mario O Versus Donkey Kong has been a good series. Yeah, those games are cool. I

totally missed this. Pokemon Shuffle coming for free to the shop is a Pokemon themed puzzle game. And isn't Pokemon Shuffle just puzzling dragons? Maybe there's Pokemon Puzzle League on sixty four that's just a demo for the actual P and D product. Uh, Kirby and the Rainbow because I mean it's like a clone of it is like a weird so weird. Yeah, I don't know. Maybe yeah, that that new Kirby game, Rainbow Curse, coming out February

twentieth. Okaye. And then I knew Rhythm Tangoku game got announced for Japan and not and not North America. Is that the Rhythm Heaven? Serious? Yeah? I guess that is Rhythm Heaven. Those are great games for three D s. You say, yeah, I believe it is three years. Alex's story does not say I believe it is it is three days? Fire him all right, do it now? Okay? Uh? And then yeah, some pretty sad news that actually just came about this morning. Is it

sad? I don't know? Clubs shutting down? Uh, it's it was, I don't know. I never got anything of value. It was like you would get games occasionally, but yeah, sure, like it's it's such a buonter because the for years, the stories about Club Nintendo coming out of Japan were so amazing. Oh yeah, this is the Japanese prizes were higher qualities, and like, wasn't there this is some apocrypha about like Club Nintendo

members got to test games or some crazy shit. I don't know no idea about that, but anyway, Club Nintendo finally end up coming here a few years ago, and then it was like get your hand towels. Yep, there's a calendar. Here's a canvas bast calendar with a mushroom monitors, three small link posters. Yes, yeah, here's here's a here's a game case that will hold three of your three DS cartridges. But it's got an anmacrossing dog on it. Right, Like it was that stuff was not great,

so maybe it's for the best. They did say that there is some sort of replacement rewards program or loyalty program will be forthcoming. What about the coins you have, because I have like probably over a certain you have a certain amount of time to redeem them. Yeah, check the story. INSIGHT's got all the dates for like, you can only do this until the state that

kind of thing. You gotta go figure out what I want while chains, that sounds way better than anything they would actually offer already have a while chains. So, yeah, did you get it from Club Nintendo? I got it from Nintendo and Redmond when I went there. Have you been there to get shot of the store or whatever? I've never been here, but yes, yeah, I bought one there at NCL anyway, Okay, sorry, yeah, yeah I misheard. Yeah, I feel like I feel like Nintendo's

kind of they're back to. They're back to kind of like weird, scrappy, slightly desperate Nintendo. You know, like the era of the insane runaway success that is the we into a lesser extent of DS. Yeah, like the we Nintendo was an aloof Nintendo. That was just like, this thing's very popular or not. We're going not going to show so much of our hand here to reveal the fact that we are not sure why it is popular,

but we are just going to ride this wave. Yeah. Uh, now they're back in like I don't want to say dire straits, but no, no, certainly not. But you know, their future seems somewhat uncertain. Uh, they probably have the money. Hey, I don't know. I'm gonna put go on a limb here. I don't think Nintendo is going to go say the future is uncertain. I don't mean like they're going to file Chapter eleven or something. I mean like they're gonna change their products.

Their next moves are not clear. Yeah, and were slowly, you know, getting its own library. That's pretty good. Yeah. I don't know that sales are so dire for that thing though. It's like at a point Bonetta and Smash kind of bump it a little bit. Really. No, no, no, I think actually the console numbers did not move. Yes, like Smash Brothers move copies. I haven't seen I haven't seen the December impds, but the November ones hardware sales absolutely did not reflect the the the

impact of Smash Brothers as as a software release. That was one of the few systems I bought. And then it was like Jesus Christ, I spent three hundred and fifty dollars on this thing, and then like there was nothing I wanted to play, oh Man, Mass Effect three, God Launch Title, Batman with Extra Armor. I played Mario You and then got what was Pickman three, the next big one that came out. Well, there's you know, a zombie you I got that, and I didn't like that very

much. Did some interesting stuff, charm you know, it was doing things with the hardware of that it was trying. Yeah, yeah, back when there were third party games that came out for that thing, now like what I know, Yeah, what are you gonna do? Play more Funky Barn Dogs? Right? Yeah, that came. Yeah, that eventually came out, didn't it. Advanced Warfare never did did it? Ghost did? Ghost

did? Yeah. I don't think Advanced Warfare came out. There's been there's been like I don't even want to call it scuttle butt because I don't think there's any factual basis for it. I think it's more like wish fulfillment type

stuff and anything. But like, I feel like there's been this whole sort of buzz online about people trying to connect the dots and prove that Nintenna was going to announce a new console in the next year or something like that, like because I mean, you know, like if if if one worked to be announced this year and release next holiday, that would put it four years out. From the WU, which is not completely unheard of. You know the Xbox. Yeah, first that's cut off first XBO territory, like the

Xbox it was shut down after four years. Uh, but you know it's that's fine, you know, sure, like announcing new Nintendo platform. But what is it? Yeah, you know, we're not far enough out from the EU for like what's the you know, they would have had to start making their pivot moves a year out, a year after the we use released at the absolute latest or something like, you know, as technology advanced enough are they you know, like what what would they do that would make a

difference. And that's what I mean when I say their their future is uncertain because what do they put out? I mean the hardware gap between the EU and the current platforms prevents them from getting the easy ports. But that's not gonna turn their fortunes around like those you know, they got that at the beginning of the WEIU and no one fucking cared. It's that doesn't matter, you know, It's it's not about the hardware. There's nothing wrong with the

WU. It's about what do they do to get it into people's hands? Like, you know, what are what are the games that they're developing, what are they doing to better the WU And that's the sort of stuff I think you look at and go like, well, they they sold. You know, Like the reason the Smash didn't necessarily move consoles is because it moved consoles a year ago, because you know, people were buying the console because they knew that was going to come. Yeah. Uh, you know,

And that's not necessarily a bad thing. It just means that, you know, that's that's about how popular or something like Smash Brothers probably really is. You think in twenty fifteen that a new full on Zelda moves more hardware units than Smash Brothers. Probably think, yeah, my boy. I mean, if you're asking me, is the legend of Zelda bigger than Smash Brothers? Absolutely right? But I mean, like, you know, this Zelda coming out this holiday, you know, does that move more we use than Smash

Brothers? I was too early to tell. I would say the audience, the potential audience for aid good, new sprawling Zelda game is definitely bigger than the current WEU install days. Everything looks great, yeah, because I think there there are plenty of fans of Nintendo's games that you know, probably haven't

taken the plunge yet because they feel like there's not enough. A new Zelda comes out and looks amazing, that could tip a lot of those people if it's something where it's like, well, I can't miss this, like this is this is a landmark moment because they have finally made a good departure from the Zelda formula and and and that would tip some people that would then go like, well, okay, great, now I get to play Bandet too. Now I get to get this version of Smash Brothers. Now I get

to get this. But yeah, I don't know. It's like the people that are trying to like speculate Nintendo into making a new a new console, I just I don't see it, and and like, yeah, that doesn't like maybe it'll happen, but I feel like I feel like whatever Nintendo's next move is, it has to be bigger than hey, we made a new

console. It has to be like and you know, it's like a lot of people talk about like that idea of like unifying because they've just been fucking killing it on handhelds for a good long time, just doing really great stuff. And there's a lot of great stuff for the three DS that you know, like I would much rather play on a bigger screen, and so like

that concept is I find really appealing. Yeah, the idea of like, well, you know, it's it's portable system because then we can sell Pokemon games to kids, Like that's our that's our actual bread and butter, you know, in a big, big way. But we still want to appeal to this wider audience. So we want to make sure that it can do this, that can do this and still look up to a TV and spit this out. And you know, I think that's a really that's a really

exciting move to me. Like if they were to do that, I would be pretty psyched about it because it's it's you know, it's Nintendo delivering what they're best at to all players instead of splitting the difference between these two platforms in such a way where you're you're just pissed. It's almost it's almost like taking the groundwork that Sony has done to an extent with the cross by and cross save and that kind of thing, and like taking it to its logical

extreme. Right, Yeah, like we are the best in the business at this type of handheld Like we were going to leverage that against them. And even if it's a dual screen handheld and they still have to sell a tablet controller like the WU or something, fine, total, But if it all works together, right, sure, like it could be amazing. Like if I could just play three DS games on the WU, I would use my

WIU a lot more sure. Yeah, yeah, uncertain times. Yeah for those guys, uh, Jeff to read this headline, sid Meyer's Starships were meant to fly? Yeah, explain that. Uh. Sid Meyer has announced a new game called Starships. Got it to spin off from Beyond Earth. Okay, Uh, it is a strategy game. It's coming. I know, weird. Well actually, actually, I just want you to explain the headline. Oh no, that's what you don't explain, you dumb. I

didn't know if it was a reference to something that I'm missing. Okay, I'll ask you later. Yeah I didn't. I didn't get the reference. You're an old man, Brad. Yeah that's all I can say. All right, Even I know that reference, Bratt. That's a Nicki Minash song. Yes, Oh okay, yeah, Truffle Butter. Not a lot of

radios around here. Yeah. So, yeah, they announced Starships this game is supposed becoming a relatively quickly here, but I guess it sounds like it's maybe some kind of smaller team for Access that is working with sid Meyer of the sid Meyer fame, Yes, to have this game that is set in space. It is a rategy game just coming to Mac, PC and iPad. A lot of people seemed pretty disappointed, but it's it's the interest cinematics, so it's not necessarily super in depth about it. I feel like a

lot of people were pretty disappointed with Beyond Earth. Yeah, and and I'm not enough of a fan of, uh the that type of strategy work coming from sid Meyer to tell you why, well, you you've assuming you were being literal, you've already kind of outlined the one thing that Beyond Earth was

missing, which is being set in space. Yep. Yeah, Like if this, if this follows on from the concept of Beyond Earth and now it's in space, if this actually takes place in space, because that's what I thought Beyond Earth it's gonna be there's a fucking fat hex in space SpaceX Yes, yes, all right, okay, good like like finding out that Beyond Earth was just survived but on the planets that are not Earth as opposed to like the kind of galaxy spanning. Sure what this thing sounds like it's going

to be. That was the disappointment. I think, Yeah, so you know this, this is that in a way. I don't know. I can't tell you one way or the other if that's going to be appealing to people. There'll be more news on it coming out of packs South this weekend. I guess I think they're doing a panel or something. Yeah, of some kind there leave someone in this building is hosting some panel, so that

stands to reason. Yeah, well that's exciting to hear. Australian people are probably not super excited that hotline Miami two has been de facto banned there. Oh yeah, I thought that we were past this. Like what the Australian Ratings Board refusing to classify? I thought, I thought that tale is all the time that they had added a new rating in order to prevent them from refusing class Didn't they add al eighteen? Didn't that happen? I feel like

Mortal Kombats coming out there now and they can finally enjoy getting up. Oh you know what, I just I won't read the there's a pretty lengthy and explicit, uh summary of the scene that they're objecting to. But at the end of that, this depiction of implied sexual violence exceeds I guess keyword being exceeds what can be accommodated within the R eighteen plus classification category. The plus is apparently not enough. I guess not. So you know you need an

R e teen plus plus. Yeah, and then you're good. Interesting. Yeah, so that's still happening. Uh, there's you know, a statement out from Devolver about how they are not going to change anything and they're just pointed and blah blah blah. But it's not like they're going to make an edited or censored version for Australia. Yeah. Yeah, so I know, I suspect there will be ways for Australians to play that game if they like. Sure it is likely to happen. Yeah, but you know, games

casting a wider and wider net. Sure, I guess more and more of the stuff is likely too. Yeah. No, I'm extremely curious to see how that game shapes up. Yes, what's up with the cover of In Miami two? Is Phil Fish the main character? Wasn't he always? I'm gonna say, you're always just wearing the masks. I canna say, yes, uh that happened. Uh the Xbox One, Okay, I've heard of

that. It's three ninety nine, and then it's three forty nine, and then it's three ninety nine again, and how it's three forty nine again. All right, So yeah, they had that big sale around Christmas. We like selling these things, right, As it turns out, we liked it when people were buying it. Yeah, it's like such a over drives two dollars. I don't know, God, damn, it seems like such an

obvious move. Yeah, Like, so, yeah, they had this, they had this big thing over the holidays that it was down to three forty nine without connecting two games or with sorry, without connect with two games. Yeah. Uh, and apparently did quite well. I mean they you know, they went in a leading console for November. In December, they moved them by a healthy margin I understand. But they went into that saying like,

yeah, this is a holiday sale. You know. They all but said like, don't get too attached to the price, right, even though a bunch of people said like they'd be crazy to bring the price back up, And then they brought the price back up I mean, you got to have consequences for the people that didn't act. I guess, but the price was only how how long are you willing to go? Less than two weeks apparently is the answer, because as of the fifteenth it was back to three

forty nine. Alex's dex says. Microsoft says this won't be a permanent drop, but gives no time frame for when the promotion will end. Here's when the promotion will end. When they pass Sony in the US. Okay, got it? When when they can say we are the leading console in the US, they will say it's three ninety nine. Yeah, and then see how maybe that's that's my guest. Oh, I wonder how people feel who bought Xbox ones in that less than two week long window. Oh god,

damn. Yeah. Then actually that's pretty terrible. Yeah, that really stinks. I don't know if this current three forty nine skew still comes with the games or not. Well, I guess they're still selling the bundles, right, Like bundles is still out there, so I guess you could still get it for that price. Uh yeah, cheap consoles, right, Dan, Yes, thank you? I paid five hundred dollars for that Okay, yeah, yeah, that's that's more than three fifty with three games. Yeah yeah,

that's yeah. I paid that with no games. Yep. So we got connects though, Yeah, I got connects. I mean whatever. I've got my three DS Ambassador certificate. Yeah yeah, I got that system transferred over some of the new three DS thankfully where that badge with pride, Yeah you were there. I was there. I remember waking up and getting that email from Nintendo. I just been like fuck, because yeah, I was

what two hundred and fifty dollars for the three Ds at first? And then what did they bring it down to, like was on one seventy nine? It was like a huge drop one Yeah, and I bought it at launched

and played Street Fighter for like three times. Like I remember the I remember the Ambassador stuff, but I had completely forgotten the reason that all happened was because I think was yeah, yeah, it wasn't nobody was buying that thing, but there wasn't any And then like their Ambassador make good was like here's a bunch of like virtual console games that are missing some of the features that proper virtual cossol games have, yes, like safe stays or other it doesn't

have that source. And then like two of the ten ended up getting updated with those feature yeah, and then and that was so they could put them on sale. I think they were like, you know, and also, we have no plans to ever sell these games separately from this. It's like, oh, well, what you just like already emulated that mapper of any s hardware and you're just like, well, but yeah, if you have Ustial's Island down your three D s now, I don't you have a license

that would let you have that for free if you wanted? Great, Yeah, all exercise my rights here one of these days. I'm sure it's not even close to through. Oh yeah, it's a top fifteen platform or ever. Yeah, okay, yeah, sure, it's the fifteenth best platform ever made. I'd put Bubbsy. I put Bubbsy. Wait which Bubbsy the first three? First one? Okay? Yeah, three D yes, bubbs the Art Museum one. All right, Well, I guess we'll keep our eye on console prices because of what we do. Yeah, yeah, totally.

I mean three forty nine is a nice price to pick up a new console. That's uh yeah, and you know, uh, I guess Sony has permanently packed in the Last of US Freemastered? Is that permanent? Really? Is it? Last of WAS Remasters? Was it just the left behind DLC? That can't a weird standalone thing? Am I crazy? Surely that's not the case. It has to be the full game, right, That would be a weird standalone thing because you kind of got to know more about that

character and the main games really appreciate it. Yeah. And then plus, it's not even it wasn't even set up to run by itself. I'm not seeing oh here it is on Walmart dot com. Yeah, I'm It's hard to say, but my understanding was that, yeah, that that game was just being concluded period with PS fours now pack is Yeah, back, that's a good pack. End. Yeah, that's that's a whole of a game to start with. Beats the Destiny pack, end the game with that white

one. That's cool if I got that one. Yeah, it's a physical copy of the game sitting on my shelf where it will stay for probably ever. Yeah, don't worry. By the time you get back to it, they will have made it way easier, gets a maximum level, so they should I just play it in like six months and it might be fun. Hey, your destiny is coming. That's right? Oh cool? Be ready? Uh, last story that I've got unless anything else crazy happened that I

missed once. I mean, I don't know story, so I can't GTAPC. You getting delayed again. Yes, it's coming out of year from now. Oh cool, okay, enjoy Robotoke Robert Bowling Studio. Yes, Robert Bowling, formerly of Infinity Award Fame, Yes or zero two. Yes, one Shots Center Mass. Yes, the Internet's for zero two. Mere weeks after his company had the show closing trailer at the Game Awards, Robotoke has

ceased operations. Yeah. They were making Human Element, which I don't think they showed in the gameplay in that trailer at the end of that show, but it was well something where they had recently got out there as I think as part of that reveal and kind of said, like, it's not a free to play game anymore, it's gonna be out in November. We're working

on this. You know. They kind of had pivoted again, right, you know, but that game when they were first getting started, at one point they were like, you know, like they say they were going to make an Uya prequel to that thing, right, because they were operating when the Uya was hot there for that week and a half and people were like, well, I guess we'll put it out on the Uhia because they're throwing money around. I guess are there's people significant? You know, before anyone

got their hands on one to realize it was a shit show. Well, he was one of the top backers bowling. Yeah, his name is on my Uya. It's like notch and then four zero two right after engraved the top backers on the first run ridiculous. It's pretty weird. So that puts the you know when when you go back and look at you know what they did, like having that trailer closed the show and with the statement I guess

that the Bowling gave to JOYCETI read the quote here yea. This week, we have ceased operations of Rubatokei and the development on Human Element is on a hiatus. We were actively negotiating a new publishing deal for the premium version, premium version of Human Element, you know, meaning not the Uya prequel. I have no idea what does this even mean? But unfortunately is that game? What is that game? You know who knows, but unfortunately I was

unable to continue to sell fund development until a deal was finalized. So yeah, so maybe they'll find funding. It's you know, when you have no one working on it, it's a little bit harder to get funding. But you know that that just seems like one of those things where probably having that trailer out there closing that show was their last ditch effort to like, we'll get a bunch of buzz around it. Someone will surely come in right and

and give us the money we need to get going. But if that didn't happen, at least not on the timetable they needed it too, then then yeah, there we are here they are. But but you know, he does refer to it as on hiatus, so right time to kickstarter see it coming back? Oh god, yeah, I think he ran. They ran another Kickstarter for a second game that did not make it, So I don't think. I mean, Human Element is technically the first game announced for this

generation of consoles. It's true, and hey, dark Sactor finally Yeah, dark Sactor finally came out, So there's you know, there's some press. Uh yeah, so I you know, I don't know that was one of those things where it just seemed like such a pipe dream at the start of it, and you know, I was like, I'm you know, I

don't I don't like Robert Bowling seems like a very nice guy. Just he just he seemed like he was kind of you know, they he was the community guy for Call of Duty, and then like they kind of gave him this creative strategist title and he kind of understanding he had more responsibilities than just the community end of things, uh there towards the end, but I you know, it's just one of those things where it's like he doesn't necessarily like

you can't necessarily directly link him to the rise of Call of Duty in a way that gets people to get hyped about this game. So it was always this kind of weird thing. Yeah, you can't. There's no dropping of like from the makers of Call of Duty or a Yeah, so it was just sort of a weird. Yeah. I don't know. I'm sure he did quite well off of the sales of Call of Duty and stuff. I mean, you look at how long they've been going. If he's talking about

self funding, like you know, clearly it's expensive. They had their office that got robbed all that other stuff, you know, was rated or whatever it was. They chased him off. Yeah, scarity footage. Yeah pretty cool. Wow I missed that. Yeah, it was awesome. Dude's broke in the front door and Bowling just sprinted down and chased them off and the security he tweeted out, Yeah, put it on Instagram or something. It's pretty rapt It was the most human the human element was. Yeah. Yeah,

I don't know. Yeah, it's it's it's curious, you know. But yeah, at the same time, I imagine that as an investor coming in if you're like, now you're looking to invest in a game that has basically gone dormant and doesn't have a staff actively working on it, Like what are you what are you investing in? You know, like the startup, and like can you get those people back? Like who knows? That just

seems like a dicier proposition. So I you know, we'll see. Yeah, you know, if they were targeting this November, then it has to be pretty far along though, so sure hopefully you know, for their say, hopefully what they've got to show is pretty complete and impelling too potential money types. Yeah, all right, well that is all the news that is fit to read on a podcast. Okay, all of it. It's time turner. Attention to the emails. Excuse me, the emails emails BombCast at

giant bomb dot com. Send your emails there and I will ignore them all right, such as this one from Gavin in NYC. Instant video Game turn off is the title of this email. Hey guys, a big fan of the Sight. I was having a conversation with a co worker when he mentioned that all of the Mass Effect games were terrible, with Mass Effect being one of my favorite series. I thought to myself, well, this person has no idea what they're talking about and did not take anything else they said about

games seriously. I was curious if you guys also have a game that causes a similar reaction to that mass Efect conversation out on me. Assassin's Creed sucks, like like people that say that you don't trust them. Oh no, I'm the guy that says that. Oh oh you're saying, okay, if I mean you hold anything so dear that or like our or not even that. But just like, do you are there any opinions that you find Like if someone were too an express an opinion, they didn't like Super MARIOF little

weird. I mean, it's all, it's just opinions. That's why I've never understood the when people get pissed off at review scores and stuff. It's like, well, if you like it and I don't, just who gives a shit. I'm glad you like it. Like I think when people express like a real honest love of EDF, I am suspect if you want to tell me that you think that those games are funny because they're kind of bad. Sure, like we can have a conversation, but if you're a legitimate

sound like, no, these games are awesome. I know. I worked with a guy named Joe Duba who up and down said EDF was one of his favorite games. Weird. There are like a lot of you can say it's your favorite, But is he saying it's good? He like there are two different things. Okay, he can love them again, but is he saying that like mechanically like what they made? Are they saying it looks good plays? Well, I'm thinking back to his reviews, like the mechanics of

those games are stiff and suck ass. I want to say his reviews he did give him kind of around like seven or eight range, but he and ironically loves playing. This is that how the score the school or works over there? This is like seven or eight points are based on like I don't know the answer. Cool, and then the rest of it is like if it shoots wet like oh man, it fit into the console and booted seven

out of ten. Let's go from there. Another matrix Yeah yeah, fuck man edf is definitely one of them or good answer, good answer where I'm just like, I don't know, yeah, totally. I don't think there's a single thing that somebody could say that they loved or hated and they would make me just like completely yeah, it's it's there's nothing that's complete. It's definitely just like Zelda series. Maybe it's like forever no series is for everyone

totally. You know, like if you were gonna get on a soapbox and be like, Zelda is just shitty. It's never controlled. Well, it's just there's no creativity, I'd be like, well, you're wrong, but whatever, it doesn't affect my enjoyment of it. I mean, I think

you're well. I mean the question is more about like what somebody could say that would lead you to write off their opinions about other things or just you know, it's like if you think that, you probably one of the things where it's like, you know, I think, you know, it depends on how he framed that. If the guy and if the guy who doesn't like mass Effect is saying I don't like mass Effect, like that's perfectly fine.

Like I don't like dragon Age. A lot of people do. Uh, Like some outlets gave dragon Age Inquisition their game of the year, yep, and I just look at and go, yuys, you're fucking crazy. Yeah, but all right, okay, sure or whatever. It's the framing thing. Like if somebody says like, I'm not into Mario games, it's like, okay, it's not. But if somebody says, like the platforming sucks and Mario, I'd be like, well, that's that's a dumb thing.

This It's like that's just yeah. At that point, you're just like, well, you don't know, we're platform yea. At some point, I I get that way with there's a subset of people out there who not only don't like DODA, but want to make sure you know that they think it's the worst thing ever made. And those people invariably have never played it or don't know jack shit about it. Right, I'm sitting right here. At a certain point, I'm just like, who the fuck do you think

you're trying to impress? Like, yeah, like, is this is just? Is this just the turning up your nose. That's the thing that's popular to make yourself cool. I like, keep in mind that that's you know, that's what largely drove you know, a lot of the people not liking stuff like Gone Home. It's the feeling that drove me not liking MIST when Mist was new. Is it was gaming going in this direction and you're like,

that's not It's not for me. Nope, fuck that. If games go further in the direction of Miss, we've lost like all troll you know, Doda because you know, I don't personally like it, But yeah, I have not. I realized that there is a level of depth there. Like when I say that, oh, there's no strategy, I'm not even I'm not even talking about you so much. Yeah, there are a lot of people out there totally. I think that there there's fun to be had

at Doda's expense. For sure, there is, because seriously, people take it. But like I'm sure there is a serious right, Sure, I don't doubt that at all. Roshan only spawns once every fucking forty eight seconds or whatever. So it's it's between eight and eleven minutes. It's same thing as of eight minutes, he can spawn. If he hasn't spawned by eleven

minutes, he will spawn at eleven. Okay, there're times the cheese mm sure, so you know, yeah, so it's the people that will write off mobile games because yeah, that's yeah, yeah, yes, Well I think that that's something that like changed, you know, when when mobile games were first coming out and people were talking them up very dramatically, a lot of them that were very bad, and that you had that additional push of like dudes in suits saying no, this is the future, you're a video

games are dead. It's like, well, you're fucking wrong. And I'll tell you, for a dozen different reasons that don't show up on a fucking

spreadsheet why you're wrong. I mean to me, clearly, the important thing to remember is that nobody's video games are dead, right, everybody's video games are still alive and well, but yeah, and if this ship is big enough and diverse enough, I mean, look at how many fucking visual novels there are on Steam these days, Like like everybody's interests are being catered to. Well, not everybody's obviously, there's room for improvement, but sure.

But like any any like any any shitty negativity that comes from a place of they're taking my video games away is insane because like totally, and there are more games than ever. There's like more ship for you than there ever was before. Shut up. Yeah, And but it's it's it's one of those things that like, you know, like it's Mist was a very dark time for me, and I look back on it now and go like, ah,

that was pretty fucking stupid. But at the time, like you know, it was it was one of those things where you're like, man, well, like Doom is out also stuff that's all these great first person shooters and stuff. And then Mist was so popular so fast, and it drew all these people to games that had, you know, no idea what you know, what the other games were, and they just wanted you know,

it's like your parents were playing me and there. Early in mid nineties, the world as it pertained video games was much smaller than it is now. Totally, it was so when most media rolled in and and tried to say this is how it's gonna be, Like, there was that notion of just like wait, wait wait, it's like, oh wait, every video game

is just gonna have like shitty two bit actors in it now. Yeah, And you know, I was coming from the place of like I already saw this come and go once with dragons Layer and a lot of other stuff, like you know, like putting video into your game doesn't make it great. Rebel Assault was a great selling game that also apparently went on to become one of the most returned games of its era. Sure. I think also people that say things like, well, that's what you get from playing and on

a PlayStation like console war people that extends to everything. If you were just like, oh my phone crash, they're like, well, my Andrew just running fine, right, yeah shp Console Warriors like platform snobbery, fucking PC Master Race, frame rate snobs like, get over it. Yeah, there's there's room for pretty much everything at this point, I guess. Yeah, but yeah, but except for DF stamp it out. Stamp out, Yeah, stamp out those giants. Those bugs got a good yeah, and Majora's

mask those pretty much. And when people say they really genuinely like Majora's mask, at some point, I'm like, I don't know. You hired me to speak my video. I don't know. It's really good game. Pack South Street Pass. We lost one of our Major's mask apologists. Now maybe there'll be an accident to rid us the other one. Oh, I'm not really going to packs out them sending the end of the sun good time and San Antonio D. You're going you just may not come back. We're doing

a video feature out in the t Oh that sounds fun. Meet us out there. Okay, cool, We're all the clothes, bring props or anything. I just just you'll just drive out to this location. There'll be a car with an open trunk, just getting the trunk, close yourself in it. Oh, I like surprises. Yeah, it'll be fun. It'll be fun. All right, all right, Rory just waved we're going to wrestling. Oh yeah, I like wrestling. Yeah, perfect, have fun with

that book or tease runner show. I forgot to copy the email or I forgot to copy the name on this email. Pack South three Pass, Hey Brad, can you please remind the guys to bring their three DS? Is with them to pack South. I want to street pass with them so hard. I'll bring mine play some ma door on the plane. Also, why aren't you coming down? Because three packs is a year too many packses.

We'll see how packs goes. You know, I'm happy to hang back and let you guys run recon on. Yeah, with this being kind of the first one, we're you know, we're sending a smaller crew and kind of checking it out. Yeah, it seemed like tickets hadn't necessarily sold out. I don't know if they've sold out since, but you know, that's like I remember last time I looked last week. Sometime you can still get passes

for Friday, which is when our panel is. So if you're in San Antonio and have not bought a ticket, you might want to look into it. We'll be doing an hour on Friday night, uh, with me, Drew, Dan, and Alex. Yeah, Drew'll be filming, so don't fucking bother Drew with me, you and Alex. I wonder if wrestling is gonna come up. Probably not. I can't imagine. See if you can make it, see if you can make it through the panel that bringing up wrestling camera. Yeah, Hey, let me throw this out real quick.

We're gonna be in San Antonio during the Royal Rumble and I am actively trying to find a place to watch it, like a public venue, some some place, a bigger place, and I'm bringing my Bengal Hopper, so I want to do the my annual Royal Rumble raffle. I'm trying to decide what's like sadder or more desperate this Bengo Hopper thing. Or I have a friend who keeps a big spreadsheet of who eliminated who, and he fills it out over the course of the Royal Rumble, and that was always kind of a

bummer. Uh, it makes it so much, It makes it so much more fun for people that don't even follow you wrestling. So like, you know, I've taken girlfriends and stuff to the Royal Rumble and it's like they don't know, but like you're fucking duping them because realistically, the now, they're the number of people because when you get your numbers, yeah, and you see who you know who those entrants are when they run, and you'll know immediately if you have a can have a shot, would say it's these

people you're like roping into this that are like maybe this person will win. It's like, no, all six year points. It's random, Like I mean, it is, it is. But it's funny too because, like I remember, I had a girlfriend at the time and she had a number and Hacksaw Jim Duggan was one of the like surprise entrances, and everyone in the rooms like yeah, hack Saw and she's like, oh good, did I get a good guy. It's like, oh god, no, no,

it's gonna be immediately eliminated. You want you want one or thirty or twenty seven? Technically sure, okay, yeah, no, it's it's a super fun way to watch the rumbles. Everyone tips in ten bucks or whatever, like we usually have like ten or fifteen people and get numbers out of the Bengal Hopper based on that. Yeah, and then uh yeah, you let people draw their own numbers. I sit there with the Bengo Hopper.

I did last year's TI. I bought it. I went to Walmart and I bought the Bengal Hopper for seven dollars and uh yeah, I do it. And we have a chart and everything and who's got who? All right, I'm in all right, Well, we're bringing this on an airplane. I am bringing a Bingo Hopper on an airplane, which I do wonder when it goes through the X ray, this metal thing with a bunch of like little balls in it. I don't know. Didn't you say it was seven

dollars? Yeah? Why don't you just buy one when you get there? I don't know. Find on Bingo hoppers store Walmart. I drove around a shipload of stores in Minnesota to find that thing. Can't imagine finding a Walmart and in Texas. And there in Texas is all that difficult? I bet there's a lot of Walmarts in Texas. Yeah, but no, I got I got one. I bought it for this reason. Yeah, So we're

going out there. We're doing one panel. I'm on two panels on Friday, Friday afternoon, and then we're doing our panel Friday night, and then I'm doing another panel on Sunday that is designed to be just a question and answer session if people want to come ask me questions about whatever. That will not be filmed. It will not be filmed. We'll see who ends up crashing that. There's some other people in town for the show. Maybe we'll do some stuff, but yeah, we'll see how goes. I don't know.

We're gonna get out there and have some fun, so hopefully if people are gonna be there. Unknown if it will be live streamed either panel, Yeah, we're the We're starting to think it won't be live streamed. We don't have any control over that directly, but well we'll see the Shinta bomb packs panel. You will get wet, Yes, you might get soaked. Yes, Mike from Michigan. Dan hiding under bed calling cops. I was

recently watching the CDF Ghost Chip Unfinished with Dan and Drew or. Dan mentions that once he called the cops and hit under a bed, but he didn't go into details because it was quote a story for another time. It's now another time. If the story happens to be too personal, please ignore me. I've never shied away from personal questions. I'll give the short version of this. It was in college. I had a friend. I think everyone's got some of these friends that when they have a bit too much to drink,

they get kind of fighty or possibly stabby. And I had this friend that at the time was extremely, extremely drunk and for some reason decided he wanted to stab me. Uh so, anger or just yeah, you know what I've talked about, you know, I would poke you like I've been in weddings with him since this, Like we've talked about it, and like I think he was so out of his mind to this point that he didn't

even know what the reasoning was. So I was watching Legends of the Hidden Temple at three o'clock in the morning after the bars as you do, as you do, because yeah, I was at the bar, I was really drunk. We talked about old Nickelodeon shows, and then I realized I had that Nickelodeon Gas channel Games and Sports for kids, that air's nick Arcade and Legends of Hidden Temple and Doubledare which are all the best shows that have ever

happened. And so I was watching it at like three o'clock in the morning. Show Finders Keepers, uh, you know what, that was too early for Gas, but that was one of the first Nickelodeon game shows. I really got it. I figured if they were going to have their own channel, they would they would pull out the fucking reruns for that. You know, I don't think they're a lot on the guts best global guts everything.

Fighters do you have it don't want the agric Craig. But anyway, I was watching this stuff and long story shore, there's lots of details here. He tried to saw through my door with well, first of all, he I was sitting there and he came in the door with some beers and fell face first, like Chris Farley style, into my table, and I was really afraid he's gonna knock my TV off. And so I was like, okay, let's I won't say his name, but like, hey, let's

gonna take you upstairs. He loved right above me. It's like, okay, pass that on the couch. Here, just here, here's a puke bucket or whatever. Just chill out. Went downstairs, locked the door because I didn't want him to come back in, and all of a sudden I hear him banging on the door let me fuck in, and I was like, oh man, he's real messed up. I'm not gonna let him in. And then I hear him going upstairs to his roommates, give me a

fucking knife, like what's going on here? And him through the ceiling or whatever. No, he starts trying to saw through the front door. I hear like, like, fucking shining style, I guess, and I was like, this is weird. I guess, you know, I'll let him try to do this because he's not gonna be able to. And then all of a sudden, I hear him trying to get in through the window. And that's when I realized, oh shit, this is getting serious. He's

really out of his mind. A drunk person can get through a window usually. Yes, got a bona fide b and E on your Yeah, yeah, your hands. So I locked myself in the bathroom and called the cops and they came and they arrested him. And when I left the bathroom, there were muddy footprints all around my bathroom. He was walking around like he was right outside the door. And that was scary as shit that the cops showed me the knife that he had and everything. And it's a large individual.

He could easily kick my ass. Okay, that's not you know, a tall order. He could have overpowered you, is what I'm saying. Oh, if he wanted to stab you, he could have it without a shadow of a doubt. Okay, yes, yes, he was more of a fighting type. And I've never been a fight in my life, and uh so, yeah, he went to jail. They took him to jail, and I spent the next morning upstairs talking to his roommate, which is a good friend of mine, and just like, man, what the hell

happened him last night? That was insane. We were kind of talking about it. Now, you know, he's struggled with valcoll and stuff. All of a sudden, I hear banging downstairs at my apartment, just like, gay, open the fucking door. And I was like, Oh, he's out of jail. Okay, great, And then I hear him start to come upstairs and I'm in his apartment talking to his roommate. I was like, oh shit, And so I hid underneath my friend's bed and called the

cops, and they sent him back to jail. Wow on what grounds? I don't I don't remember what I mean. There's no official child and press charges you. We're friends now and everything, and we him my dad. And the second time, I don't know, he was so drunk. I think he must he was in a bad spot. And like when I walked outside when they were taking him away the second time, his mom was there crying because she'd picked him up in prison, Like what have you done to

my boy. Why are you sending my boy to prison? And I was like, your son was trying to stab you for no fucking reason at all. Uh so, yeah, but know we're good buds. Now, Okay, Ever, did you ever get an answer? And he still drinks? You said you you drink with him when he does. He is. He has settled down considerably. He was. He had a tumultuous college time, you know, with girlfriends and stuff like that, and he was always getting

into fights and things like that. But we did a straight answer out of him as to why he wanted to stab you. No, I mean there was never any weirdness there. We don't talk about. Yeah. Yeah, but he's one of those guys that settled down. He found the right ladies. He's got like nineteen kids now and you know, yeah, see he seems happy. Successful. So named Jim Bob it is not now. He's

a good dude, all right, all right now the world knows. Uh. Here's another email is Drew Scandlon related to the drummer from the Foo Fighters, Taylor Hawkins. The answer is yes, signed to Charles Beers Androy Baker. Based on the comments I've seen, he's just Sarah question he seems to asking an answer, an answer he seems he seems assured that the answer is yes. I suppose there are not many blonde people out there because a lot of people who are born blonde turn into brown haired. Yeah I had.

I had blonde hair for the first two three years. Yeah, turned brown. Now whenever anyone anyone blonde, they say, hey, you're like that guy. Yeah, I saw people with blonde hair tend to have my skin color palette. Sure, yeah light. I apologize to Charles for reading his full name out, but whenever you end your email signed full name, it's so formal, I have no choice. But most of the comparisons I do not mind. M. Yeah, yeah, that guy's uh, you can

see that guy. I don't know what that looks like, but he looks side. I was gonna say, he's in that Sound City documentary and he you know, I could see the resemblance. I guess uh. I thought he was gonna pull an obscure Scanlon into the mix. M. I don't meet many of those. Danny even said, like, it's an Irish name, and Danny, I don't think he even knows any personally. I can picture Danny pronouncing the word scanlon, and I guarantee it sounds exactly. Yeah,

it checks out there, You go, all right. Mike P from Byron, Illinois sends in an email about the highs and lows of the lobster game. Excuse me, hello, bomb mates, listening to your podcast. Last week, Dan mentions a lobster crane game. I wanted to write it in and let you guys know they exist, and then I rented one for about a month. You're going to rent them. I put it in the sports bar I managed, and it was just meant to be funny, and

it was only a week long lease. The first day that machine made the bar a thousand dollars. The lobster operator got forty percent of the take and came in every morning to make sure the lobsters weren't dead and cleaned it once a week. If a patron caught a lobster, our cook's in the back cooked it for them. The lobster guy gave us a really quick tutorial on how to cook them, and that was it. The first week was great, as the owner told me, I could keep the remainder of the cut

as a bonus since it generated a lot of buzz. Unfortunately, like all good things, that quickly escalated into something very bad. One Saturday night, a gentleman one quote unquote a lobster and quickly dismembered it. Alive. Lobster parts soon found their way onto table and other customers. Another patron took the

lobster dismemberment very hard and beat the lobster slayer pretty badly. The funny part was after he had knocked him clean out and the bar cheered for his heroic stand, the man unwrapped some butter pads and began to slather the person's hair and face while yelling this is for the lobster. The cops came and took both people to jail. This was on a weekday night, and no bouncers

were around to stop it. In case anyone wonders why none of this was stopped, the lobster machine soon went from a beacon of curiosity to borderline animal cruelty as the crowd that was rabid to play soon felt for the lobsters. So we called the lobster man back and he came and got his machine and moved it down the road to another bar. So yeah, so it sounds lucrative. That's oh man, that's the lobster crane gate. I didn't know you could rent them. I kind of wanted to put one in front of

my apartment now and just shakes the profit. There you go, it's a big live love show. Would just have this lobster crane over there in the corner. Bad idea. I could probably cook a lobster, take a run at it when I've never I think it's pretty easy. It's throwing some hot water, right. Yeah, it's also alive when you throw it in there. Oh that seems sad. Yeah, yes it's yes, that is that

is true. Uh, emails, more emails. Let us see. You can go catch lobsters if you have a license any really, Yeah, a lobster and license. Yeah. Why did they put it in a live Why don't they just do something like some humane like a little ether ragged put it out? Yeah, put it in there? Does it taste? That's weird. I don't think it makes any difference other than people don't care. Yeah, it's a little bit. It's a little bit grim. It's a little

morbid. That's like that weird duck thing you were telling me about. Yeah, FuG raw Yeah, that's fucked up. Yeah, it's fucked up. And they made it legal again in California. I guess, mhm, it seems necessarily it's disgusting. I tried it. That's I was not a fan. Sorry, I'm taking stock of the emails here. Oh no, I forgot to put the name on this one. Also, I apologize. Copying and pasting out of Gmail is not an exact science. Now you know,

rock band Coffee makers, says person Okay Greeting's mom crew. I work for a company that, among other things, has done extensive research into coffee makers and what makes a good cup of coffee. We have tested everything from European vacuum assisted coffee bongs to three thousand dollars units that you mount inside a wall. I want to know what a coffee bong is now I have to look it up. It's just like all the fucking Will Smith's ship. We chemists

on cold press, like creepy, creepy coffee. I know, all right, he says. If Brad is still looking for a new bullshit coffee maker, I recommend the Zoji Roushi ECBD fifteen. We use it every day and make it scientifically proven good cup of coffee. It's also well under one hundred dollars. Japanese has an elephant for a and comes in a box with an awesome eighties stock picture. If a turkey dinner, all right, because nothing

makes me think coffee like a turkey down, I'm sold on it. That being said, the company I worked for also played a minor role in the release of the original rock band Instruments. Since you were talking about a rock band re release last week, I was wondering, do you think any changes should be made to the plastic instruments? Would new features be seen as a gimmick? Do you think new instruments would be included at all? Oh? So, that's actually a pit of news that we missed is that they ran

Hormonius survey. That's right. That makes it very clear that they are investigating making a new rock band. Yes, because it's stuff like, you know, hey, what are the most valuable features of rock band? In order? Was it playing online with other people? Yeah? No? Was it weekly DLC? Yeah? Was it healthy on disc collection? Sure? You know. It's like if it was compatible with the old instruments, would you be psyched? How would you want to buy a rock band? It's a

digital thing. It was a full band, kid is something with one instrument and like, you know, like that sort of like do you still have working rock band instruments? Was one of the question. Actually, we got a couple other emails in that vein one person asking in particular about you know, don't you include that email? Maybe I did, maybe I did not, asking about you know what. I'm gonna read that email right now because here it is Josh from k C. Let's just follow on with the recent

rock band DLC and rumors of a next gen game. Would Harmonic's benefit by going exclusive specifically Sony after the bad will that was caused with the Connect Unbundling and Fantasia game along with a relationship with Sony and Ampletude. Would it be possible? More so, since Sony has roots in music and movie soundtracks, couldn't that save time and money and licensing that music that I assume was problematic

originally. One thing I'll say about like the existence of Sony Music and Sony Pictures and blah blah blah, is that I don't get the sense that those divisions of that corporation worked together at all. Right, Yeah, I don't think there's there's probably not much synergy in there, like if anything, almost sounds like there might be more headache and if some things like that happen. I had also seen somebody some people in the press were floating the opposite idea,

which was rock band going exclusive to Xbox. I don't know what that was with respect to like, I don't know what Microsoft can offer that Sony can't. Well, I feel like, you know, Microsoft was definitely or the the Xbox three sixty was certainly like the platform. It seemed like the platform for I was gonna say, like the that's the one consideration. Yeah, you know, it got rock band network because of the creators stuff that

they had on the three sixty. Wad PS three. Never get that no rock band network on PS three was like some tracks would get upgraded into proper DLC and then sold on the rail. I thought rock band net worth was on both and then on the Wii. It was apparently just like updating the store a week to week was a nightmare because you had to re submit the whole thing or whatever it was, right, Yeah, I don't know.

I feel like, you know, in terms of just like in roads with labels like they already have those relationships, you know, from making rock Band, from making Dance Central, like the getting to the labels, getting to the bands. They already know how to do that. They already know how their business works, and like how much it costs them to master these songs and and and track the chart them out and stuff. So it just becomes a matter of, like, you know, for that amount of money,

what bands can they get? What bands can't they get? Sure, and that sort of thing. I was gonna say, like the sales data on which platform sold the most, LC probably would make the most sense if they were looking at some deal like this, just in terms of roping people back in. I mean stuff the rock band stuff sold sold incredibly well on the Wii as well, just by virtue of it being a huge platform, a huge, huge platform with a very casual audience like rock band was you know,

had had a wide appeal. But you know, most of those people didn't have a we hooked up to the internet and don't even know that you can download music, so, uh, you know that's an issue, right. And then there's you know, there's a whole question of whether old dealc you would even carry over. Yeah, I think that was one of the questions on their survey was DEALC compatibility. How important is that to you?

Which it's very sure, incredibly of the utmost like I was saying, I would say, like for people if you're launching from from starts from zero from people, for people who spend hundreds of dollars on that ship, Yeah, yeah, totally, yeah, for sure. So yeah, I don't know. I think they should make another rock band. I just don't know how the business end of any of that stuff works. Yeah, the question from the first email or who, in my defense, asked not to have their

name included, so that's why included. But in terms of what they said, they said, like would there even be new instruments like I mean, if if you have to be for compatibility, well yeah, yeah, I mean they would want to make native instruments for those platforms, but they could probably also make it work. I mean, you know, you can use PS three fight sticks on PS four the driver, so the P three that

you could almost definitely make it work. When the Xbox it might get sticky because they're weird proprietary, you're the wireless instruments might make it to a little tricky, but they could have an adapter, you know, they they've they've done USB adapters before for instruments and stuff, so there's probably a solution there. Uh. But yeah, I think if anything, like, you know, making a new rock band is probably an exercise in making it as simply

as possible and making use of existing instruments where available. So like, as much as I want to think that, like, oh, you know, there's cool stuff they could do to all those instruments to make them different, like put a sixth button on the guitar, Like I don't know that that actually matters, right, No, Yeah, so you know, I bet they won't support pro instruments in whatever they do next. That that's not because

they sold those separate upgrades for more money. You know, it's like a weird like that stuff always just seemed like such an outlier and then and rock Smith kind of owns that part of yes, uh, that part of this now, if you want to, if you want to use a real guitar, rock Smith is your game. Yeah. But yeah, I'm really fascinated you and I really like rock band. I would love to see them make another rock band. Do you guys think that the rock band name is more

valuable than the Guitar Hero name at this point. I bet it's not. You don't think so. I don't know, because there's been like some suggestion that like, oh what if Activision wanted to revive Guitar Hero and went to the people who invented Guitar Hero created in the first place and have them do it. Yeah, Like, I think there would be incredible value bringing and bringing those things back together. Yeah. But for Harmonics, I mean, they own the rock Band property, they do. Yeah, so of course

they want to make the thing that they own over in rock Band. I like it. So what is those unholy union? Yeah, I mean, you know that will make all of existence. I think the rock Band is is the brand that probably speaks wider to people who are in the know about the quality of these games. Sure, but I think the Guitar Hero probably still to this day, has like some kind of wider mainstream recognition. That's probably true. Yeah, it could be an interesting year with that stuff if

they start got new Tony Hawk coming. Yep, it's fucking ridiculous out there. Can't wait to get another one of those plastic skateboards in here. Yeah, it'd be great. Oh god, damn it. Oh yeah, all right, consuming drugs and stupid ways. Uh this guy, this guy put the disclaimer at the very top not to include his name, So in that case, I can tell you he did not want his name included. All right. I enjoyed your discussion the stupid things people have done to get high.

I too, knew some dummies who engaged in robo tripping. Here's a story of a more notably stupid thing I witnessed. This is pretty good. A friend of mine grew a bunch of mushrooms. Fun times were had, and then everyone was sad that we had no more mushrooms. All we had was the big bin of dirt in which the mushrooms grew, and a lot of free time and the Internet. Naturally, this led to one of my friends discovering that although the bulk of the hallucinogenic material turned into big, chewy

mushrooms, some of it was just infused into the dirt. Why don't we just eat the dirt, asked one of my friends. For me to the answer to that question was because I have some self respect. But that weekend, several of my friends worked over a few hours to eat large handfuls of theoretically hallucinogenic dirt. Some ate in small nibbles, some mixed it in with other food. One guy covered his dirt with chocolate fudge. No matter what

method they chose, it was pretty disgusting. I would like to now say that this was totally ineffective, and these more arms went to bed with bellies full of dirt because that would be funnier. But actually it totally worked, and they tripped balls. Wow. I think only one person puked. I escaped the situation with my dignity intact. And then the next week they realized they could get the same effect by brewing tea from the dirt, which I

totally drank. It tastes like a big glass of dirty bathwater. Growth. Don't do drugs, Yeah, don't do that. Listen to this, Listen to these. Yeah, drink beer comes on a bottle, you buy it at the store, and ads to psychedelic mushrooms. They're addicted to mushrooms. They'll do anything to get it. I'm only saying that because then someone left. Actually, you can't really get addicted to mushrooms. I don't know if it's totally safe. I don't think you can. I know I know,

I know, Okay, it's cool. How about a couple of video game emails cleanse the palate? Sure make you feel a little better about being here. I feel like it's a ropotop. I feel like you're gonna ask a couple and then whatever's coming after that is gonna be way worse. This is pretty okay, all right? Go on, Michael and concord California conquered, conquered, conquered for day, Concord conquered, conquered. We're going to conquered. Why you have been because where I'm from, there's a concord. Okay,

this is just conquered. Also, go to conquered. Also, what don't go to conquer? Also the plane the concord doesn't that doesn't eat. Yeah, so yeah, the concord is totally different. I project your explanation. They retired the concord. True. I keep hearing you guys talk about far Cry four. If I haven't played any of Far Cry three, should I just skip straight four? Or is it worth an extended experience? Did

you get far Cry three cheaply and then play through both? I mean you you probably get Farkry three for a decent discount and probably and have the more I play four, or the more I feel like I had more fun with three, really not the other way around. I mean, I love the problems with three, which were mostly and then kind of disappointments and storytelling. I think if you were looking for a discount version of that experience, you're looking to wade in and kind of see if it's any good, and like

getting a cheap copy of three is totally acceptable. Yeah, I would play three. I try to get it on PC or whatever. But if money

isn't the worry, then I think four is the superior. I don't know what four or four is a little more refined and I guess so maybe maybe a lot of it was just the newness of like, oh they finally yeah farcry and married it to like that winning Open World Formula cool which Malaria several years several years later is now super played out, But at the time I was like, holy shit, like they took their first person shooter and made it one of these games. That's cool. Yes, play three. I

had another email here. Okay, this is slightly retreading the Saints or discussion from earlier, but it's got an interesting angle so I'm gonna read it. Daniel from Ontario. Jeff was wondering where the Saints Row franchise could possibly go next during the gat Out of Hell Quick Look. Could it be the Volition will return to its roots and make another space combat game. Volitions Jim Boone

said on interviews that he'd love to work on another Free Space. It seems like they deliberately set up the end of Saints or four so that if they don't get to make free Space next, they can at least make something like it and give it Saints Roe dressing. I personally love to see an open world space shooter that's more character driven and filled with side activities like Saints Row. The only recent games the future open space, such as X three and

Elite are pretty dry and lifeless. I think a Saints Row free space game would be Yeah, I'm totally with you. That's why I wanted to put that email out there. Uh yeah, like the Saints Row humor and like characterizations and stuff in your dry ass like space commerce game. That sounds pretty great, pretty funny. I don't know, like, are we're gonna get to the point where Saint Row is more of a theme than a type of game, right that any possible game type is eligible for the Saints Ro treatment.

Speaking of Space Homeworld is going to be the packs really really yeah? Okay, is that not the hdification or the remaster whatever they're calling him. All Saints Row is like the scary movie, date movie dance movie of the video game. And this Tree Saints Row game they'll call it. Meet this purpose Jesus Christ. All right, here we go, Marco from Brazil. Uh, game phobias, I have yep, all right, you got it,

good job. I have a racking phobia, a deep paralyzing fear of spiders, which makes it very difficult to play games like Skyrim or Dark Souls or any game that features these nasty creatures. Do any of you experiencing anything like this? I don't like bugs, Yeah, but I mean, but it's not keep you from playing a game with bugs in them. No, such as Earth Defence Force. Oh that's what. Those aren't even bugs, man. Those ants freeze up and like fade through the ground. It's like

you're fighting styrofoam ants. Those ants can phasee through normal matter. They could be anywhere. Think about it. Oh man, it's terrifying. I think The one thing that kind of got close to that with me was I have a real thing about any kind of tooth pain or eye pain, like, so like whenever I had like cavities or lay sick and stuff like, it just scared the shit out of me. So that stand in dead space too was like fuck, like just thinking about it, it's pretty it's a pretty

unpleasant scene. Yeah, yeah, stuff like that. But outside of that, like, you know, bees scare me, but like a be in a game didn't scare me. I have a hard time falling from great heights and video games really like I feel it in my stomach. I feel like butterflies in my stomach when I jump off the top of like a giant church and Assassin's Creed really like just like as if I were falling in real life. Like it's just like it's this weird, like like feeling of vertigo where

I have to look away from the screen. It's not pleasant. I got that when I was playing Half Life two with the Oculus. I've played like five hours. Yeah I can. I can imagine that doing it with Oculus would be like intolerable. Yeah, the part we're like the helicopters chasing the near the beginning, and you're going around the outside of those windows like I remember, like genuinely feeling afraid of falling. Oculu's pretty cool. So I

hear all right, Your final email comes from Ben. He calls it Dan of the Rings. Okay, dear Dan. If Lord of the Rings is as dumb or I'm sorry, at least sorry every if Lord of the Rings is a dumb thing for dorks, how do you reconcile led Zeppelin having eight billion songs about Lord of the Rings? Are you saying we play it is a dork? Have you decided I did that you're cooler than led Zeppelin and are now going to wear tight jeans. I am not cooler than led Zeppelin.

Did we take this email before we take I think this on the loss. I think this is when we lost the emails. Yeah, yeah, well maybe this this was within the last week since recent Yeah, because they do or someone else asked. I do remember saying all right, we can we can resurrect a little piece of that lost podcast. Then yeah, I'll talk about bitch I'm Madonna later. Oh yeah, I'm not coolering led Zeppelin. Very few people are the wrong stone Maybe yes, eight billion songs.

Lord of the rings Okay, you got Missy Mountain Hop, you got ramble On Ramblone, where I hate because I love the song Ramblon so much. But then that goes just explicitly Lord of the rings On in its like mort Wory got on the evil One, crept up and took away with her in the darkest depths of Mortory. Yes, uh fucking led Zeppelin. What a

bunch of door Yeah, fucking led Zeppelin. There's some kind of spacey dudes, like like Jimmy Page is all into the occult, which we I feel like we talk about that every What do you want out of your rock band? Your seventies rock band? You want into rolling? Just a bunch of dudes that listen to a lot of blues growing up and then I got drunk and made a cool fucking band. You want your want by drunk, you mean shot a lot of heroin? That that too? Yeah? Uh no?

Is that one? Uh yeah? You don't like whatever you like? You know you want you want your spacey, far out types in a rock band sometimes yeah, I don't know, Like I don't like people black Sabbath, You know, Sabbath isn't because they're a little too like, uh, they're the themes, you know, I like, be careful man, there's I'm not. I'm not a big Sabbath militant Sabbath fans out there, No, I just I just like bands that's saying about just real world normal stuff

like drinking and all of ladies and stuff. Yeah, that's that's why I don't like Black Sabbath's all about like Satan and stuff and magic and crap. Like, uh, you know, I like just a normal guy stuff. I love the idea of adventure metal, but I don't actually enjoy it. I like it when it's like Dio and you're just going fucking weird with it, and like your videos have dumb animatronics and both ways. I like the I like the ultra cheese factor of DO, but I also like the subtler

stuff that Zeppelin. Zeppelin doesn't go too heavy handed on it, and Zeppelin had at the heart is just a bunch of dudes that love blues. You know. What I like is a good guitar riff, Jimmy Page, give me, give me, give me a good lick, and everything else follows from there. So I'm not lys and a lot of you know, classic rock songs because they are so mumbled and yeah, often often easy to uh ignore. Well, there you have it. Robert Plant not a dork,

no weird spacey dude, but I mean he's he's Robbert Plant. Come on, Robert Plant, not a dorc Bombcastle giant bomb dot com. That was all the emails that I put in here. Uh, can you play Connect if you are guar? I did some investigative journalism on that. If you want to google that exact question, you will find the answer in video form.

I had guar come the game informer and when Connect first came out, right, But I'm trying to I'm trying to figure out what would prevent you from like all the weird ships sticking out of their uber, all the rubber and everything. When it first came out, there's all that debate about like, oh, you know, depending on like what is it, like the time of day or skin color and stuff like Conneck would have trouble things. Yeah, sitting down standing up about a group of guys with a bunch of

extra appendages sticking out. Yeah, Well, basically I just saw that they were coming to town. I was like, I need to think of some stupid reason they have them coming here, just want a reason to beat Guar. Yeah, let's be honest. It was worth it. So yeah, google that there were some cool dudes, which one is no longer with us. Dave Brocky was odorous Rounggus. He was the main dude that came and they were. They drank our beer game Informer, as you would expect Guar

to do. Yeah, and on top of our vending machine, they wrote Guar for Guar was here in the dust, which is probably still there. Great in Minneapolis. So next one, nice guys, it's good to hear. All right. Well that is going to do it for this week's edition of the podcast. You guys are leaving for San Antonio Thursday morning. Thursday morning, Thursday morning, you guys are out, Yes, yes, after that, I'll be back yeah Tuesday, okay. I will either be back

Wednesday or Tuesday. Wait what time Tuesday? I think I'll have to check. I think I fly back Monday. Okay, so I'll be in the office Tuesday, I think. So we have to do another podcast next week. I'll be fine for that. Speaking of podcasts, I'd like to do a quick plug for I mean Danny are doing this thing called you see both of our names or Dan or Danny. Wait you lost me? Well okay, so you know when you when you asked them in a question, you

get an answer. We're doing a podcast called Dancers d Answers. Yes, guys like interpretive dance. No nope, not not not that lamb stuff tap or you're learning to it's like river dance. Yeah, okay, now real life question Michael Flatley on that's cool. Yeah. Wow. It's gonna be two guys with vastly different life experiences and probably approaches to things different. Different

you know, body types and styles of movements. Yeah, yeah, you know, yeah yeah, like I know, I know Danny has classical training and you're more kind of free form. Yeah yeah, yeah, you're kind of more of an urban yeah yeah yeah. Incorporates all these kind of like almost like Park who asks into real I don't like to brag with it, you know. Yeah, mixed medium, mixed medium ours. But it is

a premium podcast. We will be answering questions of really any kind. We've kind of build it as a life advice podcast, but you can just ask whatever fucking questions you want. Dan Danny man's the email account. He'll he'll ask him, I'll answer him. He'll answer him too. Might my dad call in for some dad responses? So yeah, we're gonna have some fun with that. That'll be in the next couple of weeks. So some dad and dad answers. We'll have to figure out something there. Do you know

what the email address is for? The email address is ask Dancers again. It's answers with the d ask Dancers at Gmail though to answers the questions and dancwers with Danny Danny. Yeah, oh okay, yes, when's that going up? Yeah, at some point the next couple of weeks. Obviously the schedule is kind of weird right now with pack stuff, so we might record it before. But uh, yeah, we plan on doing this regularly if people like it, so send your questions in and we will answer them.

Excellent. So yeah, packs, you guys are gone. Yep, Jason is on vacation, Alex is coming with Alex in San Antonio with you. That leaves Vinnie and I as the sole occupants of our respective office. Yeah, so, uh, live streamed phone call between We're going to figure out stuff for Thursday and Friday. It'll be fun. I think. I certainly do not intend to come into this office by myself, so I will be

streaming a bunch of stuff from my house. I haven't talked to Vinny a whole lot yet about what will happen, but so, yeah, there will be no regular, regular format upf this week, obviously. Yeah, but you're planning on doing some kind of things. We will. We will come up with some plan. Video will be broadcast on the internet at the appointed times, all right, and other times probably, uh, And then you guys are back next week more or less. Yeah, once we're back.

Basically, I won't say any specifics, but we have several premium things tentatively scheduled soon after coming back. All right. We'll stay tuned then for more content because that's the end of this content. Yes, goodbye. I meet my roommates. Rachel is an X ray technician by day and a volunteer at the dog shelter by night. Nicole moved in last December. She's the quietest

because she spends her evenings retouching photos. Jeremy just got a job at the local library, and on the weekends he likes to hang out at the jazz Club downtown. And finally, this is Adam who grew up in Phoenix. He works for a landscape company and specializes in pruning large trees. They're a great group. They're a great group. My favorite cut is the bonus cut that's only in the iTunes version
