Transcript

Mmmm, twenty fourteen. It's a new year, a new year full of new video games. Twenty fourteen more like twenty snore. Are you gonna be a video game? It's like Halo Spartan Assault. Halo Spartan Assault, twenty snore blacks teen Okay, yeah, yeah, twenty yes, funny core meat teens. You know, I don't want to be a bummer here, but anybody else feel like twenty fourteen. It's just a holding period until twenty fifteen. Twenty fifteen sounds like a year. Sounds like a year. Yeah,

yeah, in twenty fourteen is just like lead up to twenty fifteen. All right, we let's just tread water and we'll do this week's edition of the Giant Bomb Cast. All right, that's what it might be like Star Trek movies. Weird, like the even numbers are good. Yeah, let's say what I was twenty twelve, Like, yeah, I was a banger? Sure was it? I just looked into light now blind, don't look into I mean, we can turn the lights off. You think that would help.

I got that thing back in my Caravella. Yeah, Hi Jeff Gersman, Hello, Ali, Welcome to twenty fourteen. It's great to be here. It's fantastic to be here. I'm so happy it's twenty fourteen. It's great that I'm here with Drew Scanlon. Hi, Brad Shoemaker can come as well. Fourteen and introducing and introducing Brad Shoemaker in a role that will surprise you. This is when it got all weird, and twenty fourteen we had to add Brad and yeah, we had to bring Brad in. Finally became

a series regular. Yeah, it was weird. It's no longer a featured player. Yeah. Yeah, as arbitrary as the years stuff is, And you know it always does. With the break, it does feel like wipe as much of that slate this comes off, you know, it's like a dryer raseboard. Not everything comes off. Yeah, there's a little bit left over and you look at it and go like fuck, somebody wrote in permanent marker instead of a dry race marker. But most of it came off,

and I feel great. I don't know, man, you're putting servers together and yeah, I took a part that whole cabinet and put things back in that are different. I'm gonna clean my desk. I got a hair cut there you go, yeah, like, that's that's all you can ask for. It's a new year. It's a new year. Something's happened. You know, my pants still don't fit. Okay, that's that's that's the bummer to me. There's certain aspects of last year are still linger. You don't

just reset everything. Yeah, life carries over and enough New Year's days, man add up over the years. What you know what I'm saying. Yeah, I do. Yes, absolutely, I'm what I'm saying. Whiteboard compounds every year, which the ship that's left over, And sometimes every year you got to put a new registration sticker on your car. And every year you say, this is gonna be a year I find a razor blade and razor off all the old stickers. But then it comes around you just go,

oh fuck it and just put the sticker over the old sticker. Sometimes I take the little license plate holder off. I had to do that this morning. I had to take the license plate holder off to get sticker. Say, like, where you bought the car? It does? I hate it? I hate it. It says worried about the car, and it's disgusting. Yeah, buy you one. But but it was a bitch on the bottom. That's right. It's gonna say bitch queen queen of the bitches.

If this car is a rock and queen to the bitches. Yeah, if you can read this, the bitch fell off, right is that the don't know that? That's bikers would have that. I think that's their old lady on the back. That's kind of funny, kind of or offensive? Well, it's can it can be both? Yeah, I guess funny then offensive. It's all about perspective, and if you can read this in your perspective. Is fourteen The podcast of Champions returns. When is that on that right

after this one? I should listen to that. Yeah, Heads comes on right after this one. It's coming up next. Brad records it on his own. It's his DODA podcasts breaks down patch changes, Who won Champions? Yeah, which champion is the champion? What are they called? And Doda? Are they called champions? That's a league thing? Okay, I don't know. Characters, dudes, characters, dudes, heroes. It's ladies and gentlemen. Ancient defenders, yes, an ancient defenders. All right, Doda's

done. It's twenty fourteen, exactly right. Doda is over. If you wanted to. It's all about that. It's all about Blizz Heroes of the Storm, New Storm. Yeah, heros of the New Storm. Will you guys play that? I heard someone someone I have not heard a lot about that game, but someone said it was like Super stripped down by comparison, and like sounds like it might not have So here's my thing about video games twenty fourteen. We're gonna get the thing. Here's the thing. Finally,

I don't like games. What got shops in them? You're very gone too far that aren't persistent shops. And this ties into what we were saying about Halo Spartan Assault earlier, because the shop is not persistent in DODA. What's a persistent shops? Like if I buy an item, I want to have it forever. I don't like this idea of like I need to buy stuff out of store in a certain order and do it every single match this same way. Like I didn't like Counterstrike for the same reason because at the start

of every round it's like I gotta buy stuff like it was. It's not an insurmountable hurdle, but it was enough. At the beginning of me starting to play Counterstrike, I was like, man, fuck this, I don't want to think about what kind of just give me the guns. Oh I can't afford the gun I like to eat, fool, What the fuck am I doing? I'm gonna go play Quake because that has the gun I really like to use. You still have to pick up the rocket launch for every

time. That's fine, though there's no money monetary transaction. Feels like I'm earning a rocket launcher by going and getting it yet, right, yeah? Fuck So you don't like So that's the whole concept of the shop and the courier stuff in Dota. I mean, granted, there are there's a long list of things in Doda that make me not want to play Doda, but

that is that is definitely one of the things. Well, with that many playable characters, I mean they all use different items, so they're very they're God, there's like maybe three items in the whole game that like every single character can use effective. Then they should just have a straight up regular upgrade tree for those characters that includes those items and eliminate the shops, shouldn't they.

I mean that's just donell. But getting to the shop getting the items as part of the you know, that's part of the push and pull. That's part of the But isn't it a dumb part of the push and pull? Because you know you can you can zone people out by Yeah, sure I can. You know, it's it's like math control. It's like preventing someone from getting the all right, stopping somebody from getting their items, can you know give you a huge advantage? All right? That's no, Okay,

totally fine. I just don't like that game. I don't. I don't know. I thought I saw that Heroes of the Storm doesn't have items. Yes, so that is what someone wrote me and said, hey,

are you gonna play this game? Because it doesn't have a shop or items or any of that bullshit, and team experience is shared and there's no last hits, and so it just sounds like I was making like just they're taking out any nuance and just going like, any idiot can play this fucking game that's super dumbed down, even next to League, which removes mechanics from DODA.

You know, that's that's crazy. So I don't know that. Again, that is just a person asking me if I was going to play that game, and then listening a bunch of things that make it sound like they dumbed it down. Hell of So so what's the verdict? I don't know. Like with those things make you try, it's still an RTS without the RTS bass building stuff in my eyes, So that's sort of what if? Okay, here's another way to look at it. What if it was an

RTS mixed with quake. What if it was an RTS that was just about killing other people playing the game? I don't like no, because I don't I don't like, uh caring about units in an RTS style game. I like to build swarms of them and if they die, great, I don't fucking care. Why didn't like Warcraft three hero units are bullshit? What except for Jimmy Rayner, there's an exception that every to every rule, jim Rainer, what if it were one how many people on the side? Five?

So what if you five guys spawn and you know they have the hero five guys spawn and the creeps go. But when you go to attack another player, it zooms in and becomes like a fighting game and then you just the two of you guys have like a fighting match. So it's Dota. So okay, all right, let me wrap my mind around this. So it's r CON but instead of a chess board, it's like whatever, an RTS

matt whatever, the doda, whatever the DODA is. Yeah, so say like moral Kombat, right, like Scorpion and everybody's spawns on this side, and then the other guys, like you know, Johnny Kate spawns on the side. But then when they meet, you know, you kill the minions or whatever that are fighting in the middle, and then when you two meet, it just turns into a moral combat match and the other people who are watching just see like an overhead of that ship happening in the real timy Like,

but you're in a side fighting, would you play then? I don't know. Maybe, I don't know. I'd give that a shot because that sounds fucking ridiculous. But they didn't have to buy a spear, And I like Arkon if you're if you're a Scorpion, no all right, no you have to save about money? Yeah, I love Arkon. They remade it. I heard it was that that was not so good, like fan remake. Yeah, I don't know why. Well, it's I think just conceptually that was a game very much of its era, and you know, like

the action side of Arkon. You know, modern fighting games and stuff like that have gone off in a really crazy direction. And did you ever play the Arkon equivalent that they did for Mortal Kombat? No on, It was like a PS two Xbox era like they did Chess combat or whatever. That was just like Mortal Kombat characters on a chess board and the fights were fights. Wait, which they made Arkon? Was that built into one of the

main cont releases? Yeah, okay, yeah, I vaguely remember back when they were making like fucking cart racing games in NKA and all sort of stuff, like they just straight up made our camp. Yeah, I think I remember that. I forget which one that was. It was Deception, I don't know whatever. Those all those games kind of run together as games. I promising there were some cool things about those games, but not in a

way that stands out in any way today. Yeah, what if you met in the middle and then you have like a random like Wai to ware style thing came up, and then maybe one's a cart race and you got a race around that map while everybody else is just fighting. Yeah, all right, like a Mario party Mobi. Yeah, so it's just when you meet on the map and any game occurs, and that determines what happening between you

two guys and everybody else who's watching from the top ten view. Just he's like two cards, yeah, you know, riding around in a circle. Okay, I think DODA needs more weird mods, like I want to go into a roll the Dice server DODA. Yeah, right, first person shooter mode DODA. You can you can want to to mod that makes it so

okay. So you're this silent dude with a crow bar, right, and there are some alien dudes, and there's this guy who looked astensibly works for the government but you don't really know, and he's always talking to you d man. Yeah, these are all great ways to make DODA more accessible. Yeah, the International four is going to all be played in this mode. It's very exciting. The b KB is now crow bar always was. Oh, well, you're the thing that stops other people from using stuff on you,

the crow bar. Yeah, the crow bar. You're the crow bar. You're of the crow bar. Wait a minute, are we making predictions already? So you're the crow bar? What is it? You're the horse? Uh? I think so? Yeah? There you go. Gross. Yeah, well not yet in like, yeah, two weeks, two and a half weeks. I think I think literary New Years First, the monkey, Snake, I think spake. I'm pretty sure it's snake, my brother for Christmas. You're the cat on vinyl, but out of season, not

the right year for it. Yeah, that's bad. I gotta wait a long time to play it. Fair enough, at least you're ready. Yeah, we're back. Okay, after a couple of weeks out of the office, we're back in this office. The stuff that deadens the sound as still on the walls here, but a lot of the lamp is going The lamp disappeared. Wait where to go? I don't know, but it didn't work

when we left. And this monitor that used to sit on the other side of this monitor that I'm looking into, that used to show whenever I looked on the TriCaster. See I'm watching like c nets CS coverage over here, and it's some guy wearing an ear piece in the wrong ear because he's turned to the way that you just see all your piece. You think somebody would get mad if we put that thing back where it was. Well, I don't think it was that. No, No, it was another monitor.

Oh wait, there's no this This monitor has always been here that I can see. The one that was facing us, one was facing away. I don't know, maybe they took it too CS. I don't know, maybe maybe Yeah. Like I got up here and realized, like there's no one sitting in any these desks, and I was like, geez, did we come back early or like realize like maybe all these people are at CS is gonna come back all curve damn it, stupid ass Curve TV bullshit. But

they look fancy. Man. I don't know. I really feel for those people having to cover CES. Oh you know, it's like, do you have to come back from your holiday break right into covering a trade show? I don't know. What's the ideal think about it? As well? It depends on how hard you cover the show, right I mean, if you're there and you're like really working like an E three style workload, then yeah,

that's that's what I'm saying. What I'm saying is if what if we were at E three right now, yeah, that would be a bummer. But if we were at CES right now, we would be looking at TV's for five minutes and then just drunk somewhere right take a few meetings, and then there's so little for a to do for game stuff at cs. I'm talking to fun, I'm talking about people in the tech industry, yeah, who do have to work that thing. But even that, like the are

there that meaning annoucements anymore? Like Apple holds its own stuff, like so many companies hold their own events for the products that really matter that it seems like this is just literally now the show where like, hey, the TV's are curved now, all right, yeah, see you next year. I had a good time when I went with Tested. Yeah, we had a lot of people that a lot of editors and shooters. Yeah, it was.

It was editing for most of it. I think it is weird looking at like you knows, keeping an eye on the verge or something like how much of the actual news at that thing is targeted at stuff nobody you know we'll ever buy yep, you know, yeah, like those like those ten thousand dollars curved old tv s. I think like this for like five years maybe until it well, but every every year the big headlines are all the

things that are like oh it's prototype or oh it's twenty grand. You know, it's fun to read though it is, but it's at the same time like I would like to read about things like it actually, but CES has like always been that way because when I was going in like ninety two or ninety two, there were definitely TVs that were there that you looked at and just went like, what, that's not a square. But in those cases, they weren't even selling those TVs. It was like Sony was there.

Its like here's it was like a concept car, but a TV. It was like, look at this thing, like, oh, it's a three D hologram television. That's really great. When's it coming out? Never? Oh cool, it's really great. Thanks for bringing it's the only one that exists in the world right now. Yeah, oh well when you get him mass produced these never But I find that more exciting than somebody showing me what I can buy. Well, I guess I like, yeah, because when

we can buy is just as boring too. Yeah, well that's what I mean. I wish TV is slightly nicer than the one I just bought. That's what I'm saying. I wish there were interesting things that were available for I just think that tech is boring now, maybe like as soon as cell phones got boring again, like over the last year or two. I don't know about you guys, but I'm fucking bored to death with the iPhone, and I still find new phones exciting. I saw my four G four US.

Yeah, you know the stuff they keep doing to Android like a great Like I don't really want a bigger phone. It's now like the like the apps are not getting that much more interesting that I'm like, it's not the early days of the iPhone three G going like I'm downloading five apps a day because there's so much it's a land rush and there's all this crazy shit and

everyone's coming up with new ways to use this. Now it's like, no, the the tech is pretty established, like what you can do with it, what people want to do with it, So just install the Twitter app and you're good, Like it doesn't matter. I could buy a Windows phone at this point. Well, it's like getting your map app, yeah, my map app ap yeah, and your social networks and then you're done. Yeah, so that's why I have an upgrade. I should upgrade for the

LTE stuff. That sounds pretty cool, but uh, I haven't really felt the need to drop, you know, whatever it is. Two hundred three hundred bucks. Yeah, well at this point, I mean it probably would be less than that because you for the new one. Well, if you want a new new one, I guess. Yeah, but because my screen isn't my screen isn't cracked. Yeah, I don't know my battery lass about twenty minutes. I would love to see a big new generational shift in phone

technology or just not just some something man like instead of phone. Yes, a phone that I can roll up? No, it like it can't be form factor. I can't be anything like that as to be like, here's a paradigm shift. Okay, well, what do you want to do? You don't even know what you want. I don't know what I want to do. I want someone to show up and go like, here's a fucking new thing that's going to blow your fucking mind. It's called the Yeah,

no, that's not Google ass. I don't know how reasonable is it to ease? I mean, so what you're talking about is like the classic example is the removal of all buttons from phones, right, like the move to nothing but a touch screen, right, I'm sure, I guess, but that in like in that facilitated people doing new things with this device. Well, you know, how how reasonable is it to expect something like that every safe? Totally unreasonable? Yeah, Like I don't like, I don't.

I just don't think anybody's figured it out yet obviously, but I'm but I like by that same token. And that's why it feels like we're in this weird lully tech wise where it's just like CS just seems like like why would you go to that? Well, what about like Google Glass? Like what

if they integrate your phone into like Google Glass? Wear glass feels like yeah, like wearables, Yeah, seem potentially very interesting, but it's potentially interesting since I was watching Beyond two thousand and the nineties, right, Yeah, but then they could do apps that's just like, hey, this is facial recognition, and this will you're looking at somebody will tell you who it is, look up their Facebook profile and be like, hey, this is whatever

whatever scan this, dude. Sounds like a fucking nightmare. Yeah, like people wearing I think I've said it's war wear, like QR codes on your shirt and then it just scans those and like people are walking billboards and pops up and just like a picture of my balls or something, and like hah, you scan like R. I want to wear I want to be paid to wear a QR code. And for every person who looks at me while learning wearing the device, an AD shows up over my face and then I

get paid and it's like a little counter. So it's on me to be seen and I have to get out there and be seen to make money. And that's why I took all these hostages. Get a big cardboard arrow spinner around behind you, over your head, whatever the highest tech station forget to forget. They've removed humans from the arrow holding loop. Have you seen any of the h in Pedaluma. I've seen a couple of them. In Pedaluma.

There is literally a mannequin, just a basic standard mannequin. It is a lady mannequin that they have put a blonde wig on and dressed up in some clothes that look like not like appropriate for how cold it is right now, and then they have put an arrow in front of it, and the arrow is hooked up to a system of motors and pulleys that makes the arrow kind of move around, shimmy around a little bit like is she holding it?

They took the no, No, it is a mannequin. Not at all attached to this arrow that is moving, and then it says, like, fuck, they're selling printer parts or something. That's I saw another one that has it is it is an arrow with a giant and part of the cardboard cutout at the arrow is this woman's smiling face and she's huge, she's not even person's sized at this point, but it's just like from her like

chest up above this arrow and the whole thing is moving. What is exactly like that's They had to find cheap advertising, so they said, well, at some point, rather than going out and buying real advertising space and doing a real advertising type purchase, we're going to pay a person to stand here. And it's cheaper for us to pay this person minimum wage or whatever, better than just sticking a sign in the ground. Exactly, it's gonna catch

people eyes, people's eyes. And then at some point someone said, wait a minute, we don't need a person, but what kind of boring ass neighborhood you living in? And that thing isn't completely defaced? Yeah, every time I see it, I think about going out and cutting the man your face on it? Yeah, Like, how is that not immediate? Like the first day I don't know. It's been cold kids. In these video games, you're not getting out there causing trouble. It's true. Yeah,

they're definitely not like they used to. But it is. It's a weird recursive thing like it's it's like video game paintball or something. Right, it's like a simulation of a simulation. Yeah, whatever. It's like sales on an aircraft carrier. Dumb. Yeah, well, it's a good for emergencies. Emp knocks out everything. You gotta get sales, Yeah, hoyst sales. I played a lot of Assassin's Creed. We'll see then. Yeah,

I spend my vacation. Well did you defacing myself? What did you deface yourself with over the past couple of weeks, respecting your temple, Yeah, Assassin's Creed Okay, I spent many hours in that game. You beat it? I did, at the cost of like sixty or seventy hours whatever was. Every time I would sit down I had video game time, I'd put up Assassin's Scream and go hunt around for chests or find some animus. Fragments

are out there, truth is out there. That game is jam packed full of like Moore, could you get out of the animus and find all the stuff, the QR codes and stuff there. Yeah, I did hacked a bunch of computers. I didn't like that hacking game that much. But there's a lot of really interesting dumb stuff in that game too, uncover and really long stuff like long audio logs where you're sitting there listening for five six minutes

just with a playhead moving across the screen. People, I assume the animus fragments have story attached. Well, I don't know about that. No, I don't think so. Those are pure collectibles. I think so, but you know, a lot of it since it's I'm trying to think if I can talk about this without spoiling too much, but you know, it's up Sergo would be soft at that point or whatever. And yeah, they're putting

out Assassin's Creed games. Uh wait a minute, is Ubi Soft and Entity as such in the world of Assassins Street four or I thought, yeah, I thought ob Stergo Entertainment was supposed to be the standard they with, so they are. Yeah. They put out Liberation, the hottest hot game. It was one of their Animus products. Okay, Ubisoft put that out in the world of assassin's creed. Okay, I thought ob Stargo was like I said, it was, would be soft there. So you know they had

the Stargo logo after the UI. I can tell. I can tell we took a break because I forgot if it was Ubi softer, you'd be soft again, you'll be or not you bub you'll be for sure? Is it you be? I think it's you. I don't care. I can say, get that little bit that uh Eve gimme and the other guy, the Rayman guy, so whche Michelle And yeah, they did that little sketch in

like a like three twenty eleven or something. Yeah, so now I remember it's always you'd be there be would be or not would be you'd be soft. And so you got a lot of fun stuff that's like, uh, the templars you killed in other games, they have like portraits you can unlock that are like family Man, like this guy was a real leader and cut down in the prime of his life, and you know he was you know, red Rigo Borgia was like he was gonna set the world right and cut

down by you know, assassins, and which is pretty fun. And they all have names family man, true Hero. That stuff is fun. You find audio locks from like Subject zero and like Subject one and all these people and they're just you find his cool flyer that has the animus from like the seventies, eighties, nineties and like different advertisements for it, and like the eighties one is all this like weird data bank of computers and the shitty looking

chair. Uh, this is something really fun, goofy stuff in there. That is like from the Absturgo perspective what they've been trying to do. Uh, and and set the world right. So from here, like how do you how do you want it to play out? Do you want they open up a lot of doors in this one? I mean there's a potential there for like quite literally, what if that is the right? It's weird,

It's super weird. What if from here on out the Templars really are like not just you know them reframing it this way and you can like as a kind of a wink and nod, But I was like, oh wait, no, the Templar is actually worth the good guys all along. I mean they don't necessarily paint them as as as great people, but they are. They're pushing their agenda, sure, and there's some other funny stuff. Since

it's all marketing material. They have these trailers for like et Ceo and alta Year, which are like they're like fake focus groups trailers and they go through like you know, et Ceo is a bit of a you know, a ladies man, and this isn't going to play well with some of our crowd, and we should avoid using this property for future endeavors. Like alta Year was a little brooding and like, uh, you know, lecherous and like

he's not the one you know really well. I think it was more at Connor's got his own problems and like, let's not develop a game based on that character. Probably had to refrain from talking too much shit about Connor. Those wounds are probably still pretty fresh. Yeah, but it's in there, like all those guys, you know, because they didn't make games of those in that universe at all, so they're all like, let's avoid all these

bloodlines. I'm like, but they make this great trailer you find kind of late in the game, uh, for the game you're making for the pirates one that think it's called like I figure what it's called, like Pirates of the Nightmare or something something dumb and it's just the lady I think presents it to you. Be like, you should see the new trailer we put together with your footage, and it's all like in a world of pirates, are

you gonna be the ones to save the day? And just painting all the stuff you've been playing and the cut scenes you've seen into this, like Michael Bay is crazy, explosion boats just blowing out of the water. What do you think I think it'll sell? That's it's pretty funny. I really enjoyed it. Yeah, the gameplay stuff, uh, once I collected everything and started steamrolling into the story stuff. Like Patrick is right, they still do just jam in the same mission types and that can get a bit boring.

But I really enjoyed the rapper they put on. I think they took it in a great direction post Assassin's Creed three with you know the Desmond stuff. It's really weird Desmond stuff in there, super weird. In this game, you find a movie and again this isn't really spoilers, be find she might

not find it, but you find a movie. There's a lot of them, uh, basically autopsying Desmond and taking his organs out and stuff like at the scene where he's dead because they're storing it and they're gonna, you know,

use the sample. It's like really weird. Uh. And then and they don't go into anything which I thought they were going to have, like Desmond's in the Machine Man and he's like still alive, but because it's like kind has some of the Desmond with the other subject or whatever sixteen or something, but it's it's it's in interesting. I don't know, I found that

whole thing interesting. But they do, like you said, they do open up the door in that game for like there's one other document that just lists everybody in between, like et CEO and like Connor that's like French Revolution, like we here are other avenues we can explore this product like a bunch of other stuff that just goes down and you're like, sure, okay, why

not, let's just keep going? Yeah, I know. Fun. I don't know if they can manage it an on an annual schedule, but I would love to see them jump from time period the time period every year at this point, you know. Yeah, I like, like if they do another year of Caribbean Pirates with the same style of sailing and boat up parades and stuff, like that, like that's going to be a real shame.

Yeah, there was one in that document again that just goes through everything where like I said, like French Revolution, there's like a Wild West one like that would be fun. I don't need to climb buildings that much anymore. They've gotten so far away from the kind of like tumb raider ish uh you know, yeah, climb to the top of this Prince of Persia. Like Marylin was all like, oh, this is kind of like Prince of Persia, like that's gone at this point. But if whatever, I'll be a

gun slinger and don't even have to climb a building. It's fine, give me a horse. Again. I don't know about these Old West stuff is you know, it's probably wouldn't work. It could be its redemption. Yeah, open world, but that's mostly what I played. But I also do you know with with in four, you know, with all the like hunting and skinning and stuff, like maybe some Old West skinning, maybe they can find a way to make that fun. Yeah that's impossible. That's an impossible

dream. Well, all I gotta do is just you know, position your horse right up for the animal and then you won't see that animation. It's the hunting and as dumb, but it's it's kind of fun, don't It's so fast you don't even need to do it right. Yeah. You can also buy all the materials at a store. So I never got the white whales. They never showed up for me because I guess that's one of the network things, like oh, it's one of the yeah, yeah friends,

whatever's, but you just buy it. I had tons of money by the end, and I was a badass in my boat. I had like ninety thousand cannons on the side just roll up on the side of a ship and just unload in it and just it just like a nucle bomb just went off, which is pretty fun. I can't find anywhere in that game to see how like how many crew members you have or who your crew members are,

Like there's like a bar. There are so many menus and sub menus and different types of commodities in that game that like there's just like a little bar, Like Okay, it just has like the filled up with full crew or not full crew. Okay, maybe maybe I placed too much importance on it, but I barely dabbed on the game, to be fair. I still haven't played that much of it, but I just did my first like kind

of random boat takeover yesterday. You are the crew in that point, okay, and when I you know, I jumped over there and like in the middle of the battle. Every time when of your crew dies, it will be like minus one crew, And I was like, oh, I don't want to lose crew members. Fuck that, Like is that not? That's nothing to work? Come up in the water. They're like, yeah, I know. I very quickly found a guy drowning and saved him and he became You find that all the time. So are they not named? Are

they not? You have they completely lost the mechanic then from the last like no, you have three of the kind of assassins, says Fleet, Which is which is that? And that's the online stuff that if you have more than a hundred friends on a PlayStation platform, you don't get to see it all. That sucks. You don't get to see it at all. It doesn't like if there's a bug with you play where because like the online stuff is kind of optional, like you could speed up your friends, uh convoys.

Is that the same framework though of like instead of assassins that you train up you have other boats you so you get to a point I don't think you're there yet where you can repair the jackdaw. When you take over a ship, you can. That's all I can do right now. So you'll get a point where you can add to Kenway's fleet and you steal that ship and then you could send it out and then you send them on missions.

Yeah, just like okay, you just get golden stuff. So I guess, like when I launched that game, it's just it refuses to connect to you play at all. Oh wow. So at the top of the game, ye oh boy, you're playing on the PS four. Yeah, apparently PS three has the same issue. I've never had that problem. How many friends? Yeah, like four, that's fine. So it's it's literally if you're over one hundred, it breaks. So I could remove friends until I get out of the list. I don't know. I'm at the cap now.

Oh you are? Yeah, nice, So just wipe and start over. Yeah, play that prestige my friends list and there is no single button way to clear your friends list. No, I mean adding adding those two thousand friends was a hassle. Removing them will probably even more of one. But too many friends so many friends. It's a good number, but not at the expensive like system performance stuff, and they're there are a lot of games that just don't seem to handle it particularly well, like uh like sass

screen. Call of Duty has a thing in the corner that tells you how many of your friends are online at a given time. That number is almost always zero for me, which I guess it is possible. Actually maybe that no one's playing Call of Duty, but I don't know. That seems unlikely. Yeah, yeah, that that the Yes, they need to make some changes to the way the PlayStation that we're handles friends who new consoles coming Yeah okay, well yeah may when the new console comes out, like and raise

the friend limit. That'll probably solve the problem out of the Yeah, what do you think we'll see firmware updates already has already it's already been I mean, like like big ones. Yeah, we're talking about a total overhaul of the interface. Yeah, I mean on the Xbox side that five years. On the Xbox side, that won't happen until they abandoned that whole company wide

initiative to have the same interface on everything. Because but I think even like the Xbox stuff that needs needs tweaks, it needs rebils of certain features that wouldn't be necessarily a whole new interface, but like the party system like that totally totally you know he but he said an n XC thing. He's talking about a whole new interface. I mean, drastic change is not just like we're adding Netflix or well that stuff. That stuff will happen. The system

stability means that stuff will happen. That'll that'll happen incrementally. Like they are both so in need of fixing. Yeah, they the fixes and the promised additions have got to get by first, right, Yeah, of course. Yeah. I don't think. I don't think they're one of them to hold that stuff back for like a giant like here's the Fall update or whatever. Yeah. I hope they have to get this stuff out as soon as it's ready. Yeah, one would hope. Is that is that? So?

That is that how you spent your break? I played Legends Raymond Legends. Okay, that's fun on what on the PC? I didn't really buy anything on that team sale, like I played on the WEU. I was gonna I was gonna play it on the PC. I was like, oh, I have a we U copy year. I'm gonna play it on that. Yeah. Uh, I'm gonna pick up anything on this team sale not another thing. Yeah, well did you do I mean, did you get anything else done over last week? I spent a lot of time with a kid,

the child. Yeah yeah, m hm, oh wow, Yeah I got one over for Christmas. Oh cool, cool, Yeah, that's cool. I heard they hadn't really shipped a lot. No guy was an early access Oh okay, okay, getting the bugs out because I heard like they're just you can't find them in stores anywhere. So it's sold like a million in the first play four hours. Well, you know you'd buy him. And then it's like, you know, hopefully there's no hardware failures. Hopefully

it doesn't shit the bed. Uh, but it does. The secret is they all do uh eventually one hundred percent failure rate. I shouldn't say that wet the bed, jeez, and I'm gonna go home and shit in my bed. It spent a lot of time, yeah, with Max, And that was a lot of fun, just kind of enjoyed life. What is that like, It's like it's pretty different more. Uh, it's fun. It was good. Uh. Like the vacation seemed long. You know, it's never long enough, but it seemed like I was. I was really

enjoying it. And it was really nice too, and I'm sure my wife appreciated it too. Just to like not feel like I have to cram everything in and then shut out the family life to stuff done, and you don't feel like, oh, I had so little time when I get home, I need to get this all done, to be like, oh, dude, tomorrow, all right, let's do this today, not be super stressed out. So that was really nice. H made meatball hero. My wife made me bole Hero is delicious? Are you the meatball hero? I have

make a meatball hero out of you? Kind of meatballs? That's a personal question, So I don't know, take that off the air, all right, talk about my meatballs off the everything? What what? What different kinds of meatballs up? Like turkey meatball? You just go to stop Bay and go give me meatballs? No bread? Mean, like what kind of meat basically beef? Like I like, well that's yeah, you know, that's the fucking meat balls right in the name. What do you want? I

mean, I had like a fish ball? I had no you would call those fish meat balls there. They're absolutely pork meatballs out there. Would you would you call that a pork meat ball? Though? I might, Yeah, I don't know if you. If I if you said, hey, didn't give me a meat ball, I would not immediately and you showed up with turkey, Yeah, I'd be like, fuck, I'm kind of hippie.

Do you think Guyanne that merit's being called out if it's turkey, because then you can expect it to be a little dryer, and then you want to know that ahead of time. You would seriously consider somebody giving you a pork meat ball as a correct response to saying I want to meat ball? Yeah, what I don't. I don't know what the fuck? What? What is it cooked in? I don't know, like a marinara sauce? That is another question. Wait, you can even get like chopped pork like

that, I mean ground pork. I do I do half pork half turkey. That's exactly what I was getting at, Like I had some cocktail like some I've got my own things going on, Venny, So don't take that. It's like standing up. Yeah, I was exposed. I was exposed to some more derve meat balls over the holiday that had pork, beef and chicken in them. I got like Jimmy Dean lean sausage. Just think how wasteful squeeze that three animals had to die for that one meat ball, yeah,

stuffed inside it. Yeah see there you go. Okay, all right, it's a ball. That was It was a it was a beef meatball. Okay, motherfucker damn. It was a meat ball. All right. I don't think I've ever heard of like everything that is. I don't know. Man's some San Francisco ship that's a spicy meat ball and it's beef. Guess what beef? Do you know how many people are gonna write in about the contents of their meatballs? Zero because I just told him not to do

it. They're gonna save meatball is beef. Everything else is. If I'm making a meat ball like to serve other people, and like this is I'm making a big dish and it's gonna taste delicious, that's what I put beef. But if I'm making like a meat ball to sustain myself over a week with my spaghetti and my fridge, like one giant meatball, that you're just that's what I do I's got a basket that sits on the edge of the bed that the meatball just stays in, and it's just any moment you go,

oh, I'm gonna do any fridge just for the meat ball. Grab a handful and then a handful of pasta and just put it in your mouth and eat it. Wow. If you type meat into Google, meat loaf is more commonly searched than meat ball. Would you think a pork mute loaf is okay? Because meat balls are unto themselves and self explanatory. No one is looking up beat balls because I know, like I've had turkey meat loaf before. Also, there isn't a singer named meat perfectly fun fair enough,

I suppose that's true until right now. Well, I feel like a meat loaf can just be a giant meat ball in the wrong shape. No, because it's meat meat loaf its own fucking dumb thing. Yeah, yeah, it's kind of gross. Meat loaf's good. I've had like one or two really good meat leafts, but I'm not a fan. I would not tell. I mean to be fair. Meat loaf originally was conceived to kind of get more mileage out of the food you had like I catch all back in

the lean leanard in times. You know, do you remember that sandwich place and sauceleto that's old meat loaf as well. So much place. Yeah, I had like behind the counter they had beat loaf. I added it up one time and estimated that with one meat loaf, if they sold they sold them per slice and for how much they sold them. But if they if they sold all that meat loaf, they made like two hundred dollars. It's an expensive meat loaf. Yeah, it's an expensive sandwich shop, but really

it really was an expensive sandwich shop. Yeah. Yeah, everything there we love to stupid caught fresh. Yeah. So the North based search arg even the dive bar was the drinks. I remember the drinks, but there being kind of expensive. I just ended up on the Food Network landing page for meatball recipes. Yeah, there are quite a few. The feature pork. That's because that's like a fancy that's you're in fancy tan. Yeah, and they probably you know, but at the same time you you would say,

let's make these pork meatballs. Yes, you'd say, I mean, oh, these are delicious. Well I tried A new thing is a pork meat ball? Actually yeah, like what that's crazy. It's crazy kind of a foodie. Which point then I slit your throat and walk on door. No, I don't want to talk about this. Like if you went into like an Italian restauran in order and meatball sub would you have to clear make sure that's beef in that meatball? Because you would, because you can refuse to

eat anything else. No, because you'd expect it to be beef, right, you wouldn't have to clarify. I don't know, Like at this point, I want to look up the subway meatballs and see if they're beef or not. You definitely don't want to do that. Just fucking ground up sawdust in newspapers, you know. Uh yeah, I middle of Zigna too. All the quiz noos in my town closed, so it was food is traffganza for everyone. They really you're better off? Are they pulling out because it

closed around here? I don't know, I don't know what it used to be. Subway started toasting, and then it was it was like, all, we're fun. What if that? Literally? Is it? If? Subway said like, Subway is the world of warcraft? A fucking sandwich shops the new Innovator comes out with all these new features, and then the next patch, Subway goes, oh we can toast that ship, and nowt too like fuck, yeah, what we lost our thing? Well, oh well

ship close it down. I keep saying one of these weeks we should get one of those forty man party raids. Yeah. I really shouldn't really tackle that thing World Warcraft. Yeah, yeah, I thought, I mean, like forty sandwiches. No, it's one sandwich that takes like the Internet burger fucking player class bra But yeah, you've got to be in the right place at the right time. You're supposed to be there. I'm gonna be the one that east all the SALAMMI yeah, you're supposed to be on SALAMMI duty

wait to take a nap. I'm gonna tank this fucking sandwich on asshole. On the third phase, you're gonna have to deal with those olive ads. They're gonna keep popping out. I could do. I'm like, I'm like, you know, I could do a lot of damage really fast, but I'll I'll go down if I get hit, if I hit like a green pepper or something like, I'm just out. I'm not playing healer on us. Make push me in the stomach. I need the vomit. I need to keep going. Just punch me in the stomach. All right, I'm

gonna push the four key. I think to do that. Boy, I could sell it. I think I could. Yeah, it's so over leveled. It's been all day in Subway just grinding. Why they call him grinders? There you go, Well, Drew, what did you do with your break? We haven't heard from you. That's right. Yeah, you guys did that podcast with the Google. We did. We went to Google and did that part the Google's doing. All right. Google had a pretty good

break. Gave all of our information to the government, which I thought was a little weird. But oh man, you got scrugle. Oh fuck. But they gave was free lunch, so it's cool. They did our launder like they took care of Max for like two hours. Yeah, it was really cool. Yeah, campus is really fantastic. Razor Uh. I spent a lot of it up in Lake Tahoe. Uh played some disc golf. It was it was the weather like up there, it's snow warm. It was. There was snow on the ground, not so it was just enough

to like lose a disc if your disc way snow on the ground. Plabe. That's right, there's snow on the ground. Played disc golf? Does it have the chain? Is that disc golf? It's like the goal post of the chains around it. Yeah. So the goal is like a bowl on a pole. Yeah, and the chain and it's something right like if you well, the chain knocks it down into the bowl. Oh, it's not different points like I hit the play that. Uh yeah, that's rules.

We played the first day and and then I went to the gym and worked out up there, and then I tried to play the next day in my shoulder really hurt. So I played left handed. Oh wow, and I got like plus ten pop up any disks. Yeah, we're not able to play goofy. So, I mean I was impressed with my own left handed performance, but it was nowhere near. You have to work on it, yeah, be you as I have a dextrous he can throw and catch

whatever, anything anything. People had recommended after I mentioned I played the Resistance the board game Yea over Thanksgiving, they recommended that I get the expansion or slash sequel called Resistance Avalon. Uh, and it is way cool. So we played a lot of that We have some friends up there too, so we got a good like nine ten people game going. Uh see what else did I play at? A bunch of my old systems are up there, so we played like Mario Carton and also one of the best games golf games

ever, Mario Golf Toads Steal Tour for the Nintendo GameCube. That is a solid game. Someone of the name cool Ones. Okay, we're still doing it then, Uh, that's kind of it for Yeah, we do. It's not it's not would, it's not gas. It was like spar the air all break. Yeah, there were a ton of No, it's been super dry. Yeah around here. You can like that fireplace. No you get well, I mean you can, They just recommend you don't. It's

not like that fireplace. It was pouring rain in the place where I went for the holiday, so we made plenty of fires and didn't worry about it. I heard a story about Tahoe about Oh, I heard a story about they're not keeping it blue or whatever green? What color style? Blue? Blue? There's a construction and bad stuff and taho is basically gonna be assessible in about three months. Well, from the weird thing, I always thought was that they don't recycle up there. Really, Yeah, you just throw

all your stuff into one throwing the lake lake. They might just separate it after the fact. That's that's there are definitely locations that do that kind of after the fact recycling, which sounds great yea in terms of, like, you know, no one has to think about it. Everything just gets thrown

away and then it all gets recycled properly ideally hopefully. I may have heard it wrong, but there was somebody was saying that they were gonna there were so many restrictions if you live up there or you know, have a business up there. I'm like, what you can do for the environment that nobody

follows them? Said they were gonna roll them back a bit to make fewer in the hopes that people would then follow them the few that were left, and some people were like, you're what, like, no, then people then will be cleaner, because the people will then because it's so daunting now. But if we just will get rid of a bunch, then people we could focus on these big ones. I don't know. I went to Tahoe once. I liked it. I guess yeah. There was no snow though,

so no skin. Yeah, but you know, hung out, binged, watch TV shows. Yeah, it was good, and then came back to the city for New Year's spent thout some friends and then uh, you know it's kind of vegget out nice caught up on some pork veg pork pork vegim Yeah. Yeah. Turkey mean bolls turkey meet balls are probably totally fine. I probably haven't had them before. I just can't. You just gotta

make sure you say it's a turkey mean bo I like turkey burgers. I just I just want to know, Like if I were exactly like totally yes, go somewhere and say let's have hamburgers and then give you turkey burgers, you'd be pissed you to be But he said, hey man, I got turkey burgers. I might just say, like, fuck it, man, let's have turkey burgers. They're good too. I don't know if I go as far as say you could be pissed about it getting free burger of any

kind, I don't know. I get my hopes up as someone who can afford a hamburger. What if you had to go there for free hamburgers and then they're like, hey man, here's your free hamburger. You came to this thing. You came to this time share event and at the end we said we're gonna give you hamburgers. Yeah. Different, here's a turkey burgers. Fucking I don't want it. You don't like it? Eat now? Yeah, I like veggie dogs, but I would call it a veggie dog.

Yeah, I wouldn't call it, wouldn't or if you a hot dog and then say it was beef pork. Yeah, bread, Yes, I ate some meatballs. Yeah, out of a crock pot. That was probably good. They were like it was like a cocktail sort of small small meatball you need to put a toothpick in it to eat. Yeah. It was in like sweet sort of a ball, you know, sauce sure of some type I kind of it's like a sweet and sour you kind of was my parents house. It was one of a couple of they're putting on like an

industry family functions. Have a cocktail like mashed potatoes and a cup to even free meal or derve. Tell you about the games, like you know, there was a crock pot of meatballs. There was a big thing of checks mix playing and one of one of the two gatherings. Yes, they were totally deviled eggs prior to the meal. I love devil leggs. I tell you I can eat like eighty They're gross. That's what's excessive. I don't like what you don't d Yeah, I feel like you wouldn't like the things

that are in it. Deviled eggs are pretty I don't. I don't like softballed or hard boiled eggs. Usually I love deviled eggs. Yeah, there are a couple of cheese plates. It says devil right in it. I don't. I'm allergic to eggs, not actually like peanut allergy alert. Yeah, not like ANAPLA or whatever. I just can't really digest them very well. So for the meatballs, I have to use weird stuff like and stuff

bind it. No, so I have to use yep uh, flax seed meal kind of interesting pour water in that three to one, and it's like creates this kind of jelly consistency. Either that or apple sauce and baking powder. Okay, huh, that actually sounds like it'd probably all right. Yeah, what's that due to the flavor you get a little bit of apple kind of back, Yeah, you kind of. I don't do the apple for the meatballs, but I do it for like a sweet stuff if I'm baking.

Maybe, yeah, apple sauce and instead of sugar somethings. Yet such too. Oh man, I love apple sauce period, coming out with it, screaming exactly. I don't care who knows it. Apple sauce is great. I like apple juice. Yes, absolutely underrepresented. If I find myself in a Las Vegas buffet, yeah it's good. Yes, anywhere, get apple juice anywhere, bever. Just come out of to Spencers. It's a good place to get out. Ever have Martin Alley's. Oh yeah that sounds

good. Yeah it is. Yeah. Yeah. The bottles are too small, too small, Yeah, a little little little apple shaped things. Oh no, no, these are like the big like the champagne bottles. Oh those are like there's just like sparkling or whatever. Yeah, I'm not a probably, Yeah, some into the bubbling stuff, the bubbles getting the way of the apple of the apple. Yeah, then you spend time burping, which is time you could be drinking apples more apple juice. Yeah, think

about a Vegas buffets. They will keep bringing you apple juice, or you could just go get it. Whenever you want it. Yeah, well yes, now, I mean that's you know, not every buffet had drink stations. Sure, then back in the dark days, back in the dark days of going to Vegas. Oh god, that's probably some bad apple juice. Last time I was in Vegas, I went to a buffet by myself. All right, Yeah, that sounds all right. It was all right.

It just felt kind of crazy because like it's a bunch of you know, I forget what I was there for, some event, some game thing. It's the EA thing. But like everything's a buffet in Vegas. It's like this, might as well go to a restaurant and call it a buffet. Like but no, but I went to like the buffet where it's like just go stand up and there's a billion like a bunch of horrible food. Like

some good food here that you can eat in horrible quantities. Sure is here they have an ice cream machine, of course, Okay, jus a super bowl instead of the ice cream boll Yeah, that's I'm not I've done this before. That's not. Ain't no amateur. I'm kind of a foodie. Okay. They brought me a lot of apple juice. Nice, that's the point of my story, keeping coming, keeping coming of the apple juice on the ice cream. You know that, I'm wonder if that would be terrible

that, you know, liquid on on ice cream. You don't see an apple ice cream might be too much. You don't you'll see like an apple pie all a mode, okay, but like an apple ice cream. How do you feel about apple butter? Because I had some of that over the world. I don't know. It's all right, put it on like cornbread or something. No, buttermilk biscuit. Put a bunch of butter on there.

Then put the apple cider on Sunday, which basically was like apple cider, but all the spices you would put into a pumpkin pie just dumped into that cider, so it was still apple based. It was just h with pumpkinny spices. Weird, so it was there was no actual pumpkin, there was any get in there. That's really crazy. It was. It was bizarre but tasty. It sounds like an apple spiced cider or something. Yeah, there's a big old pumpkin on the label, so okay, well it's

probably it contains two percent pumpkin juice right East Coast. Yeah, so I have realized, and my reclusive old age, that I measure the quality of my vacations by how few times I have to leave the house. Yeah, now you're talking. Uh the week one at my parents on the East Coast, I went out twice nice both times for like, you know, requisite family. Okay, family, I was gonna say. I thought it was you know, it's like very quickly to get food and then go home.

Well, we kind of would roll age, you know, a trip to the Chick fil a or whatever into into the front or back end of those. There's nothing quite as like satisfying and shameful as going to a dinner or something like that and then going to a fact we didn't do that. We did. Fact we do all days, right my family, So nobody was capable of eating after the family gatherings or for the rest of the day. Actually, definitely some events I've gone to where it's just like are you are

you hungry? Like family ones, no, oh okay, Like a friends thing where you're just like, okay, you know you didn't really have a chance to eat too much or something like that. You're just like, okay, you know you want to go to like breaking or something. Yeah, totally. Yeah, at least where I'm from. Like, every I take her that up front, you eat before you go. Yeah, every I

have done that. I have definitely. Yeah, you're around people and you don't want them to see you eat the way you eat, so you're like, well, I'm gonna have to eat first. I got a qualms about that. Well, the family is different, Yeah, I guess so. I mean we had Christmas stuff at my aunts and then I promptly found a recliner and fell asleep in their house. It's great, I found a side room. Wait, did that mean you are the like family member who was

on the recliner? I was like, you're looking for both. They have a lot of recliners. What do you What do you mean like you're the one that was off somewhere. That's definitely not the only one. Okay, there were multiple people were there have a lot of recliners. Well this was in like a little sitting room off to the side. Yeah, just a bunch of people sitting there. Like there were like ten people were playing or something, just like a bunch of beds. There was just there were like

ten people playing like scattergories or something like that. And then everybody who was not into that, which I was one, No, I haven't found a place to slump falsely weird picture of like a shoemaker family event where everybody's not that's like a bunch of recliners, just in a very orderly rose all right, Time to string up the hammocks, triple decker hammocks, just a little ladders up to him. You know, everybody's just that's the Shoemaker set.

The family is just kind of just recliners, you know. Yeah, you stop eating, set the napkin down, pull the rip cord of the recliner, all right. Most most most people do not eat as foolishly as I do with those things. So most people were fine, kick the back of the recliner up, he'll eat for a while. Longer ud be great steam

trays at every place setting. My dad used to be the one who who'd find the couch of the recliner and just like you know, you'd disappear, and then like we'd go walking around like twenty minutes later and you'd have found the place where it was quiet. Sure took a nap. I just say I never really felt like I was old enough to do that. Or get away with that. Yeah, I kind of do. Yeah. Now we're getting to the point where it's it's it's socially acceptable to doze O the little

kids running around Yeah, okaya. At that one, the youngest was like thirteen, so it's not such a thing anyway. Yeah, like just stay in the house, nice, fantastic nice, had a lot of handhelds. Just get a good funk going. No, no, I mean go bathe every day we're clean flow wasting time. Uh. And I built a lot of fires, sat there with three d s and Vita and iPad jeez dabbling. Would you play Zelda tear Away Room The Room too? Yes? What's that? Has the Room too? I like it. We talked about it

some last week the podcast, Like I have you finished it? Yeah? You did finish it? Yeah? Uh? Do you know many chapters? It is? The calling like four or five? Okay, I must be close to the I think I'm on chapter four. Uh, going back and discovered I had not played that little ad on yas pretty I mean it's not impossible, but it's pretty challenging. Like yeah, uh, and anyway, I played in just like wet my whistle right up? Yeah, I don't Yeah, I don't know that. Maybe I don't know if this is a

little nitpicky, but I don't know that. I love that there is like a like three stations. Well there's that, which I feel like kind of makes some lose focus on the puzzles a little bit, although sometimes they find ways to make the different stations kind of interact with in some kind of neat ways. I think the thing I'm finding a little more off putting is there's like this just this really jarring jump from one kind of cultural esthetic to another,

from room to room. I mean it's like I was like, oh, I'm in the I'm in the shipwreck room, and now I'm in the Egyptian room, and now I'm in the like Baroque room, yeah, or Victorian or whatever that's decorated my house. You are almost done. I think I'm gonna hang out in the bounce House room. Yeah, yeah, I think I'm I'm in the one that looks like a you know, the kind of Victorian era, uh like man mansion or something. I think I barely

got into it and turn it off. But the point is, like I don't know, the game had like a really nice cohesive kind of atmosphere to it. You know, you felt like you really were delving layer by layer into this crazy, this magical Yeah, that's what I mean. It's like this one, you're just sort of there's a little mysticism, jumping from place to place and it's sort of I don't know, I still really like it.

It's it's it's fun, it's still cool. So that part didn't bother me, And the and the multiple sections in the room didn't bother me so much. It was more of the less of the What I really liked about the first one was that kind of this mechanically, I like to imagine mechanically a lot of this stuff could be possible, Gears turning inside these boxes. Totally. This one, I felt like I had a little more of like,

wow, that's a little more fantastical magic it is happening. Yeah, Like they don't even try to justify in any kind of tangible player what's happened some of that stuffs like, uh, you know, the laser hits the crystal and then the crystal does magic. Yeah. It was a little bit of that in the Room one, but for the most out, and it was towards the end of that game. Yeah, they really go balls out in this one, Like stuff is just happening. So really enjoying it,

though, I'm looking forward to finishing it. It's a lot more of that ips. Yeah, yeah, sure dark, Sure that game is still very close. Those games are still awesome. Yeah, Like, I'm really glad those exist did beat Zelda. I'm really close to the end of that. Just more I play of that more glad I am that. I put it way up on my top ten list. It's so fucking good. Yes, I know I didn't finish it, but you know what, I liked what I had played of that game more than most of the games I had finished

last year. If it had gotten horrible forward, I don't you know. I was prepared for that. I was perfectly willing to take that risk. Acceptable. Yeah the games, Yeah, did you did you get all the mime eyes? No? I got like forty. Oh really, I've already got like seventy something, how many are I think? I started upgrading stuff, and then I realized that the upgraded stuff didn't seem like I was doing.

It's not that much better and you don't really need yeah, like, you know, being able to throw a bunch of boomerangs at once and just spam them is kind of cool. But I don't think I ever used the boomerang. I just I just like finding the things, like I find it to be a fun collectible with you know, they make the little sound that you can get throw in on and don't like how it gives you the I found this every time you find them, am I This just takes like what

three seconds? Yeah, but it should just do it the first time, and they should just pick him up. I guess like he does the hole hold it up and then yeah, yeah, that's because you know they did it with like finding rupees and chests before. You know, still they do that with keys and dungeons. Yeah, that stuff, Like it's so different. I think this is I don't know, I felt like it was silly. I didn't bother It doesn't bother me. I kind of want to get

all of them for whatever. Help save them, manet. I've got two dungeons left. I don't know. I just you know, I'm almost putting off finishing it because I don't want it to be over. It was so good the wind really when I of my sales, when I when I beat up as far as finding the rest of the stuff. No, no, well, yeah, a little bit of that, but more of like I was bummed after it ended. Oh it was over. Yeah, yeah, totally has having a really good like just having that to go back to whenever

I feel like it has been. Yeah, like I like it so much. I have violated my rule of not playing the hand held stuff in my house, oh you know, like trying to save it for when I'm out on trips or whatever. It's just like, I have to finish this. It's too good. Played a little more assassins played most of I think I'm almost at the end of that BioShock barreletcy. I've heard that short. I

don't know. I mean, I'm I'm in the part where there's combat, and I know they had said, like, oh, the first half of it there's no combat. So I guess maybe it is short, if that's the case, because it doesn't feel like I've been playing it that long. But I feel like I heard nothing but negativity about that thing part of playing it, and I think it's cool what you would, Well, you're wrong, I mean, I really I really only came to it to see rapture

kind of re envisioned in this new engine, you know. Yeah, and then also you know, there's this kind of rapture before the fall, you know, it's when you know, it's when everything was still gleaming. I'm not gonna say everything is perfect, because obviously things didn't stay for very long. Yeah, it's actually it's set after I almost wish I had gone back.

I can read up on the story of BioShock because I don' remember the exact sequence of offense, but the revolution, there's the whole thing where it's kind of been. Yeah, it's been really cool actually picking up audiologs from characters like Suchong from the first BioShock and remind being reminded of all that stuff. I guess I had never really considered the concept that this would have characters

and stuff like that from original BioShock. Totally. That's that's all it is, Huh, Like, you know, you you're still Booker and Elizabeth is with you although there so that's kind of the weird thing that is really uh taking me by surprise, is that it's kind of defied my expectations twice because going into it, your booker and you're with Elizabeth, Right, They seemed to be playing totally different roles, you know, like you're you're just a

private eye who has an office on like the Promenade and Rapture or whatever. You're just a guy who lives in Rapture. And she comes to you, you know, looking all like fim fatal or whatever. It's super warrish. I was like, Oh, well, so they just kind of took these basic treatments for these characters and slotted them into these totally different roles, which

is not what I expected. Yeah, But then the deeper you end you get, the more it starts seeming like, mostly through little off handed comments that she makes. I don't know what the hell is going on, but like, there's clearly some greater connection to buy a shock infinite than it seemed like initially. But I as makes sense. But I assume none of that stuf's gonna get answered by the end of this first half, right, Yeah,

you have to, and I don't. I don't know when that other half's coming out, so I'm kind of breecing to be disappointed by not getting any answers at the end of this one. The next one is another part of this round. They split. They split this thing into it's it's literally called like Part one or episode one, but just seeing seeing rapture, seeing that kind of familiar setting, but in this you know, you know, it's six years later obviously, just the graphics are way way better. Like

that's it's been really really interesting to see that. Yeah, I kind of still don't care about the gameplay that much now that I'm fighting splicers again, but it's still a cool place to be. Do they have the old plasmids. No, it's just straight up the stuff from Infinite although they call them plasmids like if you go to your wheel, yeah, they they're like,

you know, select a plasmid. Not it's bullshit, no, because one of the audiologs that you pick up very directly explains why there were plasmids in Colombia. It's crazy, it's weird. It's really weird stuff. Like, if you're interested in that in that lore at all, you should go check it out. But at the same time, it's hard. It's hard to really, you know, with the nature of their being infinite multiverses and such like, it's hard to kind of even but it's a lot more specific than

that. Yeah, it's it's real weird technical detail about the plasmids and how how they became vigors and stuff like that, like characters from Infinite are referenced in these audio logs. Weird. Yeah, that's what makes it so weird. But without any any kind of preamble about like, oh, they came through this terror and reality and took our stuff, Like they just drop the names of characters from Infinite Infinite where they were. So I never I never

followed up on that rapture. People were saying, well, yeah, so there was that stuff. Well, I mean, you know, it was basically all but stated that Songbird was based on Big Daddy designs or whatever, you know, like they they've almost came out and said, we peered into this other reality and took this technology. But I guess that clash in the Clouds you could buy some of the unlocks in that gallery, you could buy basically explain the plasma stuff more directly, So I guess this ties into that,

but it's still just it's it's weird. It's weird to pick up audiologs from characters that you remember from the first BioShock and hear them talking about characters from Infinite. Yeah. I think it's crazy. Yeah, So between that stuff and like Elizabeth sort of little intrigue here and there about where she came from, and like Booker can't remember what year he came to Rapture. It's weird stuff like that, right, Like I'm really curious to see where that

stuff goes. Oh jeez, I'm over here watching c S keynotes with no volume up on whatever. This the track aster just has some feed of whatever scenet is doing, and it's this maker bought thing and just literally says, joy the conversation. It's on the screen. I feel like I need to drink or something. The hashtag is MakerBot. Of course, join the conversation. They're gonna start selling. They have an in house team making three D models that you can buy and print out on your maker Bot. That's their

announcement. It's like trucks and stuff for kids to paint. So buy yourself a macrobot. I don't know. That seems crazy. We had We had MSNBC on for a lot up at the Better Place in Tahoe, and those guys love three D printers really, like like they're they're always talking about like bad things you can do with it, as like you can print guns. No, it's like, this is the future. Everyone's gonna want a three D printer. What's havin in this holiday? Everyone's buy three D printers?

Yeah, everybody. Yeah. It was like I don't know anyone that outside of Will Smith, I don't even know anyone that really knows what a three D printer is now that I think about it, like, it's not oh Ce and C Music a plastic factory. Yeah, I'm gonna make you extrude to you. Is that dope enough? Indeed? Well, I spent my time. Yeah, I didn't really do that much like hanging out with friends

here and there. Some people will come by, went out, saw some people, you know, dinner party, this, venture out to bars that, so this and that, this and that. Yeah, I did I build up quite a bit of that stink you were talking about. The fun there was, Yeah, there was like is that enjoyable? Well I'm not, yeah, Or is it more just that the the effort to make yourself clean is not outweighed by the groadiness of sitting around in your own filth? Well it was. It was. It was this thing of just like,

well, you know, I'm not doing anything today. So I also had like all the friends friends like traveling out of town and stuff. So it was like like, oh, I'm gonna go hang out with Oh, that's right, they totally left, So I'm just gonna hang out here and that's cool too. And then once you've committed to that, then it's like, well, I don't necessarily have to like get dressed today. Yeah, you don't have to be presentable. I understand, it's just I don't know.

See there's a part with having a kid though, or that's like a dad. Now I feel like I'm gonna leave the house like this. I don't care. I just finding a change. So I woke up. Who do you have to impress? Nobody's not like you need to attract a mate. Nope, just gonna go out because I'm going with like a playground, right, I'm just gonna sit there and like run around like I'm just gonna put on my shoes and like let's maybe and let's go outside, go out,

go out, and your sweat pants. I left the house. I didn't even have My wife was driving. I was like, oh, you know, I guess stopped by the story and I picked something up. Oh, I don't even have my wallet or my phone. Yeah, that's insane. That's great living right there. Yeah. I was just like, oh, because they're pajamas or you know whatever, they weren't. It doesn't matter what

I'm waiting I bought. I bought a new pair of sweat pants at the beginning, a little bit before the beginning of the break, and those really paid dividends. But the pockets are really shallow on them. So the one time I did decide like, all right, I need to drive somewhere real quick. These cheeseburgers are not just gonna show up. I wait here, So I mean, I'm not getting out of the car, so I don't. I can leave the house in these sweatpants and that'll be okay. The

car is an extension of my house. The wallet fell out, the wallet fell out, yeah, the wall, the shallow pockets on the pants, wallet fell out, the car. I'm like digging around four going yes, yeah, that's good. Yeah. You know. I played some games I don't know. I played got into Risk of Rain for a little bit there, got to the end of it and lost, and then said fuck this,

and they're playing this again. Fuck you. I think I finally get it with that game, Like Patrick and Alex seemed really into it, and I was like, I don't know, Like, no, it's it's it's pretty cool. John Carpenter like that game. Probably it's his. If he had a room for a seventh game on his list, it probably would have been Risk of Right. Good fun. Please please, it's been a good fun. Please. I took all my PlayStation three games and put them in

a box. There you go, yeah, with move controllers and cameras. I d camerad the house. When it comes to old cameras, yeah, I took down all the old cameras. How deep were you up? Would you have like Xbox Live camm So in the living room, I had a Connect and a PlayStation three camera. I yes. Uh. In the other room, I had a PlayStation three camera and an Xbox Live Vision. Oh yeah wow. I also had a vision hooked up until about a month ago.

Yeah. So I yanked all those out from behind the TV, ran all the cables and just threw through them in in with the What do you if you played Burnout Paradise? Yeah, like, you never know when the chance to play Uno is going to present itself. It's true, but I don't have an Xbox three sixty hooked up in that room anymore island. So where is the Xbox one version of Uno? I know it's called the fucking

Xbox Uno comes with one card and you have to buy the rest. M hm m m. That's well it would be the other way actually, right, because you have all the cards in me at the paid word of them, because otherwise they would just win. Ye. Hey, do you guys want to listen to the Sony keynote? It's starting at six and we have a feed of it here. I don't know, yeah, I mean that's this is like I said, we have set c net feed coming into this board. If you wanted to stand up and tell me how to switch the

try caster over into getting the seed. It's six at six, that's an hour from now. They said, coming up next Sony Keynote. But I think I did read that it was at six. Well is Vegas at times on a way? Oh? Yeah it is? Okay then, yeah, I think it's starting. I think it will start soon as Yeah, we could put that on, although I mean, isn't that historically I think it

isn't that. Mostly just let's just have it as an option. We're not gonna I don't I don't necessarily want to like talk through the whole thing. I don't know how much game stuff there will be his whole yea, yeah, yeah. All I know is that Sony asked us if we were going to see, yes, the PlayStation PRP. So there's they do have some kind of thing there somewhere. All right, you ready, yeah, this

might get weird this wait a minute. Vegas is also specifica okay that this could be an hour away, insistent it's gonna it's gonna continue with TV, so they'll be a massive range of TVs there. It makes computers, but it makes a really good range of bio computers. It nice. And when you talk, when I talk, do I come through it? I come through? Don't know? Now this sounds fine. Tablet screen and kind of

things that move around and some things that move around. All right, well we have that as an option in case, in case anything interesting happens, I can fade it up here, real client, That sounds good. Otherwise I'm going to hang out over here and look at Brian. I guess it's coming in through there are they here? No, this this is coming in from Vegas on the roof. I have no fucking idea what they're doing. Yeah, I don't know. I guess, I don't know. We get

a studio feed from them. I never know normally, and I don't know why it comes into this room and it's it's or if they're using it. Yeah, are we talking over it right now? Hi? Hey, as Consumer Electronic Show, what do you think kind of has all this stuff going? It's a ton of great TVs here there. They hold more television before. There are so many more channels that you can watch on these TVs and you could on the old sets. It's very exciting. Talk about New Year's

resolution. That's right, it's a much higher resolution. And it's in color. Really yeah, I don't know if that's politically correct anymore. It's a television of color HD we call it now. Oh sorry, yes, yeah, sorry, it's geez At the time, I feel really bad. Tell me about refrigerators. They're cold, They're colder than ever before. That's hot news. It is hot news. Off the CS show floor. Car stereos totally non existent, not anymore. Car refrigerators. Bang, they're booming in

dash refrigerator. You want to shred papers and you're in dash paper shredder. I do you're in luck like this license and registration that don't belong to me in this car I'm driving, Yes, exactly as they're pulling you over. Just all this paperwork nothing. I don't know. I said, why the smell like shredded marijuana. I don't know what are you talking about. Throw all the shreddings into your still. This car is from Colorado. It's perfectly

I was transporting it for first running the car. Just throw it all into your end dash gas fireplace. There you go. It's bare the air. Yeah, he was holding marijuana in this car, but it was Colorado. He had in Colorado at the time, so it was fine. His car is holding it for from sold out on day one of course, of course it was like a huge line. Like I was watching, the knock was just depleted. That's just a scam from the marijuana companies to make it look

like they're selling it. I don't think there's any real companies yet. They' announcing they're sell in numbers, not their sell through. You think like big we'll see there there is a big weed yet big hemp. You know, they like, all right, take it. I'm not saying it won't get there sake. It's legalized on the federal level right like where it is across the country probably a long ways off, so sure. But do you think like you'll see like pepsi weed and like you know, it could could like

weed Brownie company, baby, Yeah, but what I mean company? The Sony keynote really is is starting now, I think Mike Blayer so no, sorry, sorry, showing the intromontage. This picture of a camera, Hey, everybody, this picture of some sort of watch a picture of some headphones with a bloggy. There's a picture of a PlayStation four a phone. Oh we really need that monitor back. I know it's better just listening to it, all right, I'll Madge drive us happy and now welcome to the stage,

Sony Group CEO Kazhai, thank you, thank you. It's been a great year. Persony. Please turn the music down. Hello, No really I can't because I live Tyler. Hello, all right, h Beyonce. There's just that's Beyonce dancing. There's a man while wearing headphones. It's a woman wearing headphones. She's boxing. It's great stuff. Man. There's a PlayStation four control anyway, picture a infamous A little bit of Infamous right there,

let's actually see who they are going to introduce its great music. Yeah, it's just there's their pant. It's a panning shot of the crowd. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Caswell. HOLI I should have realized that Di you just want to bet? What do you do it? Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to our CES twenty fourteen press conference. I want to thank you for joining us here today, and to everyone watching VR live stream,

we'd like to extend a very warm welcome as well. He's talking to me and all of you and Aline you can participate in the conversation on Twitter. All right. Oh man. Yeah, so I didn't do too much over the break. I got into eyeball in some Commodore sixty four games and stuff like that. Hot New Ones, yeah, hot and Hot New jams, little, played a little RBI baseball okay video that's up on the site,

and uh yeah, I don't know that's about it. I had multiple opportunities where it was like, oh, maybe i'll play some some games. Yeah it's like some proper modern video games, and then just went nah, I'm all right. I did end up playing a little bit of Battlefield okay, like Sunday, like I'm going back to work tomorrow. No. PS four. How was it like multiplayers? Right? Yeah? Ok, yeah,

yeah, it's uh. I was able to connect to servers and play a couple of graphical glitches here and there that I noticed, but it did not crash. Well that's something the friends aspect of it of like are my friends playing on servers and all that other stuff? None of that works. But you know, I was not having major trouble playing it. Battlefield's weird, like you know, it's every time I get back into Battlefield there for a little bit and there's like this moment where I think I'm gonna upgrade the

premium. Yeah, man, this game seems cool, like I want to see what these matt packs are and yeah, and then like it's like just busted enough to where I's going. Nah, I'm good, and then turn it off off. Yeah that's the same. Yeah. Yeah, so I don't know that's do unlock any dope new guns? Not? I I don't know, like I got you know, you're assault rifle. No, no assault rifle. I don't like shotguns. You gotta get too close. Get

the slugs. I don't know, yeah, it's right now. It's the thing I realized playing it yesterday is that I just I hadn't been I'd been playing it like Call of Duty in terms of like weapons selection and and how it was building my load out. And I build most of my Call of Duty loadouts for like the size of Call of Duty maps, Like I don't use an acog scope that has a zoom on it because that's just gets in

the way, Like I don't need that much zoom. But for battlefield where you are having these more distant encounters with with other players, like that acog scope is actually like the perfect like medium range weapon or you know, attachment for my style. So as soon as I put that scope on there, like I just started cleaning up nice. I was like, all right, okay, all right, this is this is what I've been missing the whole time, Like this is this is working now is working a lot better.

So so I started having a pretty okay time with it. Nice. Yeah, yeah it is. It's uh yeah, have you been playing four at all? Or you guys are still playing three? Still three here and there? Uh. I played a little more before, but not not enough then that with my family. Yeah, I think it's it's interesting. The more

I played it. A little bit more I played, I think it's interesting what they did with some of the class stuff, mix it up and the play listen, watch, learn, discover, communicate, create, share. So those are the words that they have on screen, yeshazzling New four K displays the watch, and at each of this past fall the keyword was created. He's gonna go through all of them. Yeah, he's He's gonna step you through the entire philosophy behind this one slide. It's amazing. You still

hear playing games to playing music, watching or participating in sports. It's hitting play on your favorite device, but above all, you're lumping all that into play. If you push play on a DVD player, that's the same as playing video games play. I don't know, it's our corporate st leave me alone. I came up with this last night. I had been drinking. They told me twenty minutes, here you go. Sorry, I'm sorry, sorry, I'm sorry. I'm winging it. Yeah, so, I you

know, I guess I'll probably stick with Battlefield. It was a weird thing though. After I played some Battlefield, I put Call of Duty in and really cleaned up in that too, like really shooting people hardy one game. Can you sort of hone you make you better at the other. Whenever I got bad, counterstrike up to go back to day defeat and that would bring me up because you train your way back. O. Man, you got one shot. Sure, yeah, yep, yeah, absolutely make account m

hm yeah. Pretty good break overall. Yeah. I thought, so it last another six months, that'd be good. Yeah, so that'd be great. I definitely got the Sunday blues over No, I'd like by Sunday. I was like, because I think I you know, that's how I managed the break was. I was like, I said, I didn't do shit, So you're ready to come back? Oh yeah. By the end of it, I was like, all right, I gotta, you know, speak again. Instead of going whole days where I don't have to because there's

no one here speak to other than myself. Turn on that webcam. Just get to the world. Talk to the world. Hey, world, have a shower in a couple of days. God. Sometimes not sure if it's me or something else is wafting in. I haven't drinking, let's talk, let's talk talk. Yeah, I get sure what it was. The channel you have to do on the PlayStation four Yeah, yeah, play good play room and then reach out. I've had some people say that that's gotten way

crazier that there's definitely been. I mean there was a stream. There was a stream. I saw a screen grap of it floating around of people just straight up doing it on a playroom stream. Really a little robot circle around the streame. I guess I don't remember that part. But sparks, sparks flying out everywhere. That's not a person, that's not a person that's oh blush. Well if you can, you got everybody's got to get it out of the system. New technology, porn, you know, paves the way.

That's true. Everything porn does pave the way, and then it never goes away. Once it's there, it's there forever. Like weeds. Hm, you guys want to talk about some news? Is there nothing happen now? There's there's a couple of things. I don't turn the volume up. I would say breaking and gritty detail that helped to tell what is arguably TV's

best story. Is all available for the first time in stunning four K, and this was a true collaboration and demonstration of the breadth of Sony's entertainment offerings including the best picture quality Sony Pictures, four K recording and mastering technologies, and the power entertainment Now was one. D three also know that consumers want choice, so we'd be remiss to offer only one option. That's why we can thank you to secure partners to expand the world of four K entertainment even

further. These include five hundred Picks for Photos, YouTube and more. Five hundred Picks is a worldwide premier photo community, and new four K Bravia TVs will have access to that community, so consumers will be able to enjoy high quality four K photos. I'm so sick of hearing about four thousand photos. I'm only just begun to collaborate with YouTube on a new Internet video decoder. Video decoder, It's a ring nine, will be built into our new products

in the near FIEU. Today, I'm really excited to announce. I'm really excited to announce that we're going to four K on YouTube content, no changeing bit rates, taken a giant leap forward. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the CEO of Netflix, mister Reed Hastings. We're gonna offer you the movies you don't want to watch anymore in a resolution that they were not originally shot in. Thank you good night. I can get Netflix on my TV.

Yeah boom, it's four K. Shit seems like such fucking bullshit. It is, swear to god. I mean, it's just it is this year's three D. It's just their way to try to sell new TVs because body has already got TVs. They're happy ones now. I think that like higher resolutions sounds great. Yeah, and I guess, you know, maybe it's smart that they're out here talking content first, but hey, you can look at photos. Hey, you can watch YouTube videos. Like YouTube's gonna be

like a They're gonna pave the way for video quality. That's they're they're gonna be the ones because you know, all the consumers streams consumer four K. You know technology out there that allows users to upload their stuff in native four K? Oh? Yeah, yeah, maybe it's the YouTube originals. We're all gonna be in a fourtune you two. I think already does technically support four K, but like, who who can record in four K? I can? What are you talking about? No? Yeah, I don't know.

I think doesn't. The new doesn't the newest GoPro actually do like fifteen frames per second four K or something like that. What like what compression on it? I don't know, no idea four K, four kilobytes per sect. Yeah, that's the bit, right, Yeah, great, let's see what this guy's to say. And so we're working with only on that to come out and be able to show on the Brovia TV. So there's gonna

be a lot of content. It's a chance for the Internet to really shine because none of the people making TV and movies give a funk about this resolution bullshit. We have roped in the internet in quotes to make content great. Great, I'd like to watch something in four kN and four K TV totally. Yeah, I mean once it's you know, like obviously, all of these things will progress, resolutions will continue to get better, like that's just the nature of things, right, Well, the Internet will get faster,

storage will get cheaper. Yeah, just right now. I don't think we're obviously there's a point in the future where four K will make sense. But this year I don't think is the year. Well maybe they're laying the foundations. I don't know, but yeah, for selling these TVs this year, that seems selling the TVs is putting the cart before the horse, Like getting color that was a big deal. Going widescreen, I think it was a big deal. Flat panels instead of HD was a huge leap. It was

a big deal. We are we are into diminishing returns. He didn't seem like usually at the time like when it when it was like finally reaching a point where it was a consumer level upgrade, not like when like when I would go to CES and they'd be like, this is an HDTV. You see it and be like this is fucking mind blowing because it was all their custom content. There was you know, like underwater shots and all this great looking stuff. But when I went out and bought my first HDTV, like,

yeah, it look nice, but the content generally wasn't there. But it wasn't know, maybe you got one way before I did. But I got mine into first one in two thousand and eight, and it blew my fucking mind. Yeah I got from the day I got mine and hooked an

original Xbox up to it. Okay, so that's the thing. By the time I got an HDTV, like PS three and three sixty were well established, Like I was getting HD channels through Rabbit ears that seven twenty two did seven twenty there were a few games, Yeah, there were a few games that did it, and there were some PS two games that did four ADP. But I mean that's kind of where we're at with games on four K

now, Like these new consoles can't even touch four K. Yeah. Also, it looks like what's gonna look like reported F zero x four k, right, it's like flow in four K, right or something. But like, yeah, I think they diminishing returns at this point. Yeah, Like when I went four by three to widescreen, I thought that was pretty cool. Yeah, like that was a huge deal going for that was just just

straight up in different shape. Like the resolution stuff, Like, yeah, I look better, But I think it's one of those things of like also being like a PC owner at some point, the resolution stuff just it doesn't like I've already been running pretty high resolutions PC. So seen TV, it's like, okay, great, it's catching up. Great, Like Blue Ray. I don't know if you guys still watch blue rays, but they look pretty fucking good. Yeah on my TV at home, Like I don't need

movies to look better than that at the moment. I want somebody to get up there with a paint roller, paint the wall and then turn it on and say like, I just made a TV. Here's here's TV in a can. Yeah, yeah, hit paint the wall and it turns into a TV. This new electron paint, uh fed is gonna get Yeah, that's the fucking Panasonic gets up there and says, yeah, I don't know what Sony was talking about. Check this out here. Here's the Sony press conferences.

I just painted it, like that's what I want. Somebody to get up there. We haven't told anybody and we're so surprised it didn't leak. Check it out. Here's a man covered in that paint. He's now a movie well dead, with upcoming twenty fourteen projects ranging from Spike Lee's newest movie, The Sweet Blood of Jesus, to Think Like a Man Too, and About Last Night on TV. Our fifty five cameras are now being used by Hulu to produce an original four K series and Sony's Crackle platform, wanting many

of its Sony's Crackle platform they owned Crack. I guess TV shows like Trophy Wife Hot new TV shows like Trophy Wife are using it. So four K, fuck are you doing? I don't know. Yeah, the content is there, clearly. They showed spider Man on that screen earlier. Four K. Spider Man's the leader of all new technology the PlayStation three. Four K like that spider Man is the harbinger of new expensive deck. Spider Man goes, the rest will follow. Yeah, okay, yeah, but let's see

what's happened in na CS news. Stuff happened. I just thought of a couple. Two K has erased all mentions of uh, the Major League Baseball from its website and all this other stuff. It looks like they are out of the baseball gamere noticed that there were Yeah, they were the exclusive rights holder for a third party baseball, So that meant EA could not make a baseball game, but that Sony could. So this year it would seem that the only baseball game is gonna hit, is gonna be the show, is

Sony's game. So unless Microsoft steps up. Yeah, I mean two k's baseball game has not been outstanding for brings back n or whatever was the XSN It's gonna be MLB Inside Pitch twenty fourteen. It's gonna be huge, huge, I feel like baseball video games are just hard to do in this day and age. People really like the show. It's it's very configurable. It's

like very true to the game of baseball because I understand it. But I mean I have no fun playing that game, like for as confusing as most sports games have gotten over the years, you know, compared to the sixteen bit games and stuff like that. Like I thought that baseball mini game in Link Between World is gonna lame. Yeah hardly. Yeah, I didn't really enjoy it. Yeah, we gotta hit the yea happened. Not enough control. Here's your four KSE system seller soccer for instance, the World ces.

We will have two four K projectives blended to give a full soccer field image. This guy seems really blown away about his full soccer field image. Is gonna be fund and some changes, uh you know around EA, some departures, stuff like that Alex Warden feel a Sperry or the Ran Criterion. Yeah, uh, they are no longer with EA. They announced any plans to go somewhere. They say that they're looking to start their own studio and kind of go that route with it. Cool, wish them the best. Yeah,

interesting weird, weird history and see what they come up with. Yeah, yeah, you know, it was kind of just a weird thing for Criterion with like most of the developers moving over to this Ghost Games thing and working on Need for Speed. And I was like, well what is Criterion now? And they're like, what we're working on a thing, like, nah, are you I don't know games? I mean Burnout stuff really went

places. Yeah, it really did. It's a it's a shame because you know, it's like you you got to think that, like there probably aren't too many champions for Burnout left at EA these days that would be able to overcome the kind of inertia that Need for Speed has in terms of just being a bigger brand name and stuff like that. Is it performing, must be selling Need for Speed? Yeah yeah, I mean it would outperform as I understand it. Burnout. Yes, it's just because of the brand. Yes,

it's weird. And they felt it was, you know, like the brand with the real cars and stuff like that, that it was just a more appealing game to a wider audience as opposed to like crash them up fake cars weird, which too bad. This is a dumb thing. It's something for people to get hung up on because real cars are boring yep. And the fake cars they designed for Burnout I thought were fucking great. I wouldn't even know the difference. Yeah, yeah, I just I don't care.

I just want to I want I want to crash them. Yeah, I want it to be fun to drive them. Yeah. And you know, there have been some great I mean even Criterion did some terrific need for speed games in their time with the franchise and stuff. So I just think they was cool. Yeah. I think even more than the car So they're just smart about some of the online and the multiplayer stuff that was Yeah at the time, like it seems totally crazy. Yeah, I mean Burnout Paradise,

like I said, game of the generation. It's pretty good, aren't there. Stuff. It's the game of the generation. It's like top five, top ten. It's like, I mean, if you want to say it's number two, maybe we could have that talk about whether Call of Duty four is better than Burnout Paradise. But what Call of Duty two four? That's pretty good game too? Yeah? Important important? Well are we ranking the most important games of the generation? It was? I mean I think it's

both. I think Call of Duty four is both what's the generation. I don't think it's the best game. I think the generation is. I think that that's how this conversation has to actually start is defining the terms. I would say, we are literally talking about console games from the Xbox three, sixty, PlayStation three and we okay, so no period. I think we should cut PC out of it to to Otherwise you get into time frames and years and graphics, hardware and stuff like that, and it's a weird list.

But it's a weird list either way. So forty four minimum specs must include that. You know, it's it's a weird Generations don't exist on the PC. It's it is forever. It is eternal. And that's right up until the point where they, you know, make it hard for you to run old games. I'd say they do in insofar as game design on the PC is influenced by what the consoles are doing. You were totally right, but but that but that's a weird gray slivery slope. Yeah, I think

to make it cleaner, that would be. That would be the consideration. And it is a game console, and but do you think we should include handheld games? And what would that be? Yeah, that would be because like the PSP like launched and withered, and then the Vita launched, all in the space of quote unquote flast generation. Yeah, but you probably don't want to include both of those in this conversation. Be a subcategory. And

like the DS flourished, but the three DS came out. Yeah, yeah, they both kind of operated on a weird cycle that was not lined up with the console. So to make it cleanest, we could just talk about the console generations the yes, the big three, unless there is a fourth console that you can think of, the Phantom, the Nwan that would not have fallen into that category in that context. The top three is we Sports call Duty four, Burnout Paradise. So no rock Band or rock Band's probably

number four right there with US Guitar Heroes. Last generation. Yeah it is. Yeah. Again, like it sounds like you're talking about most important games the generation, which is a fine list to put together. No, I'm just wait. We Sports, We Sports is a great fucking game. Sports is one of the most important games. Perhaps it is, Yeah, it is, it is hyper important, but also it's really fucking good. Is a great important it made the week? I mean like that that might actually

be the best selling game of the generation or up there? Right, Yeah, exactly. We Sports pretty much does exactly what it sets out to do. You know, I think it's okay, I don't know, you know, maybe it's not number one. Yeah, but it is incredibly well made. I think it is super fun. It's single handedly made the Wii a viable console. But that's all. That's the only thing that did. But look at how milani of those it went on to sell, Right, I'm

gonna saying it might have been important for Nintendo. Oh sure, Yeah, I don't know how important for me, Like something like Mass Effect two. Massifecto is a fantastic game. It is, but it's only it's Yeah, but it's that's the thing. It's only one third of Continued Ark. But we're right, we're only talking. It has to be a game, not a series. I think it has to be a game, not a series.

And I think I'm saying, like furthermore, like ground rules wise, you would have to say we are going to try to get as many different franch shies is in here, as opposed to saying, well, Uncharted two is number two and Uncharted three is number eleven. You know, like that you pick one, you pick Uncharted two, and you leave on Charted three off. You pick mass Effect two, you leave the other two off. Charted two stands on its own quite well. Mass Effect two is hindered by

relying on two inferior games. But I'm saying, like, if you were talking about mass effect in the context of this conversation, you were talking about Mass Effect two, how about Gears of War? Gears does nothing for me when I think back on but it's I think it's a very I think it dictated a whole generation of games totally. Yeah, like in the importance. Yeah, but again, are we talking about important games or games that you

like? I don't know. You brought up we sports. I like, I think Gears is important, and I also really like you three of the core Gears games like they're like I'm saying one as of right now thinking back on it, like, it doesn't really my heart does not swell. By the end of Gears three, I was straight up fucking dumb. I mean, I thought Gears three far best. I enjoyed it the most. I think it was the best. It was the most refined in terms of like

variety and stuff like that. You know, the things they've done to the multiplayer by three made it more viable. But I might actually just say here's one because I think it was just such a better campaign than that what they did after that, and like Halo like with the with the matchmaking stuff and then the stuff like Halo three was was a profound release. Uh. I

think that's an important game just for showing console server stuff. But it was Halo two, did I'll pick one a lot of Well, Halo two was not a three sixty game, so didn't have all the ad matchmaking, It didn't have stuff like the forage or the theater or three did a lot of

stuff around the edges. Yeah, but I think, you know, the game you pick to represent a franchise, you would have to pick a balance between importance and sheer value or or you know, like like in you know greatness at the time, because like Call of Duty four was you SURPD in a lot of ways by the games that that came afterwards. Like you might say, Black Ops is the pinnacle across the board, like where they got it, where they refined the formula. Yeah, I got the closest perfection

you might. You might I would I would probably go with before. Yeah, but four is like, yeah, that is the watershed moment. That is like that game came out, everything that came out after it was changed. That's kind of any thing about gears. But it's paradim shito. What's that paradise subject there? So yeah, stellar rules, the household whatever, they're looking at pictures of dogs. I don't know, Okay, So I think those have to be the ground rules. That's a lot of rules,

it's I mean, yeah, and some of them are total bullshit. But that's all lists and all forms of total bullshit. You have to yeah, exactly, all lists and all forms are like based on total bullshit. There, total arbitrary, arbitrary. So let's make the rules work for us by honing the conversation, as opposed to make the work against us by having us consider a trillion different factors. That would I think that counts. That's that's

like that that might be like top three or something. That's Geometry Wars is a fantastic game. Would you do a hundred games of the generation? I would rather play Smash TV really perfect? Imagine sorting game is nearly perfect, seventy eight or seventy nine. Fucking I don't care, it's okay, all right, all right? Oh god, let's not do this all at once. Yeah, I mean we should stretch it out over some period of time or something. But let's go a month by month. It'll only take us

ten years. Okay. Yeah, what came out this month in two thousand and three? I don't know. I don't panther dragoon order it wins. All right. Wait, we're doing Game of the Month again. Yeah, come back around of that. Everybody have their votes on by Thursday noon? Please? Does it bring any news about any Valve stuff? Does that happen? There's some steam Box stuff coming out of CS right now, like who

wonder people getting this? What company? No? No, I mean like other new models being announce Yeah, just different companies like alien waar and just like you know, a much different companies saying hey, we're also going to make a Steam certified machine. But no, like screenshots of a NOSK or anything like that, we go download the doesn't want its thing? We should we actually probably should do that if we can find a PC. Yeah, I think it has to have an ATI card in it. What's wait?

Sure I thought they said that. I mean that's like the beta right for right now doesn't have probably might trust effects, weird physics, extra eyes. When I'm calling the reference standard for four K, what's he show? What's he showing? What's happening? What what's you doing? It's televisions. In addition to try luminous display and four K X reality pro our flaw, the X nine fifty B series TV features extended Dynamic Range PRO technology to deliver superb

picture quality. Oh well it's superb. You feel the beauty. A much wider dynamic has appeared on the screen. Thanks for telling me that your brand new ten TV is going to look good. I was worried for sixty five inches and our largest of the line eighty five. These televisions are eye catching no matter what you're viewing. How thick is it looks thin? Joining the four K Ultra HD Bravia range is the X nine hundred fucking tarps off of TVs. As he's saying them, this series of TV is sure to please

the most discerning viewer with features that enhanced the home theater experience. I don't know, I'm looking at this TV on this like internet stream. It look the picture looks like ship. The soccer fields all jaggy. I don't know. This seems like a bunch of crap. Well, it's not blended. Are any of those did they say, I don't know, high density probe it's Ultra HD Ultra HD XB nine thousand. Yeah, x XBR Bravos. Yeah, for the best, they were great, trying to troyn t Yeah,

for a four K experience. Well, it's a lot of we've been checking in. Yeah, and it's been four K for the last four Will they really are using that XBR like distinction again? Brought that back ages old? Yeah, or are still using it or whatever? They stuck with the Bravia name punchy patch that out years ago. Yeah, totally go back, go back to Vegas, talk about four ksymore. We're also working on the next generation four K media player. We can't just can't. What's the next?

What's the next? What is the media player? Ab via televisions because you know who to media format? Yeah, exactly, a track three and UMD supportable four K Bravia TVs, but many discs applications video available now in the US and EXPANSE. There's a press conference going on right now too. Allows you to instantly enjoy your four K photos in all their glory on your screen four thousand by whatever whatever? How many megapixels that? Why do they

just start building TVs? Is like content and hardware, whether you're capturing your own with any of our device, were watching professionally created entertainment, the very highest achievable quality in detail. See at Sony. We don't believe in the phrase just good enough in a world which I don't know man sacrifice for convenience or accessibility, that we go above and beyond? Why did you make it twelve and with Sony four k al trade? How come the friends list on

PS four loads so poorly? Then that's just good enough. We gotta ship it. It's good enough to hear that. We'll fix it later. So let's talk. Here's Sony. Our slogan is hi res audio three to seven times hi res audio, delivering sound the way the artist meant it to be heard. Okay, hi res audio, hi res audio. What's the resolution on this audio? Four KOs four K audio? Okay, man, that's pretty little bit right, I don't worry about it. Were up to twenty

eight now it's one sixty. Holy crap. Valve, valve press release just came out about Steam machines. There are what looks to be about a whole new approach that makes their more compatible flack ape Uh. Looks looks to be about a dozen different companies making steam boxes. Yeah, yeah, totally, including such luminaries as Falcon Northwest Yeah uh and Falcon four point zero and the next Spa Yeah, and Webb Holland I needed a good spot computers. Are

there prices on any of these? It says the lowest end model is four ninety nine. That's actually more expensive. Yeah, I'm kind of surprised. It's come with a controller starting at four eight four ninety nine and top end systems rivaling today's bleeding edge gaming PCs. One of the songs we were recording for it was called say something, Wow, I'm really saying something in high res audio an episode of So You Think you Can Dance? And that kind

of yeahs turn that off. H. So that's all I add for the news. I mean this, this press conference is still happening. So you think something will get announced. I imagine they'll have a PlayStation chunk at some point, sure say here's what's going on. They'll they'll have to announce uh sales stuff because Microsoft announced I guess three million units sold through in. I think I'm not sure, but they used the retailers through is the consumers?

Yeah, okay, yeah, I could actually look and see what the actual language on it was. They've done sell through up to this point, so I'm not sure if this was a switch to sell in, but they did. They did throw a three million number out there. Let's see if I had deleted that email or not. Meanwhile, let's have dueling press conference recaps. Gabe Newell apparently said at the Valve thing that Dota two is bigger than Monday Night Football. Wow. Well, yeah, they fucked up like the

NFL totally fucked up. NFL Monday Night Football though, like Sunday Night Football is the game that matters now because they moved Monday Night Football to ESPN. That's just now it's capable like Monday. It's a like Monday Night Football is a shample. It's compared to what it used to be. It's not it's not the institution that like I'm taking my friends are Monday night football is one compared to Sun Football. About that. Actually, Dot to one is still

bigger. Look man, do two or league. As far as I know, we ushered in and blah blah blah's get number one, record setting pace, the fastest selling They keep using this fastest selling console during our launch month thing, and I don't I don't know that they've ever said exactly what that means. But you know this doesn't over Okay, Yeah, that's sell through. Over three million Xbox one consoles were sold to consumers in thirteen countries before

the end of twenty thirteen. Well, somebody's gonna be hitting their next market soon, right, Japan in February, Japan in February. Yeah, yeah, twenty second, I think it is. I'm not sure if that's the next launch. It probably is. I'm not sure where they're available right now. How many people are in Japan, like fifty seventy five. It's pretty small islands. Yeah, they all too busy plane wind jammers to really notice.

It's American sport depends when you take the sense of like after a battle Royale, like, oh well yeah, that's Y's like you wait a little bit. Yeah, that's why the population is getting so much older over there, is because all the kids keep killing each other pair scissors versus hand grenades the most extreme. Yes, yeah, he knows. Oh four K Yeah, four K is the most extreme. So what are they gonna do when they get to the place? Guys talking about fucking headphones? See a relatively

silent pursuit. That was until the walkman w allowed you to set your laps to music. It contained player headset, is fully waterproof and perfect for pumping up your market. Olympic Marathon. Olympic Marathon. I'm Meg Gofleski. Easy for you, say, huh. I feel like obligated now this point to make sure that we are here. When they do talk about the PlayStation stuff, just kind of wait until you see a picture of that. See if they say four K during that thing? Right, yeah, but now they're

talking about headphones for running. I believe it was swimming, scretch. Now they've moved on from swimming to running. Oh because he's a marathon. Uh yeah, this the bias can run for sixty minutes, right, doesn't seem like that. I don't know, that doesn't seem like that long. What's the cats like? It's real, really good. It's high rez audio and kind of has an impact on battery life. I guess, wait, sixty minutes is like, what they've faded up the set desk. There's our latest

action cab. Oh they okay this I don't know they this like the scene at desk kind of faded up in an in set shot, but there was no audio with it. They're just hanging out there there. They seem to

on the show floor that may improve your game. It will actually be right over here, it's to my right. Tennis censor is a lightweight device. And your smartphone analyzers on fire because they make too many TVs. The bunch of new TVs like way too many models opens up and

a tennis censor user experiences. And it's in the area of mobile devices where we're really changing the rules now that it's they're showing a Windows tablets. Here was a big year for Sony's mobile business, and in twenty fourteen, we're bringing even more excitement and innovation for the mobile space, which will now by my good friends, welcome Sony's executive vice president and President and CEO of Sony Mobile Communications, Kunimasa Suzuki s. Yeah, thank you, Mike, Hello

everyone, thank you for joining us. I'm glad to be here. It's good to be here. Now. I know you expect me to talk about the smartphone and I will great. Bob, wait before I do, Okay, I have son of things to show you. Is he gonna put something out of his important future? Yeah? A small, smaller taste hot to be hot in a mine penis cent sir. At the angle of the swing, the impact on the end of the racket, like the whole thing. All right, it is faded to black. They're going to show some sort

of video for some sort of new products. Yep, this a dog. It's painting up. This appears to be some sort of life tracker that is tracking time in bed and time spent listening to music. It's a silhouette walking around the house, silhouette gotten, a silhouette, car slow at car, changed color, silhouette getting on a bus, a park and ride. Why would you do that? Yeah? This is some sort of fitness tracking thing or something that also tracks how much time you were in bed. I was

on my phone? Why and now it's showing a phone? Wait a minute, is it over? It's over? What do you just solve? Was total bullshit? What do we call SmartWare experience? It's a wearable sony SmartWare experience. Conscists all outcome. It's a SmartWare Oh, SmartWare products experience, smartphones and the live rog application which you sold in the video. We are all right. I got a few emails here, emails. There you go BombCast at giant bomb dot com. Is your your picked click for the new

generation of email? Wow, Sorry, I've watched too much of this. Joined the conversation, Join the conversation. We are very happy to announce email support or this podcast in the new prototype. Please watch this video before we get to emails. Before we get to emails, I enjoying the world along you. Mm hm. Brendon in New York writes In says, now that voice recognition is commonplace. Do you think we're finally going to see a new

version of Seaman? Just imagine how cool it would be if you could Seaman eyes your own face via connect. That's the only reason I took this email. Yeah, very good. That was very good. Yeah. Great. Sega's not going to make a new Seaman game. SEC is not even making new versions of games that were actually popular. Why would they make a new Seaman? Actually, I don't know they even Seaman Total War developed original Seaman. There's only one came out here, right, yeah, yeah, two

came out over there on the p S two. Sound of people taking pictures of technology could be the tiniest the gadget. Sony has it ever? Mate? What is it? It's a little ship's at the heart. I don't know. That's a little quarter shaped the core, it's the core, the life log application. This tiny waterproof device. We let you capture and analyze many aspects of your life. Hide it in your ass. This is creepy. It's pretty small. Bide you with the information you need to explore,

and they enjoy the world around you. Okay, this core can be worn and the counterst different ways. For example, all right, where do I wear it? Subdermal? It's not that small, this core in this smart band. Actually, this is already it's a it's a wrist band, this band smart band, which will be available this spring. Yeah, now let's take a growth they experienced. Did he hold up his wrist very ready? Yeah, it's just four K. I don't know they haven't gotten to that

part yet, but it's probably all TRAHD. This video of very nice product shots. What is what do they do? Brad? You know what? If you fit it? Just got one? Why would one? Why would one wear one? I mean, if you want metrics on your activities. I bought that job boned up because it purported to say how well you were sleeping at night. That's in addition to the walking something that you're not aware of consciously exactly. I was like, oh, I wonder you know,

like what am I getting deep sleep? And it turned out I was. I was like, Okay, mission accomplished. I'm gonna stop wearing this. Like, Brad, what are you hoping to? I know it's a gift, but like, what would you hope to get out of your Fitbit? I'm hoping it's motivating factor to say, like I'm not walking in something that I've been slacking off? Do you compete with you can? I mean,

well, you know each each one. You know, there's there's the Nike one, there's fit Bit, there's yeah, so like with the job of them, Yeah, like each one it would sink to an app and you could have friends lists and stuff and it would tell you how what you were doing each one. Each one has its own ecosystem obviously, so you know Fitbit friends list is separate from the Nike friends list. Sever but this one

at least will let you export data in like some common health formats. I didn't even know such thing existed, h t H. But but there are like like you can spit the data out that will go into other sort of lifestyle tracking software that that will let you aggregate that stuff. But it's like

tracking steps like a pometer. Yeah, yeah, this thing, this thing does, uh it does steps distance stairs like flights of stairs or heart rad No, no, no, no, definitely not just although I read that like statistically, like these things are actually shown to increase activity level if you want to get moved psychologically, Like they tend to get people to be more active than they were watching you than you tend to do a little bit of

Nike one, like it shows you a a number. It's not calories, it's like fuel fuel is there fake score, it's like a high score score. And so like when he like gets home or you know, home weekends, he's running around doing areas or something, and it says like twenty nine hundred, Yeah, he'll go out and run for a bit until it his three thousand, and that's just a round number. Yeah, Like this thing, I don't know if you can see it from here, but if I

go to the steps display, there's a little bar underneath it. Okay, the default goal on this one is just ten thousand steps a day, which is like the American Heart Associations like recommended minimum activity. Yeah, that's all the job on ever really wanted. You could set your own, Yeah, you same here. You can go on go on the dashboard and just like type in your own goal for you know, I want to there's another between a step and a run. I don't know. I don't, like I

said, today is the first day I've used it. I don't know about that. Maybe don't the jama didn't know about that, but you guess it does. Actually, I just I'm sorry. I just found the difference between two steps and running step up like the poker tracker or whatever. Count your step yep, yeah, yeah. There have been tons of things that it's

just basic pedometer stuff kind of taken to the next sort of iteration. Yeah, Like the job bone would do stuff where like if you were gonna go running, you could hit a button and start a timer and then when you were done, you would hit stop, and then later on you would classify it in the app as this I was running, I was fucking you know, like whatever you were into with that time. Oh you went up an elevator, I did. Yeah, I was sleeping in an elevator. Yeah,

got it interesting. And then that thing broke because apparently they all break, because all the job oonne ups were total pieces of like physically broke, like it wouldn't stay on, it doesn't work, and that was apparently a widespread issue those things. Rather than go get it fixed because apparently the ones that people were getting replaced also broke. I said, well, that's that all right, Great, I had learned the thing I wanted to know.

Apparently sleeping just fine. How do you find the bracelet? Brad? That's the one thing that people don't like about this thing, and I can kind of understand. It's initially pretty hard to clasp, but once I figured out how to do it, it works pretty much fun. And now you're wearing ah, you know, jewelry. Yeah, you're not a watch guy. I know. I haven't wren to watch in almost twenty years, so it's

kind of weird. Adjust a pebble steel instead, man. Yeah. Yeah, because it's it's pretty minimal, and it's you know, it's got a nice screen on it, so you can have hit the button and get the time. Stuff like that. You can go on, you can go in the dashboard and change your your clock face. There are different styles of clocks. It's kind of cool in this, but I can tell you I've taken three hundred and forty four steps, so you've taken over thirty three hundred steps

today. Wow. Wow, but that's only a third of my the way to my daily goal of ten thousand. What's he holding up there? Two phones? He's showing that one is smaller than the other, and people are clapping. I don't know if they're clapping because the one phone is smaller because the other one got bigger, smaller than three design. It's a stydish metal on the high resolution display. Amazing to any bang up pixel camera. There you go, exactly what you expect. Uromahiro device. I just got a

nap on my phone. Moves three bucks. Yeah, I've heard of that. It's pretty cool. It'll track you on a map too. Yeah, say like, yeah, I've heard those are pretty good. I'm mainly I'm afraid to go out and exercise with my phone. It burns the heck out of your battery. That. Yeah, I heard it would also do that. I'm just worried about it, like bouncing out of my pocket and hitting

the ground. Like the announced a smaller phone, Like I don't know, like maybe that's the same screen size and it's just all like bezel reduction or something like that. But the whole trend was bigger phone cs. Keynotes are boring as shit now, It's really they really are almost almost to a one sweetness. They're just horrible handheld sweetness. He held up a different phone that's

a different color. Thanks to Sony's strong history of making a compact that is out compromising the creatures, the best of Sony can now fit perfect today in your in the palm of your hand. People are standing up to get a better shot of these fucking phones. Ah, doomed. What do those phones run? I don't know, right, pretty sure, let's see palm os Is it is Sony ericson stuff or experience? These are all experienced devices ericson. I don't think they used the Erickson name anymore. Okay, it's all

SMC, Sony Mobile Communications or whatever corporation, whatever it was. John writes in and says, I just finished watching Jeff play RBI baseball and was thinking of my own memories of playing Blades of Steel. Do you think that modern sports games could benefit from a simplification of their mechanics or is it just nostalgia that makes these games great? Yeah? See, this is what I was going to ask you earlier, Like, why do you think we've gotten away

from the simplicity of those games. Do you think because they're the graphics are better and and people playing games expect more features, well they're more simulation now, yeah, like, but there's the difference between features and depth, right, I mean we've seen with win Jammers. Yeah it's a simple game. But right, I think it's that the bulk of the people that purchase sports

products care about the real sports and care about authenticity and realism. It's why when Sega went out and did you know, all Pro football to you know whatever that didn't have real players or didn't have the NFL license because you know, EA locked it up like no one cared, and that Backbreaker game came out, No one cared. People want the real thing. It's why I needed for speed Out sells Burnout in some cases as real cars, and Burnout

doesn't. You know, there's people that whether it makes a better game or not, there are people that have it in their head that they want that level of authenticity and they want games that go to extremes. But you know, once that started happening, we grat to hockey the that it was like NBA jam but hockey it wasn't good. Yeah, it wasn't great. It

wasn't great. I think once those things got more complicated and more correctly emulated the real sports, the people that care about those real sports went there. And it's why I like, I mean, he just tried to do NFL Blitz. Recently, they tried to do a couple of NBA jams and like they didn't, you know, like they kind of did. Okay, I guess that's why you see people who like only play Madden, right, Yeah,

Like they just that's that's the realistic football game. They know that that's going to be the thing that's gonna have what they're looking for in terms of they care about real football and all that other stuff. Yeah. Yeah, it was like you're saying, with the need for speed having real cars, Yeah, like that, There's there's definitely value in that. It's why when it became available and they found a good way to get it, ya went

ahead and got the UFC license. You know, they can get the right league, they can go that comes with all the right five you know, before that, they did that a Sports MMA game that had like the Strike Force fighters in it. Before that got bought by UFC, and yeah, no one really cared, even if it was a pretty good game on its own. I also think that those games came out today, people would look

at him as low value totally. Yeah, you know, those become downloadables and stuff like that, like you can get away with fifteen dollars, five dollars, you know, games of that nature. But they've done that, like they did you know MLB Power pros like the Konami style uh baseball game. You know, they did something like that. Yeah, Like you know, a tech like a new tech Mo Bowl game came out like a couple of years ago that was not so great. Uh it was it was a

portable, wasn't it was a handheld? Uh? It was an Xbox Live arcade game. But it may have also something happened come to the handhelts everybody Xperia, zvan s comes these unique entertainment offer all right. They were showing the PlayStation app there for a second, but it was just the same thing

that's on iOS. So yeah, I just think that's the bulk of the audience for sports like wants authenticity over playability, and and the market for that kind of arcade style sports game or that kind of like you know, more

accessible experience just doesn't really exist in the numbers that it used to. And it's like I kind of give EA some credit for like making that attempt, Like it was a pretty valiant effort of them to say, like, no, we're going to go make a new NBA JAM and like we're going to kind of do right by that game's roots and not try to overcomplicate it. I mean, they made it a deeper game than it was, and I don't know if that made it better or worse, but you know, they

they did pretty good. You know, Blitz I think was unfortunate in a couple of key ways compared to actual real midway NFL Blitz, But uh, you know, it was cool they tried it. But I just don't think anyone really cares. So robots sports, Yeah, it's why. You know, you still get stuff like that in golf, Like you still get hotshots golf, you still get Mario Golf. Well, I guess there has actually been a Mario Golf probably since that GameCube game has there. I don't think

there are three D S one or D one. Rather, it might be a DS one. I don't know what if that came out before you know, yeah, you get Camelot and Clap Hands and you know, Japanese companies like that and making good, solid, accessible golf games. Uh, and that's great, but not not a ton of stuff like that. It's too bad. But at the same time, like those games have come out and I didn't even play them with the fervor that I used to actually play legitimately

play sports games with. So it's it's sort of probably a mixture of people haven't moved on and it's gotta be some happy medium though, right, I mean, i'd like to think. So what little I've played, it's very little of the NHL games seems like they're towing the line pretty well between like all the features that you want, Like you can do everything that you like a hockey player can do, but it's not hard to do or you you know, as long as you understand how to do it, you can do

it. Yeah, put some practice. Yeah, he tries to do it with different control options with you know, like like hockey specifically as likening, you can go back to like two button mode or three button mode or whatever it is to try to simple fly it. And yeah, I think hockey is probably the most accessible sports game that we played last year. Yeah, I got basketball wasn't so bad hit the button and pass. I feel like I was not slam duncan like I ought to. I just think maybe I

don't know. I don't watch enough basketball. Is that just how basketball is? I have no fucking idea. You don't just throw the ball to the other side of the court and they breaks the back every time fast break. That's the Lake Show, right, It's just I don't I don't know. That's how I thought it was gonna go. Yeah, if I'm running and I hit the button that shoots, I should jump from wherever I am half court wherever. Yeah, I might not make it. Yeah, but like

I'm running, Yeah, totally, I was laid it up. Yeah, that cricket game was the most realistic sports game I've played from what I know about cricket. Yeah, dead on, dead on real cricket. The realist uh Phil Wrightson and says, as we all agree, sim City was a disappointing game. The score, however, was pretty dope by Chris Tilton. Do you think that his work is considered less valuable in the industry because the game for which he composed a dope score turned out to be a clunker,

surely not. No, no, yes, And it's one of the interesting things here. They've gone back to the desk here at Sony. A few of the things that we heard about, you know what Sony talked about and released. The one thing that stuck out with me is breaking Bad in four K. Yeah. I wonder if that's over. I wonder if they didn't actually have a PlayStation chunk or if they're just cutting in and break. I don't know, but it's maybe it's over. I think it's I think it's

over lame. Well, that was fun. I get the impression that like people who stuck through, and it's it's a little I mean, doing the score for a game is a little different because you know, you're doing your work kind of separate. But like, if you shipped a game and it turned out to be a bad game, that's probably still better for your career than not shipping a game. Yeah, well, it's definitely better than than

not shipping game at all on your resume. But like a lot of like middling or bad games have really compelling, crazy development stories attached to them that are like described the game as being completely in crisis. Yeah, so if you made it through that project and managed to get something on shelves, and by some miracle it did not burst into flames and take people with it when it went. That is probably still pretty good for your resume. Sure.

I mean, you know, if you can say, like, hey, I'm actually like the creative direct or, I'm the person behind this great award winning game, like, that's great too. But my understanding is that like the people that are you know, in the trenches sticking it out, fucking making shit happen on these games that you know go on to get shipped on by assholes like us or or totally passed over by assholes like us, there's

still real value in that. Yeah, And I gotta believe that. I don't know how the music biz do, but I would imagine sending in that music itself is gonna influence someone's decision work much more than yeah, music work, you know, particularly in a game where whether it's you know, how interactive it is or what or whatever it might not be in you know, the realm of the composer or something like that that much. But you know, like the the actual music of the game, that, yeah, that

totally stand on its own. It's like, hey, you'd like this music, we like the style of music, or you know, we want something like it, And then it becomes like, well, did did so? Did this person turn it in in a timely fashion? Were they easy to work with if we needed a change made? Could they make it really quickly?

I mean in Tilton's case, he was not internal on that project, like he was external doing the score and stuff, so as like a contractor, it would be like, Okay, how easy was he to work with? Was he a total dick? Probably? Probably? Probably Tilton? He's wasted constantly. Can't trust him, No, obviously, you know we're friends

with him, so grain of salt or whatever. Like I went back and watched some footage of sim City when we were doing the awards and stuff, and like that music is like fucking perfect for that kind of game, except for that part, Like there's one song where it's really good. Yeah, weird, I don't know, the music can't the music can't turn left a little a little really strange, and the music was a little slow, like

originally it was running it like the music was running cheetah speed. And then no, I don't think that being associated with a bad game or a disappoint poinning game, and in that case necessarily is bad for your career. If you're the person at the top of a project that went totally sideways, and that the stories that get around the business are that went bad because the people at the top didn't know what the fuck they were doing, that might be

a problem, But even those people get jobs. I think, well, if the game were terrible and the music were bad, oh yeah, if the music was bad, then yeah, that's feel like the thing people are talking about was like the music. So yeah, I mean to your excure point about it being better to ship a bad game than no game, Like, maybe maybe this should be totally self evident, but it seems like the people who make video games understand all the many different ways that making a video

game can go wrong. Yeah, and moreover, they understand that a game coming out bad is not necessarily the fault of anyone or you know, handful of people on the team necessarily exactly. It's like, and you know, you can be attached to a good game, but you could still be a total fuck up, right it could have been you know, in spite of you being garbage, the game still came out fantastic. Conversily, you can have a bunch of really talented people working on a project under all kinds of

dress that makes it come out in some horrible compromised state. Yeah, so I suspect that, Like, you know, when it comes to that sort of process, like if you're a hiring manager and you're doing it the right way, you are finding the good people and you're you're getting the stories out of them and going like, tell me about this project and what were the

challenges associated with it and how did you you address those challenges personally? Plus you know, like you know, artist Steph portfolios, you know, like I always hear about, you know, people being hired in programming jobs, you know, often put on the spot and have to solve serious serious right now, eating a hot dog, I mean a hot dog. What would be some good hot dog music for this hot dog game we're making seven Yeah,

weird time signature, it's about hot dogs. That being said, I bet it's pretty awesome when everything comes together and you're a piece of the game is also a piece of one of the greatest games. Oh sure, yeah, I did that. I did that. Yeah, music for Brennan Paradise. It's it's funny. Yeah, I picked out the soundtrack for Yeah,

it's all weird. Ever, once in a while, when like we you know, if we panned the game for something like a year ago, two years ago, and then it gets to the point where the people who made it feel comfortable talking about it. Yeah, and then you hear specific stories of the perfilliate, like things were bad about the game that you look at and you went like, what person in the right mind would make it this

way? And then you hear the story like it was Yeah, you hear the story a couple of years later of exactly why it came out that way, and you're like, oh, well, nobody in their right mind wanted to do it that way, right, Just hear the like three to five fucked up things that converged and made it happen like that weird eleventh hour mandate.

Right. It's always really funny to me to like it's happen. It's happened multiple times where I've reviewed a game, pointed out flaws with a game, like, you know, six months a year later something like that, had a conversation with someone who worked on the game and said, yeah, you're right, this game was like maybe you were a little easy on it because this happened and this they kind of tell a few stories that the scarred

them and then to think back about like angry people that were angry about that review that we're defending this game that even the people that worked on it were like, no, no, this is we got away with it on this one good thing. These guys on this message board really like us because that happens all the time. Yeah, you even hear stories like that about games that came out and were universally praised. Sure, yeah seeple the best games

of the year. Like you'll hear their developers say like, we were really sweating that, right, We didn't know, We had no idea if that was any good or not. Like some questionable decisions happen at the very end there. And yeah, that's over the last five or six years, I feel like I've learned more about how games are made than I have over any time I've had before. That totally. And it's that thing where it's like

it's amazing that anything ever comes out because everything is always on fire. Everything is a nightmare. Like, yeah, that's the most assfiying revelation for me. Is somebody who has to put a stamp on the quality of a game. Is that most of the people that make games seem to be very realistic

about the process of making games. You know. You do run into people here and there, though, Yeah, that will you angry letters about how you have taken food off their table with your review of their game, which is always very crazy and very detached from reality, but interesting nonetheless. But yeah, by large, it seems like, you know, by the time something is actually coming out, most of the people who are working on it are way more aware than a reviewer is about any issues a game may have.

Yeah, and I can tell you after being on that side, you know, you know where the problems are, and you just want the reviewer to give it a fair shake, like you want to him to understand or her your side of the story. No, this is like you you you want them. Yeah, I guess well, you can't necessarily go that far because from a purely consumer oriented point of view, all that matters is what's in the box, you know, and what somebody who sixty is going to

see. Yeah, I'm not I'm not saying they need to understand like where the game came from, but like, okay, they understand what we were trying to do, and yes it doesn't work. They are blasting it for very fair reasons. You just wanted to be fair. I guess yeah, like they're I've definitely seen some people out there, some developers out there, and say, like, you know, it's reviewers should really know what it

takes to make a game, and that is one hundred percent wrong. Like I honestly feel like I know a little too much about how games are made. I wish I knew less. Well whatever, if I was going to be reviewing games constantly, if that was still my thing full time, I would not talk to game developers because you don't want to know. No, it doesn't matter if you're recommending games to consumers, Like those are interesting stories, they have their place, But when it comes to saying, hey,

is this game any good or not, they're intent barely matters. It's what is in the box? Does it work? Is it functional? Is it fun? Does it look good? Is it too much? Is it on fire? It's how many times did it crash? I want to know. I want the inserts, no more manuals, how many pas does it have? No more epilepsy warnings? I want to know the budget, how long you had, how many people were on your team, and the names of all the production babies. Well we get those at the credits. This just

starts the credits with the budget and the time. It's just like how many people turned over? What was your contractor rate? Like how many dinners did we feed the team on the way through crunch? That just raw numbers, just meant did you hit your milestones? Did you hit your first you know original? Is the GM of your studio a piece of garbage? Yeah, that's just it. You just see it's just you look at surveys from everyone in the credits. You can click on their name and see the survey.

Did you think the GM was terrible? Did someone from the corporate parent come in and fuck your ship up at the last possible minute? Were you shipping on a console that wasn't finished yet? There'd be fantastic and credit buffer. I would watch credits that's like wow, huh, like you finished the game or your opinions already done, and then just get this in. Check this out, check this out? Did you like it? Wow? Wow?

Thanks ship. Here's some screenshot twelve hours before we lock the issues one one lost still under and then see like the end is just the bug list that was like at the end of everything. Yeah, that's actually that everything that got waved at the last minute. And then like people's comments on it, like yeah, fuck, that's fucked up. Could not reproduce. Did you find this in there somewhere? I don't know. We'll ship it out of

these people and someone will find it. Hopefully they won't, I don't know. Just audio logs that are actually meetings from the game's develop Like it's like the Valve developer commentary mode, but piped into like BioShock styled audio logs. You find them around the world, and it's just like, did you know if you stand here for eight minutes looking out this window, the game eventually crash this like one that's just like I knew somebody was gonna find a way

to get up here. I knew it. You're probably stuck. You fell through the world. But now you can listen to me. Let me tell you about my dead audiology auologus bugs in my cue. I don't know how any of them, this is one of them. The thing you're experiencing right now. I've been staring at this code for four months fucking straight. I didn't know it in and out, but I don't know any of it anymore.

We have to just ship it now, and when it'll go out there and it's fucked, but it leads to people will find and reproduce the parts that are fucked because I can't fucking see it anymore. So great, and then we'll be able to fix it. I don't know. I know the code reaches this line somehow, but I don't know how to stop it. Yeah, but when it hits here, it's going to trigger this audiologue, right, I'm sorry, right, and right before the game crashes, it

will say I'm very sorry, so, and then it'll hang. It'll save your game right here. That'd be great, like just a little error trap. It's like quick save game development. Yeah, I don't know how stuff gets done. I don't know either. It's it sounds ridiculous. It's insane.

At least, it's insane at large companies. It's insane at small companies like the you know, there are risks associated with either path, like there's you know, it's it's fun to hear all the you know, the kind of small team indie stories about like people just like I put my life savings into this project and it paid off, and now I'm a millionaire. And then I went crazy, you know, like whatever, Like that stuff's super

interesting. But I've heard plenty of great stories about huge games too, But like it's the only thing like movies, And like movies, I used to think the same thing, Like I'm I'm amazed at any big budget movie ever gets me. There's just so much stuff involved. But at the end of the day, it's a it's a render out, it's compact, and it is what it is for every person that experiences. Right, It's like you send that that movie. No matter where you watch it, you're gonna get

the same experience. With the game that's interactive, there's people just trying to

fuck like me, just trying to break that shit constantly. Yeah, just on my weird machine on my computer, Yeah, exactly, and throw it on a PC where you deal with a million different configurations, deal with consoles where they may have have the hardware in such a way that like, oh, our game ran fine on the first revision, and then this weird little thing that we did that no other game does just for whatever reason, it doesn't work on rif seven of the fucking Xboxies. Its fuck great. Yeah,

I don't know any yeah, yep, weird. So what was the question, right, yes, yeah, yeah, totally yeah. No, I don't think. I don't think Chris Tilton's career was harmed by doing the music for sim City, right, But I don't know. I'm not his agent yet. Well, I guess that's gonna do it for the podcast for this week. That whole Sony keynote sure was well whatever it cs like, they're obviously going to talk about their four KTVs Brad anything new coming out of

it. I don't see anybody else saying no. They just put out that press release they said, here are here are companies that are making boxes. No other stats about the boxes. Do we have any extra PCs around here that we could throw SteamOS on? We should get that old gay way that we is to use for stuff. I didn't use that. Yeah, yeah, we should look and see if what respects of that are. Let's let's

see if it. You can't so, I guess you can't dual boot it right now with the version of the of the s they have out right now, it doesn't dual boots. You have to you have to take over a whole machine with its it with the steam. I do have a brand new it's one hundred and twenty gig about I d E drive. We got mixed in with one of our like four terabyte stage throw that in there. Yeah, so just screamings isn't at least like super fast? No, I don't

think so. I feel like I feel like this. I'm sorry to interrupt it. I feel like this tweet from Will Smith pretty much sums up CS. Let's hear it. We aren't doing the nightly live shows this year. Our hotel bandwidth sucks, but there isn't much worth talking about anyway, all right, CE twenty fourteen complaining about CS is the new CS. At some points, stop going whatever I would have gone. I hope they flew this

year. Yeah, yeah, Well, if they're not doing the live show then I don't have to bring gear, then they probably don't have to drive. In fact, I'm pretty sure they flew. That's good now that I think about it, that I remember seeing them talking about airports. They really enjoyed that van trip. Yeah, totally like a good really proud of the video I made. Yeah, totally, it was great fun that was a fun one to do. I love road trips. We should I should force

you guys to drive with me to E three next year. I mean this year. This year, let's drive to Japan. Okay, ye're still driving those any three anymore? The threason, like five six six months still in La Yeah, I think. So, yeah, what are they gonna show? Well, they're gonna show. I don't know. You tell me what are they gonna show? Give me your your your prediction for twenty fourteen. As we're getting the year out of the way before anything gets announced, this

is the time to do it. So. Uh, Nintendo has a new peripheral Okay, you're gonna love it, am I. Is it a vitality sensor? Nope, can attract my heart rate? Yes, it's not a tele censor. Uh. Fitness is gonna be big again on all the platforms. I think they're gonna everybody's gonna fitbits are gonna interface with xboxes and you know all that stuff, and and that's gonna be a big thing. Okay, let's see QR codes are huge, Like game wise, you're gonna be

You're gonna have your two new ips from Microsoft. I saw, I saw major Nelson tonight tweet a code from actually Curse of Brotherhood and it was QR code. Nice app it's happening, It's happening. QR codes are finally well whatever. At least it got them to use that stop using that stupid Microsoft tag reader thing. Yeah. I don't know what the big thing is going to be time new time Splitters fucking video games. I hope I hope so

Too announced some goddamn games. I watched some Japanese wrestling over the weekend, like pro wrestling, Yes, professional wrestling live via the internet, not pay per view live from Japan. Wow. And there was a tag team called Time Splitters. Nice and they came out in a DeLorean, actual an actual del Yeah, and one of them was wearing a Marty McFly vest. How did they get the DeLorean in the ring. They didn't drive it to the ring. They drove it out to the entrance ramp or whatever and then walked

down from there. Did have a mister fusion, No, it was just a stock DeLorean like kind of den it up. They had overhead shot and you could see like it's had some finder binds in there. The driving it or they drove it in and it got out running. Yeah. Ok, yeah, huh yeah. So that's that for me, is the first clear sign that there's going to be a new time Splitters. Yeah yeah yeah. Bradney predictions, I mean, like I said, I just well hope games.

Yeah, it's not so much a prediction as a desire. We're just you know, like, fucking where's Fallout four? You know, we're stuff like that. Yeah, we're are games to get excited about. I think Fallout four will come out this year because there's not Yeah, I hope so, because there's not a whole lot else. I mean, you know, I really want to play Infamous. I know a lot of people are super stoked about Titan Fall. Well I have it the big What else is there?

It's Half Life coming out this year. This is the year, I don't know, maybe fuck it? Yeah sure, yeah yeah, why not just stol Sure, I'm just gonna say that every January from here to the end of time. Yeah, this is the year fralf Life to come out. I'll eventually be right. No, I won't, No, because you lose like five fingers every time you're wrong. Like, wait, I only have ten I know, I want to take this back that gives you a full decade. No a shot, not a finger a year, five fingers

a year? Oh oh I'm sorry, yeah, no were I thought it was time thought the finger in January. I'm waiting that long fingers. Can you pick which which five they are? Yeah? Sure, like two pinkies and two ring fingers, yeah yeah, yeah sure, space amount. I don't like this conversation. This is just creepy. You can have four four yeah, I need these three. I need the thumb, four finger and middle fingers. Yeah, so I can shoot business guns all the time.

Yeah, ring finger and pinky just getting away. I'll get buyed, figure something out. Uh that would be. That would be make this year really fun. I just want to see the announcement. I just want to see how they do it. I want to see Twitter shut down. I want to see the Internet explode, and then I want to see that game come out, and then I want to see everybody be like, huh oh huh

h it's a mobi weird zombies. That's me. I didn't expect Gordon Freeman's first words to be pills here but well, or to have to pay for it, but weird. Yeah, that would be to me. Twenty fourteen would be very exciting if that happened, so well, the threat of it happening makes it exciting nonetheless, right, just like the last ten years. Yeah, I don't even care anymore. I don't remember where that kind of like every time people get all up on arms about where it's half like three,

I'm like, fucking but it's what do you talk for me? It's it's the last big thing, right, it's the last it's forever came outs are out. I guess, like what's suspended in the air right now? Like that that's kind of it that in the last guarding Yeah, and blizzards next thing, but like not even that, like that seems so nebulous and out there, But like this is a thing that is a parody, right, that is a joke at this point. They never said we're making half

Life three. It's a same they leave it off. It's been supposed to be a series. I mean there was a cliffhanger. Yeah, it's episodic, but whatever, they're coming out every year, like a Half Life two episode three is due, but a half Life three is not sure what a new half Life I think they know how fucking outstanding would it be if they waited this long and then put out something that was Half Life two episodes three, that would be great. Just like it's this four hour thing. You

wouldn't Alex on an old engine that would be great. That would be fantastic. And he plays Alex and he's just not even Gordon, right, Yeah, Cord gets smoked like five minutes in or it's like this is are passed out, it's a flashback. Yeah, yeah, I would be great.

Sure, why not new Portal? Yeah? No, yeah, I'm not that excited either, Like, yeah, like even the the basic assumption that like Left for Dead three is something they're actively working on, like that doesn't well would I'm the wrong person for that anyway, But I mean that seems more likely than the other stuff. But still, like I mean, like for me, Valve is in is it in a particular spot where I feel like they have the freedom to experiment and do a lot of weird things with

with games. C Clint Hawking is not longer a Valve. Yes, it's kind of weird. He he was there like less than a year, no couple years or something. But I don't know, fouls making all the game I need right now? Do you think I'll think twenty fourteen will be deep? Like seriously, Well, yeah, I did almost nothing but that the second week of the break. But uh, I mean I want to see stuff from other companies, you know. Do you think I want to see

justifications for these new consoles? Sure? Yeah, from all like a zillion other developers. Do you think another realm will put a game out? They're usually on a two year cycle, and Justice came out last year, so pretty good reason for their not to be a Mortal Kombat. I don't this year. But at the same time, I kind of feel like, now is the time for a new Mortal Kombat? Is it? Maybe that's just me. I have no idea what a new Mortal Kombat is. Yeah.

Same. They kind of burned through all of their capital with the last one. It's that Mobo right, like, like you know, they captured all three of the games that you remember fondly. I think they just got to go off on their own direction and make new characters and just you know, make a sequel to that game as if the other games didn't exist. Sure, that's probably the way to do that. I mean, no, chinak no, they've already I think they've already mentioned was in the new one.

Yeah, well where that motherfucker is, Shanak is sure to follow. I think they do specifically reference Shinak in in this in that last one. I could be wrong, but I seem to remember that being there. Uh what else? What other teams are there? What other studios? I mean? I think? I mean, you know, Uncharted has already been announced, but you know that doesn't mean that Naughty Dog isn't also working on something else. But that wouldn't happen this year. But if like last year, is

any indication it's the smaller indie you know, yeah, totally. Stuff that's going to be games that you haven't heard about yet, games that haven't even been conceived yet. Let's make it out in November totally. You know, something like a No Man Sky that just comes out of nowhere, damn, and then you see it and you're like, funk I want that? But man, I'm trying to think, Yeah, fall Out makes a lot of

sense. I mean, it's time, like they typically take like three years, and it's been this holiday will have been three years in skyriom right, right, So yeah, even if you know, if if by some weird uh, like Twist of Fate, it's not fall Out and it's something else. Well, what about ever? It is like they're they're due for a game sky Room Online. What about Oh that's a totally different team, different everything, the company's different quality of products, a different quality of product.

Is that coming out this year? Sure? Think so? Yeah? All right? Yeah? Fuck I don't. I don't know. No, no like studio or developer like springs directly to mind when I say I don't want to see new games. But how I met Mirror's Edge too. I bet with Battlefield being so fucked that probably derailed any work at Dice it was happening on anything else. Yeah, I bet that's true, because they suspended like

they're they're they're out there saying like we suspended development all the DLC. So you'd like to think that they, you know, anyone that would have been working on Mirror's Edge pre production or wherever that is. I bet that. I bet that doesn't happen this year. Yeah, they you know, they really played the fire on that thing. You know, they're on the verge of shareholder revolt over the state of that game, Like they got to get

their act together. I hope we don't see as much uh consolidation as we did last year, with everything kind of converging into one mega studio buying up you know, students, smaller teams going out of business, bigger teams getting soaked up. I like the diversity. I mean, I don't don't think we'll see a lot of it because I don't know if there's a lot of it left. Yeah, you know, Uh, maybe smaller teams will get bigger, smaller studios will get bigger and grow, and I don't know.

Yeah, I don't know either. It's it just seems like, you know, there's EA Activision like Microsoft and like Sony Nintendo. You'd be soft. They's huge. Well, like they make the properties they make right and then like they lean on those for a while. Yeah, which, you know, let's diversity flourish in the lower tier of indie stuff. But like you know, yeah, UB seems like kind of a known quantity. Yeah, and a lot of their stuff people see in the town Clancy Movie Company.

Yeah, yeah, yeah they are. I think they've already. There was some studio profile of the Splinter Cell Studio saying, yep, take another one. Got that Black Rocks studio. Yeah, they're doing some first party Microsoft thing. The heck is it or black black black Tusk studio they like found it or whatever. I don't like there's there have been a lot of people going like, oh, I really want to know what they're working on, Like do they have a pedigree? I don't know, are there are the

people they're running it from something? That's the thing they implied that was the case. Okay, I don't know anything about it. That's just it seemed like that was getting an undue level of interest considering it's just so mysterious. I think that's why. Yeah, when's Fantasia come out? I don't know, is it this year? I thought that was that was launching, Like, I had no idea it was never launched. But yeah, that's yeah. I'd be curious to see what those guys do next. Ye, Like,

is that is the rhythm genre kind of gone? Do you have to move on? Do you reinvent it? Like other plastic instruments? Well that's I think the reality is that I don't think retailers would take plastic instruments again too much. Shelf space learn that lesson, I do, motherfucker, God damn it. This is my this is my DOTA moment. Then with you then, because I do not understand the fuck what are you talking about? You have had plenty of good times with the rock band franchise, don't pretend.

Yeah, I'm kind of with Brad. I'm just I'm over. I recognize that it's awesome. I to play it right now, but I just don't want. I would because I don't want to leave those consoles set up. But do you need new instruments? You just need that poured it up to Yeah, you know, just bring everything up and you can. Subscription service music's, yes, a Spotify for rock bands, where you are just getting access to like, change that business model to be more like that instead

of selling individual songs. Actually, considering how much artists tend to not like Spotify, I bet that wouldn't work at all, but at least not at a reasonable price. But god damn it, that'd be great. I mean also for me. I mean maybe it's just that I've gotten to the point where most of the people I know we're married with kids. But I just don't see myself like drunkenly convenient with people to play this. I don't. I guess anymore. Yes, I'm not in this situation to fully enjoy rock

band as much as as I used to be. Though last year I did play it a few times on the We Know Less because a friend of mine that she had the version. This is ridiculous though, totally. Yeah, I mean yes, in a lot of ways, my problems could be solved by just hooking up at three sixty and playing rock band three. It's a better karaoke, it's a it's a more, it's funding good for a group, it's yeah, people who are like scared of singing still have something they

can do. My big idea was I wanted to get like the fancy drum, the ion, yeah, and then try to learn how to play the drums like that was like two months ago or a month ago. I was like, man, I should try. I don't know, probably not, but so yeah, so you'd probably get one that was like beat of shit, like yeah, I don't know, maybe that maybe that's not realistic or something, but yeah, rock band was pretty awesome. I wish they would

make more of it. I don't Yeah, I don't know what that studio does if they come up with ideas for rhythm games that are like because at the same time, like rhythm games without instruments, that dried up when the instrument games came along, so I don't know that you can really go back to that. Like rock Band Blitz was a neat idea at air Goodhart with connect so as rock Band Unplugged for the PlayStation port will develop a backbot entertainment.

Still remember getting my first demo of rock Band Unplugged for the PSP in the middle of my living room. Alex Navarro out on a trip, so yeah, all right, yeah you want you want to see it, like he was out showing it to print. So technically, as an online outlet, we weren't supposed to be like, yeah, show it to him, you know what. I hooked it up plaated like one song went yeah, okay, I think of it. I also got a demo of a harmonics

game in my living room. It was Beatles, but that was because because we didn't have Alito Yeah that's right, and they didn't have time to come up there or something. So Sean Baptiste like like slept the giant case of Beetles, stuff of instruments and stuff to my apartment in San Francisco, showed me the game in my house. Beatles the Rockman Beetles. It was Beatles. Yeah, what a production. Yeah that was Yeah. Those fuckers had

like Beetles at the Microsoft press conference. Crazy and you know it came out the same day as they're like giant remastered full catalog. Yeah. That game made me appreciate the Beatles, which I did not go up until that point, like hearing the individual parts of the songs and stuff like that, like these songs are well written, interesting parts. It did a lot for music for me. Think Tony Hawk will come back, no, yea, yeah

I will. I would love to think that, Like, you know, someone would would come along and put out an amazing fucking skateboarding game, an amazing one. I mean Skate's done, yeah, well, I mean for yeah, yes, the skate team is working on that. Plans for his Zombies shooter. Uh the you know, never Soft is making Call of Duty

maps or whatever other call of duty stuff. Uh. Yes, I would love for someone to roll back in and say, like, we are making a super fucking serious, brand new Tony Hawk game that is sort of like the old Tony Hawk games, but fucking way crazier because the technology is so much more advanced. And we're not talking about Nail the trick or Nail the grab. I think everything. Just take all the franchises. There's an easy solution, okay, fanchise and fast forward like five hundred years. Okay,

So it's Tony Hawk in like twenty five fourteen. Yeah, but he's still skateboarding. He's like like a video game company needs to have like a equivalent of like a summer event, like Comic book style, where it's like it's Tony Hawk twenty ninety nine and Call of Duty twenty ninety nine. Like there's Tony Hawk. He's like a town and there's a little revival. Tony Hawk is a town. Tony Hawk is like a town, and he turns into like a robot. Town turns into a giant robot. He's a metroplex on

a skateboard. Yes, skating like grinding on the Golden gate Bridge towards the end of the game obviously, but yeah, you know the hoverboards and all that stuff you can have set in Level Lord style levels that grow over time. Skateboarding on the rings, yes, so you start out just like you're really tiny skateboarding in this huge environment. But as you shred, you get bigger, you get bigger. Yes, dude, just forget about shredding on

the Golden Gate. You're shredding the Golden Gate is your skateboard. Yeah, okay, you're just using that shred across the world, tread across the world. There's the name Patton Pennick. It's easy, You're easy. Yeah, video games are easy. I don't know. All these people are talking about it like, oh, it's so hard to make like whatever, which made like five good ones. Yeah, so as the soundtrack doesn't suck, well that's yeah, I don't figure out. We'll get that police truck song.

It'll be fine. All right, that's gonna do it, Drew. You gotta need predictions for the year, anything before we wrap it up. I asked these other men do Yeah, what's the future of flight sims? Hold yeah, Mars Mars? All right, all right, I get out that they did that with that Mars rover, didn't they That game's gonna come out. That was early access star forwards in that game. All the early access stuff is gonna twenty fourteen is all gonna be great. Everything single game is

gonna be fantastic. It all be good. It's all gonna get finished. Yep, this game is done. It's all gonna come out. Yay. Double Fun Adventure is gonna come out. No, it is. Don't be crazy. I mean you know they've said it's gonna happen. All the promise of twenty thirteen pays off in twenty fourteen. That's what the whole dogs will come out at some point. All this stuff was thrown up in the air paid for. Yeah, let's not be crazy. Yeah, twenty fourteen has

got a lot has banks, a lot of citizens. Yeah, come out, Oculus rifts, stuff like Baden Yeah, proper too proper rift or proper or something. Yeah, there's a huge credit line that twenty thirteen took out. They brought a lot of checks. Yeah, the twenty thirteen could not cash. Well, they will have to see it comes. They left a lot of fourteen for the next generation. I have to go through my early access stuff and audit and check in, dude, Like what the hell is

come due? Like what I know? I have at least like ten games that right like sitting there that I forgot about I have. They have these chances. Yeah, I want to go look at Audio Surf two again that's been I have not checked in on that in a while, so yeah, that's coming along. Kickstarter a kickstart me checking out my early access games.
