Episode four, Beneath the Surface, The direct supernatural route following the trail of the manufactured menace led Emier and I to a dead end. However, we had a very tangible lead remaining, Abraham Johnstone, the name the creature had attempted to extract from Eendicotte the bleakness of the fact they shared a name. Not even that coincidence had been enough to spark permanence in Endicotte's mind over the death of the boy. You'd think you'd see a name across the desk,

hear a report from a format. Oh, that name is my name, and it might stick. But no. The only thing the man paused to consider was that the boy died midday, and so there was half a day's wages that could be recouped. It was decided that we would pursue the name, no replacement for the proper detective work. However, reports came in the very next day that there had been yet another death at the mill owned by

Endicotte, and so we divided forces. Von Sid and Ida would inquire with this new corpse, while Ema, Havan and Faraday searched for the particular Johnstone family in question. The dead man was Billy Hardy. Two details made him stand out. First, rather than a line worker, he was a manager. And second, he hadn't fallen in during the course of operations. He

had gone back during the late night graveyard shift. The guard that let him in reported that he was alone and seemingly worse for drinking, but had overheard his raised argumentative voice shortly before he was silenced by death. No one had seen an eight foot tall mechanical abomination at the scene, but the targeting of mill management was a promising lead. I've asked Master Vans do share his aspect of the case with yes, perfect timing. I had just gotten to the

timber manager. I can still smell the pines in the water, and now so can I thank you for sharing, not at all. I insisted you began cataloging, filling in the gaps as the least I can do so. Speaking of how goes it as advertise painful cathartic life on the wreck, I'd say a pressing board, yes, that's better. Each passing year, a new stone, some stones heavier and more jagged than others. I think I'll get everyone on the wax. It's proven invaluable with the reconstruction of the disaster.

All those clandestine recordings we found are actually quite useful. So I hear, I think I'll put the aspirants onto the wax when they arrive. If you're actually going through with it, I am Udyssium and Clara Lux. God's owen forgive me. But it does appear that things have been a tad lax around here, to our sorrow, yes of course, but yes, the mill manager, let me draw in the gap for you.
