Episode description

Matthew Lesko, often recognized by his colorful suits adorned with question marks, is an American author, entrepreneur, and self-styled "information guru" known for promoting access to government grants and financial resources. Born on May 11, 1943, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Lesko gained widespread attention in the 1990s through infomercials promoting his books, which guide readers on how to apply for grants, government loans, and other forms of free financial assistance.

Lesko holds an MBA from American University and began his career working for large corporations, but he shifted his focus to educating the public about government funding. His distinctive persona, marked by his energetic delivery and quirky wardrobe, made him a memorable figure in popular culture. Lesko claims his mission is to empower everyday people by helping them understand how to access government funds they may be unaware of.

He has written several books, including Free Money to Pay Your Bills and Free Money for Everybody. While some criticize him for oversimplifying or sensationalizing the grant application process, Lesko has defended his approach, saying his goal is to make complex information accessible.
