GTT at NAMM 2025: Austrian Audio Press Conference, OC-S10 Multipattern Dual Output Mic, DPA

my name is Martin Martin zidle I am the CEO of Austrian audio and I want to thank everybody for joining us today thanks for being here in that big quantity we have a lot of things to tell to talk about and to show you George the tech first of all obviously I'm standing in front behind and in front uh product we want to show it to you in more details so I would like to do a comparison obviously you know some pictures get painted to decorate a room some small pictures get painted to

decorate doors of special rooms ladies and men yeah and some pictures are painted to become masterpieces and go into museums some microphones are designed to become masterpieces and be in your Studios for ever and a day and we are very convinced that we have something to show to you today which is a masterpiece and we couldn't ask anybody less than Michelangelo to present it to you guys I don't dare to say the Finger of God is handing this microphone to you but probably if you test it you will

follow this idea so so we want to talk about this

microphone today it's one of our biggest releases of our highest end product we will show uh we are here to talk about a little bit about business and about things you might have heard you might have read about Austrian audio and ways we're going to go together uh let's start with the product let's start with the ocs1 OC as all our products refer to the open acoustic so open condenser to get the best free field experience to the microphone you can get and why is the S

this is a new abbreviation in our nomenclatura it's for solo it's for solo artists with vocal or instrument that will shine in your recording and with that I hand over to Philip Schuster who is father and product manager of this product would you please explain what it is thank you

Martin yeah um thank you for being here with us this morning um my name is Phillip um and I'm about to present to you the ocs1 uh our new flagship microphone a large condenser microphone based on our ckr R12 capsule um actually selected ck12 capsules we know we have very narrow tolerances on this capsule already but if you purchase this product you get the top 10% uh from this capsule and we have designed the whole microphone around this capsule so we uh have given the capsule more room in the

top of the microphone so that there are really no Reflections we've pushed the open condenser the open acoustic the uh to the Mac uh we have designed a whole new electronic for this microphone a very fast circuitry um mil grade components because uh we we're on very tight tolerances here and with this very fast and very decent electronic let's the OC the ck2 capsule shine even more um than before we have the usual filters uh on the microphones we have a pad filter uh

that brings the mic micophone up to a level of7 uh DB Max SPL so really you can even use it for loud wind instruments for example or even drums um you have a a hpus filter on the microphone and you have the polar patterns and all of these are adjustable by these Rings here I hope you can touch and feel it after the

press conference please get your hands on the microphone it's really uh I've heard this word several times uh already yesterday it's a satisfying feeling to turn this uh these Rings here um it's like a one of those photo cameras and actually it's no switches it's a a magnetic with a hall sensor uh inside so you don't wear out the switches if you like to play with this play with it as long as you like you will not ruin the cyc tree but this is only this is the

only mess digital component inside the whole audio part of the microphone is all an so we do this all analog and what we also have on the microphone is on the lower side we have a second output because um some of you know that we are also having plugins uh for your dhw and with the second output you can actually record the front and the back membrane separately and in post production desired which polar patter you want to use with our plugins you can even do

that by frequency so put it in Omni in the base frequencies for example play with a figure eight in the higher frequencies all that you can do uh please check them out we will have a new better uh available next week um on updated version of our plugins uh so yeah really great to work with and what I need to mention if you want to use the polar pattern selector on the microphone you obviously need to make sure that you plug in channel one because otherwise you would record the back capsule and

you don't want to do that unless you are into some strange effects so we have given it uh a little um uh lock on the lower side so you're not able to plug in channel two unless you have plugged in channel one so um I don't want to say foolproof I would say a a nice um method to avoid anim ises misuse uh and uh make it easier for us support hline um the whole microphone comes in this very nice suspension with this alost Parts here they are very sturdy but provide a

really good uh shock protection and on the back side you see here that we have a ball joint um built into the suspension so you can really bring the microphone in any position that you need uh especially yeah you you Martin does that now uh especially handy when you record microphone uh instruments and you need to fiddle the microphone in somewhere uh all easy to go without any additional hardier needs um also included with the microphone is our new pop filter and this is uh actually a

metal mesh so yeah so this is all metal uh nice thing about this is uh it has no frame it's self-supporting so you don't get any Reflections from the frame but it's also very transparent I don't know if you can see it but I can really see through it so it only blocks out the pop noises without altering uh The Voice itself so very nice and very easy to handle magnetically attached so it stays in this uh correct position every time um and yeah uh a very good um addition to

the product speaking about the product

product comes with the pp filter with the suspension and also this nice little box here uh in case you need to put it in a mic Locker uh then you have the microphone will have it in this box here where it's free supended not covered in foam but in this light nice little felt um covered wood rims um the whole thing will come in a box uh we are launching um the product here uh it will be available in the second quarter of this year um beginning of the second support

of this year and uh retail price is uh 2990 if I remember it correctly is$ 2999 I always keep forgetting them but uh roughly three grand um yeah if you have any questions please let me know uh get in touch with the product ask me anything uh I'm here all day and I'll hand it back to Martin for further information about our company thank you very much Philip so of course this is a rush through a product that you can talk about a day or longer so please feel free to test it to hear

it I mean of course in this environment it's not so easy but uh yeah all other products we have done in the last 5 years basically are on the booth uh to listen in now uh let me start with uh Monty Python and now to something completely

different um I know that a lot of you are here as well because we have launched some great news uh in the Press recently uh which is a next step for Trin AIO into even faster growth into even wider spread into different vertical markets and of course in a you know boundary Limitless uh developments for the future and how is this possible because uh as we are a young company we joined forces and I'm very very proud that we found a great partner to join forces with that's DPA DPA

microphones I don't have to even mention a word about their Heritage you know all what they're doing and what they're famous for so it's a company that understands what we're doing that we're always thriving for the best capsules microphone capsules in the world that we're driving for technology that we're driving for innovation in our industry and we don't have to explain to this partner what that means because they live and breathe that as well so it's great to have a partner that

understands our business and despite that we are not really overlapping in our product portfolio not at all so where we come from dual membran microphone pattern control large membranes two medium half inch ones our new partners go from half inch downwards to micro capsules and all these Technologies together plus adding some high class headphones to all of that portfolio your fantasies May trigger opportunities that come our way in the future I'm very happy to have the CEO

DPA Ki havit nson with me and I want to hand the microphone to him for a few words Ki thank you Martin thank you and um my name is k nson I'm representing DPA microphones and uh Martin and I have been friends for many many years and uh when this opportunity occurred I was really thrilled uh because I know aan audio what they stand for I know their culture about cosmod driven Innovation and their very very strong acoustical engineering competence uh I think you

have seen it with all the products they have brought forward and the speed of which they have brought products forward it's a it's a magnificent company they have been announced many times in the press as a rising star in our industry I believe that's very much true and I will try not to repeat uh what Martin said about the complimentarity of our products and our Technologies I really believe it's a strong partnership um it's um it's our it's our goal our our belief that the right thing is to

support a in audio to develop the identity and the products and the company uh on its own so that the aan a will continue of course under Martin's leadership developing as they have done quickly Rising uh there's of course many things we can do together there's a lot of complementarities but they're also overlapping things on the commercial side and on the techn side that we will start uh working on and I'm sure that that will help bring both DPA microphones and uh and also in order to

click but they said that these rings are just sensors they're not actually switches so since they're not actually switches there's no contacts to wear out so you turn these things it's a super satisfying click snap feel and then the thing that they said that was really clever was there is a lockout on the secondary XLR so if you plug your first XLR in the lockout pin retracts so you can plug in the second XLR so when you're in the studio working quickly or

maybe you hand the microphone to someone who's not a professional engineer they will not plug the wrong connector in by mistake state which is super user friendly really really beautiful design really beautiful design as you can see the head basket is super open there is a totally transparent head basket so this is about absolute minimal coloration clearly and then the pop screen that they showed you comes with it it's part of the package anyway there you go that's the next level from Austrian
