It's 2025, and you're listening to Geek This. So here we are. It's a new year, a new fresh start to do something with the podcast. And I'm sure that you all are like, yeah. We do this every single year. You guys always let us down. And just know that that's never our intention. And and I don't wanna start off negative, but, yeah, that's the reality of this situation. Now I'm making this because, things are changing a little bit for me and the way that my job works.
I'm I don't know if it's technically a promotion, but I'm definitely getting more added to my plate at work. And so now I'm going to be doing a lot of video for YouTube as part of my job, which is great. I'm excited to do it. I'm getting some gear sent to me, so that we can pull off a more professional look. And, yeah, I'm excited about that. And as part of that, really not taking advantage of the company and the stuff that they're they're purchasing to make YouTube content.
I want to I wanna bring the video element into Geek This because, you know, I'm I I'm a person who needs to practice. I need to do something over and over and over and over and over and over and over again to make sure that, I understand how it works. And so, there's gonna be some YouTube content that's gonna come out. I'm I'm currently trying to figure out exactly how to do it. I think a lot of it is probably gonna be quick reviews of things that I watched. Nothing super in-depth.
Just talking about a general, yeah, this is what I like. This is what I didn't like, maybe just a simple score, you know, a 1 out of 5, kind of thing, and and will adapt. It's really just a matter of figuring out my own skills as a video content creator and honing those. So that's kinda where we're at. David's work schedule is a little a little crazy right now, and it doesn't necessarily work for us to record something weekly
or or anything like that. So we're we're actually gonna talk and figure out how we can make this work. David suggested we do maybe a couple of episodes, and that would also include some video elements. The setup would be different though because, one of us would have to travel. It's possible that we could both come here and and do video stuff. We'll see. We'll we'll play around with stuff. But I just wanted to drop this episode into the feed a little bit and or god. Drop it in just a little
bit. No. I wanted to drop things into the feed so that you guys were updated. I'm also using, a new tool to record. It is Adobe Podcast. I I stopped paying for an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription because, it was hella expensive, and I wasn't making money doing it. Adobe podcast, however, might be something a little bit more manageable because David and I have been looking for a cheaper option to record remotely that,
you know, can benefit both of us. I have a more, I have a better setup to record than he does because I've been doing this for 12 years. So I've acquired a lot of gear, and David doesn't quite have all that. So
we're we're still gonna make this work. He also doesn't have any dedicated space to record in that is free from echo, and that's something that I'm gonna be playing with because this Adobe podcast, setup is they have an enhanced speech feature, so it's supposed to cut down on, like, outside noise and things like that. You may or may not notice it with my audio solely because I'm I'm kind of isolated. I don't have a lot of background noise. I I do
hear a dog barking. You guys may or may not be able to hear that, but that is, you know, that's part of the job, and I don't care. It kinda adds ambiance for for myself. Anyway, I'm babbling 5 minutes in. So look for, our Geek This YouTube channel. I will link it in the show notes for this little mini episode, and I would love to actually hear what kind of content you would be interested in seeing us make.
Like I said, it'll probably be just solo, like, quick reviews for myself just to get used to talking to a camera instead of talking to nobody in, in a microphone. So there's that. We may end up doing some live stream stuff. Again, I'm just kinda playing with things, see what works, see what doesn't work, and, yeah, just hone my skills. So I would love any feedback that you have.
Fingers crossed that David's schedule doesn't keep changing and that we can actually make this thing something that can do we can do regularly because, man, I would love to just be able to do it regularly, because I miss talking to my dude. And, you know, we tend to watch things and don't get the chance to talk about them, and this is kind of a good excuse to do this. So, that said, we're done. I'm gonna hang up the the I was gonna say the phone, but I'm
not talking on a phone. I'm gonna shut things down, and I will talk to you guys very soon. Please subscribe to the YouTube channel. We'll have content coming out, once I get my gear from work and once we get it set up and make it look nice and pretty and all that. So, thanks so much for listening. I will talk to you guys later.
