Before this episode starts, I just wanted to let you know that the first several episodes that we record are essentially just shaking off rust as we get back into recording the show, which, yes, we are actually doing it this time. We've got a couple of recordings under our belts and we've got a schedule, so stick with us. Hang in there with the audio. It's not the worst, but it's going to get better, I promise. Enjoy the episode, and please leave us some feedback. That'd be so, so cool.
I guess I can, I got, I gotta remember how, how do we introduce the show? Well, we can, we can make a brand new one. This is version 8.0. . Right, right. I figured we could, um, you know, talk a little bit about like, what we've been up to, uh, like, and then like you were talking about what we've been geeking and then, uh, some ideas of like what we have in mind for the podcast going into the future. Uh, the big thing is we're back. Yes. To all of our four listeners.
. Right. I'm sure there have been a lot of people that have jumped off. I still see that people download the show, so that's nice. Um, so thanks to those handful of people, but, you know, nothing major, but, uh, yeah. Welcome to Geek This. It's a podcast where we just talk about the stuff that we're geeking out about, and largely entertainment based stuff, movies, TV shows, probably dabble in some video games,
just kind of whatever we're thinking of at the time. Uh, as the show goes on, we'll get into a better routine of how to talk to each other and to you, the audience. And, uh, yeah, we're excited to be back. This has been very long in the making. Uh, my name is Dave Clements and I started Geek This back in 2012, so this is 11 years going on, and with me is my best buddy. David Hunt. Hey, everybody. Long time No. Here talk. Listen. All of the above. All. Of the above.
Yeah. Because, uh, you have not been on any podcasts recently, right? Oh, not in quite a while. I, well, we recorded, uh, one episode of a, uh, failed start for, um, . Uh, it doesn't even matter what it was called because we didn't, we, we recorded one episode. But anyway, we, we recorded something and, um, and now we're, we're really back. For sure. For sure. For sure.
The internet has changed things for the better. Uh, I will say this might be one of the better things that came from covid just because, uh, just it feels to me like remote connection, you know, V O I P and Zoom, things like that. Like have really helped people communicate better. And I think that that was always our problem just to kind of give everybody who, as an older listener, a a peek behind the curtain as to like,
what the heck went wrong. Like you and I weren't fighting, it was just simply we could not figure out how to get together in the same location to record. Yeah. You know, uh, distance and, uh, scheduling. And it just, it was not working. And then, uh, I, I have two kids now, and your kids are getting older and. Mm-hmm. . But, but you know, we're, we're really jumping back into it this time. We, we miss talking to each other and we miss talking geeky things.
Yeah. I, every time we see each other, there's always this conversation that starts about, Hey, have you watched this? Have you seen this? Uh, and then it's typically cut off by just other people that are there. 'cause it's rarely just you and I hanging out. Uh, kids. Some sometimes get in the way. Uh, I think the only thing we actually do together at this point is we eat at least one meal together mm-hmm. And play at least one game. And we might do that, what, every six months? It feels like.
Maybe a little more often than that, but, um, it feels like six months. Yeah. I've seen you more over the last like, year and a half than I have in the last four years, it feels like. Well, I mean, COVID Covid and us having, uh, like we had our, uh, boy Ezra in 2020 mm-hmm. . So when you combine both of those and then having a baby during Covid Right. You know, it kind of puts a hamper on, uh, seeing people. That's why we're gonna do this and things are gonna change.
We're gonna probably do a lot of remote recording of the episode. Whether that matters to anybody listening or not, that's the way that it's gonna work. We'll probably do some in-person things. Uh, I would love for us to go see a movie and just talk about it on the way to where from the theater, something like that. Just spice it up. Yeah. It'll mainly be just the two of us, but I'm sure occasionally we might have a special guest.
I think that was always one of my favorite things about the show was being able to bring on friends that enjoyed the stuff that we were talking about. I think it, for me, I don't know about you, but for me, I felt like it opened up my entertainment options a lot. Mm-hmm. , uh, we got, we got Mike on the show, shout out to BoomStick Video Club podcast, and that was kind of when I started dipping into like, horror movies and things like that.
That was all closed off to me before I started hanging out with Mike and had him on the show. I think Krampus was kind of the big one where I was like, Mike's here, I'm gonna watch this. And it just opened the door. Yeah. So this episode, we're just gonna kind of chitchat about what we've been up to, which we kind of covered kind of just been busy living life.
I've been doing a lot with another podcast called Playing Games with Strangers that is getting ready to start its second campaign, if you like, d and d and role playing and audio dramas, that that's what that podcast is for. But that's largely what I've been doing outside of my normal nine to five job. I've been, I've been watching some television, uh, you know, I, uh, just finished a Soca, uh, reservation,
dogs Only Murders in the building. What we do in the Shadows, like all these shows are like ending mm-hmm. right around the same time. So I'm about ready to have a lot of open time in my, in my schedule to, uh, watch stuff for the podcast, for us to dip our toes into some back catalog things. And one thing that we've talked about doing is sort of a, a segment, um, of the podcast, if you will. I, I would almost say we're gonna have a podcast inside of a podcast.
Pretty much. Yeah. We're. Gonna have something called, uh, now this is Franchising where we, uh, talk about, you know, uh, different franchises, um, major franchises, you know, between films and TV and, and, uh, some toys and video games, you know, all of the above. You know, we did our Batman and Film, which is sort of sort of where we came up with the ideas. Like, we really enjoyed doing those way back in the day at this point. Mm-hmm. . Yeah. It was like 2014, I think. Long time.
We were doing those. Long, but those were probably our biggest episodes of Geek This. So, uh, we for sure kind of want to take that and take a spin on it. Um, I know we've talked about doing one on Spider-Man because Spider-Man is huge right now with the second inch of the Spider verse. The, um, was it across the Spider verse? Yep. And that just came out, uh, recently. And then the new Spider-Man video game is about ready to come out and it's Yeah.
Seems like a good time to do that. Uh, we've also talked about maybe doing a weekly or semi-weekly Loki coverage. Yeah. I think we, we talked about covering all of season one in one episode, and then, you know, splitting season two out, you know, over a few episodes across the course of the season. Uh, just, I think our big thing is to not overload our plates. Mm-hmm. ,
that was always a big thing. Like, we have these huge plans to do stuff, and then it was like, oh, we have to put out a weekly show and we don't have to. That's the cool thing about podcast. So, yeah. I, I will, I will just say it right now. So everybody knows David has been like, burning his brain, coming up with some really great ideas for what we're gonna do in the show. I think it's been really cool to have these conversations with you behind the
scenes where it's like, Hey, what if we do this? What if we do that? And I'm like, I love all of this stuff. Would. You like to do, Dave? I would love, and this was actually something that was talked about not too long ago, but as part of this, like, now this is franchising segment or mini series or whatever we want to officially call that. I wanna be able to touch on horror movies a little bit more. Like, it's October right now, and that's like an obvious, oh, well, yeah. Duh.
Halloween's coming up. We gotta talk about scary stuff. We're not a real podcast if we don't. Um, but I think lately, like, not so much that I'm like super into horror, but I essentially binge watched all of the SAW movies, uh, I haven't seen Saw X yet. And, um, then we've also talked about, uh, the IT movies, which I covered by myself, uh, back in like 2017 whenever the, the new remakes were coming out. I did that by myself.
But I think, I think I miss the conversations, just the camaraderie and being able to go, yeah, did you see this thing in this movie? And then we just have conversations. I miss what we used to have. So yeah, I don't think there's really any specific topics other than like, those two things have come up and I'm like, it would be fun to talk about those if we can. We could have like, some sort of like seasonal segment where like, like right now is like Halloween time.
We could talk about some horror movies mm-hmm. . And then, um, around Thanksgiving we could talk about whatever Thanksgiving movies there are, there's like three. I was gonna say. There, there's very, very small, like, not even a handful, it's like a palm full of Thanksgiving movies. And, uh, and of course then there's Christmas, which has like mm-hmm. a bajillion movies. And we could even do bad movie review thing where we talk about a cheesy Hallmark Christmas movie. Oh.
Yeah, that would be great. See, David's got ideas. I'm like, I don't care. I just won't talk about things. So, uh, I am really excited and I don't know if anybody else listening is excited, is as excited as I am. Well, I'm sure John's excited for us to come back. He better be 'cause uh, he. He's probably the only one listening right now. Probably. But. That's, we might have one or two holdouts there, but someone that, that never unsubscribed to our feed and all of a sudden, whoa.
What, what, what's this ? Yeah. Yeah. Um, I was actually funny. So I was, I'm always like messing with artwork and stuff like that, and I updated the geek, this artwork on our Facebook page. I'll get around to whatever other platforms we're on, but Facebook is just kind of easy. And, uh, probably an hour or two hours later I get this message from John that's like, Hey, Dave, are you just like, are you teasing me? Are you guys actually gonna do something this time, ? And I was like,
actually, we're recording tonight, so we're doing something. But yeah, I thought that was funny. So I'm sure people are tired of hearing about what we're gonna do. Um, let's talk about what we've actually been doing. You listed a bunch of shows that you just finished watching. I don't know, can you like, summarize kind of your feelings of each of those shows Without spoilers, because I haven't finished only murders. I had a very tired wife last night who was not ready to watch that episode.
Okay. Um, well, since you brought up Only Murders, we can sort of talk about that up to where you've seen, um. Right. I've seen, I've seen up to episode nine. Yeah. I've seen up through nine. Yeah. Okay. So if, if you're listening to this, you know, there might be some slight, I'll try not to do anything too spoil or heavy. 'cause I don't want people to be like, oh, that's who the killer is. I haven't watched anything. I've really enjoyed this season. What about you? I.
Was nervous because I was not a huge fan of season two. Mm-hmm. , it was okay. But, uh, this season has, it's redeemed itself, and I just saw that they're getting greenlit for season four. So I'm looking forward to season four. Paul Rudd was great in the episodes that he was in. And Metal, they hate him. Meryl Streep, you know, she's mm-hmm. fantastic. And, uh, yeah, a little bit of a spoiler. Like, there is, there,
there's musical parts to this season mm-hmm. . Um, and I think today actually they released like, the album for, for the musical. So. Cool. And like, I just, there's a song that Meryl Streep does and like, I just wanna like, listen to it. Like it's a legitimately good song. . Yeah. Yeah. I think she performs that one in episode nine. I think it's the same one, maybe. Yeah, I think so. Yeah. Speaking of the songs, Steve Martin kills it with his patter song. Yeah. Which is, uh,
just a great bit in the whole season. Uh, it makes me chuckle every time I think about it. And every once in a while I'll like, walk into a room and I'll hear Wendy trying to do it. . What, what, what else have you been watching? Uh, what have we been, I've watched a lot of YouTube videos. Um. Are you a talker? Yeah, we do that as a family. I always throw TikTok up on the TV from my phone and just like, slide through things and bunch of stupid stuff.
But YouTube is not so much stupid stuff. Like, we watch, uh, good Mythical Morning every day. And I've really been getting into like, competitive eating videos. There's one particular YouTube guy out there goes by Beard Meats, like as in like M E A T S, beard Meats food. He is from Leeds, England. And I don't know, he's, he's got this massive beard, but there's just something about his personality that I love, and I've gotten to the point where I can look at a dish and go, yep, you got it.
Or, Nope, not gonna make that one. But, um, I've also been getting into like, iceberg videos. Have you ever seen an Iceberg video before? Nope. I, I don't even know what you're talking about. So this might actually be something that would be fun to do. An actual iceberg is you, you're only seeing the top of it. The, the secret about them is they're usually a lot bigger and whatnot under the water. So the way that it generally works is they break an iceberg of like, let's say, Nickelodeon down.
And what you can see above the water, so to speak, is the stuff that you probably know about. Like, when it started, and some of the first shows were just a little trivia about Nickelodeon. But as it gets lower and lower, deeper and deeper, it gets darker more disturbing. And then you get into learning things about the guy that made Drake and Josh and Victorious and, uh, I, Carly and stuff like that. And find out that he's like a weird kind of pervy dude with a teenage foot thing. Oh.
So yeah. Yeah. Uh, I've been watching a lot of iceberg stuff and some of it's disturbing. It, it, it doesn't have to be, but I find it so interesting. It, it tickles that little, you know, that part of your brain where like, you're watching the behind the scenes videos, like on the D V D menu. Yeah. Like when we were younger, where you're just like, oh, I love knowing how that's made.
This is kind of the same thing except you're like, oh God, I wish I didn't know that that was a thing that existed in my favorite franchise or whatever. It's like almost in like the conspiracy theory part of your brain where you're like, yeah. Oh, everything's awful. Yeah. I've been watching one, um, on Serial Killers. It's been like a multiple video series, and that's, that's been interesting. But, um, a lot of YouTube, a lot of, um,
not really a lot of TV shows. Uh, as a family. We've been watching mash, which is one of my favorite older TV shows. Uh, and I think we're about halfway through, but that's a lot of episodes to get through. And Mash is one that like I've always wanted to watch mm-hmm. , uh, but I just, I never, never had a chance to. Um, a while ago, Sabrina and I watched all of Cheers mm-hmm. , um, and we watched all of, uh, the Mary Tyler Moore show.
Yeah. You know, just some of those like old classic shows that, that we've wanted to watch. Um, and then, uh, I watched all of Modern Family. Okay. . Uh, you know, I've been like looking at shows that have won like a lot of Emmys mm-hmm. , and I'm like, well, this is like a hole in my, in my, uh, library of TV viewing. Yeah. I see. That's something that people may or may not know about you. You like to collect things. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I, I would say I, I'm a sporadic collector.
I'll get like, obsessed with collecting one thing and then get like halfway through my collection be like, all right, now I'm collecting this . And see, I'm not like that. Like, I remember I remember years ago going, oh, I'm gonna start collecting pop vinyl. And I had like five of 'em. And then I was like, they just sit here in boxes. I don't want to just look at 'em and I can't play with them. So then I like went to a, a local toy store and sold them all for like 20 bucks.
So I am not a collector. If you walk into my office, like, I have like a bunch of like tabletop role-playing game books over on a shelf. Uh, but the only thing I actually collect is different electronic devices. I have way too many computers in this office. Way too many monitors. I think I have, I have like five monitors in this office. Not all of them being used, but that, that's what I collect. I collect stuff that is supposed to help me make things.
Like I've got this, this mid keyboard back here, and I do use it just not as much as I'm sure Windy wishes. I used it. Like, I'm not a Grammy winning music artist yet. So. Yeah. Dave. Yeah. There's still hope. Yeah. Yeah. I'm only 36. Like. You're in your prime.
That's right. That's right. But yeah, I can see how, uh, like even when we've, we've played board games together, you know, you're like, well this, this one, uh, I'm gonna let you say it because you're married to a woman who's family is actually from Germany, and I'm just a white guy. Oh, were you talking about the spi? Yeah. Thank you. I feel weird saying it 'cause I'm like, I think I sound smart, but I probably sound real.
Dumb. I'm, I'm probably not saying that correctly, but that's how I say it. I mean, you said it in front of Sabrina and she hasn't hit you. So I, that counts for something to me. Uh, I think a big thing for me isn't even necessarily like the collecting of things, but, um, I would say like, I like to collect experiences and part of that for me is of things that other people have decided are the best. I, I like to experience those things.
Makes sense. Yeah. So when it comes to like, board games that have won awards or like, since my son was born, I've been buying the whatever the New York Times bestsellers, like picture book is for the week. Mm-hmm. , like, I've been buying those so that way he can have a continual library of these like, books that have been considered good. You know, even they're just picture books. So like, it's not like I'm buying him crazy novels or anything, but Right. It.
Just, I just, I just bought all of the Game of Thrones books. . I expect him to read them now. Oh boy. Yeah. . There. It's the picture book version of Game of Thrones. It's still just as, as naughty and violent, but it's for kids. No, we don't have that. But we do have a picture book of, uh, God of War. But, but there's, that's fun. There's nothing like gruesome in it. So I, I made sure of that. .
My dad didn't buy that for me. Root. Um, I was gonna ask you something 'cause it popped into my head and I was like, I can't talk to David about this by myself. 'cause obviously I'm not talking with David. Uh, have you seen any movies recently? I like, whether that's watching them at home or going to the theater to see anything. I haven't been to the theater for a while. I was just at the theater. Um, but it barely counts because I took my son to see, uh, the new Paw Patrol movie.
. Um, and what do you give it One outta five pause. You know, for being a, like a kid's movie. It was pretty entertaining. Um, as a kid's movie, you know, it's probably a four out of five. That's good. Yeah. That's. Good. He, he really enjoyed it. So that's what counts. We'll just have to bring Ezra on just for like a mini Sode. Just be like a five minute, if we can hold his attention that long.
Five minutes of like, what did you think about this movie? Because I've, I've been lucky enough to go see a couple movies with you in the theater. We what watched, um, super Mario Brothers movie together. Yeah. That was, um, that was ER's first ever movie. Yeah. That was good. I, I wanna watch it again. I enjoyed that. It's on Peacock now, isn't it? Yeah. But I don't feel like paying for. That. Yeah. I used to have it and got rid of it.
I'm so tired of paying for different subscription services. Just hate it. I really do. Yeah. We, um, we recently canceled our Max and, uh, a good, a good friend of mine, I won't mention who, um, you know, gave me their password to use. A loser. He's gonna get in trouble. But then we, uh, canceled our Peacock. Um, we canceled our Paramount Plus, uh, we're using, uh, good Friends Netflix until we get kicked off because Netflix is, is really like cracking down on that.
Yeah. Supposedly Disney Plus is also going to start doing the same thing. See, uh, Disney Plus and Hulu, that's the only streaming service that we actually still pay for if you don't count Amazon Prime, because we pay for our prime, so we get Prime video. Right, right. There's actually some decent stuff on Prime.
I watched a movie, uh, it's been a few weeks ago. It was an okay movie, but I love the concept, um, to the point that I'm like, going to use it for d and d as a, as a dungeon master running a campaign or, you know, a few sessions. Uh, it was a movie called Radius, and the concept is this guy wakes up, uh, after being, well, he wakes up, he doesn't realize it until later. He starts having flashbacks, but he wakes up and realizes that anytime any person or animal comes near him, they just die.
And is super, like, if you get a chance to watch it, uh, it's a little slow. Um, the acting's okay. But just the concept is really cool. And that's the only reason I would recommend it. It was a decent one. What. Made you pick that to watch? Uh, it was just the, the little trailer that they, that they had and just that brief description of this guy wakes up and doesn't remember who he is, and all of a sudden anybody that gets close to him dies. And, you know,
that's hence the, the name Radius. But like, it evolves from there and it's, it's very clever, kind of a sci-fi kind of thing, but it's, it's like modern day sci-fi. Not, not like 31 97 in the future. It's like, no, this takes place in like 2015, something like that. Uh, but it, it was just interesting. I'd never heard of any of the actors or director or anything. I just all it on Prime. And I've been going to prime a lot more to, to find those weird kind of obscure movies.
Not so much TV shows. I have watched a couple decent TV shows. There's one called, I think it's called The Consultant. Yeah, Christophe Waltz. He plays a consultant named Regis Patov. Um, he's hired to improve the business of an app-based gaming company, and employees experience new demands and challenges that put everything into question, including their lives. Not a great description, but I'm a huge Christophe Waltz fan. Mm-hmm.
Even though I can't remember his name. But yeah, like he plays this very sinister, like just, he shows up at kind of an interesting time in this company. And, uh, it, it's really, it's just kind of a weird interesting show. I think Prime is underrated. Like a lot of people just go, oh, well that's where you're gonna watch Jack Ryan. Or you're gonna watch. See, I watched, uh, Lord of the Rings, I watched, uh, the Boys on there. Yeah. That was a show I just kind of dropped out of. It was like.
It's. Obviously, I, I watched all the song movies mm-hmm. . So like, there's not a lot that bothers me, but I was like, it was just so, it was just too much. Yeah. I mean, it's a lot. Um, it's definitely not something you can watch with the kids. But wait until the Kid's Picture book comes out. . Yeah. I've enjoyed it. I just started, actually, they just released like a spinoff show of it called, uh, gen D. Yeah, I saw that. I watched the first couple episodes and, um, I,
I'm not sold on it. Um, and I'm not sure I'm gonna keep watching it. Tone-wise. Like how does it differ from the boys? Uh, it's, I mean, it's very similar tone-wise. Okay. Uh, a little bit of a spoiler. Not really. 'cause you can probably get this from like, the previews for it. Some of the powers for these like college kids, it's kind of dark. So like, uh, one of the characters, she like controls blood. Oh,
she'll like cut herself. Mm-hmm. to like, make herself bleed, sort of, you know, like kids dealing with like self-mutilation and stuff like that. It's kind of yeah. A touchy subject. And then, um, there's another character who he, um, has to make herself purge to make herself smaller. Oh, okay. So she's like, Hmm. Like there are high schoolers and college fan, I'm sure other adults too, um, who like binge and purge because they have some self-image
issues. Yeah. So she's actually like making herself like, like think like Ant-Man making herself smaller, except she has to purge to do that. So it's taking these, um, serious things that young adults and teenagers deal with and like turning them into like, almost like normalizing them a little bit. Yeah. I can see where it's like, that's really uncomfortable. I mean, especially like, if you've dealt with that yourself, not saying that you have,
I'm not saying that I have, that's like, I'm not gonna put that out there. Uh, but even if you've known people that have dealt with that, I could see how that would be really hard to wrap your brain around. I haven't personally dealt with that, or I don't think I, like, I, I probably do. Odds are I probably do know somebody that has dealt with that that I just don't know. But, um, it's just, I don't know. It's, um, it's not something I really think I want to keep watching just
'cause it's uncomfortable. Yeah. Which is so weird. Like, it's not weird that it makes you uncomfortable, but it's weird that that makes you more uncomfortable than the boys because that is a very, like, it's so over the top, but I guess it's not as. I think I can deal with just like douchey superheroes. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I will just say from the limited bit that I've watched, there have been some scenes with the Deep that have made me be like, oh,
I don't wanna understand. I don't know why I'm still watching this. I'm so uncomfortable. What? You never wanna have sex with a dolphin? Uh. You know, I can't say that I have , so. Yeah. Um, Prime's, Prime's got weird stuff on it. That's, that's how I look at Prime. Um, Hulu is like subpar Netflix, but they have some pretty solid like TV shows and documentaries. Um, yeah, Hulu. Is what I use to watch more of the, like, the current shows that are like on, you know, 'cause like,
like they have only murders in the building and mm-hmm. , um, what we do in the Shadows. And I, I was watching how I Met Your Father until that was canceled you most, a lot of the like, week by week shows are either on there or on Disney plus. Yeah. I've been pretty absent from Disney Plus for, for a while. Every once in a while something will come on and I'll be like, yeah, that's cool. Uh, Loki season Two's coming out, which we've talked about covering that. Um,
but I'm looking forward to that. Uh, but I didn't watch, um, and or I started watching it. I've heard it's fantastic. Um, it just, I think it was more the time of day I was watching. I was like turning it on like first thing in the morning. Mm-hmm. , like, I get up at like 6:00 AM and then I have a couple hours before I start work. So I like to just decompress before I have to be compressed . Um, and I haven't watched any of Asoka. I've heard some good things.
Um, but yeah, nothing's really caught my attention on Disney Plus. I've watched a lot of Bluey though. Yeah. Bluey iss the best. Uh, yeah. Yeah. I don't know if there's anything specific that you want to talk about. I think we're just, you know, we're both really excited to be able to start talking again about geeky things. Yeah. Uh, maybe one time we will, you know, sit down and play a board game and just record our conversation while we play. That.
Would actually be fun. We, we tend to have some, they're pretty geek this style conversations, um, while playing board games, at least when it's like my family or your family. Yeah. But yeah, like, we're glad to be back behind microphones talking together on the show. And of course we, we definitely want any input that you guys have. And Facebook is kind of the big place that you can get in touch with us, leave comments, uh, as we share things, share the show,
that kind of stuff. If you're on some other social media platforms, let us know. And I, I think we've got an Instagram that I started but never committed to. And then there's threads because I don't like what used to be called Twitter. I, I, I only use x to get, like, this sounds funny, but like Fast Food news. So like, I list, I subscribe to all the, the different X feeds I guess they're called.
I don't know. Uh, I, all the fast food restaurants, I subscribe to them and then go through and see like when there's something new. Yeah. That's, that's a good idea. I just, I have opinions about it. , . Yeah. I see. I stay off of like the trending page and stuff like that. Like I just mm-hmm. , I want to see what I wanna see and I don't really care to see the trash that's on there. And there's a lot of it. Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Now, if they were ever, if they ever got to the point where they're like, you have to pay to use this, I'm like, yeah, I'm out. . My, I I deleted it from my phone, which, uh, I really, I don't delete apps as often as I probably should. But yeah, I, it was even before that they announced the name change. I was just like, nah, I can't do this anymore. It makes me anxious and my medication doesn't fix that. But, um, yeah. So please go tell people we are back.
Let us know what you want us to talk about. Uh, it's gonna be a lot of the same stuff. Probably not as many, like comic book focused conversations, just because neither one of us have a ton of time to just down and read a comic book. But if you have a special request, I'm up for, you know, taking the time to find those books and read them so we can have. Conversation. We might, uh, dive into, like if we're talking about a certain topic, then maybe we will like talk about some like,
background comics. You know, say we're talking about Spider-Man and we want to reference like certain comic books, we might do that. But as far as like keeping up to date on like, the current comic books that are coming out, Dave and I just don't have the time or money. I think at some point, like if, if time allows, I would love to, um, revive the Cape Gauntlet. That was actually a project that I really enjoyed doing.
Um, it allowed me to do some of the things that I don't get to do in my everyday life, which is Right. Something, you know, like a script, do research and just pour over factoids and things like that. Those are things that I love to do. And maybe at some point we can get that going again, but no guarantees. But if there is something from the past, you know, between 2012 and 2020, I'm gonna say, yeah, 2012 and maybe 2019. If there's something that you like, that you're like, Hey,
this is a great segment, do this again. Just let us know. Uh, on film, uh, is kind of, it still exists, but it's probably gonna be under this now that's called, or what is it called again? . Oh. Uh, now this is franchising It, it's a play on, um, star Wars episode one, the Phantom Menace. Um, when Anakin says, now this is podcasting. You mean pod racing? Po. Pod racing. Yeah. , well, it's getting late, but. This is podcasting. It, it's past eight o'clock . Grandpa's gotta go to bed.
Actually, this is like when I would normally start getting pumped up every other week to record the other podcast for, you know, three hours. So, . But, um, yeah. Thank you guys so much for listening to the episode. Thanks David. For like, pushing me to bring this back. I've wanted to do it, but I I didn't want to do it without you. We're, we're, we're back for real this time. That's. For real. And if we're not our. Tagline for real this time. for real, this time? No, really .
Really. Uh, I'm, I'm excited. Let's see if we can get another decade under our belt of this show that's actually filled with content. But, um, yeah, give us a couple weeks. We're gonna, we're gonna do our best to record on a regular basis and remote recording is just gonna help so much with that, don't forget, you can go over to geek this podcast.com. It still exists. It has existed for the last 11 years. And, uh, you can subscribe on any platform that you listen to podcasts on.
Uh, we need to come up with some sort of like sign off tagline. Yeah. You know what, we should, we should run a contest. We need a tagline to close out the show. Uh, if you submit the best one, you win a prize. I don't know what that is. I may spring in, you know, uh, buy you like a one-off geek this shirt, or, I mean. Wouldn't stickers a prize just be being able to hear their tagline every week? Oh, well that's free, so Sure. . I'm kidding mind. But I mean, they. Can do something.
Else too, don't mind. Yeah, we can, we'll figure something out for you. Let us know on social media what you think the new, uh, tagline, uh, closing of the show should be. And we'll figure it out. But until then, uh, we love you all. Each and every one of you, like you're our own children. Or at least dogs, maybe cats. No, I don't like cats at all. , sorry. You do, you can be David's cats and my dogs. I mean, I, I I have a dog too and I love Oh.
That's right. You do have a dog. Anyway, this is how much we hang out. We're. . We're getting off topic. We, we were closing the show. Okay, we're leaving. Alright. Thanks so much for listening. We'll talk to you guys later. Bye. Bye.
