Thankful for Faith (Johnson)

God is so good to us in that He brings us into this world to live and breath and have our being in Him! Unfortunately, our sinful human nature, which is inextricably linked to our created bodies, keeps us from trusting in Him as our Savior. Amazingly however, in the same way that the Lord gives us life, He also gives us eternal life! Today we remember that the Lord engenders faith in our sinful hearts and so today we also remember to be “Thankful for Faith”!

Thankful for Daily Bread (Meyer)

With the gift of life comes the need to sustain our life. We completely understand that the life in our bodies is a gift from God but we often think that the “daily bread” part comes by our hard work! We genuinely believe that we “put bread on the table”. But today, we’ll remember that it is the Lord who feeds us! The Lord puts bread on our table and sustains us with everything else we need for life and living. Therefore, today we remember to be “Thankful for Daily Bread.”

Thankful for Life (Phillips)

What an amazing gift God has given us in giving us our life! He placed us in our mother’s womb! He ordained our birthday! He gave us life and has done so with purpose and forethought. He planned you. He made you. He set you on your path. How amazing is our Lord that He cares so much for us? How amazing is it that we have been given life through His almighty hand. Remembering those truths, we are “Thankful for Life” today!

Mature (Meyer)

One of the more common images that Jesus gave for our faith-life was the image of a planted seed. Jesus wanted us to understand that the Gospel “seed” once planted, not only takes root but also grows the whole of our life. So, when we consider our life in Christ, we must remember that living in and through Jesus means that we are growing in our faith every day. In fact, we are growing by the power of the Holy Spirit towards a maturity that Christ wants in the life of every believer. While we wil...

Holy, Blameless, Above Reproach (Johnson)

Today’s segment of Colossians one brings up something that is hard for us to understand as Christian people. We believe that we are sinners...that ’s not a problem. We believe that we are forgiven...and we love that truth. But do we really believe that we are “holy” in God’s sight? Do we even come close to trusting that we are “blameless” and “above reproach”? Those are amazing words and they are also hard words to believe because we know ourselves too well. We look in the mirror and know how si...

Created Through Him & For Him (Meyer)

For the most part we all understand that we have been created by God, and yet, we can even be more specific and say we were created by Jesus. We often call Jesus our “Redeemer” but we understand from God’s Word that He is also our “Creator”. John 1:1-5 reminds us that Jesus is in fact, our Creator God saying that “all things came into being by Him”, referring to Jesus. But Paul adds something to Jesus’ status as our “Creator” when he reminds us that we were not only created “through Him” ...but ...
